The Role Of Gender Challenging Role Models
The use of gender challenging role models in the classroom is a method I am going to use during
my final professional practice and during my year as a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT). I am
going to use these demonstrate to both girls and boys that the media depiction of success is not
accurate and that success can be measured in various ways. Role models such as Marie Curie,
Dian Fossey and Mary Anning are good historical figures to use but children could see these as
dull despite their achievements. Although I do consider the use of these women as role models
important, I feel that a role model who children can relate to and that they see in everyday life
would be more successful in challenging genderstereotypes. To encourage girls ... Show more

The importance for teachers to be positive role models is set out by the government in the Teachers
Standards (Department for Education, 2011). I believe, as a male teacher, that there is an extra
responsibility for me to model gender neutrality. I believe it is important for the boys in my
classroom have both a positive masculine role model and a male figure in their life that is not
afraid to embrace so called feminine aspects of life. I would like the boys in my classroom to
understand that there are not boy jobs and girl jobs both in school and at home. I will model this
by explaining my role at home; doing the dishes, hoovering, ironing and being a family man;
activities that some may see as not very masculine. I will show that there is no such thing a girly
colours by wearing a pink shirt from time to time. Most importantly I would like to challenge boys
perception that education is feminine. Although research totally refutes the assumption that boys
attainment improves when they are placed with a male teacher (Drudy, 2008; Francis et al, 2008;
Read, 2010), There seems to be a particular kudos that some male teachers get from children.
Whether this is due to their minority status in primary education (National Union of Teachers,
2016) or due to masculinity being given a superior social standing (Skelton, 2011a). Consequently,
it important for male teachers to use this

Archetypes In Pan s Labyrinth
Pan s Labyrinth is a story about of a young girl named Ofilia, goes on a hero s journey to return
to the underworld to be with her father. In the The Esoteric Interpretation of Pan s Labyrinth the
writer points out that there is mystical and archetypal symbolism found throughout the movie. In
the the esoteric interpitation of pan s labyrinth the writer does a great job of pointing out many of
the architypes in the movie, but leaves out a few that I think are in the movie. The essay does a
good job of creating a summary of the movie, and then they talk about different types of architypes
in the movie. The first architype is when ofelia places the the missing eye back in t0 the monument
of the faun. This shows that Ofilia has an ability to see or believe in fairy tales, and she notices that
adults do not have the ability to see things that cannot be physically seen. When Ofilia placed the
eye into the monument starts her quest.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ofelia than her actual mother, and I feel like this was an important piece of the movie that was
not discussed in The Esoteric Interpretation of Pan s Labyrinth The hero s journey is clear in pan

Team Building within the Gaming Industry
Introduction A team is a group individuals with various skills and assets working together
towards a common goal. The goals of the teams come in various aspects and forms that require
the skills of all team members. Team building is the process of enabling ones team or group in
order to reach their goals. Reaching the goal will consist of the Team s leader involvement in the
few stages of team building. Within the team building stages are sets such as clarifying the goals to
the team letting them know what the main priority is. The second stage is the Identification of all
of the problems that can push back the team delaying them from reaching the goals. Addressing the
problems and enabling the goals to be completed. Bringing the team together is essential when
building a team this includes getting along with the team and understanding one another as well as

Injury In Texas
If I was able to reach a wide audience, the social issue I would campaign for is stricter and more
con sistent jail terms given for the charge of Injury to a Child. The jail time for this charge differs
from state to state, but also from county to county within those states. While researching this
subject, I found sentences for Injury to a Child in Texas that ranged from two years up to thirty
eight years. The following are examples of fathers hurting their children, one of which resulted in
the child s death. Anton Juel Henry (30) of Waco, Texas, pled guilty to murder
and injury to a child,
as a part of a plea deal, in connection to the 2014 death of one of his two month old twin boys
(Carroll 2017). He was given a forty eight year prisonsentence for the murder charge and... Show

month old son; there was evidence that there had been multiple incidences of abuse (Engle

Stephen Davis (22) of Waco, Texas was arrested in 2009 for injuring his three month old
daughter (Talbert 2009). Doctors determined there were two separate incidents of abuse that
resulted in injury (2009). Davis is serving a ten year prison term for the incident ( John Stephen

caused by recklessness or negligence (2017). Injuries are differentiated as: 1) serious mental

Francis Macomber
Intentions Unseen The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber by Ernest Hemingway is a story
of a married couple s trip on an African safari for hunting. It is on that trip where the audience
learns of the couple s, who are Francis and Margot Macomber, uneasy relationship. On that trip,
they also meet a character by the name of Robert Wilson, who becomes their guide there. The
story ends tragically with the death of Francis Macomber by being shot in the head by his wife
Margot. At first while reading, one would think Francis death was accidental because the situation
was chaotic, with a buffalo trying to attack them. However, others have said it to be with intent.
Margot Macomber s state of mind was in panic and fear, but her... Show more content on

He finds himself having no fear after that event and claims his manhood at that time. This
change in Francis opinion about himself was recognized by Margot, resulting in her anxiety,
because she realizes that Francis now has the capability to leave her. Having also committed an
act infidelity, there is no escape and no telling what Francis would do next to their relationship.
Margot had always liked having control over Francis, so his sudden courage scares her. An
analysis also states: Though Francis s mate value is greatly increased by his successful shooting
of the buffalo, and evolutionary thinking would lead us to expect that this should benefit his
wife, it is in Margot s case a threat, due primarily to his knowledge of her infidelity (Sugiyama).
This could result in Margot s frustration and believing that the only thing left to do was to kill
him. If she killed him, there was no way for him to divorce her, and she could have his belongings,
including money, to herself. As said by Grant, the relationship between Macomber and Margot is
based on their mutual weaknesses and could not have survived his maturity. Insecurity playing a
role in their relationship was significant. There are particular events in the story that show that
Margot was to blame for Francis death. After Francis was shot, Wilson is telling Margot that she
could have killed him by poison, because that is

Ethics in Corporate Communicatons Essay
Code of Ethics Assignment 2
Andrea Denette

Integrated Corporate Communication, Comm 3010
Paul Lindsley, M.A., ABC
The word ethics has many definitions depending on who you are speaking with and if it is business
related. One person may tell you that ethics has to do with what is right and wrong. Another may
say it has to do with that law of the land. In fact there are many interpretations and definitions for
ethics. In Corporate Communications there is a totally different set of code of ethics. The
standards for professional communicators are similar to each other and they also have their
differences in relation to their actual profession. I am going to compare and contrast the different

the year 2000. The new codes focus is on universal value that inspire ethical behavior and

codes but the Board of Directors is still able to bar anyone from membership to the Public
Relations Society of America. The Public Relations Society of America believes in advocacy,
honesty, expertise, independence and fairness. There are six Public Relations Society of

