Essay On King Lear
Crafting an essay on the topic of "King Lear" can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires a
comprehensive understanding of Shakespearean literature, profound analysis of complex
characters, and a keen insight into the intricate themes explored in the play. "King Lear" is
renowned for its depth and nuance, making the task of capturing its essence in a coherent essay
demanding.
One of the primary challenges lies in deciphering the complex character motivations and
relationships within the play. King Lear's tragic journey, the dynamics between fathers and
daughters, the themes of betrayal and madness—all demand meticulous exploration to do
justice to the depth of Shakespeare's work. Additionally, delving into the historical and cultural
context of the play adds another layer of complexity, requiring extensive research to provide a
well-rounded analysis.
Moreover, articulating one's thoughts and interpretations with clarity and coherence is crucial.
Balancing the exploration of themes, character development, and the overarching narrative while

reflect a scholarly tone, requiring a mastery of literary analysis techniques to convey the richness
of the material.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "King Lear" demands not only a profound understanding of
the play itself but also a mastery of literary analysis and critical thinking. It is a task that requires
dedication, careful research, and the ability to synthesize complex ideas. However, for those

Relationships In The Play Wicked
Well if that s love, it comes at much to high a cost. Wicked is about the life of
Elphaba before and after she became the Wicked Witch of the West. It follows
Elphaba as she goes to Shiz University and she meets and becomes friends with
Galinda, soon to be Glinda. It also shows you her journey to Oz and her interactions
with the Wizard. She leaves Oz and Glinda and struggles to maintain her values and
her beliefs. In the play Wickedby Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz, Holzman
and Schwartz illustrate the theme of love by looking at relationships, family, and
mentors. There were many examples of relationships in the play Wicked. One of the
examples is the relationship between Glinda and Fiyero. Though they think they

The first time you see Elphaba with her father, it sets a tone for all the other
examples in the play. The very first moment Elphaba s father sees her, he rejects
her. Take it away. Take it away! From that moment on, their relationship suffers,
even to the point that Elphaba can tell her father blames her and is disappointed in
her. My father hates me...he has a good reason. It s my fault...The reason my sister
is the way she is. You see, when our mother was carrying Nessa, my father began to
worry that the new baby might come out...green... He was so worried he made our
mother chew milk flowers day and night. Only it made Nessa come too soon, with
her little legs all tangled. And our mother never woke up. None of which would
have ever happened if not for me. Out of all her family members though, Elphaba
was closest with Nessa, and even she took Elphaba for granted. After he learned
what you d done! How you disgraced us...Oh, Elphaba, shut up! First of all, I can t
harbor a fugitive, I m an unelected official! And why should I help you? You fly
around Oz, trying to rescue Animals you ve never even met and not once have you
ever thought to use your powers to rescue
How Did The Beatles Influenced American Culture
When the British showed up on the scene all chaos broke loose and Beatle fever
made its way into every young girl s heart of the generation. Britain had a very
significant effect on the American music industry and the general population who
listened and enjoyed their music. The main spearhead for this Invasion was The
Beatles. One product of that invasion was Tom Petty who remembers it being
absolutely earthshaking, he also said Culturally, it changed everything in America,
and probably the world. The influence on every part of our lives was huge, from
social issues to fashion issues to music issues. From that point on, the Beatles were
the North Star for me and my generation (McGarvey, 2014). The early 60s belonged
to The Beatles, there is no denying that, everything from social subjects you would
talk about with your friends, all the way to fashion and merchandise. Their arrival
opened the doors for more British bands to make it big in America, and steal the
attention of every boy and girl who listened to the radio. A few examples of bands
the British were responsible for includes The Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, The Who,
the Animals and Manfred Mann. But how did this British Invasion happen in the first
place?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Beatles themselves have mentioned in interviews that Buddy Holly was an
inspiration to them which encouraged them to form a skiffle band (Robbins, 2014)
made up of a drummer less group of musicians. These British musicians came up
with the perfect recipe for a successful transition to the American music scene. They
borrowed the basic ingredients of rhythm and blues and country music (Robbins,
2014) from America and combined it with their own musical traditions of dancehall,
pop, and Celtic folk (Robbins, 2014). This created their own twist on rock n roll and
caused a frenzy when it crossed the Atlantic to
Students Need Great Gadgets For A Few Reason
Students need great gadgets for a few reason: they can help with school work, they
re convenient and they re cool. Here s a look at a few types of gadgets that all
students should look into, and the best options for each category of gadgets. Cell
Phones Every student needs a cell phone for staying in contact with family
members. Smart phones have a ton of extra features that can really come into play
during a school year, like calculators and Ebook Readers Textbooks costs are one of
the biggest costs that students have to deal with, and an eBook reader can help
ease the burden while providing an intuitive, fun way to read. The best eBook
readers for students are black and white readers like the Barnes and Noble Nook
and the Amazon Kindle, because black and white readers have long battery lives
and can be read in direct sunlight. Color readers are more in line with tablets, which
we ll get to in a minute, but they re inferior for reading. A black and white reader
like the Barnes and Noble Nook runs about $149. Tablets Tablets aren t the most
essential tool for school, but they re awesome for unwinding after a day s studies
and can handle some of the duties of the other gadgets on this list. The most popular
tablets are the iPad, of course, and Androidofferings like the Motorola Xoom. These
usually cost about $500, but there are cheaper options available like the Asus Eee
Transformer, which is only $400. They can play videos, display eBooks and
Restroom Segregation In Schools Essay
The use of public restroom in the United States have been the focal point of the civil
rights battleground for generations. After the end of American Civil War four million
African Americans were granted their freedom across the United States. Afterword,
Jim Crow laws were established throughout the southern United Statescreating
racially segregated laws. These Jim Crow lawsdivided the use of restroom facilities
based on race. Today, restrooms have once again become segregated based on an
individual s gender. Those in society who stand up against restroom segregation face
public humiliation and invoke elements of fear in the general public. As Public

This law approved by the State of North Carolina clearly violates federal
regulations which require for all individuals to have equal access to restrooms
without sex segregation. Individuals who identify as the opposite sex have the
privilege to utilize restrooms of the opposite sex under Title VII of the federal
government. A few days after the General Assembly approved this law members of
the transgender community filed a federal lawsuit against the state. Days later the
United States Department of Justice issued an ultimatum for the state to overturn the
law or face federal action.
The purpose of this paper to outline a public policy for use within the regional
library system for the equal use and protection of the public restrooms within all
facilities. All employees and guests are required to follow these practices and assure
the safety of the general public. Under federal guidelines all employers are required

The Chuckwallas and Evolutionary Research
Ever since Charles Darwin s first publication of On the Origin of Species in 1859,
island habitats have been used by a number of scientists as the most efficient
laboratories to observe the natural process of evolution taking place in modern day
organisms. Several kilometers northeast of the Galapagos Islands, where Darwin
famously performed his research, is a small group of islands in the Sea of
CortГ©s, also known as the Gulf of California, between the Baja California
peninsula and Mexico (see Figure 1 on page 18). Here many evolutionary biologists
of the 20th and 21st century performed research on the insular organisms inhabiting
these island habitats. One group of lizards in particular known by the common name
chuckwallas has gained a lot of focus in evolutionary research.
Chuckwallas is the name of organisms in the Sauromalus genus apart of the Iguanidae
family. They are herbivorous lizards commonly found in the deserts of
southwestern United States and Northern Mexico. Three species, in particular, are
found on the islands off the cost of the mainland within the Sea of CortГ©s:
Sauromalus obesus (= ater), Sauromalus varius, and Sauromalus hispidus (see
Figure 2 on page 20). S. obesus is a common species found on the mainland as well as
few islands, while S. varius are S. hispidus are endemic to specific islands in the Sea
of CortГ©s: mainly San Esteban Island and Angel de la Guarda Island, respectively.
Both of these insular species also show signs of gigantism

