L Oreal Company Analysis
One of the biggest names in the make up industry is L Oreal. L Oreal runs a massive worldwide
operation employing nearly 62,000 men and women of various races, backgrounds and religions
across nearly 60 countries. Part of the reason for the corporation s success has been its sensitivity not
only to its consumers but also to each and every one of its employees. The corporation has made sure
that all their employees have opportunities to develop themselves both personally and professionally.
This commitment by the corporation to take care of their own employees has resulted in L Oreal being
rated by the European business school students as The Employer of Choice for the year 2006 (L Oreal
Corporation, n.d.). With over a century of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, there are also other notable weaknesses applicable to L Oreal. Another weakness point is
the existence of false claims in advertising. In May of 2007, L Oreal was ordered by the Therapeutic
Goods Administration of Australia to retract their claims on the wrinkle removing capabilities of their
products (Anti Aging Wrinkle Creams are a Rip Off).
Opportunities One of the areas of opportunity for L Oreal is its increased supply of ecologically and
environmentally friendly ingredients. L Oreal can increase their supply of ecologically and
environmentally friendly ingredients by furthering their Sustainability Assessment Framework and
working even more closely with current and new suppliers to address predetermined concerns (L
Oreal Corporation, n.d.). Another point of opportunity for the company is to increase its sales of its
Active Cosmetics product line. For 2006 alone, The Active Cosmetics product line of L Oreal made up
7.5% in total revenue for the corporation. L Oreal has recognized the growth in demand for active
cosmetics, that is why the corporation has been acquiring companies in the active cosmetics line. By
increasing their marketing and product line up for active cosmetics, L Oreal can reach a wider range of
consumers (L Oreal Corporation, n.d.). A third area of opportunity for L Oreal is that it could work on
purchasing of more successful cosmetics companies.

Is The Argument Of Academic Work Can Be Channeled Through...
The essays are related because Graff proposes the argument of academic work can be channeled
through personal interests. Peacocke s essay provides an example of Graff s argument because she
provides a remarkable piece of literature talking about the pros and cons of her favorite show Family
Guy. I really enjoyed how Peacocke used examples from very comical moments in Family Guy like
the Business instructional video in the 1950s that had some sexism on how to treat women in the
workplace. She showed the negative impacts of the show like the protests of parents, but it was
brought back two times after fans pressured Fox into reopening the show. Video games are an interest

Then the animation and motion stage begins. The programmers then used advanced coding technology
to make the exoskeleton move in the background and it begins to come to life. Next is the
environment the game takes place. Details like a shimmering reflection off a window, or how realistic
water in a lake looks often goes unnoticed by the players, but it makes the game environment look that
much more impressive. 3 D objects are created by using polygons, which are just like blank sheets of
paper that are used to make creative ideas that come together. Consoles and computers use a special
chip that allows images to be applied on to the polygon. Then this allows a 3 D environment to be
created and interacted with the characters. The game is then coded and the testing phase begins.
Coding is what puts all the gaming elements together to work as one. Games are written based on C
programming to generate the codes for the polygons to make the environment with the shadows and
textures. After the coding is complete, the testing phase begins by selecting a group of people
interested in the game to find bugs or problems in the games. The alpha version is the first version
released to fix the major flaws and the beta version is tested until the developers release the final
version. The marketing phase begins with the publisher spending money to advertise for games for
profit. Some methods include a

Essay On Scotland Act 1998
Scotland is considered as the most northerly part of the United Kingdom as it occupied one third of
total area of the United Kingdom. Scotland has an important and strategic location as it is bordered by
England from the south, Atlantic Ocean from the north and west and by the North Sea from the west.
However Scotland is considered as one of the poorest countries in Europe, it has contributed to
political theories as it also played an important role in the scientific innovations.
In the early middle ages, Scotland was an independent state until 1707. In 1603, King James VI ruled
both England and Scotland, then he showed his intension to unite the two states and they were united
which is called Anglo Scottish Union. Scotland s relations with England, ... Show more content on

The Mountains Of Central Appalachia
Trent Brown
Professor Lautenshlager
English 2614
30 November 2014
The mountains of central Appalachia have always been known for, almost exclusively, the booming
coal deposits that inhabit it, as well as the controversy that comes with the industry. The controversy
that involves the wildlife, ecosystems, and residents of the area is one with fine lines, gray areas, and
more than simply a good and evil side. The mountains of Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and
Tennessee are also home to some of the most extensive biodiversity in our country, as well as rich
cultural heritage that extends to the earliest years of our nation. Everything that makes central
Appalachia unique and identifiable is exactly what they might be in jeopardy of losing. Surface
mining began to replace traditional underground mining around WWII (Bozzi 116). Rather than
digging into the mountain to extract the coal, strip mining involves removing the overlying soil and
rock that covers the coal deposits (Lutz 1). It seemed appealing at first because the previous known
dangers of black lung disease and cave ins were now limited with the surface mining method (Bozzi
116). However, surface mining came with it s own problems, a lot of them being more serious and
irreversible than underground mining (Allen 182). This method of surface mining was the spark that
created the trend of mountaintop removal (Bozzi 117). Mountaintop removal is the complete
destruction of the mountain peak in order to reach coal

Diana Nyad Research Paper
Diana Nyad is well known for swimming from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage; her experience
can teach others to see the world and themselves in a whole new perspective. Although she
accomplished her goal, it took Nyad a total of five attempts in order to successfully swim from Cuba
to Florida. Her fifth and final attempt to make this journey took her approximately fifty three hours.
The distance was over 110 miles, which broke the world record for the distance swam without the
protection of a shark cage. Even though Nyad went through hard times during her expedition, she
never gave up on herself. Her experience plays a large role in not only how people see the world, but
the way they see themselves too.
The hard times that Nyad encountered during the swim only made her stronger. She experienced
severe cold temperatures, which could have lead to hypothermia very quickly. As she was swimming
down the Florida Straits, she began to vomit because of the large ... Show more content on

She states, Never, ever give up, you re never too old to chase your dreams. It looks like a solitary sport

considers success. During the interview she states, I m proud that I swam the distance, but I m even
more proud that I found a way to intelligently assemble a team that formulated solutions to the
extensive variables to make our way across. That s success (Viti). Nyad is beyond proud of her
accomplishment of swimming from Cuba to Florida, however she mentions that in some way,
everything is a team effort. Her team is what helped her accomplish her own personal goal, and she is
thankful for that. This can make people realize that personal goals can be accomplished as a team
effort, and asking for help is okay. Nyad can influence the perspectives of many people around the

My Favorite Waste Of Time
Bishop Asaiah took us places at times. One of my favorite places to go was to the public pool in the
valley. On Saturdays, we would go to the park with the swimming to the Public Pool. But there is one
day that stands out in my mind about the creativity of my friend Terry. Our Park Story! During the
summer months on Saturday mornings, some of us kids would go to the public swimming pool. I was
12 years old and enjoyed cooling off and splashing in the water. I always wanted to swim in the pool
longer than my friends. I was the dark girl (half black), and everyone else was white except my
brother. They used to frustrate me to no end because they didn t want to swim the entire time. They
wanted to lay out with their towels and lay on the cement and get tans.
My thinking was A tan is an annoying waste of time if you are born with a perfect color of skin. They
would smile and tell me how lucky I was to be a bit darker, then roll over to make sure their tan would
be even. I did not want to go in the pool by myself.
One summer afternoon, though, it was just my friend Terry and me. We had gone swimming at the
pool, and then we dressed back into shirts and shorts. We walked to the park to find something to do
waiting for our ride back home. We decided to play catch. Of course, we did not have a ball. I do not
even remember balls at the Fountain. But with Terry s creativity, we played catch without something
to throw. So we stood in the green

