Frankenstein And Frankenstein Essay
Several fields have studied the relationship between creator and creation. The most significant aspect
of this research considers the difference between nature and nurture. Sociologists, psychologists,
scientists, and other professionals have tried to pin down the exact distinctions between these two
types of upbringings. In literature, the same questions have been asked and studied using fictional
characters, most famously in John Milton s Paradise Lost, in 1667, and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein,
in 1818. The complexity of the characters in these texts creates the theme of nature versus nurture
before they diverge and arrive at differing conclusions.
Many critics arose over the years to contest the main character of Milton s epic. Shelley, ... Show more

Due to his mistakes in creating his character of God, Shelley personified Victor Frankenstein as a cold
creator to provide a commentary on the harshness of Milton s God.
Some have called Milton s God evil and unloving such as Richard Bentley (Read). This criticism can
be attributed to the fact that Milton was cautious about creating a so called round character of God;
this caution caused this flat creator that has no real stake in creation. When the first words that God
speaks in Paradise Lost mock the fallen angels: Only begotten Son, seest thou what rage/ Transports
our adversary (Milton III . 80 ) it only confirms the fate that this character cannot be the hero of the
story. By doing this Milton created this malicious creator which inspired the cruelty that can clearly be
seen in Victor Frankenstein in terms of both his family and his creation. The use of cruelty in creators,
whether intentional or not determines the environment in which their creation lives.
Shelley draws inspiration from Milton s Paradise Lost not only for the vicious creator in the stories but
also the creations. In Milton s epic, God creates the father of humankind and the father of all demons.
The characterization of Frankenstein s monster highlights points of both Adam and Satan; even the
monster recognizes this within Shelley s work when he encounters Milton s

Texas Teacher Evaluation And Support System
T TESS
Since 1997, the primary tool for teacher evaluation was the Professional Development and Appraisal
System better known as PDAS. Due to significant efforts to enhance both teacher effectiveness and
student learning and growth, the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T TESS) was
elaborated (TEA, 2016, p. 3). The T TESS was designed by educators to support continuous
improvement by focusing on feedback and support, moving the mindset away from compliance (TEA,
2016, p. 3).
T TESS consist of three components, goal setting and professional development plan, the evaluation
cycle (including: pre conference, observation, post conference, and student growth measure (T TESS,
n.d.). The goal setting and professional development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, continual feedback allows teachers to self reflect on best practices. For example, a teacher
can target his/her areas of weakness in order to grow professionally and gain further insight of best
practices. Another benefit, of teacher evaluations is higher student success rates. These, for example,
are measurable through district assessments and state standardized assessments. If a teachers success
rate has significantly improved through modification of practices, T TESS has served its intended
purpose. Finally, yet another benefit of teacher evaluations is the fact that the educator is an active
participant in his/her evaluation process. For example, through goal setting, the educator is allowed
the opportunity to decide where he/she want to grow. Through the evaluation cycle and the
communication therein, the appraiser and educator both take greater responsibility in understanding
and meeting established goals. Finally, at the end of the process, student growth is an indicator of a
well developed and integrated evaluation system. These are but a few of the many benefits reaped
from an evaluation systems such as T TESS (TEA,

Questions will be out of order. How does measurements of SI help with business and commerce?
Companies need the exact amount and ingredients of what to put in their product. Such as a can of
soda. A can of soda normally contains 12 fluid ounces. 12 fluid ounces is approximately 354 grams.
These companies are using some sort of measurement system. We use something called imperial
system where as most countries use metric system. Governments don t want confusion to be amongst
them, so they only adopt on system of measurement. Why do scientists only prefer one system of
measurement? I think this is simply due to them not wanting to convert all their units into a whole
other dimension. Besides the fact that people are lazy. One interesting feature

Similarities Between Lennie And Crooks In Of Mice And Men
Mariana Castillo Pd. 4 English 27/11/14 Sinise s Alterations to Of Mice and Men Of Mice and Men by
Steinbeck is a classic novel later redone into a classic film by Sinise. Both Steinbeck and Sinise
express the same story but because Sinise created a film there will be changes regardless because the
film is able to include music, motion and visual while Steinbeck s novel is only able to include
description and leave the rest to your imagination. Gary Sinise alters some scenes from Steinbeck s
novel, Of Mice and Men, to evoke more sympathy for Curley s wife and to change the theme from
loneliness to George and Lennie s friendship. Steinbeck portrays Curley s wife in a different way in
the novel than Sinise portrays her in the film. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lennie s hallucinations take place after he kills Curley s wife and runs to his hiding spot. Sinise
excludes this entire scene which does impact the overall message of the story. The absence of this
scene contributes to the fact that the theme in the film is different to the theme in the novel. The theme
of the novel is loneliness and the theme of the film is friendship. Having Lennie hallucinate in the film
would take away from its theme because people tend to hallucinate when they are lonely and the film
tries to empathize George and Lennie s

