Essay On My Childhood Day
During my childhood days, every single time it rained, I would wait just to hear the thunder. Every
lightning strike was so powerful with its terrifying sound, yet it worked with the same principle that
explained the bits of paper clinging to a charged fur cloth rubbed on a cat. It was very enchanting for
me to learn that all the extreme and massive events which took place could be explained by the same
laws which govern our daily experiences. Learning physics would unravel the nature of these events,
all around me. Every single time I gaze at the sky, I could not help but realise that those stars which
sparkle at a distance are nothing but bodies just like our sun and most of them are still bigger. During
my school days, my biggest awe was just to realise how miniscule we were and that the universe was
ever expanding. The most interesting fact for me was to admire the ... Show more content on

Moreover, my calculation for removing a stain on a vessel which my mother was not able to clean,
came out to be right. I was able to remove the stain, unusually, with cooking oil than with water. My
mother was surprised and I felt triumphant. Learning new little things can have a great stimulus on the
human brain and this is a joyous facet of science to me.
My curiosity to know and understand the workings of the things around me has led to my interest in
electronics, physics and particularly applied physics. To be able to understand the physical
phenomenon and then being able to apply it is a very fascinating process. I would like to see how the
theory that I got acquainted with up until now can be put to use for some of the most important things
around. This internship would give me an opportunity to explore nanotechnologies and understand its

Iodine Clock Reaction
Introduction:
First discovered by Hans Heinrich Landolt in the 19th century, the Iodine Clock reaction is what is
described as a chemical clock reaction, and today is one of only few known to science. It is useful as a
tool in determining the rate of a chemical reaction due to a marked change in the color of the reacting
solution when a particular reaction has been completed. The process is also practical as an
introduction to reaction rates and kinetics. A solution of hydrogen peroxide is mixed with one
containing potassium iodide, starch and sodium thiosulfate. After a varying amount of time the
colorless mixture suddenly turns dark blue which is one of a number of reactions related to the iodine
clock. The positive points of the lab would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the lab, a stopwatch was used to measure the time of the reaction taking place. The eye hand
coordination of a human simply cannot be trusted to be entirely accurate which is why there was
uncertainty about the accuracy of the stopwatch.Although the conduction of this experiment was
straightforward, it would be better if we had access to more potassium iodide. The concentration of
potassium iodide was too low, and as a result it delayed the time that the reaction took place. For
example, in trial 2, the portion of sodium thiosulfate is higher than potassium iodide s, so the reaction
delayed. The concentration of potassium iodide would be higher if the potassium iodide provided to us
was not diluted. The potassium iodide provided was at a concentration of 0.2 moles and if it were at a
higher concentration, we would ve gotten a quicker reaction. As an alternate method for this lab, solid
potassium iodide could be used instead of liquid potassium iodide since the amount of solid potassium
iodide can alter the concentration of the solution. In order to get solid potassium iodide, we would boil
liquid potassium iodide, and as a result, solid potassium iodide would be left in the plate due to the
evaporation of

Social And Economic Development Of Rio De Janeiro
3) The Dashed Hopes of UPP Social (and its counterparts) The overall aim of the UPP is to integrate
the favelas to the larger city (World Bank 2012). Once the community was pacified, the government
could enter and provide goods and services. Therefore, since its origin, the program UPP Social was
subordinated to the UPPs, meaning that only pacified favelas would receive it (Bentsi Enchill,
Goodenough and Berger 2015). In partnership with UN Habitat, UPP Social was meant to accomplish
the following aims: contribute to the consolidation of the peace process and the promotion of local
citizenship in pacified territories; promote urban, social and economic development; carry out the full
integration of these areas into the city (Rio Mais ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This explains why they overwhelmingly support Lula and Dilma Rousseff in the current political and
economic crisis, unlike the rest of the population (Caulyt and Malkes 2016; Favela 247 2016).
However, due to the rising living costs in the pacified favelas (Oosterban and Van Hijk 2015), the
Bolsa Família does not provide a support that would be sufficient to overcome clientelism. Moreover,
the Bolsa Família is often blamed for not giving voice to civil society (Hevia 2011), therefore
participatory policies are generally preferred. Residents Awareness and Participation in the
Elaboration of Projects Residents are overall unaware of the activities undertaken by UPP Social.
They associate it with social events organized by the UPPs. As a consequence, many residents did not
want to take part in the activities, as they associated UPP Social with the police. To overcome the
misunderstandings, the program was renamed Rio + Social in 2014 (Fernandes 2014). However, the
change in name did not improve the services offered, and residents views are not taken into account
when mapping needs of the community. Evidence from interviews showed that few residents could
describe was doing for their community. Indeed, it appears that the program is limited to the
organization of social events. For example, Mirian, Human

Catalyst For Change Essay
Catalyst for Change
A catalyst is someone or something that causes activity between
two or more persons. Teachers who are visionaries are never
content with the status quo but rather always looking for a better way
(Larner , 2004, p. 32). Catalyst for Change teachers are continually
looking for ways to improve their teaching, are problem solving ways to
implement a new curriculum learned at a recent conference or break
out session and always having a growth mindset. These visionary
teachers are fulfilling the Catalyst for Change role. They continue to be
agents to pave the way for growth in education.
All schools need leaders who are looking for ways to improve
what they already have. A catalyst is insightful in research based ... Show more content on

They can make things happen by turning
thoughts into action and are an energy source for co workers. Co
workers feel they are easy to get along with, are flexible with ideas
and can organize for maximum productivity. Catalysts for change
must work with colleagues and school leaders to overcome obstacles
that get in the way of reaching their goals.
Implementing new ideas does not always set well with all staff.
Risks and challenges may face these teachers with placing blame on
the motivator. They must take control of the situation and make
decisions that do not cause more playing of the blame game. They
must always show others the big picture and help them to see the
purpose. Treating all people, the same and helping them make the
decisions, will make the process run more smooth.
Teacher leaders can be catalysts for change feeling secure in
their own work and have commitment to continual improvement.
This type of educator or administrator inspires others to follow
their lead as they strive for excellence. They are role models for the
problem solving and risk taking business. They are paving the way

The And Behavioral Outcomes After The Delivery Of Instruc...
In order to effectively measure the specific behavioral outcomes after delivery of instruc tion is made
via digital media devices, I will be using qualitative methods such as, observations and a focus group,
to assess the gains being made, and the behavioral outcomes that occur direct ly after technology has
been used by the student. Since autism is a communication disorder it will be difficult to directly
interview the participants. Therefore, I will ask a simple yes/no question such as, did you like it to the
participants and record each individuals answer. It is difficult to determine what changes will need to
be made until the study is underway.
Data Collection
The primary data collection method of this study is observations. I intend to reflect on my own beliefs
daily, in order to remain as objective as possible. Data collection conducted through observations
alone can produce filtered results based on the perspective of the observer. That is one of the issues
that I anticipate to arise when conducting data collection. That is why recon naissance will be a
necessary task before and after collecting observational data. With a concrete definition of the term
behavioral outcomes and daily reconnaissance, I believe this will provide me with an adequate checks
and balances and data management system for my research. Accord ing to Gay, Mills, Airasian, By

Colossians Essay
The Colossians Essay By: Kenneth Bernard Ridgell Instructor: Dr. Matthew Clifton Essay on
Colossians Topic Heresy Date: November 7, 2011 Ridgell 2 The city of Colosse was located in the
province of Phrygia; before the Christian era the city of Colosse was a principle city the Lycus Valley.
Being part of a major trade route in Asia Minor from Ephesus to Miletus, the city was known for its
production of textiles, especially in its purple wool. Larger cities such as Laodicea and Hierapolis,
made it a well populated and high business area in the Lycus Valley. With great changes in the road
system Laodicea became a more important trade city than Colosse. Once a great city by AD 61

He is also the Redeemer (1: 14), the one who contains all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge
Colossians 2: 3. The purpose in writing Colossians was to express Paul s personal interest in the
Colossians to warn them against reverting to their old pagan vices, and to counteract both the
theological heresy and its practice within the church at Colosse. We live in a world where religious
confusion is ramped, just as it was in the days of the apostle Paul we are confronted with false
teaching without and within the church and as the early church rejected all forms of syncretism
because they were convinced that Jesus alone was God and the only way of salvation, this truth was
firmly stressed. Thus, as with the early church, so the church must not tolerate the syncretism of our
day. We can tolerate genuine pluralism, the idea that the religions of the world can peacefully co exist,
but not syncretism, the idea that the beliefs of various religions can be combined. Our society wants a
tolerance that accepts all beliefs. Tolerance can be defined in two ways, legal tolerance is the right for
everyone to believe in whatever faith (or none at all) he wishes. This is important in our society, and
we as Christians should maintain our conviction that no one should ever be coerced into believing as
we do. Another legal way of tolerance is social tolerance, a commitment to