Five Star Hotels: Five star hotels are often in need of strong consultants who require who guide the
hotel in the right direction. This would be necessary in the case of expansion, human resources and
even sustainability even though they typically have secure structure and financing. Five star hotels
make up a significant portion of our target market.
Five Star Resorts: Typically seasonal in nature, Resorts tend to go into a lull towards the end of a
season. These resorts approach consultants during these times so as to make the most of a slack season
where profits and occupancy decline. Although a smaller market segment compared to five star hotels,
five star resorts still require the services of a consultant even if they are experienced companies.
Michelin Star Restaurants: Michelin Star restaurants are some of the highest rated and most expensive
restaurants in the world. Needless to say, that even some of the best restaurants need consulting. The
challenge of whetting the appetite of a gourmand would mean adapting to the ever changing trends in
food and service preferences. These restaurants occupy a niche portion of our target market, as they
are few in number.
Elite Nightclubs: It is common knowledge that nightclubs have a rather short life span. The same goes

Drones invading privacy
What s going on?
Graham Kerrisk spotted a small drone filming him through the window at his home in Masterton at 10
feet in the air. He knew the new multi rotor remote controlled craft belonged to his neighbour. At the
cost of $1600 it contained a live video feed, high resolution still camera and GPS. However Mr.
Kerrisk didn t find an apology acceptable enough for the drone s sneaky actions and went to find
answers from the police, but what he received was not the help he expected, however that didn t stop

(Option 2) Cause of action for invasion of privacy if the drone has a camera that has recorded private
activity, which could ultimately culminate in a temporary restraining order against the drone.
Option that is best and why.
Option 1 Cause of action for trespass might do the trick but is not effective enough to keep the drone
away from the property.
That s why I choose option 2 cause of action for invasion of privacy because with everything that
drones do, they are sure to include a camera so they can have that bird s eye view of what they re
wanting to video record or take pictures of, in relation to Mr. Kerrisk s case I m sure he would ve
chosen option 2 because the drone was filming him from outside his window, all of what the drone
captured would ve been enough for him to file a cause of action for invasion of privacy would ve been
better for him to select that option and at the same time wait for a reply from the Aviation NZ for their
response on what action to take up next with drones causing privacy concerns.

Mental Retardation and Child Development
There are general stages children pass through as they develop and certain time frames during which
these transitions occur. There is not a specific time that is considered normal for any individual child
to attain a goal, as cultural and environmental factors are also important to development, but
researchers have formed general, broad ranges of time in which skills such as walking and talking are
displayed. Children with disabilities or delays may follow different paths of development. Children
with mental retardation have been found to pass through typical stages of development, such as Jean
Piaget s stages of cognitive development, but at a much slower rate. Burack, Hodapp, and Zigler
(1998) however, contrast the idea that slowness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Developmental disabilities also are limited to more severe and chronic disabilities, while there are
broader levels of mental retardation ranging from mild to profound (U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services, 2006). The U.S. Census does not collect data on persons with mental retardation or
intellectual disabilities, but there are best estimates by several authorities in the field as to how
common mental retardation is. It is estimated that about three percent of the national population is
affected by mental retardation. This figure includes those who are currently receiving special services,
those who used to receive special services, and those unknown cases. Hodapp and Zigler (1986) have
found the ratio of endogenous (no brain damage) to exogenous (organic damage) retardation to be
75% to 25%. These statistics translate into one out of every ten families being affected by at least one
member with an intellectual disability (USDHHS, 2006). According to the Children s Defense Fund
(2003), about five percent of the nation s preschoolers have a disability and require early intervention
or special needs programs. Low income families and families living in poverty are at a much greater
risk of having a child with a disability. An individual s ability to function mentally, physically, and
behaviorally depends on the severity of retardation. The

Gender Roles In Memoirs Of A Geisha
During the early 1900s, society has given men and women roles they are expected to follow, with men
being the provider and money makers, and women having to look after the house and children. In
Japanese societies, women are sold away as geishas and prostitutes, while men work in factories and
big companies. Women are treated as inferior to men, as men have a clear cut dominance over them.
This is something they must understand, and were expected to follow the rules and restrictions that
come with it. In the novel Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, gender roles play a very significant
role, portraying the traditional stereotypes of male and females, showing how males are the more
dominant gender, which is evident through the opportunity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
First, the novel shows how men can pursue their goals and leave the position they are in, while women
must stick with the role they are put into and do not have the choice of leaving it behind for something
else. One of the characters in the novel, the Chairman, is the founder of a company called Iwamura
Electric, which is one of the bigger electric companies in Japan. Before going on to establish his own
company, he works at a small electric corporation where he comes up with the idea to allow the use of
two lightbulbs in a socket built for only one, however, the manager does not think it s a good design.
This is revealed when the narrator says the director of the of the company wouldn t build it, and so at
the age of twenty two, shortly after marrying, the Chairman left to establish his own company (Golden
210). This reveals that men have the free will to leave a job if they wish, and are given the opportunity
to follow their passion without having to be held back to one profession. However, women are not
given this opportunity, as they are sold away without having the choice to leave or do something else
with their lives. The women grow up to become geishas, and if they aren t beautiful enough, they are
sent into prostitution. Once a woman becomes a geisha, they have no choice but to continue living this
way, as the only other choices they have is to become a prostitute, maid, or unemployed. This is
evident when one of the geishas says we don t become geisha so our lives will be satisfying. We
become geisha because we have no other choice (Golden 294). Women are not given the opportunity
to pursue something else, as they are put into their roles based on how they look and are not given any
other alternative. Men are portrayed as the dominant gender in this aspect as not only do they have the

COMPANY ANALYSIS SWOT PESTLE The SWOT analysis (Appendix 1) shows that Coopers has a
competitive advantage in the company s style of advertising and its crafted beers position. The main
threats are from being a small niche player and having no imported beer products. In simple terms,
niche (marketing) can be defined as fulfilling the needs of a tightly defined market segment (Kotler
and Keller 2006). Through its products, Coopers focuses on various niches, but the principal market
for its main product group consists of those drinkers aged over 35 for whom product quality is
important and price is not a primary consideration. From PESTLE (Appendix 2) the key findings are:
Compliance and understanding of the implications and ever evolving laws associated with
manufacturing and distribution of alcohol (e.g. excise duties increases). Implementation of innovative
technology. This is evidenced through its state of the art brewing, bottling and manufacturing robotics
in the Regency Park plant. Fulfilment of environmental obligations through eco friendly plant and

Make no mistake: the southern states did not secede in order to protect the right own human chattel
and the north did not fight to free the slaves. Abolition came about as a matter of political expedience
and as a tool of war. For more on that issue, read the debates surrounding the passage of the
Confiscation Acts. Very few outside the vocal cadre of outspoken abolitionists were concerned with
the plight of those of African descent. On the social side, no one in the north, forget the south, wanted
an influx of uneducated, homeless, angry former slaves with no income, no means of support and no
marketable job skills into their neighborhoods. Lincoln himself wanted to settle freed slaves in
colonies to be established for the purpose in uninhabited areas of Texas and Missouri, on Caribbean
islands or in Indian Territory. He did NOT want them settling in Washington DC or in Illinois
especially, or in any other white region generally. In the north, with its ever increasing influx of
immigrants, freed slaves were not a welcome prospect. The immigrants, especially the Irish, were
despised and equated with the Africans as a sub species not capable of participating in government
and not entitled to rights of citizenship or equal protection of law and due process. Calhoun did not

The Influence Of The Ancient Greek Olympic Games
The ancient Greek people came up with many ideas and made many advancements that changed today
s world. One such creation was the Olympics. Athletes all over the world dedicate their lives to a
sport, using a combination of talent and hard work in the hope they they will one day represent their
country in the Olympic Games. These Games first came into existence in ancient Greece during the
year 776 BC. According to an article published by the Penn Museum, The ancient Olympic Games
were primarily a part of a religious festival in honor of Zeus, the father of the Greek gods and
goddesses. Though the Games died out around 400 AD, the idea remained. Then, in 1896, the first
modern day Olympics took place in their place of origin Olympia, Greece with 34 participating
countries. From there, they continued to grow in size until they became the massive global event that
they are today (The ancient Olympic games, 2017). Even though few people know much about Zeus,
and even fewer people care, it is thanks to him and the rest of the Greek gods and goddesses that the
world can come together every four years and honor the the best of the best.

