Less waiting time for treatments. International accreditation of hospitals. Better technology and wider
treatment options. Ease of travel and attractive tourist destinations. Availability of alternate medical
treatments like ayurveda and naturopathy. Use of English language for hospitals operations. Support
by government of India. Dr Naresh Trehan knew that quality of patient care and the reputation of the
organisation is heavily dependent on the frontline workforce. There is a great pool of talent willing to
work in start up environments in Gurgaon. Being in the vicinity of Delhi University and other medical
colleges helps start ups in hiring interns who want to gain practical exposure, and also add value to
these new institutions. The focus in service sector location analysis is on maximising revenue. There
are 8 major components of revenue for the service firms: Purchasing power of the customer drawing

American History X Sociology
The brutal 1998 movie American History X, directed by Tony Kaye, follows former skinhead Derek
Vinyard while he is trying to prevent his younger brother, Danny, from going down the same path
Derek was led down. While leading a violent white supremacist cult and being a large part of many
racial crimes throughout the L.A. area, Derek was sentenced to three years in prison for killing two
black men who attempted to break into his truck. Throughout the three years, Derek learns that there
are good and bad people in every race and becomes more open and friendly to those he believed he
was superior to. After getting help in prison, Derek is released on parole and tries to cut ties with his
old brothers, it is then that Derek realizes how much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of racist crimes are committed, a series of racist remarks are made and plenty of disturbing narrow

of racism. Others also believe that the film is much too violent and that the sexual scenes are
unnecessary and do not add anything to the entirety of the

Key Components and Players Involved in Effective City...
Discuss Key Components and Players involved in effective city planning and innovative planning
practices. Include in your discussion issues that arrive concerning eminent domain. Discuss how the
no growth movement influences city growth.
Introduction
Throughout history, one of the major themes has been the migration of people from the country into
the city. This is because many urban centers have greater amounts of opportunity and there are more
services available. During this process, is when a number of regions started to experience increasing
levels of population growth. To accommodate new residents different parcels of land surrounding the
city are utilized. Over the short term, this addressed the immediate growth needs of the region.
However, after longer periods of time, is when the lack of planning led to disorganized pockets of
growth. This depleted natural resources and exposed many of these areas to potential natural disasters
(such as: flooding, landslides or major storms). (United Nations Human Settlement Programs, 2009,
pp. 45 68) To prevent these kinds of issues, most cities need to focus on effective planning and
innovative practices. This will create more stable economic growth and ensure that every part of the
city receives the same kind of services. To achieve these objectives requires examining the various
components and players involved in the process. Together, these elements will offer the greatest
insights as to how cities should strategize and

Confucianism In Vietnam Essay
Vietnam makes up a major part of Indochina, a region whose religions, philosophies, art, and political
organizations were dominated by India and China for two millennia (Buttinger 1968). The region of
Indochina retained its identity, despite the ideology of China that led to continual interference in the
region (Luttwak 2012). Indeed, different Chinese dynasties had made continual efforts to invade and
assimilate Vietnam for around a thousand years before the first central feudal government was formed
in Vietnam in the early 11th century. Even after this period, Vietnam had to continuously guard against
the invasion of Chinese and Mongolian dynasties until the Tay Son Kingdom defeated the invasion
forces of the Qing dynasty in the late 18th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To guard against threats and the risk of assimilation from the Chinese, the Vietnamese had learned
from its northern neighbor to build strong centralized feudal governments along with tireless effort to
maintain friendly relations with China. The feudal government structure was largely borrowed from
China s model in which Confucianism was the main philosophy. A major reason why Confucianism
has become deeply rooted in Vietnam s society was that feudal courts found that it was a reasonable
philosophy to rule (Duiker 1995). To deal with wars or the threat of war, the need for consolidated and
centralized power was prominent. Therefore, there was not much time for discussion or space for
exercising democracy throughout Vietnam s history. The paternalistic style has been the dominant
mode of government in Vietnam. The role of the feudal government mainly focused on defense and
building irrigation systems the backbone of a wet rice economy. All Vietnamese feudal courts treated
China respectfully, and most of them sought recognition from Chinese courts. After victories in wars
with China, Vietnam s feudal courts always sent ambassadors to China to seek reestablishment of
friendly relationships. Furthermore, feudal governments sometimes sought support from China s
feudal courts to act against other external forces, such