China Saper Threat
Weak USA Cyber Policy vs China s Security Threat to the USA?
Abstract
A cyber spy network based mainly in China hacked into classified documents from government and
private organizations. One of the biggest questions still remains unanswered. Should the U.S.
Congress conduct an in depth assessment of Chinese cyber spying and consider imposing tougher
penalties on companies that benefit from industrial espionage. In this paper I will review china s cyber
threat and possible USA solutions to protect against the threat.

cyber policy has embraced this idea. The Plan declared that in order for it to succeed, government and
the private sector must work together in a partnership. However since the regulation has been in place
it has failed to provide the security necessary to protect U.S. critical infrastructure from a cyber attack.
Even Congress has been slow to act regarding almost all aspects of cyber policy (Wolf, J. 12 July,
2012). One of the problems facing a comprehensive cyber security bill is that computers have become
so omnipresent in our daily lives that they cross every sector of the economy. It is not surprising that
application of the laws of war to cyber attacks has recently been a popular topic in politics. Some have
even analyzed whether a cyber attack can constitute an armed attack, it can but, whether a cyber attack
with a specified effect constitutes a use of force. An example, if the U.S. could prove that Iran absolute
sent a computer virus that infected a Wall Street, would dropping a bomb on Iran be justify? A
responsible nation must always consider the possibilities of collateral damage in deciding whether an
act of self defense is justified, be it cyber or kinetic. While the United States must undoubtedly
increase its cyber defense capabilities, the nation cannot retreat behind a Line of firewalls. As in the
fight against terrorism, the United States must be vigilant and aggressive in the face of both cyber

Process Analysis Reflection
Teachers in high school were constantly trying to tell you how to write their way and perfect what
they thought was good writing. Little did I know everyone s writing style is good in its own way. This
academic writing class proved to me that no writing style is right or wrong, but instead all writing
styles have their own uniqueness and character to them. After reading the assigned articles and
analyzing the writing process and other topics discussed in this class, I now see writing as an
extraordinary process that is different for everyone. After writing papers and getting feedback, I saw
where my writing lacked solid evidence in my rhetorical analysis paper, and I also found certain ways
I can write more efficiently in my process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What helped me analyze this was Carol Berkenkotter and Donald Murray s analysis of the writing
process. Donald Murray was analyzed for two months in his everyday life and they analyzed how the
environment he was in when writing affected his writing outcomes. The importance of the audience
when editing was highlighted in one of the final paragraphs and I did not realize the importance of the
audience really until I looked back and thought about my writing. Even going back to junior high
writing, your audience was the teacher, and your goal was to write to the teacher s specifications.
Writing is more than just sitting down and writing a dull essay. Even if it is not the first thought in
your head you still have to know your affordances, constraints, and audience in order to write
effectively and edit to the best of your ability. Going into this course I was afraid my writing style
would not be good enough, or up to par with the writing style of a professor for a college writing
class. The first paper I composed this semester was a rhetorical analysis paper in which I analyzed the
rhetor, the audience, the exigence, affordances, and constraints. If you would have asked me what
most of those terms meant last year at this time I would have given you a blank stare. After reading the
articles from Keith Grant Davie, Christina Haas and Linda Flower, and Laura Carroll, my eyes were
opened to what rhetorical

Essay On Genre Analysis
How I approached writing my Genre Analysis:
I approached my genre writing based on Writing in the Health Sciences guidelines for research papers.
Since my chosen paper was a research paper, I looked for the sections in a research paper that
included the abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, and references. This
helped me decide what needed to be in each section so I could elaborate on if it was included or was
not.
How I found my sources:
I started out by going through articles on google scholar and found the one that made me most
interested. I have known people that have smoked during pregnancy and what happened to their child
so I wanted to see if children could potentially have asthma from their mom smoking. ... Show more

Here I also stated if my paper had that convention and if they had any variation in a research paper
regarding to Writing in the Health Sciences. This helped me write my paper because we were to
describe each convention in our genre analysis so it gave me a start. It also helped me analyze the
effectiveness of the genre which was step 4 in our paper. Here in step 4 I think was my most difficult
part in the paper because after gaining your input on that you should not say I believe I understand
why it sounds more confident. I will now write my ideas as such, but then when proofreading go back
and delete it because it sounds better stating why x causes y.
What went well in my Genre Analysis:
After receiving your comment on my genre analysis paper, I noticed that I did have a lot of
information in my paper. I went over the minimum word count because I felt that it was necessary
because I wanted to incorporate the information from the study into my paper. What also went well in
my paper was that I appropriately cited information in APA, which included in text citations and
references. If I did these wrong, I wish you could tell me since from my understanding I did them right
and want to do well on the test paper.
What did not go well in my Genre

Catcher In The Rye Summer Reading Assignment
For my summer reading assignment I chose to read The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I chose
this book for two reasons, one was due to the fact that it was the only book on the list that I had even
heard about and two a friend of mine had recommended it to me. Personally, I did not enjoy the book
at all. Now I could have gotten another book after I realized that I didn t like this book, which was
after the I finished the first chapter, but Barnes and Noble is admittedly far away from my house. I
figured that I should read this book as a punishment since that s what this whole assignment feels like
since, you know we re on summer break. Plus, I like to finish what I start. A question I had to keep in
mind while reading this book was what does this book says about me. Honestly, I don t think it says

I think I am, but how do I know? At first glance this line may look like it s not too important but the
more you think about the book the more they suit it. This book is about a teenage boy who keeps
doing things that you think he s going to go through with but he doesn t. For example, at the end of the
book it appears that he s finally leaving however, he agrees to stay when his little sister insist on going
along with him. Now, the most beautifully written line in the book is Certain things they should stay
the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them
alone. I didn t have many choices to pick for a most beautiful line written because all that is written is
about how phony everyone is and him being cool and edgy. I do actually like the line though, it s a
great line for people who are nostalgic considering that that s all we would like to do, keep everything

The Craft By Nokia
The Craft
Princess Nokia stated in Brujas I m a black Native American I vanquish all evil. She did this to carve
out a space for her native identity. Contending that in every way the process of Western Civilization
commits genocide toward all living things militant Indian rhetors blatantly reject assimilation into
white society, advocating instead a return to traditional tribal values (Lake 732 1983). She did this by
embracing her native religion of witchcraft. Furthermore, she emphasized that a return to traditional
witchcraft would better society. She did this by recreating The Craft in her music video.
The most obvious recreation was that of the forest scene of The Craft. She altered the perspective of
the coven though the way that the knife was portrayed. In The Craft the knife was represented as a
killing instrument. The women were asked if they had any fear to rush upon the blade rather than join
the coven. In their perspective only strong witches would be allowed into the coven. Princess Nokia s
altered that the meaning of the knife to be seen as honor. The blade moves from shoulder to shoulder
as if dubbing them into a new title. She did this in order to change emotion and persuaded the viewer
to look at this ritual in a different way. It shifted the perception of being in a coven as something
dangerous to something that builds power and community. She also stated I aint no queen of the night

In the early 1800 s, many of the women in the United States were coming to realize that they wanted
to obtain more rights. The male gender had way more rights than women, and they had run more
things than women. Finally, women began to come forward to voice their opinions about how men
and women are made to be equal; no less, no more. It was now time for women to go out and pursue
whatever they wanted to pursue and not have to worry about the fact that they are females or that they
are weaker or have less education than a man. The Seneca Falls Convention would soon be one of the
biggest victories for women s rights. The Seneca Falls Convention of 1848 was the first women s

The Indians were forced to leave their homes and even families to move to the west, which is now
known as Oklahoma. The trail was not a specific road, trail, route, or river that was traveled. Instead,
the Indians traveled on different routes to get to their destination in Oklahoma. Some of the Indians
traveled upriver on steamboats, and some of the Indians even got into large caravans that carried
wagons full of their belongings and labor animals. A majority of the Indians traveled through Arkansas
to arrive in Oklahoma. Other Indian tribes and regular people would leave food, supplies and firewood
along the way to help the Indians on their treacherous journey to the west. Not only was the route a
long one, but the weather was very harsh. It was often freezing in the winter and very dry and boiling
during the summer. This led to a high mortality rate in the Indian tribes because the weather was so
harsh. Additionally, many of the Indians did not make it to Oklahoma due to the deadly diseases such

Describe two or more psychological explanations of schizophrenia
8+16 marks
A01 A02 Sociocultural AO2 Cognitive Introducing Biology
The cognitive explanation acknowledges the role of biological factors in schizophrenia, suggesting
that the basis of the condition is abnormal brain activity producing visual and auditory hallucinations.
Further features of the disorder emerge as people try to make sense of the hallucinations.
When schizophrenics first experience voices and other worrying sensory experiences, they turn to
others to confirm the validity of what they are experiencing. Other people fail to confirm the reality of
these experiences, so the schizophrenic comes to believe that others must be hiding the truth. They