Even the words people speak would not be the same without the influence of Greek mythology. Many

Victor Frankenstein travels to Ingolstadt to study. Once there, he was stuck to the sciences and
especially for chemistry. He reads all the books he could come over and going at all lectures in the
subject. In the end, one thing that interests him most and is the body s structure and origin of life s
principles are based. He studies the anatomy and he gets very interested in death to thus get answers
about the origins of life. After some time, he finds that he is inclined to give life to inanimate objects
and decide to create your own creature from dead matter. This turns out to be not too successful.

The reader will sympathize with the monster and instantly direct ill of mankind dealing with the
monster in such a bad way. The monster is initially kind and has no bad intentions, but because of how
people treat him, he will become angry. The whole village came to his feet, some fled, others attacked
me, until I, badly wounded by stones and other missiles, fled into the open country, and anxiously
sought shelter in a miserable hut that was completely empty and seemed miserable after the palace I
beheld in the village. (Page 103)

Mozart s First Concerto
In seventeen eighty four, Mozart started to work on this beautiful concerto. On the seventh day of
March in seventeen eighty six, around the same time when Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of
Figaro) appeared, he finished the magnificent concerto. The lovely concerto contains many
instruments, including the piano, two clarinets, the flute, two horns, two bassoons, and string
instruments. Heaven only knows for sure where and when the first concerto was performed. However,
on the twelfth day of January in nineteen thirty, George Stewart McManus performed the marvelous
concerto in Los Angeles for the first time. The delightful concerto s duration is no longer than twenty

When the Exposition theme is restated as part of the movement, it is known as the Recapitulation. In
Mozart s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, K. 488, the Recapitulation is when the soloist is
accompanied by the orchestra. There are many similarities between the exposition description and the
recapitulation description. However, there are also quite a few differences. The first theme group in
the exposition lasts from measures one through sixty six, whereas the first theme group in the
recapitulation lasts from measures begins at measure one hundred and ninety eight, and then ends at
two hundred and eighty four. The first theme group of the exposition has a two bar cadential extension
with a sixteen bar double period. Many wonder how the first theme in the recapitulation is derived
from the exposition? That is because there is and exposition version of the variation that has no
extensions. In the Exposition, the transition lasts from measures eighteen through thirty three. In the
Recapitulation, the transition lasts from two hundred and thirteenth measure to the two hundred and
twenty eighth measure. The second theme of the recapitulation is derived from the exposition, because
the second theme of the exposition has a thirty one to forty six bar double period, along with a seven
bar shortened sentence, a three bar interpolation, and closing with a four bar phrase. The second theme
group in the recapitulation lasts from measure one hundred to one hundred and

Kimbell Art Museum
My art tour and review took place at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. I went with my
fiancée to the permanent collection exhibit and walked around viewing the numerous sculptures and
paintings. The permanent collection contains sculptures from both contemporary and ancient times,
icon paintings, portraits and self portraits, and landscapes. Some specific examples include Nude
Combing Her Hair by Pablo Picasso, Portrait of Hendrik III, Count of Nassau Breda by Mabuse (Jan
Gossart), a statue called Woman Addressing the Public by Joan Miro that sits just outside the museum
to welcome people coming to the museum, and a Reliquary Arm (unknown designer from 12th

My first selection is the Rough Sea at a Jetty. The reason I chose this piece is because of the colors and
drawing techniques used, as well as the balance of the overall piece. The piece is a dark hued painting
(oil on canvas) made in the 1650s, depicting a very stormy sea with small sailboats in the background.
The foreground consists of two men standing on a jetty that has a pole like wooden structure standing
on it; the two men appear to be conversing, probably about the storm. The painting is asymmetrical
because if you cut it down the middle vertically then one side would have the wooden pole, most of
the jetty and the two men in it, while the other side would have virtually nothing except some distant
(almost obscure) sailboats, part of the jetty and a distant smaller jetty. The painting is unified by its
theme: A stormy sea by a jetty. The waves are painted so as to show them crashing into one another by
painting the caps white and using bold curves to emphasize the choppiness of the sea. The dark clouds
in the background are a testament to the severity of the storm. The emphasis is on the jetty and men in
the foreground. There are also about four sailboats positioned across the piece in the background to
contrast against the dark grey sky and grey

Griswold vs. Connecticut Essay
Griswold vs. Connecticut
On June 7th 1965, married couples in the State of Connecticut received the right to acquire and benefit
from contraceptive devises. In a majority decision by the United States Supreme Court, seven out of
the nine judges believed that sections 53 32 and 54 196 of the General Statues of Connecticut ,
violated the right of privacy guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment. The case set precedence by
establishing marital (and later constitutional) privacy, and had notable influence on three later
controversial ruling=s in Roe v. Wade (1973), Bowers v. Hardwick (1986) and Planned Parenthood of
S.E. Pennsylvania v. Casey (1992) . The issue at hand was, and is still, one that still causes debate,

(54 196) Any person who assists, abets, counsels, causes, hires or commands another to commit any
offense may be prosecuted and punished as if were the principal offender.
Griswold and Buxton opened the clinic in 1961, in New Haven Connecticut, and were shut down ten
days later and fined one hundred dollars each. They appealed their convictions, stating that the law
violated the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Essentially, the clinic operated as a
medical advice center, where married persons could get counciling, advice, and instruction on
contraception devises. For their advice they charged patients according to their ability to pay.
There was, however, a question to wether Griswold could assert the rights of married couples. But the
Supreme Court ruled that she did because under the terms of the statute she could be convicted for
offering her services to them and because her relationship with the married couples was a professional
one. ACertainly the accessory should have standing to assert that the offense which he is charged with
assisting is not, or cannot constitutionally be a crime.@
This was significant because there had been two earlier challanges to the law, but the Court refused to
hear them on grounds that it was not clear if they could be prosecuted (1943, 1961).
Nevertheless, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Griswold, and her claim that the state contraceptive
law was unconstitutional.

