3 Things to Learn About:
-Ponemon Institute's 2016 big data cybersecurity analytics research report
-Quantifiable returns organizations are seeing with big data cybersecurity analytics
-Trends in the industry that are affecting cybersecurity strategies
Information security is a big problem today. With more attacks happening all the time, and increasingly sophisticated attacks beyond the script-kiddies of yesterday, patrolling the borders of our networks, and controlling threats both from outside and within is becoming harder. We cannot rely on endpoint protection for a few thousand PCs and servers anymore, but as connected cars, internet of things, and mobile devices become more common, so the attack surface broadens. To face these problems, we need technologies that go beyond the traditional SEIM, which human operators writing rules. We need to use the power of the Hadoop ecosystem to find new patterns, machine learning to uncover subtle signals and big data tools to help humans analysts work better and faster to meet these new threats. Apache Metron is a platform on top of Hadoop that meets these needs. Here we will look at the platform in action, and how to use it to trace a real world complex threat, and how it compares to traditional approaches. Come and see how to make your SOC more effective with automated evidence gathering, Hadoop-powered integration, and real-time detection.

Distributed Sensor Data Contextualization for Threat Intelligence AnalysisJason Trost
As organizations operationalize diverse network sensors of various types, from passive sensors to DNS sinkholes to honeypots, there are many opportunities to combine this data for increased contextual awareness for network defense and threat intelligence analysis. In this presentation, we discuss our experiences by analyzing data collected from distributed honeypot sensors, p0f, snort/suricata, and botnet sinkholes as well as enrichments from PDNS and malware sandboxing. We talk through how we can answer the following questions in an automated fashion: What is the profile of the attacking system? Is the host scanning/attacking my network an infected workstation, an ephemeral scanning/exploitation box, or a compromised web server? If it is a compromised server, what are some possible vulnerabilities exploited by the attacker? What vulnerabilities (CVEs) has this attacker been seen exploiting in the wild and what tools do they drop? Is this attack part of a distributed campaign or is it limited to my network?

Some people denote their time working for others online. What drives people to write an article on Wikipedia? They don´t get paid. Companies are enlisting people to help with innovations and sites such as Galaxy Zoo ask people to help identifying images. And why do people have to film themselves singing when they cannot sing and post the video on Youtube?
In this lecture we talk about how people are using the web to interact in new ways, and doing stuff.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