Sub Saharan African Countries Have Experienced Macro...
In recent years, sub Saharan African countries have experienced macro economic growth. The
growth rate per annum averaged 5.2% over the past decade between 2000 and 2011 (Kulundu,
2013). The growth rate has outpaced Middle East, Latin America and Eastern Europe after being
the slowest growing region for many years. In Tanzania, the growth rate averaged 6.8% from
2005 to 2011. It was ranked 1st in East Africa and 8th in sub Saharan Africa. In 2014 the GDP
was expected to grow by 7.2% and continue growing at annual averaged rate of 7.7% in medium
term (MOF, 2014). Ifzal et al (2007) observed that, economic growth does not guarantee all people
to benefit equally, because growth itself is not sufficient for povertyreduction. If poor or
marginalized people are left behind, it will result in increase of income inequality (Ifzal et al
2007). Vijayakumar et al (2012) showed the importance of economic growth by identifying its
effect in the economy. It s observed that, if GDP growth decreases by 1%, it might trap 20 million
more people into poverty. Therefore, it is evident that unstable growth will definitely have severe
adverse impact on vulnerable groups of people in the society. Furthermore high and increasing
levels of inequality may reduce the effect on poverty reduction resulting from a given rate of
growth. Thus inequality has implications for social cohesion and political stability required for
growth sustainability. This has been studied in several research works that have

Police Brutality Against Black Men
Honestly, there seems to be an ongoing battle between Black men and Law enforcement. Police
Brutality against Black men is at an alarming rate. The history of violence, discrimination,
supremacy, and disregard for the law has been morally accepted amongst our Society. Besides
that, the seemingly higher number of men being killed by law enforcement could be attributed to
poverty stricken communities, which have higher crime rates, racial bias, and sinful pride!
Recent events have become so detrimental that black men try to avoid confrontations and
committing crimes altogether in fear of losing their lives. Moreover, Black men today are not as
submissive to law enforcement, and policies as their ancestors were in the past. Today s Black
men are more aggressive toward law enforcement due to fear of the outcome of a simple search
and procedures. This mentality happens because black men fear going to jail, getting shot, being
misunderstood, or simple injustice. Stereo typed and learned behavior also play a vital role in these
type situations.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Objectives Of The Paper To highlight the prospects of GST. To study the challenges faced by
government in the execution of GST.
Research Methodology
The proposed paper is mainly descriptive in nature. It is solemnly based on secondary data and
information which is collected from the concerned sources as per need of the research. The relevant
books, documents of various ministries/departments and organizations, articles, papers and web
sites are used in this study.
Goods and Services Tax: Its Need In India:
Introduction of GST to replace the existing mutiple tax structures of Centre and State taxes is not
only desirable but imperative in the emerging economic environment. Increasingly, services are
used or consumed in production and distribution of goods and vice versa. Separate taxation of goods
and services often requires splitting of transaction values into value of goods and services for
taxation, which leads to greater ccomplexities, administration and compliances costs. Integration of
various taxes into a GST sysytem would make it possible to give full credit for input taxes
collected. GST, being a destination based consumption tax based on VAT principle, would also
greatly help in removing economic distortions and will help in development of a common national
market.

The Role Of Music Festivals On The Inner City Muslim...
In Iranian jails, artists, musicians and filmmakers are held as prisoners on charges of insulting
Islamic sanctities through their work. Coordinated by Amnesty International, the #FreeArtists
social media campaign was recently launched to secure artists release. Considered the nail in the
coffin for freedom of expression in Iran, the imprisonment of these artists was an attempt by Iranian
authorities to silence what was considered sacrilegious rhetoric in their works. For most Americans,
the ability to freely practice artistic expression is often taken for granted. For MuslimAmericans, the
opportunity for freedom of expression is taken and used to further the aims of their community. As a
community, Muslims in the United Statesface increasing challenges from anti Muslim rhetoric,
divisive political speech and negative media portrayals. The arts are used by organizations like the
Inner City Muslim Action Network (IMAN the Arabic word for faith) as a site of opportunity,
engagement and representation. Specifically, music festivals are used by Muslim Americans to
assert cultural identity, create and connect communities and establish a positive cultural presence in
the United States. Chicago s Takin It To The Streets event provides a unique lens through which to

The Pre Raphaelites are at a more extreme end of traditional art ideals, Ophelia is beautiful; she is
an idealistic image of a woman, even in death, and the viewer is invited to sympathize with her and

Benefits Of Homework In School
Imagine being a student at EJMHS having college classes to be attractive to other colleges. These
classes take up students after school time. For students to do all of their homework, and study for
tests and quizzes is difficult because they have no time. There is a pressure for students to take
upper level classes and that means more homeworkand not enough timeto work on all of it. This
problem is grievous. As a student, can say that I have times where I struggle with the amount of
homework that given each day, It is a very lamentable feeling when this happens EJMHS must add
an EDP to the school schedules to prevent stress, create study time, and provide family time.
To begin, stress is a primary reason why EJMHS must add an EDP to all class schedules, having
too much homework and not having any time to do any of it in school is causing students stress.
In fact, they actually found that 49 percent of students reported feeling a great deal of stress on a
daily basis, and 26 percent stated that they had been diagnosed with depression because of it.
With this being said, EJMHS must add an EDP. Along with that, students are expected to obtain a
quality night of sleep which is 8 hours. As a student I, do not obtain a full 8 hours of
sleep.Students are in their bedroom doing homework up to 2 hours at a time, in fact, at least once
a week, I witness students who fall asleep in class. Students do not sleep at night because they are

Airbus claimed that its latest aircraft, A330neo had been upgraded and it would be as fuel
efficient as Boeing s new 787 Dreamliner (Business Insider, 2014). This is an important
advancement in technology because 33% of the operating costs of airlines was spent on fuel (Air
Transport Action Group, 2014).
An advance in aircraft technology that reduced fuel consumption reduced the total operating costs
of the plane. The more fuel efficient an aircraft was, the bigger the distance travelled by that
particular aircraft with a set amount of fuel. This allowed an airline to expand its network and
consider routes that they were unable to consider before. However technology evolved quickly
and if a better aircraft is launched soon after an airline has bought the previous version, the
previous version would most probably become obsolete in a short period of time. In addition to
that, there was a high possibility that the start up cost of buying new aircrafts could be a cost
burden in the short term.

