Tidal Restoration
Estuarine environments are one of the most productive ecosystems on earth. Not only do they provide
measureable environmental benefits, but social and economic benefits. Salt marshes provide habitat
and serve as food resources for various wildlife such as shellfish, fish, and birds. They also act as
nurseries for commercially and recreationally important shell and fin fisheries. Nearby land and
waterbodies are protected from flooding, storm surges, shoreline stabilization, nutrient absorption, and
water quality improvement. Wetlands and marshes not only provide the environmental aspects just
mentioned, they also serve as an educational and recreational opportunity for the community. For
healthy survival, salt marsh plant species require proper tidal fluctuation.
Over past of years, many salt marsh habitats have been lost to filling, diking, or draining. New
England has lost an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though reversing massive environmental damage may abide as impossible, over long term periods,
reversal of tidal restriction and restoration of the ecosystem is plausible. The main objectives for
proper tidal flow restoration are to eliminate invasive plants growing in the area, restore proper soil,
oxygen, and water levels and quality, mosquito control, reduce all blockages to return proper flow, and
restore the native population of organisms. Specific materials such as installing modified tide gates or
bidirectional flow tide gates, such as self regulating tide gates (SRT) if needed, rather than
conventional tide gates, can improve drainage conditions, increase saline tidal flow, help control
Phragmites, decrease fire hazards and mosquito breeding, restore normal saltmarsh biotic conditions,
and protect adjacent development from flooding (Reiner 2011). Proper restoration should allow a
habitat to act as the productive salt marsh it once

Project Proposal ( Option 3 )
Project Proposal (option 3)
Name: Yao Yang UNI: yy2641
The common theme my project will be focuses on is K means clustering.
The k means clustering problem can be described as following:
Given a set of n data points in d dimensional space R^d and an integer k. Find a set of k points/centers
in R^d, such that the mean squared distance from each data point to its nearest centre (one of the k
centers) is minimized.
Paper Summaries:
A local search approximation algorithm for k means clustering (2004)
The paper considered whether there exists a simple and practical approximation algorithm for k means
clustering.
It brings up the classical tradeoff between run time and approximation factor.
A local improvement heuristic based on swapping centers in and out that yields a (9 + ϵ)
approximation algorithm is presented. The paper also shows that any approach based on performing a
fixed number of swaps achieves an approximation factor of at least (9 ϵ) in all sufficiently high
dimensions by providing example.
In summary, the approximation factor is almost tight for algorithms based on methods that perform
fixed number swaps as shown by the paper.
The effectiveness of Lloyd type methods for the k means problem (2006)
This paper show that if the data satisfies a natural condition on separation/clusterability, then a near
optimal clustering result can be expected as various Lloyd style methods would have great
performance in such setting.
The major algorithmic contribution from

Responsibilities Of A Responsibility Centre
A responsibility centre is a unit of the organisation, headed by a manager having direct responsibility
for its performance. There are 3 types of responsibility centre:
Cost centre
Profit centre
Investment centre 1
A cost center is an unit of a company that is responsible and has control over only of the costs incurred
in that unit. The manager is not held responsible for the costs outside of his/her control or efficiency in
meeting demand, or long term investment decisions.
A cost centre would be an appropriate centre when top management thinks that the unit managers
could not cope with more responsibilities or if top management does not wish to lose control over
investment divisions or the level of activity.
A profit centre is

Transcendental Meditation Essay
Most likely among the most popular and famous kind of meditation occurs to be transcendental
meditation, likewise common as TM. Maharishi began a tour worldwide in 1958 coaching this method
to those in the Far East. Eventually he would provide lectures in Europe and the USA also on this
technique of meditation. Celebrities have been embracing the positive aspects of meditation for years.
It all started when Paul McCartney, and the rest of The Beatles, looked into meditation with Maharishi
Mahesh Yogi in the 1960s. In 2009, McCartney said, In times of mania, meditation has assisted me

While writing my profile essay on University of Montana International Student Association to

their home country to study here at the University of Montana. Many face challenges from social

The Lord Of The Flies
Nahuel Pittamiglio Mrs. Cohen CP English 10 G 30 May 2015 Lord of the Flies Research Paper Evils
are what drive all of the negative things in society. Characteristics of evil are all around us in our
everyday lives. political leaders, celebrities, People we idolize show characteristics of evil. Even small
insignificant roles in society hold certain evils in their motives. Throughout this story these evils were
for once boldly stated for all to understand. The games the boys play, the fire they set, and their rescue,
in the Lord of the flies shows the theme that evil is inside every man. In many instances in the book
the boys show the true evils of themselves. Greed, Cruelty, and Irony is key to the entire story. Greed
is a huge flaw within some of the characters in Lord of the Flies and Jack, I would say is the biggest
culprit of greed. Time and time again in the story he reflected his obsession of having complete power
and being the best. He said things like, Choir! Stand still! Wearily obedient, the choir huddled into line
and stood there swaying in the sun. None the less, some began to protest faintly. But, Merridew.
Please, Merridew. . . can t we? (Golding 1) The choir boys can t even sit down without Jack needing
the power to control their actions. In another instance in the book he said, The circle of boys broke
into applause. Even the choir applauded; and the freckles on Jack s face disappeared under a blush of
mortification. (Golding 1) Showing that

