Medical Benefits Of Cloning In The United States
Cloning is an up and coming medical breakthrough that will benefit the lives of everyone immensely.
On the contrary, we as a nation may never be able to experience all of what cloning technology has to
offer. The governments is planning on banning or limiting the use of cloning in the United States.
Cloning can improve our means of society, and banning it will be putting the good of America on the
back burner.
The medical benefits of cloning have the potential to be the greatest breakthroughs in the field ever.
There are so many it s hard to just put your finger on one. The power of cloning will allow people to
be cured of diseases that have never been cured before. These diseases include Alzheimer s disease,
Parkinson s disease, diabetes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This gave many people suspicion that cloned animals aged prematurely. However, a daily anti
inflammatory treatment resolved the clinical signs within a few months. While Dolly was continuing
to get better, in January of 2001, Cedric, one of the cloned sheep, died. Cedric died of Sheep
Pulmonary Adenomatosis, which is caused by a virus that induces tumors to grow in the lungs of
affected animals. The virus is infectious and spread to other sheep by close contact. Scientist
immediately removed Dolly from the pen even though there was a good chance she was already
infected. Dolly did die of SPA after many, many months of the other sheep deaths. While this may
seem like a negative, it is actually a common disease of regular conceived sheep. This long and
effective research experiment showed many people in the science world that cloning animals has a
very bright future.(The Roslin Institute)
Dolly was a breakthrough in science. She showed us it is possible to clone from an adult cell. Don t be
fooled, it no where near perfect, but nothing is truly perfect. Dolly gave us a base to learn and
continue to improve on. Think about it, when scientist first discovered anesthesia, atomic energy, and
recombinant DNA, they started with one successful experiment and continued to improve the means
of it. They could have lead to deleterious application, but in turn it changed the entire world s way of
living, just as cloning has the potential to do.( Di Berardino Marie

Descartes Meditation 4 Essay
By the start of Meditation Four Descartes has established the reliability of his clear and distinct
criterion of knowledge, and he has concluded that he exists as an essentially thinking thing and that
the idea of an infinite, perfect being entails God s existence. Descartes has also eliminated concern
about being systematically deceived, since acting in such a way would be indicative of some
deficiency rather than the exercise of some power, and God is perfect. This generates further
questions, as humans do regularly judge falsely, even without the meddling of a malicious, deceptive
being (99). Given God s nature, attributing error to him is unacceptable, but, conversely, how could
humans be blamed for the faulty faculty of judgement that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descartes begins by distinguishing the real and positive idea of God from the opposite negative idea
of nothingness, placing himself in the middle of this spectrum (99). He is finite and imperfect but, as
God s creation, his nature contains nothing which itself facilitates mistakes. Since he exists between
God and nothingness, however, he also participate[s] in nothingness or non being (99 100). Errors of
judgement, then, must stem from nothingness, the absolute absence of all perfection. Mistakes are not
things resulting from an error making faculty dependent on God, but instead lackings of a limited,
fallible faculty of judgement. This answer, Descartes admits, does not fully address the problem, since
a lacking is not a pure negation and implies that something which ought to be present is missing.
Could God have failed to grant some perfection that we should possess? Descartes contrasts his own
weak and limited nature with God s immense, incomprehensible and infinite nature, deeming that God
s reasoning is beyond the scope of his understanding and that, feasibly, a world with errors is best
when examined in its entirety

The Importance Of Soil And Evaluation Of Taxonomic Evidence
Introduction
Using an object centred approach this narrative will attempt to go beyond the subject s simple
classification of a red figured Stamnos (The British Museum, n.d) . Analysis of function, status and
meaning of this Stamnos provide evidence of how it has changed over time. This is further achieved
by examining the production, consumption and afterlife of Attic pottery (Hughes et al., 2014, p.60) .
Production
To begin, an intrinsic measure of soil and evaluation of taxonomic evidence identifies this Stamnos as
between 450BC 440BC of Athenian provenance. Raw material excavated from a clay bed then
transported to the Kerameikos (Wiley Online Library, 2012) became divided into component
quantities. For decoration a portion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Attic vases gained their distinctive red and black colours from this method of firing, presenting a
genre known as red figure painting (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . Consequently, in black figure painting
the colours are reversed. Often, the addition of White paint distinguished females, who were otherwise
underrepresented in often misogynistic evidence from ancient Greek literature.
Consumption
Meanwhile, assiduous ethnography (Harrison et al., 2014, p.14) provides evidence of the consumption
habits of Ancient Greeks. High end pottery, designed to promote the owners status, included the
addition of precious metals. Society s elite paradigm of leisure included boisterous drinking games
(Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . This Stamnos functioned as a vessel for mixing wine enjoyed by heavy
drinking Greeks who seldom enjoyed their wine neat . The average Ancient Greek pursuing a life of
temperance regarded Attic pottery as affordable, functional, multipurpose containers for everyday
domestic use (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . Proclivities towards Attic pottery, particularly through
marriage and funeral ceremonies (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) maintained the Ancient Greek s piety.
Mythical narratives within Attic pottery appealed greatly not only to modern collectors but to Romans
and Etruscans before them. An example of this appears on this Stamnos, in the form of the
iconography upon the warrior s shield.

The Great Chilean Earthquake On Chile
Earthquakes throughout the world have devastated certain areas of the world, some places more than
others. One area of the world that has been absolutely devastated by many earthquakes throughout
time is the South American country, Chile. While there have been many very substantial earthquakes
in Chile, one stands out most, The Great Chilean Earthquake. On May 22, 1960, The Great Chilean
Earthquake hit Chile. This is the largest earthquake ever recorded with a magnitude of 9.5 out of 10.0.
It absolutely traumatized the country of Chile and surrounding areas. Just the earthquake itself wasn t
the only thing doing damage, the quake caused monstrous tsunamis across the coast of Chile and it
even caused tsunamis in Hawaii, Japan, and the Philippines. For an earthquake to not only cause mass
destruction to the area of the quake, but to strongly affect other places, just goes to show how
powerful The Great Chilean Earthquake was. Not only has Chile have to deal with this great
earthquake, Chile has been hit with almost 30 8.0 earthquake throughout time that we know of. Chile
also has 2 of the top 10 biggest earthquakes ever recorded. The Great Chilean Earthquake and the the
amount of big earthquakes Chile has to deal with, definitely affects how the Chilean people live
everyday, they have to live in fear that the next Big One could devastate their country again.
The Great Chilean Earthquake was caused when the Nazca Plate subducted under the South American

How to Tell a True War Story Essays
War can be defined as an active struggle between competing entities. It s truly hard to tell who is right
or wrong during a war. Both sides are fighting for what they believe in and what is true to their heart.
In the end there is always two things promised destruction and death. These two objects can explain
the result in every facet of war from the physical to emotional.
In How to Tell a True War Story O Brien explores the relationship between the events during a war
and the art of telling those events. O Brien doesn t come to a conclusion on what is a true war story.
He writes that one can t generalize the story as well. According to O Brien, war can be anything from
love and beauty to the most horrid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is similar to what happened to Krebs in Hemingway s Soldier s Home . Krebs has returned home
to find that it is not that everybody and the world around him has changed, but he was the one that had
changed. He has fought in some of the worst wars there were and he didn t want to come back home.
Krebs dreaded coming back to the states, and would have preferred to stay overseas. Krebs was once
used to a normal life. He went to a Christian school and was a part of a fraternity. His perception on
life had changed drastically after enlisting in the military and fighting in a war. When he returned
home, the girls that he saw on the street were the same as when he was there years ago. His father still
parks his car in the same spot day in and day out. His mother tries to encourage him to get a job, but
he doesn t care. He was so accustomed to the repetition of a soldier s life. He couldn t adjust to the
typical lifestyle that other soldiers made. Somehow you can see the struggle he is going through. After
the physical war, there was a war going on internally. Krebs had lost his emotion and will to care. The
horror he experienced actually seeing first hand life and death situations were incomprehensible to his
parents. There was no way they would be able to identify with him.
It doesn t matter where anyone played a role in a war; the nature of the war itself leaves a tremendous
impact on everyone s life. Just retelling a story

Life in 50 Years in Three Countries
It is the year 2056, and China has become the leading superpower in the world. With more wealth,
resources, and manpower than many of the other modern countries combined, China dominates the
free market and commerce. The Chinese Yuan has become worth almost as much as the American
dollar. In the major cities of China, life is streamlined and fast paced. However, life has remained
mostly unchanged for the Chinese farmer living out in the country. Though new technology is
available, not much of it has reached in the farmer s small village. Though, with global satellites in

about what she would do in between jobs. Life in the small country of Ghana, West Africa, has not
improved greatly for its people over the last 50 years. Though the country is still one of the top
producers of gold and oil, its per capita income has barely increased, even after fifty years. This is due
to Ghana s dependence on foreign trade and international assistance. Much of the people are under the
poverty level, and the majority of the country s workforce is through agricultural privately owned
land. For the African parents who live here, it is still very difficult to raise their children, and provide
for them. Because the average family in Ghana still has about four children per household, the country
cannot keep the growing population fed. Poverty and starvation are on the rise as the rapid population
growth outstrips food production and the availability of amenities for all parts of it. The government

Apparently, very little seems changed since the time of the Goffman s analysis. His search is not
entirely comparable with the GEMMA ones, because it refers to different times, contexts, and media,
but the majority of the detected representations has more than one point of contact with the survey of
the Canadian sociologist. In particular, the Goffman s role function, ie the association between
masculinity and positions of power and femininity and secondary tasks, often related to the of the f
home keeping and the care of the family, is also found in most of our sample, populated by many
housewives and few female workers.