The intention is to show schizophrenics that their hallucinations are not real. As yet, however, there is
no evidence that this will provide a successful treatment.
The research by Brown and Birley was a retrospective study where data is collected after events have
occurred. In other words, once a person had developed schizophrenia they were asked about events
leading up to the onset. It is quite likely that recall would be negatively affected by the events
surrounding the onset of schizophrenia so such evidence may be unreliable.
Prospective studies are preferable, where people are studied after the onset of the disorder. Hirsch et al
followed 71 schizophrenic patients over a 48 week period. It was clear that life events made a
significant cumulative (increasing) contribution in the 12 months preceding relapse rather than
immediately prior to the schizophrenic episode. This does support the retrospective research.
However, not all research supports the importance of life stressors. For example, Van Os et al reported
no link between life events and the onset of schizophrenia. In the prospective part of the study,
patients who had experienced a major life event went on to have a lower incidence of relapse rather
than an increased risk as predicted.
One criticism of this research is that it is correlational. Therefore, we cannot infer a causal

The Real Life Events Illustrated in The Ballad of...
The tragic poem, The Ballad of Birmingham, begins with a young child asking an imploring question
to her mother, May I go downtown instead of out to play (Randall, 669)?
The author, Dudley Randall, illustrates the conflict and irony between the mother and her child. The
mother only wants to protect her child from the dangers that await her, but the child on the other hand,
only wants to be a part of the Freedom March in Birmingham, Alabama. The Ballad of Birmingham
was written about the real life events of the bombing that took place in Birmingham, Alabama at the
church of Martin Luther King, Jr by white terrorists. Though the bombing was tragic and resulted in
the death of four innocent African American girls and injuring fourteen ... Show more content on

The child is not frightened, but informs her mother that other children will accompany her to the
march to make the country free. The mother tells her again that she cannot go, because she is afraid
that guns will be fired; therefore she would not be safe. The mother then tries yet again to deter her
daughter from her journey to Birmingham by telling her to go to the church instead where she can sing
in the children s choir, safe from harm.
After telling her daughter she can go to the church, the mother gives her a bath in rose petal water,
dresses her in her best clothes, and even gives her a pair of gloves to wear and little white shoes. This
is the most ironic part of the intire poem because the mother believes she is sending her to a safe
place, but is unaware of the fact, that she is doing the exact opposite and is sending her child to her
doom. Once her daughter has left, she smiles, but it is the last smile to come upon her face. The gives
the reader a sense that the young girl dressed all in white, is about to come to her demise. Because if
the young girl was going to a safe place, this would not be the last time that her mother smiled.
The ending of the poem is most tragic. In the safety of her home, the mother hears an explosion, and
races through the streets of Birmingham. Frightened as can be, she calls for her child; only to remain
unheard by the young girl. Looking through debris from the rubble of the church, the mother finds a

An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Analysis
I m really enjoying our assigned readings so far in class. My favorite so far has been An Occurrence at
Owl Creek Bridge by Bierce. I was not expecting the ending to this short story at all, it caught me off
guard. I honestly did believe that Peyton Farquhar, the main character of the story, managed to
escaped his hanging by swimming away from the scene. What I did find sort of hard to believe was
how much Peyton was able to imagine right before his death. What I mean by this is how he was able
to imagine a whole escape plan that led him running all the way home to his wife, all while he was in
the process of getting hanged. The whole story was about five pages long but it had a great amount of
detail describing the events. I especially enjoyed this particular reading because I was able to picture
every single moment as I kept reading along. I like stories where I know exactly what is going on and
I m able to picture everything in my head and just flow like a movie would. This was one of those
stories, especially after watching a Twilight Zone episode last class about this ... Show more content

really wanted to do was buy a gun so that he can go hunting in the summer. I wouldn t necessarily say
that Mathilde deserves those hard working 10 years she lost to repay the lost necklace mainly because
it has always been in Mathilde s nature to want the best and dreams of other luxuries. I do, however,
blame her for the misfortune she brought upon her and her husband when she lost the fake necklace. If
she wasn t so demanding of things and would have settled with simply the dress her husband bought
for her in exchange of his gun dream, then for sure their lives would probably have been a whole lot

Hiroshima By Hersey
The text of the story Hiroshima is sad, because it is talking about all of the innocent people that died in
the bombing of Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945. It tells the stories of the people that were affected by
the bombing. They were just living their lives like they would any other day. The bombing affected
people not only physically, but mentally as well. They were left with horrifying images of what had
happened to them in the blink of an eye. The way Hersey explains the stories of the people tells you
that the text is serious and emotional. The stories that he mentions about people are very detailed and
descriptive. The Reverend Mr. Tanimoto got up at five o clock that morning. He was alone in the

story. The text he uses tells us what the tone of the story should be and that the mood of the author is
serious. He tells the stories in a very good way by using certain words and phrases that change the
feeling of the reader. He is a good author and Hiroshima is very well written. In conclusion,

US Oklahoma Essay
On a warm afternoon in the Pacific, an Admiral inspects the deck of his battleship from the bridge.
Battleships play a large role in the Navy as long range artillery support, and as floating fortresses. The
U.S.S. Oklahoma was one of these grand ships. After the U.S.S. Oklahoma was commissioned, she
served her country for many years before falling victim to the Japanese invasion of Pearl Harbor. The
U.S.S. Oklahoma was initially launched on March 23, 1914, and commissioned two years later on
May 2, 1916, with Captain Roger Wellis in command. The U.S.S. Oklahoma was a Nevada class
battleship with a total length of 583 feet. She was also outfitted with two triple and two dual 14 /45
caliber deck guns, 21 single 5 /51 caliber deck guns, and two 21 inch submerged torpedo tubes

Lu Xun s Medicine, The Authorities Within The Chinese...
In Lu Xun s Medicine , the authorities within the Chinese government executed a young revolutionist,
Yu Hsia (Xia), for his nonconforming political ideals compared to China s political ideals at the early
twentieth century. After his execution, Old Chuan brought a roll of steamed bread to soak in Xia s
blood since he and his wife believed blood would cure their fatally ill son, Little Chuan (Hua). At the
last part of this non chronological short story, the reader discovered that Hua recently passed away,
and buried directly opposite from Xia s grave, separated only by the path. In particular, during Xia s
superstitious mother visit to Xia s grave, she not only grieved over his death, but observed a crow on a
leafless bough. Seeking for hope, she wanted the crow to fly on to his grave as a sign of her son s
presence. The crow initially showed no sign of movement, which made her raise the question: What
does it mean? Then, the crow stretch[ed] its wings, brace[d] itself to take off, then [flew] like an arrow
towards the far horizon. Although the crow did not fly on to Xia s grave, the crow still represented Xia
s presence, or even Xia himself. The crow s action was symbolic of what Xia would have done if he
were still alive. It was clear that Xia s mother had superstitious beliefs when she waited for the crow
to fly on to Xia s grave as a sign of his presence. Even though the crow did not listen to the mother s
request, the crow served as a representation of Xia. When

How Did The English Reformation Influence Religion
The English Reformation The English Reformation in the sixteenth century significantly influenced
religion and political ideology that would consequently impact the theology and laws formed
presently.
The English Reformation derived from King Henry VIII of England s personal desire to divorce his
Spanish wife. The Pope s refusal to grant King Henry VIII the divorce angered him, resulting in his
actions to remove ties from the Catholic Church and establish himself as the head of the Christian
faith in England (Brinkley 21). After King Henry s death, his daughter, Queen Mary, restored the
Catholic faith and persecuted Protestants. Later when Mary died, Elizabeth I, once again broke away
from Catholicism. The result of switching religions

Porphyria is a Disease in which the Body does not Produce...
Porphyria is a disease dealing with an abnormality of the metabolic processes in the body. In
particular, there is an insufficiency of the body to process porphyrins which are a metal containing
pigment. However, porphyria is actually a group of diseases with the commonality of the
accumulation of porphyrins or porphyrin precursors. Porphyria is derived from the Greek word
porphyrous meaning reddish purple. Urine from patients display a reddish purple hue due to the
presence of excess amounts of porphyrins. This is a rare disease with the most common type porphyria
cutanae tarda (PCT) statistically to occur one in ten thousand individuals. Porphyria disease is
generally inherited genetically, but some environmental factors can enhance or trigger porphyria
symptoms.
All diseases grouped under porphyria are disorders of heme biosynthesis, the deficiency of one of the
enzymes which are necessary for the production of heme. Heme includes hemoglobin, myoglobin,
cytochromes, and other heme containing proteins. These are found in all organs within the body, and
they are most active in the liver and bone marrow. Due to this enzyme deficiency, the result is the
accumulation of certain pathway intermediaries. Porphyria diseases can be categorized based on
where the primary site of overproduction occurs. If the accumulation of porphyrins occurs in the liver
then this is considered to be hepatic, and if the accumulation occurs in bone marrow then it is
categorized as erythropoietic.