Motorcycle Club Evil Vs Evil
The television show, Sons of Anarchy has first aired in 2008 on cable network FX. It is considered as
a crime drama since its main focus is the motorcycle club which carries the same name as the show
itself (IMDb). The members of this club were living their life in outlaw, believing that they kept the
order in the town called Charming while in most of the cases they did things that could put members
behind jail bars. For six seasons, Jax and the club have been unlikely heroes, as a working class biker
gang dabbling in guns, drugs, prostitution, and pornography. Oh, and tons of violence (...) But, despite
the shady deals and blood baths, viewers have stood by the Sons since 2008, because they protected

People are trying to understand if God is all powerful and good, why does evil exist in the world?
They think that evil is a mystery, it comes from people s own free will, from Adam and Eve s original

evil for evil s sake, modern evil and the banality of evil. The television show Sons of Anarchy has

Abstract
Third party logistics is a provider that gives companies the ability to outsource their logistics services.
Logistics services that may include anything throughout an organization that involves management of
the way resources are moved to areas where they are required or needed. Some would say the term,
third party logistics, come from the military. In the business world, third party logistics con somewhat
have a broader meaning. Meaning that it can be associated with service contracts that involve shipping
or storing of items. Third party logistics provide services that may be a single service such as
warehouse storage or transportation related, but it can also provide a system wide bundle of services
that have the capability of managing a company s entire supply chain. Photo provided by Robinson

Alexander the Great conquered all the known world in 336 B.C. He united all of Greece and built an
empire, but he dies 13 years later. The period from 323 B.C. to 31 B.C. is known as the Hellenistic

After Alexander s death, his empire divided into four kingdoms: Syria (the kingdom of the Seleucids),
Egypt, Pergamum, and Macedonia. Farther east in Syria, the Hellenistic rulers of the new kingdoms
Encouraged Greek art and literature as one means of holding foreign influences under control.
Libraries were built at Pergamum and the Syrian capital of Antioch. Greek philosophers were
encouraged to visit learning centers and lecture there. This assisted with the spread of Greek influence

How Is Catherine Earnshaw Character In Wuthering Heights
The Dualism of Catherine Earnshaw s Character in Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights is a work
marked by a complexity of characterization. Perhaps most complex of all is Emily s portrayal of
Catherine Earnshaw as a victim and a victimizer. With such qualities, Catherine s character was
violently at odds with ideals of the Victorian womanhood. Namely, that a woman should be a passive,
obedient, and an angel in the house. (Towheed, 2012). Indeed, not major characteristics of Catherine
Earnshaw. However, while being a victimizer, Catherine s brutality could be justified in a way that
would not affect one s own sympathizes for her. Notably, Catherine s first victim is herself. Her
character was marked by a divided self, an idea that was emphasized by Helene Moglen (1971). She
was shattered between a desire to remain a free, wild child and her aspiration to maintain her family
status and respectability. Identically, this struggle is also evident in her divided attraction for both
Heathcliff and Edgar Linton. According to Correa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In the experiment we conducted there were many method in which we could have used to help us
manipulate and identify bacterium on different agar plates. First part of the experiment involved the
manipulation of the bacterial growth where we used different streaking methods to see which method
was best suited to give me colonies. We have used 2 types of bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) and
Yakult (Lactobacillus casei). E. coli is a bacteria that is rod shaped, Gram negative and is a genus of
enterobacteriacae, the rate of its growth varies on if the right conditions are met which include the

MacConkey agar is a selective agar which is a good medium to use for E. coli since it does not contain
bile salt and crystal violet, it contains a PH indicator which gives it colour red, it is also a disaccharide
known as lactose. Lactose is a sugar molecule that is derived from Galactose and glucose . MRS agar
was developed by de Man, Rogosa and Sharpe who decided it was best to have a different media
which can be used for cultivating bacteria, this media is nonselective and lactobacillus can grow on it,
they found out that acetate and citrate helps the growth of lactobacillus (De MAN, ROGOSA, and
SHARPE, 1960). Gram staining was first used by Hans Christian Gram who devised this method to
help identify bacteria, Gram positive bacteria have a bigger peptidoglycan and smaller lipid content in
comparison to Gram negative bacteria. This was first tested in 1882 and later published in 1884, it the
most common technique used by microbiologist. Being able to manipulate bacteria gives us an
advantage to understand its structure, function, time taken to asexually reproduce etc. This information

