Essay On Johnson Crafts
Johnson Crafts the place for needlecraft lovers
What would a person say that makes a world goes round? Money, emotions, power
and what not? But there would also be many who would say that it is the aesthetics.
And who can keep arts and crafts apart and separated from the idea of aesthetics and
beauty? Crafts are the reflection of the beauty not only of the world around us but
of the human mind itself as well. It is well known that many people hold a passion
for crafts and arts and take it to such a high level that they end up making it their
career. It shouldn t be surprising that so many universities today offer a number of
courses on different crafts and have multitudes of MFA s. If it is such a huge field
in learning and education today, it definitely has to be a grand source of income too.
Many people choose arts and crafts as their career and excel it is tremendously.

What Are Edgar Allan Poe s Accomplishments
Edgar Allan Poe is one of the most well known poets in history. His creative and
mysterious personality played a major role in his upcoming fame. Poe was very
inspirational about his works and showed great emotion throughout his poems,
which credited him as one of the best poets of all time. The author wrote many ideal
poems, but his most famous poem, The Raven, is what made him really stand out
from all the others. Even though Poe had a very difficult life, he did not let that
hinder him, instead he used that to his advantage and expressed it in his poems.
While he never accomplished financial success, Edgar Allan Poeis recognized as one
of the first American writers to become a major figure in literature.
Poe was born on January 19, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had to work extremely hard to receive the awards that he did. Edgar Allan Poe s
most famous poem, The Raven, was a popular sensation. It appeared in the New
York Evening Mirror. In a short period of time after that, it was reprinted and
illustrated. The poem tells the story of an anonymous lover, who is mourning over
the death of a lost love, is being visited by a talking raven. The repetition of one
word the raven uses is slowly driving him mad. The tone used in the poem gives a
sense of mystery and supernatural things occuring. Poe did not only set himself up
for success by writing this poem, but he also inspired others and influenced their
work that they would do in the future. The Raven is known as one of the most
renowned in English literature (source 4). Coming in a close second to the most
famous poem he wrote is Annabel Lee. This was the last complete poem by the
famous author. It was published in New York Tribune on October 9, 1849. He uses
a reoccuring theme in the poem, the death of a lover. The narrator believed that
because the relationship he had with Annabel Lee was close to perfect, the angels
became envious and caused her passing. He felt as if their love was so intense that
it could not be replaced. In writing this poem, he described a passionate love that
everyone desires to have. Poe also wrote a wonderful piece with the title, The
Haunted Palace. It starts out as
Major Discoveries in Electrical Communication in the
1800’s
The nineteenth century was a very prolific era of discovery in electrical knowledge
and technologies that laid the foundation for modern electrical communication.
During this period of time the foundations of modern electrically based technologies
were discovered. The nineteenth century began with a debate between Luigi Galvani,
and Alessandro Volta regarding the source of electricityin Galvani s famous frog
experiment. These debates lead to the invention of the battery by Volta, and the
invention of Volta s. Volta s discoveries would lead the way for Ohm s law several
years later. However, before that discovery was made Hans Christian Г rstead
discovered electromagnetism, which was then used by AndrГ© Marie AmperГЁ to
show that magnetism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Galvani noticed that when a metal scalpel was brought close one of the nerves in
the frog that the frog s leg would move. Galvani stated that the electricity observed
in the frogs was intrinsic the nerves of the frog. Galvani used multiple different
metals combinations to demonstrate the electric phenomenon. He would further
demonstrate that metals were seemingly unneeded. He did this by manipulating the
nerves and muscles of the frogs in such way that caused the same twitch, as when a
metal object was brought near. The publication of his research in 1791 would peak
the interest of Alessandro Volta. Volta was convinced that Galvani s animal
electricity was not the result of the animal tissues, but the metals within those
tissues. In an effort to prove this Volta invented the battery . Volta s battery was
built out of alternating zinc and copper disks with cloth (or a similar medium)
soaked in salt water [10]. Volta stated the following regarding the nature of
electricity with respect to Galvani s animal electricity: Herein lies the whole secret,
the whole magic of Galvanism. It is simply an artificial electricity, which acts under
the impulse of contacts between different conductors [9]. At this point Volta s theory
of electricity by contact was fully accepted. Just after Volta s greatest discovery and
before that of Ohm, Hans Christian Г rstead discovered magnetism. Г rstead
conducted a series of experiments that
Meaning Of Freedom In America
Freedom has been discussed for a while now and yet no one can agree it exists.
The conflict over the meaning of freedom continues to exist from the civil war,
throughout the sixties. The Civil War was fought over the question of what
freedom means in America, for us in this present date to have freedom is being
able to enter any public place whenever you want without being told you cannot
enter, also not having to worry if you are going to be arrested if you enter the wrong
restroom or don t give up your seat to a white person. For more than a century African
Americans demanded and fought for freedom; progressive freedom. African American
wanted equality that gave them voting rights, civil rights, education and public
health. Some of the most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of their methods were: nonviolence, direct action, boycotts, such as the
successful Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955 56, and civil resistance. A great
example of the nonviolent method initiated by Martin Luther King Jr. is when Dr.
King was closing a SCLC convention in Birmingham, Alabama when a man
walked in and started hitting Dr. King in the face with his fist, spinning him half
way around. Dr. King did not hit back what so ever. According to Rosa Parks, that
was present in the same event, all Dr. King said was, Don t touch him! We have to
pray for him (43). He was referring to the man that hit him and Martin Luther King
Jr. did not press charges against the man. It takes a lot of courage not to respond
with anger when you are being aggravated physically. Dr. King s actions made
people admire him because it is easy to hate than to forgive all the injustices and
the mistreatment for such a long period of time. At times I am almost sure Martin
Luther King Jr. thought if all his hard work and dedication was going to pay off.
Another activist was Malcolm X one of his famous line was, By any means
necessary , he believed in fighting back physically, whatever needed to be done to get
freedom was going to be done, he wanted blacks to take
Homogeneous Mixtures Lab Report
Thursday, October 28 in Ms. O Brien s science class we performed two
experiments. The first experiment was called the Mixed Substances Lab. In this lab
we were to see how properties of individual substances compare with properties of
mixed substances. There were three research definitions that we needed to know. The
first was the definition of a mixture, which is a combination of two or more
substances that are not combined chemically but physically. Secondly, the definition
of a homogeneous mixture. Homogeneous mixtures are mixtures in which the
substance is uniform in structure or composition throughout. Lastly, the definition of
heterogeneous mixtures. This is when a solution consists of dissimilar parts of
elements or when you can see the individual elements. Our hypothesis was if the
properties of individual substances compare with properties of mixed substances and
we mix water with cornstarch, then it will create a substance that s properties switch
between a solid and liquid that is a homogeneous mixture.
The objective of the Investigating Mixtures Lab was to observe that not all liquids
behave the same way when mixed with other liquids. The hypothesis was if not all
liquids behave the same way when mixed with other liquids and I mix colored water
and vegetable oil then the vegetable oil will rise to the top and separate. ... Show more

This is because it was not uniform in structure or composition throughout the
substance. You could see both materials separately. If droplets of soap were added
to the mixture of water and oil, the water would be on the bottom because it is the
densest liquid. The oil would be on the top, which leaves the soap to be in the
middle. This is because the oil is the least dense material and the soap is less dense
than water, but denser than oil. If this lab was done again with different types of oil
it would be expected to result in the same order. The water is denser than all