The Pros And Cons Of Yogic Practices
Is Yogic practices different from normal exercises?
Yogic practices is not exercise in the sense in which the word exercise is commonly understood. Both
yogic practices and exercises have a common goal or objective, namely health protection and
promotion. However , the effect of yogic practices is not limited to this only. It is expected that
yogapractices should lead to a balanced personality.
Normal exercise routine is focused towards a certain goal, such as losing 10kg or increase push ups
than what you did yesterday. Yoga is to tone the body and calm the mind at the same time.
Regular yoga abhyas develops self confidence, boots vitality and induces a feeling of stability ; it

What brings silence into our practice is making our yoga class a sacred place. But in these days of
mobiles and tablets, many people bring their electronics to their class, and we ve lost that
impermeability. That s disturbing the potential of allowing silence to enter into our practice. We let
ourselves get depleted and then use yoga to try to get us back to neutral. Instead of going from
negative to zero one must try to organize our lives to go from zero to positive. This requires neti, neti ,

Chinook Salmon Essay
The lifecycle of the New Zealand chinook salmon is conventional to that of salmon in the North
Pacific. chinook salmon (Otherwise known as quinnat or king salmon) mature in the ocean, they
typically will reach sexual maturity at 3 years old, but this can vary anything between 2 7 years.
(Females take longer than males.) Upon reaching sexual maturity, they will migrate upstream to
spawn. Spawning usually occurs in autumn, immediately after all adults die, as the energy expenditure
of the process is too significant to recover. The eggs will hatch in early spring, and the chinook will
spend several months in the fresh water (some populations spend up to a year) before they migrate
downstream into the ocean, only to repeat the process over. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Euryhaline fish species are able to adapt to a wide range of salinities. This is absolutely crucial for the
chinook salmon to survive in the various conditions it is challenged by. Typically, an ocean has a
salinity of 35 ppt (parts per thousand), whereas freshwater has a salinity of less than 0.5 ppt. The
chinook is challenged with keeping the concentration and composition of their body fluids within
homeostatic limits while migrating through these continual changes in water salinity. Homeostasis
refers to the relatively constant physiological state of the body despite fluctuations in the external
environment. To be more specific the chinook salmon must regulate water potential in order to sustain
fluid and electrolyte balance within its body relative to its surroundings. This is achieved through a
process called osmoregulation. Osmoregulation is crucial for the chinook to maintain optimal osmotic
pressure within the body, this is the way by which it can withhold a suitable concentration of solutes
and amount of water in its body fluids. Osmosis is the net movement of water or solvent molecules
across a semi permeable membrane from a region of low solute concentration to high concentration.
The chinook salmon proves to be an excellent example of an organism that displays the application of
osmoregulation in order to survive and complete the lifecycle required of it to spawn and pass on its

Uniquely Cheap
Because computers can perform millions of computations each second, the cost of an individual
calculation approaches zero. This unique property of computers leads to interesting consequences in
ethics.
Uniquely Discrete
In a stimulating paper On the Cruelty of Really Teaching Computer Science, Edsger Dijkstra
examines the implications of one central, controlling assumption: that computers are radically novel in
the history of the world. Given this assumption, it follows that programming these unique machines
will be radically different from other practical intellectual activities. This, Dijkstra believes, is because
the assumption of continuity we make about the behavior of most materials and artifacts does not hold
for computer systems. For most things, small changes lead to small effects, larger changes to
proportionately larger effects. If I nudge the accelerator pedal a little closer to the floor, the vehicle
moves a little faster. If I press the pedal hard to the floor, it moves a lot faster. As machines go,
computers are very different.
Uniquely Coded
Computers operate by constructing codes upon codes upon codes cylinders on top of tracks, tracks on
top of sectors, sectors on top of records, records on top of fields, fields on top of characters, characters
on top of bytes, and bytes on top of primitive binary digits. Computer protocols like TCP/IP are

Detroit Riot Of 1943 Essay
The Detroit Riot of 1943 is a riot between the two racial ethnicities whites and blacks. During the
World War 2, this riot is said to be one of the worst riots that had happened during those times
(blackpast.org/Detroit race riot). Black people thought hey were heading to a guaranteed land where
they could seek for better future. However, white southerners didn t want black people to be in their
neighborhood; the white people brought their prejudices along with them as they migrate towards the
northern side. Because the arrival of newcomers, many suffered from being uncomfortable due to the
wartime rationing. Also, children were not given any care programs. At the same time, blacks were not
included from public housing. A lot of them lived in a home were indoor plumbing is not available,
yet they paid rent double than what white people are paying. Blacks faced many discriminations and
imbalanced actions by police. Basically, the main cause of this riot is because of the segregation and
the unfair treatment of society to black people.

Cement, Neopolymer and Similar Compositions
2. Conventional cement
The function of cement is for isolating production zone and to provide support for the casing
[11].Portland cement is made up of calcium oxide (CaO), silicon dioxide (SiO) and water (H2O)
which the composition of calcium carbonate is around 75 80 wt% and 20 25 wt% of clay [7],[14]..
Compressive strength of Portland cement is developed through hydration. Hydration is chemical
reaction between water and cement compound. The rheology and early strength of cement is
developed from reaction of aluminate compound at the beginning of hydration. Rate of hydration can
be control by adding gypsum. It is for preventing the premature hardening of cement. Gypsum will
react with aluminate and hydroxyl ion to form ettrigate. Ettrigate will prevent hydration process by
forming needle shaped crystal on the aluminate and creating induction period [11].
Some addictive can be added to the cement to enhance the properties of cement. There are accelerator,
retarder, extender, weighting agent, dispersant, fluid loss control agent and loss circulation agent [11].
Accelerator Use to speed up the early stages of hydration. Applicable in shallow well.
Retarder Inhibit hydration and slow the setting time of cement. Applicable in deep well.
Extender Reduce slurry density, thus reduce the hydrostatic pressure during cementing operation.
Extender use to prevent break down and loss of circulation of weak formation.

This report investigates resonance phenomena of driven damped simple harmonic oscillations by
measuring accelerations and frequencies of an oscillator. Since it turned out that oscillations with low

In total, 16 experimental data points have been taken after settling to each steady state for various
driven frequencies. The voltage data obtained in Lab View is then converted to the acceleration data
by multiplying its amplitudes by the slope of the two calibration points. Here, the voltage data is
calibrated with gravity only and with no acceleration. The slope is called calibration factor. Errors for

that is the minimum difference Lab View can measure. Errors for the phase shifts are obtained by

200 mg/dL. You need more tests. Ask your doctor for advice. About 20 percent of the U.S. population

general public that flying is dangerous, engines fail and planes crash. That is true some times,
although the majority of plane crashes occur largely due to a combination of human error and
mechanical failure. In much of aviations accidents mechanical failure has been a contributing factor. It
is impossible however to blame plane crashes on one reason since events leading up to an accident are

It also issued 18 airworthiness directives for all pilots operating small commuter aircraft, instructing
them on how to recognize and respond to dangerous icing conditions. (Krock, 2004, 4). As a step to

such as: Monitoring ice build up, and getting out of icing conditions if the buildup is unusually high,
on anti icing equipment sooner rather than later, avoid abrupt and excessive maneuvering that may
exacerbate control difficulties, do not extend flaps when holding in icing conditions (which can reduce
angle of attack), If flaps are extended, do not retract until the airframe is clear of ice, and report icing

Risk And Risk Of Risk
The risk score represents the criticality order of the risks, while the risk priority number is used for
assessing risk in a project and generally do not have a meaning on their own. In this case some of the
numbers are identical for the risk scores and priority numbers; however this is not always the case.
The reason for the duplicate numbers happens when the value is estimated to be smaller and the
impact is bigger in one risk than the other with a smaller impact. As you can see from the above charts
it is critical for New Concepts to concentrate first and foremost on the quality and labor risks,
followed swiftly by the financial risk.
Risk Planning and Analysis Risk Planning and Analysis is used to develop risk responses which are
options and actions to mitigate and reduce project threats. Risk responses delegate the owner for each
potential risk and are agreed upon by all parties involved. There are four ways risk can be managed
which are transferring risk, avoiding risk, reducing or mitigating risk and accepting risk.
Transferring Risk: Risk can be transferred from an organization to its contractor and vice versa. This
should be agreed upon prior to the project starting and detailed in the contract. All risk may not be
transferred, sometimes only partial risk can be transferred. New Concepts may consider transferring
risk to a contractor helping with coding when they do not believe they will not meet deadlines on a
new system.
Avoid Risk: Risk can be avoided