Autism Spectrum Disorder
Statistical evidences. ASD s gender proportion suggests that the autism is sex linked, and the statistical
evidence convincingly shows that genetic factors are playing key role in the prevalence of ASD. To
begin with, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) published the relationship between the number of autistic boys and girls. The
statistical evidence shows that boys are more inclined to become autistic than girls. CDC states that 1
in 42 boys and 1 in 189 girls were identified as having ASD. This observation shows that ASD is
likely a sex linked inheritance. Sex liked inheritance is defined as a pattern of inheritance
characteristic of genes located on the sex chromosomes of organisms having a chromosomal
mechanism for sex determination (Sadava et al., 2014). If the ASD was sex linked inheritance, the
ratio between male and female exhibiting the phenotype would result in 3 to 1 under the normal curve.
The ratio between boy and girl is approximately 5 to 1, which shows that there is a strong association
between sex linked inheritance and ASD. For this reason, it is reasonable to conclude that ASD is
primarily influenced by the genetic factor, which is prenatal. On the other hand, some behavioral
psychiatrists would argue that the conclusion is inaccurately determined, since the genetic mutation
would not occur within a decade. As indicated in Appendix C: Table 1, the rate at which the number of
ASD children increase

Cleveland Clinic Rotations
During February, I had a rotation in Cleveland Clinic infusion center. The rotation should be focused
on the ambulatory care. However, my preceptor gave me an opportunity to have a leadership rotation,
so I had a leadership rotation. My preceptor, Eileen Hendrickson was the director of home care
pharmacy in Cleveland Clinic. She was so excited to have me as a leadership rotation.
My preceptor wanted me to participate many different meetings with a different group of people. The
leader should have the ability to work with different group of people. I went to the finance meetings,

healthcare professionals, and etc.

based on the lab under the consent. One of the medications was antibiotics, especially vancomycin.
The center tried to expand the existed service to home care setting. Therefore, my preceptor and I
were talking with the person in the legislative field. Overall, I really enjoyed the rotation in the
Cleveland Clinic home care. This month rotation was different than other rotations. So, I had some
difficulties to understand the leadership position. Fortunately, my preceptor was a good female leader
and became a good mentor to me. So, I asked many questions related to the leadership, and she
answered me thoughtfully. In order to be a good leader, I still had to work on many things. First, I
needed to have a good understanding of the site where I worked. Since the rotation was only one
month, I could not fully understand how the site worked. Also, I should develop communication skills.
And, I had to develop my time management skill to handle different projects at once. My preceptor
had so many projects at one time, so I learned how she handled many projects and how she prioritized
them to meet the deadline. I hoped this rotation helped my leadership to move one step

As previously mentioned, McMurtry does not really take a side in any of the massacres. In each
account the reader is presented with historically accurate information of what went down, although he
does sometimes slip a stray opinion in; however, this is to be expected in a book where the author is
focusing on the cruelty of humans towards each other. McMurtry explains that it was not just a one
sided battle with Settlers attacking the Native Americans; both groups had their share of bouts against
each other, and they both constantly tried to preemptively strike. It is made evident through some of
the author s comments that although a lot of the Native Americans were able to get along peacefully
together for years and that the majority of tribes were peaceful (with the exception of a few, of
course), the white man invading their sacred land, destroying everything in their path, and raping and
killing their women and children was an infuriating blow to nearly every tribe on the land; I think this
would set just about anyone off. In addition, none of the group is ready to appreciate the other one, or
even consider a truce; instead, they focus more on what will only bring chaos among

I worked in the Technical department, Customer Service Unit (CSU) and Software department. I was
in both the Technical and Customer Service department at the same time but basically in CSU full
time and Technical part time, then I moved to the Software department later on.
The Technical department is the department that deals with networking through both software and
hardware. This is the department that deals with WIMAX and VSAT internet services. They have field
engineers and dispatch drivers which are sent out to a client s sites to install/ troubleshoot their
network. The Customer Service Unit/department is the department in charge of monitoring the client s
internet link/network and also the unit that handles the clients information/data. This department
notices if there is a problem with a link then escalates it to the engineers in the Technical department,
then they visit the site and work on the internet link. The software department is the department in
charge of providing software solutions which are strategically tailored to meet an organisation s goals
and requirements like Eduportal/school portal solutions.

Statement of Purpose
Your time is limited, so don t waste it living someone else s life. Steve Jobs
We have been gifted with only one life. It would be frivolous if we are not making the most out of it,
not doing the things that make us happy, not making it count. Life gives us an opportunity to realize
our dreams and fulfill the purpose of our existence. Right from Charles Babbage to Larry Page, there
have been sizable contributions made to the world via computer science. Had these greats given up on
their dreams, the world we live in today would not be the same. Imagine the world without computers.
One can only dread! Today, I stand on the cusp of living my dream the dream of giving back to the

British Abolition Movement
The debate around British abolition movement centers on how what could possibly motivate an
empire, with one of the largest slave economies in the world, to end an institution they had heavily
relied on for centuries in the span of fifty years. This question has plagued historians for nearly two
hundred years, as they attempt to identify what caused public opinion to shift from a view of
indifference towards slavery to a massive, full fledged push for abolition. Despite the debate capturing
the interests of scholars across a wide range of specialties, the conversation seems to focus on three
major elements and the extent to which they led to the success of the abolition movement. The first,
humanitarianism, focuses on the influence of religious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through his analysis of the slave economy in the British West Indies, Williams steered the
conversation towards capitalism rather than an idealized focus on evangelical leaders. He devotes the
first section of the book to providing an outline of the economic situation of these slave holding
British colonies. During which, Williams places a heavy emphasis on the significance mercantilism,
which focuses on accumulating wealth through exportation, played in creating the prosperous
plantation systems. He then turns to his principal argument. In the decades prior to abolition in 1807,
the British slave colonies in the West Indies proved to be unprofitable. Thus, abolition occurred not
because of humanitarian, or religious reasons, but instead, out of British economic self interest.
Williams revolutionary thesis, which was later coined the Decline Thesis, was responsible for placing
the emphasis on the economy, and identifying the study of capital as vital to the understanding of this
era of British

The Aim Of Art. Artists All Over The World Explore Different

Artists all over the world explore different concepts though their art. The environment is increasingly

inward significance. For example, in his piece JACARANDA WITH GINGER AND LILIES (oil on

The Australian jacaranda tree was painted in 2014, it was appealing as it was fluorescently decorated
and had a dreamlike atmosphere; this was combined with the other plants and flowers in the artwork
so that there it was intensely saturated in pigment, showing his backyard is his heaven. Robinson

The Holocaust s Night By Elie Wiesel
It caused a lack of trust. It separated friends. It brought families closer. The Holocaust forced family
members to hold on to each other and trust each other. In 1933, the Jewish population of Europe stood
at over nine million [...] By 1945, the Germans and their collaborators killed nearly two out of every
three European Jews as part of the Final Solution, the Nazi policy to murder the Jews of Europe
(Introduction to the Holocaust). Night is a memoir written by Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor. Elie
Wiesel s Night describes that father and son relationships, and loyalty changes through acts of
inhumanity.
Elie Wiesel did not feel very connected to his father in the beginning of the memoir. In 1941, at the
age of thirteen, Elie Wiesel was immensely religious and studied Talmud every day. He asked his
father if he could find someone who would mentor him in his studies of Kabbalah. Elie s father
responded to him by saying, You are too young for that. Maimonides tells us that one must be thirty
before venturing into the world of mysticism, a world fraught with peril. First you must study the
basic subjects, those you are able to comprehend (Wiesel 4). Elie wanted to be a Kabbalist, but his
father did not even want him to study Kabbalah. Elie s father thought, according to Maimonides, that
he was too young to learn about Kabbalah and disapproved of his choice to study Talmud. Elie s father
was not very caring, even towards his own family. He is described as:

