A form of escapism that many individuals partake in is the permanent decision to end one s life
in order to escape their misfortune. The purpose of committing suicide is to seek for a solution,
to those individuals suicide is the only answer to an otherwise unsolvable problem (Survivors of
Suicide). By ending their lives these individuals hope to escape the burden of responsibilities
while leaving behind the anguish of what they can not change. Studies show that those who seek
for a permanent solution like suicide often suffer from depression after they have repressed their

Concert Critique #1 I have never been personally a fan of the romantic orchestra music but going to
listen to a concert live is breathtaking. I attended the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra,
Masterpieces concert with music director Fouad Fakhouri performing Igor Stravinsky s Symphony
of Psalms and Gustav Mahler s Symphony No.1 in D major. There was a full stage of musicians
and a complete choir to back it up.
The first half of the performance was a complete orchestra of woodwinds, strings, drums, brass,
excreta and a four part choir. Overall the performance took no longer than thirty minutes to play the

orchestra perfect, as they did successfully.
After a minor wobble of the director stand, a few adjustments and giggles, Symphony No.1 in D
major began. The first movement started off with an eerie introduction, with the first two notes
morphing into a birdcall as well as main theme but a very magical sound. It made for a very
soothing, romantic time. Throughout the piece I felt as if it told a story as most music does,
what I came to believe it was a love story. The Allegro begins in the cello with the second
Wayfarer song, Ging heut morgen Ubers Feld, (I Walked this Morning over the Field). With a
light and happy tone in the beginning as if two lovers had just met, this was the main theme of
this movement. Suddenly there was a deep, heavy part maybe one of despair in paradise but that
only lasted for a short period as it came to a victorious ending of happily ever after. (Kahn)
The second movement Scherzo, gave more of an elegant, royal ball sound. Where the women dress
in gowns and the men in tuxedos, while drinking wine and dancing the night away. This movement
has the rhythm of the Landler, an Australian folk dance. It conforms to the classic minuet and trio
form though Mahler takes the first section beyond the standard repeat structure. The first three
notes of the Scherzo and the Trio recall the birdcall theme from the first movement. If

especially those who are misunderstood by society. Disabled people are more likely to be

talks about the struggle between Adam and his mother because of his disability. Adam struggles to
cope with his environment and finds himself isolated and misunderstood. Families ultimately suffer

power to fix him. Taking care of someone like Adam can be strenuous and tiring. The day to day
strain of providing assistance can lead to exhaustion and fatigue. This can create a whole set of
issues that create emotional stress, guilt, anxiety, anger , and uncertainty about the future. At the
same time, caretaking responsibilities may lead to changed or abandoned career plans. Adam s

Mental health illness is a major issue that several United States systems faces daily. Mental
illness can contribute to high crime rates, suicide, drug addiction, mass shootings, prison
overcrowding, and several other problems. This paper will discuss and examine mental health
issues as it develops and result in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the United States
Military, and specifically how PTSD can result in suicide among military service members. PTSD
is commonly and well known to infantry soldiers who were mostly deployed to Afghanistan and
Iraq war between 2001 and 2003 due to an overwhelming and challenging environment. The war in
Afghanistan and the invasion of Iraq conflicts, both have had a an actual impact on soldiers mental