This was the first time Germany was a centralized nation. There was the German Confederation which
came about in 1815, to replace the Holy Roman Empire, or the First Reich. The German
Confederation was comprised of 41 German states; this was not a government, however, more an
agreement not to fight each other, and a promise to defend each other in the case of war. The states
were still ruled by monarchies and there was no sort of currency or government body. In 1848 there
was an attempt to unify the German states into a single nation. It was brought about by a revolution,
which caused elections to be held, and a constitution to be drafted. This movement basically crashed
and burned, however. There was debate because Austria Hungary was part of the confederation but the
National Assembly which was convened felt Austria Hungary was too large and only really wanted the
German speaking half in the nation. They didn t have the power to break up the state so leadership of
the state would have fallen on the Prussian Emperor. He did not like the idea of having to act on behalf
of the will of the people and rejected being emperor. This was basically the final nail in the coffin for
that and the rebellion was then squashed. In 1866 following a war with Austria, the German
confederation was replaced by the North German Confederation which was led by the Prussians and
was cut down to 17 states. When the Second Reich was established, Bismarck remained

Comparison of Child Characters in Salinger s Teddy and...
In J.D. Salinger s Nine Stories there are many tales centered on children, who are often depicted as a
symbol of hope and connected with the values that stand in contrast to the ones typical of the adults
corrupted by materialism. In my essay, I would like to concentrate on the portrayal of children in A
Perfect Day for Bananafish and Teddy . Even though the way these characters are depicted is similar, a
child protagonist in each of the stories is representative of different things. While Sibyl can be seen as
a prototype of a childlike innocence, purity and simplicity, Teddy can hardly be considered a
prototypical innocent child. Despite the simplicity of Sibyl s thinking, her presence and behavior help
the reader draw many complex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one trait of personality that Teddy and Sibyl share is the kindness. The kindness is evidence in
both, Sibyl s treatment of Seymour and Teddy s behavior. When Teddy s sister tells the young boy that
he is the stupidest person [she] ever met (176), Teddy kindly defends and reassures the young boy. In
his journal it is discovered that all Teddy writes about are small kind acts that he wishes to do for other
people: he wants to find and wear his father s dog tags because he thinks it will please him; he wants
to write a condolence letter to someone who is ill, and he wishes to be nicer to [the] librarian (180 1).
Sybil s presence and behavior leads one to many conclusions about the main adult in the story,
Seymour Glass. Seymour s motives and values are clearly and concisely revealed through interaction
with Sybil. Again, the color blue is used to show innocence. When Seymour takes off his robe to go in
the water, it is discovered that his shoulders were white and narrow, and his trunks were royal blue
(Saliger 13). Even by his name (Seymour see more), it is suggested that he is much closer to the nature
of a child than to the materialistic adult world, he sees in life much more than they do. In addition to
the royal blue swim

The Concentration Of Acid Soluble F Concentrations On The...
Data werer taken from (1) Chen et al. 2002; Fung et al. 1999; (2) Mossman 1973; Walton 1988; (3) Al
Agha 1995; Shomar et al. 2004; (4) Haikel, Voegel, and Frank (1986).
And also compared to critical limits of total F with 1000 mg kg 1 (Ozsvath 2009) and the critical
limit of acid soluble F with 150 mg kg 1 (Arnesen 1997), the F concentrations in the soils of the
CDR area near Kaduna, Nigeria are, with respective average values of 160.5 mg kg 1 and 8.0 mg kg 1,
within safe ranges.
In summary, the F concentrations measured in the soils of the CDR area near Kaduna are significantly
lower than the critical F concentrations as well as the F concentrations measured in areas of endemic
skeletal fluorosis. The reason for the low F ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compared to the geogenic background value of areas underlain by acidic igneous bedrock, which
contain high concentrations of F bearing minerals, such as biotite or apatite (Reimann and Caritat
1998), the F concentrations of the drinking water in the CDR area near Kaduna are significantly
lower. As the water samples were taken from surface sources and shallow, hand dug wells, where the
main F source are the highly weathered parent rocks, the low F concentrations were expectable.
However, since surface water and the shallow hand dug wells are the main drinking water sources of
the local population, we assumed the overall F consumption via the rock water pathway to be low as
well.
In contrast, F concentrations in drinking water in basalt areas around Lake Magadi in Kenya, where
dental fluorosis is endemic, are greater than 1.7 mg L 1 (Jones, Eugster, and Reitig 1977). In the
Obuasi area and the Bolgatanga area of Ghana, where the local population suffers from dental
fluorosis, the F concentrations are typically greater than 3.0 mg L 1 due to high contents of F bearing
minerals in the granitoid basement rocks (Smedley et al. 1995). According to Dissanyake and
Chandrajith (2009) and Ekanayake and Van der Hoek (2003), F concentrations of greater than 4.0 mg

Essay On African Americans After Reconstruction
History of African Americans after Reconstruction
During reconstruction the United States was divided on social issues, presidential campaigns were
won and loss on these issues during this period. The struggle for development of African Americans
and how they initiated change in political, economic, educational, and social conditions to shape their
future and that of the United States. (Dixon, 2000) The South s attempts to recover from the Civil war
included determining what to do with newly freed slaves and finding labor to replace them. The task
of elevating the Negro from slave to citizen was the most enormous one which had ever confronted
the country. Local governments implemented mechanisms of discrimination to combat citizenship ...

The development of sharecropping was associated with the endless debt cycles that afflicted the entire
South well into the twentieth century. The freedmen endured an economic status likened to peonage,
(Bowles, 2011) in addition to having their hopes for political and social equality dashed. The entire
South suffered, it was the freedmen who paid the highest price. Ignorant and impoverished, they were
easy targets for exploitation by landlords (Bowles, 2011) and merchants alike; moreover, their options
were limited by the overt racism in the South, legal restrictions and partiality. Sharecropping resulted
from the intense explicit or implicit desire of white Southerners to keep blacks subservient to them.
African Americans possessed few skills, and those they did possess related almost exclusively to
agricultural production; they owned no property but the clothes on their backs; (Bowles, 2011) Many
dreamed of forty acres and a mule with which to begin life anew as an integrated part of American
society and the proprietor of one s own land. Inside of a year, however, a different reality became
obvious to most. By 1868, land confiscation and redistribution was not in the realm of American
political possibility. Desperation, familiarity with people and surroundings at the old places coupled
with reunion of many lost loved ones, as well as the urgings of

Why Is Apple Jarpods Useful
My Apple Earpods are very useful in my everyday life. They help me listen to my music and let s me
listen to my favorite youtube videos privately. Without my Apple Earpods I wouldn t concentrate in
some of my work because they help me stay focused on my work. They are very useful when you are
not doing nothing in class. They are also very useful if you love doing sports and love working out.
That s the reason why it benefits me and can benefit others. It s not fun once they mess up or lose
them at school. During the research I did on Apple EarPods I found that the latest Earpods were
designed with a slightly longer strain relief, a slightly smaller speaker grill, and the left/right marking
being moved from the outside to the inside. The

Too Much Crying isn t a Good Thing
Crying is undoubtedly one of the most common humanistic features when it comes to the emotions of
the average person, due to the fact that every human being has shed tears for which ever reasons their
emotions led them to. However, crying can also be the result of many other issues and can indicate a
serious problem if done continuously and drastically to the point where it becomes a serious concern.
In adolescents, it is more normal to cry as the child may not understand or know what to do about a
situation, leaving them flustered, agitated, sad, angry, or any negative emotion causing them to cry.
With these things being said, when crying is understood to be the result of an underlying deep rooted
issue, the next step is to understand the enforcer that is keeping the behavior of crying continuous and
figure out exactly how to decrease it to the point of normality. Crying has also yet to be examined
systematically in isolation from other problem behavior, such as aggression or tantrums, during
functional analyses (Hanley, Iwata, McCord, 2003). Identification of variables that may maintain
crying is especially important for populations who are susceptible to psychiatric interventions (e.g.,
individuals who have intellectual disabilities and communication deficits). The current study extended
functional analysis methodology to crying with an adolescent boy who had been diagnosed with
intellectual disabilities. Results suggested that crying was maintained by caregiver

Narrative Essay On Spanish Culture
Most people have terms or a language that they use in the comfort of their home, coming from a
Hispanic family I was always rooted to my culture; thus being the reason why I only speak Spanish in
my home. The Spanish language is important to me because it is a way I identify myself with my
culture, it defines who I am and how I view the world. Traditional Hispanic values consist of love,
respect, honesty, caring and humility all in which were installed in me by the women and men in my
family at a very young age. As a family we have experienced many bumps on the road but have found
a way to drive through them. These values that have been installed in me seem to have a much deeper
meaning to them in my home language, in which has made me the person I am ... Show more content