Natural Language Processing ( Nlp )
CHAPTER1: INTRODUCTION
Natural Language Processing (NLP) deals with actual text element processing. The text element is
transformed into machine format by NLP. Artificial Intelligence (AI) uses information provided by the
NLP and applies a lot of maths to determine whether something is positive or negative. Several
methods exist to determine an author s view on a topic from natural language textual information.
Some form of machine learning approach is employed and which has varying degree of effectiveness.
One of the types of natural language processing is opinion mining which deals with tracking the mood
of the people regarding a particular product or topic. This software provides automatic extraction of
opinions, emotions and sentiments in text and also tracks attitudes and feelings on the web. People
express their views by writing blog posts, comments, reviews and tweets about all sorts of different
topics. Tracking products and brands and then determining whether they are viewed positively or
negatively can be done using web. The opinion mining has slightly different tasks and many names,
e.g. sentiment analysis, opinion extraction, sentiment mining, subjectivity analysis, affect analysis,
emotion analysis, review mining, etc.
However, they all come under the umbrella of sentiment analysis or opinion mining. Sentiment
classification, feature based sentiment classification and opinion summarization are few main fields of
research predominate in sentiment analysis.

Critical Pedagogy And The Reggio Emilia
Critical pedagogy and The Reggio Emilia approach on play based learning should be merged into
early childhood education as obtaining the skills to critically analyze and problem solve has the
potential to change society and thus the potential to change the world.
It is important individuals become aware of what critical pedagogy is. Critical pedagogy stems from
the idea that there is an unequal social structure in our society which is based upon class, race and
gender. It has been formulated and influenced by many psychologists and philosophers including John
Dewey and Paulo Freire. Critical pedagogy is an attempt at freedom from oppression through
democratic critical thinking. In critical pedagogy the knowledge learned within the classroom should
correlate with and not be separated from any social structure, culture, politics, economics or any
ideology taking place with society. The idea is, that in order to orchestrate change, individuals must
become aware of the social, cultural, ideological, and or economic influence exerted upon society.
Once the individual becomes aware of the hegemony taking place they can then analyze their situation
and implement change for the greater good.
John Dewey born October 20th, 1859 was an American psychologist and philosopher. He was known
well for his avocation in democracy and his theories on progressive education which correlate and
transition into critical pedagogy. His theories focused on the argument that learning and education are

Visit To Hawaii
There is always one place someone wants to go visit from hearing about it from a friend or seeing
pictures online. The place I want to visit over any place in the entire world is Hawaii because of all the
tropical foods, sunny beaches and so many activities to do. Such as, hiking to a waterfall and jumping
in or going on a tour around the island in a helicopter.
One reason I want to visit Hawaii is because the beaches look amazing, and the beaches have so many
things to do. If I went I would go to the beaches on the bay first, to practice surfing and play games on
the beach. I would play wiffle ball, ultimate Frisbee and pass a football around, or lacrosse ball. Wiffle
ball is a lot of fun because I hit the ball to the ground a lot, so I dive to get the base. Ultimate frisbee is
hard to play on the beach because of the wind, so I dive to catch almost every throw. After a couple of
days I d switch to the ocean side of Hawaii to go body boarding, boogie boarding, and surfing. Boogie
boarding is more fun with bigger waves because I get to ride the wave for a longer time.
Bodyboarding is tough for me to catch a wave, but is amazing once I finally catch one. Surfing is a
little tricky to stand up and is much easier for me to stay up once I get the hang of it. ... Show more

Access Of Contraception And Abortion Within The Latina...
Access to contraceptives and abortion within the Latina community in Los Angeles, California has
been influenced culturally, socially, and economically. Cultural beliefs, economic disparities, social
environment, and language barriers have all prevented Latina s access to proper pregnancy
termination services, which is causing in the detrition of Latina s sexual and reproductive care.
Ultimately in order to promote better reproductive/sexual health and provide better access to
contraceptives and abortion within the Latina community in Los Angeles, policy makers should
promote safe sex practices within families, communities, and schools and also should educate Latinas
of all options they have. In addition to education, sexual and reproductive health services such as
contraceptives and abortion should be able to be accessible to Latinas, in order to reduce the amount
of Latinas going through traumatic experiences that are indeed preventative.