The Empty Tomb
Between how the empty tomb was discovered, who discovered it, who told the discoverers where
Jesus had gone, there were many differences in these stories details pertaining to this. Another vast
difference came in the reactions to what the storytellers told the disciples and who Jesus appeared to in
regards to getting others to believe what has happened. Matthew 27, the crucifixion was one that is
very familiar to many Christians; this story doesn t often stray from its basis. The one new thing I did
learn was that two rebels were executed with Him and even they cursed Jesus name at the time. One
of my favorite differences between Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were when the message of Jesus
resurrection was told to people. Between the angel, the young man with a white robe, two men in
gleaming robes, or Jesus himself, the stories all came from a different perspective but for the most part
were very similar and that specifically was interesting to research. The angel said to the women, Do
not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has

The Night Of The Lake
The ride across the lake was everything Rose had imagined and more. She even thought she might
have seen the giant squid poke up out of the water. She tried to point it out to Albus, but it had
disappeared when he looked over.
They finally pulled up to the shore and began following Hagrid up the grounds to the castle. It was so
much bigger than she had imagined.
It s so big, Albus said in awe.
I was just thinking the same thing, Rose replied.
The students sidled up to the entrance. The doors opened and Hagrid shepherded the student into the
Hall.
Professor Longbottom will be with you in a moment to explain what will happen next. If any of you
ever need someone to talk to or a cup o tea, you can always come find me, Hagrid said looking
directly at Rose and Albus.
Just then, Uncle Neville (no wait, Professor Longbottom, Rose had to get used to calling him that)
came down the big flight of stairs.
Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! I am Professor Longbottom, Head of
Gryffindor House! I know some of you and I can t wait to get to know the rest of you in due time. In
just a moment, you will enter the Great Hall and we will begin the Sorting ceremony. You will be
placed into one of the four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. As I was told my
first year at Hogwarts, your house will be like your family. You can earn points for your house by
being good students and good people. You can also lose points from your house if you

Modern Day Revelation Research Paper
Revelation is of the basis of our church and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Without
revelation, the gospel would have never been restored to this earth. Through revelation,
especially in this modern day, the prophet Joseph Smith was able to restore the fullness of the
gospel. Heavenly Father has made it possible for us all to receive revelation and has given us all
of the tools to do so in these days. Understanding how and why we receive revelation and the
importance of modern day revelation helps us to see how much God truly loves us.
In the Bible Dictionary, revelation is described as being translated from a Greek word
apocalypse, whose meaning is to make known or uncover (p. 716). We, as members of The
Church of Jesus Christ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the
purpose of the Holy Ghost as a spiritual companion to lead us to do good. Section 45 of the
Doctrine and Covenants is a revelation given through Joseph Smith during a time when false
stories and reports were being circulated about the community, preventing people from
investigating the gospel. In verse 57 of this section the Lord reveals to Joseph, For they that are

wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not
been deceived verily I say unto you, they shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but
shall abide the day. It is only wise for us to listen to the Holy Spirit, for it will direct us all
towards the right way.
The Holy Ghost is the way in which we can receive revelation; however, personal
revelations may come in several different ways. For example, they may be conveyed in dreams,
visions or inspiration. President Boyd K. Packer stated, Inspiration comes more as a feeling
than as a sound (p. 20). We must be in tune with our feelings in order to sense the answers

The nature of modern medical services requires nursing leadership professionals who can establish
and maintain an efficient atmosphere for the health care delivery. The position of a nurse administrator

The Death Of A Costumed Adventurer
The death of a costumed adventurer often leads audiences to contemplate the significance of it. It is a
prevalent issue in which these characters appear to sacrifice their lives for the possibility of a greater
good. In Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons Watchmen, masked hero are subjected towards death due to
their actions and the actions of others. Whether it is the actions of a friend, stranger, or foe, the
untimely deaths of Rorschach, Nite Owl I, and The Comedian proves a costumed adventurer s death
leads to the loss of humanity. Walter Joseph Kovacs, or more commonly known as Rorschach, is a
costumed vigilante whose death plays a significant role in Watchmen. Rorschach is depicted as a
disturbed man who believes there is always a right and wrong, even if it means breaking the law to
bring a higher justice in the world. His belief deems prevalent by defying the Keene Act of 1977,
which outlawed any type of vigilantism by costumed adventurers, except for those who worked
exclusively under the United States government like Dr. Manhattan and The Comedian. By breaking
down the components of Rorschach s mask, there will be a deeper understanding of what the
mysterious Rorschach represents in Watchmen. Rorschach s viewpoint of the world is often
interpreted through his mask, which is black and white... [and is constantly] changing shape...but not
mixing...[with] no gray [areas] (Gibbons, Moore 188). It was made of two layers of latex with viscous

Disadvantages Of 2 User Interface
2 User Interface
User Interface is a function of the operating system that allows individuals to access and command the
computer. It is the junction between a user and a computer program. Task of the users are changing
rapidly and even functionality of computer becomes more complex according to it user must adjust
their behavior and problem solving strategies to the system. This situation becomes worst as user do
not have that proper experience and knowledge [5], [6].
A well designed interface can provide much more helpful information in a more appropriate manner
through interaction specially for those user who have lack of knowledge. Therefore user interface is

Menu Driven Interface (MDI) This type of interface lets you interact with a computer or device
through a series of screens or menus. Menu is presented, make a choice and then the next menu
appears on the screen. Then make another choice and so on. Example: Cash point machines (ATMs)
and iPod or mobile phone, they both use a menu driven interface [7].
ˆ Advantages of MDI
{ There are no commands to learn or remember.
{ Each and every step are given so that the user doesn t have to re member anything.
{ Even if don t know what to do, can usually guess way around the options. { Menu interfaces don t
have to be visual, they can be spoken good for telephones or for visually impaired people.
{ They don t need huge amounts of processing power or memory.
ˆ Disadvantages of MDI
{ A poorly designed menu interface may be slow to use.
{ It can be irritating if there are too many menu screens to work through. { If often can t go to the
exact place then want right at the start. Then have to work own way through the menu screens even if
know where then want to get to.

Crown Of Thorns Starfish Essay
The Crown of Thorns Starfish robot (COTSbot) developed by the Queensland University of
Technology will kill the crown of thorns starfish (COTS) which is responsible for destroying about
50% of Australia s Great Barrier Reef, Discovery News reports. COTSbot, which operates
autonomously, recently performed well on trial test and its creators plan to deploy it in December.
Until then, the robot needs to be tested on the reef. HOW IT DETECTS THE PREY In an interview
with the BBC, COTSbot researcher Matthew Dunbabin explained how the robot operates, and how it
detects starfish. The core of the detection is a state of the art computer vision and machine learning
system, Dunbabin said. This system has been trained to recognise COTS [crown of thorns ... Show

One of the chief tasks of programming the robot was giving it the ability to identify COTS as separate
from other sea life and strike it accordingly. During a single session at sea, the COTSbot can give out
200 of the poisonous injections. Its starfish killing capability has led the AAU to call it a mechanical
hitman . In an interview with the Australian news agency, Dunbabin said It will never out compete a
human diver in terms of sheer numbers of injections but it will be more persistent . WHY THE
ROBOT WAS MADE Overpopulation by any species can have negative effects on any ecosystem, and
an explosion in the starfish population led to the species eating away at the Great Barrier Reef. And as
the COTSbot s university website says, the movement of nutrients to sea from land in the area since
the 1960s has accelerated outbreaks of COTS to the detriment of the reef. According to Popular
Science, Dunbabin began work on COTSbot ten years ago. Back then, however, the best usable poison
known to them required 20 injections to kill a single starfish. Since then, they ve discovered that using
bile (which the robot currently uses) injections is a much more efficient method of killing them.

