Film Opening Title Sequence Proposal
Kendell Burgess
Film Genre (type of film and
your reasons for choosing this
genre?)
The genre of my film opening title sequence is a slasher horror.
This genre appeals to me because of its dark nature and
numerous different types of villains and characters in the
different films.
Synopsis of Idea (visual content
– style, use of colour, settings,
props, costumes, lighting etc.)
I am going to be using mostly dark colours and lighting throughout
the title sequence to keep with the dark nature of the title
sequence and the films I am using as inspiration to help with what
I’m shooting. The settings will be in a forest, cemetery and an
alley way type thing. Because of the fast pace of my sequence
there will be a lot of cutting from one shot to another. My title
sequence is a slasher horror so a knife will be the main weapon
used. You don’t actually see someone getting stabbed; it’s mostly
a chase sequence, cutting between the chase and bits of the
killers mask though you don’t actually see the killer killing anyone.
Target Audience?
(demographic NOT age range)
The target audience for my title sequence will be late teens and
young adults, both male and female.
How will your project meet the
needs of your target audience?
In slasher horror films you expect to see blood, killings, a knife
being used by the killer, victims, scenes being able to make you
scared and make you jump, sometimes you see a masked killer
who you don’t really know what their intentions are. Because this
is what you expect to see, I intend to use most of these in my title
sequence.
What will you film opening
title credits look like? (How will
they appear on screen? Where
will they be positioned? How
will they animate? What style
of font/typography?)
My film opening credits will appear on screen for a brief amount
of time, they will be positioned more off to the side rather than
right in the middle of the screen. The titles will mainly fade on and
off the screen in a bold font.