Your husband does not say a word during the dinner? Remove the dish from the table! , Attention
moms! This meal keeps children at home beyond the age of 40 years . This is an ironic campaign,
according to its creators, because it refers to a far past and invites mothers and wives to not defrost the
ready meals, while having the intent to get it done. However, despite the intention, it reminds old
stereotypes not completely outdated in the Italian culture and too common in the television advertising
to seem ironic
Despite the expectations and the spread of the concerns in the Italian debate on gender and the media,
the sensual woman/object to be observed and used, is not a very popular figure in our sample. If
anything, she is an element, sometimes discreet sometimes gaudy, which serves to embellish the scene
or to a attract or gratificate the gaze. However, this figure appears often in the spot of products more
or less related to seduction, like the underware. A commercial of the brand Intimissimi, for example,
consists of only close ups and extreme close ups of the model Irina Shaykhlislamova, wearing panties
and bra, staging the feminine touch well depicted by Goffman. This is also that type of woman found
in many commercials with female endorsers chosen more for their beauty than for skills or
knowledge. In the sample analyzed is common, for example, the presence of models or actresses like

How Did The North American Colonists Have Taxes Justified
North American colonists chose to revolt against the king to get rid of unfair taxes and unjust
treatment of its citizens. When the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights were made, the developers
made sure that there was taxation with representation, and no cruel and unusual punishment. Every
time there is a war, money must be raised to maintain it. However, unlike the king, taxes were made
without proper reason and proof made it harder for colonists to understand why the king s actions
were justified. During the Stamp Act of 1765, Britian declared that all documents (newspapers, books,
court documents, etc.) must be stamp and that a stamp purchase must be required to help finance the
stationing of British troops throughout North America.1 American colonists were not recognized in
the House of Commons, and claimed that Britain had no reason to impose taxes solely based on
making profit on regulating trade.2 The colonists allegiance was still to Britain, but they later decide
to boycott the act due to the invalid response made by Parliament. The Townshead Acts of 1767
allowed exports to be taxed and a creation of a board of customs commissioners to prevent any further
smuggling of goods.3 This act was later repealed a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Public Cloud And Private Cloud For Their Respective...
public cloud and private cloud for their respective intended environments. IV. PROPOSAL FOR
CLOUD TECHNOLOGY IN BANKING SYSTEM As the bank businesses grow rapidly, the amount
of information and data in bank grow in multiplicative nonrepresentational times. This demand high
data storage capacity and reliability. Presently, most commercial grade banks majorly adopt two types
of storage applications namely NAS (Network Attached Storage) and SNA (Storage Area Network).
NAS always uses the same network as applications use, which can easily cause final congestion and
on the other hand, SNA uses physical infrastructure that are too expensive for banks to spend[10].
These two applications are stated in cloud computing technology. NAS application is a kind of
distributed file system and uses the networks, just like Google File System (GFS) while SNA
application separates storage devices from networks, and uses enterprise itself. The one time directs at
private cloud, and the second directs at public cloud. These two applications are both adopted in
building clustered systems. Cloud storage structure consists of five subsystems, covering Client Agent
(CA), Cloud Management System (CMS), Object Storage Node (OSN), Integrated Storage
Management (ISM) and Metadata Server (MDS). Client Agent are sort of portal websites
communicating clouds, that allows to read, write and alter the files. CMS is a bridge between

Street Daylight Kevin Peterson Analysis
Kevin Peterson is a Houston based figurative painter. He has done many works of graffiti art such as
Into the Light, Rooster Brand, Cold, Angel, and Street Light. The urban environment plays a huge roll
in his provoking visual subject matter. He prefers to set children against a backdrop of harsh streets
and graffiti covered surroundings. The painter claims his inspiration leaps from this juxtaposition, the
purity and innocence that the youth present contrasted with the weathered and decayed areas of the
metropolis. In Peterson s moving works, there is a contrast that suffices as both a metaphor and a
recurring composition. At one point the walls and backdrops in my paintings were shiny and new,
untouched, just like we were as kids, he says. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

covered in vibrant, angular graffiti known as wildstyle. With bright tones of orange, red, blue, and

the art piece. Wildstyle is known for its intricate letterforms as well as directional arrows, stars and
other shapes (Manley). The graffiti is hard to read. Peterson purposely chopped off the beginning and
end of the name or word on the piece so it cannot be read at all. This cropping technique strengthens

Buddhist monks also made their way into China with Buddhist scriptures and Buddhist art in their

many Chinese began to convert to the new religion that was brought into china. In fact, Buddhism

Monotheism Vs Abrahamic Religion
Monotheism is the act of believing in one God. The three religions that practice monotheism are
Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each of these religions have a direct link to Abraham; thus being
called the Abrahamic Religions. Judaism is linked to Abraham as he is proclaimed as the Patriarch of
the Jewish people and the Father of the Covenant. Likewise, Muslims view Abraham as the Father of
the Arab people as well as the Jewish people through his two sons, Isaac and Ishmael. Christians view
Abraham as the prototype of all believers, the Father of the Covenant and the Father of Isaac and
Ishmael. Sacred traditions are treated with both celebration and seriousness in the monotheistic
religions.
Just as God instructed Abraham 4000 years ago, a sacred Jewish ritual would be the circumcision of
all baby boys when they reach eight days of age. Another ritual is when families gather to welcome
the Holy day of the Sabbath. For a Jewish person, their religion is very much dedicating their lives to
God, where their whole life becomes an act of worship. The LORD would speak to Moses face to

The Little Girl
We first hear the word power in our lifetime often when we are children. Usually in a question what is
your favorite super power ? Most children answer with abnormal abilities such as flying or invisibility.
In its most innocent way power is inherent we think of it as an ability. However as most children grow
up they learn that power isn t always on the good guys side. Power is defined as what enables one
person to control the behaviors of others . Power turns into a struggle from teacher to student, parents
to children, and any other relationship we possess.
Children for example need guidance and protection, therefore being a perfect example of the power
dynamic legitimate power. Legitimate power can be found within our culture and society from our
education system to our own respective family lives. Although many situations are different there is
likely someone seen in a position of power based off nothing more than their position in your life.
This can be seen in the movie crash where the little girl (Lara) believes and inherently trusts her father
(Danial). He has a right of power based on the fact he s her father which allows a level of trust, and
feeling of safety for the little girl. Furthermore legitimate power can also be found in work place
environments where employer and employee relationship are in continuous power struggles. This

of the development of human society, the fact is that the disparity between the rich and poor is gaining

What is welfare? As Bent Greve point out in What is Welfare, the word welfare comes from wel fare,
it is from well in its still familiar sense and fare, primarily understood as a journey or arrival but later
also as a supply of food (Williams 1976, 281), and has historically been related to happiness and
prosperity, where as its current understanding first emerged in the 20th century(51). Modern social
welfare mainly means government redistribute the whole social fortune in order to help the vulnerable
groups by establishing revelant law. So the goal of social welfare is obviously to help the vulnerable
groups which includes the poor. As the opinion in Goal of Social Welfare, the goal of social welfare is
to fulfill the social, health, and recreational requirements of all individuals in a society (Goal). The
social welfare can narrow the rich poor gap by redistributing the social fortune, on the contrary, the
unsound social welfare will not work and even widen the rich poor gap. A character of unsound social
welfare is that it can not redistribute social fortune effectively. For example, if the strength of a
unsound welfare system is not enough, it will not really redistribute whole social fortune. The poor
still can not get enough help from the society. Another character of a unsound social welfare system is
that it can not really change the poor s situations with the limited money. Some countries are