The Inseparable Curtis Brothers In The Outsiders
The Inseparable Curtis Brothers
Is life even possible without parents when you are a teenager? Try raising two younger brothers on top
of that. In S.E. Hinton s book, The Outsiders, Darry Curtis took this duty into his own hands and
tackled it as though he was a father. The Outsiders is a book about a rivalry between the two sides of
town that leads to the death of three kids, two greasers and Soc. Does the sun set on both sides of
town? The main characters in the story, Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry Curtis lose their parents in a car
crash and have to adjust to life on their own. The Curtis brothers fear that the state agency will split
them up, but they should not get split because they look out for each other, push each other, and need
each other.
Uniquely, both Darry and Soda focus a lot on Pony s future. In the story, one of the fellow greasers,
Two Bit, says to Ponyboy, You know, the only thing that keeps Darry from bein a Soc is us. (Hinton
126) The boys have to regulate living life on their own which leads to Darry dropping the thought of
college and working instead to help meet his two younger brothers needs. Not to mention that Soda
dropped out of high school to work and help Darry with bills and such. Ponyboy says, Darry was too
smart to be a greaser. (Hinton 126) Darry is not like the other greasers, he was a strong athlete and did
fine in school. Darry would of probably went to college if it was not for the passing of his parents. He
gave up a lot, but he knew he had to watch out for his brothers. Darry became the guardian over the
boys ensuring that the family had reinforcement.
Correspondingly, Darry wants the most suiting life for his brothers even though Ponyboy viewed it as
Darry nagging at him. In the book, Ponyboy says, Darry did care about me, maybe as much as he
cared about Soda, and because he cared he was trying too hard to make something of me. ( Hinton 98)
The Curtis brothers were all together again following Pony and Johnny running away. Soda and Darry
go to the hospital to see Pony and Darry actually cries. Ponyboy realizes that Darry does not hate him.

Descriptive Experience Of Fish
Version 2: 5 fish, mean fish, dead fish, no fish!
I opened the black hatch on the lid of the fish tank. Turning open the lid of the plastic container, I
reached inside and took out a pinch of the musty smelling fish food flakes. I sprinkled the flakes over
the water in the fish tank and watched as the 5 fish swam up, gulping up the thin copper, crimson, and
mahogany colored flakes. I watched until the fish swam away, finished with their meal. I then closed
the hatch, put away and closed the jar of fish food, and walked out of my room. Feeding time was
over. Just a couple days ago, I had been at Petsmart with my family.
The fish tanks at Petsmart were all lined up against the walls, illuminated by blue and violet lights.
Each fish tank held fish of all kinds of different shapes, colors, and sizes. My family had bought 5
glimmering fish, a bag of fish care supplies, and when we got home, my mom and dad took the old
fish tank we had in our garage, and much to my delight, set it up in my room, on top of a low
bookcase.
One day, me and my mom both saw something odd in the fish tank.. One of the fish, a huge fish with
silver colored scales, was pecking at some of the smaller fish, causing a couple of their scales to fall
off and drift around in the water. Me and my sister started calling that fish the, mean fish. Later, I
walked in my room to see that the mean fish was now stuck inside a fishbowl! But technically, the

Analysis Of Dancer By Alden Nowlan
Frequently in life, human beings go through obstacles that shape and reform who they are. Achieving
satisfaction in life is the way individuals evaluate their personal lives, directions and the decisions
they make in the future. Through the decisions that are made, individuals are altered and reformed.
While our decisions and situations take an effect they are rather led by a purpose. Oftentimes,
limitations and existence of self sacrifice are built on the ideas of self control and altruism. Self
sacrifice is known as the giving up of one s own interests or wishes in order to help others or to
advance a cause, which is shown excessively through the poem; Dancer, by Alden Nowlan. The poem
showcases to the readers that sometimes, limitations should be placed on altruistic movements for the
well being of an individual. Although, the question still remains; to what extent is an individual
willing to go when facing these situations?
Dancer by Alden Nowlan, is a poem that is constricted, but free. The poem creates a scenario of a
sport, which once delved in, is deconstructed on a deeper understanding. The poem is built through the
surroundings that are interpreted in the poem. The verbs of the stanzas provide the different levels of
emotions that the girl goes through. The poem begins at a rest the dusk of a new day, the start of a new
game. In the second stanza, the poem exceedingly warms up as the words pauses, then rears, and
throws are chosen; but in return,

