How To Clean 250ml Erlenmeyer
For this experiment, student acquired two clean 250 mL Erlenmeyer flasks and 75 mL glass tubes as
well as labeled one tube as Tube #1 the second tube as Tube #2. The student utilized the test tubes as
photosynthesis compartments. Next, student used 225mL of tap water to fill each Erlenmeyer flask
previously attained. Student used 75mL of treatment solution to fill Tube #1 and Tube #2 and placed
both tubes in one of the water filled 250mL Erlenmeyer flasks, the water acted as a control variable
for temperature change throughout the experiment. Student acquired 2 aquatic plants from the front
bench and poured water from the container, which held the plants. It was mandatory for the aquatic

Student crucially maintained the plant stem immersed and inserted the scissors into Tube #1 to cut off
0.5cm in the internode between the leaves of the stem and not where the leaves and stem attach, and
repeated this step for Tube #2. Following, student inserted a rubber stopper in both tubes (including
the attached bent pipette, syringe, and needle) and insured there were no air bubbles in the test tube by
pushing the stopper into each tube. Student also cleaned the expected excess solution that overflowed
from the test tube as the stopper was placed. Student allowed the solution to migrate into the bent
pipette. After full insertion of the stopper, student used the syringe and needle to extract solution from
each tube, setting the amount of solution in the bent pipette to 0 . Student positioned each Erlenmeyer
flask containing the test tubes approximately 15cm in front of the lamp and turned on the lamp.
Student left the plants to equilibrate for 10 minutes and noticed air bubble formation at the cut end of
the stem. Using the syringe and needle, student altered the amount of solution in the pipette back to 0
at the end of the equilibration period and in five minute intervals, timed the gas production and
recorded readings

Personal Statement On Employee Management
Last week I had two shadowing experiences that fell in line with my competencies and two
experiences that did not, but were still extremely important to client management. I worked alongside
the Sales Coordinator Ksenia, the Convention Sales Manager Teagan, the Banquet Manager Luis, and
the Sales Manager Ashley. Last Monday (09/21/15) I had the pleasure of learning the BEO system for
Marriott with the Sales Manager Ashley. Marriott full service hotels do not use Delphi for their BEO s,
instead they use a B.E.O. software specific to Marriott called C.I.T.Y. This is a very difficult software
to operate, and can take months to be completely trained in. Ashley (Sales Manager in charge of BEO
s) who is new to the company and the area was happy to share the knowledge she did know. She didn t
have a full BEO implementation to show me, but she did have a small piece to show me which I found
very interesting. For this specific meeting group, they were have a 3 day meeting that required a
continuous beverage package priced by consumption. C.I.T.Y. is interesting in that it didn t offer an
option to select the continuous beverage package; instead each beverage type had to be selected and
set to price by consumption. Although this was time consuming task, I was able to quickly pick up the
procedure and input the beverage for the last full day of the meeting. This experience lined up
perfectly with my chosen competency Banquet and Catering Sales: Planning Coffee Breaks.

Rightly Detected Truths In Sherwood Anderson s Hands
While investigating one of the largest mysteries known to human civilization, atomic structure, British
chemist John Dalton wrote, It s the right idea, but not the right time (online). Although Dalton was
profoundly incorrect in his analysis of the atom and its structure, his written words regarding the
importance of rightly ordered truths could not be of greater importance for making and sustaining
human connections throughout time. For the duration of human existence, romantic love and dating
has always remained one of the largest hurdles an individual must face in his or her lifetime. Often
considered a pivotal ingredient in any robust affinity between two parties, every relationship must be
rightly ordered; that is to say, the relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An incredibly crucial component of modern love remains having relationships that are rightly ordered
. Unfortunately for Wing Bittlebaum, most of his obsessions were incorrectly ordered. Although
sexual relationships between adults and children are obviously inappropriate for any time period or
location, Bittlebaum s relationship with Willard was incorrectly timed by approximately sixty years.
Despite not necessarily being an allegory for any modern problem in particular, Sherwood Anderson s
Hands provides incredible insight into human need and want, and the drive to fulfill one s desires
while ignoring a rightly ordered life in favor of an incorrect balance. Although many relationships can
flourish without necessarily being ordered perfectly, Wing Bittlebaum s many illegal and unwanted
relationships could never have succeeded due to his lack of understanding and empathy. Although not
considered to be the pinnacle of knowledge regarding poetry, John Dalton s famous expression, It s
the right idea; but not the right time (online) rings true in Sherwood Anderson s short story

Hip Hop Cultural Movement
Hip Hop is both a cultural movement as well as a music genre. Hip hop originated in the
predominantly African American economically depressed South Bronx section of New York City in
the late 1970s. As the hip hop movement began at society s margins, its origins are shrouded in myth,
enigma, and obfuscation. (Alan Light, 2016). In the mid 1980s the next wave of rappers, the new
school, came to prominence. At the forefront was Run D.M.C., a trio of middle class African
Americans who fused rap with hard rock, defined a new style of hip dress, and became staples on
MTV as they brought rap to a mainstream audience. Run D.M.C.

refusal to be incorporated into larger (white) society; and an insistent allegiance to the rules of the

Aviation Fatigue Essay
Ensuring the safety and integrity of the U.S. National airspace system is contingent on ensuring
consistent and reliable performance of the Air Traffic Controllers ultimately charged with the safety
and security of that system. Aviation is a very safety critical industry that is fundamentally reliant on
the people who interact and operate within the system. People are human and subject to fatigue.
Managing the effects of fatigue is a large part of managing people and their performance. In order to
manage fatigue, a working understanding of the risks to performance that fatigue poses must be
attained. Fatigue manifests itself in many ways. Fatigue results in the ability to pay adequate attention.
An inability to pay adequate attention can result in missing essential steps in performing a given task.
In the case of ATC, missed clerical errors can result in an inappropriate routing or altitude assignment
that puts aircraft in close proximity to other aircraft or terrain. Controllers depend on audio and visual
senses to garner the current traffic situation and take action accordingly. A missed word in a ... Show

while other variables are considered secondary. An otherwise normal or ambiguous operating may
develop as imminent because little to no attention was afforded as the result of focusing on another
area of responsibility. This is the case in the Comair crash of 2006. The air traffic controller became
preoccupied with administrative duties and missed the pilot s mistake of choosing the incorrect/
unassigned shorter runway for departure. As a result of the investigation, the controller involved did
not have enough time to accommodate fatigue recovery between shifts and fell victim to an inattention
to the situation and became preoccupied with performing nonoperational

Pros And Cons Of Organ Transplantation
Proposals Assignment
Organ Transplantation is an innovative technology that replace the recipient s damaged or absent
organs by moving organs from one body to another. Transplantation can be performed within the same
person s body or between two subjects either from a living or cadaveric source. Scientists and
historians estimate that in the early 80 BC, Indian doctors began grafting skin to treat burns and other
wounds. In Early 1900s, Modern organs transplants began by European doctors that attempted to save
patients dying of renal failure, he transplanted kidneys from various animals, like monkeys, goats and
pigs. Unfortunately, none of the recipients lived for more than a few days. In 1912, the French surgeon

raised related to the procuration and how to fairly allocated the limited organs. In addition, the
worldwide shortage of organs also caused the trafficking for organ trade. According to the world

amount to about 10,000 a year. Through the black market, the price of an organ may be above
$160,000. The traffickers who organized criminal network are benefited from reselling organs in a