Factors That Empower And Constrain Mncs Essay
The mounting standing of multinational corporations (MNCs) in today s global economy has held
some interest from international organizations, national government agencies and local citizens (Yang
Huang 2011: 3). MNCs have risen to prominence through mergers, procurement and setting up new
enterprises, and they have operated businesses throughout the world (Yang Huang 2011: 3). They
mobilize resources, develop vertical and horizontal production networks and penetrate all kinds of
markets across borders (Yang Huang 2011: 3). These acts have changed the operations of a national
economy as well as the relationships among them (Yang Huang 2011: 3). In this essay, I will seek to
evaluate the factors that empower and constrain MNCs, and thus forge and communicate the
understanding of whether their structural power has been on the incline or on the decline.
To begin with, the research took the direction of understanding of what a multinational corporation is
defined as and its scope and advantage. Peter Dicken s (2008) chapter on Transnational Corporations:
The Primary Movers and Shapers of the Global Economy was insightful in understanding that a
transnational corporation is a firm that has the power to coordinate and control operations in more
than one country, even if it does not own them (Dicken 2008: 106). In Dicken s view, the transnational
corporation has grown into the perception of being the main shaper of the present day global economy

Synthesis Of Polyethylene Lab Report
Introduction
In the modern world, it is near impossible to live in an environment where one is not exposed and
reliant upon the use of polymers. From credit cards to nappies; plastic bottles to prescription glasses,
the applications of polymers encompass an endless range of everyday necessities. However, the
significance of synthetic polymers was not universally recognised until its initial introduction as
polyethylene during World War II. During the combat, they served as a critical material for insulated
radar electronics (ACC, 2005).
The basic principles of polymers originate from organic chemistry. Organic chemistry is the field of
science associated with the structure, properties, and reactions of compounds that contain carbon. The
simplest organic compounds are hydrocarbons, consisting of carbon and hydrogen atoms joined
together by molecular covalent bonds. Within this category is a subdivision of saturated hydrocarbons
with double covalent bonds, specifically identified as alkenes. The presence of a double bond allows
alkenes to react in ways similar to that of a monomer. A monomer is a small, singular molecule which,
through chemical means, may combine to form a larger molecule (See Fig 1). The resultant larger
molecule is a polymer, comprised of long, repeated chains of identical ... Show more content on

A Brief Biogarphy of Edgar Hoover
A hero is born in turbulent days. When President Herbert was first elected as the U.S president, the
whole country enjoyed the time of prosperity. During the time, Herbert was considered an idol of
ordinary people; he was raised from poor Iowa orphan to one of the most celebrated mining engineers.
Even though there were murmurs worrying about that he had never held an elected public office, had a
poor political touch, and was too thin skinned to be an effective politician, most Americans considered
him a hero who is able to solve any problems ahead. There was no better person to lead the country.
However, in months later he was unfortunately faced the problem of the decade, which now called as
the Great Depression. In early days of the time, people did not worry too seriously about the economic
situation, because they had Hoover as president in the White House. He was absolutely the last
fortress of the people. However, the impregnable fortress was destroyed by the power of the Great
Depression, and he could not lead as he wanted to do. He was not the Hero that the people awaited for.
The author describes of Hoover s childhood as the continuing infelicity. He lost his parents in his early
age and had to motivate himself to have a better tomorrow out of working harder today. I believe his
earnestness to earn his own living without any help of anybody takes the most parts of his early
success. One of the traits that made him distinguishable from others is that he always

Satire in “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde...
A satire is a piece of work that is designed to ridicule or tease a group or organization, generally for
the purpose of being humorous. The Importance of Being Earnest, a play by Oscar Wilde, is a satire,
ridiculing class, gender, and marriage. This essay will describe some points from each of these
sections, as well as give a brief synopsis of the play these examples come from. The Importance of
being Earnest includes three acts, with seven major characters. In act one, we start with a conversation
between Jack (a notable bachelor) and Algernon (an in debt bachelor, with a laid back temperament),
in which we learn both have made up friends, who are often sick, as to escape from wherever they live
whenever they want. We also learn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gwendolyn and Cecily act as friends until they learn that they are supposedly engaged to the same
person. Then they learn neither of them are engaged to anybody named Ernest, and are friends again.
In act three, we discover Jacks history, including that he is Algernon s elder brother. In the end, despite
several lies, arguments, and much turmoil, everybody gets married. There are many examples of satire
referring to class. One of the first is the fact that the side of the street you live on affects how
fashionable you are. This is an example of satire because it is not true, and is ridiculing high class
people by pointing out how shallow that they can be. Another example is the statement that sugar is a
low class food item. This is a satire for the same reason as the first example. A third example of class
related satire is that high class people always talk about other peoples business. This ridicules high
class people for being churlish and not allowing for other peoples privacy. In all, Earnest points out
how snobbish and shallow Mr. Wilde thought high class people are. There are also many examples of
gender based satire. The first of these is that only men can have a Bunburry. This is not true and shows
that men think themselves more sophisticated than women. A second example of this type of satire is
that women marry for a name. This is a satire because it ridicules women for being shallow. A final
example of gender related satire is that women are

Ravers Persuasive Essay
According to ravers, raves are an evolutionary type of party that everyone should experience. In a
society that is constantly changing, raves have come to be a part of evolution. It s been told that raves
started out as a secretive late after hour parties held in clubs, commercial buildings, and even private
homes for invited guests only. Its popularity did not uncover until the early 1990 s. Drugs are a big
part of raves, approximately 90% of the people that attended raves are under the influence of some
kind of drug. In the very beginning acid and marijuana were the most common drugs until the
appearance of ecstasy. Ravers simply call ecstasy by its short name E or X. The market price ranges
from $15 to as high as $25 per pill, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

LSD causes extreme changes in mood, anywhere from a spaced out bliss to intense terror, are also

drug and which are part of reality. The sixties saw harder and more dangerous drugs like heroin began
finding their popularity in the music scene. In 1970 Jimi Hendrix died of from choking on his vomit
after a night of partying and an excessive amount of sleeping pills; also that year, Janis Joplin was
found dead of a heroin overdose. Jim Morrison was found dead in a Paris apartment bathtub in 1971.

The Effect Of Creativity On The Classroom
The following section of this paper will be a critical discussion about the materials Elliott discussed in
the chapter. Overall I really enjoyed Elliott s arguments about creativity, I found it very easy to read
and helped open my eyes on the use of creativity in the classroom. The creative philosophy that Elliott
outlines in this chapter was incredibly helpful. I have always thought of the creative aspect in a
classroom as being a compositional project, or improvisation and Elliott s disapproval of that thought
process has cleared some questions I had. There are so many possibilities to involve creativity in the
classroom now, such as with performance, composition, improvisation, listening assignments and
more. I am very excited to get out there and try some new lessons out for myself. Furthermore, the
curriculum tends to feel too broad yet too limited at the exact same time when it comes to creativity.
There are four components in the curriculum and they often seem very segregated. Even in some of
our classes it has always been, write a lesson plan for one of the wings . I really like this idea of Elliott
s to always involve creativity because then it combines the wings. Creativity can take place alongside
performance, historical context or critical evaluation. It is our job as teachers to stop segregating these
wings so that everything is not so blocked off. Taking a step back, what would have been great in this
chapter is if Elliott went into further detail of how to

Colonel Pyncheon Revenge
In The House of the Seven Gables, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses the Maules witchcraft as a key to
revenge on the Pyncheon family. Many Pyncheon generations later, they still believe they have control
of the Maules because they ended up with the land. They possess a sense of entitlement because they
believe they are becoming close to millionaires and the Pyncheon inheritors are willing to do anything
to obtain the fortune. The Maules, however, have their secret legacy, guaranteeing them to receive not
only the money, land, and house but also revenge for the years of superiority from the Pyncheon s.
Colonel Pyncheon wants Matthew Maule s land because of Maule s well, a spring full of fresh water,
and where his house sits. He demands he has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

faculty of blighting corn, and drying children into mummies with the heartburn. (132) The Maules
possess witchcraft in them, and Matthew uses it on Alice Pyncheon, Old Colonel Pyncheon s
granddaughter.
Gervayse Pyncheon, just like any other Pyncheon, shows greed over the deed and money. He brings in
Matthew Maule to tell him where the deed was, as he once worked on the house when it went missing.
He asks for Alice and he sends her to him because his will to give up anything to find the inheritance.
Matthew ends up hypnotising Alice and turns her into his slave. Gervayse Pyncheon now cannot
obtain the deed and also loses Alice through greed as a consequence of his.
The Pyncheons possess a never ending curse because of the generations before. The faults of the
beginning generations affect older generations after. The Pyncheons believe they control the house and
will find the land deed, not knowing that a Pyncheon cannot do such a thing. The Maule s end up with

