Vampirism In Dracula
The novel Dracula by Bram Stoker is revered by many as one of the most well known 19th century
Gothic horror because of its use of psychological and supernatural horror, which add on to the already
complex premise of the story. Along with this, Stoker s descriptions of his locations are vivid, which
help the readers in envisioning the ambience and intensity of the scenes, reinforcing the horror aspect
of the novel. Interestingly, the characters have been the subject to numerous scholarly studies, from
literature to psychology, because of their complexity, particularly Mina Murray. As such, this
adaptation intends to focus on those aspects of the novel with video game as the medium to focus on

With video game as its medium, it already reflects the modern view of media the new media, which
has become the norm of this current society. In addition to this, the adaptation translates the issue from
the 19th century in the eyes of 21st century audience. Whilst British imperialism is no longer a threat
nowadays, the advancement of technology still persists, especially with the creation of weapons of
mass destruction. Moreover, this adaptation also serves as a social commentary on the 19th century
ideologies, especially to gender and race. By having a diverse cast, it reflects the current population
world and the characters as representatives of these people. This adaptation also references other
adaptations of the novel, which parallels the presence of intertextuality from the text. In doing so, this
adaptation becomes the verisimilitude of the novel itself from bringing life to the Gothic elements to
the interactivity of a video game, and the experiencing the horror the characters experienced from the

Stare Decisis Precedent
Stare decisis and precedent are related because they both involve judges to use past decision in order
to make decision on more current decisions. When judges use precedent they look back on old court
decision on similar cases and then rule the same. When using stare decisis the judges will look back
on prior ruling and adjust their rulings for more modern day use for a more equal fairness under the
law. Both Stare decisis and precedents are important because with them the need for reviewing ever
case has lessened. Another reason is that it proves a more balanced and limits any unfairness in
punishment. However, just because they do promote fairness it doesn t mean that judges should only
be limited to past decisions. Over time new crime develop

The Effects Of Extracurricular Activities On College Students
As kids get into high school, most parents hope that their kids will join some kind of club or team. A
question parents might ask is, How involved should kids be in extracurricular activities or should they
even be involved at all? Extracurricular activities can be both advantageous and unpromising
depending on what the student plans on participating in and also how many activities the student plans
participating in. Many studies have been conducted trying to find the answer to those questions. One
great thing that comes along with extracurricular activities is that it looks great on college
applications. They won t know if you spend hours upon hours playing video games; they will certainly
notice a lack of notable activities on your college application (Extracurricular Activity). When
admissions offices for colleges are looking at students applications for their school, the first thing they
look at to determine if they even meet the requirements to get into that school is their grades. The next
criteria is the amount of work or activities the applicant is involved in outside of the classroom. If two
people have the same GPA and the same academic test scores, the admissions office will look at the
extracurricular activities that both of the students have participated in. The student that has done more
outside of the classroom will most likely be accepted over the student he/she was competing against.

Descriptive Essay About Yi Li
I came into the world, one fall windy night, on September 7, 2000, exactly 4 minutes behind my twin
sister. At 12:04 in the morning, when the roads were quiet except for the cries of the new born babies
at Brooklyn, New York hospital, I was born. My parents told me that my hand, not my head, came out
first. The reason behind this was because I was clinging to Yi Wen s leg with a firm grip and refused to
let go. Perhaps I didn t want to come out or I wasn t happy with being second to come out because
immediately after I was born, I cried and cried, and thrashed around with such force that my parents
decide to named me Yi Ling. My name, Yi Ling Ni, represents me fairly well in some ways of my life,
but as I grew up, I found myself pondering; why was I named this name? My name was chosen before
I was born. Knowing that we were twin girls, my parents thought of names that would fit for twins.
After consulting with my grandparents, known to be very wise when it came to Chinese characters and
poetry; the names Yi Wen and Yi Ling were chosen. The Ling in my name is a Chinese character that
represents one who is full of spirit, energy, and thinks very logically. So when my parents saw me as
the energetic child, they named me Yi Ling. Yi was a character given to many Chinese people s names
because it means to bring fortune and abundance in whatever they do. What I found interesting about
my name compared to Yi Wen s name was the Wen part of her name. Wen, another Chinese character,

Essay on The Butter Fly Effect by Eric Bress and J. Mackye...
The butterfly effect is written and directed by Eric Bress and J.Mackye Gruber the film has a pretty
great casting and has Ashton Kutcher, Amy Smart, Elden Henson, Eric Stoltz, Melora Walters,
Cameron Bright, William Lee Scott, Ethan Suplee and Logan Lerman. The movie is about Evan
Treborn played by Ashton Kutcher, now, when he was younger he deled with abuse, drama, and
suffered a lot of black outs and it follows when he is 7 years old and when he is 13 years old and then
when you see him in the present day. During his life a lot of things ended up going wrong, but there
was one girl that kind of makes everything better for him and who`s he`s been absolutely in love since

Then you have Tommy Miller, played by William Lee Scott, he is absolutely insane, he is pretty much
the evil villain in the movie, he is Kayleigh`s brother and he goes through a lot of character`s
transformation as well, but the majority of the movie he is evil and sinister as he can be, and he doesn
t really like Evan because he is dating her sister. And Evan`s mom, Melora Walters as Magnolia, and
she is this kind of pushy mother as her son is always getting involved in this serious bad situation and
she always put trough as a single mother to be able to keep up with her son and keeping him out of all
the trouble. And then we have Eric Stoltz that plays Kayleigh`s and Tommy`s father, he is kind of this
weird, crippy paedophile father and he treats a lot of distraction towards the second half of the film.
And then you have Ethan Suplee, who keeps on traveling back in time, And if Lenny is not his friend
(Evan`s), then Ethan Suplee is and he`s always got someone to kind of fall back to every dramatic
moment in his life that he keeps going back. Ethen Suplee is a little bit crazy in this movie. And last
but not least Logan Lerman when Evan is 7 years old. A lot of crazy stuff that happen in Evan s life is
that he goes a lot back when he was a kid to all the drama and abuse. The cinematographic of this film
has blue and those over tone. And the special fact of this movie is