The ASEAN Open Skies policy was implemented earlier this year (ASEAN Briefing,

Essay about Analysis of A Clockwork Orange
Analysis and Interpretation of A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess, is one of the most experimental, original, and
controversial novels of the twentieth century. It is both a compelling work of literature and an in
depth study in linguistics. The novel is a satirical, frightening science fiction piece, not unlike
others of this century such as George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four or Aldous Huxley s Brave
New World. However, the conflicts and resolutions in A ClockworkOrange are more philosophical
than social, and its message is far more urgent.
A Clockwork Orange is made up of three parts containing 21 chapters, 21 being the official age of
human maturity. It is a stream of consciousness novel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Nadsat, orange means man (which is derived from the Malay word orang, meaning man ), so
a clockwork orange would be a man moving without pause or thought, as a clockwork (Lund).
Burgess says of the title, I mean it to stand for the application of a mechanistic morality to a living
organism oozing with juice and sweetness ( Resucked x). After the state reforms him, the novel s
hero and narrator Alex becomes a clockwork orange, a man working as a machine.
Nadsat is the primary language, although not the exclusive one, of A Clockwork Orange. Burgess
claims he uses it to muffle the raw response we expect from pornography. But he also uses it to
create a literary adventure ( Resucked x). The use of Nadsat emphasizes many of the struggles
involved with A Clockwork Orange s purpose. The struggle between the old and the young the
conservative and the progressive is made more sensational by the separation of language. Alex is
misunderstood by his parents, the police, and the government philosophically, but also literally,
widening the gap between him and the sane world.
Burgess also manipulates language in A Clockwork Orange in more traditional ways, in the form of
literary and linguistic devices. The novel is saturated with irony and dark humor, dotted with
repetition, and laced with word play.
Irony is used extensively A Clockwork Orange. One of the most repeated and significant examples
of irony is in Alex s description

Becoming A Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
For as long as I can remember, I have always desired to work in the healthcare field. At an
extremely young age, I wanted to become a doctor. Later on in life, I wanted to be a pharmacist.
During my sophomore year of high school, I finally decided that I wanted to become a nurse. At
this time, I did not know what kind of nurse I wanted to become, but I knew that nursing was my
purpose. What I found to be the most captivating was the broadness of the field of nursing.
Pursuing this further, I could work in any environment that I longed for. After further researching
this particular field, I finally decided that I wanted to be a Neonatal nurse practitioner. Neonatal
nurse practitioners serve as primary caregivers for premature babies and other newborns who
require special care due to low birth rate, respitory distress, congenital heart defects or various
other abnormalities and disorders (education portal). The road to becoming a Neonatal nurse
practitioner is not easy. Of course, one must obtain undergraduate education before beginning
neonatal studies. Community colleges offer associates degrees in nursing and four year
institutions offer a bachelors. Aspiring nurse practitioners must earn a master s degree or doctor of
nursing practice degree in Neonatal Nursing. These programs generally take two to three years.
Training is provided by the employer after graduation during class and in the NICU through a
mentorship. This training may take anywhere from six weeks to

Children s Emergent Literacy Development
The type of (HLE) a child is in can significantly impacts a child s emergent literacy development.
(Senechal, Lefevre, Thomas , Daley, 1996; Sawyer, et al., 2014; SГ©nГ©chal LeFevre, 2002;
Senechal LaFevre, 2014). HLE is defined by the frequency of storybook reading and literacy
teaching during book reading(Sawyer, et al., 2014, p. 65). SГ©nГ©chal LeFevre (2002 2014)
conducted a study to prove that a positive and helpful HLE aids in children s emergent literacy.
The Home Literacy Model used proved the original hypothesis. There was a statistically
significant predictor of parent s creating a positive HLE and frequency of shared book reading
that positively correlated to the child s literacy abilities for the beginning of grade 1. Shared
book reading comprises 4% of the significant differences with the child s vocabulary. The formal
literacy measures presented by the parents like, actively listening to the child read and the
method the parent uses to teach, was deemed most helpful as a predictor for the child s reading
abilities by the end of grade 1. The study concluded that a positive HLE promoted growth within
the child s vocabulary and word reading skills (SГ©nГ©chal LeFevre, 2002; Senechal LaFevre,
2014).
Important factors that contribute to a positive HLEs to children with emerging literacy vary.
Typical predictors of high quality HLE are seen through the number of children books in the home,
the amount of library visits attended with the child, the

The relationship and interaction between XML and databases
ECET610 UMUC
Abstract
This paper will explore the relationship between XML and databases and the way that they can be
leveraged to provide data exchange on the internet. As XML gains popularity as the format for
exchanging information via the internet and has become the language of choice for use in database
development for Internet use.Introduction
XML is a universal data standard and thereby does not need to be translated for use in different
database systems. This is very important with large corporate data systems. In companies that have
web presence this is a vital concern where some of the data base systems are handled by external
companies that use an entirely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This presents a scalability problem in that when the system contains a few thousand documents the
performance tends to degrade and become a management issue. Synchronization is also a problem
between the non database code and the database. If changes are made to the database structure the
XML pointers need to be updated as well and the system is not very portable.
The XML mapping style of data storage is used by web sites that map user inputs into XML
schema that manages the storage and retrieval of the data as shown in the example Figure 1. This
is an effective method when the existing data is in XML format.
Using XML to simplify processes
The flexibility of XML has made it the standard for the formatting and sharing of data via the web.
XML data is easily transferable across machines and applications and is not constrained by the
operating system of the host machine. This ease of translation enables XML to be transformed into
non XML formats for use with databases and their associated applications.
An XML database is a database that stores the data fields in XML format. This allows for cross
platform transferability and web page presentation. A web application is typically done in three
layers the back office code in Java or a

Most of the characters in the TV show, The walking dead, are white and they speak with each

dominate each other and be the head of the group. In the show, they even show that there is a
dispute between the main protagonist and his son when the son tells his father that he is not

on the show that it is racist but the show producers have denied any such claim. The Asian
American and black cast have been given roles which are either too little or are killed off

by the critics and the viewers who claim that women are given minor roles and their influence on

2.Analyzing The Internal and External Environment (SWOT Analysis) a.Strengths: Dunkin
Donuts is very popular in its industry and has established a powerful brand and image through its
efficient operations, low prices and the wide range of high quality products it offers. Moreover,
the company experiences economies of scale as it has many operations worldwide. In addition
they have significant bargaining power against their suppliers due to the experience they obtained
and the support they acquire from Allied Domecq, one of the strongest companies in the market.
b.Weaknesses: Dunkin Donuts considers themselves as a retailer, for that reason, they are not well
equipped to produce the bagels themselves. They rely on outsourcing this can have its drawbacks
as they become too dependant on suppliers. c.Opportunities: The increased acceptance and the
growing demand for bagels as a breakfast and lunch item has estimated to spread across the
boundaries of the United States and seep into the international arena particularly Europe. Bagels
appeal to consumers because they are a versatile product they can appeal to many different tastes by

Deduction Research Papers
Every ninety eight seconds an American is sexually assaulted; by the end of this paper, multiple
people will have been hurt. Someone may find themselves asking why these things happen, and
how can they stop it? The problem exists deep within society, and societal change can take a
lifetime if not multiple lifetimes. That means this nation will have to take on every single
instance of these vile crimes one at a time, which is no small feat considering it occurs in the
millions in this country alone. It s a hard subject to understand as both a man, and a subject I can
only see from the outside in. To come up with a solution to end the problem is something far
beyond the reach of my skills in deduction and ability to create tools to prevent these things from
happening. That means I can only deliver these three points as to how we should react. Firstly,
everyone needs to listen, then we must teach men, and finally create or adapt a system for proper
legal recourse. This battle will be long, but one should be hopeful because humankind s
compassion is inherent, born with the capacity to love exponentially, it is only a problem when
we remove that from the equation. To begin, victims need to be heard, and it really is as simple as
that. Tens of thousands or maybe even more victims go without ever speaking out against their
perpetrators and the actions they commit. This is more than likely because women are scared of
what could happen to them if they share, as well as the

Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is when someone is experiencing episodes of cessation of
breaths during sleep because of their upper airway relaxing and obstructing air flow during sleep.
The episodes usually last for ten seconds or greater and is usually accompanied with a decreased
oxygen saturation. Although the airway is relaxed and obstructing airflow, the body (brain) is still
attempting to breathe. When breathing has resumed from its apneic state, there is usually a loud
gasping snore and or body jerking which can lead to restless sleep for the person with OSA and
their partner. According the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute more than twelve million
people in the United States have this clinical disorder. People who have OSA may be sleepy in the
day and experience subsequent disorders such as oxyhemoglobin desaturation, pulmonary
hypertension, right sided heart failure, arrhythmias, myocardial infarction and diabetes. Proper
diagnosing and treatment of a person with OSA can yield optimal results thereby improving quality
of life.
Some causes or risk factors of Obstructive Sleep Apnea are being overweight or obese, having a
large neck, having a narrow airway, high blood pressure, diabetes, being middle aged, and having
a genetic predisposition. Patients with OSA seem to have high cholesterol with an increase in
LDL s and a decrease in HDL s (good cholesterol (Nadeem R, 2014). Intermittent sleep or sleep

The Issue Of Equal Pay For Equal Work
The issue of equal pay for equal work performed by women; is a political hot button in the 2016
presidential campaign. So much so that the stump speeches, for both former secretary of state
Hillary Clinton, and senator, Bernie Sanders, always include this issue. Since the 1960s, congress
and many researchers have tested this theory. In order to affirm the validity of this message, we
will perform a five step hypothesis test. In the book, Statistical Techniques in Business Economics,
authors D. Lind, W. Marchal S. Wathen (2012), describe how to conduct this test of hypothesis.
We seek to determine if two sampled populations, females and males, have the same mean
(arithmetic average) wages. The process begins with only the raw data from a 2005 wages
database. As a result, the authors further explain: The method described does not require that we
know the standard deviations of the populations (2012). For that reason, we assume the sampled
populations are equal, but, the standard deviations are unknown. Then, we use the t test as the test
statistic, with 30 degrees of freedom.
Problem Statement In an online article entitled The Simple Truth About the GenderPay Gap ,
published on the AAUW website, author Catherine Hill, PhD, had this to say: Did you know that
in 2014, women working full time in the United States typically were paid just 79 percent of what
men were paid, a gap of 21 percent? The gap has narrowed since the 1970s, due largely to women s

Bronze Coins Essay
Archaeologists have discovered nine 1,400 year old bronze coins that may have been hidden by
Christians trying to escape Persian invaders on a highway leading to Jerusalem in Israel. In June,
the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) conducted an archaeological dig ahead of a widening
project for Highway 1 situated between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The scientists found a two story
structure, a winepress, and nine bronze coins that ate back to the 7th century C.E., Haaretz details.

the archaeologists date the coins. Earlier this month, Live Science published a story on the

Research Paper On Marching Band
Marching Band: The Struggle is Real What comes to mind when someone mentions marching
band? Is it the music, uniforms, or the movements? Marching band is the sport in which
musicians play while they march on a field to make shapes, but it s not as easy as it looks? They
have to practice a lot, even during the summer; some practices are even 12 hours long. Even
through all of this it is a great sport to take part in. This year was my first year in marching bandand
it was hard! I had to go through a lot of different struggles. Before school even started this year I
came to school Monday through Friday for two weeks to learn how to be in marching band. The
first week we practiced from 8 to 6 and during the second week we practiced from 8 to 8. That is
a 12 hour practice. At practices we would start with stretches then start our conditioning. That is
where we would walk for one minute, jog for 45 seconds then sprint for 15 seconds: repeat. We
did this for 10 minutes. After we conditioned we would have a water break. If you join marching
band, you start to understand why people always say to stay hydrated because it can cause some
serious problems. Usually during the water breaks Abby, Jema, Corbin and me would talk all
kinds of stuff from Corbin s leg hair to bras and food. Sadly our water breaks aren t very long. We

Robert Frost Ambiguity
The Ambiguity on Robert Frost s The road not chosen
The road not chosen is a beautiful poem written by Robert Frost, which raises the metaphor of life
as a journey in which alternatives force us to choose which path to follow. When we come to a
fork, a crucial point of the journey, we must make a decision. We know that the future will depend
on that choice. We can choose the most traveled road, the one that most people would choose (by
habit or comfort) and therefore , will be easier since the path is marked, or venture down the road
less traveled and build our own path, make our way before the difficulties, face obstacles and
unforeseen events.
The poet walks in the forest, has the option to choose between two roads that fork in a path of a
yellow forest. The poet chooses the least traveled, but thinks about the possibilities that would have
implied having taken the other path, the unelected one. He is aware of the difference, that this
choice and this non choice will be perpetuated in the causal chain of his life. Live this feeling as a
slight feeling of loss, rather than as a full anguish that would be the certainty of its unfathomable
finitude. The poet concludes that he would have taken any path, since they ... Show more content on

Flexible Budget Research
Introduction
A budget is considered as a standard to facilitate control work activities of the organization. Budgets
are planning tools prepared firstly to start the period being budgeted. Valuable information about the
performance contains of the difference between the actual results and the planning budgets.
Therefore, budgets are both planning tools and performance evaluation.
The most common important element in budget is some measure of anticipated output such as the

3. Determine the actual volume of output achieved. 4. Before a flexible budget can be produced,
managers must identify fixed costs and variable costs. Fixed costs are costs which will not increase
or decrease over a given range of activity. Variable costs are costs which will increase or decrease
over a given range of activity.
Management have identified that the following budgeted costs are fixed:
Direct labor = $8,400
Overheads = $53,000
Identifying the expected variable cost per unit produced and sold:

Now that managers are aware of the fixed costs and the variable costs per unit it is possible to
flex the original budget to produce a budget cost allowance for 1,000 units produced and sold. For
the costs which are wholly fixed or wholly variable the calculation of the budget cost allowance is
fairly straightforward. The remaining costs are semi variable, which means that they are partly
fixed and partly variable. Setting the flexible budget:

historical example of undeniable significance Adolph Hitler. In fact the entire phenomena of the

thirst for occult powers, the remarkably advanced technologies they were developing, and
aspirations to global dominance of white, blue eyed Aryans all point to the presence of at least
one, if not several, key players in their ranks of extraterrestrial origins.