Isaac Asimov What Is Intelligence Anyway
My thoughts on What is Intelligence Anyway? In the essay What is Intelligence Anyway? the author
Isaac Asimov shows how despite what popular consensus is, whether a person is considered intelligent
or not will depend on the subject at hand. There is no denying that he is right about this. Asimov talks
about his conversations with his auto mechanic and how he was considered intelligent due to how he
scored on some tests while his mechanic would do poorly on the test. Despite that Asimov admits he
doesn t understand the first thing about cars. This would mean that Asimov is intelligent by school
standards but not by automobile standards. I can relate to both Asimov and the Mechanic in this
situation. While I know the secrets and how

How Human Resource Policies Influence the Performance of Medium Sized Manufacturing Firms
1. Introduction Globalization has created a paradigm shift in the ways by which firms conduct their
business. The convergence of world economies has minimized and in some cases eliminated both
legislative and geographical barriers to international production and sale of goods and services. The
flip side of this process is the increased competition for world markets created especially by the threat
of multinational firms to local firms (Garry Litan, 1998). Local firms must find ways to compete and
survive the threat of take over and crowding out of the market by multinational producers who enjoy
favorable economies of scale. This is effectively achieved by ways of in themselves creating this very
economy of scale; expanding business operations helps them lower the marginal cost of production
allowing them to therefore provide a favorable pricing policy within the market. In achieving the
aforementioned, firms must build up capacity. The attention of managers and researchers alike has
been commonly directed towards assets in the sense of physical (fixed and current) and monetary
assets (optimal capital structure) of the firm in achieving this objective. Perhaps as an oversight or of
limited interest is the aspect of human

My Experience In High School Essay
It was a cool fall day, the pleasant cool breeze against my face, as I make my way down the road to
the rendezvous point. I arrive at the high school, and realize I m slightly early. I put the skateboard on
the ground and proceed to attempt to ride it, thankful that no one was there to see. Though I enjoy
skating, the point of meeting at the high school was so that no one had to see our novice attempts at it.
After five minutes of failing to get the board to leave the ground with me remaining on it, Raith and
Mea cross the road just in time to witness my pitiful endeavor. We spent most of the morning cruising
on our boards and sitting, drinking various sodas we had brought, and chatting. It was a rather
enjoyable start to the day, but by the time noon rolled around, most of us had to use the bathroom. So
we collectively decided to head down to the skate park because it was close, had a bathroom, and
sounded like it could be fun. Little did we know how much trouble would come from this little trip.
We arrive at the skate park to find that, surprisingly, no one is there. I make my way to the bathroom,
as well does the rest of the group. Afterwards we can t see the point of heading back immediately. I
attempt a few ramps and fall on my butt a few times so, ultimately, we decide to sit at the bench and
talk. I was facing the road and Raith and Mea sat with their backs to it. At this point, I m already
uncomfortable being here, because I can t skate to save my life and have

Potential Contributions of Information Aggregation and...
Assessing the Potential Contributions of Information Aggregation and Knowledge Brokering To
Improve Business Process Performance Introduction The depth and value of tacit knowledge an
organization has within its own structure and surrounding ecosystem is significant and potentially
transformative in its value. Combined with the explicit knowledge organizations possess, which
according to empirically derived studies, is just 30% of total knowledge captured (Wilhelm,
Kohlbacher, 2011), organizations have latent potential to improve processes yet are not capturing it.
The role of Information Aggregation Mechanisms (IAM) (Chen, Plott, 2002), prediction markets and
methodologies (Dye, 2008), and the potential to transform businesses processes with this collective
intelligence (Billington, Davidson, 2010) is the focus of this analysis. Insights gained from the
literature review leading up to this study indicate that a more precise form of crowdsourcing is
emerging gaining insights into recurring and predictive oriented events (Dye, 2008). The emergence of
hidden profiles or concentrated groups of experts who have the majority of tacit knowledge an
organization requires to innovate are starting to emerge in the work retailer BestBuy is doing for
example (Dye, 2008). The power of the IAM mechanisms combined with collective intelligence to
completely re order an industry can be seen in the emergence of Linux as the open source platform of
choice for many enterprises globally

Identification Of Unknown Amino Acid
Identification of Unknown Amino Acid
Measurements of Buffer Capacity
Student #: 998493250
Authors: Young, Lee Melissa
Abstract
The titration curve of the unknown exhibited many characteristics, such as equivalence points, pKa of
ionizable groups, isoelectric point, and buffer regions, that are particularly distinct to lysine. For
unclear reasons, the pH during the titration did not reach the pH for pure 0.2 M NaOH nor 0.2 M HCl
and normal equivalence points expected at two extreme ends of the titration curves for all amino acids
were not observed. The titration of a phosphate buffer showed that the buffer capacity is directly
proportional to the molarity of the buffer. However, our results showed that although the initial pH of
the phosphate buffer was less than the pKa value, the measured buffer capacity was higher towards
acid than base. The accuracy of the pH meter and calibration process was questioned under
assumptions that the pH of the prepared phosphate buffer was actually above pKa.
Introduction
The hydrogen ion (H+) concentration is extremely important to living organisms. Even small changes
in H+ ¬¬ion concentration can cause serious consequences to the structural and functional integrity of
molecules. Consequently, it is important to regulate the pH within strict limits so that important
biochemical processes of living systems can proceed normally.
Buffers play a crucial role in maintaining a relatively constant pH in living organisms.

What I Learned When Evaluating My School
When I evaluate my school year, many things come to mind. I ponder about all my friends, too. I think
about the highs, lows, and the emotional times with my closest friends. I also as well, think about how
I have grown. My 7th grade year at CMS was full of concepts learned, memorable experiences, and my
personal growth. The concepts that I learned helped me grow throughout the year. One concept was
Philosophical Chairs, from my AVID class. It showed me how to compose a good debate on a subject
of your choice. You should always have a straight statement and at least a couple facts and people to
support your discussion on the subject of your choice. Another concept that I learned was Video
Production. By teaching us this we learned how to follow directions and produce and direct a great
video. You always need to be involved in this type of assignment. One more concept that I learned was
about the Salt and Gold trade in history. In these times back then gold was a very important material
that everyone wanted and it became a monumental time and part of West African history. All of these
learning techniques and skills will definitely help me move on in my career. ... Show more content on

Advantages Of Lenovo
3.1 Recommended Future strategic direction to attain competitive advantage
3.1.1 Proposed strategy
It is important for a company to choose a relevant internationalization strategy in order to attain
competitive advantage. Basically, competitive advantage is a company s ability to perform in one or
more ways that competitors cannot or will not match (Philip Kotler, Gary Armstrong, 2007, p182)
As Lenovo has been successfully internationalizing into other country by using joint venture as their
strategy, the new relevant proposed strategy that the company can use is direct exporting. Direct
exporting is considered relevant to be used as the new strategy for Lenovo because it is the least risky
strategy of all. In fact, Lenovo can maximizes their profit and minimizing their risk in direct exporting

As direct exporting is the new proposed strategy in 3.1.1, Lenovo will be focusing on the pressures for
global integration which is to seek cost reduction through economies of scale and arbitrage benefits.
As Lenovo wanted to attain competitive advantage through cost leadership strategy, they first have to
cut down their cost in order to be able to sell product with lower price. Hence, the pressure of global
integration in cost reduction is identified there.
The advantages that global integration can give to Lenovo through cost leadership are that they can
help Lenovo to save costs and achieve global efficiencies. They can also improve the quality of
product and processes. High quality product promotes global brand recognition and gives rise to
customer preference and efficient international marketing programs. They create economies of scale,
which can result in lower operational costs, higher quality standardized product and homogenization
consumer demand.