Age Related Design
Everyday more baby boomers are qualified to collect social security; some may think it is the core of
elderly livelihood today but this in a misconception. According to The United States Social Security
Administration, social security benefits only account for about 38% of income for the elderly. Often
times a social security check can make a significant impact for bare necessity bills, which leaves a lot
of money left for older consumers to spend. This paper will examine what universal and age related
design are, the advantages and disadvantages, and a universally designed product that can be marketed
to an age related market, such as older consumers. Universal design is a product, or setting, that can be

This targets and accommodates a specific age and an emerging group with plenty of disposable
income, the baby boomers. More and more baby boomers are joining the elderly population by retiring
and collecting social security, and by mid 21st century 27% will be 60 and older. Retirees do not just
sit on their money, they spend are consumers! We will see in increase of consumerism simply from a
numerical standpoint since there are so many of them. Age related design works if there is an adequate
market for it, so pretty much the larger the market, the larger chance of making money. Therefore the
baby boomers would be the superlative target for age related design. However, age related design
demands attention to detail and requires understanding the individual needs of the targeted consumers.
A foundation that would help would be empathetic modeling. This method places the designer in the
shoes of the consumer, allowing him or her to understand the feelings, aspirations and fears of said
target. Thoroughly examining the individual s needs, will lead to superior real world performance.
Another vital aspect of designing for the older population is to know the demographic. Knowing the
consumer s status, such as if they are independent, dependent, wealthy or healthy helps in deciding
quality, functionality and price of the product. However, an area to avoid would be labeling products
as for the elderly because your targeted group may not see themselves as elderly or

Patient Education Essay
According to Healthy People 2012 there are more then 800,000 new cases of diabetes each year, with
the numbers on the rise. With this in mind, Healthy People 2012 has identified diabetes as their
number five focus area. In order to reach their goal of improving the quality of life for people with
diabetes they have identified diabetes teaching as their number one objective. Furthermore, in order to
reduce the number of complications of diabetes, Healthy People 2012 has identified foot ulcers as
their ninth objective. Through patient education Healthy People 2012 hopes to reduce the number of

factors involved it becomes obvious that J.L. is a diabetic patient in need of foot care teaching, in
order to prevent further complications. After identification of a patient teaching need the next step in
the teaching process is establishing a measurable goal. Teaching goals are broad in scope and set down
what is expected as the final outcome of the teaching and learning process (Wilkinson Van Leuven,
2007, p. 538). In order to achieve a high level of standard, teaching goals need to be specific,
measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. For our example, the teaching goal for J.L. and his
diabetic foot care is as follows: Client is able to state five things he can do to prevent diabetic foot
complications by the end of the teaching session implemented on Sunday January 24, 2012.
Specifically, the five items J.L. will identify are to monitor and manage his diabetes, inspect feet daily,
wash feet with warm water while drying between toes and apply moisturizing cream to feet daily (not
between toes), avoid walking barefoot or with unfitted shoes, and calling the doctor should he notice
any changes in his feet. In this case the level of prevention used, when implementing the diabetic foot
care teaching, is tertiary prevention. This intervention begins once the disease if obvious: the aim is to
interrupt the course of the disease,

Euripides was accused by his contempories of being a woman hater. Why do you think this was so,
and how justified do you think the accusation was?
Question
Euripides was accused by his contempories of being a woman hater. Why do you think this was so,
and how justified do you think the accusation was? In your answer you should consider not only how
Euripides portrays his female characters, but also the sentiments expressed in the plays and the
contempory view of women.
Answer
Euripides definitely had an opinion on woman that was not shared by many other play writes. Whether
it is hatred or not, women play a major role in a Euripian play. Their role in society of that time was a

They care more about the goddess Artemis and hunting, like Hippolytus himself. How she wastes

Clytemnestra in the Electra is the widow of Agamemnon, the national hero and adulterer. She killed
her own husband claiming that it was out of revenge for Agamemnon sacrificing their daughter,
Iphagenia.
She is tough and not easily misled. In the Electra she comes over as a strong willed mother who
cannot get on the same level with her daughter. Electra sarcastically mocks her mother and a quarrel
arises from any conversational topic.
Do; and you ll find he will stop persecuting you.
He lives in my house; and that makes him arrogant.
There you go, kindling the old quarrel once again.
Euripides shows the tension between the shallow Electra and single minded Clytemnestra. Neither of
them are heroines in any way and they are always shown in a bad light in the play, neither of them are
good characters; they both have serious flaws. Clytemnestra is loyal to Aegisthus even though they are
not married.
Electra is shown to be a whiney girl who wants people to see her humility. She has gone from a life of
nobility, the daughter of the heroic Agamemnon, to the wife of a peasant. All is not as it seems.
Underneath her pitiful self, she has not consummated her marriage with the peasant and the audience
have been made aware of this fact. As I have previously

Deception By William Shakespeare s Play
In William Shakespeare s play 1 Henry IV, deception is a recurring theme. Main characters King
Henry IV, Hotspur and Prince Hal deceived people to benefit themselves. Were these characters
deceiving their subordinates to gain power or were their choices and actions political strategy geared
toward gaining honor and maintaining the well being of the nation? All three main characters deceive
people to gain power which can be seen as an act of malice and disloyalty but also as a political
strategy. King Henry deceives King Richard II into believing that he is on his side while he is secretly
planning a rebellion, Hotspur does the same to King Henry by deceiving him into thinking that he is
on his side while also secretly planning a rebellion and Prince Hal deceives the kingdom s people into
thinking he is this wild child so they will be more impressed with him when he becomes the mature
prince and adequate potential leader he was expected to be all along. All of this deception brings up
the question, do the characters use deception purely for their own benefit or for the benefit of the
greater good? Shakespeare s use of deception for power shows these three characters true intentions,
for King Henry IV deception is used to gain power to benefit the kingdom while on the other hand, for
Hotspur deception is used to gain power for his own benefit and the benefit of his family while in
Prince Hal s complicated case, deception is used both for his own benefit and ultimately the

