2. Nietzsche Overcoming Nihilism Analysis
Friedrich Nietzsche: Overcoming Nihilism
The understanding of Friedrich Nietzsche s argument suggests that we can overcome
nihilism. Nihilism suggests that all values are untrue and nothing is justifiable, and
Nietzsche believes one can overcome it by revaluating our values (Nietzsche et al.
1887). From the following quote, I understand that Nietzsche has two main
arguments, one of which is a cultural debunking argument which refers to a social
selection and the other is a consequence based argument which is the bad
consequences of us subscribing to the slave morality. Considering these two
arguments, Nietzsche notions that by devaluating our values, one could start seeking
power and answers. One final argument Nietzsche mentions is that we are all
incomplete nihilists and we need to become complete nihilists by creating our own
values. All in all, Nietzsche claims that cultural debunking arguments, consequence
based arguments and devaluating our values will help one overcome nihilism.
Firstly, by culturally debunking theories, Nietzsche believes we can find meaning in
something that is not already there. Nihilism states that existence has no aim , unity
or truth to it, making life valueless as a result (1888). Nietzsche states that we have
to put meaning into this fictitious world and by doing so, we can deposit a true world
beyond the world we re familiar with. In premise one of the cultural debunking
argument, Nietzsche states that society has a concern with
3. An Analysis of the Populist and Progressive Era
In the words of Thomas Jefferson, A wise and frugal Government, which shall
restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to
regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from
the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government,
and this is necessary to close the circlue of our felicities. (Jefferson, 1801) This idea
echoed far beyond it s time and into the minds and hearts of the Populist s, and
became the center and the driving force of the Progressive era. During the gilded age

States was increasing dramatically; and corporate businesses were becoming

(Foner, 2010, pp. 680 681) As the Populist Party increased in size, Populist organized
a convention which is creditably known as the Populist Platform or Omaha
Convention
The Omaha Convention which took place in Omaha, Nebraska in 1892. According
to Eric Foner, The platform put forth a long list of proposals...direct election of
U.S. senators, government control of the currency, a graduated tax income, system
of low cost public financing to enable farmers to market their crops, and
recognition of the right of workers to form labor union. (Foner, 2010, p. 682)
Although many farmers joined this cause, it was primarily farmers, and with the
major population of United States consisting of industrial workers plans didn t go
far. Some Populists tried to gain more members by trying to unite black and white
farmers as one but because of the racism between southern farmers, the alliance in the
southern areas would not allow blacks from partaking in meetings. So Populist tried
to join forces with factory workers by engaging and supporting the worker rights, but
industrial workers didn t appeal to the Populists ideology, though both fought against
large corporations their political standpoint was different. Farmers wanted low tariff
prices and higher priced agricultural resources

5. The Effects Of Parallel Trading In The Baby Formula
Market
What happens when Chinese consumers lose confidence in the ability of domestic
producers to bring safe and quality products to market, especially when said products
aim to fulfill an essential human need the safe nurturing of infants? The wake of the
Chinese baby formula scandal has not subsided, with Chinese consumers rejecting
domestic outputs with preference for northern produced goods (Nguyen, Chi Chur
Choa Hwang, 2016, 1). Compounding Chinese consumer sentiment, recent trends in
market liberalization and the growing ease of ecommerce have contributed to rising
parallel trading activity. Parallel trading is the practice of cross border travellers
taking advantage of the price difference, or arbitrage, of certain products produced...

Moreover, daigous often undercut any existing quotas, tariffs, and customs
regulations in the importing country, leading to market distortions there as well.
In Northern countries, parallel trading has lead to severe supply shortages in the
home market, leaving consumers frustrated and empty handed (Korporaal, 2017).
This practice does not go unnoticed, as consumers and producers, as well as
governing authorities, are forced to take action. In Australia, some retailers have
implemented quotas on infant formula, while Hong Kong, a market facing similar
daigou activity to Australia, has limited the quantity of formula that travellers can
take through customs at 1.8 kg (Nguyen et al., 2016).
Price discrimination is the practice of offering the same product to different
consumers at different prices. This policy allows the producer to exploit the
differences in elasticity of demand between buyers. A seller of baby formula could
charge a higher price in Chinese markets where buyers are willing to pay high
prices, and lower prices in the Australian market where buyers are less price
sensitive. Price discrimination allows the producer to capture a higher profit between
both markets than if they were charging a uniform price (Maskus, 2000, 1275).

What are the positive effects sports have on children? This question has a wide

Sports can influence a child s well being far greater than most can imagine. From
their mental and physical development, to their bright futures, sports playan important
role in a young boy or girl s lifetime. Specifically, tennis is one of the best sports to

Other sports may provide excellent health benefits, as well as stimulate mental and

physically, mentally and emotionally. (Groppel) Along with the teaching of respect,
sportsmanship, healthy habits, fairness, and the basics, tennis helps kids develop
hand eye coordination, positive characteristics, and acquire tactical thinking.
Tennis is a very mental game. It is optimal that you have control over your
emotions as well as figure out your opponent s mentality. The tactical aspect of the
game keeps your mind occupied while your body gets a good workout the short
term goals of reaching that little yellow ball in time makes it a complex sport full of
small rewards and limitless challenges. (Cramton) Teaching a kid these rather
complex ideas from a young age will not only aid them with their tennis skills but
also their life skills to come in the future.
Tennis has its benefits that jump starts a child s development and knowledge of
life lessons, but it also has its benefits of providing a future for young players who
work hard to be successful. These futures can include athletic scholarships, a
professional career, or possibly a job teaching others tennis. There is also the effect
of a person s happiness in the future. Tennis players scored higher in vigor, optimism
and self esteem while scoring lower in depression, anger, confusion, anxiety and
7. The Sandwitch Factory
The Sandwich Factory
A) The short story The Sandwich Factory is written by Jason Kennedy and deals
with a man s experiences doing a low paid job at a sandwich factory. It tells the
story of how the man needs to be able to deal with a lot of things about himself and
other people, to do the work and concentrate about it. We get a very good insight
into his situation, but it is very much marked by his personal thoughts about it, and
therefore it becomes more or less useless for us to relate to. It is very obvious that
this man doesn t like his job, and we even get the feeling that he doesn t like his life
either.