Executive Summary This study compares the I/O functionalities such as data
structures, algorithms and cryptograpy between Linux, Windows, and FreeBSD.
Most importantly, the data structures used in block and character devices for
Windows and FreeBSD are also compared against those of Linux operating system.
With respect to I/O operations, this study specifically examines the different types of
devices, I/O scheduling, and so forth, and compares their implementation in Windows
and FreeBSD versus Linux.
Introduction
Generally, computer components are two fold, namely hardware and software
components. The hardware requires an operating system (OS) to manage and
coordinate its software resources as well as provide services for computer
application programs [4]. Application programs that run in a computer require an
OS. In essense, the OS acts as a central host that handles hardware operation details
[4]. All computers are run by an OS of some type. Some of the most popular OS
versions in the market are Linux, Windows and FreeBSD [1]. Linux is an open
source development and free software whose source code can be freely used,
redistributed and modified by third party OS developers. The range of Windows
Operating Systems are created by Microsoft Corporation. Unlike Linux, Windows
consists of proprietary closed sources [5]. FreeBSD is an advanced version of OS and

treatments involved? If you want to get rid of your dry scalp but do not know how,
you are on the right site as we will offer you safe alternatives on how to get rid of dry
scalp.
What is dry scalp?
Our scalp has sebaceous glands that produce oil to help maintain the natural
moisturization of the scalp. However, due to some external causes, this oil
production may become affected which will lead to the dryness of the scalp.
Causes of dry scalp often include excessive anxiety, poor hair care, fungus, scalp
infections that may be brought about by health conditions such as dandruff or eczema,
as well as frequent shampooing of the hair. Also, dry scalp may tend to... Show more

Queer Theory And Radical Theory
Throughout the beginning of the course students have obtained a wide variety of new
vocabulary, including many concepts and theories. Within this paper I will be
discussing the following: gender, transgender, transsexual, sexism, four axioms of
masculinity, and gender based harassment. I have focused on the following six terms
because they all focus on sexuality and genderand how they differ throughout the
expression and biology of oneself. All of these terms relate to the freedom of
choice and allowing people to be their authentic self while also including some
limitations that people have put on them for not conforming to heterosexual norms.
I also have focused on the following two feminist theories: Queer Theory and
Radical Theory. Both these theories helped to pull all six of my concepts together
to be analyzed while also dividing them by allowing people to be themselves both
biologically and by expression but also tying in the negativity that these people face
every day for choosing to live their lives how they want.
Gender
Working Definition: Gender is a way of describing individuals as either male or
female while disregarding their actual biological sex. Gender is a performance of
oneself and how one decides to act. This is done on an individual level following the
preferences of oneself.
Significance: This concept is important to completely comprehend because it helps to
separate the meanings of gender and sex, which are often confused for one another. It
is known

Alexander Graham Bell had some good mentors when it came to his inventing. Bell
also spent much of his time inventing. Along with many other innovators of the
1870s, including Thomas Edison, he worked om the multiplex telegraph a machine
that would send and receive more than one signal over an electrical wire at the same

greatest inventors in history, shows that people had faith in him and believed that he
could accomplish great things. He had some excellent role models to look up to. He
had some amazing influences that helped lead him to the invention of the telephone.
Alexander Graham Bell has many different achievements, such as the Volta prize,
President of the National Geographic Society, and a regent of the Smithsonian

hydrofoil speedboat and aerial transportation.
In 1880 the French government awarded Bell the Volta prize of 50,000 francs for
inventing the telephone. (Monkeyshines on America). His wining this award was
helpful with his career. He used his prize money to help further his career and his
inventions. He was appreciated for his accomplishments by a country that he was not

something to other people. He was
Argumentative Essay On Knights
Knights are often said to fight dragons or save princesses or break curses, but there
is so much more to being a knight. Knights deserve to be higher in the social class
because of all the work they do. They have difficult and extended training. They
have a complex and astonishing lifestyle. They have essential and crucial duties to
do. They impact the world and influence the world today. Medieval life was complex
and different for Knights. Religious Knights had a challenging and difficult lifestyle.
The Knights Hospitaller is a difficult job, but an important one. The Knights of the
Round Table were a group of Knights, who traits the world needs today. Knights
should be above Nobles.
These Knights were found in Europe during the Middle Ages. The Middle Ages lasted

indeed were cruel or wicked, but they believed that their gentle blood made them far
superior to other people. ( Lynn Waterman, 2001, The Nobles of the Middle Ages)
Knights have also created the stirrup. The stirrup allowed Knights to use retreats as a

Social Media Satire
A rhetoric for contemplation; what is social media s magnitude that encompasses an
individual s everyday life? As the unabridged ecosphere verves on with their day to
day living: from wakening out of bedstead to arrive promptly at work, to getting up
late and hastening to class, surely in that time frame we are predisposed or rather
attaining some form of social media alongside with them. In apropos towards the
aforementioned, it ventures to further differentiates itself in numerous approaches of
entertainment. Which then emanates to concentration, is the hysteria for social
media categorically advantageous? Such can be consequential from the previously
quantified emphasis of confab; in repudiate, disputably not, regarding speculation as:
miscommunication/clarification, Fabricated Representativeness, and the evolution of

even postings on a public dais; depending on the occurrence, it can be hard to

Mistaken Identity In Alfred Hitchcock s North By Northwest
Stirring and innovative, Alfred Hitchcock s 1959 thriller North by Northwest is a
meticulous and mysterious tale of mistaken identity. Starring one of the most
prominent and suave leading actors in classic Hollywood, North by Northwest
depicts Cary Grant as Roger Thornhill a New York hot shot mistaken for the
enigmatic George Kaplan . Furthermore, the film follows his quest to clear his name
and intercept the devious plan of a secret consortium that aims to discredit the US

Examples Of Peer Relationships In Mean Girls
In the film Mean Girls there were many types of peer relationships expressed.
Friendships are described as a reciprocal liking, trust, and loyalty between all
participating dyadic parties. An example in the film is the relationship that
Damian and Janis hold because they are loyal to each other and the liking is
mutual. Peer acceptance is to the degree one is liked by their peers. In the film
Aaron Samuels is very much liked by his peers. Perceived popular is a child that is
considered popular based on their peers perceptions. Regina George is a prime
example of teenage girl perceived as popular. When students described Regina
George in the film these type of comments were made, Regina George is flawless ,
One time she punched me in the faced. It was awesome. , and she always looks
fierce. Cliques are polyadic social groups that are voluntary. A main clique in the
movie is The Plastics which consists of Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, and
Karen Smith. These forms of peer relationships are a lot more complex than just a
group of friends, these relationships of dynamic in early adolescence.
Friendship
Regina George s friend group is comprised of Karen and Gretchen. Their friendship
is difficult at times. They share secrets among each other, for example the burn
book is a secret between the girls. When Cady is included into the friend group she
is then entrusted with the group s secrets. This group of Plastics are friends by

The Madres De Plaza De Mayo s Social Movement
Despite isolation from family members and constant fear of their own lives, The
Madres de Plaza de Mayo s social movement has improved the Argentinian culture
over the years. We ll take a look back at what prompted the creation of the Madres
social movement, what the goals of the Madres social movement were about, and
how the Madres movement has changed Argentinain present day society. The real
question to ask yourself is what would you be willing to do for the wellbeing and
safety of your family and loved ones?
First, let s take a look back at what prompted the creation of the Madres de Plaza de

the Dirty Warera. During these years Argentina was being governed by President
Isabel PerГіn along with a deadly military junta dictatorship. The Dirty War era can
be summed up as basically the government s attack on Argentinian individuals
suspected of any political opposition. Opposition was choked off by rigorous
censorship, strict curfews, and fear of the secret police. (Encyclopedia Britanica) The
secret police, or ( government ), would often kidnap, torture and kill these individuals
before disposing of their bodies in nearby oceans, in rural areas, or in mass unmarked
graves. It is estimated between ten thousand and thirty thousand Argentinian
individuals lost their lives during the Dirty War era. Although to this day, the
government has only acknowledged some involvement with approximately nine

with a headline titled: RAAF Captures Flying Saucer on Ranch in Roswell Region.
The article contained text as follows:
The many rumors regarding the flying disc became a reality yesterday when the
intelligence office of the 509th Bomb group of the Eighth Air Force, Roswell
Army Air Field, was fortunate enough to gain possession of a disc through the
cooperation of one of the local ranchers and the sheriff s office of Chaves County.
The flying object landed on a ranch near Roswell sometime last week. Not having
phone facilities, the rancher stored the disc until such time as he was able to
contact the sheriff s office, who in turn notified Maj. Jesse A. Marcel of the 509th
Bomb Group Intelligence Office. Action was immediately taken and the disc was
picked up at the rancher s home. It was inspected at the Roswell Army Air Field
and subsequently loaned by Major Marcel to higher headquarter. (First print of the

Area 51 in order to be further studied and inspected.