When a man cannot achieve or maintain an erection, the problem extends well
beyond his own sphere of activity. As an individual involved in an intimate
relationship, you also have a stake in your partner s ability to function in this
capacity. While you may not want to broach the subject of impotence and erectile
dysfunction, it may be better to do so now, rather than wait until the situation
becomes impossible. In fact, once you bring up this topic, you may just find that
your partner was looking for some way to discuss the matter with you. Are Your

during the process of seeking treatment for erectile dysfunction. No matter whether
diagnosis and treatment involve relationship counseling, medications, or other
modalities, you should be prepared do what you can to stay with your partner and
be of assistance. That said, if you find that the relationship itself is the problem,
you should also be just as prepared to end it and start over with someone else. There
is no question that dealing with male impotence is just as difficult for intimate
partners as it is for the individual. As a general rule of thumb, if you do not talk
about this problem, you may find that solving it will become much more difficult. In

Essay On Evolution Of Mobile Phones
Evolution of Mobile Phone Technology
Mobile phone
A mobile phone (also known as a cellular phone, cell phone and a hand phone) is a
device that can make and receive telephone calls while moving around a wide
geographic area. It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by a mobile
phone operator, allowing access to the public telephone network. By contrast, a
cordless telephone is used only within the short range of a single, private base station.
In addition to telephony, modern mobile phones also support a wide variety of other
services such as text messaging, MMS, email, Internet access, short range wireless
communications (infrared, Bluetooth), business applications, gaming and
photography. Mobile phones that offer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was commercially introduced in the Americas in 1978, Israel in 1986, and
Australia in 1987.
AMPS was a pioneering technology that helped drive mass market usage of cellular
technology, but it had several serious issues by modern standards. It was
unencrypted and easily vulnerable to eavesdropping via a scanner; it was susceptible
to cell phone cloning; Many of the iconic early commercial cell phones such as the
Motorola DynaTAC Analog AMPS were eventually superseded by Digital AMPS (D
AMPS) in 1990, and AMPS service was shut down by most North American carriers
by 2008.
Digital cellular networks 2G
In the 1990s, the second generation mobile phone systems emerged. Two systems
competed for supremacy in the global market: the European developed GSM
standard and the U.S. developed CDMA standard. These differed from the previous
generation by using digital instead of analog transmission, and also fast out of band
phone to network signaling. The rise in mobile phone usage as a result of 2G was
explosive and this era also saw the advent of prepaid mobile phones.
In 1991 the first GSM network (Radiolinja) launched in Finland. In general the
frequencies used by 2G systems in Europe were higher than those in America,
though with some overlap. For example, the 900 MHz frequency range was used for
both 1G and 2G systems in Europe, so the 1G systems were rapidly closed down to
make space for the 2G systems. In America the IS 54 standard was deployed

Band of Brothers And Today
What is going on in the world today? Are there any similarities with how the world
was run 65 years ago? The 2002 HBO miniseries Band of Brothers was created and
produced by a crew with numerous amounts of well known Hollywood names. Two
men with some of the biggest names in Hollywood that backed this miniseries with
their talent were Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. The miniseries was released in
2002, only a year after the events of September 11th. The show was aired on HBO
during prime time hours, aimed at Americans who may not have had a strong sense of

September 11th 2001, an act of terror that screamed a cry throughout the world,
and will forever be in the hearts of many. Hundreds of firemen and police officers
gave their lives without thinking of there own. They could think only of the others
who were in danger. The brotherhood came after the disaster. Millions of Americans
came together to show there support for others who had been directly affected. The
attacks of 9/11 forever affected Americans in the fact that they were forever united
with a bond stronger than anything a terrorist could break. Band of Brothers shows
that when put to the test, the bonds Americans create amongst themselves is
greater than any evil that is put in front of them. This was shown in the horrific
tales of D Day. As Lieutenant Richard Winters said, when referring to the solidarity

Jelly Beans Experiment
Aim: to test taste and smell between females and males by using jelly beans and to
see if there is a difference between the genders by the results.
Apparatus/Equipment:
A cup of water to get rid of the taste between each testing. Jelly beans to help with
the experiment for taste and smell (supplied by the teacher). A blind fold (optional_
when testing to make sure they do not know which jelly bean it will be. A five column
table to record results. Plastic bag, preferably zip lock, or a cup to keep the jelly
beans stored in and for hygiene purposes.
Hypothesis: if males and females were tested on their ability to correctly identify taste
and smell by using jelly beans, then females would have a higher chance to
distinguish the correctly given jelly bean based on their abilities. Research from Yale
University has proven that this is due to women tend to have more sensitive palates

The Outsider Identity Of Society
In our world, almost everyone can be grouped as either an outsider or an insider;
they may lose insider status, but one s society makes it nearly impossible to lose
outsider status. This theme is represented in Nathanial Hawthorns novel, The
Scarlet Letter, as well as the articles, The First White President, by Ta Nehesi
Coates, and American Schools Are Failing Nonconformist Kids, Here s How by
Elizabeth Weil. Some may disagree with the idea that culture reinforces one s stutus,
as shown in Weil s article s support of the idea that society could change the
struggling students state of being an outsider. In reality, one s status is directly
caused by their society, for example in The Scarlet Letter, Hester is demoted to the
outside when she violates the strict Puritandoctrine, which prohibits adultery.
Similarly, Coate s article tells that his society s support of the white supremacist
leader, President Donald Trump, is a major contribution to African American s
permanent outsider status. In all, as shown in these sources, it can be seen that the
zeitgeist of the people in a particular period has a profound effect on people s
classification as an insider or an outsider. The article American Schools Are Failing
Nonconformist Kids, Here s How, goes against the claim that society is the main
culprit in distinguishing an outsider from an insider, by putting the blame on the
education system. In her article, Weil provides many examples on how, were it not
for the schools
Beauty Is Subjective
LITERATURE REVIEWS
have been finding ou I t more and more as I grow older, that people have different
views about everything. Nothing in this world is perfect and it shows through mans
disagreement about everything. They all have their own definiton of beauty. I find it
is good to have your own opinion about things. Then you can hear other opinions and
still have your own.
Beauty could be defined as an outward apperience.According to William
Shakespeare(1588) Beauty is bought by judgement of the eye . A lot of people cave
into beauty as being a thing they look at. Beauty is something that brings their eyes

They can see beauty in the flaws. Girls are good at this one. If we embarass
ourselves in front of a girl, they might think it is cute and laugh at us and tell us
that. Even though we think we messed up, people see past that, especially if they
want to share feelings with you as Confucius(2001)state Everything has beauty, but
not everyone sees it . There are also opinion about natural beauty. This consists of
what God has created, this world. People often enjoy a nice stroll through a park to
get a delightful view of a lake and get a breath of fresh air. People also like to go up
to a picnic area to enjoy the scenery and the nature. All the animals, trees, and rocks
make it a peaceful environment for a relaxing afternoon. I see beauty as what God
has made.Saint Augustine(1871)said that Beauty is indeed a good gift of God;
but that the good may not think it a great good, God dispenses it even to the
wicked .I find His earth and His people as the definition of beauty. We are all made
in His image therfore we are made perfectly and most beautiful. We can find beauty
in God and only God. If we do not find God then we cannot find true beauty. We
could look at outward beauty but it only lasts until you grow old. You could look at
inward beauty and in the end find emptiness because you are nothing without God.
You can look at God s creation but it is not true beauty if God hasn t opened your

Yeats And The Salley Garden Essay
They (the great writers) were national first ... and it was the intensity of their own
nationalism which made them international. (Power 65) As Maud Gonne said
without Yeats there would have been no Literary Revival in Ireland. Without the
inspiration of that revival and glorification of beauty and heroic virtue I doubt there
would have been an Easter week (24). Yeats was born in 1865 near Dublin in Ireland
and through his literary work contributed in the cultural nationalism of Ireland. He
imagined an Ireland that took shape as modern Ireland. He tried to unify the nation
by substituting religious beliefs of the sectarian and class loyalties with the
nationalistic sentiment. He tried to define the importance of love and death in