I oftentimes find that competition fosters the closest of relationships. This was how I came to know

children, thus I felt quite alone. An area I did manage to shine in however, was my academics. Upon

everyone makes it. He is truly a man of the people. I have experienced this firsthand. I am one of those

International Navistar 6.0l Powerstroke Case Study
International Navistar 6.0l Powerstroke
In 2002 a joint project between International Navistar and the Ford Motor Company was born. The
goal of this project was to create an engine that was fuel efficient, emission compliant and would be
able to outperform all of the competition (Banks Power). With over 2 million ford super duty s
equipped with the 7.3l Powerstroke engine on the road, the new engine would have big shoes to fill.
The engine that was to replace the outdated, underpowered and overall inadequate 7.3l Powerstroke
was the International Navistar 6.0l turbo diesel. The goal of the new engine was to provide customers
with an engine that had a higher torque output, more horsepower and could comply with the new

With a mere 275 horsepower it was outperformed by all competition. Along with the dreadful
horsepower, Ford owners complained that the trucks they purchased yielded inadequate miles per
gallon (Powerstrokehub). To compensate for both these issues, for introduces a much higher pressure
fuel delivery system that would allow for the cleaner burning of fuel and overall less fuel needed to
run the engine. Ford and International Navistar also introduced a newly designed smart turbocharger.
This allowed the turbo housing to expand and contract depending on the throttle position (Truck
Trend). This allowed for a quicker spool time of the turbocharger with allowed a quicker horsepower
gain and output resulting in better fuel economy. Tighter machining tolerances were also implied for
almost all of the engine components that went into the 6.0l Powerstroke allowing grater compression
of the engine and mitigating areas where oil, air or fuel could leak out under high pressures. With all
of these changes implemented that new 6.0l Powerstroke engine boasted a whopping 325 horsepower
and 516 foot pounds of torque (Banks Power). This gave customers a truck that could outperform all

Descriptive Essay On A Morning Run
This morning I woke up to do my morning run. I thought I would take a route through the woods
instead of the sidewalk. As I was running through the woods, I saw how gorgeous the forest really is.
The wind in my blonde curly hair, rain drops dripping off the bright green leaves onto me it cooled me

anything growing around it. It looked like a door.... As I get up to walk over to the dark green door
that blended in with the leaves. I touch the small handle and open the door up slowly, there is a bright
orange path. I stepped onto the path and the door shut quickly behind me. As I walked along the path I
saw a shiny silver key. As I picked the key up I noticed that it was a skeleton key! Although it was
strange because it looked brand new. I decided to keep the key in my pocket and to keep walking.. As
I got further along in the path I saw something else. As I got closer to the object I noticed that it was
shiny as well. I realized that it was a shiny golden cup made of glass. It was absolutely gorgeous, it
had a E on the side. The cup had no marks, scratches, or anything. First I find a key now a cup! I

Enrique s Journey, My Head
The entire time I was reading Enrique s Journey, I kept asking myself, What would I do? If my mother
left me to go to another country when I was five, would I try to find her years later? Would the
abandonment and neglect by my family members lead me to resort to drugs? Would I make an eighth

other questions, ran through my head as I read Enrique s Journey, the story of a Honduran teenage boy
s attempt to reunite with his mother, Lourdes, after she leaves him for the United States. Lourdes, a
single mother, leaves her children with obviously good intentions she wants to get a better job and
send money back to her children, but it is hard not to resent her a little. As I was reading, I kept trying
to think of ways Lourdes could have stayed with her family in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and still have

Alka Seltzer Research Paper
Alka Seltzer is a medicine that acts as a pain reliever and an antacid. Antacids are used to help
neutralize the acids in the stomach and help treat acid reflux, heartburn, indigestion, and gastritis. The
tablets contain sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) and citric acid (C6H8O7). The sodium bicarbonate is a
base that helps neutralize the acids in the stomach, mainly hydrochloric acid (HCl). It does this by the
following reaction: Na3C3H5O7(aq) + 3HCl(aq) H3C3H5O7(aq) + 3NaCl(aq). When the tablets are
dropped into the water, a reaction occurs in which water (H2O), sodium citrate (Na3C6H5O7), and
carbon dioxide (CO2) are formed.
Gastritis, one of the conditions Alka Seltzer helps treat, occurs when the stomach lining is damaged or

What Is The Theme Of The Starry Night By Vincent Van Gogh
In 1889 Vincent van Gogh painted The Starry Night from his room in an asylum. Most artists
paintings have something to do with their lives. This painting has a lot of different brush textures with
a lot of little details. It looks like a calm quiet night by the tone of the colors, but somewhere there is
something going on, hence the flames. By just glancing at this it may seem like there is not much
going on but by looking at some parts closely, it is noticeable. In the painting The Starry Night by
Vincent van Gogh there is a bunch of different textures added to the painting with details of a small
town during the night time.
Everyone can agree that the painting appears to be at night due to the color schemes. Choosing cool
tones instead of using vivid colors gives the interpretation on what time of day it is. The color that is
spread all throughout the painting is dark blue with a variety of types of blue fading off. Someone that
just takes a glimpse may think there are just blobs of yellow in the sky, however if you concentrate
you will realize they represent stars. The stars have a center dot in the middle with yellow and white
shades fading off into the sky making them extremely bright. Back in the day any light that came from
the sky was the source of light once the sun went down. In the top left corner, you can notice the crest
of the moon, that is vividly shaded in with a dark yellow. The painter continues his technique of
showing the amount of light both the stars