Achilles Shield In The Iliad
The Iliad tells many great mystical tales while also containing pieces of history. One of the greatest
wars documented in the Iliad is between the Trojans and the massive Mycenaean kingdom. The
greatest warrior remembered from that battle who ultimately won the battle for the Mycenaeans is
Achilles, known for his magnificent ability to take lives and conquer kingdoms. Most know him for
his great swordsmanship and his god like art of battle(Patterson, May 4th); although, his shield is the
most significant piece of equipment from that battle for Troy that he fought against Princes Hector. It
was not the sword that ended Hector s life, but the shield that Achilles used in battle due to the mass
amount of symbolic value it holds. As well as how beautiful Homer describes the shield to be. It had
to be a glorious piece of armor because it was said to be crafted by a god Hephaestus (History.com

Homer said after Hector stripped Achilles s armor off of Patroclus, Achilles long time friend, or lover,

Psalms Literary Analysis
When reading the Psalms the reader should actively read as in participating in a sport. My professor of
English Dr. John Burkett instilled this into the class as we studied the Psalms. This sets the stage when
actively reading, the reader is engulfed by the text and is then alongside with the psalmist: in feeling,
emotion and even to the landscape where the psalmist is. Thus, actively reading motivates the reader
to clearly understand the meaning of the text that is read. The word is described in the Dictionary of
hermeneutics by Dr. James D. Hernando reads: Meaning is a word used differently by scholars in their
various approaches to interpretation . David writes the Psalms for the reader to understand the fuller
meaning as in the Sensus plenior . However David uses figurative language he is writing with the
readers in mind. Figurative language refers to all uses of words that are metaphorical or symbolic in
nature, conveying a meaning different from their common, literal sense. An example of David s
figurative language is You have kept count of my tossing s; put my tears in Your bottle; are they not in
Your book (Ps. 56:8 ESV)? The bottle is a figurative meaning of God remembering all his tears. God
does not need a bottle for remembrance this is a way for David to convey to his reader s Gods eternal
loving memory will remember their every teardrop. When diving into this nugget of truth, God s love
for us is unfathomable. The depth of love from David s point

Overfishing In South Africa
Overfishing has become a devastating reality and priority concern to our Oceans in South Africa, as
well on a global scale. The interest of overfishing, is to eradicate hunger issues in developing
countries all over the world, as well as to create a vast improvement of job opportunities, however due
to our unsustainable fishing practices, it is just a matter of time before our oceans are completely
depleted of marine species, and the destruction of the aquatic ecosystem. This issue will resort to
irreparable socio economic and environmental circumstances that will be of severe consequence if we
do not alter our local and international commercial fishing operations. Due to overfishing throughout
the continents, South African waters has become a viable target for international role players to
maintain the demand of fishing operations and fish stocks that is required for global markets. Due to
inadequately monitored fishing operations, overfishing has left South Africa with a significant
shortage of food resources for the poor, who depend on fish as their staple diet. According to the

The Generation Of The Workforce
There are five generations in the workforce, each unique and with similar characteristics as the others
(Noe, 2017):
Traditionalists/ Silent Generation, born 1925 to1945
Baby Boomers, born in 1946 to 1964
Generation X 1965 to 1980
Generation Y/Millennials/Echo Boomers, born in 1981 to 1995
Generation Z/Digital Natives, born in 1996 and on
For many years, many organizations focused on aging workforce issues; however, the shift is moved
to trying to manage a multigenerational workforce (Cekada, 2012). Many Baby Boomers are still
working with Obama Care, they are working to pay for Affordable Health Care costs and
prescriptions. With the Baby Boomers about to leave the workforce, there are steps that an
organization must take to keep the baton of knowledge from leaving with them. First is to assess the
training needs; second, set up a budget to meet the needs; third, choose between Traditional or
Technology based method to deliver the required training.
First, an organization must assess their training needs to set up a training program that s effective and
foundational. A training needs assessment is used to determine whether training is the right solution to
a workplace problem (Cekada, 2010, p. 28). Data must be gathered continually to determine what
training needs must be met and develop a plan to accomplish the organization s objectives because

The Pros And Cons Of High School Students
One of the problems teachers in America fear with students is whether they should have a job. Most
students, in their junior and senior year of high school, have part time jobs. However, junior year and
senior year claims to be the busiest years of a high school student. So particularly, teachers feel as if
students shouldn t work too much or they shouldn t work at all being that they may overwork
themselves or not stay focus on school. Students should have the benefit of working through high
school if it s going to be beneficial later in life or college even if they have to go through some
setbacks or lessons learned.
Being that most teens want to work during their high school journey, they have to understand that
there are pros and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Getting a job in high school and having a résumé, it won t actually be too many jobs on the list so in
that case, it s not going to exactly qualify as genuine work involvement. Most teens would most likely
be working at fast food restaurants, cashiers, babysitters, and etc. There are a few jobs that won t have
a high pay, but it ll be enough just for a high school student working.
Having time management is very import in today s generation. Being a high school student and having
a job at the same time will definitely be beneficial for future references. It teaches them how boost
their self esteem, credit hours, and be responsible like an adult. Time management is basically what
takes over being a high school student. It s the most important idea in high school. Learning how to
manage more than one thing at a time will only be helpful for when the student is about to start their
college life. It s like the student is starting ahead of time while they re in high school so they can know
what to expect in college. In high school and having a job could be less more difficult than having a
job in college. In college, you re going to deal with more credit hours, more duties and have more life
experiences.
Most people get excited when they get a job. Sometimes, the excitement can become into stress. Being
a high school student can overall be stressful alone. Wanting a job and dealing with school is only
adding more weight onto some that may not can handle alone. With

spectroscopy (Figure 4c). The FTIR analysis of T BN shows two strong absorption peaks at ∼1382
and ∼790 cm−1, ascribed to the in plane B N transverse stretching vibration and the B N B out of
plane bending vibration, respectively [35 37]. The broad absorption peaks at ∼3415 and ∼3227 cm−1
indicate the presence of residual B−OH and B−NH2 groups, respectively. The same FTIR results are
also observed for F BN. However, the higher intensity of the IR peaks of F BN as compared to that of
T BN indicates the existence of stronger interlayer interaction because of the presence of more number
of amino functional groups at the F BN surface, strongly reducing the porosity and decreasing the
surface area of the F BN materials [38]. Then, the SSA and pore size distribution of the as synthesized
BN products were determined by nitrogen

Mature Themes in The Dark Knight Essay examples
In a movie where good and evil are divided by a very thin line, the Dark Knight rises up to fight
against injustice and corruption in Gotham City. An action sequel to the original Batman Begins, this
installment is a lot darker filled with more explosion, twists, and suspense. For the first time, a comic
has been integrated into the issues of the real world. With the help of District Attorney Harvey Dent
and Lieutenant Gordon, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining mob members and clean the
streets of Gotham for good. Their success is only short lived when they encounter the Joker, a
mysterious mastermind who is out to prove that nobility cannot hold in a world of anarchy. From the
beginning, Batman continues with his war on crime. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nolan creates an atmosphere where one scene will move steadily to the next, building anticipation
until all hell breaks loose. Nolan has really done his research with this film as he explores a deeper
meaning in good vs. evil. It makes the film seem so real life unlike most fantasy superhero movie. For
some reason, the viewer can actually imagine this happening in real life. The lights and effects are
very promising. Christian Bale returns to play the billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne and his alter ego
Batman. His role in this movie is much more in depth than his first one. His first role seemed to be
more at a superficial level and not often did he have to fight within himself. His adversary, the Joker is
played by Heath Ledger who he would clashed with throughout the movie. A role that defined Ledger
s career, he makes the original Joker played by Jack Nicholson, look like child s play. Michael Caine
returns to play the loyal and always dependable Alfred the Butler. Katie Holmes has been replaced by
Maggie Gyllenhall to play Rachael Dawes. Gyllenhall connects with the character much better than
Holmes ever did. It seemed very natural for Gyllenhall unlike Holmes who awkwardly seemed out of
place. District Attorney Harvey Dent is played by Aaron Eckhart, and Gary Oldman plays Lieutenant
Jim Gordon. The opening scene starts off with five small time criminals working under the devious
mastermind that is the Joker. The dark,

The Uniform Crime Records And The Federal Bureau Of The...
In the late 1920s, the Committee on Uniform Crime Records was established by the International
Association of the Chiefs of Police (IACP). The goal of the Committee was to develop a systematic
way to measure crime in the United States. The Committee collaborated and decided to focus on seven
(7) specific crime areas which they felt were the most known crimes and the most likely to be
reported. These crimes were: burglary, robbery, larceny theft, rape, auto theft, murder and aggravated
assault (James Rishard, 2008).
The IACP developed their own definitions of these crimes to ensure uniformity of reporting the data
collected. This information and definitions were published in 1929 in the Uniform Crime Reporting
Manual. The first report of data collected was published later that same year and was amassed from
400 cities across the 48 contiguous United States, as well as the territories of Alaska, Hawaii, and
Puerto Rico. This report became known as the Uniform Crime Report (UCR). The following year, in
1930, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) was tapped to control the crime data collected for the
UCR (James Rishard, 2008).
Since 1930, there have been a few modifications made to the UCR. The FBI began recording the age,
sex and race of those arrested as well as increasing the known crimes reported to law enforcement
from seven (7) categories to eight (8) categories by adding the category of arson (James Rishard,
2008).