Yeats edited by John P. Frayne. To define Irish literature, the first article begins thus:
Some of my countrymen include among (sic) national writers born in Ireland but I
prefer, though it greatly takes from the importance of our literature, to include and
of Irish subjects, when once a country was given perfect expression to itself in
literature, has carried to maturity its literary tradition, its writers, no matter what
they write of, carry its influence with them, just as Carlyle remained a Scotsman
when he wrote of German kings or French, and Shakespeare an Elizabethan
Englishman when he told of Coriolanus or Cressida. (Frayne 360) In his youth he
excluded Swift, Sterne, Burke and Berkeley from his list of Irish tradition but
afterward he declared them as his predecessors. He favoured genuine literature but
was against any kind of propaganda. He excluded Thomas Moore, Thomas Davis
and John Mitchel inspite of the presence of nationalism in their poetry because they
used English method in their poetry and did not contributed in enriching Irish literary
tradition. He praised Callanan for developing a new kind of verse with its source
from the Irish tradition. The poets who contributed in enriching Irish tradition were

Everything was spinning around and around me, as I stood in front of the mirror
watching the cold, stale tears full of regret and sadness drip downing onto the stiff
new sweatshirt I got earlier that day. I could hear the words floating from the
phone into my ear but it sounded as if it was a million miles away and I was
underwater. I could hear Mom try to calm my nerves and try to wipe my tears
from six hundred miles away but it was all for nothing. I could smell the saltiness
of the tears and feel the sliminess of the snot that was a stream from my nose. I
wiped away the stinging tears, filled with a new sense of rage. They are in there

hot, angry tears. I was angry and I couldn t express my emotions like I was used to

Do I need to drive the 10 hours to come and get you? Because I will and it won t

rest of this trip. I can t be near her.

Steel Barrio Summary
Michael Innis Jimenez s Steel Barrio examines the way Mexicans and Mexican
Americans lived in south Chicago during the 1920 s and onward. The book
provides a general idea on the lifestyle of people coming from Mexican descent;
from the struggle they tried to overcome, to the ideas they developed. It seems like
survival was a key part of the Mexican life during that time, especially being
surrounded by their white counterparts and hate. The appropriate word for their
survival in Chapter 6 of the book is resistance. After reading the chapter on
Resistance, it dawned upon myself that most Mexicans living in America were
prideful of where they came from even though Mexico was in poor economic shape
at the time. The main point in the book is to draw an overall picture of Mexican life
in south Chicago, but the main point in the chapter was to point out the will of the
Mexican to resist American assimilation also referred to as Americanization . A text
from the chapter that stuck with me the most was an Italian group discriminating
against Mexicans, not letting them rent their hall to Mexicans. In page 13, the
owners of the Italian hall get told that in Italy they wouldn t prejudice like that, the
Italians simply reply with No, but we are becoming Americanized . This stood out to
me the most because it gives an idea of what others thought it took to be an... Show

how they surmounted that hindrance. The Crucible of Struggle mentions Mexicans

An Explorative Study of Testing the Effectiveness of Product PlacementCompared to

Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to compare the effectiveness of subtle and

It is forecasted that global paid product placement spending will grow at a compound
annual rate of 27.9% in the 2005 2010 period to $7.55 billion, as product placement
growth continues to significantly outpace that of traditional advertising and marketing
. The overall value of the worldwide product placement market, including the barter
/exposure value of non paid placements, will increase 18.4% compounded annually
to $13.96 billion in 2010 (PQ Media, August 2006). It is therefore not surprising
that the concept of product placement is daily discussed, applied, and reported in the
world of professional marketers (Russell and Stern, 2006; O Loughlin, 2006; Levin,
2006; Karrh et al. 2003;).

The Rising Importance of Product Placement in Europe While brand or product
placement is prevalent in the US because of vague or nonexistent regulations, the
transition is moving slower in Europe due to stricter rules governing the use of
product placement (PQ Media, 2006). In Europe, The European Commission is
working on the legislation of using product placements for movies or TV
programmes and has set out its plans, in order to update 1989 s TelevisionWithout
Frontiers Directive, extending the rules to all TV like services and
Analyzing The American Dream
In her poem, The American Dream, anonymous poet Amy H. praises the American
dream, claiming that we, as Americans, experience heaven on Earth. Amy H. does
little to distinguish the American dream from the actual American reality. She
proposes that all Americans, from those in double wide trailers to double wide
mansions, are equal in our appreciation for the benefits of the American dream. Amy
suggests that because of the prevalence of the this dream in our culture, that it has
been achieved or implemented into reality. Amy H. claims that millions have made it
more than a dream she claims that it is a dream that has been realized. In her poem
Amy writes, It is the dream that wakes within us all. Though the idea of the American
dream is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper will expand beyond the typically light and hopeful analysis of the
American dream instead, I will focus on the American reality, or the American dream
as it actually affects our daily lives. In this paper I will analyze the manifestation of
the American dream across the twentieth and into the twenty first century. The
American dream is little more than an American nightmare it is destructive and
consuming. In my exploration of this topic I read four novels, each representing a
different time period in the United States of America. In my first chapter I will
evaluate the usage of the American Dream in Bret Easton Ellis American Psycho, and
Sloan Wilson s The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit. Both Ellis and Wilson suggest that
the pursuit of wealth in America according to the American dream is self destructive.
In American Psycho, Ellis imposes his claim by drawing parallels between the hunt
for wealth and violence, by illustrating a sense of indifference to violence with wealth
being the ultimate concern, and by linking greed with the physically grotesque.
Similarly, Ellis purports the same notion of the destructive nature of the American
dream in its actuality by connecting wealth and
A Transgenic Lines
Three independent homozygous transgenic lines with significantly higher

However, there was clear difference in bolting time between WT and transgenic lines
(Supplementary Fig. S2). The visible changes in early plant growth between WT and
transgenic lines were analyzed through measuring root length after growth on ВЅ MS

At the same time, significantly lower (~25%, 20%, 40%, and
7%, decrease) root length inhibition in transgenic plants was recorded in comparison
to root length of NT transgenic plants. (Fig. 1).
For salt and osmotic stress, WT and transgenic line were grown on NaCl (50 mM)
and mannitol (150 mM) for 11 d. Root length of WT showed significant decrease
(70%) as compared to transgenic line (30% 50%) during salt stress as compared to
NT; WT and transgenic seedlings, whereas in osmotic stress, ~50% and up to 40%
decrease was observed in WT and transgenic lines compared to NT; WT and
transgenic plants. It is concluded that in WT there was ~40% and 20% more
reduction in case of salt stress and osmotic stress respectively (Fig. 2).
For studying effect of cold and heat, after stratification seeds were kept at 20ЛљC and
37ЛљC respectively for 4 h and then transferred to control conditions. As much as
~60% and
40% decrease in root length of WT was noted during cold and heat stress,

root length was recorded in transgenic lines at time of heat and cold stress,
respectively when compared to NT transgenic plants. This result indicated ~40% and
~20% reduction in root length of WT compared to transgenic lines subjected to cold
and heat stresses (Fig. 3). These studies
Summary Of Olaudah Equiano
The film tells the life story of Olaudah Equiano, from 1746 of his birth to 1796 of
his death. A documentary film less than hour on the life and struggle of a slave. It
covers his life from age eleven, when Equiano and his sister was abducted by
European slave traders at the age and sold into slavery. He later bought his freedom
and became part of the abolition movement. From 1833, Slaverywas abolished 10
years later after Equiano death. The film also through showing Richard Baker
taught Equiano to read and write, guided him along the path of religion. As with
Robert King, which was his last slave owner, allowed Equiano to engage in
profitable trading for his own account while he was in his near 20s. Equiano as a

I knew about Equiano was one of the first to learn how read and write, but I didn t
know a white young man taught him. It seemed to me that it wouldn t be a smart
thing for a white man to teach a slave how to read and write. After watching that
preview of Equiano experience of a young boy captured by traders and brought to a
slave ship. I had to look up in my textbook more about Equiano s life and the text
states that, Equiano described during the 1780s how horrible it was living around
that time. Also, him describing the white slave traders, with their horrible looks, red
faces, and long hair, appeared to be savages who acted with a brutal cruelty that went