Blood Healing
Many people have heard different theories about why President Washington died. The most common
one though, seems to be the fact that he was blood let, leading to his subsequent death. If that does not
seem unusual enough, how about people drinking their own poop. Well believe it or not, people have
been known to do that willingly, mainly for various medical reasons, one being fecal bacteriotherapy
(FBT). Another even stranger solution people came up with for curing maladies, is trepanation the act
of drilling holes in others heads. All of these unusual practices have led to valid current day medical
procedures. Blood letting was a common practice used throughout history as a cure for everything
from acne, to the plague, to bleeding, and everything in between! Galen s four humors theory
contributed to this idea greatly, with the thought that there were four substances in the body that had to

little, they would ill. Blood letting is still used today to treat the blood disorder hemochromatosis,

The cycloconverter is a frequency converter, which converts sinusoidal voltage from a constant 50/60
Hz network frequency to a lower, 0 24/28 Hz output frequency for synchronous motors (our Azipods
operate at 13.3 15 Hz). The cycloconverter is able to work in all drive quadrants (motor, generator and
rotate in both directions) without any additional equipment. This type of frequency conversion uses
thyristors to change the voltage and frequency straight from the supply frequency. Motor speed is
varied by sending pulses to the gates of the thyristors. These machines can also be started, stopped,
reversed and decelerated by regenerative braking. Cyclo converters rectify positive and negative parts
of cycle to create an AC waveform at a lower frequency (less than a third of the supply frequency)
Lower motor frequency complements low prop shaft frequency. Although a large amount of ripple in
the voltage waveform, the current is smoothed by motor and line inductance. Larger frequencies cause
higher ripple, so they are frequency limited. The basic cycloconverter is connected as a back to back 6
pulse Thyristor bridge. It is used in several configurations depending on the motor phase number and
cycloconverter pulse number. Cycloconverter drives Control electronics is divided into two parts, the
Application control and Drive control. The application control gathers all information from the
cycloconverter and forwards it to the upper automation. It also receives

Stolen Art of the Holocaust
While death was the major tragedy of the Holocaust, all of the art stolen was definitely a dark spot.
Most people don t realize, but the art was taken from all Jews and many others by the Nazis. Some
pieces of art have been found, but most still remain lost. Many that have been discovered are in
museums and are not given to the true owners. There should be efforts spent on finding and recovering
the art stolen by the Nazis to return it to their rightful owners. Hitler would have his soldiers take the
art from the homes where the Jews lived when they took them away. Sometimes, if he wanted a
specific work of art, he would have his people steal it or take it and kill the people who owned it. He
would have his men steal all of the art and other artifacts from the homes of every person they took to
the concentration camps, as well as those they simply killed in their homes. Taking the art was his way
of taking everything from them, and a way that he could show his superiority over them. He took it
because it was something they had that he wanted. Very few works of art taken by Hitler have been
found, and many that are discovered reside in museums. Some have been discovered in museums or
galleries in Austria, while thousands still remain lost. Recently, a long lost Monet and other art
treasures stolen from Jews during the Holocaust have been discovered in the home of an 81 year old
German art collector, Julian states (Julian). Cornelius Gurlitt, the art

A Chemical Is Not Be A Carcinogen Or Cancer Causing Agent...
According to the Text book by Gayle Woodside A chemical is considered to be a carcinogen or cancer
causing agent under OSHA regulations if it has been evaluated by the international Agency for
Research on Cancer (IARC) and is listed in the IARC latest edition of monographs as carcinogen or
potential carcinogen (Woodside 1999). By using the correct PPE in according to the MSDS for the
right task it can reduce the risk of cancers for employees and first responders. Most physically
hazardous injuries a majority of the time will be from burns and normally be from a chemical burns or
burns from flames or explosions. Welding metal can switch metal to a temporary hazardous material
which can cause burns, by physically changing the metal by increasing the heat that is applied to the
metal whether aluminum or steel and or some of other alloy. According to OSHA The intense light
associated with welding operations can cause serious and sometimes permanent eye damage if
operators do not wear proper eye protection. The intensity of light or radiant energy produced by
welding, cutting or brazing operations varies according to a number of factors including the task
producing the light, the electrode size and the arc current (OSHA 2012).
When possible the engineering controls should be in place, in the working environment to reduce risk
to personal when working with or around hazardous material and or hazardous waste. These
engineering controls can include storage, transportation

Essay On The Cultural Invasion Of Canada
The American Cultural Invasion of Canada
Canada s national obsession seems to be its own identity. For many years Canada has feared the
increasing influence of its North American neighbors on its culture the United States . It has become a
matter of growing concern for the people of power and influence in Canada to maintain their separate
cultural identity and to promote their own cultural norms. Gaetan Tremblay presents his views on this
topic and does this from the perspective of a person living and working in Quebec.

common cultural heritage; reminds the readers there is certainly a separately identifiable Canadian ...

The Quebec government controls communications in its own territory to defend its own Quebecois
culture which try to stand on its own, separate from the North American. The feature that creates this
difference is the fact that they have a different language when compared to the rest of the continent.
This generally makes it easier to protect their culture. Unlike the Canadian government, America on
the other hand operates communication in a free trade environment just like any other commodity and
is deeply committed to deregulation allowing free competition. Along with this, America also tries to
pressurize its neighbors to follow the same pattern set by them. They do this because they are not
insecure about their culture the way Canada or Quebec is. The American government does not force or
intervene and make policies to encourage or promote their culture since they are well aware of the fact
that their culture is taking over the continent and slowly seeping in to the media markets all over the
world; therefore knowing that their cultural identity is far from danger. The broadcasting in America is
so well established and technologically advanced that they do not fear to operate in free market
conditions because they are the ones who are more likely to benefit from this. On the other hand
Quebec and Canada are not yet ready to face the fierce competition from United States while
struggling to maintain their own identities.