Comparison Of Jules Ferry And Georges Clemenceau
Jules Ferry and Georges Clemenceau were two of the greatest proponents of the Third Republic in
France. They had been active even before the fall of the Second Empire, with Ferry writing articles
against the Empire in Le Temps (Encyclopædia Britannica, 1998) and Clemenceau founding several
Republican journals, and even being present at Léon Gambetta s proclamation of the Third Republic
in 1870 (Monnerville, 2016).Whilst it is clear that the two men were both staunch supporters of a
republic in the sense of government delegated to a small number of citizens elected by the rest
(Madison, 1787) their views on many aspects of the state as a republic frequently clashed. This essay

Clemenceau is more tied to the theory of the ideal republic as espoused by J.S. Mill, which states that
in a representative democracy people exercise through deputies periodically elected by themselves
ultimate controlling power (1951 cited Myo 2009). In this view, the politician is bound to the wishes
of his electorate. Whilst entrusted to make decisions on their behalf, they do so as a representative and
not as an autocratic ruler. Ferry on the other hand is closer to the theory of Niccolo Machiavelli. This
purports that the politician must act not as an extension of the electorate, but as their leader, protecting
them from the corruptions they see in society (1987[1532] cited Myo 2009). Ferry is more akin to a
Machiavellian republican leader in his paternalism and his feeling that he has been elected to mold the
French nation into his republican vision as opposed to simply representing

A Brief Note On British Literature And Composition
Akshat Piprottar British Literature and Composition Mr. McRae Essay #1 Doublethink in 1984
Hungry for absolute dominance over their people, the totalitarian government known as the Party
implements various tools, whether physical or ideological, into the common man. One of these tools is
the idea of doublethink, where, holding both the absolute truth and the truth implanted by the Party in
their minds, any given person can believe two contradicting ideas at once. George Orwell, the author
of 1984, successfully shows the reader how doublethink cannot be practiced. In one of the plentiful
scenes where O Brien tortures Winston, Winston fails to doublethink properly. Between the electric
shocks, O Brien, holding up four fingers, asks Winston to count how many fingers. Trying to instill the
value of doublethink in Winston, O Brien actually further demonstrates how flawed doublethink is.
Winston suppose[s] there are four (288), trying to see five if I [Winston] could . Winston says he really
wants to see them [the five fingers] , yet he still fails. After an electric shock, Winston experiences a
vision of a forest of fingers... moving in a sort of dance . Orwell uses a metaphor for Winston s state of
thought; his hazy vision is really just uncertainty in his mind. Trying desperately to see five fingers,
Winston still can only either see four fingers or a hazy in between. There is no way for him to see both
four and five fingers at the same time. Orwell uses this very literal

Optimism And Relationships
Optimism s relationship with well being and satisfaction with life has been well studied, even before
positive psychology was seen as a major topic in psychology. Optimism is positively correlated with
life satisfaction (Szczesniak Soares, 2011). A students degree of optimism is a predictor of satisfaction
with life and distress in college (Brissette, Scheier, Carver, 2002; Yalcin, 2011). Newlyweds who were
higher in optimism solved problems more constructively, had lower decline in marital well being in
the first year of marriage, and were better able to handle relationship trouble (Andersson, 2012a; Neff

There are differences and problems that still need to be clarified. For the sake of this article, optimism
and pessimism are shown as one dimension, with someone low in optimism being high in pessimism.
However, there are contradictory ideas about whether optimism and pessimism are unidimensional or
two dimensions. There is evidence to support the theory that they are unidimensional with low
optimism being the same as high pessimism and vise versa (Rauch, Schweizer, Moosebougger, 2007).
However, there is evidence to support the theory that they are two separate dimensions and people can
be high or low in both optimism and pessimism (Herzberg, Glaesmer, Hoyer, 2006). Additionally,
optimism studies are largely done on European Americans so there is no clarification on the
universality of the results. People from eastern cultures experience more positive emotions when they
are experiencing negative emotions so they might be more optimistic than western