No Love for Animals in Sea World
Charles Darwin once said, the love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man. If only
Darwin had been alive to witness the secrets of the well known marine mammal theme park known as
SeaWorld, he would have been as appalled as many have been discovering these hidden secrets. One
of the major issues with SeaWorld is animal captivity. It serves as a profitable way for people to see
and enjoy wild animals, but through the captivity it can transform harmless animals into violent,
agitated monsters in some cases. The defenseless animals, such as the killer whales at Seaworld, are
deprived of their family, lives and freedom, which can lead to exceptional aggression. Many people
that visit SeaWorld or know of the theme park believe that it is just a welcoming marina and a great
place to take family to see wild animals and the remarkable shows that the killer whales present.
Clearly many people do not realize the truth behind what SeaWorld is doing to these poor animals. For
starters, captive marine animals are robbed of most everything that is natural to them such as living in
a family pod and swimming up to a hundred miles each day. Obviously these necessities cannot be
met within the small enclosures where the killer whales live. Another less known fact about SeaWorld
is that it lowers animals life spans quite drastically. Orca whales live on an average of thirty to fifty
years in the wild and some can live to ninety, but the average age for orcas in

Digi Melt
Using a Digi Melt to find the melting point, then determining an appropriate solvent, the identity of an
unknown solid was found, dissolved, gravity filtrated, and recrystallized to produce a pure solid. By
preforming a boiling point test with a thermometer, capillary tube, and water bath, the identity of an
unknown liquid was discovered
Procedure:
MACROSCALE UNKNOWN A
Obtain macroscale unknown and weight out 1 gram *Mass = 1.0518 grams
*Appearance: The compound was white, grainy, and appeared to have sand in it
To take a melting point:
1. A small amount of the unknown was placed on a piece of dry, new filter paper
2. The open end of a capillary tube was thrusted into the unknown to allow a small amount of solid to
be trapped in the tube ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A piece of filter paper was placed on the top of the funnel, placed on top of a filter flask with a
stopper, and clamped to a ring stand
2. A piece of heavy walled tubing was then clamped to the side arm of the flask and connected to the
water trap and then connected to a vacuum source
3. The vacuum adapter was turned on and the filter paper was sucked down, drying out the crystals
4. To wash them, cold recrystallization solvent was used
5. To remove the crystals, a small amount of the cold recrystallization solvent and a spatula was used
to get the crystals out of the flask
6. The vacuum was left turned on for 5 min to make sure the crystals were dry
7. After the crystals were dried by filtration, the crystals were taken out of the funnel and set aside to
dry *During vacuum filtration, I was able to get most of the crystals out of the E. flask, but some were
left in there, which could result in a lower percent yield
When the crystals were completely dry, the were weighed by:
Taking a vial and weighing it empty
Putting the product in the vial and weighing total
Subtract the vial weight from the total weight *Final weight of pure compound: 0.3894 grams
*Final melting point: 114.1 114.6 degrees

Description of the pituitary gland and its function
Use both the flat and 3D models to visualize the following characteristics of the pituitary and its
location
Morphology mechanisms
A tiny almond sized organ
The pituitary gland is composed of three lobes: Anterior, intermediate (smallest) and posterior (see the
figure on the right)
Anterior pituitary (AP): Hormones (up regulation and down regulation) are controlled by the
hypothalamic hormones. The AP is divided into three parts or pars: the pars tuberalis, pars intermedia
and pars distalis.
The posterior pituitary develops as an extension of the hypothalamus and its cells (known as the
magno cellular neuro secretory cells have its cell bodies in the hypothalamus and its axons projecting
into the posterior pituitary.
The anterior pituitary (adenohypophysis) arises from the oral ectoderm while the posterior pituitary
(neurohypophysis) originates from the neuro ectoderm.
The following diagram shows the location and histology of pituitary gland

