- 1. Crash This name crash is one of the options because it accurately represents the genre rock because you hear this sound a lot in rock music. Using onomatopoeia works well because although it may appear childish, the harsh words and sounds makes the audience a bit older. Also, in rock music a few years ago it was a thing for artists to smash their guitars and so “crash” could symbolize this too. Bang crunch boom buzz Splatter I have chosen Splatter because it symbolises mess and something unclean. Rock music has rebellious lyrics and the mass of live instruments used could be described as a mess of sound. Splatter represents the genre of rock because it is messy sometimes. The plosive sounds because of the ‘p’ in the word means the word sounds harsher and more emphasised when said too. clunk Roar Roar is an option because it uses onomatopoeia to signify the sounds that the genre makes. Rock music is loud and could be described as a roar of instruments. I think this would appeal to the target audience too because the world has a rougher meaning and will imply the genre well.