Ancient Kingship and Rulers Essay
Kings and rulers started to emerge as soon as people moved away from living in tribes. This was the
case with the Jews when they have decided to unite under one ruler. However, long before them the
first empire was established in Mesopotamia by Sargon of Akkad in 2334 BCE (Kelly, 2011). The
essay will compare kingship in three geographically and chronologically different societies. They are
the following: Babylonians during Hammurabi s reign (1792 1750 BCE), Neo Assyrians (934 610
BCE), and the Jews (1000 BCE). In order to avoid historical distortions, primary sources from those
time periods will be used. These three communities have influenced each other in different fields.
Therefore, we can see similarities in their ruling systems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Advice to a Prince, gods only could judge and punish the ruler, for example, if he

Consequently, we can assume that ruler s power have increased enormously, since no matter what he
does (even despotism) is supposed to be controlled by gods. Finally, the kingship in Israel has some
differences as Jews are monotheistic. Nonetheless, the Jews believed in god s involvement in daily life
as well. More importantly, god (Yahweh) was believed to decide who the king is and whether he must
be changed (Sanders, p.72). This shows some parallels with Assyrians where gods only could judge
the ruler. As a result, it is seen that regardless of regions and number of gods (monotheism or
polytheism) rulers in ancient times were connected with divine power. In fact, at ancient times rulers
often represented the choice of god(s), whereas presently they represent the choice of people. This, I
think, led to more fearful and respectful attitude towards rulers due to their divine support. In addition
to the connection with the divine power, rulers in ancient world had one very distinct feature. Almost
always rulers were men, with very few exceptions. Thus it is clearly seen that people at that time lived
in patriarchal society. Moreover, rulers promoted patriarchy implicitly or sometimes even explicitly
through their rules. For example, according to

Rhetorical Analysis Of Black Lungs
Black Lungs
The media is one of the main influencers in our lives, although some of us may not like to admit it. We
rely on it to test products, provide reviews, and shape our views, among other things. With this being
the case, advertisers have found different ways to entice different audiences and provoke emotional
responses with imagery, sound, and audio cues. This essay about a media advertisement will bring you
through these aspects and explain them more in depth pertaining to my individual piece. My
advertisement was one meant to inform the audience on harmful practices that are causing the
destruction of our forests, and along with it our air. This advertisement is about deforestation and our
air quality.
Our continuous chopping of forests and trees has not only affected us and the forest, but animals and
tribes of people as well. So many living things depend on the forests to survive and without that we
may lose them. Chopping down trees increases the amount of carbon dioxide released into the
atmosphere thus making our air quality worsen. The picture ad really impacts the reader by showing
the picture of a bare forest that symbolizes our lungs, creating a double meaning and more depth. This
issue is very important to our health and the world s. The Help us save the air we breathe
advertisement uses imagery to intensify their points about deforestation and puts this issue into
perspective, causing action to be taken.

Comparison Of Apology And Phaedo By Plato
Philosophy, according to Oxford Dictionary, is the study of the general and fundamental nature of
reality and language. Therefore, philosophy is an understanding of ourselves and the world around us,
it is the knowledge one is willing to attain simply for the sake of knowing and being aware.
Literally meaning love of wisdom , philosophy is very significant in our lives as it encourages one to
better understand themselves through questioning and look past what one has been told in order to
attain greater knowledge. This further leads one to be humble, honest and think critically. Overall,
philosophy enables one to grow and develop as a person. This is conveyed to us by Plato s Apology
and Phaedo where we are told the importance of philosophy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Studying the works of Plato and the views of Socrates has made me aware of a higher purpose which
may exist as the soul may truly be immortal. This has allowed me to expand my view and look into
possibilities which cause me to question myself and be confident in my reasoning which in turn allows
me to effectively communicate my thoughts as I feel confident In the conclusion I reach by reasoning.
Thus, philosophy is significant for us today as it allows one to not only think, but effectively
communicate with others. We see Socrates himself having a great amount of control over his
communication, he easily conveys his views by use of simple language simply due to philosophy and
the belief he has in his understanding. It is his confidence which guides him in both dialogues: Phaedo