Hearing Loss Intervention
In today s time, there is a need for new prevention, assessment, and intervention
strategies for adults experiencing hearing loss accompanied by, or at risk for,
dementia (Pichora Fuller, 2015). Research has found that individuals with hearing
loss are at risk for developing dementia, and dementia is also more prevalent in
individuals with dementia. Patients with dementia are recognized at different stages,
and the Pichora Fuller questions the possibility of earlier and better health care

high cognitive abilities are involved in social activities, some type of physical
activities, may be a musician, or possess good cognitive skills, such as being

The most common form of hearing rehabilitation is hearing aids. The issue arises
when the oldest old adults do not have access to hearing aids, which could be due to

Future research is needed in the areas of prevention, assessment, and intervention. A
greatly structured research project is needed for determining how to prevent or slow
dementia. For assessment, establishing multi disciplinary teams willing to share their
knowledge of cognition and hearing is critical. More research is needed for
intervention to determine the burden that is placed on a caregiver, as well as how
intervention could assist caregivers faced with taking care of an oldest old patient
with a hearing loss and dementia.

7 Years War Salutary Neglect Essay
The British defeat of the French following the French and Indian War (also known
as the 7 Years War ) led to the end of salutary neglect in America. Salutary neglect
was a period of time in which the British interfered very little in colonial affairs, and
this lasted from the end of the 1600s up until the British victory over the French in
the 7 Years War. The end of salutary neglect marked the beginning of Britain s
increasing control over the American colonies and attempt in raising taxes to help
pay for the war. The most well known legislatures they passed included the
Proclamation Line of 1763, which restricted the colonists from expanding westward,
and numerous acts taxing the colonies on commodities such as the Sugar Act, which

Many things stayed the same, which is why the American Revolution was as big of a
turning point in American history, as most people make it to be. The most important
aspects of American life that remained stagnant after the Revolution were the class
structures and social classes present in the United States. If anything, the social
classes in America became even more polarized as those who were part of the
wealthy elite group rose to power while the poor shrank back in oppression. The
new nation found itself possessed of enormous wealth so that it could create the
richest ruling class in history. When Loyalist land was confiscated after the war, it
was distributed among the Revolutionary leaders, so they could enrich themselves
and their friends . The wealthy were very well off prior to but also following the
Revolution, as seen in the previous quote but what about the Revolutionary war
veterans, who sacrificed many things to fight for America? Their lives were left off
much worse than before, and were paid only $6.66 a month, despite all the sacrifices
they made for the country. Also, the rebellion left poor white workers and farmers in
very much their old situation . Their
Thomas Malthus
Thomas Malthus addressed many issues such as population growth, methodology of
GDP accounting, value theory, diminishing returns, land rent, and aggregated
demand. Malthus recognized a need to decrease controversies dealing with increasing
poverty and corn laws .
Thomas wrote An Essay on the Principle of Population which introduced the idea that
population when unchecked increased geometrically whereas proper existence
arithmetically at best. Malthus had a system to regulate population which used
preventative and positive checks. These checks reduced birth rate and increased
death rate to keep the population in check. Examples of preventative checks were
moral restraint and positive included famine, misery, plague, and war. Furthermore,
Malthus instilled the idea that poverty and misery were natural punishments to the
lower classes and encouraged restrain from reproduction. As well as no to aid the
poor, for it would allow more children to survive ultimately worsening the hunger
problem. These ideas were later contributed to the harsh Poor Law Amendment of

This theory addressed the idea of potential insufficiency of effective demand. Thomas
assumed workers would receive an adequate wage and produce more work than
received as wages. The profits of their work must be bought by others in order to
continue production and employment. Some of the profit would be bought by
general consumers but would not equate to all of it. To prevent a glut of produce and
economic stagnation, he encouraged unproductive consumption by landlords, which
they obtain from rent, that doesn t increase cost of production. This further
contributed to the implications that Corn Laws must be retained. Though he favored
landlords having unproductive consumption, anyone living on the interest from
nation debt should not, such as government
Smoking Satire
Health over Habit: The Smoking Epidemic Public smoking has been an issue for
people who do not take part in the smoking epidemic for as long as smoking has

government should intervene and ban public smoking, with no exceptions. Now

The Issue Of Judicial Review
Judicial review provides the courts with the authority to review and change laws that
the government proposes that violates the Constitution. In this paper, I will discuss
the issue of judicial review. More precisely, I will be focusing my argument on
Jeremy Waldron s objection to radical disagreement, which states that we cannot
agree upon what our rights are, therefore we do not know which ones should be put
in the charter. I will argue that Jeremy Waldron s argumentis a good objection to
judicial review, because if we cannot agree upon what moral rights are, how are we
going to be able to apply them to the charter. I will begin by outlining the key points
in Waldron s argument. I will then continue to outline why Waldron s objections are
strong. Finally, I will argue that radical disagreement is a strong objection to judicial
review.

Benefits of Viral Marketing to Companies in the 21st
Century
To what extent is Viral Marketing beneficial to companies in the twenty first century?
Viral marketing is one of the most significant tools contributing many benefits to
businesses in the twenty first century. Due to the development of internet commerce,
computer networks allow people to have an opportunity to select interesting
information for them. As a result, the decrease in consuming information through TV,
newspaper and radio while the consumption of online information has a dramatic
increase. The reason why the internet has become popular is internet not only
provides specific information to user but also have many programs which helps user
to communicate in online social networks such as Facebook, Tweeter or YouTube.

et al.,2003) This framework of viral marketing is outline the influence of human
behavior in marketing which is evolving in the twenty first century.
The changes of human behavior in receiving information in the twenty first century
causes businesses to use viral marketing. At present, consumers are more convenient
to access to the information because of the development of technology. To require
the information is only search in the internet by using computers, laptops or even
mobile phones as most mobile phones can access to online networks. Since the
abundance of access to the information and numerous social networks that influence
consumers make a decision to buy a new products or services by asking individuals
network in the online communities or entering keyword into the Google search bar
instead of watching advertisement. In an article by Leboff (2012a), customer will
make a decision based on consumer word of mouth by referral or online search. This
means, if there are abundance of positive word of mouth in the internet and
prospective customers can reach that information, there is a potential to convince
prospective customers to buy products or services. Therefore, businesses should
provide customers with appropriate space to comment, post some article, podcasts
and video in website or other social networks which
Francis And Al-Kamil
Francis and al Kamil shared stories of faith with one another. They met regularly and
discussed matters of faith. Although the two did not share the exact same beliefs,
they grew a profound respect for one another. When Francis left to return home, al
Kamil presented him with a trumpet made of ivory.
By 1220, the order numbered five thousand friars and needed to be governed more
cogently. Francis could no longer handle the duties of overseeing so many people, so
Pope Honorius III required him to bring more organization to the order. At this
time, Francis appointed Peter of Catanii as minister general to oversee the order.
Within a year, Francis wrote a more formal letter to govern the order. Over the next
few years, he would debate and revise the rule. In 1223, Pope Honorius III approved
the Third Order.
The Beginning of the End
Over the next few years, his health would continue to deteriorate. He contracted a
form of leprosy and was mostly blind. He returned to San Domiano and was placed
under the care of Clare and the sisters. He asked to be taken back to Portiuncula. It
is there that he dies and is buried in 1226.
A year after his death, Francis friend, Cardinal Ugolino, became the pope. In enrolling