Summary Of Butler s Speech Sounds By William Butler
As indicated in the quotation through the little boy s gesture of covering up Rye s mouth when she
spoke, communication is rare in the dystopian society that Butler s Speech Sounds took place in.
Communication was rare due to an illness that caused language impairment which triggered the loss of
skills such as reading and writing, and the loss of other intellectual abilities. It is indicated that due to
the illness, society broke down, as shown by the lack of vehicles and the dissolution of law
enforcement. Towards the beginning of the short story, fights erupt on the bus that Rye is in because of
a disagreement, and with no form of communication available to solve the issue, the men on the bus
resort to their fists. Eventually, the fight is broken up by an individual wearing a Los Angeles Police
Department uniform, who throws gas into the bus to disperse people out of it. After this, the man who
dispersed the crowd motioned to Rye to come with him, prompting the bystanders to group Rye with
him, and they started making gestures accusing Rye of sexually being with the man. It is telling that
even without a voice to speak, the bystanders automatically objectified Rye as a sexual object, and that
objectification could be done with gestures. Historically, the dissolution of a society tends to change
the power structures within it, here Butler shows how the association of women as sexual objects goes
beyond the power structures of society, and how it is inherent in the

A List Of The Best Shopping Cart Software For E Commerce...
There are various types of e commerce software, hosted, licensed, and Enterprise Resource Planning
(ERP). The size of the e commerce business is the best indicator of which ecommerce software type is
the best fit. ERP is intended for large businesses, licensed (hosted by your own business server) is
geared toward medium sized ecommerce shops, and hosted (where the software is hosted by the
developer), is recommended for very small or small businesses. I turned to Jasmine A. s article A list
of the Best Shopping Cart Software for E Commerce Websites for details on each ecommerce
software option. Based on Jasmine s article I learned immediately that we could eliminate the hosted
solution from the mix as Godiva.com is not a small shop, and hosted solutions do not integrate well
with other software. Additionally, the Godiva site requires customization of the shopping cart s source
code, which is not possible with the hosted option, and lastly, Godiva has more than five product types
sold on the site. In considering the licensed option, although you have control over the software and
you are able to customize to a point, Rachel Andrew of Smashing Magazine.com reminds us that
many open source licensed options force you to use their templates, additionally, they may force you
to turn on JavaScript in order for the shopping cart to function properly. If you are able to update the
script, when the licensed software is upgraded by the system, it may overwrite your changes.

The Drug Of Drug Addiction Essay
Watching my older brother struggle with drug addiction has taught me more in my life than anything
else. He was a smart kid with a good head on his shoulders. As he grew older he made some unwise
choices with regard to substance abuse that quickly turned into a full blown addiction lasting over five
years and landed him in and out of four different rehabs. He was striving to get clean, but every time
he took one step forward he fell three steps back. Taylor entered Drug Court, after finding himself in a

alternative sentence is state prison for the maximum term of your sentence. As Taylor took this
opportunity, he knew he had to be fully committed to his recovery or he would be faced with a 10 year
prison sentence. Commitment was not a problem; his life started to change for the better. He started
his own landscaping business, fell in love with a girl and seemed to be heading down the right road.
But as many do not understand, heroin retains such a ferocious grip on brain cells that relapses are part
of the recovery process. Though Taylor had every intention of getting clean, he struggled and he
relapsed on more than one occasion. The 10 year prison sentence

1.0 IDENTIFICATION AND ESTABLISHING OF THE OPPORTUNITY
The selected advertising campaign was done in the last year with a view of exploiting a sizable market
opportunity and which was able to bring a significant performance for Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd and to it
s one of the biggest brand Sunsilk . It is the introduction of the perfect straight variant to the market.

Dreamron currently carries a Straight Protect variant in its portfolio for chemically treated hair. The
brand has also grown by 810% (AC Nielsen) as at YTD Sep 2013. They are also actively driving their
salon agenda with a complete range of salon products.
While currently Pantene is on par with Dove in terms of price points, the brand could be considered a
threat for Sunsilk when taking in to account the localization plans which are rumored to take place
within an indefinite time period. It is expected to drop prices post localization in order to capture the
market (Kotler. et al, 2012).
The benefits offered by the product are not considered distinctive. Whilst consumers recognize the
unique positioning of The product, they associate the concept strengths more with the end benefits of
smooth , silky and shiny hair, over and above the distinctive straight hair message. To drive stronger
distinctiveness for the proposition the product could enhance it s straight hair benefit by linking to
frizz control , provided by the differentiating mode of action of controlling hair as it

german economy 2004-2011
Assessment: Germany 2011 Germany from 2004 until 2011, showed a positive trend with the GDP per
capita. From $29,684.33 in 2004, Germany boosted their GDP per capita up to $39,187.01 in 2011,
which is approximately a 50% increase. This shows that Germany managed to put its economy in an
upward trend, although the Eurozone was struggling with its economic growth, particularly during
2009 and 2010. Similarly, GNI per capita of Germany in 2004 was $29,938.63, yet by 2011, the GNI
per capita was $39,943.53. This again shows a positive trend overall, which shows that Germany has
been growing gradually as years passed with its economy. One thing which differs GNI from GDP is
that GNI involves overseas investments and foreigners earns in ... Show more content on

