Many indie videos show the artist in live performance , this focus the audience gaze on
the main artist and shows that they're good at what they are doing and shows people
what it would be like to see them in concert some indie rock videos contain a storyline or
narrative instead or along with the performance using snap shots between them
performing and the narrative , this helps the audience relate more to the video and to
understand the artists meaning behind their lyrics . An example of this would be cage the

Editing is very important in creating the atmosphere for a music video.
Most indie genre videos would have special effects to either make it flow smoother or

Shots are usually cut fast or slow to reflect the pace/beat of the music, which links to
andrew goodwins theory , it makes it much more comfortable to watch. Effects are
usually added over to create a old and worn like video . The black and white effect is
also very old fashioned giving it a more classical and sad feel to it , as well as this if it
isnt in black and white the colours are genrally muted to create an older vibe .

For a music video sound is a very important part ,especially during live performance
where the audiece can directly hear the instruments being played . If the music video
adapts a narrative it might have diegetic sounds to make a scene look more realistic .
The diegetic sounds might be much clearer and louder at the beginning before the
vocals start and at the end when the vocals end .sounds might overlap e.g the vocals
start and end when the diegetic sounds end , the vocals could still be playing but the
audience hears someone crying at the same time . Effects could be added to the sound
either to fade it or increase volume to convey emotions . An example of vocals at the

very important to ensure the music video looks realistic , for an indie rock genre these

seen someone in a long time the memories of their features slowely fade I like this video
as it is simple when u watch it but engaging as you watch the features change with the
beat of the music .