The Discovery Of A Stranger s Personal Space
Proximity can be defined as nearness in space, time, or relationship. There are many terms and or
phrases used to describe proximity such as personal space, soul space, bubble, comfort zone, too close
for comfort, grill, invasion of privacy, etc. In this assignment we were asked to invade a stranger s
personal space and record their reaction to this event. I went to a neighborhood Starbucks and
proceeded to invade the personal space of a stranger sitting at a table with his laptop. I also tried
talking within close proximity of someone just to see their reaction, but the results of the Starbucks
experiment brought about greater output. After church on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 2:16pm I
walked into the Starbucks located at 1830 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL 33432. I walked up to the
counter and ordered a triple shot of espresso with 3 raw sugars, and a tall cup of ice with splash of soy
milk. Once I received my order I walked to the condiments table near the door and began to mix my
drink. I stirred the sugar into the espresso and then poured it over the cup of iced soy milk. There was
a man who appeared to be of Caucasian decent sitting alone at one of the tables, he was on his laptop
with his cup next to him and a notebook. He was so wrapped up in his work that he didn t even notice
me walking up. I pulled out the chair next to him and sat down. Prior to myself sitting down I
privately hypothesized that it would take this man a couple seconds to realize what was going

Crime And The Broken Window Theory
At one point, crime in America grew 13 times faster than population. Between 1965 and 1980s, crimes
in every category rose to a record high in New York. Burglary related crimes rose from 183,443 to
360,925. Larceny theft rose from 253,353 to 535. Vehicle theft rose from 58,452 to 171,007. Assault
rose from 27,464 to 91,571. Murder rose from 836 to 2,228. However, during the 1990s, crime in New
York crime tipped. Crime fell to a record low. Murder rates, burglary, larceny theft, vehicle theft,
assault, and rape all fell suddenly. Homicide rates plunged 43 percent reaching the lowest levels in 35
years. The crack epidemic along with the election of a new governor both contributed to the drop in
crime not the broken window theory . Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the 1990s, misdemeanor arrests increased 70 percent in New York City due to the
availability of more officers leading to the arrest of felons on lower level crimes (Francis). The broken
window theory did not show signs of correlation with the reduction of crime in New York City.
In addition, the increase in officers resulted in more random patrols, deterring crime in public places.
Criminals looking to commit crime had less time. Police officers arrived within seconds of a 9 1 1
phone call. Also, New York City police used precision to focus patrol resources on the times and
places with the highest risks of serious crime known as Compstat . With more police officers, patrol
presence was concentrated at the hot spots and hot times of criminal activity. As a result, the increase
in police between 1991 and 2001 accounted for a crime reduction of 5 6 percent (Levitt). Arrest rates
skyrocketed from 50 to 70 percent in the 1990s (Francis). The number of transit crimes dropped over
65% during the early 1990s showing that crime fell rapidly (Loop). Law enforcement officers were
pulling low level crooks out of rap clubs, bars and streets congesting the justice system but also
interrogating them for information that led to hundreds of arrests of more violent criminals involved in
gun trafficking, robbery and murder. Within the first 50 weeks of 1994,

Viability of Non-Nuclear Deterrence Strategies
Near the end of World War II, the United States (U.S.) atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
demonstrated that nuclear weapons can technically be used as a strategic imperative [1]. Nuclear
capability, thereafter, was much sought after by states as the basis for deterrence and thus fuelled the
nuclear arms race during the Cold War, especially between the U.S. and the Soviet Union [2].
However, several literatures [3] [4] [5] have debated that nuclear deterrence and utilisation of nuclear
weapons are morally and ethically unacceptable. Several others [6] [7] argued that nuclear capability
is not the be all and end all of deterrence. In addition, the existence of Nuclear Non proliferation
Treaty (NPT) measures, theoretically, makes it difficult for non nuclear states to acquire the
capabilities to produce nuclear weapons and to do so without being detected [8]. Hence, this essay
seeks to examine the viability of non nuclear deterrence strategies, particularly to address the question
Who are the potential adversaries of non nuclear states and what are the deterrence strategies that are
viable?
Setting the Context
The potential adversaries that non nuclear states may face will be generalised into three types for the
purpose of this discussion. These are nuclear state actors, non nuclear state actors, and non state actors
(NSAs). Nuclear state actors includes the five nuclear weapon states under the NPT, as well as the
three non NPT and one undeclared nuclear powers [9].

Christmas Music In Christmas
A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales gets a boost. It is
the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season.
However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be bad
for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols
makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and
organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported.
Kaching of Christmas
But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why
department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December
25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people
suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said.
Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves
several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery,
expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion.
If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the
energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the
Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else.

The Glass Castle Some Characters Seek Freedom From Society...
In The Glass Castle some characters seek freedom from society s rules while others seek the comforts
and security that come from a normal life. What is more important to children? Freedom or security? I
am convinced that what matters most to children is security. They may seek freedom but to them
freedom means running around. However, running around leads to chaos. Then chaos can lead to
danger and when children feel endangered or they ve fallen and got hurt they seek safety. Even if they
live in a stable or peaceful household they want to feel safe and secure and, especially children living
how Jeannette and her siblings did, want security.
There are millions of children all over the world who live in poverty and are unprotected from the
outside world that surrounds them. Most children who live in Bangladesh are in poverty and have
basic material needs that must be met in order to ensure child safety. But since those needs are not met
the child abandons their family and moves on doing drugs, committing crimes and living in the street.
This is exactly what happened to Maureen Walls in The Glass Castle. Her needs were scarcely met in
the Walls household so she spent a lot of time with other families and they practically took her up as
their surrogate daughter. In final consideration to this situation, by the end of the story we found out
that Maureen turned into a drug addict and smoker who hated her family, just like the children in
Bangladesh. Even Lori said so

London as a city is very colourful but as the weather in England is not the best with most days being
grey and dark which could turn potential events into a downpour. for a city to have lively atmosphere
makes tourists more eager to visit and feel good about living in a place and generates a positive
income, the city would have to carefully make a decision about the use of space with the atmosphere
and attractiveness would bring due to the fact that using the space sensibly would add value to
experiences by facilitating the act of coming together, responsibility and the sense of community,
identity and collective memory.
the animation of space can cause unsolicited and unplanned problems which need to be managed,
although a space without a flow of events may feel empty and unattractive. on the other hand, if the
flow of events becomes too fast those who inhabit the space may experience some stress. each
individual seek a different level of optimal stimulation in a given scenario. too much stimulation
creates stress and a search of reduced stimulation where as too little stimulation produces boredom

Marketing Research s Crucial Role in Helping Marriott...
Introduction
Apart from innovativeness and incisive management, Marketing Research has played a crucial role in
helping Marriot segment the market and successfully launch and develop its line of hotels. Marketing
research has been a significant backbone for the success of Marriott. Therefore, marketing research is
an important requisite for Marriott to keep track of their changing consumer and business customer
needs, to identify new opportunities in the hospitality service sector, to further develop and
differentiate its various brands, and to develop strong brand equity. Through marketing research,
Marriott has scaled magnificent heights of operational success.