Blacks were treated as low life s and were not treated the same as whites. There was
an issue in equal rights and segregation at the time and blacks had an issue with what

that we as people are giving the same opportunity as others and equal rights. I have

creed: We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men are created equal

There is no money in the world that will pay for respect or equal rights. One of the
first things I think young people, especially nowadays, should learn is how to see
for yourself and listen for yourself and think for yourself (MalcolmX). Like many
young adults and any older adults listen for yourself and see for yourself. Many
people go by word of mouth thinking they will know the truth about situations that is
happening but in reality they may be given part of a story. Go out and see the truth
for yourself and experience what is being fought for. The rights or yourself and
others and everyone should be a part of it to understand why this is happening and the
outcomes that come about

After reading the short story, Because My Father Always Said He Was the Only
Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock by
Sherman Alexie, Alexie follows all six elements such as ideas, organization, voice,
word choice, fluidity in sentences and last but not least, conversation. When
looking at the Ideas of the short piece and how it was created, one of the most
noticeable things is the revealing of the plot. Just by looking at the title you have an
idea that the short piece will be about the relationship between the father and with
Jimi Hendrix. Alexie reveals in the information in a chronological order as well as

1970 s. Alexie then goes on in briefly telling the reader what prison was like for
their father. Eventually moving on to how the father met the mother and the
relationship they father and mother had. This is an interesting take on the way a
child views their father and mother and how the father has craved freedom. The
fluidity of this short piece is excellent, it is not choppy and it gives just enough
detail without dragging the story out. It also helps that this piece is an easy read.
One of the things that I enjoyed from the piece was the comparison to how Indians
would live compared to different races mentioned in the piece. I though it gave the
Victor the narrator some personality. Victor also does a lovely job on creating the
images of what his parents and their relationship, as well as his love for his father.
The analogy of Jimi Hendrix and freedom for the freedom was easy to pick up on,
especially for when the father had bought himself a motorcycle and found the

effect of water and also minimize the paper swelling upon getting wet. They were
first weighed dry on a sensitive weighing balance. The bottom section of the

Figures 2A and 2B show the flow variation by varying the width of the channel.
Comparison between various channel widths ranging from 1 to 6 mm describes
the better picture of how the flow is affected by the hydrophobic drag inside the
wax and SU 8 barrier. The results indicate a slower profile in the case of wax
printed channels as compared to SU 8. This is evident from the high value of
hydrophobicity of wax than SU 8. Moreover, it is confirmed by the droplet
pictures, which are inset. A droplet of water on the top of wax surface makes a
contact angle of 132В° and 86В° for SU 8. This shows the higher hydrophobic
nature of wax. As water propagates inside a smaller width channel, the ratio of this
hydrophobic drag, caused by the surrounding barrier, increases. Looking at the
curve in Figures 2A and 2B, above 4 mm channel widths have no effect of this
boundary drag effect. The error bar in each experiment can possibly indicate (1)
different orientation of paper fibers in the porous matrix (2) the lateral spreading of
wax having a minute inconsistency during heating process (3) small evaporation

Song Analysis Of Concrete Angel
The song I chose is a song sung by Martina McBride, a country singer, called
Concrete Angel. The song was written by Rob Crosby and Stephanie Bentley, later
released on November 18, 2002. The song is about a young girl, Angela Carter, who
doesn t have the most stable and safest home. At home she is domestically abused by
her drugged mother, neglected and forced to take care of herself; she packs her own
school lunch, walks to school by herself, and is wearing the same dress showing her
mom does not care to give her new clothes. When watching the music video, in the
beginning children are laughing at her, which shows she is bullied, another main
theme tackled in the song. The bruises are seen by her teacher and the neighbors hear

The girl has no authority figure, a careless mother, no father, and no other adult to
rescue her. A third social force would be Theory of Self, formation of self through
interactions with significant others. Through the lack of recourses, having to hide
her abuse and the neglect of her mother, she s forced to put on a strong front, keep
her home life a secret, and pretend everything is okay although it s not; through the
wind and the rain she stands hard as a stone in a world that she can t rise above.
Her home life and lack of relationships with others really takes a toll on her
happiness and sometimes she wishes she was never born. A fourth social force
would be related to the child abuse and neglect, there s actually two sociological
phenomenon and norm breaking. It s considered a sociological phenomenon
because it is not an innate behavioral pattern for human beings to follow. Abusing
and your child, is not only a norm breaking but also breaking the law. Norms today
when it comes to a child is expected of the parent to love, take care, and provide for
them, not to beat them. This was not the case at all in Concrete Angel, for her
mother constantly beat her, never showed any love towards her or took care of her.
Another norm violated would be with the teacher and neighbors; they heard or saw
signs of abuse but never stepped up to save the girl from the abuse. They hid behind
fear and turned a blind

knew it s dangerous, but for smoking, it s not the case. So, I think smoking might
give smokers something special, and many positive feelings or results. A man also
told me he needs the help of cigaretteto become energetic and there are many social
values of tobacco. For example, in China, sometimes smoking is good for social
connection, it s could help a stranger to get closer to each other when people met for
the first time, they often ask each other do you smokeпјЊif the answer is yes, people
will give them cigarettes to smoke. It shows kindness and helps to develop a

Theme Of I Ve Got Your Man
Critical Analysis of I ve got your man by Lady Saw
Dancehall is a genre of music that developed in the late 1970s in Jamaica with
certain influences from Reggae music. It gained popularity in Jamaica in the 1980s
and 1990s and has continued to be dominant in Caribbean societies. Although
Dancehall was a male dominated genre at that period, Marion Lady Saw Hall is one
of the most influential artistes and is very diverse in terms of her style of dancehall
and lyrical content. She collaborated with the North American band No Doubt for

Although she empowered women in terms of being comfortable with expressing
sexuality from a female perspective by defying gender discrimination, the underlying
message in the lyrics seeks to degrade another woman and tarnish her reputation
while the man remains dominant. The song I ve Got Your Man relates to listeners
that a man is romantically involved with two women at the same time. This
message is delivered through the perspective of the woman who the man is having
an affair with and hence, imposing on another person s relationship is depicted as
a victory in the song. Lady Saw states You may think he s coming back to you but I
doubt it. Don t make no sense you call him and even try to work out it, Cause I ve
got your man and you can t do anything about it, which reveals a level of
competitiveness as she is convinced that the man will choose her over his initial
partner. However, the lyrics reveals that the man is only seeking a sexual
relationship with her and may not necessarily commit to either one. This can be
deduced from the lines Your man he told me that he s tired of the shit you got. He
took one hit and said my good shit keeps him coming back. Hence, the man resumes
the dominant role in the relationship as he has the option to choose between both
women which is an example of how polygamy has perpetuated society and it is part

Analysis Of The Movie Pre Trial Release On The United...
Race Effects Paulsen s review in Pre Trial Release in the United States examined
one of the worst episodes of racial disturbance in the history of the United States
when over 4,000 people were arrested and over half were charged with felonies in
Los Angeles, California (1966, pg. 109). Paulsen provides a clear cut charge to a
question many ask, bail problems are constitutional problems in the United States
(1966, pg. 110). In this particular case, the prosecutors argued for denial of bail, that
the police needed more time to correlate information they had on persons in
custody... that persons released on bail might resume looting (Paulsen, 1966, pg.
110). The judge found that the defendants could be released on bail, but made bail
$3000 higher than normal for the crimes they were arrested for (Paulsen, 1966).
Paulsen s conclusion was foreshadowing the effects that the bail system was having
on America, statutes in the next decade are likely to improve the administration of
the bail system by providing the means for individualizing bail decisions and by
providing release under various conditions other than bail (1966, pg. 125). Paulsen
does discuss the thoughts judges may have when they make their decisions, citing,
some trial judges are probably influenced by the fear that the accused will tamper
with the evidence. Other judges believe that a taste of jail before releasing the
accused on probation is beneficial (1966, pg. 114). While racial disparity is a huge