The manager, however, seems to think that he knows how everybody thinks, as he
believes that the employees don t like to be shunted around. It is obvious that he hasn

therefore be connected with the narrator s thoughts in the short story. Picture 2, a still
from Modern Times by Charlie Chaplin is a very interesting picture in this situation,
as it represents society s thoughts about the huge mass productions that suddenly
overwhelmed the world. The film makes fun of the massive factory production that
not only made a lot of people unemployed, but also made the world go mad. It can
relate to the short story because of the way it uses irony to deal with a huge problem.
B) The statement: a figure of speech is an expression or comparison that relies not
on its literal meaning, but on its connotations and suggestions. is a very good way of
describing figures of speeches.
Dickens seems to be using it a lot, and the text is actually very much marked by
figures of speeches. As an example there is a comparison between the color of the

between the steam engine and an elephant: [...] the piston of the steam engine worked

of the impact of these driving forces of change?
The factors that are driving change the textbook industry are the amount of
technology that is used amongst students today such as ipads, kindles and laptops
and the demand for online textbooks for convenience. Another driving change in the
addition to textbook industry is the platform such as the McGraw Hill Connect and
the Learn Smart.
My assessment of the impact of these driving forces of change is that the textbook
company should innovate and move towards more electronic textbooks because as
technology becomes more prevalent

The first mentioned one is that of activity quota. These include activities that a
salesperson needs to perform regarding sales and these may include; making calls

mentioned is that of financial quotas. This includes an expense quota this includes
a budgeted amount allocated to the salesperson with making sales in a specific
area, this is used as a cost control measure by sales. It also includes the profit
quotas, which includes in it the gross margin quota, the contribution margin quota
and the net profit quota. This can either be set for a salesperson, a branch or a
group of products. The third mentioned quota is that of combination quotas.
Companies which are not happy with any one of the quota usually combine two or
more of this quotas. This seeks to use the strengths of several types of quotas. The
fourth of the mentioned quotas is that of sales volume quotas. This quota may be
established for a certain area, a product line, a customer or any combination of
these. It is more effective to set a monthly or quarterly quota than an annual one. 3 I

11. Art Vs Old Art
Art is a good way for people to relax and admire the power of human creativity, a lot
of pieces of art will make you agape at the beauty of it. However, old art pieces
created centuries ago are starting to fall apart. Scientific studies are being
conducted on each piece of art trying to figure out how exactly the artist created
these masterpieces, and to possibly find a way to stop them from withering away,
and to keep them around for many more centuries to come and so many more
generations of people can see. Science has some part in everything, even art. There
are many different ways science is involved in art, they can conduct a study on
what people like in art to try make a new masterpiece, or why people are so
infatuated with the older pieces. However, this is not the main studies on art. Old
art is falling apart and we need to find a way to fix it. A group of scientists from
Italy have started a program called MOLAB in which they go to art galleries across
the world and study art pieces. They have looked at countless pieces across the
world, and have figured out the many different colors in some art pieces which can
range to about 600 different colors; they also find out how many layers of paint are
on one paintingor on one specific spot. Jason Palmer, a scientist working for MOLAB
was working on a newer painting called Victory Boogie Woogie by Piet Mondrian

Furthermore, upon assessing Christina I noticed that she was experiencing
breathlessness and showing signs of distress. According to Kisiel and Perkins (2006)
recording vital observation is an important aspect of nursing care as this provides the
physiological state of the patient. At this point my main priority was to assess the
patient s baseline. I also felt it was unnecessary to disturb Christina with questions
regarding her history and identity. As this could have leaded the patient become more
breathlessness.
However, I was distracted by the patient s breathlessness and distress. Therefore the
consequence of my actions was that I wrote the vital signs on the wrong chart. The
lack of proper documentation could have lead a negative impact on the patient health
and can ultimately cause fatal consequences. The NMC (2008) requires practitioners
to make correct documentation as this could cause dangerous consequences for
patients and result in further disciplinary action.
Looking back, Nurse James would have been held accountable for my action. The
NMC (2008) clearly states that a registered nurse is obligated to ensure the safety
of patients at all times. On the other hand, as a student I may be held responsible
by the university and possible could face being penalised (Pellat 2006). Upon
reflection I feel that as a student nurse at advanced stage of my training I was not
able to work under pressure and multitask. I should have been able

Bernard Williams declares that the proper grounds for distribution of healthcare is ill
health and that this statement is a necessary truth. In this paper, I will argue that
Williams is correct in believing that the distribution of medical care should be based
on the ill health, but is incorrect in his assumption that this claim is in fact a
necessary truth. I will begin by explaining the relevance of inequality to the question
of distribution of healthcare, with the focus being on the distinction between
inequality of merit and the inequality of need. I will then move on to illustrating
why Williams believes that medical care should be distributed on the basis of ill
health. Finally, I will explain why I believe that Williams is... Show more content on