Exoplanets Research Paper

Exoplanets
An exoplanet can be defined as a planet that orbits a star outside the solar system. One of the many
exoplanets that could possibly be habitable in the near future are far away. For example, Kepler 186 is
around 500 light years aways to put that in perspective that is around 5,878,625,373,183.607731 Miles
away. That is why we know so little about these planets that could support life on them.
Starting off, what is some of the criteria that is needed to live on a planet. The University of Utah put
it best when they described what is needed. One of the most basic needs to live on a different planet is
they need to be a comfortable distance away from their star that is ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
First off, the most common way to find new planets is Radial Velocity. The Radial Velocity method
relies on the fact that a star does not remain completely stationary when it is orbited by a planet. It
moves, ever so slightly, in a small circle or ellipse, responding to the gravitational tug of its smaller
companion. When viewed from a distance, these slight movements affect the star s normal light
spectrum, or color signature. If the star is moving towards the observer, then its spectrum would
appear slightly shifted towards the blue; if it is moving away, it will be shifted towards the red.
Secondly, Transit Photometry is the second most common method. This method detects distant planets
by measuring the minute dimming of a star as an orbiting planet passes between it and the Earth. The
passage of a planet between a star and the Earth is called a transit. If such a dimming is detected at
regular intervals and lasts a fixed length of time, then it is very probable that a planet is orbiting the
star and passing in front of it once every orbital period. Lastly, the method of Microlensing is
Microlensing is the only known method capable of discovering planets at truly great distances from
the Earth. Whereas radial velocity searches look for planets in our immediate galactic neighborhood,
up to 100 light years from Earth, and transit photometry can potentially detect planets at a distance of
hundreds of light years, microlensing can find planets orbiting stars near the center of the galaxy,
thousands of light years away ( How to Search for Exoplanet.). These methods are detrimental to the
discovery of new planets from far

The song The New World written by Jason Robert Brown, describes the feeling of trepidation about
leaving ones home and following a new path. Colm Toibin and Jason Brown both use imagery to show
how lost one feels when searching for home. Eilis s relationship with home shifts and changes as she
struggles to come to terms with the consequences of living in two places both mentally and physically.
She loves her small home town of Enniscorthy, but she doesn t quite fit in with the atmosphere and the
people. In many ways, her home has a socially conservative environment, and not everything is as it
seems. However, her new home in Brooklyn is filled with her feelings of homesickness and nostalgia.
Eilis never feels quite happy there because she is always thinking about her sister Rose and her
mother. Yet, Brooklyn provides her with the opportunity to start over and begin a new life. In the song
The New World the lyrics paint a picture of land that calls to be discovered. A new world call across
the ocean, a new world calls across the sky, a new world whispers in the shadows, time to fly . Jason
Robert brown uses the image of a land across the sea in order to show how distant this new life is.
Similarly in the book, Eilis leaves Ireland and becomes a stranger in an entirely new

Marijuana Should Not Go Without Suspicion
An indian hemp plant, by the name of marijuana, is the unlikely suspect of thousands of drug induced
accidents and/or deaths in Australia today, especially among teens. At first thought, many may believe
alcohol is the outright cause of such accidents, but at a closer look at the facts and figures one will
discover that marijuana should not go without suspicion. The vast amounts of chemicals of which
marijuana contains each have their own impacts unto the human body, not to mention the increasing
use of the drug among teens. It is here then obvious that marijuana should be the headline of this ad
campaign, in comparison to alcohol a much less substantial drug.

In an attempt to get the most out of it , marijuana users have a tendency to inhale deeply and hold the
smoke for as long as possible to increase the effects of the drug, which then on worsens the damage to
the lungs. Another organ marijuana effectively destroys is the immune system of which alcohol has
not yet been seen to damage. Marijuana also contains some cancer causing ingredients that remain for
incredibly long in the body after the drug has been taken. Studies in 2008 have shown a link between
years of heavy marijuana use and brain abnormalities a large suspect of the long patterns of psychosis
in the users of the drug. Some other effects of marijuana use include: deformation of the sperm cells,
disrupted menstrual cycles, diminished mental functions, hereditary defects and, most prominently,
major depression and/or anxiety. Marijuana s unpleasant effects take away any user s quality of life,
let alone a small teen, and continues to have substantially larger impacts unto these children especially
in comparison to alcohol.