Cheating And Cheating By Joe Posnanski Summary
In Cheating and CHEATING by Joe Posnanski in response to an article written by Pete Hamill he
argues that baseball has never been an innocent game even since its conception. The main focus is on
one the most decorated baseball players in our history named Willie Mays. Posnanski uses a quote in
his article from Pete Hamill stating that the only drug from that time of baseball (mid 1900s) was joy
and says I didn t know joy was another word for amphetamines . Posnanski states further on that one
of Mays teammates when interviewed says he saw a red colored drink in Mays locker he referred to as
greenies. So if drugs were okay then when taken by Mays among other players then why are we so
outraged now when we find out a player has been taking steroids? So what if Mays had a drink of red
juice in his locker before games, was comfortable with doing whatever it ... Show more content on

Let s say you re about to start a football game and while passing the opposing football team earlier
you happened to hear their game plan so, now would you take advantage of knowing their game plan
or just pretend you didn t hear anything? If you would take advantage of that knowledge then why
wouldn t you take performance enhancing drugs too they are both cheating. So when it really boils
down to it we are a society of cheaters. As a nation, we worship one thing even more than God and
country. We revere winners and turn a blind eye to those who are winning. Our society is so focused
on results that we are training our children to become results machines and that we should use any
means necessary to achieve the highest results even if those results are created by cheating. No matter
the sport there is someone cheating and no sport is truly innocent. The problem with baseball now is
that it has given up on hiding the fact that cheating is happening and has started to become an accepted
factor in the beloved

A Pro Versus Con Argumentative Article Essay
In America we currently have tax placed on our gas. However, with new changes in the automotive
industry, there have been ideas of changing the tax to a tax based on miles travelled rather than gas.
Mr. Earl Blumenauer and Mr. Phil Byrd both expressed their strong views on the topic in a pro versus
con argumentative article. Blumenauer and Byrd both built up their credibility by using strong
sources, including facts and statistics, and appealing to the readers emotions; however towards the end
of the article both sides had a slight flaw which weakened their credibility.
When analyzing both viewpoints of the topic, the credibility of the sources and appeals to ethos in the
article are very important. The pro side of the article was written by Earl Blumenauer, a sponsor for
the Road Usage Fee Pilot Program Act. After looking further into his profession, he works as a
congressman for Oregon. Since he is only a sponsor for the program, there are unanswered questions
as to if he is knowledgeable enough on the subject of these types of taxes. After further reading you
learn that he actually used his job as a representative to introduce the Pilot Programming Act to
congress. The program is taking place in Oregon, where they are beginning projects in hope of
switching over to a tax on miles travelled rather than gas. Whereas, the con side was written by Phil
Byrd, the chairman for the American Trucking Association and the president of Bulldog Hiway
Express. He seems like the more

Today s Americ What Defines A Model Leader
What truly defines a model leader? Is it something that showed exceptional courage in a time others
hid away? Or is it someone who consistently leads time after time, no matter the circumstances? These
are interesting questions that if the idea of leader exists these questions will always be asked. There is
a popular quote from the movie Sandlot said by Babe Ruth Heroes get remembered, legends never die
(Ruth). The prior quote can be switched around to show the importance of leaders and that is Bosses
get remembered, leaders never die. This quote is evident in the leader that I selected, seeing the impact
they made two hundred plus years ago, that is still seen every day we wake up. In today s American,
we are a country divided for many reasons including: racial, political, taxes, and many more reasons.
Flashback two hundred years ago and we were a divided America because of the same issues that
divide us today. Out of this turmoil came a group of leaders known today as the Founding Fathers.
Together these men took on a brave mission to leave the tyranny of Great Britain, ... Show more

Braddock and his men were ordered to take Fort Duquesne and along the way were involved in the
Battle of the Monongahela. This was a decisive victory for the French, but Washington would show
his leadership. In most cases of war, when the tides of battle change, a retreat is carried out. This battle
was no different, however, the retreat was carried out in pure chaos. Washington would take control of
this situation and rally the troops into an organized retreat. As Mount Vernon discusses in his

his coat. Although he behaved with conspicuous bravery, Washington could do little except lead the
broken survivors to safety (Mount Vernon), with this, Washington became a

Politicians Need to Listen to the People and Legalized...
While the majority of American citizens believe that the drug policies in this country need to be
changed, the politicians of America refuse to recognize the necessity for change. The war on drugs has
clearly been lost and while Americans are for the most part ready to admit this defeat, their elected
leaders are unfortunately unwilling to do so. This difference of opinions, more so than with any other
political issue, marks politician s greatest inconsistency with the desires of the people. The technology
being analyzed here is the laws humans, particularly American politicians, have created that make the
possession and use of marijuana illegal. These laws are in many ways quite detrimental to society and
the objective of this paper is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this system, a Schedule 1 drug has a high potential for abuse, no currently accepted medical use in
treatment in the United States, and lacks accepted safety for use under medical supervision. Despite
the potentially positive effects that marijuana can have on terminally ill patients, the drug has been
placed under this Schedule 1 classification. Also placed under Schedule 1 are some of the most
dangerous drugs on the streets.
The placement of marijuana among the other drugs as Schedule 1 is absolutely outrageous because
there is no evidence that labels marijuana as having any of the described qualities. This inappropriate
classification is a perfect example of the lack of understanding the government has of the potentially
useful drug. This ignorance, paired with the stubborn ways of the majority of America s politicians,
leads to the absence of progress within the country s drug policies.
The effects the laws have on America s economy and prisons are other detrimental aspects of the laws
prohibiting marijuana possession and use. Not only does enforcing marijuana prohibition cost
taxpayers an estimated $10 billion annually, it also results in the arrest of more than 734,000
individuals every year. This figure is much greater than the total number arrested for all violent crimes
combined, including: murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. This