Moreover, the fact that the government kept its stability of tax revenue even during 2009 and 2010
when Eurozone crisis occurred, shows that Germany s economic health was still relatively good even
when crisis occurred around Europe. We assume that the tax revenue in 2011 was about 37%, seeing
the overall trend of tax revenue. As mentioned before, this means that Germany has had a stable
economic health throughout the 7 years, considering the fact that the tax revenue has not gone up or
down by a great number. Current account balance of payments was positive value throughout the 7
years, showing that the amount of exports from Germany exceeded the amount of imports. That shows
that country is making profit overall, by exporting and importing with other countries, yet exporting
great amount, enough to keep the country earning profits. Moreover, the fact that the current account
balance of payments went up from 4.6% to 5.7% shows that the country managed to widen the
difference between the amount of exports and imports even more, to bring more profit into Germany.
Germany did a fine job in keeping the unemployment rate low. In fact, Germany managed to cut the
unemployment rate by almost a half, from 10.5% in 2004, to 5.9% in 2011. This means that there are
more jobs available in Germany now than in 2004. According to the circular flow of income, this
means that there is more money going around, prospering the

Valley Forge Essay
Valley Forge: Quit or Stay When a person is in a stressful situation on instinct they have two options,
fight or flight. In war the same is true. War is not always bayonets and bullets, it s the decisions you
make during times of hardship. A soldier has to make the decision whether to keep fighting for what
they believe in no matter what the stakes or to flee. In December of 1777, George Washington and his
troops arrived at Valley Forge. Since the summer of 1775, all has gone well for the Continental Army.
More recently Washington was presumably unable to stop General Howe and his British soldiers from
claiming the national capital of Philadelphia. With Howe and his army of approximately 18,000
comfortably quartered in Philadelphia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am no longer fighting for myself, but for my nation and for my fallen comrades whose death must
not be in vain. Another reason I must re enlist is the fact that my government deserves my loyalty. The
Committee of Congress has stayed with us through much of the winter after arriving at Valley Forge a
few weeks ago and has given us hope (Document B). That hope has sparked within us a new flood of
encouragement and will power. When George Washington was talking to the 5 members of Congress,
he expressed the fact that we brave soldiers need help in our battle with Britain (Document B). Even
though it s cold, and we have threadbare clothing that are merely rags, and the Congress members are
all dressed in their finest, our spirit is still strong (Document B). Even Dr. Waldo stated that while
tending to our sick soldiers, he was surprised by the magnitude of cheerful willingness to proceed with
fighting for our cause (Document C). Dr. Waldo expected us to be down on our luck for having to
withstand the poor food, fatigue, cold weather, crowded huts, and smoky air quality which was due to
poor ventilation, but most soldiers were able to persevere through all of that hardship (Document C).
The Committee of Congress makes me feel like someone is listening to our needs. The general
supports us and the government cares about us, so I must support my government. Lastly, I am re

My Experience With My Own Life
There are personalities that come naturally, but many are nurtured through experiences one has.
Through my own life experiences from what I consider a decent, normal childhood into now a happy
grown adult. Many of my personalities have remained the same while other parts have changed as has
life changed especially since becoming a mother. Now, the experiences and personalities I ll further
describe are from my viewpoint and if you ask my friends or family members their opinions it may
change slightly. As a viewpoint is only depicted from the person who is describing it and their
perception of how the events or things occurred.
When I think of personalities that remained the same throughout my life span of 31 years thus far. As
far back as I can remember knowing I have had a positive outlook on life where I always found the
good in something no matter how bad the situation was and consider it my most prized part of my
personality. As a child, my parents got divorced at age 10 and I saw the emotional toll it took on my
little my brother not to see him every day. He was only age 8 at the time and him who adored my
father as a role model and he was able to keep in contact with my father. Where with me my father
wanted nothing to do it with me. I use to think each time he called to speak with my brother and not
me instead of being sad or angry, I would remember now my mother is happier and I have more time
with her and she was always the fun one who did all the vacations and did

Rome s Construction Of The Amphitheater
Amphitheater. Rome s construction of the amphitheater, began in the Second century AD (Figure 3;
Matova and Aliaj, 2006:280; Ponce de Leon, 2013:3; UNESCO, 2004:34. The arena and Roman baths
built during this period were centrally located within the city (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:571; Bowes
et al., 2003:382; Karaiskaj, 2004:13; UNESCO, 2004:34). Local topography played a part in deciding
where the stadium would be built. Roman engineers made use of a hillside on the northern part of the
arena, whereas the southern half of the auditorium was on lower ground. Roman vaults and piers held
up this section of the amphitheater (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:571; Bowes et al., 2003:382; Matova
and Aliaj, 2006:280). The southern, or lower side of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is believed that this amphitheater was able to hold 15,000 20,000 spectators, indicating Dyrrachium
s population to be approximately 30,000 during Roman rule (Matova and Aliaj, 2006:280; Molla,
2014:31; Ponce de Leon, 2013:3; Puka and Beshiri, 2011:6; UNESCO, 2004:34)
After Rome s decline in 378 AD (Wilkes, 1992:265), parts of the amphitheater were restructured and
used as chapels. The main sanctuary was built into the alcove, which originally housed the pulvinar
(elevated imperial box) and vomitorium. Byzantine mosaics and frescos indicate that these chapels
were created during the fifth century AD (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574 575; Isufi, 2006:11; Jacques,
1995:154; Karaiskaj, 2004:13; UNESCO, 2004:35 37). A second chapel and possible third were built
on the north side of the stadium (Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574; Bowes et al., 2003:392). Sometime
during the seventh century, the arena began to be used as a graveyard, known as the necropolis. There
are also several Byzantine art forms, dating from the ninth through eleventh centuries (Bowes and
Mitchell, 2009:581; Bowes et al., 2003:391 392; Jacques, 1995:154 155; UNESCO, 2004:36 37). At
some point during the Middle Ages, the cemetery ceased to be used by the inhabitants of Dyrrachium
(Bowes and Mitchell, 2009:574; Bowes et al., 2003:388 389).