Set It Off Themes
Set It Off (1996) is an action packed, star studded film focusing on the lives of four African American
female friends in a tough inner city environment who are willing to go to any length, including bank
robbery, to escape the limitations and struggles of their gender, race, and socioeconomic status.
According to director Gary Gray, the film is not so much about robbing banks as choices young sisters
make when their backs are against the wall (Gregory 1996, 56). While the film has similar urban
youth struggles found in many of the other ghettocentric films of the 1990s, Set It Off distinguishes
itself in the genre due to presenting a largely unique all star cast of blacktresses and also for portraying
themes concentrated on the plight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in contrast to the other exclusively male dominated and themed films also released in the
decade, when Set It Off was coauthored by Kate Lanier and Takashi Bufford in the early 1990s, it was
intentionally grounded in close observation of the harsh realities faced by four female friends living in
Los Angeles, California. In an opening scene, Frankie is fired for having a personal connection to a
man who robs the bank where she is a bank teller even though she clearly has no involvement in the
robbery. Stoney s younger brother is later that evening wrongfully gunned down by police at his own
high school graduation ceremony when he is mistakenly identified as being the same neighborhood
friend who had earlier robbed Frankie s bank. Because she is a single mother earning low wages and
has no means to pay for childcare, T.T. s young son is taken away by child protective services when
the child is injured at her janitorial job as soon as desperation forces her to bring him to work with her.
Each of these closely chronological events, most notably T.T. s necessity to obtain money for legal
fees in order to regain custody of her son, lead the foursome to form a pact to rob banks together. Cleo
is the only friend who appears to have no clear aspiration to leave their urban lifestyle.

Pros And Cons Of Chirldren Spend In Front Of Screens Essay
When it comes to children spending time infront of screens such as tv s, tablets, I pads, cell phones
and video games it can be a difficult argument for parents. Parents can widely dissagree on their
perspectives. Making this a difficult topic for them to come to solution on. Where both sides make
good valid points for why chirldren should or should not limit the time they spend in front of screens.
I thnk a lot of it has to do with what these children are watching and exactly just how long are they
watching for. Spending to much time in front of screens can have negative affects on a child. To much
screen time can take a physical and mental toll on chirldren. Lights from these screens can confuse
chirldren s body clocks and disrupt sleep. To much screen time can also fractue viewers attention and
sap mental energy. Depression and obesity have aslo been linked to to much screen viewing. Time in
fornt of screens can also be a good thing. When parents watch televison or play video games with their

happenings outside the arena due to the ability to switch between internal and external focalisation
(Fisher 28). Characters thoughts are foreshadowed throughout the novel using diction unlike the film,
which portrays differed details from the novel to achieve the same effect (Lothe 86). With a long
discourse time in the novel, and the use of tropes and symbols in the film, both Collins and Ross
portray characters inner thoughts (Fisher 30). These examples would give a better understanding of
how the novel and film version of The Hunger Games represent characters thoughts and feelings such
as that of hatred, being hurt, love, and grief.

Alexander I defeated Napoleon during his invasion of Russia in 1812 13. He then created the Holy

The Oklahoma City Thunder Went Into Oracle Arena
On Monday night, the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder went into Oracle Arena and knocked off the
Golden State Warriors 108 102 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The Thunder were able
to win on Monday night, thanks to a 19 point third quarter performance from point guard Russell
Westbrook. Westbrook s play in the third quarter was the key to Oklahoma City s comeback as they
were down 13 points at the half. The first half was not good for the Thunder or Westbrook as he
struggled with his jump shot. As a team, the Thunder shot 45.5 percent from the field but shot 50.0
percent from three point range, which kept them in striking distance. But what killed Oklahoma City
in the first two quarters was turnovers as they had 10. Those 1o turnovers, lead to 15 points for the
Warriors. As I mentioned earlier, Westbrook struggled on offense as he was getting outplayed by his
counterpart, two time MVP Stephen Curry. In the first half, Curry had 14 points on 5 of 11 shooting
from the field, to go along with six rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Westbrook was getting beat
at his own game, which is stuffing the stat sheet and making an impact in every facet of the game. In
the first half, Westbrook only scored three points, as he shot a horrendous 1 of 8 from the field. With
Westbrook not making an impact in the scoring department, he made sure to get his teammates
involved early and often as he dished out eight assists in the first half. Thankfully, on the other end of

The Purpose Of A College Education
I have always taken for granted that I would go to college. As I near the end of my senior year, some
of my friends shudder at the thought of enduring four more years of schooling an education that isn t
free for most by any means. But even though the fear of money crept through my head some nights, I
still knew that I would do anything to have the privilege of an education beyond a high school
diploma. I knew college would change my life; and with that in mind, I wanted to help change the
world. College education leads to many opportunities. Obviously, a degree will furnish credibility to
resumes, helping one earn higher salaries than those who do not have a degree. A college education

learn more about different cultures, and to become an educated young woman with the potential to

to succeed.
The thought of a college education inspires me to push past my limitations, to reach for something that
may be unattainable while still giving my all. Without education, our society would crumble. Who
would be our doctors, our scientists, our philosophers? Who would lay the foundation of our society?
This thought is at the root of my dreams. If I want the world to improve, I need to prepare to get my

