So, a result of this is that general society in Tasmania is broadly more tolerant and sympathetic to the
plight of the Aboriginal culture because they are not exposed to the confrontational issues found in
many parts of Australia. There is therefore a sense of indifference around the Aboriginal culture which
has two angles. Firstly, an Aboriginal child is far less likely to be discriminated against (based on their
culture) because they are more easily accepted without prejudice or preconception as happens in other