Legalization Of Drugs
Nonetheless, does legalization of illegal products, such as drugs, diminish black market activity?
James Q. Wilson, a former professor at UCLA and Harvard, stated in one of his columns Our federal
drug laws are irrational, readers then demanded him that we should solve this problem by legalizing
drugs (Wilson). It would be so simple and easy if the legalization of drugs could only work to solve
our nation s black market drug problem. However, this has not worked in any of the cases that have
been tried. In Colorado, where marijuana is legal, growers were growing marijuana and shipping it to
other states where it is illegal. Even though it is legal in nine states, these growers are still selling it on
the black market to avoid the legal regulation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our Government should not legalize illegal black market drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and
methamphetamine because it does not diminish the black market s drug organization, it only makes it
easier for them to not get caught and easier for the population to access these drugs.
If legalization of dangerous drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin occurs, they will
become cheaper to buy and that will make it so much easier for users to get the product. Now if illegal
drugs became legal and the price becomes cheaper, anybody could get these highly dangerous drugs.
Many of the American population would oppose this idea because it is a possible harm to their lives
and others. While the black market sells these chemicals for more money, the prices there are also
becoming cheaper. Moreover, many who think that legalization will stop the black market from selling
products because the price is lower is wrong, that is not the case. In Colorado, marijuana growers were
caught selling marijuana to people in states where the drug is illegal. They do this to avoid the

The Little Green Toy Box is competitively at an advantage by having its own store front, being
entirely dedicated to environmentally friendliness, and by having a visually appealing store front and
product design. It is at a disadvantage since it does not have an established reputation, is low in
expertise, and does not have as broad a business presence as its competitors.
Niche
Now that you have systematically analyzed your industry, your product, your customers, and the
competition, you should have a clear picture of where your company fits into the world. In one short
paragraph, define your niche, your unique corner of the market. Our corner of the market is the
environmentally conscious families and individuals who are seeking to expand their consciousness to
all aspects of life. We are locally produced and locally sold which also appeals to consumers who wish
to support the local economy. Our company falls below the big box stores in the hierarchy of the toy
business, but our green products set us apart from the generic competitors, and our local storefront
provides an accessibility not present in our online competitors.

The Necklace Character Analysis
What would you do if you were in Loisel s shoes the night of the ball? Loisel in The Necklace has
three distinct traits; greed, selfishness, and insecurity. Loisel, is an interesting character with many
traits. The first trait that stands out was greediness in Loisel. She is married to a rich man that works in
the Department of Education. One night after work the husband came home with an invitation to a
ball. Despite his pride when he came with the invitation, she opened it and threw the invitation on the
table with annoyance, saying What do you want me to do with that? She was aggravated with the fact
she can t go because she did not have anything to wear and didn t want to look poor in front of all the
rich women. After discussing the invitation, she asked her husband What do you want me to put on
my back to go there? He says But the dress in which you go to the theater. That looks very well to me.
He stops resisting when she began crying about not having anything to wear. As she cries, he asks how
much would this cost, a proper dress, which would do on other occasions; something very simple? ,
consequently giving in to her greediness to buy her a new dress. After providing her with a nice dress
she became even greedier, desiring a new necklace. Her husband replied, You will wear some natural
flowers. They are very stylish this time of the year. For ten francs you will have two or three
magnificent roses. Her husband tries to give her as much as he can but

Case Study Superdrug
SUPERDRUG Case Superdrug has more than 700 stores in United Kingdom having more than 6,000
product lines. The primary motive of CPFR strategy was to decrease inventory so as to match the
sales, improve forecasting and maintain a healthy relationship with Johnson Johnson (its trading
partner because the company culture was similar to them). A blueprint of all the processes and
responsibilities of the partner were listed down by Superdrug so as to align the strategy of Superdrug
with J J with the CPFR process. A joint business plan or agreement was signed between the companies
in 2000. Collaboration was done by comparing the Sales forecast of Superdrug with the Order forecast
of J J. The collaboration process usually takes a week to complete. The IT department of both the
organizations validate the Data and send them through a Software known as Syncra . Then a
conference call was made by the Supply Chain Department of both the companies and reached to a
forecast number. The project manager would review the forecast and make further changes which is
implemented by the IT department and the process would repeat again. The results of using CPFR