We are fighting a war against injustice, poverty, and disease. We are fighting against our own

will fight for what I believe in, no matter what. That is the true value of a college education: to live for
something bigger than yourself. One day, I want to find the cure for cancer. Maybe it seems

church, so we had shut down. My family then attended Family Christian Center (FCC) in Munster,

I attended Two52 Youth Culture, FCC s youth ministry. There I met Sade. Everyone enjoyed her

Excellence In The Works Of Martin Luther King Jr.
Excellence is a self imposed standard of conduct. In addition, excellence also, ...means replacing
bumbling with efficiency, carelessness with skill, embarrassment with pride (Johnston page 24). This
is what we mean by the word excellence. Excellence is difficult to define because, ... we all certainly
recognize it when we observe it in others. And we are refreshed and reassured when we witness it
(Johnston page 25). This word can also be defined as, a certain style of life, a manner of living, a
bigness of spirit, a point of view, a frame of reference, a set of priorities, a hierarchy of values, an
admirable self imposed standard (Johnston page 25). Johnston s statement on Martin Luther King Jr.

There is usually some overlap. People who focus on one frequently attain a measure of the other. At
this point it might be helpful to examine both success and excellence (Johnston page 29, 30). For
purposes of discussion, let us establish the term success as attaining cultural goals that are sure to
elevate one s perceived importance within that culture (Johnston page30). Success is so sought after
because, our comprehension of excellence is enhanced by contrasting it with something we constantly
hear about: success. Also, I am not implying that one is invariably good and the other is always
undesirable. It is evident that success pales in the brilliance of excellence. The latter, in comparison
with the former, is an essential ingredient in the character of any nation (Johnston page 37). Therefore,
in our world, excellence must not be perceived as optional. It is a necessity (Johnston page

Social and ecological vulnerability to disasters and outcomes of any particular extreme event are
influenced by buildup or erosion of resilience both before and after disasters occur (Adger et al., 2005,
p. 1036). In the Bangladesh Typhoon, major erosion occurred even after the storm had passed causing
agriculture to wash away. Additionally, many more people died in the Bangladesh Typhoon compared
to Hurricane Andrew and this could have been because people in coastal regions in the United States
are more used to having the resources and support when it comes to protecting themselves from a

and this may be because Florida, where the most damage occurred, is closer to the coast compared to

The Thrill That Kills
Street racing has become a very dangerous sport in the 20th century. In the article The Thrill That

article was published Sept. 17, 2001 in MacLean s. This is an article that tries to reach out to street
racers and also anyone interested in knowing more about street racing and its dangers. The article
discusses how for the driver, racing is an exciting adrenaline rush, but for the people, is an
endangerment to their safety. The author uses facts like how dozens of innocent people have died due
to street racing. Even drivers themselves die because of losing control or hitting another car. This

They can put everyone around them in danger because of this. Some racers though do have years of
driving experience but when a driver is going at high speeds, even the slightest mis calculation can
lead them to their doom. A professional NASCAR racer could die in street racing, not because of their
driving, but because of the possibility of a random car to cross the traffic, because remember, they are
on a public road.
Paul Mark touches both the street racers and the general people s sides of emotions in this article. Paul
Mark is one of the few non street racers to admit how street racing is exciting, but is also quick to
come back to reality to recognize the consequences of it. Yes street racing is fun, exciting, and an
adrenaline rush, but it is not worth people dying over. The bottom line that Paul Mark explains in this
article is that people are dying. This is not going to be tolerated and will have police on a heavy crack
down against street racers.
Paul Mark touches us deep down inside by the use of telling about the people that died in his article. It
is all fun and games until someone dies. That is what it takes for people to realize how dangerous
street racing is. People feel remorse for those that have died and therefore feel the need to act against
the cause. No one wants to lose a loved one. The thought that the innocent person hit by one of the

to the test parameters, at the start of the experiment, the thermal output of the reactor should have been

