Listening to teachers: implications for education and digitalJisc
Chair: Lawrie Phipps, senior co-design manager, Jisc.
Speakers:
Donna Lanclos, anthropologist consultant
Nikki Rivers, lecturer in English literature, University of Gloucestershire
Sarah Davies, director of education innovation, University of Bristol
If we are to bring about lasting changes around the use of technology in teaching and learning in colleges and universities, we need to understand the practices that staff undertake and the challenges they face. Effective and sustained change comes from a place of working in service to pedagogies, and practices that support and surround learning and teaching.
This session discusses how teaching behaviours impact on digital and how digital is impacting on teaching behaviours. This session is the culmination of a 12-month Jisc study around teaching and next generation digital learning environments.
From Jisc's student experience experts group meeting in Birmingham on 21 April 2016.

Since the publication of the Further Education Learning Technology Action Group (FELTAG) report, many colleges and providers have embraced the FELTAG agenda and worked towards making its recommendations a reality.
In this session we will hear from a panel of leaders and partners that have driven their own FELTAG initiatives and also discuss:
What has the sector or your college achieved through FELTAG? What are the current challenges sector faces? What are the possible solutions? What are Jisc and its partners doing to support colleges and providers going forward?

The Design of Empowering and Inspirational Open Online Learning ExperiencesGeorge Veletsianos
While conversations in the academic world and the mass media continue to focus on the benefits, challenges, opportunities, and future of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), emerging empirical evidence suggests that the realities of open online learning do not fully match the hopes of open online learning (Veletsianos, 2013). One reason that these hopes remain unrealized appears to be the belief that education is a product that can be packaged, automated, and delivered. This perspective allows for massiveness and efficient delivery, but fosters the development of digital learning environments that fail to engender empowering and inspirational learning experiences. In this presentation, I discussed what our research into open learning experiences reveals about inspiration and empowerment.

Conducting Research in Blended and Online EducationTanya Joosten
A workshop at #WCET15 in Denver, CO
This hands-on workshop consists of practice-based research planning activities to help you prepare for conducting research at the course or program level. Specifically, we will utilize the distance education research model developed by the National Research Center for Distance Education and Technological Advancements (DETA) to guide the development of research plans for blended and online. Attendees will walk away with a research agenda and the necessary tools to help them conduct research on their campus as part of the National DETA Research Center initiative. The DETA Center looks to identify and evaluate effective course and institutional practices in online learning (including competency-based education) for underrepresented individuals (i.e., economically disadvantaged, adult learners, disabled) through rigorous research. This workshop will prepare attendees to take a plan back to their own institution to successfully gather research on blended and online teaching and learning. For more on DETA, visit http://www.uwm.edu/deta. The workshop will span two concurrent session blocks- part I, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. and part II, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Bring your laptop or mobile device.

Roundtable discussion between SLN/SUNY experienced online faculty and new online faculty from INACAP as part of the State University of New York and the Technological University of Chile INACAP (UTC-INACAP) agreement to further strengthen and broaden international opportunities for students and faculty of both systems. more info: http://tinyurl.com/ylq3rxl
The "roundtable" in the SLN online fauclty development process, marks the transition from online course design to online course delivery. Conducted just prior to the first "go live" date, it gives new online faculty the opportunity to interact with experienced online faculty to benefit from their tips and lessons learned. This session facilitated by an experienced online instructional designer also serves as an opportunity for veteran online faculty to share experiences and network with each other is equally, which is vital to the SUNY community of experienced online instructors.

Conducting Research on Blended and Online Education
October 14, 2015 - 8:30am
Lead Presenter: Tanya Joosten (University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, USA)
Nori Barajas-Murphy (University of La Verne, USA)
Track: Learning Effectiveness
Pre-Conference Workshop
Location: Oceanic 7
Session Duration: 3 Hours
Pre-Conference Workshop Session 3
This workshop consists of practice-based research planning activities to help you prepare for conducting research at the course or program level.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) established a National Distance Education and Technological Advancement (DETA) Research Center in 2014 to conduct cross-institutional data collection with 2-year and 4-year Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) funded by the U.S. Department of Education Fund for Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE). UWM has partnered with the University of Wisconsin System, UW-Extension, Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI), and leaders across the nation to develop a research model. This model is to promote student access and success through evidence-based online learning practices and learning technologies.
The DETA Center looks to identify and evaluate effective course and institutional practices in online learning (including competency-based education) for underrepresented individuals (i.e., economically disadvantaged, adult learners, disabled) through rigorous research. Furthermore, although the research currently is focused on postsecondary U.S. institutions, the DETA Center looks to advance their work in K-12 and internationally -- all are welcome!
This workshop will prepare attendees to take a plan back to their own institution to successfully gather research on blended and online teaching and learning.
For more on DETA, visit http://www.uwm.edu/deta.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
it describes the bony anatomy including the femoral head , acetabulum, labrum . also discusses the capsule , ligaments . muscle that act on the hip joint and the range of motion are outlined. factors affecting hip joint stability and weight transmission through the joint are summarized.
Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.
Thinking of getting a dog? Be aware that breeds like Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, and German Shepherds can be loyal and dangerous. Proper training and socialization are crucial to preventing aggressive behaviors. Ensure safety by understanding their needs and always supervising interactions. Stay safe, and enjoy your furry friends!
How to Build a Module in Odoo 17 Using the Scaffold MethodCeline George
Odoo provides an option for creating a module by using a single line command. By using this command the user can make a whole structure of a module. It is very easy for a beginner to make a module. There is no need to make each file manually. This slide will show how to create a module using the scaffold method.

I think from this slide you can talk a general update that might include the following:Prospective Students: The Open SUNY website has been live for about a month now and we’ve seen 11k+ unique visitors, which is pretty good considering that’s solely based on press coverage. Marketing is something that’s to come in the next few months.Current Student Supports: The 24/7 Help Desk is up and running and we are working on getting the word out to campuses on how to utilize the service. Smarter Measure is up and running to help gauge student readiness. We’re working to get online tutoring up for the Summer semester. Faculty Support: We’ve seen more than 750 applications for roles in the COTE. Some have even been from out of state institutions, which is cool and shows that there’s lots of interest in higher ed. around what we’re doing with Open SUNY. Also, the commons now has federated identity management incorporated. The commons has supported 1,100 faculty in discussions on seamless transfer too. Academic Initiatives: Now that we’re setting up meetings with campus coordinators, we will be asking them for feedback on the process to make sure this is the best use of everyone’s time and energy in working toward our collective goals. Institutional Readiness: More than 8 campuses have signed up for institutional readiness assessments, and a bigger push to make campuses aware of the service is coming soon.
Here are the work streams staff will be aligning with going forward.
COTE teams recently had reporting sessions with Chancellor and Provost and are continuing their work in the coming months. Some with new teams and some with some carry over membership.
Orange are items we have up and live now, and blue are items that are expected to be up and running Summer 2014
We don’t want competing brands, so we’re consolidating and transitioning the SLN website to the Open SUNY website since it’s such a high priority effort.
The SLN services you have come to know and trust will continue, but some things will change as we reorganize under Open SUNY.
Short term, attainable, progress
Long term, maybe unattainable, but we want big ideas here.