Genre Exposed In The End Of Science Fiction
Through the science fiction genre we are able to see what is wrong with the world. The genre shows
us the truth about what is going on around us. Stories are inspired by the chaos around us. Shedding
light to situations that need to be exposed. The truth lays in between the lines of the stories. The
science fiction stories answer questions about life and how we are living it and where those decisions
we make might lead us to. Examples come from many stories that lead to societies being controlled
and having no freedom to be individuals. Stories are set in futuristic time settings were anything is
possible. Thanks to those ideas, people out in the real world take those fake or impossible things that
are written and turn them into reality. The science fiction genre is a stepping stone for all in life. We as

states that the international system is more accurately described by Samuel Huntington s term uni
multipolarity. (Zakaria 413) The meaning in this is that in coming new world that there will be other
countries that hold significant power with one superpower still remaining. Zakaria remains optimistic
that the United States will still hold the spot as the most powerful country even as other countries rise,
as long as the U.S. can accept the changes of no longer being the only country with power and learn to
compromise with other countries in order to succeed in what he claims to be the post American world.
Zakaria shows concern for America if they are unable to adapt. He states The irony is that the rise of

United States has pushed for other countries to open up to new concepts concerning politics, trade,

own advice. Overall, Zakaria has a realistic ideology of the effect globalization will have on The

issue by ruling that the State of Arkansas could force death row prisoner, Charles Laverne Singleton,

Under The Black Umbrella
Under the Black Umbrella tells the many captivating stories about the 35 years of Japanese occupation
in Korea through both world wars. The memories are all from the perspective of Korean men and
women who lived through some or all of it. Many of their stories and the history during that time are
influenced by several factors, some of which include their location in Korea or surrounding areas and
the government s involvement in recording history. The Japanese were not all awful to the Koreans,
since they were humans all the same, but they committed enough atrocities to have a bad reputation
with the Koreans. In attempts to unify, North Koreans employed nationalism and ethnocentrism to fuel
their way to become a strong nation again. South Koreans did not rally around such extreme ways and
did not utilize their northern brethren s methods of fear for power. Back then and now, globalization is
a part of life and it should not be stifled. Nationalistic thinking will bring about more pain and
suffering rather than just trying to coexist. Korea faced many hardships with the Japanese occupation.
In recovery to their rule, issues arose when it came to accuracy in history, nationalism, ethnocentrism,
and the different roles they all took between the north and the south.
The Japanese colonization was a difficult time for the Koreans due to the oppression and adversity
most of them faced. Albeit not all of them had horrendous experiences, but there is certainly a level of

Shigeru Miyamoto Influence On Society

Tactics to implement the strategy
Kudler needs to find a way to know the business of its supplier or its distributors, so as to reduce cost
and the uncertainty that comes with doing business with them. In doing so, they stand a better of
surviving at long run in the market they intend to dominate one stop shop. Kudler need to employ the

bargaining power of suppliers, the bargaining of its customers, threat of substitute product or services
and rivalry among existing firms in the industry (Turban 2003). From the products they offer, they
have incorporated the bargaining power of customers into consideration and providing substitutes in

differentiation strategy built in. In doing so, they are positioned to always increase their earnings. In
cost leadership, it requires firm to carry out its activities more efficiently than competitors, passing
some of the cost savings to consumers in the form of lower prices (Gomez Mejia 2002). A

Cultural Relativism And Racial Relativism Essay
Question 1
Cultural Relativism is a theory arguing that each different society follows a different moral code that
is created by the majority and that is completely right and acceptable. A moral code is right, not
because of any moral reason, but because a specific culture says it is. It is important to understand that
Cultural Relativists believe that each group has the right moral code for themselves, even if there are
contradictory moral codes in different societies. In James Rachels article on Cultural Relativism, he
argues against the idea of Cultural Relativism and says that Cultural Relativism is not valid because,
with a Cultural Relativist worldview, people can decide whether their actions are right or wrong by
looking simply at what society holds to be true. Rachels finds fault in mindset. A culture can easily
have the wrong moral code on a certain topic. Rachels uses an example from South Africa s belief in
racial segregation. South Africa s moral code was clearly incorrect, but according to Cultural
Relativism, apartheid is the morally good choice, only for the South African society. How can
something so wrong be right for only certain societies? Rachels argues that this is a huge reason why
believing in Cultural Relativism is not the best decision. Additionally, Cultural Relativists are unable
to call another group s moral code wrong, even if it is wrong. Plus, believing in Cultural Relativism
leaves no room for improvement, because people are unable to

Essay about The Effects of Runoff to Marine Life
Runoff is defined as excess water that soil does not absorb after a storm. Runoff collects various
particles on its way downhill, such as pesticides and nutrients, from the surrounding area, and moves
them into the nearby bodies of water. Some nutrients carried by runoff include: nitrate, ammonium,
and phosphate; all of which are found in golf course turf fertilizer (experiment). When these excess
chemicals enter the water, they create an imbalance in the ecosystem. This imbalance can be harmful
to inhabitants both in, and around the body of water. Those affected in the water may be subjected to a
decrease in dissolved oxygen levels, making it harder for the animals to breath. The levels of acidity in
the water may increase, causing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sliva and Dudley Williams gathered information that with increased urban land use, there were
increased chemical fluxes, and their data they gathered from increased agricultural land use disagreed
with the results of other similar studies. They determined major trends in water quality and where
pollution could potentially be derived from (Sliva Dudley Williams, 2001). It is a known fact that
unnecessary amounts of lawn fertilizer, containing nitrogen and phosphorus, are commonly used, and
result in pollution of the Chesapeake Bay. This occurs through runoff. Not all of the nutrients from
runoff get transported directly to the Bay. Overtime, some are absorbed into the ground, where they
mix with groundwater, and later meets up with the Bay. For example, in a stream near Baltimore,
scientists discovered that 56% of the nutrients in the water came from lawn fertilizer alone
(Chesapeake Bay Program, 2011). Nitrogen and phosphorus are not only the primary nutrients in lawn
fertilizer, they are also the primary nutrients required to sustain aquatic biological productivity, in the
correct moderation. In freshwater ecosystems, the growth of phytoplankton and algae are influenced
by a surplus of nitrogen and phosphorus. Aquatic grasses living under this excess growth are then
inhibited from growing, eventually leading towards grass bed loss, due to the lack of sunlight
available. Lack of sunlight results in a lack of photosynthesis. Unlike the more