Global Warming Affects International Business
During the 20th century, the earth s average surface temperature increased by 0.6В°
В± ().2В°C (Folland et al. 2001), and there s strong evidence that human activities are
the main cause of this trend (Mitchell et al. 2001). This increase in global surface
temperature is thought to have at least some effect on the frequency of extreme
weather events due to climate changes (Folland et al. 2001), and there is concern that
these changes will have an enormous impact on various industries (Hitz and Smith
2004). Balancing environmental measures with economic development, that is,
working toward sustainable development, is the fundamental goal of global
environmental policies, including those for global warming(Hijioka, Masui,

For example, forestry projects are one of the important outcomes of joint
implementation in agriculture industry. Planting trees in reforestation or afforestation
projects enhances the absorptive capacity of the biosphere and leads to carbon dioxide
reductions in the atmosphere(Robert and Sally, 1995). Besides, Tesco, a European
supermarket chain, is beginning a program to provide a global warming rating for
everything it sells (Scot, 2007). The chain is creating an index to measure the carbon
footprint required to produce, package, and transport each product in its stores.
Consumers can then include the carbon footprint along with price and product
quality when making purchasing decisions. Weather and climate are core business for
the insurance industry. Many extreme weather events such as cyclones, hailstorms,
bushfires and floods are projected to increase in either intensity or frequency under
climate change. A changing, less predictable climate has the potential to reduce the
insurance industry s capacity to calculate, price and spread this weather related risk.
In Australia, 19 out of the 20 most costly natural disasters, in terms of property

Persuasive Essay On Circus Animals
Circus Animals
Earlier this year, there was a bill introduced to congress to ban wild and exotic
animals and prohibit them from traveling in circuses. Why should circuses have the
right to manipulate or torture these living creatures? While there are arguable
defenses in using animals for entertainment, those defenses do not include the pain
that those living creatures experience in exchange for creating human entertainment
and happiness. For example, these animals are taken away from their natural habitat,
they travel long hours, and are put in cages for most of their lives. According to
Bentham, He claimed that each persons happiness or pleasure was of equal value,
and should be weighted equally when determining how you should act. ... Show more

They are taken away from their families which hurts them emotionally. They are
raised by humans who are trained to care for them, but they cannot substitute for the
love of their mates. In addition, some of the animals that are born in a circus
environment do not understand who they are or what group they belong to. For
instance, if you take a tiger or elephant that has been living in the circus for most of
their lifetime and bring it back to their original habitat, they will not be able to
survive. They will not understand what is to hunt or to survive in the wild. Bentham
explained, You should be motivated to act, not for the sake of your own pleasure, but
also for the sake of others pleasures, too. A circus can entertain large crowds, but at
the end of the day, circus representatives are taking animals from their natural habitats
to pleasure others and they have no right to do so. Ringling Bros. And Barnum Bailey
s circus made a great ethical decision to support the animals rights and support that
animals should not be used for entertainment anymore.
Further support for this unethical justification would be the Traveling Exotic Animal

The National Labor Relations Board Essay
Abstract
The recent decision made by the National Labor Relations Board granted collective
bargaining rights to graduate student workers and researchers. The focus on the
decision was primarily based on the wording or a statutory employee as defined in
Section (2)3 of the National Labor Relations Act and ultimately the reversal of the
2004 Brown University decision against the groups legitimate reasoning and desire to
unionize. University administrators were against student worker unionization and
cited that academy freedom would be encroached on as well as a deteriorated student
faculty relationship. Proponents to the decision cite poor wages, limited access to
healthcare and respect as well as empirical evidence discrediting administrator s
claims as making unionization the most viable option.

(2) Mike s Bikes as owner of the bikes has rights in the property. (3) Finance gave

agreement Finance sent to Mike s Bikes qualifies as a security agreement. This
because it grants a security interest in the bikes. It adequately describes the bikes as
inventory. Even though the fact pattern refers to it as personal property it is not
because the property is held in the trade of business. The bikes are inventory because
they are held by the debtor for sale to consumers. The security agreement is
authenticated by the electronic signature of the debtor in the reply email. This is
because multiple documents that are attached to each other can qualify as a security

Finance s security interest would still attach to the bikes acquired after March 1, 2015
even though there security agreement did not contain the terms or henceforth

inventory would be sold and replenished and would therefore, take a security
The, Or Involuntary Musical Imagery
Introduction
Earworms, or involuntary musical imagery (INMI, as cited in Liikkanen, 2008) is a
phenomenon where a song plays in one s own mind repeatedly in an involuntary
manner. It has been researched that popular songs are the most dominant earworms ,
but this experiment has intentions to analyse earworm data from songs having
varying levels of popularity and experience for a variety of resulting data. The aim
for this experiment is how likely a song would become an earworm via two
conditions. Firstly, on how much the participant likes the song after listening to it 6
times, or the estimated amount of times the song has been listened to. This was
measured by the amount of earworm episodes and their length of time. Previous
research has outlined potential parallels of INMI and other memory types, or perhaps
an association on tempo recollection of an earworm and the sensorimotor system .
Previous research
A previous published experiment Tracking the Tempo of Involuntary Musical
Imagery in Everyday Life has introduced new ways to research the INMI
phenomenon, and this paper is trying to achieve something similar. The aim there
was to find how accurate a person can recall the tempo of an INMI and whether an

Questions On Derivation Of Equations
DERIVATION OF EQUATIONS The purpose of this section is to find the
analytical expressions which relate the S parameters of an SUS, S _ij and error
box, S _ijE, to the whole simulation results, S _ijm. Fig. 3 describes the network
flow graph of a typical and all inclusive simulation involving an SUS, shifted (de
embedded) reference planes and wave ports. According to the wave port characteristic
(Appendix), the de embedded sections are non reflecting transmission lines with the
following known S parameter matrix:
S_(L_dmbd )=(в– (0 e^( ОіL_dmb )@e^( ОіL_dmb ) 0@ )) (1)
In which Оі is derived from the wave port 2D cross section calculation and Ldmb is
the distance that reference plane is moved. In order to develop the ... Show more

For this purpose, two THRU simulations, as explained in the above method section,
are performed with two different lengths (L _dmb1 and L _dmb2). Fig.3B shows the
network flow graph of a THRU simulation. In this case, the equations (14) and (18)
are simplified with S_11=S_22=0 and S_12=S_21=1 and the analytical
expressions for the error box related S parameters are derived as functions of the
two simulated THRU S parameters (TT) and S parameters of the de embedded part
as expressed in (1). The L _dmb1 and L _dmb2 are selected the shortest possible
considering the minimum frequency range (more than the maximum wavelength), but
their length difference must be in such a way that their
Case Summary
Dawei ChenCase Summary Confucius, Machiavelli, and Rousseau According to
the Case context, we can find out many ideas about leadership. First, from the
great Chinese ancient philosopher Confucius that we can learn that a phenomenal
leader needs to love people and use virtue to rule a society. The ultimate goal for a
leader is to fulfill everyone s demand. In order to achieve this goal; a leader must be a
sage or at least a very wise man to set up a very extraordinary example for others to
learn. However, this opinion has a very obvious flaw that people cannot be as good
as he think and most people are selfish that this kind of leadership is not going to be
successful. Second, From the Machiavelli, we can acquire the idea which... Show

second, their leadership and opinions exhibit us a great culture diversity. In
Eastern culture in particular in China because of the long history, there were lots
of great leaders in their history; this situation establishes a social structure that
people prefer to have a great sage such as Confucius to lead their lives rather than
the social contract (law). Moreover, in this social structure, leaders need to be a
very excellent man to lead the direction of social development, but sometimes it
does not work very well because most leaders are flawed normal people. Compare
this circumstance to the Western, most Western states does not have such long
history this lead to a quite different situation. Even if there were lots of great leader
people still prefer to set a conference to discuss the social problems. This idea could
be dated from the ancient Grace. In recent period particularly in revolution era this
idea spread very fast and filled into people very deeply. This shows us very obvious
assertion that leaders need to use different strategies in different culture background.
Third, leaders need to combine different skills to achieve a successful leadership. In
human history, society are changing very fast, many ideologists and wise man once
gave us the idea that what is leadership. In my eyes, a competent leadership is a