One important and perhaps obvious distinction to make here is that everyone who
has a need for a particular good, also desires it and everyone who has sufficient
merit to receive a good may not necessarily desire it. Goods are frequently
distributed in accordance with one of these two principles. For example, a
university education is a good that is often acquired due to someone being in
possession of adequate merit. Goods which are distributed on the basis of merit,
often contain a competitive element. Forms of equality exist within this competitive
realm to secure the notion of fairness; this action is referred to as the preservation of
equality of opportunity. Williams articulates that, at least in theory, this aspect of the
good is distributed equally, preserving just distribution, while the good itself may
not be dispersed evenly. When speaking of one s right to healthcare, Williams
believes that the sole appropriate factor in distribution is ill health. This belief is
rooted in the notion that the inequality present in this situation is the inequality of
need and that merit should not be a factor in the distributive decision making
process. Williams believes that healthcare should be strictly distributed on the basis
of need. This may seem like a simple claim which is obvious to the distributor and
need not be analyzed further. However,

Company is a form of corporation and regulated by the Corporations Act. The legal

dependent upon human beings to make decisions on their behalf. The person who
makes or participates in making decisions that affect the whole or a substantial part

Firstly, a company is a separate legal entity[5]. Therefore, the debt of the company
is separated from its directors and shareholders. In addition, the money borrowed
will be recorded under the name of the company and the creditor will sue the
company if there is any unpaid account. However, creditor is playing an important
role in providing funds to assist company to manage its cashflow and expansions.
Hence, it can be said that creditor is the stakeholder and can effect the action of the
business. Nevertheless, according to the passage Re New World Alliance Pty Ltd
(1994) 122 ALR 531 at 550,[6] there is not direct duty owed by the director and
officer to the creditors because their duties are owed to the company. However, in
the situation when the directors of company consider a high risk project or it is in a
financial distress, the creditor has to occupy a weakness position. This is because, if
the project fails, shareholder will lose nothing but the money they have invested due
to the limited liability then the risk of filature will shift to the creditor. Hence, it
seems unfair for creditor who has not fiduciary protection and whose right is limited
by the contract. On the other hands,

were then you new exactly that you were going to die that day, cause they planned it.
Isn t that a horrible thought? Planning your own death. The American Foundation for
SuicidePrevention national not for profit organization that strives to prevent and
understand suicide using different methods, like research, education and advocacy.
Tonight I am going to inform you on the history of this foundation, what this
foundation does, and how to get involve with the foundation. First how did the
American Foundation for suicide get started?
A small group of individuals established a support group for suicide research and
education in 1987. These individuals all had someone in their family commit suicide,
and that is what pushed them to form this foundation to help prevent and suicides.
This group met up with scientist and created this foundation. By starting the
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, they have reached out to families, loves
ones and friends that lost someone to suicide. They also connected with thousands of
individuals who are debating suicide. The foundation started 50 plus local chapters in
35 states that reach out to hundreds of

Bridge...
While reading Paulo Freire s Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Gloria Anzaldua s
two articles from Borderlands and This Bridge We Call Home many concepts were
discussed that caught my attention. Freire and Anzaldua offer great, shocking
revelations that focus on change in the oppressed and the oppressors, as well as
bringing to attention the false sense of altruism, the seven stages of conocimiento
and moving away from cultural assimilation to enculturation. Throughout the
readings there were also an abundance of connections made to concepts within
community psychology such as first order vs second order changes, the
relationship between power and oppression and meaning focused coping.
Reflecting on the reading material made connecting to the concepts presented
effortless as much of what is talked about is easy to understand and relatable to
people of color, both authors intended audience. I personally connected my life
experiences to Freire s theory of how the oppressed are portrayed and its effect on
the oppressed as well as Anzaldua s seven stages of conocimiento. Revelations
Freire challenges the idea of true generosity versus false charity within Pedagogy of
the Oppressed (1968) where he says that True generosity consists precisely in fighting
to destroy the causes which nourish false charity. False charity constrains the fearful
and subdued, the rejects of life to extend their trembling hands (p. 45). Freire is
differentiating between true altruistic behaviors and
20. Positive and Negative Outcome of Globalization
Globalization has been taking place for centuries .The appearance of globalization
can been seen from colonization to industrial revolution. The impact of globalization
towards economy, technology and business can been explored in many ways.
Particularly, globalization has an enormous impact on global textiles and apparel
industry. Since definition of globalizationvaries to different people in different field,
this paper attempt to define the word globalization . Many studies have been
conducted in regards to positive and negative outcome of globalization(Lu , 2012;
Shen , 2008). The impact of globalization towards textiles and apparel industry had
been analyzed in both positive and negative perspective. In case of global textiles
and apparel industry, it has created jobs in developing countries. The knowledge and
technologies, which shared among countries, is another better side of globalization.
However, it also given rise to the exploitation of human and natural resource.
Exploitation of workers well being and scarcity of natural resources have been
discussed in this paper. The textiles and apparel firms face more challenges in this
globalization era.
The challenges in means of adopting technologies and competing with various trade
agreement systems to compete with each other apparel and textile manufacturer
countries been studied in this paper. To overcome these challenges, textile and
apparel firms taking steps those are not environmental and social friendly. The

22. Essay Muslim Women
Muslim Women
When I chose the topic of Americanization of immigrant Muslim women, I think I
expected a straightforward, easy to categorize, research project. On the contrary,
what I found was surprisingly different. While I think of myself as a liberal, open
minded female, this project gave me a very new perspective on myself and many of
my views as well. Muslim women living in the United States are quite honestly more
diverse, more complex, more structured, more contemplative, and more culturally
intuitive than I could have ever imagined in my limited experience and knowledge of
them. The Americanization I sought to illustrate turned out to resemble something
closer to a religio cultural tug of war than the predicted homogeneous ... Show more

