The document is the final examination for an English for Specific Purposes course analyzing an English syllabus used at the State University of Yogyakarta's Faculty of Engineering. It begins with an introduction and thanks. Section I describes what a syllabus is and its components. Section II analyzes the specific syllabus, outlining its objectives, competencies, assessment criteria, course schedule, and materials. It concludes by connecting the syllabus to the vocational engineering programs.
This presentation is an introduction to some classic definitions and concepts in second language Acquisition. It is part of the seminar on applied linguistics offered at Universidad del Valle.
Communicative Language Teaching is the cornerstone for approaches that have shifted from a grammar-based language view to a functional view of language where communication is the main objective. Such approaches are CBI (Content-based instruction) and TBI (Task-based instruction). Today, both CBI and TBI are the leading approaches most teachers are currently using to teach a second/foreign language around the world. Both approaches have been proven to be effective, and the most important thing is that students are truly learning to use language to communicate their ideas to different audiences.

it results from processing,
which is best if varied in nature.

This brilliant presentation was made by my two friends Gorakhnath Gangane and Mahesh Babu after returning from Cambridge University Regional Training College, London, having done their CELTA from there, getting a CELTA degree that is the most prestigious one in the whole world. The presentation is about ELT, EFL and ESL and ELL and is brilliant in its accuracy. It also has some suggestion and structural inputs from me.. Gorakhnath and Mahesh are language instructors in Jazan University Saudi Arabia, and I am an Assistant Professor here.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Syllabus is an arrangement plan that regulates the activities of teaching and classroom
management, and assessment of learning outcomes of a course. This syllabus is part of the
curriculum as a translation of Competence Standard and Basic Competence into their
teaching, learning activities, and indicators of achievement of competencies for the
assessment of learning outcomes. Thus the development of this syllabus should at least be

learners, how to establish these competencies, and how do I know that the learners have
had the competence. This syllabus will be very useful as a guide for teachers because it
contains the instructions as a whole regarding the purpose and scope of the material to be
learned by the learners. Moreover, it also explains about teaching and learning activities,
media, and the evaluation should be used in the process of learning to the learners. With
reference to the syllabus teachers are expected to be able to teach better, without worry
about going out of the purpose, scope materials, teaching and learning strategies, or get out
of the evaluation system should be.

16. Connectedness between the syllabus of English used in the Faculty of Engineering, State
University of Yogyakarta with all technical vocational courses.
In my opinion, the syllabus of English used in the Faculty of Engineering, State
University of Yogyakarta with all technical vocational courses have connectedness. Why?
Because of all the material compiled on the syllabus of English used in the Faculty of
Engineering, State University of Yogyakarta, always concerned about the technical training
material. In accordance with the syllabus of English used in the Faculty of Engineering, State
University of Yogyakarta, the entire English learning materials to support learning technical
training there. All the material that is taught to support the ability of students to be capable of
reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar related to the field of technical training. So
I think this syllabus is very suitable because it can support students' ability in English,
especially with regard to their vocational fields.