Theme Of Young Goodman Brown And The Cask Of Amontillado
The gothic genre is typically very dark and mysterious, and one of the ways that Nathaniel Hawthorne
and Edgar Allan Poe compliment and counteract this goal in their works Young Goodman Brown and
The Cask of Amontillado , respectively, is with irony. Their masterful use of irony engages the reader
in the work and invites them to consider the story and the characters intentions. The irony presented in
Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne and The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe
allows us to understand the emotions of the characters and the mood of the work, however, Poe
utilizes irony to convey humor, while Hawthorne uses it to convey fear. The Cask of Amontillado by
Edgar Allan Poe is about the thirst for vengeance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nathaniel Hawthorne uses irony to a different effect in his short story, Young Goodman Brown .
Young Goodman Brown is about a man who, unbeknownst to his wife, goes on a journey into the
forest with questionable motives. While we do know how Cask of Amontillado will end, we do not
know exactly where our protagonist is going in Hawthorne s work. The author s use of irony gradually
provides us clues about Goodman Brown s destination. Our protagonist s name itself is ironic, given
that he is making more haste on his present evil purpose, (Hawthorne 4). This is verbal irony because
a good man will not be seeking out a wicked deed. Goodman Brown constantly feels guilty and
considers his religion as he walks towards his goal. As he reminisces about his religious education, he
recognizes the minister and deacon, jogging along quietly, as they were wont to do, when bound to
some ordination or ecclesiastical council, (Hawthorne 8). The author does not revealed to us where
exactly Goodman Brown is going, but the juxtaposition of the church with this journey is situational
irony. On any other day, seeing the minister and Deacon Gookin jog along will let an observer know
that they would be headed to church. After Hawthorne reveals to us that the protagonist is heading to a
satanic ritual, the author describes to us the setting. The aspect that unnerves Goodman Brown the
most is a figure that bore no slight similitude, both

Examine the Claim That Britishness Is Defined by Shared...
Evaluate the claim that British identity is defined by shared values.
National identities are only one among the many identities that people can hold , (Clarke, 2009,
p.212). How people perceive themselves and are perceived by others as British poses the question as
to what Britishness is and who counts as British? To evaluate the role, shared values play in defining
the British Identity it is necessary to examine how it is formed through place, culture, ethnicity,
diversity and imagined community, without judgements being made as to who should and should not
be included.
Individuals if asked to describe themselves will do so in many different ways, but will give reference
to family, peer groups, ethnic groups, gender and class, all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The values referred to earlier by Blunkett and Phillips are being used to describe Britain by the means
of shared values. Blunkett also suggests that Britain s institutions such as the NHS and the BBC stand
for these values. They both use language such as inclusive or open to suggest that British identity is
open to all citizens , (Clarke, 2009, p.221). That British is as British does. It is about what people do,
not who they are , (Phillips cited in Clarke, 2009, p.223). Statements such as these, relating to national
identities are often intended to persuade people to think or act in a certain way , (Clarke, 2009, p.214).
Parekh supports the view that Britain has become a multi ethnic and multicultural society and must
develop a more multiple and complex national identity , (cited in Clarke, 2009, p.225). In opposition
to this is the view that diversity may have gone too far , undermining national identity and the forms
of social solidarity that keeps us together , (Clarke, 2009, p.225). Goodhart writes about two forms of
diversity, value and ethnic . He describes how Britain has changed over the last sixty years from one
where it was possible to predict the attitudes, even behaviour of the people living in your immediate
neighbourhood to one with greater diversity in lifestyles and values , (Goodhart cited in Clarke, 2009,
p.225). The increase in

Social Security s Impact On The National Economy
Stephen Goss, the Chief Actuary of the Social Security Administration once said, The concepts of
solvency, sustainability, and budget impact are common in discussions of Social Security, but are not
well understood. Social Security is an important federal program that provides a stable source of
income to individuals who no longer have a constant salary due to retirement, disability, or death. This
program, not only keeps millions of families out of poverty, but it also plays a vital role in the national
economy. According to the research report, Social Security s Impact on the National Economy , by
Gary Koenig and Al Myles, Social Security supports millions of jobs. The importance of this program
is clearly evident in both the national economy and in the economic stability of each individual state.
However, the future of the Social Security program does not look very stable and the right decisions
need to be made in order to ensure the solidity of the nations economy.
Social Security, referred to as Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI), is paid on a
scheduled basis to workers who pay taxes and are either retired, disabled, or have passed away. The
significant role that this program plays in the U.S economy is clearly evident when the beneficiaries
spend their money on different goods and services. According to the Social Security Administration
(SSA) about 63.2 million people received benefits in 2013 and 65% of these aged beneficiaries
received half of