Francis usually winced at the lepers, but a recent moment of interaction with God
allowed him to view them in a new light. He dismounted himself from the horse,
gave the leprous man a coin, and kissed him on the hand. The leprous man
accepted his kiss of peace. Francis remounted and continued along the way. After a
few days, he moved to a hospice of lepers. He brought with him a large sum of
money. One day, he called all of the lepers together, kissed the hand of each, and
gave them offerings. Francis ministry to the lepers still instructs us on how to treat
people with dignity and look past social norms to truly see people for who they are,
Hartford, City That Has Developed Into A Concentric
Zone...
Hartford, CT is a well known city that has developed into a concentric zone fashion.
A concentric zone consists of five zones; Central Business District, Transitional Zone,
Working Class Zone, Residential Zone, and the Commuter Zone. Each zone consists
of different qualities that can all be found in Hartford. Hartford is very similar to
Chicago based on the description of Chicago given by Dr. Burgess. Just like Chicago,
Hartford is also a city that has a high crimerate.
The first zone is the Central Business District. This zone is a majority of non
residential buildings and has an emphasis on business and commerce. Downtown
Hartford would be considered a central business district. This zone also has a
population of workers that commute from different towns to get to work and even
from another state. In downtown Hartford, there are many popular businesses, clubs
and restaurants that attract people and customers. Examples of these business
include The Hartford Courant, AETNA and even Capital Community College.
Popular restaurants and attractions include Black eyed Sally s, Black Bear Saloon
and Club NV which is a popular nightclub. The State Capitol is also located in
Downtown Hartford. Some of the people who work in downtown Hartford live in
other towns like Windsor or Bloomfield while others may travel from Springfield,
Massachusetts.
The second zone is the Transitional Zone. The transitional zone is considered the
least desirable place to live due to high crime rates,

Rhetorical Analysis Of Richard Nixon s Red Herring For
The...
Red Herring for the Win: Checkers Speech The underpinnings in Richard Nixon s
argument lack an appropriate logical foundation for defending his stance, as
throughout the speech he deviates the attention of the audience from the main idea
which was whether he did or did not appropriate himself from the funds intended
toward his political campaign for personal use. However, he manages to persuade the
audience through an unconventional approach to this rather common political tactic.
Indeed, his speech was effective to save his candidacy; the notion that Nixon was
giving full account of his arguably honest intentions by openly speaking about the
issue and providing evidence made it seem like he was confronting accusations, while
in reality... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover this, he deviates the public s attention with a convoluted wordplay in
order to blur the main issue by putting aside the legal aspects against him and
focusing on morale, which is more bendable and corruptible in comparison, because
unlike the law, morality can easily be reshaped to our convenience. Despite this,
Nixon s argument is fairly persuasive due to the contrasting nature of his rhetoric
with habitual instances where political figures would rather not mention, let alone
discuss their misdoing. Furthermore, the speech is very swaying of the audience s
opinion. As he first directly states that it was wrong to take the money, the audience
s willingness to listen increases because he seems to be having a moment of honesty
and humility. However, a couple lines through he quickly flips the audience s
perception of wrong to a conditioned morally wrong by expressing what he believes
would make his actions inherently wrong, including whether the money had been
intended toward his personal use. He then asserts that the money never went to [him]
for personal use now neglecting what he had acknowledged explicitly in the
beginning. It resulted to be convincing, as he had previously yielded an occasion of
apparent honesty and self
The Giver, By Lois Lowry
Would you like to live in a society where anger, greed, hate and pain are eliminated?
A society where differences are nonexistent and the feelings of envy and jealousy are
extinct? It sounds wonderful, but what does this society cost its citizens? Lois Lowry
wrote The Giver, and when it adapted into the film, it is directed by Phillip Noyce.
The film takes place in a society that has eliminated the differences within people.
They have little emotion, cannot see colors, and have no memory of all the past
events like war, pain, animals, and emotions. They are all assigned jobs at a young
age and Jonas is assigned as the receiver of memory. He keeps all the memories of
the past to provide wisdom for the future. Once the current receiver of memory (the
giver) gives him all of these memories and emotions he realizes that keeping all of
these things from the community is wrong. He sees his father releasing (killing)
babies and his father did not realize he was killing them. Jonas family was caring for
a child that was not mature enough to be in the nurturing center and is eventually
scheduled to be released. Jonas took the baby out of the community, crossed the
boundary and restores all the emotions and memories to the entire population. Is a
perfect, predictable, systematic society worth sacrificing personal choice and
emotional individuality? No, emotions and personal choices give our lives purpose,
drives us to become more; these things make us human. The intended

Once he had assumed the responsibilities of office, McKinley immediately turned his
attention to measures for assuring economic recovery and called a special session of
Congress in order to raise customs duties, an effort he believed would reduce other
taxes and encourage the growth of domestic industry and employment for American
workers. From his position he managed to maneuver the passage was the Dingley
Tariff Act which he concentrated his energies on.
It is the highest protective tariff in American history. McKinley s support for the
Dingley Tariff strengthened his position with organized labor, lower rates, was the
greatest source of income, and opened up the idea of reciprocity. Deferring action on
the money question, he called Congress into special session to enact the highest tariff
in history. The tariff was, in his view, a key measure for achieving national order and
tranquility to eliminate the corruption, such as, trusts and monopolies, going on in
that time period. This has helped him undergone considerable revision for his
reputation as a president due to the improvement he has caused.
The Sherman Silver Purchase Act, passed the same year as McKinley s tariff
legislation, had been inadequate to meet the demand for better prices or for an
increase in the stock of money. Once again the segments of society that stood to gain

The Similarities Of The Flood Characters Of Gilgamesh
And...
Though Gilgamesh and Genesis are completely different stories, they both contain
flood narratives that have similarities and differences within each. The three
comparable points in these texts deal with the gods and heroes of the stories. First
the gods in these narratives all have a specific reason behind their decision to wipe
out mankind. Second the unique characteristics of the heroes or survivors of the
flood are shown throughout the events of the texts. Finally the gods who bring these
floods upon earthall reveal their qualities through their actions against humanity.
These three topics relate from one book to another in many ways. Before each of the
floods there are reasons that each goddecides to eliminate the people on earth. In
Gilgamesh the god Enlil chooses to destroy humanity with a flood because it is the
best way to get rid of the individuals who have sinned. After the flood the god Ea
says Let him who has performed an evil act be punished for that act. Let not the
flood be brought down on the heads of all for what one man has done... (Ferry 74).
This statement shows how Enlil punished all of mankind when most of them weren t
to blame. On the contrary, in GenesisGods motive for destroying humanity with a
flood is that the world was turning evil and cruel, which was not what God intended.
God s thoughts are shown through the following quote The Lord saw that the
wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts

The Pros And Cons Of The Holy Supper
INTRODUCTION
Not one religion in the world has views and doctrines that completely agrees with any
other religion, and this explains why there are thousands of different religions
practicing thousands of different religious practices.
The Holy Supper, also called the Last Supper, the Lord s Supper, and many other
names, is practiced all over the world by different Christian groups. It is the last
supper shared by Jesus Christ and His disciples, on the night before His execution
on the cross. And as expected, the differences in the interpretation of the Bible have
led to practices relating to the Holy Supper being performed in a variety of ways, and
an equally wide variety of views relating to it.
Mat. 26:26 28 (NIV) reads:

According to some Eucharistic theologians, the history of the Catholic practice of the
Holy Supper can be summarized into six points. (Ossory)
A.From Passover to Eucharist
The first Eucharist was observed by Jesus and His apostles. Jesus started with a
praise in the form of a psalm, took the bread, gave thanks, and followed with his new
words. He gave the bread for his disciples to eat. At the end of the meal, He took the
cup, filled it with wine and followed again with his new words. He gave the cup for
his disciples to drink from. He instructed his disciples to do this in remembrance of
Him. (Mat. 26 26:28).
B.From Meal to Worship
By the year 150 A.D., a Catholic saint named Justin Martyr tells of the structure of the
Catholic mass:
In place of the meal the early Christians created a Liturgy of the Word somewhat that
included readings from Scripture, singing of psalms and an instruction. Around the
words of institution they added prayers of thanksgiving, praise and intercession...
These Eucharist celebrations were held in people s homes up until the year 313. On
Sunday there were two readings by a lector, a homily by the priest, then the