changes directly related to the larger and present Chicano presence. The most notable being the
prominent presence of Chicano specific gangs. This is likely due to the fact that many people of
Chicano descent are immigrants who came to America with little to nothing. This resulted in large
groups of Chicanos being located in some of the poorest areas. Such areas became known as barrios
, a Spanish term for neighborhood that became specifically in reference to the poor neighborhoods
with a high Latino population. The people living in them were often working the lowest paid and
hardest jobs needed by those of a higher class in society. It is commonly found that when poverty is
heavy throughout a community, many youth will feel the need to act out in some way, and band
together in their mutual discontent with their surrounding environment and society. In addition,
many youth were also dealing with trying to identify themselves as something and weren t sure if to
identify themselves as latino, chicano, or something

Impact Of Technology On Health Care Industry
Empirical Essay Main Idea The article, IT Based Capabilities, Service Innovation, and Quality in
Health Care, focuses on how there have been many developments in technology which could be
utilized to effectively deliver services within the health care industry (Thambusamy Palvia, 2011, p.
1). Through innovation, health care facilities are expected to provide top quality care to patients.
Technology has made that possible; however, prior to this study, it was unsure if the two had any
correlation. The research that was conducted involves the term service in the health care industry
(Thambusamy Palvia, 2011, p. 1). Three Important Facts One fact that the article emphases on is
the importance of how customers are demanding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5). If a medical facility believes that they are providing the best quality of service to the patients,
possible improvements will go unidentified. An example would be to reexamine the EHR
program that is being utilized periodically to determine if an upgrade or new program would be
more beneficial for the employees and patients. There are numerous EHR programs that are
being developed and/or constantly undergoing improvements. Although a program is effective
for the facility and patients, it does not signify that it is providing the best quality of care. Lastly,
health care facilities that use IT to improve their capabilities for service innovation and service
quality have the potential to enhance their organizations strategic and operational performance
(Thambusamy Palvia, 2011, p. 17). Innovation in the health care industry is pertinent for
providers to be able to ensure not only the quality of care is exceptional but also to contribute in
reducing medical errors. Allowing patients to have access to selected parts of their medical record
allows the patients to have an active role in their health. Ideas Our text and the article discussed
how IT can also be used by health care facilities to improve

Examples Of Spiritual Warfare In C. S. Lewis The Screwtape...
Spiritual Warfare Ephesians 6:12 says, For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts
of wickedness in the heavenly places. In the book The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, Uncle
Screwtape sends a collection of letters to Wormwood, always signing your affectionate Uncle
Screwtape. Screwtape, the older demon, counsels Wormwood on how to tempt the patient , a
human. Through the course of the letters his Patient becomes a Christian. When his patient die, the
human ascends to heaven and Wormwood descends to Hell. We can all agree these demons were
manipulative and harmful, but we disagree whether they are pitiable.... Show more content on

Throughout the letters Screwtape gives Wormwood (or Lewis gives us) many examples of lies
from the demons. Although there are several lies, there are four deceptions, which I thought are
most interesting. The first is having pride in humility. When the patient is humble Wormwood is to
point out his humility, therefore reversing his obedience into pride. The second exposed deception
is a distraction from the truth. When studying authors or philosophers the patient Wormwood
encourages him to ask about the authors background, why he wrote it, or how he came to his
conclusion. All these questions are good, but Wormwood purposefully uses these questions to
distract his human from questioning the truth. I believe Lewis believes this question is important
because it is important to evaluate a belief as good or bad on the basis of truth. The third lie is
praying for someone else s sin. In the book, Wormwood s assignment is to encourage his patient to
pray for his mother s faults, so that the patient focuses on her faults. Lastly, the fourth lie the patient
believes is in his misdirected anger. Screwtape encourages Wormwood to direct the Patient s hatred
of their enemy in war to his neighbors, and his good intentions toward strangers, that way his
virtues are closer to fantasy than reality. In result, the patient was kind to strangers and hateful to
family and close friends. Lewis brilliantly exposes these lies in an intriguing and thought provoking

The War Of The American War II
World War II is one of the most prolific events in American history. While soldiers were away on
foreign soil, thousands of Americans at home were doing their part as well. For example many
citizens worked in factories across the nation producing the supplies the military needed to
accomplish their goal. When people think of the places that most frequently furnished these
products the common perception is that most products were manufactured in the northern industrial
states, although this is not always the case. Throughout the war Louisiana played a critical role in
adequately preparing for the war. Andrew Higginshas become famous for his role in inventing the

Louisiana played an important role in nearly every aspect of America s success in World War II,
and likewise, it deserves to be highlighted. The American army lacked adequate preparation to go
to war in 1941, but that soon changed. Nearly half a million soldiers participated in a series of
military maneuvers, or games, across mostly north Louisiana. Fourteen of the 27 divisions of the
army took place in these events. The Louisiana maneuvers have become one of the largest
peacetime military maneuvers in American history. This practice proved to be important for the
army. Brigadier Raymond H Fleming explained that everything the United States Armyhad, except
for bullets, would be turned loose in Louisiana. This allowed for the soldiers, most of them being
newly enlisted, to gather wartime experience. Likewise, not all commands were fully equipped with
the latest technology, but through these games the ill equipped commands were able to see the
effectiveness of the new technology. The soldiers that endured these games went through full paced
war like maneuvers. The Army was divided into two and simulated a mock war between each other.
The two armies went back and forth between over the course of ten days. They struggled through
long hours and simulated combat. Along with the struggle of

were the first to be liquidated and some of the Jews From Lublin were the first to be sent to the
Belzec extermination camp during Operation Reinhard, which marked the beginning of the Final
Solution of the Jewish Question in Europe. Goeth accepted bribes from some of the Lublin
ghetto Jews during the selection Process, and put them on the list to be sent to a labor camp,
rather than to the Belzec Death camp. In February 1943, Goeth received a promotion and became
the third SS officer to hold The job of Commandant of the Plaszow labor camp. While he was the

Challenges Of The Transcontinental Railroad
The Transcontinental Railroad was a great engineering achievement that brought a more efficient
means of transportation from the Eastern United States to the Western United States. There were
many challenges for the development of a project that everyone agreed was necessary for the
development of the country. These challenges included a nation that was divided by the Civil War,
as well as how such a project could be financed and planned for. The completion of the
Transcontinental Railroad rapidly increased America s population in the West, and gave the
Country the ability to protect itself on boast the East and West Coasts. The expansion in the West
included taking over lands from the Native Americans who lived on the land. This was the
downside associated with the Transcontinental Railroad. The completion of the railroad brought
about a great appreciation for the contributions of the Chinese immigrants and allowed many to
improve their lives. The completion of the Transcontinental Railroad was a great accomplishment
that helped the United Statesdevelop as a nation. The Transcontinental Railroad could not have been
achieved without the invention of the locomotive. The idea of the locomotive was first thought of
by James Watt in 1769. Watt had a patent on the design of the locomotive engine but never really
developed the idea. The benefits of the locomotive did not become a reality until an Englishman
named Charles Stephenson developed the first