The Alchemist, By Paulo Coelho
We as humans like to believe that we have the power to control our own destiny. However, at the same
time, we take comfort in knowing that there is some higher power which assures everything happens
for a reason. This conflict can be seen in many popular literary works today. For example, The
Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, dives into how man is the creator of his own destiny. It even goes as far
as to say that the world s greatest lie is that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what s
happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. (Coelho, 18) Coelho insinuates that every
event in one s life can be controlled by one s own actions. That whatever fate has been given to
someone is based off what they have previously done ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

are beings whose entire lives are centered around ourselves; even if we are chess pieces on a master
board, we believe that we choose our own moves. Ultimately the only way to achieve happiness is to
continually choose to seek it. Since most of us will never meet our higher power until after our life has
been completed, it is up to us alone to pick ourselves back up when we fall. We choose to set the
course of our life and how we will achieve our goals and, even if we are being steered by the wind, as

Different Types of Communication Devices

Router
A router is a network device that routes packets to networks other than its own. Routers are almost like
a bridge between networks. Most home use routers to connect their local network (their LAN) to the
Internet (which is a wide area network) with all in one devices with routers, modems and wireless
access points built in.
Routers decide where the best route to a destination is using a file called the routing table , which has
a list of different ways to get to one direction, quantified by the metric, which determines the distance
of the path to travel so the router can efficiently pick the best path to use.

Expenses / Cost
The set up of a wireless network will generally rely on the cost of wireless routers, wireless network
adapters for every device, wireless access points (WAP) spread across the locations and installation
fees. This works out to be more expensive than a wired network.
Relatively cheaper but can be costly depending on the type of wired connections used and installation
fees. However, Ethernet, copper cables and switches are less expensive as opposed to the features
required for a wireless network. Fibre optic cables can be a lot more expensive, but the price of
installation and cable vary based on needs, area of installation and metre coverage.
Installation
Installation of wireless networks are relatively easy they often simply involve playing a wireless
access point in a place where the signal reaches the most areas. In more advanced installations, it is
common to use a radio mapper to determine where the signal does and does not reach, for practicality
and security reasons. The power of the router is important to consider and often can be adjusted on the
software side to suit the

The petri dish with the highest hatching viability was the 1.0% dish. No, the results did not support my
prediction in the pre laboratory question #2. My prediction did not match the results because in the

it wasn t too concentrated and it wasnt too little.
Explain, in terms of natural selection, why one saline solution yielded the highest hatching viability of

One of the limitation was that the experiment was unable to simulate the effects of predation. In an
actual environment some of the brine shrimp eggs could have been eaten before they are able to hatch,
but since this was in a petri dish there was no such thing as predators that have reduced the hatching
viability of the brine shrimp eggs. Another, limitation was the exact amount of brine shrimps you
could brush up. This made the hatching viability to not be as accurate because there was different
amount of eggs to start with. If there was an equal amount of eggs to begin with the hatching viability
percentage would have been more accurate since they all started the same. These two limitations made
the experiment not as reasonable because it stopped what could have happen to these brine shrimps in

The Importance Of A More Effective Type Of Teacher...
Danielson s main purpose in writing the article is to explain the need for a more effective type of
teacher evaluation system. She wants to describe the weaknesses of the checklist type of teacher
evaluations that has been used as the norm in the past. Danielson describes a more effective form of
teacher evaluation that will be useful for the administrator and also the teacher. Teacher evaluations
are very critical in decision making for schools because this is a way for them to credibly show the
school board that they have highly effective teachers and at the same time allow those highly effective
teachers an opportunity to grow and learn in the situation. Danielson suggests that in the past
administrators have been more worried about the decision making process and being able to give
evidence that the teachers they have hired are doing an high quality job.
Danielson describes two main reasons why we should evaluate teaching including making sure that
you have high quality teaching and for professional development. She makes the point that these two
reasons are not able to be met by the old method of checklist evaluation. For a teacher evaluation to be
effective and useful they need to be able to meet both types of criteria including evaluating high level
teaching and professional development. Danielson explains that when thinking about the criteria of
evaluating high level teaching that there are important parts of the process that creates a valid
evaluation process.

The paper therefore recommends zero based budgeting to Nigeria at all levels (GJSS, 2012).
Sometimes inefficiencies result due to poor integration of the finance and strategy. Budgeting and
performance are typically overseen by the finance department, whereas planning s coordinated by
strategy department. Often, the two processes aren t well integrated, resulting in strategies that are
often dictated by the budget process instead of vice versa (Gary 2003). The reason for this could be
that everyone involved may be attempting to accomplish the same goals, but also trying to make sure
that the outcome will be beneficial to them, such as a substantial bonus or a reward. A budget cycle
refers to the whole process from the commencement of developing a budget to the execution of the
final charge on the budget. Since the majority of the budgets are prepared for a one year period,
budget cycles cover the costs and expenditures for a period of one year. However, there are budget
cycles that run for more than one year period. Government budgets have a budget cycle of at least 18
months from the conception of the various departments budgets to the time the appropriation bills are
signed into law (Hyde, 2001). The initial steps of the budget cycle take place in the various
departments and agencies. The program

Gender Roles In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott
Victorian literature is a literature written in England during the reign of Queen Victoria, or roughly
from 1837 1901. It is largely characterized by the struggle of working people and the success; of right
over wrong. It happened to be in the Victorian era (1837 1901) that the novel became the leading
classification in English. Women played an important part in this rising popularity both as authors as
well as readers.
Little Women is a novel by American author Louisa May Alcott (1832 1888), the title of the book was

It is not the same as sex and it is not the same as women. Gender is determined by the origination of
tasks, functions and roles attributed to women and men in society and in public and private life.
Gender plays an important role in Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Due to strong Protestant
influences, nineteenth century American life stressed the importance of hard work, social propriety,
and religious piety. With these social norms came rigid views of gender roles. Women especially were
limited as to what their status was in this society (Clark, 2004). Louisa May Alcott s novel, Little
Women, tries to illustrate a favorable portrait of the honourable lives that four young girls and their
mother lead in their allotted roles in this patriarchal culture. The book becomes almost an instruction
of how young ladies should act in order to gain respect, find husbands, and then experience happiness
in their further lives. In Little Women, one of the March girls, Jo, is the most resistant to bind, this
social opinion. At a very young age, Jo dislikes the restrictions put on her by being a female; I can t