When confronted with the awkwardness of transplantation from Middle Eastern to
American culture, the women of small Muslim communities and regions are often
comforted by the feeling of solidarity generated in the sharing of communal values of
their homelands.2 The problems, however, that arise within these communities
because of more orthodox belief and practice are numerous.
The continued promotion of an orthodox value system seems to be the root of the
thwarted prosperity of these small Muslim communities. Men, traditionally the
providers, have taken the majority seat of auto factory jobs in Dearborn, MI, but are
therefore at the whim of the plant (Ford Motor, in this particular case). When it
moves, the whole Muslim community must move with it to ensure future
employment. Women are often not allowed to work outside of the home, and in
times of recession, money is scarce, and usually welfare is the only answer. The
issue of discrimination against Muslim welfare recipients by U.S. social workers is a
topic that could probably take the rest of this paper, so I will limit my comments. The
main point I want to stress on this issue is that the tension produced by the
commitment to even this one Muslim fundamentalist practice is noteworthy. Women
in these situations can be
23. The Battle Of Jericho By Joshua Huxley
The battle of Jericho was Joshua s first battle as Moses successor. The Israelites
were commanded to march around the walls of Jericho once every day for seven
days. On the seventh day they marched around the wall seven times. The seventh
time they marched they shouted out, the priest blew their trumpets and the walls
came down. They overtook the city with a great vengeance and they killed every
person in the city (save Rahab and her household) and they burnt the city with fire
and everything in it. Joshua 6:12 27. The Battle of Ai: the Israelites saw that Ai was
small, so they sent only three thousand men to fight them. Ai won the battle and
killed about 36 men and chased them off their land. Joshua 7:2 6. Ai and Bethel
battle: Joshua chose 30,000 men of valor to go hide in an ambush behind Ai. Then
the rest of the army came to the front of the city and flee so that Ai would chase
them. The ambush came up and seized the city while it was unprotected and burnt it
down. Joshua 8:1 29. The Amorite confederacy: Jerusalem with king Adonizedek,
Hebron with king Horam, Jarmuth with king Piram, Lashish with king Japhia, Eglon
with king Debir. All these gathered together against Gibeon who had made peace
with Israel. Gibeon asked Joshua for help against these kingdoms, the Lord was with
Joshua. Israel slew them, and then chased them to Bethhoron. When they were going
down to Bethhoron the Lord cast down giant hail from heaven upon them. There

24. Caregiver Consequences
Question 3: Examine caregiver burden, its consequences, and approaches to
relieve it By introduction, caregiving to an elder population can be described as a
burden and it is not without significant consequences. The purpose of this essay is
to explore the burden, consequences and approaches to relief of this worthy task.
The burden of caregiving is involved. As one writer says, care giving is commonly
perceived as a chronic stressor, and caregivers often experience negative
psychological, behavioral, and physiological effects on their daily lives and health .
(Margaret F. Bevans, 2012). Along with other responsibilities, the caregiver has taken

Relief for the caregiver can come from increased understanding of the complex
family dynamics. Some of these such as when the child becoming more like the
parent, strained relationships with other adult children in the family and
unaddressed struggles in the family when understood and addressed can strengthen
the caregiver substantially. The engagement of additional family members can be
difficult to bring about but could really benefit the person rendering the care.
Shared responsibilities among men and women can help especially when tasks
that are customarily fulfilled by one is completed by the other. For those who are
spouses of caregivers, increased involvement with their children can relieve a
caregiver of feeling torn between the responsibility of caring or a parent or senior
and the potential neglect (and subsequent guilt) of their children. One of the best
reliefs available to caregivers is respite. Good sources are local churches or
synagogues or offices on aging. In one study, 25 caregivers gave respite services a
rating of high overall satisfaction. (Susan Mockus Parks and Karen Novielli, 2000). It
has been noted that respite care delays institutionalization, and can relieve caregiver

The Negative Effects of Cohabitation
Americans often talk as if marriage were a private, personal relationship. But when
two people live together for their own strictly private reasons, and carve out their
own, strictly private bargain about the relationship, we call that relationship not
marriage but Cohabitation. (Waite 1) Cohabitation is becoming increasingly
common and is a growing trend in America. According to the latest Census Bureau,
couples living together outside of marriage has reached an all time high, almost
eight times as many as in 1970. Most believe that cohabitation is a way to
experience the pre marriage life. And it is true. Majority of the people who chose to
cohabitated chose to cohabit first rather than marry directly. Recent figures show that
the majority people cohabited consisted of two thirds of young adult men and
women. Most of the cohabitations are temporary. They typically last about a year or
a little more and then either disintegrate into marriages or dissolve. According to
Linda J. Waite, cohabitation is not long term alternative for marriage. It remained in
the courtship process or a temporary expediency, not a stable social living
arrangement. Cohabitation is unsettled, and does not require any legal joint
residency. It is not a lifetime commitment. In fact, many couples chose to cohabitate
because it required no formal restraints or responsibilities.

