Through producing a music magazine, the student learned skills in Photoshop, InDesign, and photography. Prior experience with Photoshop and InDesign proved limited for magazine layout. Photoshop was too restrictive for cover design while InDesign allowed flexibility with images and boxes. Photography involved reviewing front covers and spreads to determine needed shots. Photoshop was used to remove backgrounds, edit images, and add effects like shadows and glows. InDesign skills like setting up double page spreads and inserting text boxes improved over the course of the project.