Positive Aspects Of Love
Through several types of research and experiments, Barbara Fredrickson concluded that love is a vital
nutrient in the human body. She claims that love is the body s supreme emotion , however, negative
emotion is just as important. The essay focused primarily on the positive aspects of interaction and
barely touches upon the negative. Fredrickson makes it seem as though love is the only emotion the
human body needs in order to survive, but that is false. Human social interaction is all composed of
psychology and biology. Every human is different, and not all expect to receive positive resonance
when speaking to another. In actuality, negative emotions are necessary for one to develop and fully
understand the positive... being happy all the time is absurd
Fredrickson claims that positivity resonance is beneficial to the human body. Despite this, there are
several negative social interactions that occur everyday. She seems to be suggesting that people should
only be positive. Though many people try desperately to attain a lifetime of happiness and positivity,
they cannot. Humans have several different emotions, and no one can be positive all the time. When
an infant and parent do click, their coordinated motions and emotions show lots of mutual positive
engagement... They connect over mutual distress or indifference, rather than over mutual affection
(Fredrickson 116 117). During this experiment, it is proved that children and parents connect over how

Persuasive Essay On Plastic Bags
A pile of plastic bags sits on the floor from the last shopping trip. A trip that consisted of long lines
and other customers screaming children that needed their nap. What do you do with the bags? Maybe
throwing them away would be easy, but why waste those hard earned plastic bags if you could do
something with them? If you make your monstrous pile of bags into a rope, they won t be wasted. A
rope can be used for many things including tug of war, tire swing, etc.
If you want to start a project, it would be good to have the materials. You will need heaps of plastic
grocery bags in order to make a rope from them. The exact number of bags depends on how long you
want your rope to be. You will also need scissors. When you start the project, you will need some floor
space.
Now that you have all of your materials, you can start preparing to make the rope. Take nine bags and
lay them on the floor next to you. Now pick up one bag. There should be a seam under each of the
handles of the bag. Find both seams. If there are no seams, then the next part will be a little more
difficult.
For this part, you can either use your hands or pick up your scissors. Rip or cut at the top of the seam
under the plastic bag s handles and continue down to the base of the bag. Do NOT cut the base of the
bag. Cutting it will weaken your rope and make it harder to work with the plastic. Now that you have
finished one side of the bag, do the same for the other side of the bag. Once this is done,

In order to evaluate this hypothesis, the student had to compute their exact salivary amylase
concentration as measured in milligrams per millilitres, the number of amylase gene copies encoded in
their DNA, and their ancestral dietary starch consumption. Ultimately this would aid in determining
whether a correlation exists amongst genome evolution within populations, individual gene duplicate
numbers and protein concentrations (Tracey 2017).
For the protocols employed throughout the study refer to the Winter 2017 Biology 1A03 Laboratory

Summary Of Devil s Arithmetic By Jane Yolen
Author s Purpose Tone
By:Vianey Rojas
The death camps were horrid and prestigious about the Jews.Treating people like they are any less.
In the two divergent pieces of the Holocaust composition inform their audience with very similar
purposes. Yet both have contrast tones. In The Devil s Arithmetic,by Jane Yolen, stridulous conditions
are happening in the death camps. Yolen s purpose of writing Devil s Arithmetic is that she is
persuading us with her prestige and acknowledgement for Jewish traditions and for the impeccability

This displays that Jane Yolen was influenced by experience of the camps and about the
holocaust, therefore empowering others to act upon the truth. This is important because she is
convincing us about what happens in the atrocious death camps. This contributes to Jane Yolen s tone
of compassion throughout the book because she knows that Jews have been through so much agony
and despair in the camps. They have sacrificed so much just to be alive. This shows prodigious
courage. Yolen also states, We forget because remembering is too painful. (Pg.163). This portrays on
how she feel on the Holocaust and that she can feel from experience how appalling it must feel. Yolen
approaches this as a dreadful time with unending benevolence, compassion, and

Essay On Invasive Species In Florida
There are many invasive species that populate Florida. An invasive species is defined as a plant,
animal, or fungus that has come to occupy a location aside from its native grounds. Often times,
because Florida is not their homeland, these animals play a negative part in the ecosystem. Because of
this, the citizens affected are often forced to seek means of removing these animals to eliminate their
negative effects. The Burmese Python, the Green Iguana, and the Wild Boar are just a few examples of
some of the invasive species that can be found in Florida.
The Burmese Python is an invasive species that resides in Florida. Being 200 pounds and twelve to

Caribbean Islands, and Southern Brazil. These lizards were first documented in Miami, Florida in
1964. They most likely are in Florida because they were previously pets, or they were illegally
dropped in channels. Although these animals may seem fairly harmless, within their feces lies
salmonella, which can be harmful. ( Florida s Iguana Infestation ) In regards to Florida s ecosystem,
the Green Iguana does not belong. Due to other nonnative animals negative impact on Florida s
ecosystem, it is believed that these animals are likely to bring detrimental issues as well. ( Feral
Iguanas in FL ) To many, the Green Iguana is thought of as pesky and vexing , causing people to call
trappers to remove them. After they are captured, the trapper will either freeze their bodies and await
their deaths or euthanize them. ( Florida s Iguana Infestation ) The last invasive species to be