Songs and song lyrics can take many different forms. Like poetry, they tend to use
many different literary elements to convey a story. While most songs don t
necessarily have a rhyme scheme like some poems, they do however use elements
such as imagery, diction, and many more elements that can be found in poetry. The
four songs Rule Britannia , Land of Hope and Glory , Waltzing Matilda, and We are
the Boys from old Florida demonstrate the use of poetic elements to tell a story. Out
of all of these songs, none are more poetic than Rule Britannia . This song uses great
imagery, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in a stunning picture of the

This can be seen in its emotion. Just like poetry, this song has an ability to create
great emotion in those who hear it and are familiar with its meaning. To someone
who is apart of the Gator Nation, it can stir up a lot of different emotions. For a
University of Florida alumni it could bring back memories of their college days. It
could also tie some thoughts into the Florida Ubiquity if the alumni has relocated.
For a current student, it can bring the emotion of pride in being apart of one of the
best universities in the nation. Also, it can remind that student of the tradition of
locking arms and singing We are the Boys from Old Florida at the end of the third
quarter of every home football game. For all future students it could give them a
feeling of excitement. Being able to be a part of a great educational system that
one can be proud of is very exciting and fulfilling. Just like poetry, this song uses a
lot of imagery. It depicts the family of the Gator Nation in great light. It says, We
are the boys from old Florida. This showcases the Gator Nation as a group that is
proud. Next, it says, Where the girls the fairest... the boys the squarest of any old
state down our way. This tells the audience that the girls are the prettiest and the boys

through tangible forms such as artefacts, buildings or landscapes but also through
intangible forms. We get more than antiques from our ancestors we get our food,

Like caterpillars, as kids we absorb everything our parents tell us. The values,
beliefs, and morals our parents teach us molds and sculpts our culture. in the
article The Impact of Culture on Early Childhood Development in the United
States by Damon Verial it states, The United States is a blending of many cultures
that feature many stable and different subcultures. Where a child grows up and
who her parents are will influence the cultural wisdom, or emphasis of certain
values and skills, that are passed to her. A lot of what my parents have taught me
culturally is through food. My father spent two years of his life in Switzer land
and the South of France. My father has introduced a lot of French culture into our
home. On Christmas Eve, we eat shrimp scampy rather than chicken or turkey,
which is most common in the United States. On Sunday morning when we were
little, our dad would make us omelets. For dinner, we have learned to like crepes,
raklet, and fondue. My mom grew up in Idaho. Every meal has some form of
potato and a side of salad; almost without fail. My parents raised us in the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. In our church, we have a set of guidelines
called the Word of Wisdom, which teaches us our bodies are sacred and we should
watch what we put in them. For example, we do not drink alcohol or addictive
beverages. My parents and their cultures have had momentous effects on my own
culture. This however is not restricted just by foods. In positions on contradicting
beliefs, I often find my views to mirror the ones of my parents. As I grow older I do
not personally know to what extent my parents influence my culture and if my views
will change or shift toward or away from what they are

potential customers via its programs and activities. Extend Fertility generate profit
from egg freezing product, license, and consumers service fee and payment from

total cost of the procedure. The rest of money would split between medical clinics
and pharmaceutical. Christy expected 80% gross margin on the services provided by
the company.
The business plan with such high gross margin seems quite favorable. However, the
company s concept has some potential problems. The company did not mention how
to minimize the risk of hurting women s health when they proceeded to collect their

using freezing eggs. Would the technique influence the health of babies?

which means, as humans sometimes we forget how to deal with situations as so.

Abstract
This concept paper will discuss the different aspects of fluid and electrolytes as they
relate to the body. First, the anatomy of the compartments where fluids and
electrolytes are within the body will be discussed along with percentages contained in
each compartment and how they are transported into and out of these compartments.
Then, the pressures within these compartments and compositions of different types of
fluids that may be within them will be discussed. Finally, the effects that different
fluids may have on the body when they are administered and the classifications by

Tonicity is used to determine which of the three types each fluid would fall under
and is essentially the change that occurs to the cell size because of the amount of
water pushed into or pulled out of the cell by each type of fluid. Isotonic fluids, such
as 0.9% saline, whole blood, packed RBC s, and lactated ringers, neither swell or
shrink a cell because their osmolality or pressure equals ICF. Hypotonic solutions,
such as 0.25% saline, D5/0.25% saline, and 0.45% saline, cause the cells to swell
because the osmolality is lower in the hypotonic solution than ICF meaning there is a
less dense concentration of particle within the solution so the water molecules move
to the particles within the cell. Hypertonic solutions, such as D5/0.9% saline, D5
/0.45% saline, D5/lactated ringers and 3% saline, cause the cell to shrink because
they have a higher osmolality than ICF which means they pull the water out of the
cell due to the dense particle concentration of the solution. D5W solutions are unique
in that they are isotonic when they are outside the body but become hypotonic when
they are introduced into the body. Within these compositions there are two more
solutions types known as crystalloid and colloid. Crystalloid solutions typically have
a balanced electrolyte composition and expand total extracellular fluid volume
(Shields, 2015), some examples are 0.9% saline and lactated ringers. Colloid
solutions exert osmotic pressure which pulls water into the ECF to help expand
volume, some examples of this are albumin and
32. Masculinity And Masculinity, By Michael Kimmel Essay
In western culture, men are often subject to extreme methods of proving their
masculinity, and to reinforce what it truly means to be a man. Michael Kimmel,
famous sociologist said, Masculinity is the relentless repudiation of the feminine
(Kimmel, 2015), which not only reflects how men think about themselves but how
North Americans as an entire culture think about masculinityand manhood. The
following pages will be centered on issues of the lens of masculinity in contexts such
as the sphere of education, the predominance and dependence of social relationships,
and most importantly fatherhood, which will be of a larger focus as the maleenters
adulthood.
As a child, women and men are predominantly on the same page. With the exception
of their shared interests and activities. As a child grows up, the classroom setting
starts to highlight the differences between both boys and girls. Most often,
education is catered towards girls and the learning styles that girls flourish in
(Vincent Ball, 2007). Girls outperform boys in almost every subject when they are
elementary school age (Vincent Ball, 2007) because in the classroom, it is taught
that the qualities with being a good student are most often synonymous with being a
good girl, and here is where you can see a dichotomy begin to occur (Vincent Ball,
2007). Boys are conditioned from the beginning to understand that being a man, and
being masculine is the polar opposite of what it means to be feminine. Early