Analysis Of Marija Gimbutas s The Living Goddess
Archeology like any other science is prone to uncertainty and a couple mistakes. However, when an
idea is presented as a fact, it is outrageous, nothing is completely definite and everything is basically a
theory. Marija Gimbutas was very passionate about the Goddess, in The Living Goddess, she says,
The role of the father in prehistoric antiquity was either not fully understood or not as highly valued as
that of the mother, (112). Nevertheless, the way that she presented her argument was not convincing.
Gimbutas acted as though she knew the history of a civilization just by looking at the artifacts she
found, she used her own research as her evidence to support her claims, and lastly she is guilty of
letting her own ideas cloud her judgment. Throughout her work, Gimbutas appears to be omniscient
claiming to know that there was a civilization in Old Europe that was matrifocal, peaceful and offered
its citizens a higher quality of life. She paves the road for her peaceful utopia by defining the word
civilization through the eyes of an archeologist, Historians have assumed that civilization implies a
hierarchical political and religious organization, warfare, a class stratification, and a complex division
of labor, (Gimbutas, The Civilization viii). Once she introduced the barbaric society that revolved
around males she contrasts this by saying that gynocentric cultures did not revolve around petty
superficial things that mattered in a patriarchal society (Gimbutas, The

Thoughtful Reasoning For The Ultimate Punishment

Thoughtful Reasoning for the Ultimate Punishment
Only the most dangerous criminals in the world are faced with society s ultimate penalty, or at least
that is the theory. Capital punishment, commonly referred to as the Death Penalty has been debated for
many decades regarding if such a method is ethical. While there are large amounts of supporters for
the death penalty as a form of retribution, the process is avoidable financially as taxing for all parties
involved. The financial expenses may be better off saved for life imprisonment with an emphasis in
restorative justice for victims. Overall, there is unreasonable inefficiency with the capital punishment
to justify the taking of another person s life.
The death penalty process is often overlooked in the justice system and exhausts millions of dollars on
trials and repeals. Unlike countries with speedy execution processes, the U.S. judicial system is known
for having lengthy trials and judgement dates because of mandatory appeals. Richard C. Dieter,
Executive Director of the Death Penalty Information Center, briefly describes the fundamentals of a
death penalty case, Every stage of a capital case is more time consuming and expensive than in a
typical criminal case. If the defendant is found guilty of a capital crime, an entire separate trial is

.44 Caliber Killer
Murders and crime in the past decades left a negative impact throughout the city of New York.
However, these such crimes were particularly bad in the borough of Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn,
New York during the summers caused many kids and adults to hang out on their stoops and enjoy
being refreshed by an open fire hydrant or as they say in Brooklyn the pump . During one of those hot
summer days in Brooklyn the unthinkable happens. The news is reporting that a possible serial killer
was on the loose killing young brunette women. The name of the possible serial killer was David
Berkowitz who was dubbed the .44 caliber killer.

Heroism In Hamlet
The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, often shortened to Hamlet, is a tragedy written by
William Shakespeare at an uncertain date between 1599 and 1602. Set in the Kingdom of Denmark,
the play dramatises the revenge Prince Hamlet is instructed to enact on his uncle Claudius. Claudius
had murdered his own brother, Hamlet s father King Hamlet, and subsequently seized the throne,
marrying his deceased brother s widow, Hamlet s mother Gertrude.
Hamlet is Shakespeare s longest play and among the most powerful and influential tragedies in
English literature, with a story capable of seemingly endless retelling and adaptation by others. The
play seems to have been one of Shakespeare s most popular works during his lifetime It has inspired
writers from Goethe and Dickens to Joyce and Murdoch, and has been described as the world s most
filmed story after Cinderella .
The story of Hamlet ultimately derives from the legend of Amleth, preserved by 13th century
chronicler Saxo Grammaticus in his Gesta Danorum, as subsequently retold by ... Show more content

two retainers for his own. A reasonably faithful version of Saxo s story was translated into French in
1570 by François de Belleforest, in his Histoires tragiques. Belleforest embellished Saxo s text

Cathedrals
Construction of cathedrals started around the 11 century. The first cathedrals were built in France and
later its style and architecture extended across Europe. During the medieval times people were going
through economic tribulations. There was absolutely no trade going and people where ingrained in the
manors they served. It was as if all that existed was just what was behind the castle walls. Until the
construction of cathedrals came forth this gave people faith and hope that their lives will prosper.
People traveled outside and went on pilgrimages to savor the elegant and massive cathedrals. Towns
were being established and the feudal system was diminishing. The towns offered freedom and job
opportunities for people so they set out to move ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Benefits And Benefits Of Writing
Writing and its Benefits
The first phase in writing; invented spelling, is illustrated by Kelli, a first grader. Young children use
invented spelling as a vehicle to express their thoughts. When exposed to various types of print, or
writing; cereal boxes, signs, television, billboards, and any books that are read to them, the child will
mimic the sounds they hear of the words they wish to write. The writings may appear as scribbles or
unconventional writing to the viewer, but to the child it is meaningful, logical writing. The concern for
the parent and their child s invented style of spelling is that the child will later have difficulty
transitioning to a more standard, conventional style of spelling. The opposite is true, invented helps ...

As time passed, she progressed at reading and acknowledged ways of standard spellings. With teacher
encouragement, Kelli worked with her skill of invented spelling that lead her to spelling more words
correctly. Beth, a good speller who used invented spelling in the beginning of the school year, and at
the end of the school year progress had been seen in her standard writing skills; the g was used instead
of a j in gently and a y was used instead of an e in merrily . To help gauge this, teachers may
implement meaningful activities such as: songs or nursery rhymes. Less and less (as a child is
encouraged and given the freedom to use invented spelling, as they learn to pick up the sounds heard
in the words), they will seek help spelling words from the teacher, increasing their confidence level.
At some point the teacher may have the child share their writings with them or to another child, but

or words in question and instruct the rest of the class to listen to a particular point (beginning, middle,

Sherman Alexie s Dreams In Reservation Blues
Sherman Alexie may write boring and uninteresting characters, but the dreams in Reservation Blues
are stellar. The dreams help the reader understand and connect what he is trying to write. With all the
sentences in his book that say some version of the horses screamed and all the dreams about the
cavalrymen killing horses and Indians, it is not hard to make the connections Alexie is trying to make.
The horses are the Indians, and they are being killed by the white man. This also goes hand in hand
with Alexie s view of nothing good happens on a reservation and life is just like the negative
stereotypes. The dreams he writes are mainly a snapshot of what he believes about the connection
between reservation life and white America. The first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times the dreams include a scene of cavalrymen killing a horse or an Indian. Horses in dreams
are normally symbols of strength, but when there is a dead horse in a dream, it may be an indicator
that something in life that initially offered strength is now gone. On pages 142 to 145, Junior dreams
of being killed by cavalrymen. Junior dreamed about horses. He rode a horse along a rise above the
Columbia River, leading a large group of warriors. [...] One soldier walked over to Junior s pony,
placed a pistol carefully between its eyes, and pulled the trigger. The horse took a long time to fall.
(142 143). Riding a horse in dreams symbolizes a position of power, and since his horse was killed, it
symbolizes that power being taken away from him. The soldier, General George Wright, is always
depicted in dreams as killing a pony. . George Wright killed a colt in the very beginning of the book
and laments that death at the end when he returns his grave. In the end, Cavalry Records Sheridan and
Wright turn out to be the real Sheridan and Wright. The characters have dreamt about General George
Wright and General Phil Sheridan before they have ever met them. Alexie wrote them as the true
villains of this book and in real life through the dreams of the characters. They symbolize what he
believes to be the root of all problems for Native Americans. In other words, he blames white society .
Every dream featuring the duo showcases murder of horses/Indians or in Checkers case, attempted
rape and murder. Alexie writes Wright looked at Coyote Springs. He saw their Indian faces. He saw
the faces of millions of Indians, beaten, scarred by smallpox and frostbite, split open by bayonets and
bullets. He looked at his own white hands and saw the blood stains there. (pg 244). He writes these
real, historical generals as being regretful for what they have done in the past, but in the end nothing