The Last Emperors Summary
Review of The Last Emperors: A Social History of Qing Imperial Institutions, Written
by Evelyn S. Rawski
Evelyn S. Rawski s book called The Last Emperors: A Social History of Qing
Imperial Institutions focuses on China s last imperial dynasty Qing (1644 1911),
describing the political and social life of the Qing s emperors and their families from
the Manchu rulers perspective. As is shown in this book, from the modern historical
opinion, the reason why the Qing emperors succeeded in their dominance was the
early Manchu rulers adoption of a policy of systematic sinicization .1 However,
Rawski is against for this point of view, and gives her own thesis. Rawski argues that
the Manchus were not imitators, in fact, they were skillful innovators ... Show more

Elliott at the University of California, Santa Barbara shows many unique opinions.
In this review, Elliott states the situation of studies on Chinese history from the
17th century to the 20th century before 1980s, in order to show the great
significance of the publication of Rawski s book towards the study of Qing
dynasty, and how the author challenges the dominant views. In the author s
opinion, Rawski s book makes changes in the way of studying late Chinese
imperial society, thus handling with the historical events and institutions more
adequately. And then, Elliott describes how the content of the book is divided into
three parts, and the major topic of each part. Finally, Elliott presents the issues of
Rawski s book. He thinks that the problem lies in how Rawski makes connection
with the issue of the Manchu s identity. In summary, Rawski s work on the Qing
imperium provides a new perspective on the Manchu rulers role in the economy,
politics and culture of the Qing dynasty. In her book, Rawski shows her
historiographical complexity of the topics and sources, her good sense to detail, and
the breadth and depth of her research. For people who are interested in the Qing
dynasty or other imperial dynasties, and Chinese history scholars, Rawski s book is a
good choice for them to study the art of leadership, religion, imperial and bureaucratic
institutions, family and social structure in that
A Weekend at a NASCAR Event Essay
A Weekend at NASCAR
As most people are aware, NASCAR is the fastest growing sport in America.
NASCAR, or the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, has become a
national phenomenon and is attended by millions of Americans of year.
The NASCAR season begins in February at the speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida,
and runs until November where it concludes at the final race in Homestead, Florida.
The season consists of 36 races at tracks throughout the United States. Some tracks,
such as Daytona and Texas, sponsor two races each season. So what is the appeal for
so many people?
RACE WEEK
In football (College or Pro) tailgating may last several hours on game day. For
NASCAR fans, tailgating can last a week. Fans will ... Show more content on

THE FAN
One of the first things a real NASCAR fan does is to choose their favorite driver to
cheer for. Without choosing a driver, a NASCAR race is just a bunch of cars going
fast around the track. Not choosing a driver would be like attending a football
game and not having a favorite team. You re just not invested. A real fan will also
use a track scanner, which is a radio that allows you to hear the conversations
between the driver and crew chief, as well as his spotter. If you don t have one,
they are available to rent at the track. A radio or scanner also helps you stay abreast
of what s happening on the track. Since these cars are moving at speeds of 150 to
200 miles per hour, there are the inevitable crashes, so the scanner helps you to know
what happened.
GENERAL ATMOSPHERE
The atmosphere is electric. It s hard to imagine that a single race can bring more
than 200,000 people! The track at Texas Motor Speedway is very fan friendly in
that fans can bring small coolers for their drinks and food. This is unlike the food
concessions at other sporting events where you are forced to fork over $5.00 for a
hot dog. The only limitation is no glass bottles. The fans are very friendly and
everyone seems to get along well. There seems to be a genuine kinship and
camaraderie among NASCAR fans. Real racing fans don t want to see wrecks; they
want to want to

  • 3. What Are Edgar Allan Poe s Accomplishments Edgar Allan Poe is one of the most well known poets in history. His creative and mysterious personality played a major role in his upcoming fame. Poe was very inspirational about his works and showed great emotion throughout his poems, which credited him as one of the best poets of all time. The author wrote many ideal poems, but his most famous poem, The Raven, is what made him really stand out from all the others. Even though Poe had a very difficult life, he did not let that hinder him, instead he used that to his advantage and expressed it in his poems. While he never accomplished financial success, Edgar Allan Poeis recognized as one of the first American writers to become a major figure in literature. Poe was born on January 19, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He had to work extremely hard to receive the awards that he did. Edgar Allan Poe s most famous poem, The Raven, was a popular sensation. It appeared in the New York Evening Mirror. In a short period of time after that, it was reprinted and illustrated. The poem tells the story of an anonymous lover, who is mourning over the death of a lost love, is being visited by a talking raven. The repetition of one word the raven uses is slowly driving him mad. The tone used in the poem gives a sense of mystery and supernatural things occuring. Poe did not only set himself up for success by writing this poem, but he also inspired others and influenced their work that they would do in the future. The Raven is known as one of the most renowned in English literature (source 4). Coming in a close second to the most famous poem he wrote is Annabel Lee. This was the last complete poem by the famous author. It was published in New York Tribune on October 9, 1849. He uses a reoccuring theme in the poem, the death of a lover. The narrator believed that because the relationship he had with Annabel Lee was close to perfect, the angels became envious and caused her passing. He felt as if their love was so intense that it could not be replaced. In writing this poem, he described a passionate love that everyone desires to have. Poe also wrote a wonderful piece with the title, The Haunted Palace. It starts out as