Symbolism In W. S. Merwin s The Nest
The nest, a short story by W. S. Merwin is a fascinating story about a pair of pigeons
raising young ones in an open umbrella. The story follows the offspring as they learn
to fly, but then illustrates them falling to their deaths in an attempt to fly upside
down in the rain to match the umbrellas that surround them. The nest explains the
parent s ignorance towards the complexities of living beyond the safety net of your
childhood environment throughout the use of a variety of literary techniques.
Throughout the uses of connotation, imagery, and symbolism, this meaning is
successfully portrayed. As we follow these young birds while they journey towards
disaster, we can learn to understand the feelings and emotions connected to the words

The symbolism used throughout the nest is one that makes this story even more
pertinent to our own lives. We begin the story with a pair of pigeons that
discovered an umbrella hanging by a beam which they ended up using for their
nest. These pigeons are very crucial to the story as they themselves are perfect
representations of people. Two parents looking for a way, and an environment, in
which they will raise their young. This prospect of raising your children in a
different, or less common way is not always a bad idea. It is the fact that the
parents did not consider the effects or complications that raising their young in an
umbrella could have on them that was a mistake. If the pigeons had been brought
up knowing that when it rained, new umbrellas would appear and they did not
need to fly upside down but simply view the umbrellas in a new way and adapt,
then they would have survived. This can easily correlate to how some parents are
ignorant towards teaching their children viable life skills. They spend their lives
protecting and shielding their young ones from the other ways of the world, which
can be beneficial for their short childhoods alone. Once exposed to new challenges or
ways of living the children often want the old safety of their homes, when the parents
could have simply explained to them that there is still safety available just in different
forms. The

My First Person Ever Riding A Hover Board
Alexander Roman
Professor Lunderberg
Senior Seminar Essay

My Simple Dreams
My name is Alexander Roman. My future is now composed of dreams that I have
created throughout the years since I was young. At eight years old, I already had
planned out my future: at twenty two, I would have already been working as a
paleontologist, excavating skeletons of dinosaurs, in Africa, and then I would
have become the first person ever riding a hover board down the hill in front of my
house in Puerto Rico. I would also have become the best person I could be to make
my parents and friends proud of me. Growing up has taught me that the only
paleontologist that I looked up to was Dr. Alan Grant from Jurassic Park and that
owing a hover board would mean that I would have to be filthy rich. However,
growing up has also taught me that I could still become the outstanding person that I
aspire to be. My future dreams have drastically changed as I have grown older.
Now, I have become aware that sometimes it does not matter what you plan for
because life will always have a different plan for you. Because, like a drop of salt
water in the ocean, I walk next to life itself patiently waiting for what happens next.
Even though my perspective of my future dreams has changed, I do have dreams
that I strive for, each and every day. I strive for relationships that are full or love,
compassion, and honesty. I strive for being proud of who I am. I strive to celebrate
humanity s uniqueness, to fight
Essay on The Definition of Dramaturgy
Dramaturgy is often referred to as being a very slippery and indefinable word;
though there are standard definitions available for us to find, we cannot seem to
comprehend these definitions without exceptions arising. For example, the online
Oxford English Dictionary defines dramaturgy as either being a dramatic
composition; the dramatic art or as dramatic or theatrical acting. However, words
such as composition can be highly vague, leaving itself open to broad interpretations
and debates via the scholars of dramaand theatrestudies. Similarly, we are left to
question what exactly the role of a dramaturg is, and whether they perform this role
alone or share it; as no one has actually established a clear definition of what... Show

However, the Age of Enlightenment was an elite movement which opposed
traditional religious norms and values. It aimed at getting people to think for
themselves, and for people to use their own creativity and ingenuity instead of merely
relying on the words of those with authority and status. In the words of Enlightenment
philosopher Emmanuel Kant (1784), Enlightenment is man s emergence from his self
incurred immaturity. Immaturity is the inability to use one s own understanding
without the guidance of another . As a result, dramaturgy acted under the banner of
the Enlightenment, freeing theatre from the limitations placed upon it by societies
which were entrenched in tradition.
At the forefront of the dramaturgy movement was the 18th century dramaturg,
Gotthold Ephraim Lessing. Though the procedure of creating and analysing dramatic
compositions had been present in the world of theatre for many years prior to
Lessing s writings, it was indeed his own work, Hamburgische Dramaturgie, which
finally coined the term dramaturgy ; giving it worldwide recognition and opening it
up to scholarly discussion. Lessing wanted to use dramaturgy to reshape German
theatre. For example, Lessing concentrated on the establishment of a BГјrgerliches
Theatre , which would introduce a brand new genre of bourgeois tragedy to German
theatre (Barnett, 1987, p. 408). However, he also

Delia suffered from mental and physical abuse from her husband. Sykes had

The whip is a symbol of evil and the masculine oppression the Delia has to deal with
throughout the story. She saw that Sykes had kicked all of the clothes together
again, and now stood in her way truculently, his whole manner hoping, praying for
an argument. (Hurston 278). The white clothes that Delia is washing represent her
pureness and Sykes kicking them and dirtying them up signifies his abusiveness
towards Delia. Sykes lives his life to torment Delia, further showing his evilness.
However, Delia s strong religious believes keep her in the abusive adultery

Not only was Sykes abusive to Delia he was also unfaithful, having a mistress named

Like mentioned previously, DC initiates activation of different types of cells based

and cytokine production from CD4+ Th cells was done. These cells were collected
from draining from lymph nodes and spleens of mice, in which fungus pulsed DCs

DCs pulsed with inactive yeast cells were not able to induce maturation of DC in
vitro and hence these cells were unable to develop Th1 response in vivo. Because
of this, memory cells responsible for anticandidal protective immunity cannot be
developed. Not only yeast or hyphae of fungus, but fungal RNA too was able to
develop such protective immune response in vivo. In this case, fungal RNA from
yeast or conidia could do so, but not from hyphae. DCs pulsed with fungal RNA
from yeast (Candida) or conidia (Aspergillus) could develop resistance for
infections for respective species only. One more species of fungus showed similar
results for developing resistance against infection. DCs pulsed with Cryptococcus
neoformans RNA could develop resistance for pulmonary cryptococcosis in murine
model. Th1 cells producing IFN бµћ were increased and cells producing IL 4 were
decreased in numbers in mice showing resistance to the disease [Fig (4)]. This
indicates that the antifungal resistance is Th1 dependent. This suggests DCs can be a
potential target for developing vaccines against fungal infections. Conclusion and
future prospective: As it is well known that DCs play important role in developing
immune response, they can used as a potential target for vaccine development. More

The Island Of Dr Moreau Analysis
In Wells s The Island of Doctor Moreau, which will be referred to as TIODM, the
Beast Folk are forced to live under a regime created by Dr. Moreau to control their
habits. These habits include walking on four legs, eating meat, and attacking men.
Perhaps the most chilling scene of the entire novel is set in the cave of the abused
former beasts turned into humanesque simpletons. The main character, Prendick,
follows one of them, the Ape Man, back to their hovel, initiating himself into their
world. Not to chase other Men; that is the Law. Are we not Men? Not to eat Flesh or
Fish; that is the Law. Are we not Men chant the mutilations of nature, illustrating the
vicious control that Moreau keeps upon his creations (75). Moreau focuses his

The Role Of Domestic Violence In Alice Walker s The
Color...
The Color Purple, written by Alice Walker, is an ode to the life of African
American women from the mid 1900s to the early 1940 s. There are several major
themes Walker efficiently weaves in her writing such as religion, as the epistolary
style shows the main character s Celie journey with her beliefs; and love, since the
tie between Celie and her sister is able to connect them over different continents, as
well as how love is not only about romance, but also about respect and care. The issue
of domestic violence is arguably the most important theme throughout the course of
the novel, mainly due to the trauma that affects Celie, as well as the parallel concerns
of male dominance and sexism that are uncovered. Eventually, the violence Walker...

