The basic principle of the rule of thirds is splitting the image into
thirds, so that the image has 9 squares. The points of interest
within the image should sit within the frame of 9 squares. The
theory is that if you place points of interest in the intersections
or along the lines that your photo becomes more balanced. We
will be applying the rule of thirds to our own images. We have
then looked to apply the rule of 3rd's to a real life situation in
order to get a powerful image. We needed to get the face of the
model used within the images along the intersections. We will be
looking to apply the rule of thirds to; the background image of
the film poster and within the montage images. We will also look
to apply the rule of thirds within the Close-up shots in the
documentary.