How Did The Minoans Influence The Mycenaeans
The Aegean period brought about three significant culture civilizations; the Minoans, the Mycenaeans,
and then the Greeks (Matthews, Noble, Platt, 2014). It is evident the civilizations of Greece learned
(although made their own), from the Egyptian and Mesopotamian cultures, which truly speaks to how
we continue to learn and evolve from previous sets consistent culture of advancement. The Minoans
preceded the Mycenaeans who subsequently preceded the Greeks. The key aspects of the Minoan and
Mycenaean cultures that lived on among the later Greeks include their writing, architecture, the arts
and trades, and religion, to name a few.
The Minoans, a prosperous society, due to their domination in trade, formed on the Greek Island of
Crete around 2000 BC (Osborne, 2015). The Minoan civilization was named after King Minos, the
legendary king (Matthews, et al, 2014). The Minoan civilization was evidently not Greek, as the
writing Linear A, has still not been able to translated. However, this primitive writing led to the
development of Linear B by the Mycenaeans, which was later used in the Greek ... Show more content

The Minoan civilizations gave art breath (Osborne, 2015). Their art, pottery, sculptures, frescos

nature gods, as well as some predecessors of Olympian gods and goddesses seen later in the Greek
culture (Mark, 2013). We can truly understand the evolution of civilization to civilization, as we watch
separate cultures and civilizations adapt portions of a previous existence and then transform into

social classes had specific orders that figuratively put people in their place . These classes dictated

Introduction:

ecosystems.

Educational and community: Educating the community about woodlands and wildlife.
There are only two types of management used in the coniferous woodland. They are habitat and estate
management.
Habitat:
Walking through the coniferous woodland, I noticed the method Brushing/felling was used, to let more
sunlight reach the ground, through spaced out branches. Brushing/felling causes a lot of pine needles
to fall; this is why leaf litter found in the coniferous wood was 95% more than the leaf litter found in
the deciduous woodland. Spaced out branches lets more rain reach the ground, leaving the soil damp,
enabling 32% moss to grow on the ground.
Estate:
In the coniferous woodland there were warning signs, to prevent visitors from entering unsafe areas.
There were also fences surrounding the park to prevent people littering, and to stop animals from
escaping onto dangerous roads.
Recreational:
No signs of recreational management were found. This is because the park doesn t want to attract
visitors to the coniferous woodland, as they may cause damage. If the trees get damaged then less
trees will be manufactured, this means the park will earn less money.
All four management strategies are used in the deciduous woodland.
Habitat:
Deciduous trees are planted randomly to attract wildlife and people. Deciduous trees

You pack everything that you think you need for deployment. You conduct your demand analysis that
leads you to believe that what you packed is just what you need. Every deployment you had been on
before confirms that those are the assets that will lead you to mission success. However, this
deployment is different and just about everything you brought is not required and to source it from
else where will take too long. In the near future the most viable solution will be to print it. As 3D
printing now formally known as Additive Manufacturing (AM) evolves, the possibility of have
everything you need at your fingertips will have a profound impact on your operational readiness.
Implementation of additive manufacturing at the Intermediate level (I Level) of a Marine Aviation
Logistics Squadron, will drastically reduce the acquisition and production lead times associated with
low demand items, items that are impacted with obsolescence, and drastically reduce cost and
footprint of conventional logistic models. One advantage of AM is dramatically reducing acquisition
and production lead time associated with low demand items. Currently, Defense Logistics Agency s
(DLA) demand forecasting is predicated on either previous demand history or flight hours which will
determine how much to buy and how much to stock. This formula is great for the high demand and
major end items as they are more predictable with continuous monitoring for any changes in pattern.

Crash tests have a various operation at hand, for example; frontal impact test, side crash test, rear

Brita Filters
Brita pour through filters remove impurities from tap water through the science of adsorption.
Different from absorption, adsorption happens when particles or molecules adhere to a surface. The
activated carbon and ion exchange resins in Brita filters attract and adsorb particles in tap water,
making it better tasting and cleaner. As with any pour through system, there is a limited amount of
surface area within the filter for adsorbing particles, which is why your filter needs to be changed
every 40 gallons or approximately every two months.
All Brita filters and containers are BPA free and keep your water tasting great. For over 20 years, the
scientists at Brita® have worked to give you healthier and great tasting water*. The Brita® pitcher

With all the new legislation and measures need for the protection of the American people does this
mean we are going to become as barbaric as a foreign country? Do we really need to torture people

Jesus s Blood With The Cup
One question brought up as a result of reading the narrative. Is Jesus relating the wine to his body in a
literal sense? Jesus identifies his blood with the cup. In the NT, αἷμα may refer to the red fluid within
the body s circulatory system; however, it more often has metaphorical connotations. It may denote
the death of a person, generally as the result of violence or execution...This metaphorical corollary is
especially true when αἷμα is found with ἐκχύννω in 23:35 and 26:28. Thus, in his saying over the cup,
Jesus also speaks of his violent death. The reason this has to be clarified is that it could easily lead a
person to say the cup is his blood in a literal sense. D. A. Carson in his practical counsel to Pastors
said, make sure that your own theology of the Lord s Supper is stable, mature, exegetically grounded,
and thought through. I suspect that one of the reasons why we settle for mere rote in our celebration of
the Lord s Supper is that we have not done the work that would enable us to be much fresher and more
evocative. In personal reflection, this paper and the research to get to this point has helped become
more stable and avoid a rote celebration of the Lord s Supper. This study has codified the connection
to fellowship and philanthropy in a completely different manner than ever before. The historic
development of the doctrines surrounding the Lord s Supper is clearer. I also understand many of the

surpassing the United States faster than we can even try to catch up. They are moving at such an
economically booming rate. China and India are moving and surpassing the United States with trade
and by getting interest from loans to other countries. China and India are huge economic threats to the
United States economy. In this research paper, I will be explaining why China and India are huge
economic threats to the United States, why china and India are growing at substantially fast rates, ...