My Love In A Short Story
Greta always fun such joy in spending time with the Prince that she had become so fond of over the
time. He was so kind and was much more than a girl like he would ever deserve. She always thought
very highly of the Prince, but there were many hardships along with the wonderful memories that they
had together. The Prince and Greta created so many little memories together over the years that they
had together. Greta had grown to be so in love with this man that it was only thing that was on her
mind most of the time. They loved to sing together, even if they were both a little off key most of the
time (all of the time). Greta felt so carefree and happy around him. They would go and play in little
play grounds that the villages had whenever they could find one. Greta especially loved when they
would be cuddling watching a play in the Prince s castle, and he would write cute love letters on her
back. He would rub her back to make her as comfortable as possible. The magnificent Prince would
hold her tight against his chest to assure her that he would always be there to love her. Greta always
felt her worries melt away when the Prince was with her. One of Greta s favorites was when the Prince
would lean down and gently kiss her on the forehead. It reminded her of the gentleness that she had
first fallen in love with, and assured her that it wasn t going anywhere. The love that they had was
endless and wonderful. The Prince would take Greta by the hand, and dance with her in

  • 2. Frankenstein And Frankenstein Essay Several fields have studied the relationship between creator and creation. The most significant aspect of this research considers the difference between nature and nurture. Sociologists, psychologists, scientists, and other professionals have tried to pin down the exact distinctions between these two types of upbringings. In literature, the same questions have been asked and studied using fictional characters, most famously in John Milton s Paradise Lost, in 1667, and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, in 1818. The complexity of the characters in these texts creates the theme of nature versus nurture before they diverge and arrive at differing conclusions. Many critics arose over the years to contest the main character of Milton s epic. Shelley, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to his mistakes in creating his character of God, Shelley personified Victor Frankenstein as a cold creator to provide a commentary on the harshness of Milton s God. Some have called Milton s God evil and unloving such as Richard Bentley (Read). This criticism can be attributed to the fact that Milton was cautious about creating a so called round character of God; this caution caused this flat creator that has no real stake in creation. When the first words that God speaks in Paradise Lost mock the fallen angels: Only begotten Son, seest thou what rage/ Transports our adversary (Milton III . 80 ) it only confirms the fate that this character cannot be the hero of the story. By doing this Milton created this malicious creator which inspired the cruelty that can clearly be seen in Victor Frankenstein in terms of both his family and his creation. The use of cruelty in creators, whether intentional or not determines the environment in which their creation lives. Shelley draws inspiration from Milton s Paradise Lost not only for the vicious creator in the stories but also the creations. In Milton s epic, God creates the father of humankind and the father of all demons. The characterization of Frankenstein s monster highlights points of both Adam and Satan; even the monster recognizes this within Shelley s work when he encounters Milton s ... Due to significant efforts to enhance both teacher effectiveness and student learning and growth, the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T TESS) was elaborated (TEA, 2016, p. 3). The T TESS was designed by educators to support continuous improvement by focusing on feedback and support, moving the mindset away from compliance (TEA, 2016, p. 3). For example, a teacher can target his/her areas of weakness in order to grow professionally and gain further insight of best practices. Another benefit, of teacher evaluations is higher student success rates. These, for example, are measurable through district assessments and state standardized assessments. If a teachers success rate has significantly improved through modification of practices, T TESS has served its intended purpose. Finally, yet another benefit of teacher evaluations is the fact that the educator is an active participant in his/her evaluation process. For example, through goal setting, the educator is allowed the opportunity to decide where he/she want to grow. Through the evaluation cycle and the communication therein, the appraiser and educator both take greater responsibility in understanding and meeting established goals. Finally, at the end of the process, student growth is an indicator of a well developed and integrated evaluation system. These companies are using some sort of measurement system. We use something called imperial system where as most countries use metric system. Governments don t want confusion to be amongst them, so they only adopt on system of measurement. Why do scientists only prefer one system of measurement? Similarities Between Lennie And Crooks In Of Mice And Men Mariana Castillo Pd. 4 English 27/11/14 Sinise s Alterations to Of Mice and Men Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck is a classic novel later redone into a classic film by Sinise. Both Steinbeck and Sinise express the same story but because Sinise created a film there will be changes regardless because the film is able to include music, motion and visual while Steinbeck s novel is only able to include description and leave the rest to your imagination. Gary Sinise alters some scenes from Steinbeck s novel, Of Mice and Men, to evoke more sympathy for Curley s wife and to change the theme from loneliness to George and Lennie s friendship. The text element is transformed into machine format by NLP. Artificial Intelligence (AI) uses information provided by the NLP and applies a lot of maths to determine whether something is positive or negative. Several methods exist to determine an author s view on a topic from natural language textual information. Some form of machine learning approach is employed and which has varying degree of effectiveness. One of the types of natural language processing is opinion mining which deals with tracking the mood of the people regarding a particular product or topic. This software provides automatic extraction of opinions, emotions and sentiments in text and also tracks attitudes and feelings on the web. People express their views by writing blog posts, comments, reviews and tweets about all sorts of different topics. Critical Pedagogy And The Reggio Emilia Critical pedagogy and The Reggio Emilia approach on play based learning should be merged into early childhood education as obtaining the skills to critically analyze and problem solve has the potential to change society and thus the potential to change the world. It is important individuals become aware of what critical pedagogy is. Critical pedagogy stems from the idea that there is an unequal social structure in our society which is based upon class, race and gender. It has been formulated and influenced by many psychologists and philosophers including John