Compañera, it means a female companion or friend. When I seemed to be sad my mother would
always sit on the couch and signaled for me to lie on her lap, when I arrived home minutes later my
head rested upon my mother s warm legs. I d hear my mother s sigh while she ran her fingers through
my curls and would feel her strong steady nails scratch at my roots. Soon the dripping of the bits of
salt ceased, and in seconds would dry at the base of my ear. My mother would then drift away into
deep sleep and I would sit up next to her so she can rest on my lap and return the comfort she had gave
me, I wondered if my lap felt as warm as hers or smelled of what seemed like a Spanish restaurant
with all the cooking she d be doing throughout the day. When she d wake up she would kiss my
forehead and whisper with her soft Spanish accent mi compañera, my companion. She too was mi
compañera, I know many people love their mother but I truly do love mine. When she is sad I feel like
my heart shrinks and a knot forms at the base of ribs and travels to the midsection of my throat, I
would do anything and everything for her as she would do for me. Mi

Women s National Soccer Team
From a young age, children are conditioned to always think about what they want to be when they
grow up. Many of them dream to be a ballerina, firefighter, or an astronaut. With age comes maturity,
and those aspirations pass, but simultaneously new, more realistic ones arise. To reach these new
goals, these children work toward their dream through dedication, which can be seen in the studying
or training they do. In today s society females have more opportunity to do what they dream. There are
young women who are assiduously working to get a college degree and a steady job. Then, there are
also women who are training to become a professional athlete, with the aspiration of becoming a
member of the United States Women s National Soccer Team (USWNT). In today s society, women
can pursue their goals, however, if compared to men s sports, there can be differences seen that keep
women from reaching full potential, equality, and their dreams. An evident and popular difference is
the wage gap between men and women, especially after five members of the USWNT, filed a suit with
the Equal Employment Opportunity Commision about a violation of the Equal Pay Act. Carli Lloyd,
Alex Morgan, Hope Solo, Becky Sauerbrunn, and Megan Rapinoe, later followed by Christian Press
and Morgan Brian, have created a social movement to end what they call gender discrimination. Five
of the previously stated women, expressed their opinions on the news show, 60 Minutes. They delve
into why it is wrong