Theme Of Madness In Dante s Inferno
Dante as a madman is defined as well as understood as an irrational figure, a figure possessing
qualities that contradict Dante the poet who in turn is rational and calculated through his use of
language within Inferno. The idea of madness can be portrayed in various different ways, one being to
be in a state of madness (a madman), is to be, mentally ill , or otherwise to be someone that portrays
irrationality in their actions (Soanes, Hawker and Elliott 2006). Wilson considers two such contrasting
characteristics (the scholarly poet as well as the irrational madman) to derive from one Dante
Alighieri: the author as well as creator of the Inferno. Such a form of malice can be seen through the
idea of revenge, an intention to harm on a personal level. In the eighth canto through Dante s

serene scholarly poet allows for the poem to be read in suspense resulting in the unpredictable turn of
events to occur in which Wilson described as the performance of a person whom suffers from Tourette

Johannes Kepler Research Paper
Have you ever been the slightest bit curious about who discovered the three major laws of planetary
motion? Or what about the guy who discovered that the planets move around the Sun in orbits like
ellipses? Johannes Kepler, one of the greatest scientists of all history.
Johannes Kepler was born on December 27th 1571 in Weil der Stadt, Germany, he died on November
15th 1630 in Regensburg, Germany at age 58. Johannes Kepler came up with the 3 major laws of
planetary motion: One, the planets move in elliptical orbits with the sun at onfocus. Two, the time

Malathion Spray
Malathion spray being used for mosquitoes in our community isn t good for our health or the
environment. If you are exposed to the fumes of the spray it can cause you to get headaches, muscle
weakness, vomiting and other symptoms. It may work on the mosquitoes but is very harmful to
everyone else breathing it. You can also be affected from Malathion from drinking water and food. It
breaks down faster in water and will eventually go away. Our children stand a high risk of catching
symptoms from the spray. Our kids are always outside and if you have a truck rolling by your
neighborhood spraying for mosquitoes they are more likely to catch something from that. This types
of mosquito spray hasn t even been proven effective so why should it be used. ... Show more content

Yeah everything has side affects you come in contact with but this one can be avoided. I m sure that
there are places that are over run with mosquitoes but you can call your local pest control ad they will
come out and spray your grass with other types of chemicals without pumping a white cloud of
chemicals like the trucks that drive down the streets now. Yeah you might have to pay a little bit but
you know what is going to be sprayed on your yard and you don t have to keep everyone locked up for
a day like you would with the Malathion truck spraying. In my neighborhood they actually do drive by
once a month and spray for mosquitoes. I never really knew what would happen if you had high
volumes in your systems. I never knew that I was supposed to stay in the house for that day. You never
know when they are going to come by and spray either. You ll just be outside and hear the truck and
see the big cloud following it. After having to do this paper I want to find out what my community is
spraying and see if the side effects are similar and see what guidelines they have to follow in using

Populist Party Analysis
From 1880 to 1925, opinions on whether or not immigrants should be allowed in the United States of
America shifted majorly. As time progressed, the American people became disillusioned with the idea
of immigrants in America. Different specific time periods showed the majority opinion, and how it
changed United States citizens reactions to immigrants from a smile of acceptance to a scowl of
distrust. Between the years 1880 and 1890, the American people was generally either accepting or at
least tolerant of foreign citizens immigrating to the United States and beginning their new lives. An
1880 political cartoon published in Puck magazine shows Uncle Sam, representing America,

Sociologist Edward Ross wrote a 1914 article in Century Magazine titled :Immigrants in Politics , in
which he tells the story of Bostonians who return to their home town to find that many government
officials were of Irish descent, as illustrated in this passage, greeted by Mayor Fitzgerald and the
following members of congress: O Connell, Kelihar, Sullivan, and McNary... It should be noted that
all five surnames listed in this segment have roots in Ireland. This article shows why many citizens of
the United States were afraid of immigrants, as they believed that outsiders would overtake their
government. In 1916, anthropologist Madison Grant published The Passing of the Great Race, which
was a major book in the genre of scientific racism, a field where scientist look for biological reasons
to support their theories on racial bias. Most of the book is dedicated to proving Grant s racism
correct; however, there is a section that highlights his belief very well. In no other human stock...is
there displayed the unanimity of heart, mind and action which is now being displayed by the
descendants of the blue eyed, fair haired peoples of...Europe. This perspective gives insight to what