Women in Singapore Should Be Allowed to Fight in the Front...
Women in Singapore should be allowed to fight in the front line Being part of the front line combat
refers to being part of the most advanced tactical combat units forming a military line. Women in
Singapore should be allowed to fight in the front line. It is undeniable that it would require high
physical strength that most women lack, but women can be trained to be just as capable as men, if
not better, or assume front line positions requiring less physical strength. The generalised statement
of women being weaker should not restrict them from taking up front line combat positions. Women

It would only be fair to give equal opportunities to women who are able to meet the same
requirements as men and it would also promote equality with them being as capable as the men.
Restricting women because they are weaker is a generalised statement and not a fact that
associates with specific women. Major Gregory Trahan was witness to a female supply sergeant
replacing a trained infantryman after running through a gauntlet of seven mortar rounds that
exploded continuously as the three vehicle convoy he was commanding came under fire during
his 2003 2004 tour in and around Ramadi, Iraq. When the squad automatic weapon (SAW)
gunner in her truck was shot, but not severely injured and was too terrified to get back on the
gun, she radioed back to Major Gregory Trahan and received instructions to get someone back up
there, so she put the gunner in her seat, got up, and started pulling security with the vehicle. The
irony was, the gunner who had been pulling security on that truck was the armorer, who was an
infantryman and the backbone of the army, while she was just a supply sergeant, and women
were barred from the job of that armorer. Army Major Christopher L Heureux was witness to a

Essay On Mas Selamat
The escape of Mas Selamat was one of the major political scandals that occurred in Singapore,
which involved the one and only prison break of a highly dangerous terrorist.
Mas Selamat bin Kastari began his involvement in terrorism in the early 90s when he joined a
precursor movement to the Jemaah Islamiah (also known as the JI) group. An Indonesian born
Singaporean, he headed to Afghanistan for training, where he devoted his time and attention to
gaining knowledge of the Taliban system of governance in his early thirties. He was also suspected
to have devised the plot to bomb Singapore Changi Airport in January 2002, followed by the
planning of hijacking a plane scheduled from Bangkok and crashing it into Singapore Changi

2009, which later was confirmed by both the Singapore and Malaysian governments. Mas Selamat
was being held under the Internal Security Act by the Malaysian government, based on the ground

Mas Selamat was deported back to Singapore for detention under the Internal Security Act on 24

Spread Of Buddhism Dbq Essay
In the sixth century B.C.E., the religion of Buddhism was founded in India. Seven centuries later,
the religion would find itself arriving in China in the midst of the Han Dynasty. In China, there
were many different views of the religion as it arrived and spread throughout the country. There
were two main responses to the religion. One response was that Buddhismcould stand alongside
other Chinese religions and philosophies such as Confucianism, as it could do a lot of good for
China; while another view was that Buddhism had no place in China, as it came from foreign
people and was barbaric, stealing from the Chinese. One prominent response to Buddhism as it
spread was that it was a good religion that could stand alongside many original Chinese... Show

When he does die, he will leave the earth and his spirit shall be enlightened as he enters the
presence of Buddha (Doc. 2). During this time period, northern China is being invaded by
steppe nomads. Much of the people living within China are undoubtedly worried about this. So,
this document shows one way of how Buddhism was received, as a saving grace that could spare
people from the fear of the nomads. If they do believe and follow the ways of the Buddha, then
they will have salvation. The scholar likely wrote this as a way to help quell and fear in people s
hearts, whether it be his own, or those of strangers. The Buddha himself agrees with the notion
that Buddhism helps conquer fear, as can be seen in one of his sermons eight centuries earlier.
In the sermon, he lays out the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism. He proclaims in the sermon that
death is sorrow, that being separated from pleasures is sorrow, that sorrow arises from cravings
which we have, including the craving for power and the craving for a prolonged life. He goes on
to say that the only way to end this suffering, to be enlightened and reach nirvana is by ending
these sorrows (Doc. 1). Buddhism lays out a path to end sorrow, and in China,

The Effects Of Viral Encephalitis On The Disease
The disease I have chosen to explore is viral encephalitis. Encephalitis refers to brain inflammation
(PDR, 2014, Diagnosis), which is rare but can be extremely dangerous (Mayo, 2014, Basics;
University of Maryland, 2013, Introduction). Severe cases of encephalitis can lead to permanent
damage and death (Mayo, 2014, Complications). Encephalitiscan also be caused by bacteria and
fungi, or develop as a result of a non infectious cause, but encephalitis is usually caused by a virus
(Mayo, 2014, Causes; PDR, 2014, Basics).Symptoms of encephalitis usually begin between 2 and
14 days from the time of infection (University of Maryland, 2013, Symptoms), though it can be

Encephalitis infections typically last between 1 and 3 weeks (PDR, Treatment). However,
depending on severity of the infection and the virus that caused it, recovery can last months and
some level of impairment may be permanent, such as paralysis or exhaustion (Mayo, 2014,
Complications; PDR, 2014, Treatment). It is also possible for those who have had viral
encephalitis to experience seizures later in life, particularly those who had seizures during the
initial infection (Gondim, 2013, Prognosis). Certain types of viral encephalitis will cause death up
to 70 percent of the time, if not treated early (Gondim, 2013, Prognosis; PDR, 2014, Treatment).
Viral encephalitis can either be a primary infection, with the virus directly affecting the brain
(Mayo, 2014, Causes; PDR, 2014, Diagnosis), or a secondary infection, caused by the immune
system attacking the brain as well as the originally affected tissues (Mayo, 2014, Causes).
Secondary viral encephalitis usually takes place a couple of weeks after the original infection
(Mayo, 2014, Causes). The viruses that cause encephalitis can be spread in a number of ways,
depending on the particular virus. The most common ways are insect bites and person to person
contact (University of Maryland, 2013, Causes). In the case of insect bites, the insect originally got
the virus as a result of biting an infected animal, which then multiplied in the insect