  • 2. Essay On My Childhood Day During my childhood days, every single time it rained, I would wait just to hear the thunder. Every lightning strike was so powerful with its terrifying sound, yet it worked with the same principle that explained the bits of paper clinging to a charged fur cloth rubbed on a cat. It was very enchanting for me to learn that all the extreme and massive events which took place could be explained by the same laws which govern our daily experiences. Learning physics would unravel the nature of these events, all around me. Every single time I gaze at the sky, I could not help but realise that those stars which sparkle at a distance are nothing but bodies just like our sun and most of them are still bigger. During my school days, my biggest awe was just to realise how miniscule we were and that the universe was ever expanding. The most interesting fact for me was to admire the ... Learning new little things can have a great stimulus on the human brain and this is a joyous facet of science to me. My curiosity to know and understand the workings of the things around me has led to my interest in electronics, physics and particularly applied physics. To be able to understand the physical phenomenon and then being able to apply it is a very fascinating process. • 3. Iodine Clock Reaction Introduction: First discovered by Hans Heinrich Landolt in the 19th century, the Iodine Clock reaction is what is described as a chemical clock reaction, and today is one of only few known to science. It is useful as a tool in determining the rate of a chemical reaction due to a marked change in the color of the reacting solution when a particular reaction has been completed. The process is also practical as an introduction to reaction rates and kinetics. A solution of hydrogen peroxide is mixed with one containing potassium iodide, starch and sodium thiosulfate. After a varying amount of time the colorless mixture suddenly turns dark blue which is one of a number of reactions related to the iodine clock. The positive points of the lab would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the lab, a stopwatch was used to measure the time of the reaction taking place. The eye hand coordination of a human simply cannot be trusted to be entirely accurate which is why there was uncertainty about the accuracy of the stopwatch.Although the conduction of this experiment was straightforward, it would be better if we had access to more potassium iodide. The concentration of potassium iodide was too low, and as a result it delayed the time that the reaction took place. For example, in trial 2, the portion of sodium thiosulfate is higher than potassium iodide s, so the reaction delayed. The concentration of potassium iodide would be higher if the potassium iodide provided to us was not diluted. The potassium iodide provided was at a concentration of 0.2 moles and if it were at a higher concentration, we would ve gotten a quicker reaction. As an alternate method for this lab, solid potassium iodide could be used instead of liquid potassium iodide since the amount of solid potassium iodide can alter the concentration of the solution. In order to get solid potassium iodide, we would boil liquid potassium iodide, and as a result, solid potassium iodide would be left in the plate due to the evaporation of ... • 4. Social And Economic Development Of Rio De Janeiro 3) The Dashed Hopes of UPP Social (and its counterparts) The overall aim of the UPP is to integrate the favelas to the larger city (World Bank 2012). Once the community was pacified, the government could enter and provide goods and services. Therefore, since its origin, the program UPP Social was subordinated to the UPPs, meaning that only pacified favelas would receive it (Bentsi Enchill, Goodenough and Berger 2015). In partnership with UN Habitat, UPP Social was meant to accomplish the following aims: contribute to the consolidation of the peace process and the promotion of local citizenship in pacified territories; promote urban, social and economic development; carry out the full integration of these areas into the city (Rio Mais ... This explains why they overwhelmingly support Lula and Dilma Rousseff in the current political and economic crisis, unlike the rest of the population (Caulyt and Malkes 2016; Favela 247 2016). However, due to the rising living costs in the pacified favelas (Oosterban and Van Hijk 2015), the Bolsa Família does not provide a support that would be sufficient to overcome clientelism. Moreover, the Bolsa Família is often blamed for not giving voice to civil society (Hevia 2011), therefore participatory policies are generally preferred. Residents Awareness and Participation in the Elaboration of Projects Residents are overall unaware of the activities undertaken by UPP Social. They associate it with social events organized by the UPPs. As a consequence, many residents did not want to take part in the activities, as they associated UPP Social with the police. To overcome the misunderstandings, the program was renamed Rio + Social in 2014 (Fernandes 2014). However, the change in name did not improve the services offered, and residents views are not taken into account when mapping needs of the community. Evidence from interviews showed that few residents could describe was doing for their community. Indeed, it appears that the program is limited to the organization of social events. Teachers who are visionaries are never content with the status quo but rather always looking for a better way (Larner , 2004, p. 32). Catalyst for Change teachers are continually looking for ways to improve their teaching, are problem solving ways to implement a new curriculum learned at a recent conference or break out session and always having a growth mindset. In order to effectively measure the specific behavioral outcomes after delivery of instruc tion is made via digital media devices, I will be using qualitative methods such as, observations and a focus group, to assess the gains being made, and the behavioral outcomes that occur direct ly after technology has been used by the student. Since autism is a communication disorder it will be difficult to directly interview the participants. Therefore, I will ask a simple yes/no question such as, did you like it to the participants and record each individuals answer. It is difficult to determine what changes will need to be made until the study is underway. Data Collection The primary data collection method of this study is observations. I intend to reflect on my own beliefs daily, in order to remain as objective as possible. Data collection conducted through observations alone can produce filtered results based on the perspective of the observer. That is one of the issues that I anticipate to arise when conducting data collection. That is why recon naissance will be a necessary task before and after collecting observational data. With a concrete definition of the term behavioral outcomes and daily reconnaissance, I believe this will provide me with an adequate checks and balances and data management system for my research. Being part of a major trade route in Asia Minor from Ephesus to Miletus, the city was known for its production of textiles, especially in its purple wool. Larger cities such as Laodicea and Hierapolis, made it a well populated and high business area in the Lycus Valley. With great changes in the road system Laodicea became a more important trade city than Colosse. Once a great city by AD 61 Colosse suffered a great deal, an earthquake shook ... The purpose in writing Colossians was to express Paul s personal interest in the Colossians to warn them against reverting to their old pagan vices, and to counteract both the theological heresy and its practice within the church at Colosse. We live in a world where religious confusion is ramped, just as it was in the days of the apostle Paul we are confronted with false teaching without and within the church and as the early church rejected all forms of syncretism because they were convinced that Jesus alone was God and the only way of salvation, this truth was firmly stressed. Thus, as with the early church, so the church must not tolerate the syncretism of our day. We can tolerate genuine pluralism, the idea that the religions of the world can peacefully co exist, but not syncretism, the idea that the beliefs of various religions can be combined. Our society wants a tolerance that accepts all beliefs. Tolerance can be defined in two ways, legal tolerance is the right for everyone to believe in whatever faith (or none at all) he wishes. This is important in our society, and we as Christians should maintain our conviction that no one should ever be coerced into believing as we do. Another legal way of tolerance is social tolerance, a commitment to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abstract A cyber spy network based mainly in China hacked into classified documents from government and private organizations. One of the biggest questions still remains unanswered. Should the U.S. Congress conduct an in depth assessment of Chinese cyber spying and consider imposing tougher penalties on companies that benefit from industrial espionage. However since the regulation has been in place it has failed to provide the security necessary to protect U.S. critical infrastructure from a cyber attack. Even Congress has been slow to act regarding almost all aspects of cyber policy (Wolf, J. 12 July, 2012). One of the problems facing a comprehensive cyber security bill is that computers have become so omnipresent in our daily lives that they cross every sector of the economy. It is not surprising that application of the laws of war to cyber attacks has recently been a popular topic in politics. Some have even analyzed whether a cyber attack can constitute an armed attack, it can but, whether a cyber attack with a specified effect constitutes a use of force. Little did I know everyone s writing style is good in its own way. This academic writing class proved to me that no writing style is right or wrong, but instead all writing styles have their own uniqueness and character to them. After reading the assigned articles and analyzing the writing process and other topics discussed in this class, I now see writing as an extraordinary process that is different for everyone. After writing papers and getting feedback, I saw where my writing lacked solid evidence in my rhetorical analysis paper, and I also found certain ways I can write more efficiently in my process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What helped me analyze this was Carol Berkenkotter and Donald Murray s analysis of the writing process. Donald Murray was analyzed for two months in his everyday life and they analyzed how the environment he was in when writing affected his writing outcomes. The importance of the audience when editing was highlighted in one of the final paragraphs and I did not realize the importance of the audience really until I looked back and thought about my writing. Even going back to junior high writing, your audience was the teacher, and your goal was to write to the teacher s specifications. Writing is more than just sitting down and writing a dull essay. Even if it is not the first thought in your head you still have to know your affordances, constraints, and audience in order to write effectively and edit to the best of your ability. Going into this course I was afraid my writing style would not be good enough, or up to par with the writing style of a professor for a college writing class. The first paper I composed this semester was a rhetorical analysis paper in which I analyzed the rhetor, the audience, the exigence, affordances, and constraints. If you would have asked me what most of those terms meant last year at this time I would have given you a blank stare. After reading the articles from Keith Grant Davie, Christina Haas and Linda Flower, and Laura Carroll, my eyes were opened to what rhetorical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This helped me decide what needed to be in each section so I could elaborate on if it was included or was not. Here in step 4 I think was my most difficult part in the paper because after gaining your input on that you should not say I believe I understand why it sounds more confident. I will now write my ideas as such, but then when proofreading go back and delete it because it sounds better stating why x causes y. What went well in my Genre Analysis: After receiving your comment on my genre analysis paper, I noticed that I did have a lot of information in my paper. I went over the minimum word count because I felt that it was necessary because I wanted to incorporate the information from the study into my paper. What also went well in my paper was that I appropriately cited information in APA, which included in text citations and references. She did this by embracing her native religion of witchcraft. Furthermore, she emphasized that a return to traditional witchcraft would better society. She did this by recreating The Craft in her music video. The most obvious recreation was that of the forest scene of The Craft. She altered the perspective of the coven though the way that the knife was portrayed. In The Craft the knife was represented as a killing instrument. The women were asked if they had any fear to rush upon the blade rather than join the coven. In their perspective only strong witches would be allowed into the coven. The intention is to show schizophrenics that their hallucinations are not real. As yet, however, there is no evidence that this will provide a successful treatment. The research by Brown and Birley was a retrospective study where data is collected after events have occurred. In other words, once a person had developed schizophrenia they were asked about events leading up to the onset. It is quite likely that recall would be negatively affected by the events surrounding the onset of schizophrenia so such evidence may be unreliable. Prospective studies are preferable, where people are studied after the onset of the disorder. Hirsch et al followed 71 schizophrenic patients over a 48 week period. It was clear that life events made a significant cumulative (increasing) contribution in the 12 months preceding relapse rather than immediately prior to the schizophrenic episode. This does support the retrospective research. However, not all research supports the importance of life stressors. For example, Van Os et al reported no link between life events and the onset of schizophrenia. In the prospective part of the study, patients who had experienced a major life event went on to have a lower incidence of relapse rather than an increased risk as predicted. One criticism of this research is that it is correlational. Therefore, we cannot infer a causal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The tragic poem, The Ballad of Birmingham, begins with a young child asking an imploring question to her mother, May I go downtown instead of out to play (Randall, 669)? The mother only wants to protect her child from the dangers that await her, but the child on the other hand, only wants to be a part of the Freedom March in Birmingham, Alabama. The child is not frightened, but informs her mother that other children will accompany her to the march to make the country free. The mother tells her again that she cannot go, because she is afraid that guns will be fired; therefore she would not be safe. The mother then tries yet again to deter her daughter from her journey to Birmingham by telling her to go to the church instead where she can sing in the children s choir, safe from harm. After telling her daughter she can go to the church, the mother gives her a bath in rose petal water, dresses her in her best clothes, and even gives her a pair of gloves to wear and little white shoes. This is the most ironic part of the intire poem because the mother believes she is sending her to a safe place, but is unaware of the fact, that she is doing the exact opposite and is sending her child to her doom. Once her daughter has left, she smiles, but it is the last smile to come upon her face. The gives the reader a sense that the young girl dressed all in white, is about to come to her demise. Because if the young girl was going to a safe place, this would not be the last time that her mother smiled. The