1. In most action-adventure films, there is a strong male protagonist, who has a habit of brutally slaughtering so-called ‘baddies’. Often, he will have a female accomplice, who seems to think that his actions make him desirable. In some more modern action-adventure films, females have become the main characters. There are, in a lot of these films, scenes which depict the woman fighting her male counterpart and winning, as if to say, “women can be stronger and better at mindless violence than men”. In the recent Iron Man films, although the lead female is not the main character, she has a far stronger character than the stereotypical ‘damsel in distress’.