However her point, especially concerning domestic abuse, is about how harmful
the practice is, as well as how it can be prevented. An important quality to notice
throughout the male and female relationships in the novel is the authority that
men have. Celie s experience, characterized by psychological distress and sexual
oppression from her step father and husband, is reported to God through the letters
that make up her story. Walker was able to continuously revisit the issue of
domestic violence by simply showing the abuse as a regular part of life. When
Harpo decides to make Sofia always listen to him, Celie suggests beating her.
Before we are introduced to Sofia, Harpo asks his father why he beats Celie. His
answer is clear, ...Cause she my wife. Plus, she stubborn (pg 23). When Harpo is
questioned about whether or not he hits his wife, Mr. ____ is confused as to why
he wouldn t: Well how you spect to make her mind? Wives is like children. You
have to let em know who got the upper hand. Nothing can do that better than a good
sound beating. He puff on his pipe (pg 36). Although Sofia fights back, Harpo
continues to attack her, exposing how the past violence in families causes young
boys to believe violence is the way to solve their issues, rather than through
conversation. The cycle of violence
The Medieval Feudalism System
Feudalism is a relationship between a lord and his vassals to provide service and
resources for each other. The feudal system emerge as dominant political and social
system in medieval Europe, because it provided the vassals with security by their
lords.
In one instance, The fiscal burdens of feudalism took any form deemed suitable by
the lords: payments in cash, in kind, in labor services, or in military services
(Goldsmith). After the Vikings raided many homes and cities, many people didn t
have much money to protect themselves. To ensure protection, they find lords who
are able to protect them. In return, the vassals do military service, pay taxes, and do
labor for their lords. However, while the lower class are working hard to benefit the
king, they don t gain anything from the king or their lords. For example, if the king

But, if the king s vassals doesn t have enough knights, the king s vassals asked their
own vassals and it keeps on going until the lower class, or serfs, has to fight for the

warfare and lack of a strong central government forced the nobility to build strong
defense networks around their strongholds and castles ( Vassal ). If the lordis not
strong enough to protect them, then the vassals will go to find new lords that will
have military power that will protect them. This is when loyalty to the lord and
generosity comes into play. Also, chivalry is significant in the feudal society. If the
king or the lord are not courageous, loyalty and generous, then it will become a
problem. If the lord isn t generous to their vassals, then their vassals are not going
to pay taxes, not going to defend borders or do military services. The king and lord

Tuberculosis As A Infectious Disease
Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly infectious disease that can harm any organ of the body,
especially the lungs. Every year about over a million people die due to tuberculosis
and even more are infected. A person in contact with an infected individual can easily
put themselves at risks of getting TB. Due to the emergence of human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV), tuberculosisinfections commenced to increment more
rapidly. A person with HIV has an impotent immune system which is not able to fight
infections such as tuberculosis. There are many ways to diagnose, prevent and treat
the further spread of this disease.

Sputum tests may be required for testing if the chest x ray reveals signs of TB.
Tuberculosis can spread by contagious airborne droplets that are passed on easily
through close contact with a person who has active or untreated TB. As a person
coughs, sneezes, or interacts, it can relinquish infectious droplets into the air. Once a
person inhales the infectious droplet (bacillus), it settles in the upper airways.
Bacteria in droplets that bypass the mucociliary system and reach the alveoli are
expeditiously circumvented and engulfed by alveolar macrophages, the most
abundant immune effector cells present in alveolar spaces (Knechel, 2009). These
macrophages are a component of the immune system that fights to destroy the
mycobacteria to obviate infection. The outcome is essentially determined by the
quality of the host bulwarks and the balance that occurs between host bulwarks and
the invading mycobacteria (Knechel, 2009). If the alveolar macrophage fails to
overcome the inhaled mycobacteria, the bacteria will replicate until the macrophage
lysis. As the monocytes are magnetized to the infection site, it then separates into
macrophages and consumes the free bacilli. The mycobacteria then multiply within
the macrophages causing it to become infected. The infected macrophages may then
be transported to the lymph nodes where it can easily reach the blood stream. After
two to three weeks of infection, the helper T cells are
Benefits Of Playing With Toys
Did you play with toys? Do you remember which was your favorite toy or game?
Surely most of you do. You have special memories for some of them, don t you?

last year or do not want to play with it anymore.
Two are the reasons they are not interested and do not play with the same toy for a
long time parents buy more often new playthings, so they become easily bored. If
we could see the world through the kids eyes, what could we see? Everywhere toys
blink, wink and expect to grab them.
There are numerous benefits of playing with toys they really can bring joy, learning,

Ask yourself: Should we follow this tendency to buy the most modern devices or
unnecessary things? Do your children need the new toy, or it will be added
somewhere in the toy bucket?
It is scientifically proven, people need one two new things per week to satisfy their
needs. And the easiest way to get rid of this unhelpful for both sides habit is to
establish rules of buying, which could improve youngsters discipline and behavior.
You can specify a day of the week the toy day, when you can buy only one special
and good toy, so your kid to expect and deserve it. To make it like a gamewith a
surprise. In this way, we help our children to choose useful games, this will lead
them to find new ways to play with the old ones.
It is clear, toys play an irreplaceable role for the better health and development of
every child.
Let toys prepare our children for life but not to quit out their early ages. As though
there is a contest between our parental responsibilities and those of the toys. Staying
behind the toy scene, maybe we should understand children are not those who need
this plenty of toys, but their busy
Persuasive Essay On Childhood Obesity
Only 2% of children in the U.S. eat a healthy diet ( Facts about Childhood Obesity
1). Junk food is a leading factor in the growing obesity epidemic in America. To
help stop the epidemic a high tax must be placed on junk food. The fat tax would be
added to items considered to be unhealthy. There are a plethora of potentially taxable
items such as sugar, caffeine, artificial sweeteners, even salt. The fat tax will help
deter consumers from purchasing these items in an effort to improve the overall
health and nutritionof American s. There are a plethora of ideas to help and prevent
obesity as well as other health issues. A high tax on junk food might help people to
consume less; and, the tax will help to reduce health care costs and help consumers
to be healthier. Sugar in foods we consume contributes to health conditions such as
obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. A tax on fatty foods would make people pay
the social costs of the food they eat. Taxing junk food items is monetarily
beneficial. The taxes put on junk food could go towards something to help out
Americans. Taxing junk food could take away taxes on less harmful items or help
low income families to eat healthier. Eating healthy is more difficult for families on
a low income because junk food is the most affordable option. The tax from junk
food could aid in the lower price for the healthier food items. The tax could go
towards health education, community gardens, or local farmers markets. Health

The Research Process
Processes of research by Jonathan Guy
In this essay I will outline the primary methods of conducting research, their
advantages and disadvantages and will outline where they are best utilised. In
addition to this, I will select certain methods of research that I believe will be
applicable to my own dissertation and state why I will use those particular methods to
conduct my own research.
The first question we should ask is what is research? John C. Merriam considers
research as a reaching out to bring together, organise and interpret what ever may be
added to our store of knowledgeВ…most truly exemplified when it involves the
wider relationship of specific facts to the whole structure of knowledge . (C.
Merriam, 1941, pg890) In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This approach to research has obvious advantages, namely its objectivity. It cannot
be considered bias or subverted due to the theorisers own predispositions or
opinions and it should therefore be true of itself; it is not subject to change as it
merely categorises a factual state and it provides definitive answers from its research
as opposed to just more questions or debatable theories. It does however have a
number of disadvantages. It is arguable that the scientific method has no place in
political theory as much of it is based in abstract theorising which cannot be
objectively proved one way or the other and as such would be dismissed as
irrelevant by the scientific methods (which is clearly wrong). Further, unlike in the
natural sciences, the scientific method tends to be only descriptive of political
science and does not in fact advance it in any way, rather it merely attempts to
describe the state it is presently in (for example, it would not predict who will win
the next election, but it would say who won the last one). Therefore, the scientific
method is best used if we wish the results of our research to return as objective facts,
empirically provable and repeatable. Whilst this does not necessarily have a major
place in political sociology, it is useful in interpreting quantifiable results that are not
statistical in nature.

