Take this opportunity to learn more about SP 2013 and find out about the plans other organizations have for SP 2013. Some of the common concerns now include:
Should I wait for SP 2013 or move on with SP 2010?
How do I justify for SP 2013's investment?
With great improvements in features and usability, the SP product team now says that the web/intranet team can focus more on engaging with users needs rather than vendors' implementation. So what role do we play in SP 2013, and what role do vendors play?
What does it mean for migration from earlier versions of SharePoint?

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

Editor's Notes
Lets do a quick overview of the existing capabilities in Lotus Connections
- Profiles takes a simple and flexibly white pages model and adds collaborative and social capability to find experts, track friends and colleagues and link together the rest of Connections
- Communities support grassroots creation of interest groups or other teams and sharing of information among those groups
- Blogs allow individuals or groups to share and comment on ideas and expertise
- Dogear is a social bookmarking service which makes it easy to find pre-vetted information, browse tags and users and even capture an early view of developing trends
- Activities provides lightweight management of collaborative work, allowing you to focus on goals instead of tools
- The Homepage, introduced in Connections 2.0, brings together the recent Connections and other content relevant to you in a single, extensible interface.
In addition, there are a set of common capabilities across Connections, such as tagging, search, customization, feeds and so on. Connections is also accessible from other products such as Notes, Portal, Quickr and Office.

Lotus Connections runs on Websphere Application Server 6.1, and is supported on Windows, Linux, and AIX.
For authentication, we support Tivoli Directory Server, Active Directory, Domino, and SunOne.
We also support DB2 9.1 and 9.5, Oracle 10g and SQL Server 2005.
You can install any one of the 5 services. There is a sixth service, Homepage, that provides an aggregated view of the other 5. None of the services require one another, so you can install what your business needs now, and add on later.

It performs ETL services – it Extracts data from a source, Transforms it to something understood by the target repository, and Loads it into the target repository.
While TDI is not limited to identity data only (don’t let the word “Directory” mislead you), it is used with Lotus Connections Profiles to map and synchronize identity data between the Profiles database and one or more person data sources, such as your corporate LDAP, HR database, CRM database, files on a file system, Domino Directory, content management system – wherever you have identity data stored.
Naturally, all identity data stores that TDI maps to must be able to resolve a person’s unique ID, which is stored in the LDAP. So, for example, if you map TDI to your corporate LDAP and your HR database, that HR database must be able to resolve the LDAP-stored unique ID that is passed to it.
The TDI Runtime Server runs on a J2EE server, and can be installed on an existing server alongside other applications, depending on your specific operational requirements.
The TDI Configuration Editor, an IDE, can be installed on an administrator’s desktop. The Configuration Editor is used to create what are known as solutions, which comprise one or more Assembly Lines.

Assembly Lines are made up of one or more components, as you see listed here.

Moves, copies and transforms data between systems
Unique AssemblyLine methodology provides unparalleled speed of deployment, development and maintenance
Maps between schemas and attributes of the connected systems
The combined attribute flow and transformation rules create output for the target systems
JavaScript used in-depth transformation and exception handling
Profiles will be shipped, bundled with Tivoli Directory Integrator v6.1.1.
Profiles uses the TDI Assembly Lines to populate the Profiles primary database tables, and synchronize them with your LDAP and any other source database you’re drawing person information from. The synchronization schedule is set by the TDI administrator through the TDI Configuration Editor.
The TDI Assembly Lines are also used to publish any Profile updates made by end users, back to the LDAP using the Directory Service Markup Language (DSML) standard (currently at version 2). A DSML document can describe directory entries, a directory structure, or both. (NOTE to presenter: If you’d like to learn more about DSML, search IBM Dogear site on “dsml”)‏
Now, let’s take a little time to learn about what you map all those attributes to…

This is the general workflow used by TDI to initially populate employee data into the Profiles database.
