This document presents a mood board showing common male and female stereotypes in action adventure films. The mood board depicts females as beautiful, elegant, and emotional while males are depicted as heroic, dominant, and violent. The gender stereotypes are presented as opposites, with females often portrayed as helpless princesses and males as strong heroes. However, some recent action adventure films have broken these conventions by depicting female characters as strong heroines and male characters with traditionally feminine traits like weakness and shyness.

3. This is my mood board to demonstrate male and female stereotypes in action adventure films. The gender differences are binary opposites which shows the contrast and differences between the two roles they take upon. Females are presented as the “princess” playing a vital role in the film. They are often portrayed as helpless and weak. In comparison the male character often characterised as the “hero” illustrated as dominant, powerful and strong nature. However in various action adventure films these conventional character roles are broken. The female characters are often revealed as the domineering strong heroine character. And the male characters are often presented as the weak, shy Men are sometimes represented as the geeky, shy introvert, attributes you wouldn’t normally associate with a masculine character.