  • 4. Key Components and Players Involved in Effective City... Discuss Key Components and Players involved in effective city planning and innovative planning practices. Include in your discussion issues that arrive concerning eminent domain. Discuss how the no growth movement influences city growth. Introduction Throughout history, one of the major themes has been the migration of people from the country into the city. This is because many urban centers have greater amounts of opportunity and there are more services available. During this process, is when a number of regions started to experience increasing levels of population growth. To accommodate new residents different parcels of land surrounding the city are utilized. Over the short term, this addressed the immediate growth needs of the region. However, after longer periods of time, is when the lack of planning led to disorganized pockets of growth. This depleted natural resources and exposed many of these areas to potential natural disasters (such as: flooding, landslides or major storms). (United Nations Human Settlement Programs, 2009, pp. 45 68) To prevent these kinds of issues, most cities need to focus on effective planning and innovative practices. This will create more stable economic growth and ensure that every part of the city receives the same kind of services. To achieve these objectives requires examining the various components and players involved in the process. Together, these elements will offer the greatest insights as to how cities should strategize and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Confucianism In Vietnam Essay Vietnam makes up a major part of Indochina, a region whose religions, philosophies, art, and political organizations were dominated by India and China for two millennia (Buttinger 1968). The region of Indochina retained its identity, despite the ideology of China that led to continual interference in the region (Luttwak 2012). Indeed, different Chinese dynasties had made continual efforts to invade and assimilate Vietnam for around a thousand years before the first central feudal government was formed in Vietnam in the early 11th century. Even after this period, Vietnam had to continuously guard against the invasion of Chinese and Mongolian dynasties until the Tay Son Kingdom defeated the invasion forces of the Qing dynasty in the late 18th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To guard against threats and the risk of assimilation from the Chinese, the Vietnamese had learned from its northern neighbor to build strong centralized feudal governments along with tireless effort to maintain friendly relations with China. The feudal government structure was largely borrowed from China s model in which Confucianism was the main philosophy. A major reason why Confucianism has become deeply rooted in Vietnam s society was that feudal courts found that it was a reasonable philosophy to rule (Duiker 1995). To deal with wars or the threat of war, the need for consolidated and centralized power was prominent. Therefore, there was not much time for discussion or space for exercising democracy throughout Vietnam s history. The paternalistic style has been the dominant mode of government in Vietnam. The role of the feudal government mainly focused on defense and building irrigation systems the backbone of a wet rice economy. All Vietnamese feudal courts treated China respectfully, and most of them sought recognition from Chinese courts. After victories in wars with China, Vietnam s feudal courts always sent ambassadors to China to seek reestablishment of friendly relationships. Furthermore, feudal governments sometimes sought support from China s feudal courts to act against other external forces, such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. No Love for Animals in Sea World Charles Darwin once said, the love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man. If only Darwin had been alive to witness the secrets of the well known marine mammal theme park known as SeaWorld, he would have been as appalled as many have been discovering these hidden secrets. One of the major issues with SeaWorld is animal captivity. It serves as a profitable way for people to see and enjoy wild animals, but through the captivity it can transform harmless animals into violent, agitated monsters in some cases. The defenseless animals, such as the killer whales at Seaworld, are deprived of their family, lives and freedom, which can lead to exceptional aggression. Many people that visit SeaWorld or know of the theme park believe that it is just a welcoming marina and a great place to take family to see wild animals and the remarkable shows that the killer whales present. Clearly many people do not realize the truth behind what SeaWorld is doing to these poor animals. For starters, captive marine animals are robbed of most everything that is natural to them such as living in a family pod and swimming up to a hundred miles each day. Obviously these necessities cannot be met within the small enclosures where the killer whales live. Another less known fact about SeaWorld is that it lowers animals life spans quite drastically. Orca whales live on an average of thirty to fifty years in the wild and some can live to ninety, but the average age for orcas in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Exoplanets Research Paper Gabe Bambarakos Mrs.Rowse Borelli English 10 F 12 April 2017 Exoplanets An exoplanet can be defined as a planet that orbits a star outside the solar system. One of the many exoplanets that could possibly be habitable in the near future are far away. For example, Kepler 186 is around 500 light years aways to put that in perspective that is around 5,878,625,373,183.607731 Miles away. That is why we know so little about these planets that could support life on them. Starting off, what is some of the criteria that is needed to live on a planet. The University of Utah put it best when they described what is needed. One of the most basic needs to live on a different planet is they need to be a comfortable distance away