  • 2. Tidal Restoration Estuarine environments are one of the most productive ecosystems on earth. Not only do they provide measureable environmental benefits, but social and economic benefits. Salt marshes provide habitat and serve as food resources for various wildlife such as shellfish, fish, and birds. They also act as nurseries for commercially and recreationally important shell and fin fisheries. Nearby land and waterbodies are protected from flooding, storm surges, shoreline stabilization, nutrient absorption, and water quality improvement. Wetlands and marshes not only provide the environmental aspects just mentioned, they also serve as an educational and recreational opportunity for the community. For healthy survival, salt marsh plant species require proper tidal fluctuation. Over past of years, many salt marsh habitats have been lost to filling, diking, or draining. New England has lost an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though reversing massive environmental damage may abide as impossible, over long term periods, reversal of tidal restriction and restoration of the ecosystem is plausible. The main objectives for proper tidal flow restoration are to eliminate invasive plants growing in the area, restore proper soil, oxygen, and water levels and quality, mosquito control, reduce all blockages to return proper flow, and restore the native population of organisms. Specific materials such as installing modified tide gates or bidirectional flow tide gates, such as self regulating tide gates (SRT) if needed, rather than conventional tide gates, can improve drainage conditions, increase saline tidal flow, help control Phragmites, decrease fire hazards and mosquito breeding, restore normal saltmarsh biotic conditions, and protect adjacent development from flooding (Reiner 2011). Proper restoration should allow a habitat to act as the productive salt marsh it once ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Project Proposal ( Option 3 ) Project Proposal (option 3) Name: Yao Yang UNI: yy2641 The common theme my project will be focuses on is K means clustering. The k means clustering problem can be described as following: Given a set of n data points in d dimensional space R^d and an integer k. Find a set of k points/centers in R^d, such that the mean squared distance from each data point to its nearest centre (one of the k centers) is minimized. Paper Summaries: A local search approximation algorithm for k means clustering (2004) The paper considered whether there exists a simple and practical approximation algorithm for k means clustering. It brings up the classical tradeoff between run time and approximation factor. A local improvement heuristic based on swapping centers in and out that yields a (9 + ϵ) approximation algorithm is presented. The paper also shows that any approach based on performing a fixed number of swaps achieves an approximation factor of at least (9 ϵ) in all sufficiently high dimensions by providing example. In summary, the approximation factor is almost tight for algorithms based on methods that perform fixed number swaps as shown by the paper. The effectiveness of Lloyd type methods for the k means problem (2006) This paper show that if the data satisfies a natural condition on separation/clusterability, then a near optimal clustering result can be expected as various Lloyd style methods would have great performance in such setting. The major algorithmic contribution from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Characteristics of evil are all around us in our everyday lives. political leaders, celebrities, People we idolize show characteristics of evil. Even small insignificant roles in society hold certain evils in their motives. Throughout this story these evils were for once boldly stated for all to understand. The games the boys play, the fire they set, and their rescue, in the Lord of the flies shows the theme that evil is inside every man. In many instances in the book the boys show the true evils of themselves. Greed, Cruelty, and Irony is key to the entire story. Perhaps most complex of all is Emily s portrayal of Catherine Earnshaw as a victim and a victimizer. With such qualities, Catherine s character was violently at odds with ideals of the Victorian womanhood. Namely, that a woman should be a passive, obedient, and an angel in the house. (Towheed, 2012). Indeed, not major characteristics of Catherine Earnshaw. However, while being a victimizer, Catherine s brutality could be justified in a way that would not affect one s own sympathizes for her. Notably, Catherine s first victim is herself. Her character was marked by a divided self, an idea that was emphasized by Helene Moglen (1971). MRS agar was developed by de Man, Rogosa and Sharpe who decided it was best to have a different media which can be used for cultivating bacteria, this media is nonselective and lactobacillus can grow on it, they found out that acetate and citrate helps the growth of lactobacillus (De MAN, ROGOSA, and SHARPE, 1960). Turning open the lid of the plastic container, I reached inside and took out a pinch of the musty smelling fish food flakes. I sprinkled the flakes over the water in the fish tank and watched as the 5 fish swam up, gulping up the thin copper, crimson, and mahogany colored flakes. I watched until the fish swam away, finished with their meal. I then closed the hatch, put away and closed the jar of fish food, and walked out of my room. Feeding time was over. Just a couple days ago, I had been at Petsmart with my family. The fish tanks at Petsmart were all lined up against the walls, illuminated by blue and violet lights. Each fish tank held fish of all kinds of different shapes, colors, and sizes. My family had bought 5 glimmering fish, a bag of fish care supplies, and when we got home, my mom and dad took the old fish tank we had in our garage, and much to my delight, set it up in my room, on top of a low bookcase. One day, me and my mom both saw something odd in the fish tank.. One of the