India s main importer is the United States.
China and India are also very similar in taxes. They both have similar systems for paying taxes. China
pays the higher tax depending on how much money you make. There tax system works the same way
the United States taxes people.
The more money you make the more tax money you pay monthly. In India, you do not pay as much
taxes as in China. This is also similar to China s system because they pay more taxes on income that
makes more money. As you can see by the chart the more income you make the more taxes you pay.
But in India what they do have is tax cuts for interest and royalty.
China and India have many foreign relations with other countries. They use a lot of foreign
communication, especially in trading. They trade often with the United States. China communicates
with foreign countries when diplomats are entering or leaving the country and when they are trading
to other countries. India communicates with foreign countries when diplomats and when they trade
with the United States. China and India have made plenty of investments. China and India have not
only invested in other countries bonds and stocks but they have had many foreign direct investments.

Dbq Compromise Of 1860 Essay
During the 1820s to 1860s, Americans dealt with many political disputes throughout the country. The
early nineteenth century was a period of growth and development until citizens discovered that
threatening issues would soon affect them significantly. The founding fathers established a
compromise that would attempt to unite the nation. However, slavery was an ongoing issue that
eventually led to Compromise in the middle nineteenth century. Agreements were extremely hard to
attain due to the political intolerance and problems regarding slavery. Ethical and social viewpoints of
slavery caused the split of the North and South. Compromise eventually collapsed causing America to
suffer. In spite of the fact that repercussions of the Era of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reform movements began in order to gain rights such as the abolitionist movement. Abolitionism is
the act of ending slavery. William Lloyd Garrison s newspaper, The Liberator called for instant
emancipation of slaves. Other influential figures, like Fredrick Douglas was part of the abolitionist
movement as well. After Harriet Beecher Stowe s, Uncle Toms Cabin was published, the abolition
movement in the North infuriated many. Similarly, the South began individual efforts that opposed
abolition. The Herald M Georgia strongly disapproved people in the North, by declaring that
Northerners were a devoid of society fitted for well bred southern gentleman. (Doc F). Complications
in compromise had risen due to the moral and social division of slavery. Daniel Webster identified the
intensity of an issue by saying it was a moral impossibility to possess peaceful secession. (Doc D). In
1858, Lincoln addressed a serious matter that resulted in a disruption of other political parties. (Doc
G). Unfortunately, there was a fall out in compromise as a result of the conflicts concerning

Founded by Roy Raymond in 1977, now their sales have reached over $6 billion. Through catalogues,
thousands of stores, and their website, Victoria s Secret sell bath and body products, clothing for all
seasons, shoes, and of course, undergarments. Roy Raymond started Victoria s Secret in San Francisco
in 1977, basically because he was depressed by the choices of undergarments when he was shopping
for his wife. He was thoroughly unimpressed by the styles and the choice of materials designers were
using in 1977. Also, he complained that the sales people made him unwelcomed and as if he were
intruding on something highly personal. He vowed to have a place men could pick highly desirable

Soluble Vitamins
Katharine Jones
SCI/241
September 22, 2013
Water soluble and fat soluble vitamins are both needed in order for our bodies to not only survive but
to thrive as well. Water soluble vitamins are vitamins that are stored within our bodies and are needed
daily. If we consume too much water soluble vitamins they will then be excreted through our urine.
Water soluble vitamins are metabolized by the process of digestion and then absorption. Fat soluble
vitamins are vitamins that are soluble in fats. Foods cooked with these vitamins will not lose their
vitamins after being cooked. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are considered the fat soluble vitamins. There
are many sources which you can find these vitamins in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

These two are the only ones that I feel I do not get enough of. I feel like maybe I may get them in the
form of a supplement but, I am not sure if that is enough. I worry too much about taking a calcium
supplement also because I am aware that some people can get kidney stones from an excess of vitamin

The Psychology Of Self Esteem
Furthermore, the effects of these awards go far beyond sports and contests. Being awarded at such a
young age for just about anything is highly misleading of how the real world works. Many young
Americans have developed a sense of entitlement, expecting to gain more in return for less effort. Per
a study done by Bernard Goldberg approximately one out of every three college students believes they
deserve a B just for attending their courses. This sense of privilege is an almost contagious mind set
that has only gotten worse. But many ask how exactly the idea that one should be rewarded for almost
anything began?
The self esteem movement was developed in 1969 after Nathaniel Branden wrote The Psychology of
Self Esteem. The idea Branden proposed was that self esteem is essential to overall success in life.
This caused many parents to believe that, if they could start by increasing their children s self esteem
they would become more successful in the future. This brought up ideas intended to help children gain
more confidence and self worth. For example, all children should receive participation awards so that
no child would feel bad for not winning. Consequently, studies have found that children s self image
may be negatively impacted by the ideas behind participation trophies and awards. Yet, parents still
encourage rewards be given to all children.
There seem to be two obvious reasons why parents want their children to receive trophies. One, they
are terrified of how

Cultural Memory, The Mgr Murder Trial
Cultural Memory and the Sri Lankan Civil War in Shobaskthi s short story, The MGR Murder Trial
By
Dr Preetha Vasan .
Abstract : This paper looks at the intersection of cultural memory, war and literary narrative in the
specific context of the civil wars that raged Sri Lanka. It would consider the dynamics of cultural
memory of an ethnic minority group during a civil war. To achieve this , the paper would attempt a
close study of Shobasakthi , the Tamil Eelam writer s titular short story The MGR Murder Trial from
his short story anthology. The use of a popular cultural icon is deliberate in the story. The paper would
consider the symbolism of this usage and thereby arrive at the author s response to the civil war

War has many fall outs. Like the Nigerian poet John Pepper Clark Bekederemo states The casualties
are not only those who are dead . Literary writings have represented many facets of war ranging from
the great epics like The Mahabharatha to our postcolonial postmodern writings on terrorism, genocide
and exile. In order to understand the context of the narrative of Shobasakthi s story , it is necessary to
briefly consider the many trajectories of the Sri Lankan civil war. Sometimes called the pearl of the
Indian Ocean, meaning resplendent in Sinhala, once described by travellers as a paradise and named
by Arab seafarers as Serendib, Sri Lanka was what an Eighteenth Century writer had in mind when he
coined the word serendipity .However the nation s gruesome and protracted civil wars have reduced
these myriad nomenclatures to the poignant Tear drop in the Indian Ocean. In the Sri Lankan context
multiple historicisations, various narratives of the same history occur since the nation is marked by a
diversity of ethnic, religious and linguistic identities. These include Sinhalese, Sri Lankan Tamils,
Indian Tamils, Muslim moors, Tamil Christians, and the Eurasian Burghers. Historians, political
science scholars Richardson, Stokke and others have located different reasons for the civil strife in Sri
Lanka to understand why and how simmering ethnic differences escalated into a full scale insurgency