from their star that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First off, the most common way to find new planets is Radial Velocity. The Radial Velocity method relies on the fact that a star does not remain completely stationary when it is orbited by a planet. It moves, ever so slightly, in a small circle or ellipse, responding to the gravitational tug of its smaller companion. When viewed from a distance, these slight movements affect the star s normal light spectrum, or color signature. If the star is moving towards the observer, then its spectrum would appear slightly shifted towards the blue; if it is moving away, it will be shifted towards the red. Secondly, Transit Photometry is the second most common method. This method detects distant planets by measuring the minute dimming of a star as an orbiting planet passes between it and the Earth. The passage of a planet between a star and the Earth is called a transit. If such a dimming is detected at regular intervals and lasts a fixed length of time, then it is very probable that a planet is orbiting the star and passing in front of it once every orbital period. Lastly, the method of Microlensing is Microlensing is the only known method capable of discovering planets at truly great distances from the Earth. Whereas radial velocity searches look for planets in our immediate galactic neighborhood, up to 100 light years from Earth, and transit photometry can potentially detect planets at a distance of hundreds of light years, microlensing can find planets orbiting stars near the center of the galaxy, thousands of light years away ( How to Search for Exoplanet.). Colm Toibin and Jason Brown both use imagery to show how lost one feels when searching for home. She loves her small home town of Enniscorthy, but she doesn t quite fit in with the atmosphere and the people. In many ways, her home has a socially conservative environment, and not everything is as it seems. However, her new home in Brooklyn is filled with her feelings of homesickness and nostalgia. While the novel is written as a first person narrative, the story is told with a third person narrator the film, the latter giving insights to happenings outside the arena due to the ability to switch between internal and external focalisation (Fisher 28). Characters thoughts are foreshadowed throughout the novel using diction unlike the film, which portrays differed details from the novel to achieve the same effect (Lothe 86). The Oklahoma City Thunder Went Into Oracle Arena On Monday night, the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder went into Oracle Arena and knocked off the Golden State Warriors 108 102 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The Thunder were able to win on Monday night, thanks to a 19 point third quarter performance from point guard Russell Westbrook. Westbrook s play in the third quarter was the key to Oklahoma City s comeback as they were down 13 points at the half. The first half was not good for the Thunder or Westbrook as he struggled with his jump shot. As a team, the Thunder shot 45.5 percent from the field but shot 50.0 percent from three point range, which kept them in striking distance. Success is so sought after because, our comprehension of excellence is enhanced by contrasting it with something we constantly hear about: success. Also, I am not implying that one is invariably good and the other is always undesirable. It is evident that success pales in the brilliance of excellence. The latter, in comparison with the former, is an essential ingredient in the character of any nation (Johnston page 37). Therefore, in our world, excellence must not be perceived as optional. Social and ecological vulnerability to disasters and outcomes of any particular extreme event are influenced by buildup or erosion of resilience both before and after disasters occur (Adger et al., 2005, p. 1036). In the Bangladesh Typhoon, major erosion occurred even after the storm had passed causing agriculture to wash away. Additionally, many more people died in the Bangladesh Typhoon compared to Hurricane Andrew and this could have been because people in coastal regions in the United States are more used to having the resources and support when it comes to protecting themselves from a natural disaster. Hurricane Andrew did result in larger damages compared to the Bangladesh Typhoon and this may be because Florida, where the most damage occurred, is closer to the coast compared to where the Bangladesh Typhoon did its most ... A professional NASCAR racer could die in street racing, not because of their driving, but because of the possibility of a random car to cross the traffic, because remember, they are on a public road. Paul Mark touches both the street racers and the general people s sides of emotions in this article. Paul Mark is one of the few non street racers to admit how street racing is exciting, but is also quick to come back to reality to recognize the consequences of it. Yes street racing is fun, exciting, and an adrenaline rush, but it is not worth people dying over. The bottom line that Paul Mark explains in this article is that people are dying. According to the test parameters, at the start of the experiment, the thermal output of the reactor should have been no lower than 700 MW. If the conditions of the reactor had been as planned, the test almost certainly would have proceeded safely. • 38. Theme Of Madness In Dante s Inferno Dante as a madman is defined as well as understood as an irrational figure, a figure possessing qualities that contradict Dante the poet who in turn is rational and calculated through his use of language within Inferno. The idea of madness can be portrayed in various different ways, one being to be in a state of madness (a madman), is to be, mentally ill , or otherwise to be someone that portrays irrationality in their actions (Soanes, Hawker and Elliott 2006). Wilson considers two such contrasting characteristics (the scholarly poet as well as the irrational madman) to derive from one Dante Alighieri: the author as well as creator of the Inferno.