Canada s immigration system lacks heart, critics say, is an article filled with
professional opinions and debates. These debates and opinions are regarding the
humanitarian and compassionate side of immigration and refugee law in Canada.
The article s main purpose is to expose how Canada has changed its compassion for
acceptance of refugees in recent years. Canadahas always been recognized as an
accepting and go to country in crisis. However, in recent years, there have been
changes. Refugeelegislation has become extremely strict, qualifications for refugees
have become unfair, and limitations regarding what Canada offers refugees have
been set. There is always going to be opposing opinions regarding the compassion
Canada has towards refugees. However, in the article, Peter Harder, a man who has
dealt with the legality of immigrationfrom 1987 to date, believes Canada lacks
compassion for refugees. Peter believes Canada does not contain heart when it comes
to refugees because of the increase in deportation, the extreme conditions attached to
refugee status, and the unfair qualification testing.

38. A Sociological Perspective On Male And Masculinities...
Introduction
In this paper I will summarise Sports, Males and Masculinities written by Richard
Pringle and Queer(y)ing Masculinities in Schools: Faggots, Fairies and the first XV
written by Shane Town. It is important to note that these readings are complex and
have many ideologies but I have summarised only the key ideas and claims the
author s draw on. The summary of the first reading focuses on these key points, first,
to analyse on how the relationship is developed between sport, masculinities and
gender relations. Second, is the importance of rugby in schools and the effects of
masculinities and third, the author draws on Foucault s theories to understand power
relations. In the second reading I have selected the three key heteronormative
practices and these are silence, pathologisation of homosexuality and deterrence.
Then I will offer a critical reflection focusing on the ideas encountered on both
readings. I will turn the sociological imagination on myself in order to reflect in a
sociological view on hegemonic masculinity attitudes that leads to insights of the
male world, and how homophobic bullying is influenced by socialisation processes.
Sports, Males and masculinities by Richard Pringle
In the first reading: Sports, Males and masculinities, Pringle (2007) analyses how the
relationship is developed between sport, masculinities and gender relations. First,

39. National Honor Society Letter
To the National Honor Society: I am writing in response to the letter that I have
received to apply for the National Honor Society, and I am interested in becoming
a member. NHS was first brought to my attention my freshman year, through peers
and some teachers who would talk about all of the good outcomes and
opportunities that can come about from being a member. From that point on, that
has been my goal. I have worked as hard as I could to get up to where I am today. I
believe that I am a strong candidate for acquiring a spot in NHS. I possess all of the
criteria needed to make a good NHS member. I demonstrate scholarship through my
work ethic and in making school a first priority. I try to make sure that any work that

40. Analysis Of Internal Conflict, The Dark Battlefield
Internal Conflict, The Dark Battlefield
He hesitation or decision making issue within the characters mind is regarded as a
suspense. In Just Lather, That s All , the barber struggled with whether or not to kill
the enemy who now infront of him. In the end, the barber did not want blood on his
hand. Meanwhile, in The sniper, two snipers who were from different sides fought
against each other in a war. While examining the corpse, the sniper discovered that the
enemy was his brother. Also The Black Cat narrates the process of the protagonist
from normal to committing a crime step by step. Internal conflict moves the story s
plot, thought the short stories Just Lather, That s All , The Sniper and The Black Cat
respectively.
The border in Just Lather, That s all struggled with person against self which moves
the plot. As the barber thought over: No one deserves to have someone else make
the sacrifice of becoming a murder. What do you gain by it? Nothing. Others came
along and still others, and the first ones kill the second ones and they the next ones
and it goes on like this until everything is a sea of blond (Tellez 3). When faced
cruel enemy, he should kill him. However, in the barber s view, murder is not the
way to stop violence and war. It only lets the violence continue, with killing the
second, third and so on. This point is the transition of the plot from thinking about
murdering to hesitation. The second thought of the border is that: I do not want
41. Partition Of The British India
Partition of British India, 1947: The Partition of British India gave birth to two new
states; India and Pakistan. Pakistan comprised two geographically and culturally
separated region: a) West Pakistan and b) East Pakistan (Bangladesh) on basis of
their common religion Islam.
Language Movement: Just after independence, Pakistan ruler with a key resolution at
national education summit in Karachi in 1947 began to exclude Bengalis, inhabitant
of East Pakistan, adopting Urdu as the only state language of then Pakistan which
later elicited language movement in East Pakistan. The declaration of Mohammad
Ali Jinnah in Dhaka as Urdu and only Urdu will remain as the state language of
Pakistan and the reluctance of the successive rulers to recognize the mother
language of 56% people of the total Pakistan s population drew language movement
to the street that took its final shape on 21st February 1952. On this day, Salam,
Rafique, Barkat, Jabbar, Shafiul were the heroes who laid down their lives to
establish Bangla as one of the state languages of Pakistan and seeds of Bangladeshi
nationalism was sown.
Election of 1954: Bangladeshi nationalism was first projected in 1954 election
when United Front coalition of East Bengal s (later named as East Pakistan in
1955) political parties Awami League and the Krishak Sramik Party, won the most
of the seats in the East Bengal Legislative Assembly. Muslim League got only 9
seats out of 310. So, coalition govt. with Bengali leaders was