  • 2. Vampirism In Dracula The novel Dracula by Bram Stoker is revered by many as one of the most well known 19th century Gothic horror because of its use of psychological and supernatural horror, which add on to the already complex premise of the story. Along with this, Stoker s descriptions of his locations are vivid, which help the readers in envisioning the ambience and intensity of the scenes, reinforcing the horror aspect of the novel. Interestingly, the characters have been the subject to numerous scholarly studies, from literature to psychology, because of their complexity, particularly Mina Murray. Whilst British imperialism is no longer a threat nowadays, the advancement of technology still persists, especially with the creation of weapons of mass destruction. Moreover, this adaptation also serves as a social commentary on the 19th century ideologies, especially to gender and race. By having a diverse cast, it reflects the current population world and the characters as representatives of these people. This adaptation also references other adaptations of the novel, which parallels the presence of intertextuality from the text. In doing so, this adaptation becomes the verisimilitude of the novel itself from bringing life to the Gothic elements to the interactivity of a video game, and the experiencing the horror the characters experienced from the ... When judges use precedent they look back on old court decision on similar cases and then rule the same. Both Stare decisis and precedents are important because with them the need for reviewing ever case has lessened. • 5. The Effects Of Extracurricular Activities On College Students As kids get into high school, most parents hope that their kids will join some kind of club or team. A question parents might ask is, How involved should kids be in extracurricular activities or should they even be involved at all? Extracurricular activities can be both advantageous and unpromising depending on what the student plans on participating in and also how many activities the student plans participating in. Many studies have been conducted trying to find the answer to those questions. One great thing that comes along with extracurricular activities is that it looks great on college applications. They won t know if you spend hours upon hours playing video games; they will certainly notice a lack of notable activities on your college application (Extracurricular Activity). When admissions offices for colleges are looking at students applications for their school, the first thing they look at to determine if they even meet the requirements to get into that school is their grades. The next criteria is the amount of work or activities the applicant is involved in outside of the classroom. If two people have the same GPA and the same academic test scores, the admissions office will look at the extracurricular activities that both of the students have participated in. The student that has done more outside of the classroom will most likely be accepted over the student he/she was competing against. ...maintaining good grades will look better on a college ... • 6. Descriptive Essay About Yi Li I came into the world, one fall windy night, on September 7, 2000, exactly 4 minutes behind my twin sister. At 12:04 in the morning, when the roads were quiet except for the cries of the new born babies at Brooklyn, New York hospital, I was born. My parents told me that my hand, not my head, came out first. The reason behind this was because I was clinging to Yi Wen s leg with a firm grip and refused to let go. Perhaps I didn t want to come out or I wasn t happy with being second to come out because immediately after I was born, I cried and cried, and thrashed around with such force that my parents decide to named me Yi Ling. My name, Yi Ling Ni, represents me fairly well in some ways of my life, but as I grew up, I found myself pondering; why was I named this name? My name was chosen before I was born. Knowing that we were twin girls, my parents thought of names that would fit for twins. After consulting with my grandparents, known to be very wise when it came to Chinese characters and poetry; the names Yi Wen and Yi Ling were chosen. The Ling in my name is a Chinese character that represents one who is full of spirit, energy, and thinks very logically. So when my parents saw me as the energetic child, they named me Yi Ling. Do; and you ll find he will stop persecuting you. He lives in my house; and that makes him arrogant. There you go, kindling the old quarrel once again. Euripides shows the tension between the shallow Electra and single minded Clytemnestra. Neither of them are heroines in any way and they are always shown in a bad light in the play, neither of them are good characters; they both have serious flaws. • 14. Deception By William Shakespeare s Play In William Shakespeare s play 1 Henry IV, deception is a recurring theme. Main characters King Henry IV, Hotspur and Prince Hal deceived people to benefit themselves. Were these characters deceiving their subordinates to gain power or were their choices and actions political strategy geared toward gaining honor and maintaining the well being of the nation? All three main characters deceive people to gain power which can be seen as an act of malice and disloyalty but also as a political strategy. King Henry deceives King Richard II into believing that he is on his side while he is secretly planning a rebellion, Hotspur does the same to King Henry by deceiving him into thinking that he is on his side while also secretly planning a rebellion and Prince Hal deceives the kingdom s people into thinking he is this wild child so they will be more impressed with him when he becomes the mature prince and adequate potential leader he was expected to be all along. All of this deception brings up the question, do the characters use deception purely for their own benefit or for the benefit of the greater good? Shakespeare s use of deception for power shows these three characters true intentions, for King Henry IV deception is used to gain power to benefit the kingdom while on the other hand, for Hotspur deception is used to gain power for his own benefit and the benefit of his family while in Prince Hal s complicated case, deception is used both for his own benefit and ultimately the ... Along with the dreadful horsepower, Ford owners complained that the trucks they purchased yielded inadequate miles per gallon (Powerstrokehub). To compensate for both these issues, for introduces a much higher pressure fuel delivery system that would allow for the cleaner burning of fuel and overall less fuel needed to run the engine. Ford and International Navistar also introduced a newly designed smart turbocharger. This allowed the turbo housing to expand and contract depending on the throttle position (Truck Trend). This allowed for a quicker spool time of the turbocharger with allowed a quicker horsepower gain and output resulting in better fuel economy. Tighter machining tolerances were also implied for almost all of the engine components that went into the 6.0l Powerstroke allowing grater compression of the engine and mitigating areas where oil, air or fuel could leak out under high pressures. Most artists paintings have something to do with their lives. This painting has a lot of different brush textures with a lot of little details. It looks like a calm quiet night by the tone of the colors, but somewhere there is something going on, hence the flames. By just glancing at this it may seem like there is not much going on but by looking at some parts closely, it is noticeable. In the painting The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh there is a bunch of different textures added to the painting with details of a small town during the night time. Everyone can agree that the painting appears to be at night due to the color schemes. Choosing cool tones instead of using vivid colors gives the interpretation on what time of day it is. The color that is spread all throughout the painting is dark blue with a variety of types of blue fading off. Someone that just takes a glimpse may think there are just blobs of yellow in the sky, however if you concentrate you will realize they represent stars. The stars have a center dot in the middle with yellow and white shades fading off into the sky making them extremely bright. Back in the day any light that came from the sky was the source of light once the sun went down. In the top left corner, you can notice the crest of the