Film Opening Title Sequence Proposal
Film Genre (type of film and
your reasons for choosing this
genre?)
For the genre I have chosen horror as it is my favourite genre, if I
was to choose a film personally it would be a horror. Also I find
that it is the most interesting genre. Another thing is, is that it is
quite easy to come up with an idea for a horror film even if you’re
looking at existing films, you can still be unique but with lots of
inspiration.
Synopsis of Idea (visual content
– style, use of colour, settings,
props, costumes, lighting etc)
The visual content will have low key lighting to set the mood of
the opening sequence. It will also have tense slow music to make
the audience want to keep watching and to build up tension. The
setting will be in a small garden of a normal family home. The
props that I will use will be general conventions of a horror film
such as knifes and masks etc…
The colour of the sequence will be dark but not pitch black; just as
the evening comes I will film the sequence. The camera shots I will
use are static, pan and tracking shots as these are usually what
get used in the opening sequence of a horror film.
Target Audience?
(demographic NOT age range)
My target audience will be aimed at students/ teenagers. I chose
this certain audience because horror films usually attract that
type of age and I feel like teens are more interested in this specific
genre. My opening sequence will be aimed at any race, religion
and gender as it gives everyone an opportunity to watch it.
How will your project meet the
needs of your target audience?
I will meet the needs of my target audience by finding out by
doing a questionnaire on what type of colours they prefer and
what type of music they would like to hear in my project, then I
will go away and do what they want to ensure they will be happy
and interested in what I have done. I will also make sure the
filming is right for the audience and not too scary/ jumpy which
would be aimed at older people, and also not too silly which
would be aimed at younger audience.

Film Opening Title Sequence Proposal
What will you film opening
title credits look like? (How will
they appear on screen? Where
will they be positioned? How
will they animate? What style
of font/typography?)
My film opening credits will be big bold letters first of all
appearing on screen as the title, then the producer, executive
producer and cast and crew will be appearing on the screen in
normal letters but with a different font which will look quite scary
to watch the genre. The words will be cutting in and then fading
out slower so people have the chance to read what comes up but
so it’s not on screen for too long. The film title will be directly in
the centre of the screen whereas the other credits will be in the
centre but lower down the screen so they aren’t covering up the
filming going on behind. The font will be like so…
