Frith identified three main types of music videos: performance videos feature the artist singing to the camera as if in a live performance; narrative videos tell a story that relates to the song's lyrics, like a short film; conceptual videos take a more artistic approach through graphics, effects, or unique visual concepts without a narrative. This research will help the document's author identify different video styles to reference for their own music video production.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

1. FRITH (1998) TYPES OF
MUSIC VIDEOS
PERFORMANCE
NARRATIVE
CONCEPTUAL
Frith believed that there are 3 types of music videos:
2. PERFORMANCE
This type of music video is where the band/artist sing on stage or on
some kind of setting and sing to the camera as if performing to a live
audience. This kind of video gives the video a live performance feel,
which helps promote the artist’s performance style. According to the
genre you will notice that the crowd will act differently, for example rock
and metal the crowd will most likely be a big mosh pit as opposed to
this example below where the crowd stand calmly and watch.
Example: Passenger – Let Her
Go
3. NARRATIVE
This type of music video is where the video will have a storyline, as if it
were a short film. Often music videos are made a few minutes longer
than the actual song itself to give more time for the short film. This type
of music video is far more cinematic than conceptual and performance
based videos. Often the lyrics dictate the storyline so the narrative
coincides with the music and lyrics, but often the music video is it’s own
story relating the lyrics in some way.
Example: Enrique Iglesias – Do You Know?
4. CONCEPTUAL
This type of music video is where the video is very arty and possibly
has lots of graphic/special effects, although it could be different and just
have a unique style, like the OK GO – This Too Shall Pass music video,
where the entire video is a circuit that has different objects rolling
around and hitting buttons to unlock new parts of the circuit.
Example: Ok Go – This Too Shall Pass
5. MY PRODUCTION
This research has helped me identify different music
videos so when I do further research and planning
for my production I will know what type of videos to
look at.