The Role Of Gender Challenging Role Models The use of gender challenging role models in the classroom is a method I am going to use during my final professional practice and during my year as a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT). I am going to use these demonstrate to both girls and boys that the media depiction of success is not accurate and that success can be measured in various ways. Role models such as Marie Curie, Dian Fossey and Mary Anning are good historical figures to use but children could see these as dull despite their achievements. Although I do consider the use of these women as role models important, I feel that a role model who children can relate to and that they see in everyday life would be more successful in challenging genderstereotypes. To encourage girls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance for teachers to be positive role models is set out by the government in the Teachers Standards (Department for Education, 2011). I believe, as a male teacher, that there is an extra responsibility for me to model gender neutrality. I believe it is important for the boys in my classroom have both a positive masculine role model and a male figure in their life that is not afraid to embrace so called feminine aspects of life. I would like the boys in my classroom to understand that there are not boy jobs and girl jobs both in school and at home. I will model this by explaining my role at home; doing the dishes, hoovering, ironing and being a family man; activities that some may see as not very masculine. I will show that there is no such thing a girly colours by wearing a pink shirt from time to time. Most importantly I would like to challenge boys perception that education is feminine. Although research totally refutes the assumption that boys attainment improves when they are placed with a male teacher (Drudy, 2008; Francis et al, 2008; Read, 2010), There seems to be a particular kudos that some male teachers get from children. Whether this is due to their minority status in primary education (National Union of Teachers, 2016) or due to masculinity being given a superior social standing (Skelton, 2011a). Consequently, it important for male teachers to use this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the The Esoteric Interpretation of Pan s Labyrinth the writer points out that there is mystical and archetypal symbolism found throughout the movie. In the the esoteric interpitation of pan s labyrinth the writer does a great job of pointing out many of the architypes in the movie, but leaves out a few that I think are in the movie. The essay does a good job of creating a summary of the movie, and then they talk about different types of architypes in the movie. The first architype is when ofelia places the the missing eye back in t0 the monument of the faun. This shows that Ofilia has an ability to see or believe in fairy tales, and she notices that adults do not have the ability to see things that cannot be physically seen. The jail time for this charge differs from state to state, but also from county to county within those states. While researching this subject, I found sentences for Injury to a Child in Texas that ranged from two years up to thirty eight years. It is on that trip where the audience learns of the couple s, who are Francis and Margot Macomber, uneasy relationship. On that trip, they also meet a character by the name of Robert Wilson, who becomes their guide there. The story ends tragically with the death of Francis Macomber by being shot in the head by his wife Margot. Margot had always liked having control over Francis, so his sudden courage scares her. An analysis also states: Though Francis s mate value is greatly increased by his successful shooting of the buffalo, and evolutionary thinking would lead us to expect that this should benefit his wife, it is in Margot s case a threat, due primarily to his knowledge of her infidelity (Sugiyama). This could result in Margot s frustration and believing that the only thing left to do was to kill him. If she killed him, there was no way for him to divorce her, and she could have his belongings, including money, to herself. As said by Grant, the relationship between Macomber and Margot is based on their mutual weaknesses and could not have survived his maturity. • 10. Sub Saharan African Countries Have Experienced Macro... In recent years, sub Saharan African countries have experienced macro economic growth. The growth rate per annum averaged 5.2% over the past decade between 2000 and 2011 (Kulundu, 2013). The growth rate has outpaced Middle East, Latin America and Eastern Europe after being the slowest growing region for many years. In Tanzania, the growth rate averaged 6.8% from 2005 to 2011. It was ranked 1st in East Africa and 8th in sub Saharan Africa. In 2014 the GDP was expected to grow by 7.2% and continue growing at annual averaged rate of 7.7% in medium term (MOF, 2014). Ifzal et al (2007) observed that, economic growth does not guarantee all people to benefit equally, because growth itself is not sufficient for povertyreduction. If poor or marginalized people are left behind, it will result in increase of income inequality (Ifzal et al 2007). Vijayakumar et al (2012) showed the importance of economic growth by identifying its effect in the economy. It s observed that, if GDP growth decreases by 1%, it might trap 20 million more people into poverty. Therefore, it is evident that unstable growth will definitely have severe adverse impact on vulnerable groups of people in the society. Furthermore high and increasing levels of inequality may reduce the effect on poverty reduction resulting from a given rate of growth. Thus inequality has implications for social cohesion and political stability required for growth sustainability. This has been studied in several research works that have ... The history of violence, discrimination, supremacy, and disregard for the law has been morally accepted amongst our Society. Besides that, the seemingly higher number of men being killed by law enforcement could be attributed to poverty stricken communities, which have higher crime rates, racial bias, and sinful pride! Recent events have become so detrimental that black men try to avoid confrontations and committing crimes altogether in fear of losing their lives. Moreover, Black men today are not as submissive to law enforcement, and policies as their ancestors were in the past. Today s Black men are more aggressive toward law enforcement due to fear of the outcome of a simple search and procedures. This mentality happens because black men fear going to jail, getting shot, being misunderstood, or simple injustice. Increasingly, services are used or consumed in production and distribution of goods and vice versa. Separate taxation of goods and services often requires splitting of transaction values into value of goods and services for taxation, which leads to greater ccomplexities, administration and compliances costs. Integration of various taxes into a GST sysytem would make it possible to give full credit for input taxes collected. In Iranian jails, artists, musicians and filmmakers are held as prisoners on charges of insulting Islamic sanctities through their work. Coordinated by Amnesty International, the #FreeArtists social media campaign was recently launched to secure artists release. Considered the nail in the coffin for freedom of expression in Iran, the imprisonment of these artists was an attempt by Iranian authorities to silence what was considered sacrilegious rhetoric in their works. For most Americans, the ability to freely practice artistic expression is often taken for granted. For MuslimAmericans, the opportunity for freedom of expression is taken and used to further the aims of their community. As a community, Muslims in the United Statesface increasing challenges from anti Muslim rhetoric, divisive political speech and negative media portrayals. The arts are used by organizations like the Inner City Muslim Action Network (IMAN the Arabic word for faith) as a site of opportunity, engagement and representation. Specifically, music festivals are used by Muslim Americans to assert cultural identity, create and connect communities and establish a positive cultural presence in the United States. Technological Change Airbus claimed that its latest aircraft, A330neo had been upgraded and it would be as fuel efficient as Boeing s new 787 Dreamliner (Business Insider, 2014). This is an important advancement in technology because 33% of the operating costs of airlines was spent on fuel (Air Transport Action Group, 2014). An advance in aircraft technology that reduced fuel consumption reduced the total operating costs of the plane. The more fuel efficient an aircraft was, the bigger the distance travelled by that particular aircraft with a set amount of fuel. This allowed an airline to expand its network and consider routes that they were unable to consider before. However technology evolved quickly and if a better aircraft is launched soon after an airline has bought the previous version, the previous version would most probably become obsolete in a short period of time. In addition to that, there was a high possibility that the start up cost of buying new aircrafts could be a cost burden in the short term. Essay about Analysis of A Clockwork Orange Analysis and Interpretation of A Clockwork Orange A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess, is one of the most experimental, original, and controversial novels of the twentieth century. It is both a compelling work of literature