  • 2. L Oreal Company Analysis One of the biggest names in the make up industry is L Oreal. L Oreal runs a massive worldwide operation employing nearly 62,000 men and women of various races, backgrounds and religions across nearly 60 countries. Part of the reason for the corporation s success has been its sensitivity not only to its consumers but also to each and every one of its employees. The corporation has made sure that all their employees have opportunities to develop themselves both personally and professionally. This commitment by the corporation to take care of their own employees has resulted in L Oreal being rated by the European business school students as The Employer of Choice for the year 2006 (L Oreal Corporation, n.d.). With over a century of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, there are also other notable weaknesses applicable to L Oreal. Another weakness point is the existence of false claims in advertising. In May of 2007, L Oreal was ordered by the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia to retract their claims on the wrinkle removing capabilities of their products (Anti Aging Wrinkle Creams are a Rip Off). Opportunities One of the areas of opportunity for L Oreal is its increased supply of ecologically and environmentally friendly ingredients. L Oreal can increase their supply of ecologically and environmentally friendly ingredients by furthering their Sustainability Assessment Framework and working even more closely with current and new suppliers to address predetermined concerns (L Oreal Corporation, n.d.). Another point of opportunity for the company is to increase its sales of its Active Cosmetics product line. For 2006 alone, The Active Cosmetics product line of L Oreal made up 7.5% in total revenue for the corporation. L Oreal has recognized the growth in demand for active cosmetics, that is why the corporation has been acquiring companies in the active cosmetics line. By increasing their marketing and product line up for active cosmetics, L Oreal can reach a wider range of consumers (L Oreal Corporation, n.d.). A third area of opportunity for L Oreal is that it could work on purchasing of more successful cosmetics companies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Peacocke s essay provides an example of Graff s argument because she provides a remarkable piece of literature talking about the pros and cons of her favorite show Family Guy. I really enjoyed how Peacocke used examples from very comical moments in Family Guy like the Business instructional video in the 1950s that had some sexism on how to treat women in the workplace. She showed the negative impacts of the show like the protests of parents, but it was brought back two times after fans pressured Fox into reopening the show. Details like a shimmering reflection off a window, or how realistic water in a lake looks often goes unnoticed by the players, but it makes the game environment look that much more impressive. 3 D objects are created by using polygons, which are just like blank sheets of paper that are used to make creative ideas that come together. Consoles and computers use a special chip that allows images to be applied on to the polygon. Then this allows a 3 D environment to be created and interacted with the characters. The game is then coded and the testing phase begins. Coding is what puts all the gaming elements together to work as one. Games are written based on C programming to generate the codes for the polygons to make the environment with the shadows and textures. After the coding is complete, the testing phase begins by selecting a group of people interested in the game to find bugs or problems in the games. The alpha version is the first version released to fix the major flaws and the beta version is tested until the developers release the final version. • 5. The Mountains Of Central Appalachia Trent Brown Professor Lautenshlager English 2614 30 November 2014 The mountains of central Appalachia have always been known for, almost exclusively, the booming coal deposits that inhabit it, as well as the controversy that comes with the industry. The controversy that involves the wildlife, ecosystems, and residents of the area is one with fine lines, gray areas, and more than simply a good and evil side. The mountains of Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee are also home to some of the most extensive biodiversity in our country, as well as rich cultural heritage that extends to the earliest years of our nation. Everything that makes central Appalachia unique and identifiable is exactly what they might be in jeopardy of losing. Surface mining began to replace traditional underground mining around WWII (Bozzi 116). Rather than digging into the mountain to extract the coal, strip mining involves removing the overlying soil and rock that covers the coal deposits (Lutz 1). It seemed appealing at first because the previous known dangers of black lung disease and cave ins were now limited with the surface mining method (Bozzi 116). However, surface mining came with it s own problems, a lot of them being more serious and irreversible than underground mining (Allen 182). This method of surface mining was the spark that created the trend of mountaintop removal (Bozzi 117). Mountaintop removal is the complete destruction of the mountain peak in order to reach coal ... Diana Nyad Research Paper Diana Nyad is well known for swimming from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage; her experience can teach others to see the world and themselves in a whole new perspective. Although she accomplished her goal, it took Nyad a total of five attempts in order to successfully swim from Cuba to Florida. Her fifth and final attempt to make this journey took her approximately fifty three hours. The distance was over 110 miles, which broke the world record for the distance swam without the protection of a shark cage. Even though Nyad went through hard times during her expedition, she never gave up on herself. Her experience plays a large role in not only how people see the world, but the way they see themselves too. The hard times that Nyad encountered during the swim only made her stronger. She experienced severe cold temperatures, which could have lead to hypothermia very quickly. As she was swimming down the Florida Straits, she began to vomit because of the large ... That s success (Viti). Nyad is beyond proud of her accomplishment of swimming from Cuba to Florida, however she mentions that in some way, everything is a team effort. • 7. My Favorite Waste Of Time Bishop Asaiah took us places at times. One of my favorite places to go was to the public pool in the valley. On Saturdays, we would go to the park with the swimming to the Public Pool. But there is one day that stands out in my mind about the creativity of my friend Terry. Our Park Story! During the summer months on Saturday mornings, some of us kids would go to the public swimming pool. I was 12 years old and enjoyed cooling off and splashing in the water. I always wanted to swim in the pool longer than my friends. I was the dark girl (half black), and everyone else was white except my brother. They used to frustrate me to no end because they didn t want to swim the entire time. They wanted to lay out with their towels and lay on the cement and get tans. My thinking was A tan is an annoying waste of time if you are born with a perfect color of skin. They would smile and tell me how lucky I was to be a bit darker, then roll over to make sure their tan would be even. I did not want to go in the pool by myself. One summer afternoon, though, it was just my friend Terry and me. We had gone swimming at the pool, and then we dressed back into shirts and shorts. We walked to the park to find something to do waiting for our ride back home. We decided to play catch. Of course, we did not have a ball. I do not even remember balls at the Fountain. But with Terry s creativity, we played catch without something to throw. So we stood in the green ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is not a specific time that is considered normal for any individual child to attain a goal, as cultural and environmental factors are also important to development, but researchers have formed general, broad ranges of time in which skills such as walking and talking are displayed. Gender Roles In Memoirs Of A Geisha During the early 1900s, society has given men and women roles they are expected to follow, with men being the provider and money makers, and women having to look after the house and children. In Japanese societies, women are sold away as geishas and prostitutes, while men work in factories and big companies. Women are treated as inferior to men, as men have a clear cut dominance over them. This is something they must understand, and were expected to follow the rules and restrictions that come with it. One of the characters in the novel, the Chairman, is the founder of a company called Iwamura Electric, which is one of the bigger electric companies in Japan. Before going on to establish his own company, he works at a small electric corporation where he comes up with the idea to allow the use of two lightbulbs in a socket built for only one, however, the manager does not think it s a good design. This is revealed when the narrator says the director of the of the company wouldn t build it, and so at the age of twenty two, shortly after marrying, the Chairman left to establish his own company (Golden 210). This reveals that men have the free will to leave a job if they wish, and are given the opportunity to follow their passion without having to be held back to one profession. However, women are not given this opportunity, as they are sold away without having the choice to leave or do something else with their lives. The women grow up to become geishas, and if they aren t beautiful enough, they are sent into prostitution. Once a woman becomes a geisha, they have no choice but to continue living this way, as the only other choices they have is to become a prostitute, maid, or unemployed. This is evident when one of the geishas says we don t become geisha so our lives will be satisfying. We become geisha because we have no other choice (Golden 294). Very few outside the vocal cadre of outspoken abolitionists were concerned with the plight of those of African descent. On the social side, no one in the north, forget the south, wanted an influx of uneducated, homeless, angry former slaves with no income, no means of support and no marketable job skills into their neighborhoods. Lincoln himself wanted to settle freed slaves in colonies to be established for the purpose in uninhabited areas of Texas and Missouri, on Caribbean islands or in Indian Territory. These Games first came into existence in ancient Greece during the year 776 BC. According to an article published by the Penn Museum, The ancient Olympic Games were primarily a part of a religious festival in honor of Zeus, the father of the Greek gods and goddesses. Though the Games died out around 400 AD, the idea remained. Then, in 1896, the first modern day Olympics took place in their place of origin Olympia, Greece with 34 participating countries. From there, they continued to grow in size until they became the massive global