44. Introduction And Theoretical Explanation Of The
Management...
Introduction And Theoretical Explanation Of The Management Principle Organising
It is my aim within this essay to introduce, define, and theoretically explain the
management principle that is organising. Paramount to explaining organising it is
important to understand the characteristics that are often used to describe management
such as: goal orientation, decision maker, activity integration, and connective
processes. Each characteristic represents an important managerial concept; take for
example goal orientation, which is the primary task of utilising resources, knowledge,
and time to achieve expected results. Synonymous to achieving results management
requires a decision maker, in addition to activity integration. A decision maker will
oversee various departments, like marketing, production, finance, and human
resources (HR), whilst activity integration will connect these departments to work
cohesively together. This integration completes connective processes resembling five
steps: planning, organising, staffing, directing and controlling (Chaganti and
Sambharya, 1987). From an abstract perspective the management process will always
start with planning and end with controlling, however to cohesively develop
management, organising becomes a fundamental tool (Hawes and Thanopoulos,
1989).
The term organising has many variants in meaning, although it is widely seen as; a
relationship structure, a group of people, and the development of management
functions. High

the company can be classified with regards to Bartlett and Ghosal s 4 typologies.

The oil crises of the same period did not help improve the situation by shifting
consumer preferences towards the more reliable and economical Japanese
alternatives. GM responded not via their traditional method of acquisition, but
rather by creating alliances with Isuzu, Suzuki and Toyota (Bordenave and Lung,
2002). 1.4 Globalization From the late 1980s to the present day, GM has adopted
another strategy: globalization, aimed at integrating operations at an higher level.
GM s ultimate goal from the 1990s was to produce a World Car, as announced
through their Master Plan in 1996 (Bordenave and Lung, 2002). The idea was to
cut costs and achieve greater economies of scale by halving the number of car
platforms from 14 to 7, and sharing these platforms as well as parts among the
various brands within the General Motors family. In reality, however, this
programme failed.due to regional differences, such as Europe and Asia preferring
smaller, diesel powered cars as opposed to the large, petrol engined models of North
America. GM was thus forced to continue supplying different models to their various
markets around the world. | | |1992 : Senior management changes (J. Smith). | |1992:

46. Riordan Manufacturing Revenue Cycle Essay example
Riordan Manufacturing Revenue Cycle
Accounting information systems provide the tools to operate and maintain important
data related to an organization and interpret the information to develop quality
financial reports. The revenue cycle of Riordan Manufacturing reflects sales and the
components associated with sales such as inventory, freight, cost of goods sold and
accounts receivable, yet this information is not readily available to each facility.
Because the forecast for the company is positive and production and wages are
expected to increase having source documents available within each branch of the
company would improve the efficiency of the organization. Developing a plan to

The company also tracks non traditional information such as quality assurance costs,
research, and development. At this time, Riordan Manufacturing has three operating
entities in Georgia, Michigan and California. Riordan also has a joint venture in
China. Each operating entity keeps independent financials including a general ledger,
accounts payable and receivable, order entry, procurement, sales and purchasing
history, invoicing and shipping, payroll, and financial reporting. The advantage of
having each unit run as its own business is that each unit knows its customers and its
relationship with its customers. They are able to establish personal contact with both
customers and vendors, report on payments and receivables from these customers,
and follow the accounting through to the general ledger. Payroll is handled locally
which increases the understanding of shifts, over time, and labor hour accounting.
Advantages of local order entry is the fact that the individual unit knows the product
or products that it produces and is able to help the customer with the knowledge of
the manufacturing process and how it affects the accounting process. Keeping the
invoicing and shipping localized is advantageous in that it keeps it cohesive and easy
to find errors. The financials will come together from individual manufacturing
divisions to form a reliable source of accurate financial reporting; therefore, the

Access and Equity
Golf in Australia has been a prevalent sporting achievement for many years. The
first documented mention of golf was in Scotland 1457 but only started in Australia
in the early 1800 s. Ever since this milestone many Australians such as Adam Scott,
Jason Day and Karrie Webb have been able to win many golfing completions
worldwide. Recently a physical education class has chosen golf over dance and
orienteering due to each and everyone s attitude, behaviour, towards golf. Access
and opportunity is not the same for everyone, if a boy from Uluru wanted to go
sailing he wouldn t have the access to opportunity of facilities to compete. stated by

48. Religion vs. Philosophy
Religion Term Paper
Philosophy and Religion
An Idea is more powerful than an army (pg 14, Munroe).
When first looking at the relationship between philosophy and religion, I found it
easier to explain the differences rather than the similarities. I began this paper the
same way I do others. This generally involves a profound amount of research on the
topic at hand. However, in contrast to the other papers I have done, the definitions of
philosophy and religion only raised more questions for me. It was fascinating how the
explanations differed dramatically from author to author.
I will begin this paper by reciting some of the definitions that I did find.
The simplest definition states, In many cultures and times, religion has ... Show more

To challenge someone s philosophy is considered a reasonable and almost scientific
thing to do, but to challenge someone s religion can instigate hostile and sometimes
violent reactions.
A very good example of how violent and atrocious religious hatred can be is that of
the Holocaust. The Holocaust, which appropriately means sacrifice by fire, was
the horrific annihilation of six million Jews by the Nazi regime during World War
II. Around 1933 an estimated nine million Jewish people were killed for no other
reason but because of their religious belief. Children were no exception either.
Even though it is not entirely clear how many children were murdered or died in
concentration camps, historians guess that it could be as high as 1.5 million. Adolf
Hitler was the Chancellor of Germany and leader of the Nazi Regime and what
began as a very strong philosophical belief of his turned into the slaughter of millions
of Jews.
The Holocaust, while one of mankind s worst acts, was unfortunately not the first
nor the last horrific act to be done that was based on religious focuses and ideas.
Appalling acts such as massacres, mass executions or suicides can all be linked
back to specific religious backgrounds. Underneath the noticeable effect of human
lives lost is the undeniable loss of peace that human s originally craved when
seeking out their religion in the first place. It appears to me that in many cases a
strong opinion or idea can be developed