Although price is a pertinent perspective in decision making, non business travellers also focus on
standards of quality on offer (Belk, p. 86). For instance, most non business travellers emphasize on the
quality of hospitality services such as privacy and safety.
Without qualitative research, it would have been extremely difficult for Marriot to investigate these
perspectives. It is also vital to note that qualitative research has been the leading light in helping this
firm evaluate the different gains and shortcomings of focusing on the non business travellers.
Consequently, this has strengthened the company s framework for market expansion. Qualitative
research has also been essential in establishing the most appropriate marketing strategies for the firm
in the USA (Morrison, p. 75). In the modern business environment, advertising strategies are
extremely pivotal towards the determining a firm s overall performance (Hospitality net, 2013).
Marriott has been evaluated based on amenities like convenience, comfort, services, price and quality,
as each of the six amenities represents an exemplary platform for streamlining the standards of
performance for Marriott. Quality is a sensitive attribute towards determining the choice of hotels by
prospective clients. On the other hand, the price segment would focus on an evaluation of the different
pricing mechanisms that would maximize upon

  • 2. Medical Benefits Of Cloning In The United States Cloning is an up and coming medical breakthrough that will benefit the lives of everyone immensely. On the contrary, we as a nation may never be able to experience all of what cloning technology has to offer. The governments is planning on banning or limiting the use of cloning in the United States. Cloning can improve our means of society, and banning it will be putting the good of America on the back burner. The medical benefits of cloning have the potential to be the greatest breakthroughs in the field ever. There are so many it s hard to just put your finger on one. The power of cloning will allow people to be cured of diseases that have never been cured before. These diseases include Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s disease, diabetes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This gave many people suspicion that cloned animals aged prematurely. However, a daily anti inflammatory treatment resolved the clinical signs within a few months. While Dolly was continuing to get better, in January of 2001, Cedric, one of the cloned sheep, died. Cedric died of Sheep Pulmonary Adenomatosis, which is caused by a virus that induces tumors to grow in the lungs of affected animals. The virus is infectious and spread to other sheep by close contact. Scientist immediately removed Dolly from the pen even though there was a good chance she was already infected. Dolly did die of SPA after many, many months of the other sheep deaths. While this may seem like a negative, it is actually a common disease of regular conceived sheep. This long and effective research experiment showed many people in the science world that cloning animals has a very bright future.(The Roslin Institute) Dolly was a breakthrough in science. She showed us it is possible to clone from an adult cell. Don t be fooled, it no where near perfect, but nothing is truly perfect. Dolly gave us a base to learn and continue to improve on. Think about it, when scientist first discovered anesthesia, atomic energy, and recombinant DNA, they started with one successful experiment and continued to improve the means of it. They could have lead to deleterious application, but in turn it changed the entire world s way of living, just as cloning has the potential to do.( Di Berardino Marie ... • 3. Descartes Meditation 4 Essay By the start of Meditation Four Descartes has established the reliability of his clear and distinct criterion of knowledge, and he has concluded that he exists as an essentially thinking thing and that the idea of an infinite, perfect being entails God s existence. Descartes has also eliminated concern about being systematically deceived, since acting in such a way would be indicative of some deficiency rather than the exercise of some power, and God is perfect. This generates further questions, as humans do regularly judge falsely, even without the meddling of a malicious, deceptive being (99). Given God s nature, attributing error to him is unacceptable, but, conversely, how could humans be blamed for the faulty faculty of judgement that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Descartes begins by distinguishing the real and positive idea of God from the opposite negative idea of nothingness, placing himself in the middle of this spectrum (99). He is finite and imperfect but, as God s creation, his nature contains nothing which itself facilitates mistakes. Since he exists between God and nothingness, however, he also participate[s] in nothingness or non being (99 100). Errors of judgement, then, must stem from nothingness, the absolute absence of all perfection. Mistakes are not things resulting from an error making faculty dependent on God, but instead lackings of a limited, fallible faculty of judgement. This answer, Descartes admits, does not fully address the problem, since a lacking is not a pure negation and implies that something which ought to be present is missing. Could God have failed to grant some perfection that we should possess? Descartes contrasts his own weak and limited nature with God s immense, incomprehensible and infinite nature, deeming that God s reasoning is beyond the scope of his understanding and that, feasibly, a world with errors is best when examined in its entirety ... • 4. The Importance Of Soil And Evaluation Of Taxonomic Evidence Introduction Using an object centred approach this narrative will attempt to go beyond the subject s simple classification of a red figured Stamnos (The British Museum, n.d) . Analysis of function, status and meaning of this Stamnos provide evidence of how it has changed over time. This is further achieved by examining the production, consumption and afterlife of Attic pottery (Hughes et al., 2014, p.60) . Production To begin, an intrinsic measure of soil and evaluation of taxonomic evidence identifies this Stamnos as between 450BC 440BC of Athenian provenance. Raw material excavated from a clay bed then transported to the Kerameikos (Wiley Online Library, 2012) became divided into component quantities. For decoration a portion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Attic vases gained their distinctive red and black colours from this method of firing, presenting a genre known as red figure painting (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . Consequently, in black figure painting the colours are reversed. Often, the addition of White paint distinguished females, who were otherwise underrepresented in often misogynistic evidence from ancient Greek literature. Consumption Meanwhile, assiduous ethnography (Harrison et al., 2014, p.14) provides evidence of the consumption habits of Ancient Greeks. High end pottery, designed to promote the owners status, included the addition of precious metals. Society s elite paradigm of leisure included boisterous drinking games (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . This Stamnos functioned as a vessel for mixing wine enjoyed by heavy drinking Greeks who seldom enjoyed their wine neat . The average Ancient Greek pursuing a life of temperance regarded Attic pottery as affordable, functional, multipurpose containers for everyday domestic use (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . Proclivities towards Attic pottery, particularly through marriage and funeral ceremonies (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) maintained the Ancient Greek s piety. Mythical narratives within Attic pottery appealed greatly not only to modern collectors but to Romans and Etruscans before them. An example of this appears on this Stamnos, in the form of the iconography upon the warrior s shield. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Great Chilean Earthquake On Chile Earthquakes throughout the world have devastated certain areas of the world, some places more than others. One area of the world that has been absolutely devastated by many earthquakes throughout time is the South American country, Chile. While there have been many very substantial earthquakes in Chile, one stands out most, The Great Chilean Earthquake. On May 22, 1960, The Great Chilean Earthquake hit Chile. This is the largest earthquake ever recorded with a magnitude of 9.5 out of 10.0. It absolutely traumatized the country of Chile and surrounding areas. Just the earthquake itself wasn t the only thing doing damage, the quake caused monstrous tsunamis across the coast of Chile and it even caused tsunamis in Hawaii, Japan, and the Philippines. For an earthquake to not only cause mass destruction to the area of the quake, but to strongly affect other places, just goes to show how powerful The Great Chilean Earthquake was. Not only has Chile have to deal with this great earthquake, Chile has been hit with almost 30 8.0 earthquake throughout time that we know of. Chile also has 2 of the top 10 biggest earthquakes ever recorded. The Great Chilean Earthquake and the the amount of big earthquakes Chile has to deal with, definitely affects how the Chilean people live everyday, they have to live in fear that the next Big One could devastate their country again. • 6. How to Tell a True War Story Essays War can be defined as an active struggle between competing entities. It s truly hard to tell who is right or wrong during a war. Both sides are fighting for what they believe in and what is true to their heart. In the end there is always two things promised destruction and death. These two objects can explain the result in every facet of war from the physical to emotional. In How to Tell a True War Story O Brien explores the relationship between the events during a war and the art of telling those events. This is similar to what happened to Krebs in Hemingway s Soldier s Home . Krebs has returned home to find that it is not that everybody and the world around him has changed, but he was the one that had changed. He has fought in some of the worst wars there were and he didn t want to come back home. Krebs dreaded coming back to the states, and would have preferred to stay overseas. Krebs was once used to a normal life. He went to a Christian school and was a part of a fraternity. His perception on life had changed drastically after enlisting in the military and fighting in a war. When he returned home, the girls that he saw on the street were the same as when he was there years ago. His father still parks his car in the same spot day in and day out. His mother tries to encourage him to get a job, but he doesn t care. He was so accustomed to the repetition of a soldier s life. He couldn t adjust to the typical lifestyle that other soldiers made. Somehow you can see the struggle he is going through. After the physical war, there was a war going on internally. Krebs had lost his emotion and will to care. The horror he experienced actually seeing first hand life and death situations were incomprehensible to his parents. There was no way they would be able to identify with him. Life in the small country of Ghana, West Africa, has not improved greatly for its people over the last 50 years. Though the country is still one of the top producers of gold and oil, its per capita income has barely increased, even after fifty years. This is due to Ghana s dependence on foreign trade and international assistance. Much of the people are under the poverty level, and the majority of