Dewey and Paulo Freire. Critical pedagogy is an attempt at freedom from oppression through democratic critical thinking. In critical pedagogy the knowledge learned within the classroom should correlate with and not be separated from any social structure, culture, politics, economics or any ideology taking place with society. The idea is, that in order to orchestrate change, individuals must become aware of the social, cultural, ideological, and or economic influence exerted upon society. Once the individual becomes aware of the hegemony taking place they can then analyze their situation and implement change for the greater good. The place I want to visit over any place in the entire world is Hawaii because of all the tropical foods, sunny beaches and so many activities to do. Such as, hiking to a waterfall and jumping in or going on a tour around the island in a helicopter. One reason I want to visit Hawaii is because the beaches look amazing, and the beaches have so many things to do. If I went I would go to the beaches on the bay first, to practice surfing and play games on the beach. I would play wiffle ball, ultimate Frisbee and pass a football around, or lacrosse ball. A Brief Note On British Literature And Composition Akshat Piprottar British Literature and Composition Mr. McRae Essay #1 Doublethink in 1984 Hungry for absolute dominance over their people, the totalitarian government known as the Party implements various tools, whether physical or ideological, into the common man. One of these tools is the idea of doublethink, where, holding both the absolute truth and the truth implanted by the Party in their minds, any given person can believe two contradicting ideas at once. George Orwell, the author of 1984, successfully shows the reader how doublethink cannot be practiced. In one of the plentiful scenes where O Brien tortures Winston, Winston fails to doublethink properly. Between the electric shocks, O Brien, holding up four fingers, asks Winston to count how many fingers. Trying to instill the value of doublethink in Winston, O Brien actually further demonstrates how flawed doublethink is. Winston suppose[s] there are four (288), trying to see five if I [Winston] could . Winston says he really wants to see them [the five fingers] , yet he still fails. After an electric shock, Winston experiences a vision of a forest of fingers... moving in a sort of dance . Orwell uses a metaphor for Winston s state of thought; his hazy vision is really just uncertainty in his mind. According to the Advice to a Prince, gods only could judge and punish the ruler, for example, if he (ruler) takes silver... Marduk, lord of Heaven and Earth, will set his foes upon him... (Sanders, p.70). Consequently, we can assume that ruler s power have increased enormously, since no matter what he does (even despotism) is supposed to be controlled by gods. Finally, the kingship in Israel has some differences as Jews are monotheistic. Nonetheless, the Jews believed in god s involvement in daily life as well. More importantly, god (Yahweh) was believed to decide who the king is and whether he must be changed (Sanders, p.72). This shows some parallels with Assyrians where gods only could judge the ruler. As a result, it is seen that regardless of regions and number of gods (monotheism or polytheism) rulers in ancient times were connected with divine power. In fact, at ancient times rulers often represented the choice of god(s), whereas presently they represent the choice of people. This, I think, led to more fearful and respectful attitude towards rulers due to their divine support. In addition to the connection with the divine power, rulers in ancient world had one very distinct feature. Almost always rulers were men, with very few exceptions. Thus it is clearly seen that people at that time lived in patriarchal society. Moreover, rulers promoted patriarchy implicitly or sometimes even explicitly through their rules. We rely on it to test products, provide reviews, and shape our views, among other things. With this being the case, advertisers have found different ways to entice different audiences and provoke emotional responses with imagery, sound, and audio cues. This essay about a media advertisement will bring you through these aspects and explain them more in depth pertaining to my individual piece. My advertisement was one meant to inform the audience on harmful practices that are causing the destruction of our forests, and along with it our air. This advertisement is about deforestation and our air quality. Our continuous chopping of forests and trees has not only affected us and the forest, but animals and tribes of people as well. So many living things depend on the forests to survive and without that we may lose them. Chopping down trees increases the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere thus making our air quality worsen. The picture ad really impacts the reader by showing the picture of a bare forest that symbolizes our lungs, creating a double meaning and more depth. This issue is very important to our health and the world s. • 26. Theme Of Young Goodman Brown And The Cask Of Amontillado The gothic genre is typically very dark and mysterious, and one of the ways that Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Allan Poe compliment and counteract this goal in their works Young Goodman Brown and The Cask of Amontillado , respectively, is with irony. Their masterful use of irony engages the reader in the work and invites them to consider the story and the characters intentions. The irony presented in Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne and The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe allows us to understand the emotions of the characters and the mood of the work, however, Poe utilizes irony to convey humor, while Hawthorne uses it to convey fear. The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe is about the thirst for vengeance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nathaniel Hawthorne uses irony to a different effect in his short story, Young Goodman Brown . Young Goodman Brown is about a man who, unbeknownst to his wife, goes on a journey into the forest with questionable motives. While we do know how Cask of Amontillado will end, we do not know exactly where our protagonist is going in Hawthorne s work. The author s use of irony gradually provides us clues about Goodman Brown s destination. Our protagonist s name itself is ironic, given that he is making more haste on his present evil purpose, (Hawthorne 4). This is verbal irony because a good man will not be seeking out a wicked deed. Goodman Brown constantly feels guilty and considers his religion as he walks towards his goal. As he reminisces about his religious education, he recognizes the minister and deacon, jogging along quietly, as they were wont to do, when bound to some ordination or ecclesiastical council, (Hawthorne 8). The author does not revealed to us where exactly Goodman Brown is going, but the juxtaposition of the church with this journey is situational irony. On any other day, seeing the minister and Deacon Gookin jog along will let an observer know that they would be headed to church. After Hawthorne reveals to us that the protagonist is heading to a satanic ritual, the author describes to us the setting. The aspect that unnerves Goodman Brown the most is a figure that bore no slight similitude, both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