Compare And Contrast Africa And Lot s Wife
Lot s Wife and Africa are poems depicting the effects of the abuse of power and how the forceful
villains mistreat others due to their positions of superiority and trust. Lot s Wife shows how under a
tyrannous rule which holds no regard for personal emotions renders people either devoid of humanity,
Lot, or devoid of life, Lot s Wife. Africa demonstrates the chaos and terror involved in invasion and
how an overwhelming military force and covetousness can extirpate the magic and God out of a place.
I will argue that both poems show how excessive force and violence can have a strong impact to both
people and places as they circumscribe emotion and obliterate the potential of a civilization. Lot s
Wife indicates how unsettling and unnatural the presence of the harbingers of caustic rulers can be. In
line 1, the adjective just is used to describe Lot as he trailed behind the Angel. Just is used with a
touch of sarcasm as Lot is only just because he follows the Angel. The verb trailed could have been
replaced by followed or a verb which is more indicative of any interest in following the
aforementioned Angel. This suggests that Lot may not want to go with the Angel. This engenders an
aura of fear which is further developed in line 2, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alongside this, Tagore also demonstrates the arousement of his thirst for repentance for the
maltreatment of Africa. Sarcasm embellishes itself in the oxymoron civilizations barbarous greed .
Irony is developed in lines 35 to 39 as the Europeans are engaging in a supposedly moral and civil
activity whilst destroying Africa. There is further irony developed from how they are bastardizing God
s will yet devoutly praying. The uncapitalized god with the presence of the aforestated capitalized
creator diminishes the importance of their God and suggests their lack of knowledge of

This act modified the methods for many different subjects, such as financial and non financial
reporting, company communications with shareholders, and the responsibilities of company heads.
The main role of the Act is to get managers to act in the best interests of shareholders. It additionally
requires managers to think about the long term effects of decisions; the welfares of the business s
staff; the business s connections alongside suppliers, clients, and others; and the impression of the
company s procedures on the surrounding area. The Company Law Review Group was established by
the government in 1998 in order to contemplate ways to modernize company law. The Company Law
Review guidelines were the starting point for the modifications suggested by the Company Law
Reform White Paper released in 2005. Then the White Paper proposals turned into an outline for a
Bill, which then finally received official approval and passed in 2006, (companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014).
Some of the main effects of the Companies Act on private companies are: an individual and simplified
model of Articles of Association; individual requirements for accounting and reporting; no
requirement for a company secretary; no requirement for an annual meeting; and simplified rules
about share capital, (companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014). The key benefits of the Companies Act for

Trust In Speckled Band And A Retrieved Reformation
Overall Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keys, Speckled Band by Arthur Conan Doyle, and A
Retrieved Reformation by O. Henry, have many themes in common. I could ve chosen so many other
ones besides this theme. I decided to chose the theme of trust. Trust, as in whether you should trust
someone or not. Two of the characters in the stories have been around people that they have trusted
when maybe they shouldn t have. One of the characters was the person that people shouldn t put their
full trust in. Trust is a hard thing, something that should be learned and earned. Some people don t
deserve to be trusted, but get trusted anyways. Throughout all three stories the characters learned a
lesson about trust, whether to not trust or to only trust ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the three stories the characters learned that too. Helen learned to take in all the behaviors of the
people around her and then evaluate whether they are trustworthy or not. Even though Helen knew
Doctor Roylott basically her whole life, doesn t mean that he had a different view of her. Johnny
Valentine misused the people around him, people that he called family, in Elmore. He never had the
intention of lying to them, or at least never meant for them to find out that he was. Charlie realized
that because of the way that his brain works, people will never treat him like they would treat a normal
processing human being. His so called friends used him for their enjoyment and embarrassed him over
and over again. Charlie was finally done with the people that he used to trust and call his friends and
moved away because he wanted a fresh start with people that he could trust. Flowers for Algernon ,
Speckled Band , and A Retrieved Reformation had many lessons and themes to be learned, I thought
that trust was the most important lesson because trust is something that everybody needs to learn and

My Interview With A Salesperson
My interview with a salesperson
My interview was conducted over the phone with Mr. Jonathan Ménard, a sales project manager for
Machinex Industries, located in Plessisville, Québec. Through the interview process, we spoke over
the phone once for half an hour and exchanged emails over the course of a few days. He was very kind
with his time and diligently answered all the questions I had, sometimes taking a few days to ponder
over a question in order to provide me with an insightful answer.
To set the context, Machinex is a world leader in the industry of recycling. They focus on the design
of profitable and reliable material recycling facilities and produce custom made sorting and recycling
technology for facilities all around the world. Jonathan is one of half a dozen sales project managers
for the group. He is mainly in charge of the European market as the company works under a
geographic sales structure in order to save on travel expenses and to get to know clients better.
Amongst Jonathan s responsibilities are identifying the client s needs, or as he says listening to what
the client wants today and figuring out what he will need in two years. For the latter part, he says he
often relies on past experiences. His role in the company is mainly related to the sales function, but he
will often work closely with the engineering department to put together the best possible solution.
Once the solution is put together, he is in responsible for the presentation (sales pitch)

