Social group Unlawful
1. How does our media product
represent particular social groups?
2.
3. The previous slide shows some characters which
influenced our character in various ways. For
example, they are all characters in their 20s.
Vivian Ward’s confidence in Pretty Woman
together with Lucy’s strength in Lucy, connote a
strong independent woman, which is how we
wanted Stacey to come across.
4. How did we represent this social group in our
opening sequence?
5. 1. Her outfit
Her outfit is very typical for a young
woman, a short dress, stockings and
fancy boots and a blazer. For our
character we decided on a contrast
between black and red because this
does connote her feminine side, but
red also represents danger,
connoting that she is someone to
beware of.
6. 2. She is mysterious, something to hide
This shows her looking through
photos of a mysterious guy and we
get the sense that it is the man she
is on the phone to. She has
something to hide.
Here, the gun in the drawer and the
multiple phones connotes that she
has multiple identities and maybe
this is because she has something to
hide.
7. 3. Her femininty
All of these shots connote her femininity as they portray her as a typical woman
getting ready for a night out.
In this shot we see
lots of feminine
objects for example
the jewellery stand,
more make up and
we see her nice
evening bag.
8. 4. Connoted as looking for love
I thought this was stereotypical for women,
always seeking a man in their lives or crying over
a break up. We thought that our character
should be on the phone to a mysterious man,
who we later decided should be her blind date.