Relationship Between Jimmy And Tina Electronics Ltd
Introduction In order to determine, whether the terms are validly incorporated into
the contract and which dispute resolution method is appropriate for Jimmy s case,
it is essential to identify a form of offer and acceptance, the ways the contractual
terms have been agreed on, the validity of the incorporation as well as elements of
fraud or breach of contract. To elucidate this statement, the structure of this essay
will be: The following section will be giving a definition of the offer and
acceptance rule and discuss whether there is a legal binding contract. The next
segment will be regarding the types of expressed implied terms, its features that
were developed by statutes and common law. The essay will then explore whether
the contract between Jimmy and Tina Electronics Ltd obtains valid incorporated
terms, which will be then supported by several resources. Afterwards, the essay will
be illustrating different methods of dispute resolutions and the result that each
method would bring about if Jimmy would consider one of these methods. This
continues then with the conclusion evoking the main arguments. 1.) Jimmy s

Essay On Alhambra
Introduction
Alhambra (Cast Alhambra), the palace and fortress of the Moorish monarchs of
Granada is located on Sabika hill that overlooks the city of Granada in Spain. In
Arabic Al Hamra means the red one so the name Alhambra is probably derived
from the colour of the sun dried tapia, or bricks made of fine gravel and clay, of
which the outer walls of the palace are built. Alhambra s Islamic palaces, as we know
them today, were built for the last Muslim emirs in Spain and the court of the
Nasrid dynasty. Moorish poets described it as a pearl set in emeralds, an allusion to
the colour of its buildings and the woods around them. Figure 1 the Alhambra Palace

Arabesque
As mentioned earlier the interlacing decoration and stylised vegetal forms of
decorations, these two combined can be called Arabesque, which by definition
means surface decorations based on rhythmic linear patterns of scrolling and
interlacing foliage, tendrils or plain lines, often combined with other elements. The
plant ornamentation in the Alhambra is encouraged by the constant references to
heaven as the garden of happiness. Examples of plants forming large adorning
elements on walls can be seen all around the walls of the Sala de la Barca (Boat
Room) in the form of engraved tree trunks with numerous leaves and fruits. Figure 7

Britain had a very significant effect on the American music industry and the general population who listened and enjoyed their music. The main spearhead for this Invasion was The Beatles. One product of that invasion was Tom Petty who remembers it being absolutely earthshaking, he also said Culturally, it changed everything in America, and probably the world. The influence on every part of our lives was huge, from social issues to fashion issues to music issues. From that point on, the Beatles were the North Star for me and my generation (McGarvey, 2014). • 6. The Chuckwallas and Evolutionary Research Ever since Charles Darwin s first publication of On the Origin of Species in 1859, island habitats have been used by a number of scientists as the most efficient laboratories to observe the natural process of evolution taking place in modern day organisms. Several kilometers northeast of the Galapagos Islands, where Darwin famously performed his research, is a small group of islands in the Sea of CortГ©s, also known as the Gulf of California, between the Baja California peninsula and Mexico (see Figure 1 on page 18). Here many evolutionary biologists of the 20th and 21st century performed research on the insular organisms inhabiting these island habitats. One group of lizards in particular known by the common name chuckwallas has gained a lot of focus in evolutionary research. Chuckwallas is the name of organisms in the Sauromalus genus apart of the Iguanidae family. They are herbivorous lizards commonly found in the deserts of southwestern United States and Northern Mexico. Three species, in particular, are found on the islands off the cost of the mainland within the Sea of CortГ©s: Sauromalus obesus (= ater), Sauromalus varius, and Sauromalus hispidus (see Figure 2 on page 20). S. obesus is a common species found on the mainland as well as few islands, while S. varius are S. hispidus are endemic to specific islands in the Sea of CortГ©s: mainly San Esteban Island and Angel de la Guarda Island, respectively. Both of these insular species also show signs of gigantism

A Short Note On Linux, Windows And Freebsd I/O Comparison between Linux, Windows and FreeBSD Name University Executive Summary This study compares the I/O functionalities such as data structures, algorithms and cryptograpy between Linux, Windows, and FreeBSD. Most importantly, the data structures used in block and character devices for Windows and FreeBSD are also compared against those of Linux operating system. With respect to I/O operations, this study specifically examines the different types of devices, I/O scheduling, and so forth, and compares their implementation in Windows and FreeBSD versus Linux. The hardware requires an operating system (OS) to manage and coordinate its software resources as well as provide services for computer application programs [4]. Application programs that run in a computer require an OS. In essense, the OS acts as a central host that handles hardware operation details [4]. All computers are run by an OS of some type. Some of the most popular OS versions in the market are Linux, Windows and FreeBSD [1]. Linux is an open source development and free software whose source code can be freely used, redistributed and modified by third party OS developers. The range of Windows Operating Systems are created by Microsoft Corporation. Unlike Linux, Windows consists of proprietary closed sources [5]. In this paper, I will discuss the issue of judicial review. More precisely, I will be focusing my argument on Jeremy Waldron s objection to radical disagreement, which states that we cannot agree upon what our rights are, therefore we do not know which ones should be put in the charter. I will argue that Jeremy Waldron s argumentis a good objection to judicial review, because if we cannot agree upon what moral rights are, how are we going to be able to apply them to the charter. I will begin by outlining the key points in Waldron s argument. I will then continue to outline why Waldron s objections are strong. Finally, I will argue that radical disagreement is a strong objection to judicial review. In his book Law and Disagreement, Jeremy Waldron concentrates on the issue of theme [of] reasonable disagreement, [and the inability that he] cannot restrain [himself] from saying that anyone who thinks a narrative like this [a charter of rights as rational pre commitment] is appropriately modeled by the story of Ulysses and the sirens is an idiot (Waldron 2004). By 1220, the order numbered five thousand friars and needed to be governed more cogently. Red Herring for the Win: Checkers Speech The underpinnings in Richard Nixon s argument lack an appropriate logical foundation for defending his stance, as throughout the speech he deviates the attention of the audience from the main idea which was whether he did or did not appropriate himself from the funds intended toward his political campaign for personal use. However, he manages to persuade the audience through an unconventional approach to this rather common political tactic. Despite this, Nixon s argument is fairly persuasive due to the contrasting nature of his rhetoric with habitual instances where political figures would rather not mention, let alone discuss their misdoing. They have little emotion, cannot see colors, and have no memory of all the past events like war, pain, animals, and emotions. They are all assigned jobs at a young age and Jonas is assigned as the receiver of memory. He keeps all the memories of the past to provide wisdom for the future. Once the current receiver of memory (the giver) gives him all of these memories and emotions he realizes that keeping all of these things from the community is wrong. He sees his father releasing (killing) babies and his father did not realize he was killing them. Jonas family was caring for a child that was not mature enough to be in the nurturing center and is eventually scheduled to be released. Jonas took the baby out of the community, crossed the boundary and restores all the emotions and memories to the entire population. Is a perfect, predictable, systematic society worth sacrificing personal choice and emotional individuality? No, emotions and personal choices give our lives purpose, drives us to become more; these things make us human. The intended