  • 3. Personal Statement On Employee Management Last week I had two shadowing experiences that fell in line with my competencies and two experiences that did not, but were still extremely important to client management. I worked alongside the Sales Coordinator Ksenia, the Convention Sales Manager Teagan, the Banquet Manager Luis, and the Sales Manager Ashley. Last Monday (09/21/15) I had the pleasure of learning the BEO system for Marriott with the Sales Manager Ashley. Marriott full service hotels do not use Delphi for their BEO s, instead they use a B.E.O. software specific to Marriott called C.I.T.Y. This is a very difficult software to operate, and can take months to be completely trained in. Ashley (Sales Manager in charge of BEO s) who is new to the company and the area was happy to share the knowledge she did know. She didn t have a full BEO implementation to show me, but she did have a small piece to show me which I found very interesting. For this specific meeting group, they were have a 3 day meeting that required a continuous beverage package priced by consumption. C.I.T.Y. is interesting in that it didn t offer an option to select the continuous beverage package; instead each beverage type had to be selected and set to price by consumption. Although this was time consuming task, I was able to quickly pick up the procedure and input the beverage for the last full day of the meeting. This experience lined up perfectly with my chosen competency Banquet and Catering Sales: Planning Coffee Breaks. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rightly Detected Truths In Sherwood Anderson s Hands While investigating one of the largest mysteries known to human civilization, atomic structure, British chemist John Dalton wrote, It s the right idea, but not the right time (online). Although Dalton was profoundly incorrect in his analysis of the atom and its structure, his written words regarding the importance of rightly ordered truths could not be of greater importance for making and sustaining human connections throughout time. For the duration of human existence, romantic love and dating has always remained one of the largest hurdles an individual must face in his or her lifetime. Unfortunately for Wing Bittlebaum, most of his obsessions were incorrectly ordered. Although sexual relationships between adults and children are obviously inappropriate for any time period or location, Bittlebaum s relationship with Willard was incorrectly timed by approximately sixty years. Despite not necessarily being an allegory for any modern problem in particular, Sherwood Anderson s Hands provides incredible insight into human need and want, and the drive to fulfill one s desires while ignoring a rightly ordered life in favor of an incorrect balance. Although many relationships can flourish without necessarily being ordered perfectly, Wing Bittlebaum s many illegal and unwanted relationships could never have succeeded due to his lack of understanding and empathy. Hip hop originated in the predominantly African American economically depressed South Bronx section of New York City in the late 1970s. As the hip hop movement began at society s margins, its origins are shrouded in myth, enigma, and obfuscation. (Alan Light, 2016). In the mid 1980s the next wave of rappers, the new school, came to prominence. At the forefront was Run D.M.C., a trio of middle class African Americans who fused rap with hard rock, defined a new style of hip dress, and became staples on MTV as they brought rap to a mainstream audience. Aviation Fatigue Essay Ensuring the safety and integrity of the U.S. National airspace system is contingent on ensuring consistent and reliable performance of the Air Traffic Controllers ultimately charged with the safety and security of that system. Aviation is a very safety critical industry that is fundamentally reliant on the people who interact and operate within the system. People are human and subject to fatigue. Managing the effects of fatigue is a large part of managing people and their performance. In order to manage fatigue, a working understanding of the risks to performance that fatigue poses must be attained. Fatigue manifests itself in many ways. Fatigue results in the ability to pay adequate attention. An inability to pay adequate attention can result in missing essential steps in performing a given task. The memories are all from the perspective of Korean men and women who lived through some or all of it. Many of their stories and the history during that time are influenced by several factors, some of which include their location in Korea or surrounding areas and the government s involvement in recording history. The Japanese were not all awful to the Koreans, since they were humans all the same, but they committed enough atrocities to have a bad reputation with the Koreans. In attempts to unify, North Koreans employed nationalism and ethnocentrism to fuel their way to become a strong nation again. South Koreans did not rally around such extreme ways and did not utilize their northern brethren s methods of fear for power. Back then and now, globalization is a part of life and it should not be stifled. Nationalistic thinking will bring about more pain and suffering rather than just trying to coexist. Korea faced many hardships with the Japanese occupation. In recovery to their rule, issues arose when it came to accuracy in history, nationalism, ethnocentrism, and the different roles they all took between the north and the south. • 17. Cultural Relativism And Racial Relativism Essay Question 1 Cultural Relativism is a theory arguing that each different society follows a different moral code that is created by the majority and that is completely right and acceptable. A moral code is right, not because of any moral reason, but because a specific culture says it is. It is important to understand that Cultural Relativists believe that each group has the right moral code for themselves, even if there are contradictory moral codes in different societies. In James Rachels article on Cultural Relativism, he argues against the idea of Cultural Relativism and says that Cultural Relativism is not valid because, with a Cultural Relativist worldview, people can decide whether their actions are right or wrong by looking simply at what society holds to be true. Rachels finds fault in mindset. A culture can easily have the wrong moral code on a certain topic. Rachels uses an example from South Africa s belief in racial segregation. South Africa s moral code was clearly incorrect, but according to Cultural Relativism, apartheid is the morally good choice, only for the South African society. How can something so wrong be right for only certain societies? Rachels argues that this is a huge reason why believing in Cultural Relativism is not the best decision. Additionally, Cultural Relativists are unable to call another group s moral code wrong, even if it is wrong. Plus, believing in Cultural Relativism leaves no room for improvement, because people are unable to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Essay about The Effects of Runoff to Marine Life Runoff is defined as excess water that soil does not absorb after a storm. Runoff collects various particles on its way downhill, such as pesticides and nutrients, from the surrounding area, and moves them into the nearby bodies of water. Some nutrients carried by runoff include: nitrate, ammonium, and phosphate; all of which are found in golf course turf fertilizer (experiment). When these excess chemicals enter the water, they create an imbalance in the ecosystem. This imbalance can be harmful to inhabitants both in, and around the body of water. Those affected in the water may be subjected to a decrease in dissolved oxygen levels, making it harder for the animals to breath. The levels of acidity in the water may increase, causing ... Sliva and Dudley Williams gathered information that with increased urban land use, there were increased chemical fluxes, and their data they gathered from increased agricultural land use disagreed with the results of other similar studies. They determined major trends in water quality and where pollution could potentially be derived from (Sliva Dudley Williams, 2001). It is a known fact that unnecessary amounts of lawn fertilizer, containing nitrogen and phosphorus, are commonly used, and result in pollution of the Chesapeake Bay. This occurs through runoff. Not all of the nutrients from runoff get transported directly to the Bay. Overtime, some are absorbed into the ground, where they mix with groundwater, and later meets up with the Bay. For example, in a stream near Baltimore, scientists discovered that 56% of the nutrients in the water came from lawn fertilizer alone (Chesapeake Bay Program, 2011). Nitrogen and phosphorus are not only the primary nutrients in lawn fertilizer, they are also the primary nutrients required to sustain aquatic biological productivity, in the correct moderation. In freshwater ecosystems, the growth of phytoplankton and algae are influenced by a surplus of nitrogen and phosphorus. Aquatic grasses living under this excess growth are then inhibited from growing, eventually leading towards grass bed loss, due to the lack of sunlight available. Lack of sunlight results in a lack of photosynthesis. Unlike the more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Analysis Of Marija Gimbutas s The Living Goddess Archeology like any other science is prone to uncertainty and a couple mistakes. However, when an idea is presented as a fact, it is outrageous, nothing is completely definite and everything is basically a theory. Marija Gimbutas was very passionate about the Goddess, in The Living Goddess, she says, The role of the father in prehistoric antiquity was either not fully understood or not as highly valued as that of the mother, (112). Nevertheless, the way that she presented her argument was not convincing. Gimbutas acted as though she knew the history of a civilization just by looking at the artifacts she found, she used her own research as her evidence to support her claims, and lastly she is guilty of letting her own ideas cloud her judgment. Throughout her work, Gimbutas appears to be omniscient claiming to know that there was a civilization in Old Europe that was matrifocal, peaceful and offered its citizens a higher quality of life. She paves the road for her peaceful utopia by defining the word civilization through the eyes of an archeologist, Historians have assumed that civilization implies a hierarchical political and religious organization, warfare, a class stratification, and a complex division of labor, (Gimbutas, The Civilization viii). Once she introduced the barbaric society that revolved around males she contrasts this by saying that gynocentric cultures did not revolve around petty superficial things that mattered in a patriarchal society (Gimbutas, The ... Thoughtful Reasoning For The Ultimate Punishment Linda Chin Mr. Hoague AP Lit and Comp, Period 1 14 October 2015 Thoughtful Reasoning for the Ultimate Punishment Only the most dangerous criminals in the world are faced with society s ultimate penalty, or at least that is the theory. Capital punishment, commonly referred to as the Death Penalty has been debated for many decades regarding if such a method is ethical. While there are large amounts of supporters for the death penalty as a form of retribution, the process is avoidable financially as taxing for all parties involved. The financial expenses may be better off saved for life imprisonment with an emphasis in restorative justice for victims. Overall, there is unreasonable inefficiency with the capital punishment to justify the taking of another person s life. The death penalty process is often overlooked in the justice system and exhausts millions of dollars on trials and repeals. Unlike countries with speedy execution processes, the U.S. judicial system is known for having lengthy trials and judgement dates because of mandatory appeals. Richard C. Dieter, Executive Director of the Death Penalty Information Center, briefly describes the fundamentals of a death penalty case, Every stage of a capital case is more time consuming and expensive than in a typical criminal case. If the defendant is found guilty of a capital crime, an entire separate trial is required, with new witnesses and new evidence, in which the jury must decide whether the penalty should be ... Brushing/felling causes a lot of pine needles to fall; this is why leaf litter found in the coniferous wood was 95% more than the leaf litter found in the deciduous woodland. Spaced out branches lets more rain reach the ground, leaving the soil damp, enabling 32% moss to grow on the ground. Estate: In the coniferous woodland there were warning signs, to prevent visitors from entering unsafe areas. There were also fences surrounding the park to prevent people littering, and to stop animals from escaping onto dangerous roads. Recreational: No signs of recreational management were found. This is because the park doesn t want to attract visitors to the coniferous woodland, as they may cause damage. If the trees get damaged then less trees will be manufactured, this means the park will earn less money. All four management strategies are used in the deciduous woodland.