event that they are today (The ancient Olympic games, 2017). Even though few people know much about Zeus, and even fewer people care, it is thanks to him and the rest of the Greek gods and goddesses that the world can come together every four years and honor the the best of the best. In the Recapitulation, the transition lasts from two hundred and thirteenth measure to the two hundred and twenty eighth measure. The reason I chose this piece is because of the colors and drawing techniques used, as well as the balance of the overall piece. The piece is a dark hued painting (oil on canvas) made in the 1650s, depicting a very stormy sea with small sailboats in the background. The foreground consists of two men standing on a jetty that has a pole like wooden structure standing on it; the two men appear to be conversing, probably about the storm. The painting is asymmetrical because if you cut it down the middle vertically then one side would have the wooden pole, most of the jetty and the two men in it, while the other side would have virtually nothing except some distant (almost obscure) sailboats, part of the jetty and a distant smaller jetty. The painting is unified by its theme: A stormy sea by a jetty. The waves are painted so as to show them crashing into one another by painting the caps white and using bold curves to emphasize the choppiness of the sea. The dark clouds in the background are a testament to the severity of the storm. The emphasis is on the jetty and men in the foreground. In a majority decision by the United States Supreme Court, seven out of the nine judges believed that sections 53 32 and 54 196 of the General Statues of Connecticut , violated the right of privacy guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment. The case set precedence by establishing marital (and later constitutional) privacy, and had notable influence on three later controversial ruling=s in Roe v. Wade (1973), Bowers v. Griswold and Buxton opened the clinic in 1961, in New Haven Connecticut, and were shut down ten days later and fined one hundred dollars each. They appealed their convictions, stating that the law violated the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Essentially, the clinic operated as a medical advice center, where married persons could get counciling, advice, and instruction on contraception devises. For their advice they charged patients according to their ability to pay. There was, however, a question to wether Griswold could assert the rights of married couples. But the Supreme Court ruled that she did because under the terms of the statute she could be convicted for offering her services to them and because her relationship with the married couples was a professional one. ACertainly the accessory should have standing to assert that the offense which he is charged with assisting is not, or cannot constitutionally be a crime.@ This was significant because there had been two earlier challanges to the law, but the Court refused to hear them on grounds that it was not clear if they could be prosecuted (1943, 1961). Nevertheless, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Griswold, and her claim that the state contraceptive law was unconstitutional. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Autism Spectrum Disorder Statistical evidences. ASD s gender proportion suggests that the autism is sex linked, and the statistical evidence convincingly shows that genetic factors are playing key role in the prevalence of ASD. To begin with, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published the relationship between the number of autistic boys and girls. The statistical evidence shows that boys are more inclined to become autistic than girls. CDC states that 1 in 42 boys and 1 in 189 girls were identified as having ASD. This observation shows that ASD is likely a sex linked inheritance. Sex liked inheritance is defined as a pattern of inheritance characteristic of genes located on the sex chromosomes of organisms having a chromosomal mechanism for sex determination (Sadava et al., 2014). If the ASD was sex linked inheritance, the ratio between male and female exhibiting the phenotype would result in 3 to 1 under the normal curve. The ratio between boy and girl is approximately 5 to 1, which shows that there is a strong association between sex linked inheritance and ASD. For this reason, it is reasonable to conclude that ASD is primarily influenced by the genetic factor, which is prenatal. On the other hand, some behavioral psychiatrists would argue that the conclusion is inaccurately determined, since the genetic mutation would not occur within a decade. As indicated in Appendix C: Table 1, the rate at which the number of ASD children increase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1936, when the Franco Soviet Treaty of Mutual Assistance was signed by France and Russia, Germany argued that it was under threat from both sides and that is was required that soldiers be stationed in the Rhineland to prevent Germany fighting a two front war. France was not strong enough and Britain was not financially prepared for another war. Many British and French politicians thought that because the Rhineland was a part of Germany, it was okay that part of the German Armed Forced be stationed there. When Neville Chamberlain became the British Prime Minister, he felt that the Treaty of Versailles was unfair, and treated Germany too harshly, when Chamberlain became the Prime Minister, he soon gave in to Hitler s demands (otherwise known as Appeasement) to prevent further war. To make matters worse, Britain, France, Italy and Germany signed the Munich Agreement, which allowed Germany to keep Sudetenland under the terms that Germany would stop its hostile expansion attempts. However, at the Munich Agreement, the Czech government was not present and did not agree with the loss of Sudetenland. Czechoslovakia felt that Britain and France betrayed them but also saw this as a way to prevent war and the invasion of the whole of Czechoslovakia. • 38. South Cobb High School Analysis An interesting task I was given this week was breaking up a fight between two students. As a student at South Cobb High School, I have seen my fair share of fights; however, I have never participated in breaking up a fight before until now. I saw two students pushing and shoving each other violently and I sprung into action. I ran to the two boys and raised my voice and quickly separated the two. This was interesting because it was my first experience doing that. Another interesting task I was given was helping one of my autistic students fine a group during physical education. The Empty Tomb Between how the empty tomb was discovered, who discovered it, who told the discoverers where Jesus had gone, there were many differences in these stories details pertaining to this. Another vast difference came in the reactions to what the storytellers told the disciples and who Jesus appeared to in regards to getting others to believe what has happened. Matthew 27, the crucifixion was one that is very familiar to many Christians; this story doesn t often stray from its basis. The one new thing I did learn was that two rebels were executed with Him and even they cursed Jesus name at the time. One of my favorite differences between Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were when the message of Jesus resurrection was told to people. Between the angel, the young man with a white robe, two men in gleaming robes, or Jesus himself, the stories all came from a different perspective but for the most part were very similar and that specifically was interesting to research. The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.... In this encounter, Mary and Mary Magdalene both approached the tomb but was confronted by this angel on the closed tomb who told them the fate of Jesus. In their quest to inform the disciples of this great news they met with the presence of Jesus who told them not to be afraid and to tell his brothers to go to Galilee and ... Crown Of Thorns Starfish Essay The Crown of Thorns Starfish robot (COTSbot) developed by the Queensland University of Technology will kill the crown of thorns starfish (COTS) which is responsible for destroying about 50% of Australia s Great Barrier Reef, Discovery News reports. COTSbot, which operates autonomously, recently performed well on trial test and its creators plan to deploy it in December. Until then, the robot needs to be tested on the reef. HOW IT DETECTS THE PREY In an interview with the BBC, COTSbot researcher Matthew Dunbabin explained how the robot operates, and how it detects starfish. During a single session at sea, the COTSbot can give out 200 of the poisonous injections. Its starfish killing capability has led the AAU to call it a mechanical hitman . In an interview with the Australian news agency, Dunbabin said It will never out compete a human diver in terms of sheer numbers of injections but it will be more persistent . WHY THE ROBOT WAS MADE Overpopulation by any species can have negative effects on any ecosystem, and an explosion in the starfish population led to the species eating away at the Great Barrier Reef. And as the COTSbot s university website says, the movement of nutrients to sea from land in the area since the 1960s has accelerated outbreaks of COTS to the detriment of the reef. According to Popular Science, Dunbabin began work on COTSbot ten years ago. Back then, however, the best usable poison known to them required 20 injections to kill a single starfish. Cheating And Cheating By Joe Posnanski Summary In Cheating and CHEATING by Joe Posnanski in response to an article written by Pete Hamill he argues that baseball has never been an innocent game even since its conception. The main focus is on one the most decorated baseball players in our history named Willie Mays. Posnanski uses a quote in his article from Pete Hamill stating that the only drug from that time of baseball (mid 1900s) was joy and says I didn t know joy was another word for amphetamines . Posnanski states further on that one of Mays teammates when interviewed says he saw a red colored drink in Mays locker he referred to as greenies. Mr. Earl Blumenauer and Mr. Phil Byrd both expressed their strong views on the topic in a pro versus con argumentative article. Blumenauer and Byrd both built up their credibility by using strong sources, including facts and statistics, and appealing to the readers emotions; however towards the end of the article both sides had a slight flaw which weakened their credibility. The war on drugs has clearly been lost and while Americans are for the most part ready to admit this defeat, their elected leaders are unfortunately unwilling to do so. This difference of opinions, more so than with any other political issue, marks politician s greatest inconsistency with the desires of the people. Despite the potentially positive effects that marijuana can have on terminally ill patients, the drug has been placed under this Schedule 1 classification. Also placed under Schedule 1 are some of the most dangerous drugs on the streets. The placement of marijuana among the other drugs as Schedule 1 is absolutely outrageous because there is no evidence that labels marijuana as having any of the described qualities.