and an in depth study in linguistics. The novel is a satirical, frightening science fiction piece, not unlike others of this century such as George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four or Aldous Huxley s Brave New World. However, the conflicts and resolutions in A ClockworkOrange are more philosophical than social, and its message is far more urgent. After the state reforms him, the novel s hero and narrator Alex becomes a clockwork orange, a man working as a machine. The struggle between the old and the young the conservative and the progressive is made more sensational by the separation of language. Alex is misunderstood by his parents, the police, and the government philosophically, but also literally, widening the gap between him and the sane world. (Senechal, Lefevre, Thomas , Daley, 1996; Sawyer, et al., 2014; SГ©nГ©chal LeFevre, 2002; Senechal LaFevre, 2014). HLE is defined by the frequency of storybook reading and literacy teaching during book reading(Sawyer, et al., 2014, p. 65). SГ©nГ©chal LeFevre (2002 2014) conducted a study to prove that a positive and helpful HLE aids in children s emergent literacy. The Home Literacy Model used proved the original hypothesis. There was a statistically significant predictor of parent s creating a positive HLE and frequency of shared book reading that positively correlated to the child s literacy abilities for the beginning of grade 1. Shared book reading comprises 4% of the significant differences with the child s vocabulary. The formal literacy measures presented by the parents like, actively listening to the child read and the method the parent uses to teach, was deemed most helpful as a predictor for the child s reading abilities by the end of grade 1. The study concluded that a positive HLE promoted growth within the child s vocabulary and word reading skills (SГ©nГ©chal LeFevre, 2002; Senechal LaFevre, 2014). The episodes usually last for ten seconds or greater and is usually accompanied with a decreased oxygen saturation. Although the airway is relaxed and obstructing airflow, the body (brain) is still attempting to breathe. When breathing has resumed from its apneic state, there is usually a loud gasping snore and or body jerking which can lead to restless sleep for the person with OSA and their partner. According the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute more than twelve million people in the United States have this clinical disorder. People who have OSA may be sleepy in the day and experience subsequent disorders such as oxyhemoglobin desaturation, pulmonary hypertension, right sided heart failure, arrhythmias, myocardial infarction and diabetes. Proper diagnosing and treatment of a person with OSA can yield optimal results thereby improving quality of life. • 35. The Issue Of Equal Pay For Equal Work The issue of equal pay for equal work performed by women; is a political hot button in the 2016 presidential campaign. So much so that the stump speeches, for both former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, and senator, Bernie Sanders, always include this issue. Since the 1960s, congress and many researchers have tested this theory. In order to affirm the validity of this message, we will perform a five step hypothesis test. In the book, Statistical Techniques in Business Economics, authors D. Lind, W. Marchal S. Wathen (2012), describe how to conduct this test of hypothesis. We seek to determine if two sampled populations, females and males, have the same mean (arithmetic average) wages. The process begins with only the raw data from a 2005 wages database. As a result, the authors further explain: The method described does not require that we know the standard deviations of the populations (2012). For that reason, we assume the sampled populations are equal, but, the standard deviations are unknown. Then, we use the t test as the test statistic, with 30 degrees of freedom. Problem Statement In an online article entitled The Simple Truth About the GenderPay Gap , published on the AAUW website, author Catherine Hill, PhD, had this to say: Did you know that in 2014, women working full time in the United States typically were paid just 79 percent of what men were paid, a gap of 21 percent? Bronze Coins Essay Archaeologists have discovered nine 1,400 year old bronze coins that may have been hidden by Christians trying to escape Persian invaders on a highway leading to Jerusalem in Israel. In June, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) conducted an archaeological dig ahead of a widening project for Highway 1 situated between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The scientists found a two story structure, a winepress, and nine bronze coins that ate back to the 7th century C.E., Haaretz details. Marching band is the sport in which musicians play while they march on a field to make shapes, but it s not as easy as it looks? They have to practice a lot, even during the summer; some practices are even 12 hours long. Even through all of this it is a great sport to take part in. This year was my first year in marching bandand it was hard! I had to go through a lot of different struggles. Before school even started this year I came to school Monday through Friday for two weeks to learn how to be in marching band. The first week we practiced from 8 to 6 and during the second week we practiced from 8 to 8. That is a 12 hour practice. At practices we would start with stretches then start our conditioning. That is where we would walk for one minute, jog for 45 seconds then sprint for 15 seconds: repeat. We did this for 10 minutes. After we conditioned we would have a water break. If you join marching band, you start to understand why people always say to stay hydrated because it can cause some serious problems. Usually during the water breaks Abby, Jema, Corbin and me would talk all kinds of stuff from Corbin s leg hair to bras and food. Sadly our water breaks aren t very long. • 39. Robert Frost Ambiguity The Ambiguity on Robert Frost s The road not chosen The road not chosen is a beautiful poem written by Robert Frost, which raises the metaphor of life as a journey in which alternatives force us to choose which path to follow. When we come to a fork, a crucial point of the journey, we must make a decision. We know that the future will depend on that choice. We can choose the most traveled road, the one that most people would choose (by habit or comfort) and therefore , will be easier since the path is marked, or venture down the road less traveled and build our own path, make our way before the difficulties, face obstacles and unforeseen events. The poet walks in the forest, has the option to choose between two roads that fork in a path of a yellow forest. The poet chooses the least traveled, but thinks about the possibilities that would have implied having taken the other path, the unelected one. He is aware of the difference, that this choice and this non choice will be perpetuated in the causal chain of his life. There was a large migration of Chicano immigrants to the Los Angelesarea that resulted in several changes directly related to the larger and present Chicano presence. The most notable being the prominent presence of Chicano specific gangs. This is likely due to the fact that many people of Chicano descent are immigrants who came to America with little to nothing. This resulted in large groups of Chicanos being located in some of the poorest areas. Spiritual Warfare Ephesians 6:12 says, For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. In the book The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, Uncle Screwtape sends a collection of letters to Wormwood, always signing your affectionate Uncle Screwtape. Screwtape, the older demon, counsels Wormwood on how to tempt the patient , a human. Through the course of the letters his Patient becomes a Christian. When his patient die, the human ascends to heaven and Wormwood descends to Hell. We can all agree these demons were manipulative and harmful, but we disagree whether they are pitiable.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the letters Screwtape gives Wormwood (or Lewis gives us) many examples of lies from the demons. Although there are several lies, there are four deceptions, which I thought are most interesting. The first is having pride in humility. When the patient is humble Wormwood is to point out his humility, therefore reversing his obedience into pride. The second exposed deception is a distraction from the truth. When studying authors or philosophers the patient Wormwood encourages him to ask about the authors background, why he wrote it, or how he came to his conclusion. All these questions are good, but Wormwood purposefully uses these questions to distract his human from questioning the truth. I believe Lewis believes this question is important because it is important to evaluate a belief as good or bad on the basis of truth. The third lie is praying for someone else s sin. In the book, Wormwood s assignment is to encourage his patient to pray for his mother s faults, so that the patient focuses on her faults. Lastly, the fourth lie the patient believes is in his misdirected anger. Screwtape encourages Wormwood to direct the Patient s hatred of their enemy in war to his neighbors, and his good intentions toward strangers, that way his virtues are closer to fantasy than reality. In result, the patient was kind to strangers and hateful to family and close friends. Lewis brilliantly exposes these lies in an intriguing and thought provoking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