Major Discoveries in Electrical Communication in the 1800’s The nineteenth century was a very prolific era of discovery in electrical knowledge and technologies that laid the foundation for modern electrical communication. During this period of time the foundations of modern electrically based technologies were discovered. The nineteenth century began with a debate between Luigi Galvani, and Alessandro Volta regarding the source of electricityin Galvani s famous frog experiment. These debates lead to the invention of the battery by Volta, and the invention of Volta s. Volta s discoveries would lead the way for Ohm s law several years later. However, before that discovery was made Hans Christian Г rstead discovered electromagnetism, which was then used by AndrГ© Marie AmperГЁ to show that magnetism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Galvani noticed that when a metal scalpel was brought close one of the nerves in the frog that the frog s leg would move. Galvani stated that the electricity observed in the frogs was intrinsic the nerves of the frog. Galvani used multiple different metals combinations to demonstrate the electric phenomenon. He would further demonstrate that metals were seemingly unneeded. He did this by manipulating the nerves and muscles of the frogs in such way that caused the same twitch, as when a metal object was brought near. The publication of his research in 1791 would peak the interest of Alessandro Volta. Volta was convinced that Galvani s animal electricity was not the result of the animal tissues, but the metals within those tissues. In an effort to prove this Volta invented the battery . Volta s battery was built out of alternating zinc and copper disks with cloth (or a similar medium) soaked in salt water [10]. Volta stated the following regarding the nature of electricity with respect to Galvani s animal electricity: Herein lies the whole secret, the whole magic of Galvanism. It is simply an artificial electricity, which acts under the impulse of contacts between different conductors [9]. At this point Volta s theory of electricity by contact was fully accepted. Just after Volta s greatest discovery and before that of Ohm, Hans Christian Г rstead discovered magnetism. Г rstead conducted a series of experiments that
  • 5. Meaning Of Freedom In America Freedom has been discussed for a while now and yet no one can agree it exists. The conflict over the meaning of freedom continues to exist from the civil war, throughout the sixties. The Civil War was fought over the question of what freedom means in America, for us in this present date to have freedom is being able to enter any public place whenever you want without being told you cannot enter, also not having to worry if you are going to be arrested if you enter the wrong restroom or don t give up your seat to a white person. For more than a century African Americans demanded and fought for freedom; progressive freedom. Some of their methods were: nonviolence, direct action, boycotts, such as the successful Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955 56, and civil resistance. A great example of the nonviolent method initiated by Martin Luther King Jr. is when Dr. King was closing a SCLC convention in Birmingham, Alabama when a man walked in and started hitting Dr. King in the face with his fist, spinning him half way around. Dr. King did not hit back what so ever. According to Rosa Parks, that was present in the same event, all Dr. King said was, Don t touch him! We have to pray for him (43). He was referring to the man that hit him and Martin Luther King Jr. did not press charges against the man. It takes a lot of courage not to respond with anger when you are being aggravated physically. Dr. King s actions made people admire him because it is easy to hate than to forgive all the injustices and the mistreatment for such a long period of time. At times I am almost sure Martin Luther King Jr. thought if all his hard work and dedication was going to pay off. Another activist was Malcolm X one of his famous line was, By any means necessary , he believed in fighting back physically, whatever needed to be done to get freedom was going to be done, he wanted blacks to take
  • 6. Homogeneous Mixtures Lab Report Thursday, October 28 in Ms. O Brien s science class we performed two experiments. The first experiment was called the Mixed Substances Lab. In this lab we were to see how properties of individual substances compare with properties of mixed substances. There were three research definitions that we needed to know. The first was the definition of a mixture, which is a combination of two or more substances that are not combined chemically but physically. Secondly, the definition of a homogeneous mixture. Homogeneous mixtures are mixtures in which the substance is uniform in structure or composition throughout. Lastly, the definition of heterogeneous mixtures. This is when a solution consists of dissimilar parts of elements or when you can see the individual elements. Our hypothesis was if the properties of individual substances compare with properties of mixed substances and we mix water with cornstarch, then it will create a substance that s properties switch between a solid and liquid that is a homogeneous mixture. The objective of the Investigating Mixtures Lab was to observe that not all liquids behave the same way when mixed with other liquids. The hypothesis was if not all liquids behave the same way when mixed with other liquids and I mix colored water and vegetable oil then the vegetable oil will rise to the top and separate. ... If droplets of soap were added to the mixture of water and oil, the water would be on the bottom because it is the densest liquid. The oil would be on the top, which leaves the soap to be in the middle. This is because the oil is the least dense material and the soap is less dense than water, but denser than oil. If this lab was done again with different types of oil it would be expected to result in the same order. The water is denser than all

The rise in mobile phone usage as a result of 2G was explosive and this era also saw the advent of prepaid mobile phones. In 1991 the first GSM network (Radiolinja) launched in Finland. In general the frequencies used by 2G systems in Europe were higher than those in America, though with some overlap. For example, the 900 MHz frequency range was used for both 1G and 2G systems in Europe, so the 1G systems were rapidly closed down to make space for the 2G systems. • 11. The Outsider Identity Of Society In our world, almost everyone can be grouped as either an outsider or an insider; they may lose insider status, but one s society makes it nearly impossible to lose outsider status. This theme is represented in Nathanial Hawthorns novel, The Scarlet Letter, as well as the articles, The First White President, by Ta Nehesi Coates, and American Schools Are Failing Nonconformist Kids, Here s How by Elizabeth Weil. Some may disagree with the idea that culture reinforces one s stutus, as shown in Weil s article s support of the idea that society could change the struggling students state of being an outsider. In reality, one s status is directly caused by their society, for example in The Scarlet Letter, Hester is demoted to the outside when she violates the strict Puritandoctrine, which prohibits adultery. Similarly, Coate s article tells that his society s support of the white supremacist leader, President Donald Trump, is a major contribution to African American s permanent outsider status. In all, as shown in these sources, it can be seen that the zeitgeist of the people in a particular period has a profound effect on people s classification as an insider or an outsider. The article American Schools Are Failing Nonconformist Kids, Here s How, goes against the claim that society is the main culprit in distinguishing an outsider from an insider, by putting the blame on the education system. In her article, Weil provides many examples on how, were it not for the schools

We are all made in His image therfore we are made perfectly and most beautiful. We can find beauty in God and only God. If we do not find God then we cannot find true beauty. We could look at outward beauty but it only lasts until you grow old. You could look at inward beauty and in the end find emptiness because you are nothing without God. You can look at God s creation but it is not true beauty if God hasn t opened your eyes.Gabriela Mistral(1977),described beauty as

(Power 65) As Maud Gonne said without Yeats there would have been no Literary Revival in Ireland. Without the inspiration of that revival and glorification of beauty and heroic virtue I doubt there would have been an Easter week (24). Yeats was born in 1865 near Dublin in Ireland and through his literary work contributed in the cultural nationalism of Ireland. He imagined an Ireland that took shape as modern Ireland. (Frayne 360) In his youth he excluded Swift, Sterne, Burke and Berkeley from his list of Irish tradition but afterward he declared them as his predecessors. He favoured genuine literature but was against any kind of propaganda. He excluded Thomas Moore, Thomas Davis and John Mitchel inspite of the presence of nationalism in their poetry because they used English method in their poetry and did not contributed in enriching Irish literary tradition. • 17. Steel Barrio Summary Michael Innis Jimenez s Steel Barrio examines the way Mexicans and Mexican Americans lived in south Chicago during the 1920 s and onward. The book provides a general idea on the lifestyle of people coming from Mexican descent; from the struggle they tried to overcome, to the ideas they developed. It seems like survival was a key part of the Mexican life during that time, especially being surrounded by their white counterparts and hate. The appropriate word for their survival in Chapter 6 of the book is resistance. After reading the chapter on Resistance, it dawned upon myself that most Mexicans living in America were prideful of where they came from even though Mexico was in poor economic shape at the time. The main point in the book is to draw an overall picture of Mexican life in south Chicago, but the main point in the chapter was to point out the will of the Mexican to resist American assimilation also referred to as Americanization . The overall value of the worldwide product placement market, including the barter /exposure value of non paid placements, will increase 18.4% compounded annually to $13.96 billion in 2010 (PQ Media, August 2006). Both Ellis and Wilson suggest that the pursuit of wealth in America according to the American dream is self destructive. In American Psycho, Ellis imposes his claim by drawing parallels between the hunt for wealth and violence, by illustrating a sense of indifference to violence with wealth being the ultimate concern, and by linking greed with the physically grotesque. Similarly, Ellis purports the same notion of the destructive nature of the American dream in its actuality by connecting wealth and

Comparison between various channel widths ranging from 1 to 6 mm describes the better picture of how the flow is affected by the hydrophobic drag inside the wax and SU 8 barrier. The results indicate a slower profile in the case of wax printed channels as compared to SU 8. This is evident from the high value of hydrophobicity of wax than SU 8. Moreover, it is confirmed by the droplet pictures, which are inset. A droplet of water on the top of wax surface makes a contact angle of 132В° and 86В° for SU 8. This shows the higher hydrophobic nature of wax. As water propagates inside a smaller width channel, the ratio of this hydrophobic drag, caused by the surrounding barrier, increases. Paulsen provides a clear cut charge to a question many ask, bail problems are constitutional problems in the United States (1966, pg. 110). In this particular case, the prosecutors argued for denial of bail, that the police needed more time to correlate information they had on persons in custody... that persons released on bail might resume looting (Paulsen, 1966, pg. 110). The judge found that the defendants could be released on bail, but made bail $3000 higher than normal for the crimes they were arrested for (Paulsen, 1966). Paulsen s conclusion was foreshadowing the effects that the bail system was having on America, statutes in the next decade are likely to improve the administration of the bail system by providing the means for individualizing bail decisions and by providing release under various conditions other than bail (1966, pg. 125). Paulsen does discuss the thoughts judges may have when they make their decisions, citing, some trial judges are probably influenced by the fear that the accused will tamper with the evidence. Other judges believe that a taste of jail before releasing the accused on probation is beneficial (1966, pg. 114). While racial disparity is a huge