ending of the poem is most tragic. I was not expecting the ending to this short story at all, it caught me off guard. I honestly did believe that Peyton Farquhar, the main character of the story, managed to escaped his hanging by swimming away from the scene. What I did find sort of hard to believe was how much Peyton was able to imagine right before his death. What I mean by this is how he was able to imagine a whole escape plan that led him running all the way home to his wife, all while he was in the process of getting hanged. The whole story was about five pages long but it had a great amount of detail describing the events. I especially enjoyed this particular reading because I was able to picture every single moment as I kept reading along. I do, however, blame her for the misfortune she brought upon her and her husband when she lost the fake necklace. In Lu Xun s Medicine , the authorities within the Chinese government executed a young revolutionist, Yu Hsia (Xia), for his nonconforming political ideals compared to China s political ideals at the early twentieth century. After his execution, Old Chuan brought a roll of steamed bread to soak in Xia s blood since he and his wife believed blood would cure their fatally ill son, Little Chuan (Hua). At the last part of this non chronological short story, the reader discovered that Hua recently passed away, and buried directly opposite from Xia s grave, separated only by the path. In particular, during Xia s superstitious mother visit to Xia s grave, she not only grieved over his death, but observed a crow on a leafless bough. Seeking for hope, she wanted the crow to fly on to his grave as a sign of her son s presence. The crow initially showed no sign of movement, which made her raise the question: What does it mean? In particular, there is an insufficiency of the body to process porphyrins which are a metal containing pigment. However, porphyria is actually a group of diseases with the commonality of the accumulation of porphyrins or porphyrin precursors. Porphyria is derived from the Greek word porphyrous meaning reddish purple. Urine from patients display a reddish purple hue due to the presence of excess amounts of porphyrins. This is a rare disease with the most common type porphyria cutanae tarda (PCT) statistically to occur one in ten thousand individuals. Porphyria disease is generally inherited genetically, but some environmental factors can enhance or trigger porphyria symptoms. All diseases grouped under porphyria are disorders of heme biosynthesis, the deficiency of one of the enzymes which are necessary for the production of heme. Heme includes hemoglobin, myoglobin, cytochromes, and other heme containing proteins. These are found in all organs within the body, and they are most active in the liver and bone marrow. Due to this enzyme deficiency, the result is the accumulation of certain pathway intermediaries. Porphyria diseases can be categorized based on where the primary site of overproduction occurs. If the accumulation of porphyrins occurs in the liver then this is considered to be hepatic, and if the accumulation occurs in bone marrow then it is categorized as erythropoietic. ... Spawning usually occurs in autumn, immediately after all adults die, as the energy expenditure of the process is too significant to recover. Typically, an ocean has a salinity of 35 ppt (parts per thousand), whereas freshwater has a salinity of less than 0.5 ppt. The chinook is challenged with keeping the concentration and composition of their body fluids within homeostatic limits while migrating through these continual changes in water salinity. Homeostasis refers to the relatively constant physiological state of the body despite fluctuations in the external environment. To be more specific the chinook salmon must regulate water potential in order to sustain fluid and electrolyte balance within its body relative to its surroundings. This is achieved through a process called osmoregulation. Osmoregulation is crucial for the chinook to maintain optimal osmotic pressure within the body, this is the way by which it can withhold a suitable concentration of solutes and amount of water in its body fluids. Osmosis is the net movement of water or solvent molecules across a semi permeable membrane from a region of low solute concentration to high concentration. • 38. Risk And Risk Of Risk The risk score represents the criticality order of the risks, while the risk priority number is used for assessing risk in a project and generally do not have a meaning on their own. In this case some of the numbers are identical for the risk scores and priority numbers; however this is not always the case. The reason for the duplicate numbers happens when the value is estimated to be smaller and the impact is bigger in one risk than the other with a smaller impact. As you can see from the above charts it is critical for New Concepts to concentrate first and foremost on the quality and labor risks, followed swiftly by the financial risk. Risk Planning and Analysis Risk Planning and Analysis is used to develop risk responses which are options and actions to mitigate and reduce project threats. Risk responses delegate the owner for each potential risk and are agreed upon by all parties involved. There are four ways risk can be managed which are transferring risk, avoiding risk, reducing or mitigating risk and accepting risk. Transferring Risk: Risk can be transferred from an organization to its contractor and vice versa. This should be agreed upon prior to the project starting and detailed in the contract. All risk may not be transferred, sometimes only partial risk can be transferred. New Concepts may consider transferring risk to a contractor helping with coding when they do not believe they will not meet deadlines on a new system. Avoid Risk: Risk can be avoided ... • 39. The Underdog Plot Of Rudy Rudy, based on the life of Daniel Ruettiger, is the quintessential underdog story. The Underdog Plot is when the protagonist is at a disadvantage and the odds are clearly stacked against them. The underdog is a person who is popularly expected to lose. In the case this person wins, the outcome would be called a massive upset. Also, the Underdog Plot is a form of the rivalry plot; in the Underdog Plot, however, the strengths aren t equally matched. This plot type is supposed to hit our hearts because it represents the small over the large, and the weak over the powerful. • 40. Germany s Tug Of War For Unification Germany s Tug of War for Unification In the relatively short one hundred and thirty three years that Germany has been a nation, its borders have grown, shrunk, and changed hands many times. While currently it is a rather stable nation that most likely finally has established itself for the foreseeable future, it looks nothing like it did those 133 years ago. Even less than twenty five years ago it was a totally different nation than it is today. Germany s volatile borders of the past combined with its origins as a bunch of independent states being brought together under one flag has made it hard for Germany to truly be a unified nation. For being such a young nation it has been at the center of most of the world s historical highlights, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was the first time Germany was a centralized nation. There was the German Confederation which came about in 1815, to replace the Holy Roman Empire, or the First Reich. The German Confederation was comprised of 41 German states; this was not a government, however, more an agreement not to fight each other, and a promise to defend each other in the case of war. The states were still ruled by monarchies and there was no sort of currency or government body. In 1848 there was an attempt to unify the German states into a single nation. It was brought about by a revolution, which caused elections to be held, and a constitution to be drafted. This movement basically crashed and burned, however. There was debate because Austria Hungary was part of the confederation but the National Assembly which was convened felt Austria Hungary was too large and only really wanted the German speaking half in the nation. They didn t have the power to break up the state so leadership of the state would have fallen on the Prussian Emperor. He did not like the idea of having to act on behalf of the will of the people and rejected being emperor. This was basically the final nail in the coffin for that and the rebellion was then squashed. In 1866 following a war with Austria, the German confederation was replaced by the North German Confederation which was led by the Prussians and was cut down to 17 states. • 41. Comparison of Child Characters in Salinger s Teddy and... In J.D. Salinger s Nine Stories there are many tales centered on children, who are often depicted as a symbol of hope and connected with the values that stand in contrast to the ones typical of the adults corrupted by materialism. In my essay, I would like to concentrate on the portrayal of children in A Perfect Day for Bananafish and Teddy . Even though the way these characters are depicted is similar, a child protagonist in each of the stories is representative of different things. While Sibyl can be seen as a prototype of a childlike innocence, purity and simplicity, Teddy can hardly be considered a prototypical innocent child. Despite the simplicity of Sibyl s thinking, her presence and behavior help the reader draw many complex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The one trait of personality that Teddy and Sibyl share is the kindness. The kindness is evidence in both, Sibyl s treatment of Seymour and Teddy s behavior. When Teddy s sister tells the young boy that he is the stupidest person [she] ever met (176), Teddy kindly defends and reassures the young boy. In his journal it is discovered that all Teddy writes about are small kind acts that he wishes to do for other people: he wants to find and wear his father s dog tags because he thinks it will please him; he wants to write a condolence letter to someone who is ill, and he wishes to be nicer to [the] librarian (180 1). Sybil s presence and behavior leads one to many conclusions about the main adult in the story, Seymour Glass. Seymour s motives and values are clearly and concisely revealed through interaction with Sybil. Again, the color blue is used to show innocence. When Seymour takes off his robe to go in the water, it is discovered that his shoulders were white and narrow, and his trunks were royal blue (Saliger 13). Even by his name (Seymour see more), it is suggested that he is much closer to the nature of a child than to the materialistic adult world, he sees in life much more than they do. Compared to the geogenic background value of areas underlain by acidic igneous bedrock, which contain high concentrations of F bearing minerals, such as biotite or apatite (Reimann and Caritat 1998), the F concentrations of the drinking water in the CDR area near Kaduna are significantly lower. As the water samples were taken from surface sources and shallow, hand dug wells, where the main F source are the highly weathered parent rocks, the low F concentrations were expectable. However, since surface water and the shallow hand dug wells are the main drinking water sources of the local population, we assumed the overall F consumption via the rock water pathway to be low as well. In contrast, F concentrations in drinking water in basalt areas around Lake Magadi in Kenya, where dental fluorosis is endemic, are greater than 1.7 mg L 1 (Jones, Eugster, and Reitig 1977). In the Obuasi area and the Bolgatanga area of Ghana, where the local population suffers from dental fluorosis, the F concentrations are typically greater than 3.0 mg L 1 due to high contents of F bearing minerals in the granitoid basement rocks (Smedley et al. 1995). The development of sharecropping was associated with the endless debt cycles that afflicted the entire South well into the twentieth century. The freedmen endured an economic status likened to peonage, (Bowles, 2011) in addition to having their hopes for political and social equality dashed. The entire South suffered, it was the freedmen who paid the highest price. Ignorant and impoverished, they were easy targets for exploitation by landlords (Bowles, 2011) and merchants alike; moreover, their options were limited by the overt racism in the South, legal restrictions and partiality. Sharecropping resulted from the intense explicit or implicit desire of white Southerners to keep blacks subservient to them. African Americans possessed few skills, and those they did possess related almost exclusively to agricultural production; they owned no property but the clothes on their backs; (Bowles, 2011) Many dreamed of forty acres and a mule with which to begin life anew as an integrated part of American society and the proprietor of one s own land. Inside of a year, however, a different reality became obvious to most. By 1868, land confiscation and redistribution was not in the realm of American political possibility. • 46. Too Much Crying isn t a Good Thing Crying is undoubtedly one of the most common humanistic features when it comes to the emotions of the average person, due to the fact that every human being has shed tears for which ever reasons their emotions led them to. However, crying can also be the result of many other issues and can indicate a serious problem if done continuously and drastically to the point where it becomes a serious concern. In adolescents, it is more normal to cry as the child may not understand or know what to do about a situation, leaving them flustered, agitated, sad, angry, or any negative emotion causing them to cry. With these things being said, when crying is understood to be the result of an underlying deep rooted issue, the next step is to understand the enforcer that is keeping the behavior of crying continuous and figure out exactly how to decrease it to the point of normality. Crying has also yet to be examined systematically in isolation from other problem behavior, such as aggression or tantrums, during functional analyses (Hanley, Iwata, McCord, 2003). Identification of variables that may maintain crying is especially important for populations who are susceptible to psychiatric interventions (e.g., individuals who have intellectual disabilities and communication deficits). The current study extended functional analysis methodology to crying with an adolescent boy who had been diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. Results suggested that crying was maintained by caregiver ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soon the dripping of the bits of salt ceased, and in seconds would dry at the base of my ear. • 48. Women s National Soccer Team From a young age, children are conditioned to always think about what they want to be when they grow up. Many of them dream to be a ballerina, firefighter, or an astronaut. With age comes maturity, and those aspirations pass, but simultaneously new, more realistic ones arise. To reach these new goals, these children work toward their dream through dedication, which can be seen in the studying or training they do. In today s society females have more opportunity to do what they dream. There are young women who are assiduously working to get a college degree and a steady job. Then, there are also women who are training to become a professional athlete, with the aspiration of becoming a member of the United States Women s National Soccer Team (USWNT). In today s society, women can pursue their goals, however, if compared to men s sports, there can be differences seen that keep women from reaching full potential, equality, and their dreams. An evident and popular difference is the wage gap between men and women, especially after five members of the USWNT, filed a suit with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commision about a violation of the Equal Pay Act. Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan, Hope Solo, Becky Sauerbrunn, and Megan Rapinoe, later followed by Christian Press and Morgan Brian, have created a social movement to end what they call gender discrimination. Five of the previously stated women, expressed their opinions on the news show, 60 Minutes. They delve into why it is wrong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
