Results of final questionnaire
Olivia Jake and Gainluca
 Q1- Are you interested in new unsigned music and unknown acts?
Yes
No
 This question enabled us to identify if the person in question had an interest in our
genre and would therefore offer useful information. Consequently all 50 people who
filled in the survey answered positively to the this question. Otherwise through the
online questionnaire they were not allowed to move forward to other questions or
we politely told them they were not needed.

Q2- Do you have a greater interest in the music (with regards to a band) or behind the scenes
more personal action ?
 Musical
 Personal
The results of this question enabled us to tailor the information received to suit the target audience.
It is important that within our music documentary we provide the audience members with content
which will interest them and will make the documentary successful.
The results show that people have a greater interest in the musical element of a documentary
however it is also important to create variety and show personal viewpoints and perspectives within
our documentary. We will be looking to cross between the two within our documentary. There were 7
points between the two therefore this would imply that the target audience wouldn’t be put off by a
mix of the two filmed elements together which is what we had hoped for the production.

3.Have you watched music documentaries previously?
Yes
No
This question enabled us to establish how familiar our audience are with music documentary's. The
results of this question have the potential to make us reconsider the target audience. It was
important within this question that we gained posative feedback to ensure the viability of the music
documentury.
The results of the questionnaire show that the majority of our audience do have an interest in music
documentary's which is positive feedback for our production, therefore no changes will need to be
made to the target audience. Although we would expect that are audience would be within a low
income bracket, we would expect that they are educated within this particular genre of unknown
music. Which stereotypically attracts audience members who have a particularly strong interest in
our genre.

Yes
No
The results of this question is also positive as it shows that our audience, who stereotypically a have
a more sophisticated focus on the music a band makes. Also enjoy music documentary's. This is
positive and will mean no changed need to be made to the audience or type of documentary.

5. What form of narrative presentation most appeals to you?
 Voice over narration
 Text-based narration
 No narration
Within this question we wanted to identify what the audience members preferences where, with
regards to the way in which added information is provided throughout the documentary. As Narration
is conventional for documentary's, whilst doing genre and form research this became obvious to our
team.
The results provided a more varied response, therefore within our production we will have to look
into a variety of different methods and further research into narrative types in documentaries.
However the results do show that the audience would like some form of narration throughout the
documentary.

6. Within the poster, which will be used to advertise the documentary, which colour scheme
most appeals?
 Black and white
 Feminine colors (Pinks)
 Masculine colors (darker shades)
Within this question we were looking to find information which could be applied to the ancillary
products. The results of this question will provide us with information regarding the favored color
scheme of our target audience. The results show that our audience favored masculine colors or
Black and white. Consequently we will not be including stereotypically female colors within the
ancillary products and production. This was expected however the color scheme we will look to
keep in keeping with the male dominated genre. Throughout the genre and form research it was
difficult to establish a pattern with one particular color, therefore we be looking to use one of the
above associated colors.

7. Would you prefer this poster to be iconography or imagery associated with the bands?
 Images
 Iconography
Within the research we noticed a trend for the use of iconography within film posters. However
commonly images are used. Images within the questionnaire were Cleary more popular therefore
we will conform to this stereotypical use of images. Within the ancillary we will be looking to use
images to front the film poster and add additional images to our written piece.
Within our piece we will be looking to mix iconography with imagery, to provide a unique look and to
connate the concept that is the artists are unsigned.

8. In an article discussing the production, would you rather it be focused around
text or pictures?
 Text-based
 Picture-based
This question looked to provide us with information regarding what people want the
focus to be within a production. The results show that our audience have a greater
interest in images within the production, this will be reflected within the ancillary
products.
Within our ancillary text is important as the article will be within an educational
magazine, therefore we will look to change the presentation and mix it with images.

information regarding the bands) or review of a music set?
 Extend

the bands. This was expected as it provides audience members with additional
information regarding a band and how there performance was.

14. Which type of house style would you prefer for the
educational/informative magazine?
 - Formal, sophisticated
 -Informal, use of abbreviations
Within our target audience there is potential for a large difference in

The results indicated that this was the better choice to appeal to the
