Film Opening Title Sequence Proposal
Film Genre (type of film and
your reasons for choosing this
genre?)
Adam Grundy
I have chosen to do a horror film because it is one of my favourite
types of genres and every idea stands out from the rest. Though I
have chosen to do the sub-genre “Slasher-Horror”, my favourite
horror series is saw and since they are slasher-horror, it gave me the
idea for my film opening title.
Synopsis of Idea (visual content
– style, use of colour, settings,
props, costumes, lighting etc.)
As shown in the picture above, all through the scene it is going to be
dark and with a low lighting. This would make the scene intense as
within the night, as nobody would notice the villain. First shot would
include the antagonist’s feet as he walks along the street at night,
this would be used to hide the characters identity and not give
anything away. The sound of his footsteps would continue to play
throughout the credits until the next shot of the antagonist. Most of
the lighting would either been from a light lamp or from the lights at
night as this would create tension within the scene. There may be
some gore in this opening but if it were to be used in the scene, it
would be used on the knifes and maybe on some of the props but
nothing else, The reason the blood wouldn’t be on his clothes is
because he would be wearing new clothes, no villain wears the
blood stained clothes as it gives their cover away. The props to be
included in the movie would include sheets of writing and pictures
relating to the plot, mainly of the antagonists victims and targets on
who he would plot to kill. This may also include news articles
relating to today’s topics, to show the audience that he knows what
is going on in news and then use it to his advantage, Knifes would
also be used to stick to the sub-genre/genre, though no scenes of
the knifes being used against anyone will be used in the opening.
There will only be costume that would catch the eye of the
audience, this would be the villains costume of the gas-mask and the
grey suit, the idea of the suit came from my enthusiasm for
waistcoats. I thought of the idea since it is very unique and has never
been done before (or very rarely) so that’s when I came up for the
idea of the antagonist. I’m including the camera shots: Track, Pan,
High and low angle and close ups, I have chosen these because they
work the most effective with this specific type of genre as it would
be able to capture the most in the scene with expressions.
Target Audience?
(demographic NOT age range)
My film is aimed at students and above, so they are more mature
enough than people in high school and below. Though I doubt It may
appeal to the elderly but if they want to watch it they can. I also
think it may appeal to both genders as there are different types of
people in genders, some that love horrors and some that hate

horrors so that is where I am aiming it at.
How will your project meet the
needs of your target audience?
My project will meet the needs of the target audience by not going
of subject, because I am making a horror title sequence I am going
to want to keep I that way and not mix genres. People go to horrors
for a reason and you don’t want to disappoint them. As it is an
opening sequence, I wouldn’t want to give too much away, so what I
would show is; the main antagonist, what he’s like, the setting and a
look into his life as a murder.
What will you film opening
title credits look like? (How will
they appear on screen? Where
will they be positioned? How
will they animate? What style
of font/typography?)
http://www.dafont.com/frankendork.font
This is the font that is going to be used within the opening scene as
it stays with the idea of the slasher-horror, I didn’t like the idea of
blood dripping down from the text as it looks over the top. I’m
keeping with the idea of minimalistic but staying with the horror
theme. The first few frames would start with just the text saying a
film by (Film director) with the sound of footsteps and then would
cut to a clip of the antagonists with more credits to be shown such
as a the cast members, the company’s included in the making of the
product. There would be a lot of effects to lower the lighting of the
room and add in CGI if necessary.

Film opening title sequence proposal form