  • 37. Apollo 13 Failure Houston, we ve had a problem. These words were said by Jack Swigert 2 days after the Apollo 13 launch on April 11, 1970. Apollo 13 was the 3rd U.S. manned lunar landing mission of NASA under Project Apollo. Even though the result of Apollo 13 ended in an unsuccessful attempt to land on the moon again, Apollo 13 s failure to complete their mission of landing on the moon helped aid future Apollo missions in being successful.1 James A. It wasn t until later that day that one of the oxygen tanks would explode and cause a fire, resulting in one of the wall units blowing up. At the time of the accident, on board the spacecraft, the crew had just finished a routine mid flight TV broadcast. Commander James Lovell and LM Pilot Fred Haise were in the process of completing a checkout of their lunar lander and CSM Pilot Jack Swigert was preparing to make some star sightings with his sextant. At fifty five hours, fifty five minutes into the mission, all three astronauts heard and felt an explosion. It got their immediate attention and, during the next few minutes as they and the ground controllers made a rapid assessment of the condition of the spacecraft, it became apparent that two of the three fuel cells in the Service Module had gone dead. At the moment, no one knew what had happened, but it became obvious that the crew was in serious trouble.3 If they were going to survive, they would need enough power, oxygen, and water for a four day trip around the Moon and home to Earth. These requirements were beginning to be very hard to acquire because of the unhealthy Service Module. • 39. Jesus s Blood With The Cup One question brought up as a result of reading the narrative. Is Jesus relating the wine to his body in a literal sense? Jesus identifies his blood with the cup. In the NT, αἷμα may refer to the red fluid within the body s circulatory system; however, it more often has metaphorical connotations. It may denote the death of a person, generally as the result of violence or execution...This metaphorical corollary is especially true when αἷμα is found with ἐκχύννω in 23:35 and 26:28. Thus, in his saying over the cup, Jesus also speaks of his violent death. The reason this has to be clarified is that it could easily lead a person to say the cup is his blood in a literal sense. D. A. Carson in his practical counsel to Pastors said, make sure that your own theology of the Lord s Supper is stable, mature, exegetically grounded, and thought through. I suspect that one of the reasons why we settle for mere rote in our celebration of the Lord s Supper is that we have not done the work that would enable us to be much fresher and more evocative. In personal reflection, this paper and the research to get to this point has helped become more stable and avoid a rote celebration of the Lord s Supper. This study has codified the connection to fellowship and philanthropy in a completely different manner than ever before. • 44. The Psychology Of Self Esteem Furthermore, the effects of these awards go far beyond sports and contests. Being awarded at such a young age for just about anything is highly misleading of how the real world works. Many young Americans have developed a sense of entitlement, expecting to gain more in return for less effort. Per a study done by Bernard Goldberg approximately one out of every three college students believes they deserve a B just for attending their courses. This sense of privilege is an almost contagious mind set that has only gotten worse. But many ask how exactly the idea that one should be rewarded for almost anything began? The self esteem movement was developed in 1969 after Nathaniel Branden wrote The Psychology of Self Esteem. The idea Branden proposed was that self esteem is essential to overall success in life. This caused many parents to believe that, if they could start by increasing their children s self esteem they would become more successful in the future. This brought up ideas intended to help children gain more confidence and self worth. For example, all children should receive participation awards so that no child would feel bad for not winning. Consequently, studies have found that children s self image may be negatively impacted by the ideas behind participation trophies and awards. Yet, parents still encourage rewards be given to all children. There seem to be two obvious reasons why parents want their children to receive trophies. One, they are terrified of how ... Abstract : This paper looks at the intersection of cultural memory, war and literary narrative in the specific context of the civil wars that raged Sri Lanka. It would consider the dynamics of cultural memory of an ethnic minority group during a civil war. To achieve this , the paper would attempt a close study of Shobasakthi , the Tamil Eelam writer s titular short story The MGR Murder Trial from his short story anthology. Literary writings have represented many facets of war ranging from the great epics like The Mahabharatha to our postcolonial postmodern writings on terrorism, genocide and exile. In order to understand the context of the narrative of Shobasakthi s story , it is necessary to briefly consider the many trajectories of the Sri Lankan civil war. Sometimes called the pearl of the Indian Ocean, meaning resplendent in Sinhala, once described by travellers as a paradise and named by Arab seafarers as Serendib, Sri Lanka was what an Eighteenth Century writer had in mind when he coined the word serendipity .However the nation s gruesome and protracted civil wars have reduced these myriad nomenclatures to the poignant Tear drop in the Indian Ocean. In the Sri Lankan context multiple historicisations, various narratives of the same history occur since the nation is marked by a diversity of ethnic, religious and linguistic identities. These include Sinhalese, Sri Lankan Tamils, Indian Tamils, Muslim moors, Tamil Christians, and the Eurasian Burghers. Compare And Contrast Africa And Lot s Wife Lot s Wife and Africa are poems depicting the effects of the abuse of power and how the forceful villains mistreat others due to their positions of superiority and trust. Lot s Wife shows how under a tyrannous rule which holds no regard for personal emotions renders people either devoid of humanity, Lot, or devoid of life, Lot s Wife. Africa demonstrates the chaos and terror involved in invasion and how an overwhelming military force and covetousness can extirpate the magic and God out of a place. I will argue that both poems show how excessive force and violence can have a strong impact to both people and places as they circumscribe emotion and obliterate the potential of a civilization. Lot s Wife indicates how unsettling and unnatural the presence of the harbingers of caustic rulers can be. In line 1, the adjective just is used to describe Lot as he trailed behind the Angel. Just is used with a touch of sarcasm as Lot is only just because he follows the Angel.