The, Or Involuntary Musical Imagery Introduction Earworms, or involuntary musical imagery (INMI, as cited in Liikkanen, 2008) is a phenomenon where a song plays in one s own mind repeatedly in an involuntary manner. It has been researched that popular songs are the most dominant earworms , but this experiment has intentions to analyse earworm data from songs having varying levels of popularity and experience for a variety of resulting data. The aim for this experiment is how likely a song would become an earworm via two conditions. Firstly, on how much the participant likes the song after listening to it 6 times, or the estimated amount of times the song has been listened to. This was measured by the amount of earworm episodes and their length of time. Previous research has outlined potential parallels of INMI and other memory types, or perhaps an association on tempo recollection of an earworm and the sensorimotor system . Previous research A previous published experiment Tracking the Tempo of Involuntary Musical Imagery in Everyday Life has introduced new ways to research the INMI phenomenon, and this paper is trying to achieve something similar. The aim there was to find how accurate a person can recall the tempo of an INMI and whether an INMI was affected by an effective state. A conventional approach over four days was used for the method of self reporting data where a participant uses a watch to record the tempo via tapping it, and a paper diary with a multitude of data to fill out in regards of an

Questions On Derivation Of Equations DERIVATION OF EQUATIONS The purpose of this section is to find the analytical expressions which relate the S parameters of an SUS, S _ij and error box, S _ijE, to the whole simulation results, S _ijm. Fig. 3 describes the network flow graph of a typical and all inclusive simulation involving an SUS, shifted (de embedded) reference planes and wave ports. According to the wave port characteristic (Appendix), the de embedded sections are non reflecting transmission lines with the following known S parameter matrix: S_(L_dmbd )=(в– (0 e^( ОіL_dmb )@e^( ОіL_dmb ) 0@ )) (1) In which Оі is derived from the wave port 2D cross section calculation and Ldmb is the distance that reference plane is moved. In order to develop the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this purpose, two THRU simulations, as explained in the above method section, are performed with two different lengths (L _dmb1 and L _dmb2). Fig.3B shows the network flow graph of a THRU simulation. In this case, the equations (14) and (18) are simplified with S_11=S_22=0 and S_12=S_21=1 and the analytical expressions for the error box related S parameters are derived as functions of the two simulated THRU S parameters (TT) and S parameters of the de embedded part as expressed in (1). The L _dmb1 and L _dmb2 are selected the shortest possible considering the minimum frequency range (more than the maximum wavelength), but their length difference must be in such a way that their
  • 39. Case Summary Dawei ChenCase Summary Confucius, Machiavelli, and Rousseau According to the Case context, we can find out many ideas about leadership. First, from the great Chinese ancient philosopher Confucius that we can learn that a phenomenal leader needs to love people and use virtue to rule a society. The ultimate goal for a leader is to fulfill everyone s demand. In order to achieve this goal; a leader must be a sage or at least a very wise man to set up a very extraordinary example for others to learn. However, this opinion has a very obvious flaw that people cannot be as good as he think and most people are selfish that this kind of leadership is not going to be successful. Second, From the Machiavelli, we can acquire the idea which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... second, their leadership and opinions exhibit us a great culture diversity. In Eastern culture in particular in China because of the long history, there were lots of great leaders in their history; this situation establishes a social structure that people prefer to have a great sage such as Confucius to lead their lives rather than the social contract (law). Moreover, in this social structure, leaders need to be a very excellent man to lead the direction of social development, but sometimes it does not work very well because most leaders are flawed normal people. Compare this circumstance to the Western, most Western states does not have such long history this lead to a quite different situation. Even if there were lots of great leader people still prefer to set a conference to discuss the social problems. This idea could be dated from the ancient Grace. In recent period particularly in revolution era this idea spread very fast and filled into people very deeply. This shows us very obvious assertion that leaders need to use different strategies in different culture background. Third, leaders need to combine different skills to achieve a successful leadership. In human history, society are changing very fast, many ideologists and wise man once gave us the idea that what is leadership. In my eyes, a competent leadership is a combination of

Rawski s book called The Last Emperors: A Social History of Qing Imperial Institutions focuses on China s last imperial dynasty Qing (1644 1911), describing the political and social life of the Qing s emperors and their families from the Manchu rulers perspective. As is shown in this book, from the modern historical opinion, the reason why the Qing emperors succeeded in their dominance was the early Manchu rulers adoption of a policy of systematic sinicization .1 However, Rawski is against for this point of view, and gives her own thesis. Rawski argues that the Manchus were not imitators, in fact, they were skillful innovators ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elliott at the University of California, Santa Barbara shows many unique opinions. In this review, Elliott states the situation of studies on Chinese history from the 17th century to the 20th century before 1980s, in order to show the great significance of the publication of Rawski s book towards the study of Qing dynasty, and how the author challenges the dominant views. In the author s opinion, Rawski s book makes changes in the way of studying late Chinese imperial society, thus handling with the historical events and institutions more adequately. And then, Elliott describes how the content of the book is divided into three parts, and the major topic of each part. Finally, Elliott presents the issues of Rawski s book. He thinks that the problem lies in how Rawski makes connection with the issue of the Manchu s identity. In summary, Rawski s work on the Qing imperium provides a new perspective on the Manchu rulers role in the economy, politics and culture of the Qing dynasty. In her book, Rawski shows her historiographical complexity of the topics and sources, her good sense to detail, and the breadth and depth of her research. For people who are interested in the Qing dynasty or other imperial dynasties, and Chinese history scholars, Rawski s book is a good choice for them to study the art of leadership, religion, imperial and bureaucratic institutions, family and social structure in that
  • 41. A Weekend at a NASCAR Event Essay A Weekend at NASCAR As most people are aware, NASCAR is the fastest growing sport in America. NASCAR, or the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, has become a national phenomenon and is attended by millions of Americans of year. The NASCAR season begins in February at the speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, and runs until November where it concludes at the final race in Homestead, Florida. The season consists of 36 races at tracks throughout the United States. Some tracks, such as Daytona and Texas, sponsor two races each season. So what is the appeal for so many people? RACE WEEK In football (College or Pro) tailgating may last several hours on game day. For NASCAR fans, tailgating can last a week. Fans will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... THE FAN One of the first things a real NASCAR fan does is to choose their favorite driver to cheer for. Without choosing a driver, a NASCAR race is just a bunch of cars going fast around the track. Not choosing a driver would be like attending a football game and not having a favorite team. You re just not invested. A real fan will also use a track scanner, which is a radio that allows you to hear the conversations between the driver and crew chief, as well as his spotter. If you don t have one, they are available to rent at the track. A radio or scanner also helps you stay abreast of what s happening on the track. Since these cars are moving at speeds of 150 to 200 miles per hour, there are the inevitable crashes, so the scanner helps you to know what happened. GENERAL ATMOSPHERE The atmosphere is electric. It s hard to imagine that a single race can bring more than 200,000 people! The track at Texas Motor Speedway is very fan friendly in that fans can bring small coolers for their drinks and food. This is unlike the food concessions at other sporting events where you are forced to fork over $5.00 for a hot dog. The only limitation is no glass bottles. The fans are very friendly and everyone seems to get along well. There seems to be a genuine kinship and camaraderie among NASCAR fans. Real racing fans don t want to see wrecks; they want to want to