National identities are only one among the many identities that people can hold , (Clarke, 2009, p.212). How people perceive themselves and are perceived by others as British poses the question as to what Britishness is and who counts as British? To evaluate the role, shared values play in defining the British Identity it is necessary to examine how it is formed through place, culture, ethnicity, diversity and imagined community, without judgements being made as to who should and should not be included. It is about what people do, not who they are , (Phillips cited in Clarke, 2009, p.223). Statements such as these, relating to national identities are often intended to persuade people to think or act in a certain way , (Clarke, 2009, p.214). Parekh supports the view that Britain has become a multi ethnic and multicultural society and must develop a more multiple and complex national identity , (cited in Clarke, 2009, p.225). In opposition to this is the view that diversity may have gone too far , undermining national identity and the forms of social solidarity that keeps us together , (Clarke, 2009, p.225). Goodhart writes about two forms of diversity, value and ethnic . He describes how Britain has changed over the last sixty years from one where it was possible to predict the attitudes, even behaviour of the people living in your immediate neighbourhood to one with greater diversity in lifestyles and values , (Goodhart cited in Clarke, 2009, p.225). Social Security s Impact On The National Economy Stephen Goss, the Chief Actuary of the Social Security Administration once said, The concepts of solvency, sustainability, and budget impact are common in discussions of Social Security, but are not well understood. Social Security is an important federal program that provides a stable source of income to individuals who no longer have a constant salary due to retirement, disability, or death. This program, not only keeps millions of families out of poverty, but it also plays a vital role in the national economy. According to the research report, Social Security s Impact on the National Economy , by Gary Koenig and Al Myles, Social Security supports millions of jobs. The importance of this program is clearly evident in both the national economy and in the economic stability of each individual state. However, the future of the Social Security program does not look very stable and the right decisions need to be made in order to ensure the solidity of the nations economy. Social Security, referred to as Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI), is paid on a scheduled basis to workers who pay taxes and are either retired, disabled, or have passed away.