In my story ВЁThe PedestrianВЁ the story takes place in 2052 and is based
around technology. The main character s name is Leonard and he is a very lonely
character who likes to experience the real world. Leonard likes to walk at night
while everyone else is inside watching tv. When he walks at night all of the streets
are vacant as he describes as he has been walking for many years and thousands of
miles and he had never seen anyone else in all of time he had been walking. The
theme of the story ВЁThe PedestrianВЁ is technology taking over society.
Leonard exemplifies that technology can lead to negative consequences. Ray

50. Essay Applying Plato s Allegory of the Cave
Applying Plato s Allegory of the Cave to Oedipus Rex, Hamlet, and Thomas Becket
Plato was one of the greatest philosophers of all time. He is recognized all over the
world as one of the greatest minds of all time. Knowledge is required under
compulsion has not hold on the mind.(Durant 24). Plato s dialogues are the fruit of a
rare mind; but the could not have kept their perennial freshness if they had not
somehow succeeded in expressing he problems and the convictions that are common
to Plato s age and to all later ages. Genius alone is not enough; or perhaps it were
wiser to say that we recognize genius only in the power of divination that overleaps
the boundaries of a special time and place.(Jowett xi). Although Plato did not ... Show

These people of the cave must gradually be exposed the real world, if they are to
accept the real world as reality. This parable, told by Socrates and recorded by Plato,
presents the concept that true enlightenment is slow and agonizing. To discoverthe
truth one must break the chains of the cave and face their destiny.(Gibson).
Oedipus Rex was the King of Thebes. A plague was ravaging Thebes, and the
people wanted Oedipus, the king, to do something. Oedipus tells the people of his
kingdom that he sent Creon, the brother of Queen Jocasta, to the Oracles at Delphi
to find out what was causing this terrible plague on his people. When Creon
returns from the Oracle at Delphi, he announces to the people that this terrible
plague will only end when the murderer of the late King Lauis, Jocasta s first
husband, is brought to justice. Oedipus then promises the towns people that he
will punish the murderer. Oedipus then asks a blind soothsayer to identify who the
killer of the late King Lauis was. The blind soothsayer tells Oedipus the killer of
the king is a king. When Jocasta arrives to see Oedipus, she points out that the
Oracles have been known to lie. She tells him that the Oracles did predicted that
the late King Lauis was killed by his own son, when in fact he was killed by thieves
at a crossroad. Oedipus was disturbed to hear this because he remembers killing an
old man at a crossroad. Jocasta then
51. Political Climates In George Orwell s Animal Farm
Gas lighting. Re writing history. Manipulation of society and facts. One might think
these were being used to describe current political climates. However, these describe
the methods and rhetoric used by Squealer, the talking pig, in George Orwell s
Animal Farm, in his quest for the pig s complete control over the farm. Squealer, like
a true politician, lies and takes advantage of the less intelligent and informed animals
on the farm to ensure he and the pigs have all the power. Throughout Animal Farm by
George Orwell, Squealer is often found rewriting the history of the Animal Farm for
ways that are more often that not corrupt. He often does so for Napoleon s gain,
control over the farm, and for the pig s personal freedoms. For example, in chapter
eight of Animal Farm, Orwell writes, They thought the Fifth Commandment was No
Animal shall drink alcohol, but there were two words that they had forgotten.
Actually the commandment read: No animal shall drink alcohol to excess (Orwell,
109). In pages previous, it was assumed that the pigs were drinking copious amounts
of alcohol. Which, was something that was not allowed in the Seven Commandments.
But, the pigs did so anyway, and the outcome was not good Napoleon was thought to
be dying. The commandment was then changed. Squealer is changing these
commandments so the pigs are able to do things that contradict the original
commandments without question or outrage. They are taking advantage of the
animal s memories

Davis Hinshaw Mrs Weide American History II 4 December 2016 The 1980s With
the cold war showing no signs of ending, the watergate scandal and the vietnam
war it was no surprise that the 1980s were a complete explosion of counterculture
and mistrust in the government. The election of former actor Ronald Reagan
kickstarted the 1980s with his optimistic ideas he appealed to many americans. He
was running against former president Jimmy Carter, Reagan won the election with
51% of electoral vote. He promised to work to get the US government out of
people s everyday lives and provide major tax cuts. These ideas won the support of
many throughout the US. The 1980s was the birthplace of a new era, an era of
moviegoers and people who loved to watch tv. At the end of the 1980s 60% of the
population had cable TV. Movies such as E.T., Back To The Future and The
Breakfast Club all debuted in the 1980s. One major contribution to TV being so
popular was MTV because it went against the norm and showed all kinds of music.
MTV had a large span of artist that consist of Guns N Roses, Metallica, Public
Enemy, and many more. MTV was a way for people to get their unsaid feeling out
without having to face backlash. The 1980s experienced many things that have lasted
through decades and are even still around today, such as personal computers, MTV,
and cell phones. The 1980s was a major contributor in shaping the way the US and
even the world is today. Some of the most impactful things from the