fish, a huge fish with silver colored scales, was pecking at some of the smaller fish, causing a couple of their scales to fall off and drift around in the water. Me and my sister started calling that fish the, mean fish. Later, I walked in my room to see that the mean fish was now stuck inside a fishbowl! • 19. Analysis Of Dancer By Alden Nowlan Frequently in life, human beings go through obstacles that shape and reform who they are. Achieving satisfaction in life is the way individuals evaluate their personal lives, directions and the decisions they make in the future. Through the decisions that are made, individuals are altered and reformed. While our decisions and situations take an effect they are rather led by a purpose. Oftentimes, limitations and existence of self sacrifice are built on the ideas of self control and altruism. Self sacrifice is known as the giving up of one s own interests or wishes in order to help others or to advance a cause, which is shown excessively through the poem; Dancer, by Alden Nowlan. The poem showcases to the readers that sometimes, limitations should be placed on altruistic movements for the well being of an individual. Although, the question still remains; to what extent is an individual willing to go when facing these situations? Dancer by Alden Nowlan, is a poem that is constricted, but free. The poem creates a scenario of a sport, which once delved in, is deconstructed on a deeper understanding. The poem is built through the surroundings that are interpreted in the poem. The verbs of the stanzas provide the different levels of emotions that the girl goes through. The poem begins at a rest the dusk of a new day, the start of a new game. • 20. Summary Of Butler s Speech Sounds By William Butler As indicated in the quotation through the little boy s gesture of covering up Rye s mouth when she spoke, communication is rare in the dystopian society that Butler s Speech Sounds took place in. Communication was rare due to an illness that caused language impairment which triggered the loss of skills such as reading and writing, and the loss of other intellectual abilities. It is indicated that due to the illness, society broke down, as shown by the lack of vehicles and the dissolution of law enforcement. Towards the beginning of the short story, fights erupt on the bus that Rye is in because of a disagreement, and with no form of communication available to solve the issue, the men on the bus resort to their fists. Eventually, the fight is broken up by an individual wearing a Los Angeles Police Department uniform, who throws gas into the bus to disperse people out of it. After this, the man who dispersed the crowd motioned to Rye to come with him, prompting the bystanders to group Rye with him, and they started making gestures accusing Rye of sexually being with the man. It is telling that even without a voice to speak, the bystanders automatically objectified Rye as a sexual object, and that objectification could be done with gestures. Historically, the dissolution of a society tends to change the power structures within it, here Butler shows how the association of women as sexual objects goes beyond the power structures of society, and how it is inherent in the ... The size of the e commerce business is the best indicator of which ecommerce software type is the best fit. ERP is intended for large businesses, licensed (hosted by your own business server) is geared toward medium sized ecommerce shops, and hosted (where the software is hosted by the developer), is recommended for very small or small businesses. I turned to Jasmine A. s article A list of the Best Shopping Cart Software for E Commerce Websites for details on each ecommerce software option. Based on Jasmine s article I learned immediately that we could eliminate the hosted solution from the mix as Godiva.com is not a small shop, and hosted solutions do not integrate well with other software. Additionally, the Godiva site requires customization of the shopping cart s source code, which is not possible with the hosted option, and lastly, Godiva has more than five product types sold on the site. In considering the licensed option, although you have control over the software and you are able to customize to a point, Rachel Andrew of Smashing Magazine.com reminds us that many open source licensed options force you to use their templates, additionally, they may force you to turn on JavaScript in order for the shopping cart to function properly. If you are able to update the script, when the licensed software is upgraded by the system, it may overwrite your changes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. The Drug Of Drug Addiction Essay Watching my older brother struggle with drug addiction has taught me more in my life than anything else. He was a smart kid with a good head on his shoulders. As he grew older he made some unwise choices with regard to substance abuse that quickly turned into a full blown addiction lasting over five years and landed him in and out of four different rehabs. He was striving to get clean, but every time he took one step forward he fell three steps back. Taylor entered Drug Court, after finding himself in a lot of trouble with the law, due to drug related incidents. Drug Court is a state run program offered to non violent felony offenders suffering from the disease of addiction. If you successfully complete the 3 5 year program, charges can be expunged immediately. But if you fail to complete the program, your alternative sentence is state prison for the maximum term of your sentence. As Taylor took this opportunity, he knew he had to be fully committed to his recovery or he would be faced with a 10 year prison sentence. Commitment was not a problem; his life started to change for the better. He started his own landscaping business, fell in love with a girl and seemed to be heading down the right road. But as many do not understand, heroin retains such a ferocious grip on brain cells that relapses are part of the recovery process.
