The elements common to all crimes are mens rea meaning guilty mind and actus rea meaning the

The UCR is a listing of incidents in a police jurisdiction that are forwarded to Ottawa and
grouped together to get a total of the number of crimes reported in Canada. Some criticisms of
the UCR are that many incidents are never reported. The NCVS doesn t involve police or enter
official stats. It measures the extent of crimes by focusing on the victims. Some criticisms of the
NCVS is that some victims may fail to report or lie and it does not measure victimless crimes such

committing a crime because of fear of punishment.

Introduction
Does the relationship between the percent of state legislators who are women influence the policies
and laws that are passed in states? And, if so, what are the important areas that women exert greater
influence over? Is it abortion laws? Religiosity? Unemployment rates?
These are the questions that I will seek to answer throughout this research paper. Specifically, there
will be two main objectives: whether or not certain attributes of a state constituency contribute
negatively or positively in regards to the amount of seats held by women, and, if these attributes
do impact in a positive or negative manner, how big of an impact, once elected, do these women
exert power on a variety of issues.
I believe that not only would it be interesting to find out whether or not certain variables determine
a states legislature gender make up, but I think it is also important to know how big of an impact,
if there is an impact at all, that women legislatures have across a variety of issues and how their
views on these issues impact policy making decisions. We can use these variables to determine
how to better help increase gender equality and representation in the long run, especially with how

to live out the American Dream , an idea that the U.S. will provide people with a better life.

the life of the vast majority of people within the United States. During the time when this book was

12 Step Program Group Visit For this assignment, I chose to attend an open group meeting for
Overeaters Anonymous on 6/29/2015. The group participates in the H.O.W. program of Overeaters
Anonymous. H.O.W. stands for the principles of honesty, open mindedness, and willingness. The
meeting took place at St. Andrew s Episcopal Church, located at 2535 East Broadway St. in