Though Gilgamesh and Genesis are completely different stories, they both contain flood narratives that have similarities and differences within each. The three comparable points in these texts deal with the gods and heroes of the stories. First the gods in these narratives all have a specific reason behind their decision to wipe out mankind. Second the unique characteristics of the heroes or survivors of the flood are shown throughout the events of the texts. Finally the gods who bring these floods upon earthall reveal their qualities through their actions against humanity. These three topics relate from one book to another in many ways. Before each of the floods there are reasons that each goddecides to eliminate the people on earth. In Gilgamesh the god Enlil chooses to destroy humanity with a flood because it is the best way to get rid of the individuals who have sinned. The symbolism used throughout the nest is one that makes this story even more pertinent to our own lives. We begin the story with a pair of pigeons that discovered an umbrella hanging by a beam which they ended up using for their nest. These pigeons are very crucial to the story as they themselves are perfect representations of people. Two parents looking for a way, and an environment, in which they will raise their young. This prospect of raising your children in a different, or less common way is not always a bad idea. It is the fact that the parents did not consider the effects or complications that raising their young in an umbrella could have on them that was a mistake. If the pigeons had been brought up knowing that when it rained, new umbrellas would appear and they did not need to fly upside down but simply view the umbrellas in a new way and adapt, then they would have survived. This can easily correlate to how some parents are ignorant towards teaching their children viable life skills. They spend their lives protecting and shielding their young ones from the other ways of the world, which can be beneficial for their short childhoods alone. Once exposed to new challenges or ways of living the children often want the old safety of their homes, when the parents could have simply explained to them that there is still safety available just in different forms. My future is now composed of dreams that I have created throughout the years since I was young. At eight years old, I already had planned out my future: at twenty two, I would have already been working as a paleontologist, excavating skeletons of dinosaurs, in Africa, and then I would have become the first person ever riding a hover board down the hill in front of my house in Puerto Rico. I would also have become the best person I could be to make my parents and friends proud of me. Growing up has taught me that the only paleontologist that I looked up to was Dr. Alan Grant from Jurassic Park and that owing a hover board would mean that I would have to be filthy rich. However, growing up has also taught me that I could still become the outstanding person that I aspire to be. My future dreams have drastically changed as I have grown older. Now, I have become aware that sometimes it does not matter what you plan for because life will always have a different plan for you. Because, like a drop of salt water in the ocean, I walk next to life itself patiently waiting for what happens next. Even though my perspective of my future dreams has changed, I do have dreams that I strive for, each and every day. I strive for relationships that are full or love, compassion, and honesty. However, words such as composition can be highly vague, leaving itself open to broad interpretations and debates via the scholars of dramaand theatrestudies. It aimed at getting people to think for themselves, and for people to use their own creativity and ingenuity instead of merely relying on the words of those with authority and status. In the words of Enlightenment philosopher Emmanuel Kant (1784), Enlightenment is man s emergence from his self incurred immaturity. Immaturity is the inability to use one s own understanding without the guidance of another . As a result, dramaturgy acted under the banner of the Enlightenment, freeing theatre from the limitations placed upon it by societies which were entrenched in tradition. At the forefront of the dramaturgy movement was the 18th century dramaturg, Gotthold Ephraim Lessing. Though the procedure of creating and analysing dramatic compositions had been present in the world of theatre for many years prior to Lessing s writings, it was indeed his own work, Hamburgische Dramaturgie, which finally coined the term dramaturgy ; giving it worldwide recognition and opening it up to scholarly discussion. Lessing wanted to use dramaturgy to reshape German theatre. For example, Lessing concentrated on the establishment of a BГјrgerliches Theatre , which would introduce a brand new genre of bourgeois tragedy to German theatre (Barnett, 1987, p. 408). If the produce is listed by volumn then it must also state the equivilent in net weight. The net quantity statement describes how much product is actually in the container. This is useful when comparing the cost of similar items. For example: a 30 pound bag of dry food may cost less than a 15 pound bag because the smaller bag may be more concentrated rather than puffed up with extra
  • 40. Interactions Between Fungi And DC Interactions between Fungi and DC: How DC can be used to develop vaccines? Like mentioned previously, DC initiates activation of different types of cells based on type of molecules/antigens at site of infection. Hence different forms of fungi initiate different mechanisms of immunity. When DC pulsed with fungus are introduced into mice, they can initiate specific immune response against that antigen by activating CD4+ Th cells. The analysis of antigen specific proliferation and cytokine production from CD4+ Th cells was done. These cells were collected from draining from lymph nodes and spleens of mice, in which fungus pulsed DCs were introduced. Results showed in mice immunized with conidia or yeast pulsed DCs, levels of IFN бµћ were higher... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DCs pulsed with inactive yeast cells were not able to induce maturation of DC in vitro and hence these cells were unable to develop Th1 response in vivo. Because of this, memory cells responsible for anticandidal protective immunity cannot be developed. Not only yeast or hyphae of fungus, but fungal RNA too was able to develop such protective immune response in vivo. In this case, fungal RNA from yeast or conidia could do so, but not from hyphae. DCs pulsed with fungal RNA from yeast (Candida) or conidia (Aspergillus) could develop resistance for infections for respective species only. One more species of fungus showed similar results for developing resistance against infection. DCs pulsed with Cryptococcus neoformans RNA could develop resistance for pulmonary cryptococcosis in murine model. Th1 cells producing IFN бµћ were increased and cells producing IL 4 were decreased in numbers in mice showing resistance to the disease [Fig (4)]. This indicates that the antifungal resistance is Th1 dependent. This suggests DCs can be a potential target for developing vaccines against fungal infections. Conclusion and future prospective: As it is well known that DCs play important role in developing immune response, they can used as a potential target for vaccine development. There are several major themes Walker efficiently weaves in her writing such as religion, as the epistolary style shows the main character s Celie journey with her beliefs; and love, since the tie between Celie and her sister is able to connect them over different continents, as well as how love is not only about romance, but also about respect and care. The issue of domestic violence is arguably the most important theme throughout the course of the novel, mainly due to the trauma that affects Celie, as well as the parallel concerns of male dominance and sexism that are uncovered. Eventually, the violence Walker... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However her point, especially concerning domestic abuse, is about how harmful the practice is, as well as how it can be prevented. An important quality to notice throughout the male and female relationships in the novel is the authority that men have. Celie s experience, characterized by psychological distress and sexual oppression from her step father and husband, is reported to God through the letters that make up her story. Walker was able to continuously revisit the issue of domestic violence by simply showing the abuse as a regular part of life. When Harpo decides to make Sofia always listen to him, Celie suggests beating her. Before we are introduced to Sofia, Harpo asks his father why he beats Celie. His answer is clear, ...Cause she my wife. Plus, she stubborn (pg 23). Sputum tests may be required for testing if the chest x ray reveals signs of TB. Tuberculosis can spread by contagious airborne droplets that are passed on easily through close contact with a person who has active or untreated TB. As a person coughs, sneezes, or interacts, it can relinquish infectious droplets into the air. Once a person inhales the infectious droplet (bacillus), it settles in the upper airways. Bacteria in droplets that bypass the mucociliary system and reach the alveoli are expeditiously circumvented and engulfed by alveolar macrophages, the most abundant immune effector cells present in alveolar spaces (Knechel, 2009). These macrophages are a component of the immune system that fights to destroy the mycobacteria to obviate infection. The outcome is essentially determined by the quality of the host bulwarks and the balance that occurs between host bulwarks and the invading mycobacteria (Knechel, 2009). If the alveolar macrophage fails to overcome the inhaled mycobacteria, the bacteria will replicate until the macrophage lysis. As the monocytes are magnetized to the infection site, it then separates into macrophages and consumes the free bacilli. The mycobacteria then multiply within the macrophages causing it to become infected. The infected macrophages may then be transported to the lymph nodes where it can easily reach the blood stream. After two to three weeks of infection, the helper T cells are

The Research Process Processes of research by Jonathan Guy In this essay I will outline the primary methods of conducting research, their advantages and disadvantages and will outline where they are best utilised. In addition to this, I will select certain methods of research that I believe will be applicable to my own dissertation and state why I will use those particular methods to conduct my own research. The first question we should ask is what is research? John C. Merriam considers research as a reaching out to bring together, organise and interpret what ever may be added to our store of knowledgeВ…most truly exemplified when it involves the wider relationship of specific facts to the whole structure of knowledge . (C. Merriam, 1941, pg890) In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This approach to research has obvious advantages, namely its objectivity. It cannot be considered bias or subverted due to the theorisers own predispositions or opinions and it should therefore be true of itself; it is not subject to change as it merely categorises a factual state and it provides definitive answers from its research as opposed to just more questions or debatable theories. It does however have a number of disadvantages. It is arguable that the scientific method has no place in political theory as much of it is based in abstract theorising which cannot be objectively proved one way or the other and as such would be dismissed as irrelevant by the scientific methods (which is clearly wrong). Further, unlike in the natural sciences, the scientific method tends to be only descriptive of political science and does not in fact advance it in any way, rather it merely attempts to describe the state it is presently in (for example, it would not predict who will win the next election, but it would say who won the last one). Therefore, the scientific method is best used if we wish the results of our research to return as objective facts, empirically provable and repeatable. Whilst this does not necessarily have a major place in political sociology, it is useful in interpreting quantifiable results that are not statistical in nature. In addition to