moon, that is vividly shaded in with a dark yellow. The painter continues his technique of showing the amount of light both the stars ... The most common one though, seems to be the fact that he was blood let, leading to his subsequent death. If that does not seem unusual enough, how about people drinking their own poop. Well believe it or not, people have been known to do that willingly, mainly for various medical reasons, one being fecal bacteriotherapy (FBT). Another even stranger solution people came up with for curing maladies, is trepanation the act of drilling holes in others heads. All of these unusual practices have led to valid current day medical procedures. Blood letting was a common practice used throughout history as a cure for everything from acne, to the plague, to bleeding, and everything in between! Galen s four humors theory contributed to this idea greatly, with the thought that there were four substances in the body that had to be kept in balance to stay healthy. The cycloconverter is a frequency converter, which converts sinusoidal voltage from a constant 50/60 Hz network frequency to a lower, 0 24/28 Hz output frequency for synchronous motors (our Azipods operate at 13.3 15 Hz). The cycloconverter is able to work in all drive quadrants (motor, generator and rotate in both directions) without any additional equipment. This type of frequency conversion uses thyristors to change the voltage and frequency straight from the supply frequency. Motor speed is varied by sending pulses to the gates of the thyristors. These machines can also be started, stopped, reversed and decelerated by regenerative braking. Cyclo converters rectify positive and negative parts of cycle to create an AC waveform at a lower frequency (less than a third of the supply frequency) Lower motor frequency complements low prop shaft frequency. Although a large amount of ripple in the voltage waveform, the current is smoothed by motor and line inductance. Larger frequencies cause higher ripple, so they are frequency limited. Many that have been discovered are in museums and are not given to the true owners. Danielson describes two main reasons why we should evaluate teaching including making sure that you have high quality teaching and for professional development. She makes the point that these two reasons are not able to be met by the old method of checklist evaluation. For a teacher evaluation to be effective and useful they need to be able to meet both types of criteria including evaluating high level teaching and professional development. Danielson explains that when thinking about the criteria of evaluating high level teaching that there are important parts of the process that creates a valid evaluation process. ... The paper therefore recommends zero based budgeting to Nigeria at all levels (GJSS, 2012). Sometimes inefficiencies result due to poor integration of the finance and strategy. Budgeting and performance are typically overseen by the finance department, whereas planning s coordinated by strategy department. Often, the two processes aren t well integrated, resulting in strategies that are often dictated by the budget process instead of vice versa (Gary 2003). The reason for this could be that everyone involved may be attempting to accomplish the same goals, but also trying to make sure that the outcome will be beneficial to them, such as a substantial bonus or a reward. A budget cycle refers to the whole process from the commencement of developing a budget to the execution of the final charge on the budget. Since the majority of the budgets are prepared for a one year period, budget cycles cover the costs and expenditures for a period of one year. However, there are budget cycles that run for more than one year period. Government budgets have a budget cycle of at least 18 months from the conception of the various departments budgets to the time the appropriation bills are signed into law (Hyde, 2001). Gender is determined by the origination of tasks, functions and roles attributed to women and men in society and in public and private life. Gender plays an important role in Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Due to strong Protestant influences, nineteenth century American life stressed the importance of hard work, social propriety, and religious piety. With these social norms came rigid views of gender roles. Women especially were limited as to what their status was in this society (Clark, 2004). Louisa May Alcott s novel, Little Women, tries to illustrate a favorable portrait of the honourable lives that four young girls and their mother lead in their allotted roles in this patriarchal culture. The book becomes almost an instruction of how young ladies should act in order to gain respect, find husbands, and then experience happiness in their further lives. In Little Women, one of the March girls, Jo, is the most resistant to bind, this social opinion. At a very young age, Jo dislikes the restrictions put on her by being a female; I can t get over my disappointment at not being a boy...I can only stay at home and knit like a pokey old woman (Clark, ... She claims that love is the body s supreme emotion , however, negative emotion is just as important. The essay focused primarily on the positive aspects of interaction and barely touches upon the negative. Fredrickson makes it seem as though love is the only emotion the human body needs in order to survive, but that is false. Human social interaction is all composed of psychology and biology. Every human is different, and not all expect to receive positive resonance when speaking to another. In actuality, negative emotions are necessary for one to develop and fully understand the positive... being happy all the time is absurd Fredrickson claims that positivity resonance is beneficial to the human body. Despite this, there are several negative social interactions that occur everyday. She seems to be suggesting that people should only be positive. • 39. Persuasive Essay On Plastic Bags A pile of plastic bags sits on the floor from the last shopping trip. A trip that consisted of long lines and other customers screaming children that needed their nap. What do you do with the bags? Maybe throwing them away would be easy, but why waste those hard earned plastic bags if you could do something with them? If you make your monstrous pile of bags into a rope, they won t be wasted. A rope can be used for many things including tug of war, tire swing, etc. If you want to start a project, it would be good to have the materials. You will need heaps of plastic grocery bags in order to make a rope from them. The exact number of bags depends on how long you want your rope to be. You will also need scissors. When you start the project, you will need some floor space. Now that you have all of your materials, you can start preparing to make the rope. Take nine bags and lay them on the floor next to you. Now pick up one bag. There should be a seam under each of the handles of the bag. Find both seams. If there are no seams, then the next part will be a little more difficult. For this part, you can either use your hands or pick up your scissors. Rip or cut at the top of the seam under the plastic bag s handles and continue down to the base of the bag. Do NOT cut the base of the bag. Cutting it will weaken your rope and make it harder to work with the plastic. Now that you have finished one side of the bag, do the same for the other side of the bag. Once this is done, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Correlation Between Regional Gene Evolution Through the process of this study, students intended to illustrate the presence, or lack thereof, of an affiliation between regional gene evolution, globular gene copy number variation, and individual protein production status (Tracey 2017). It was hypothesized that the student s ancestral diet included relatively high levels of starch rich foods; thus the number of amylase, alpha 1 (AMY1) diploid gene copies that they retained and their production of the amylase enzyme would be significantly higher than the mean values of the students as a collective. In order to evaluate this hypothesis, the student had to compute their exact salivary amylase concentration as measured in milligrams per millilitres, the number of amylase gene copies encoded in their DNA, and their ancestral dietary starch consumption. For the protocols employed throughout the study refer to the Winter 2017 Biology 1A03 Laboratory Manual, experiments two through eight (Tracey).