the country s workforce is through agricultural privately owned land. For the African parents who live here, it is still very difficult to raise their children, and provide for them. Because the average family in Ghana still has about four children per household, the country cannot keep the growing population fed. His search is not entirely comparable with the GEMMA ones, because it refers to different times, contexts, and media, but the majority of the detected representations has more than one point of contact with the survey of the Canadian sociologist. In particular, the Goffman s role function, ie the association between masculinity and positions of power and femininity and secondary tasks, often related to the of the f home keeping and the care of the family, is also found in most of our sample, populated by many housewives and few female workers. • 9. How Did The North American Colonists Have Taxes Justified North American colonists chose to revolt against the king to get rid of unfair taxes and unjust treatment of its citizens. When the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights were made, the developers made sure that there was taxation with representation, and no cruel and unusual punishment. Every time there is a war, money must be raised to maintain it. However, unlike the king, taxes were made without proper reason and proof made it harder for colonists to understand why the king s actions were justified. During the Stamp Act of 1765, Britian declared that all documents (newspapers, books, court documents, etc.) must be stamp and that a stamp purchase must be required to help finance the stationing of British troops throughout North America.1 American colonists were not recognized in the House of Commons, and claimed that Britain had no reason to impose taxes solely based on making profit on regulating trade.2 The colonists allegiance was still to Britain, but they later decide to boycott the act due to the invalid response made by Parliament. The Townshead Acts of 1767 allowed exports to be taxed and a creation of a board of customs commissioners to prevent any further smuggling of goods.3 This act was later repealed a ... PROPOSAL FOR CLOUD TECHNOLOGY IN BANKING SYSTEM As the bank businesses grow rapidly, the amount of information and data in bank grow in multiplicative nonrepresentational times. This demand high data storage capacity and reliability. Presently, most commercial grade banks majorly adopt two types of storage applications namely NAS (Network Attached Storage) and SNA (Storage Area Network). NAS always uses the same network as applications use, which can easily cause final congestion and on the other hand, SNA uses physical infrastructure that are too expensive for banks to spend[10]. These two applications are stated in cloud computing technology. NAS application is a kind of distributed file system and uses the networks, just like Google File System (GFS) while SNA application separates storage devices from networks, and uses enterprise itself. The one time directs at private cloud, and the second directs at public cloud. These two applications are both adopted in building clustered systems. Cloud storage structure consists of five subsystems, covering Client Agent (CA), Cloud Management System (CMS), Object Storage Node (OSN), Integrated Storage Management (ISM) and Metadata Server (MDS). • 11. Street Daylight Kevin Peterson Analysis Kevin Peterson is a Houston based figurative painter. He has done many works of graffiti art such as Into the Light, Rooster Brand, Cold, Angel, and Street Light. The urban environment plays a huge roll in his provoking visual subject matter. He prefers to set children against a backdrop of harsh streets and graffiti covered surroundings. The painter claims his inspiration leaps from this juxtaposition, the purity and innocence that the youth present contrasted with the weathered and decayed areas of the metropolis. In Peterson s moving works, there is a contrast that suffices as both a metaphor and a recurring composition. Likewise, Muslims view Abraham as the Father of the Arab people as well as the Jewish people through his two sons, Isaac and Ishmael. Christians view Abraham as the prototype of all believers, the Father of the Covenant and the Father of Isaac and Ishmael. Sacred traditions are treated with both celebration and seriousness in the monotheistic religions. Just as God instructed Abraham 4000 years ago, a sacred Jewish ritual would be the circumcision of all baby boys when they reach eight days of age. Another ritual is when families gather to welcome the Holy day of the Sabbath. For a Jewish person, their religion is very much dedicating their lives to God, where their whole life becomes an act of worship. Most children answer with abnormal abilities such as flying or invisibility. In its most innocent way power is inherent we think of it as an ability. However as most children grow up they learn that power isn t always on the good guys side. Power is defined as what enables one person to control the behaviors of others . Power turns into a struggle from teacher to student, parents to children, and any other relationship we possess. Children for example need guidance and protection, therefore being a perfect example of the power dynamic legitimate power. Legitimate power can be found within our culture and society from our education system to our own respective family lives. Although many situations are different there is likely someone seen in a position of power based off nothing more than their position in your life. This can be seen in the movie crash where the little girl (Lara) believes and inherently trusts her father (Danial). He has a right of power based on the fact he s her father which allows a level of trust, and feeling of safety for the little girl. Furthermore legitimate power can also be found in work place environments where employer and employee relationship are in continuous power struggles. As Bent Greve point out in What is Welfare, the word welfare comes from wel fare, it is from well in its still familiar sense and fare, primarily understood as a journey or arrival but later also as a supply of food (Williams 1976, 281), and has historically been related to happiness and prosperity, where as its current understanding first emerged in the 20th century(51). Modern social welfare mainly means government redistribute the whole social fortune in order to help the vulnerable groups by establishing revelant law. So the goal of social welfare is obviously to help the vulnerable groups which includes the poor. As the opinion in Goal of Social Welfare, the goal of social welfare is to fulfill the social, health, and recreational requirements of all individuals in a society (Goal). The social welfare can narrow the rich poor gap by redistributing the social fortune, on the contrary, the unsound social welfare will not work and even widen the rich poor gap. A character of unsound social welfare is that it can not redistribute social fortune effectively. For example, if the strength of a unsound welfare system is not enough, it will not really redistribute whole social fortune. The poor still can not get enough help from the society. Another character of a unsound social welfare system is that it can not really change the poor s situations with the limited money. Some countries are developing countries, the money spend ... • 18. Factors That Empower And Constrain Mncs Essay The mounting standing of multinational corporations (MNCs) in today s global economy has held some interest from international organizations, national government agencies and local citizens (Yang Huang 2011: 3). MNCs have risen to prominence through mergers, procurement and setting up new enterprises, and they have operated businesses throughout the world (Yang Huang 2011: 3). They mobilize resources, develop vertical and horizontal production networks and penetrate all kinds of markets across borders (Yang Huang 2011: 3). These acts have changed the operations of a national economy as well as the relationships among them (Yang Huang 2011: 3). In this essay, I will seek to evaluate the factors that empower and constrain MNCs, and thus forge and communicate the understanding of whether their structural power has been on the incline or on the decline. To begin with, the research took the direction of understanding of what a multinational corporation is defined as and its scope and advantage. Peter Dicken s (2008) chapter on Transnational Corporations: The Primary Movers and Shapers of the Global Economy was insightful in understanding that a transnational corporation is a firm that has the power to coordinate and control operations in more than one country, even if it does not own them (Dicken 2008: 106). In Dicken s view, the transnational corporation has grown into the perception of being the main shaper of the present day global economy and a chief danger to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Synthesis Of Polyethylene Lab Report Introduction In the modern world, it is near impossible to live in an environment where one is not exposed and reliant upon the use of polymers. From credit cards to nappies; plastic bottles to prescription glasses, the applications of polymers encompass an endless range of everyday necessities. However, the significance of synthetic polymers was not universally recognised until its initial introduction as polyethylene during World War II. During the combat, they served as a critical material for insulated radar electronics (ACC, 2005). The basic principles of polymers originate from organic chemistry. Organic chemistry is the field of science associated with the structure, properties, and reactions of compounds that contain carbon. The simplest organic compounds are hydrocarbons, consisting of carbon and hydrogen atoms joined together by molecular covalent bonds. Within this category is a subdivision of saturated hydrocarbons with double covalent bonds, specifically identified as alkenes. The presence of a double bond allows alkenes to react in ways similar to that of a monomer. A monomer is a small, singular molecule which, through chemical means, may combine to form a larger molecule (See Fig 1). • 20. A Brief Biogarphy of Edgar Hoover A hero is born in turbulent days. When President Herbert was first elected as the U.S president, the whole country enjoyed the time of prosperity. During the time, Herbert was considered an idol of ordinary people; he was raised from poor Iowa orphan to one of the most celebrated mining engineers. Even though there were murmurs worrying about that he had never held an elected public office, had a poor political touch, and was too thin skinned to be an effective politician, most Americans considered him a hero who is able to solve any problems ahead. There was no better person to lead the country. However, in months later he was unfortunately faced the problem of the decade, which now called as the Great Depression. In early days of the time, people did not worry too seriously about the economic situation, because they had Hoover as president in the White House. He was absolutely the last fortress of the people. However, the impregnable fortress was destroyed by the power of the Great Depression, and he could not lead as he wanted to do. He was not the Hero that the people awaited for. The author describes of Hoover s childhood as the continuing infelicity. He lost his parents in his early age and had to motivate himself to have a better tomorrow out of working harder today. A satire is a piece of work that is designed to ridicule or tease a group or organization, generally for the purpose of being humorous. The Importance of Being Earnest, a play by Oscar Wilde, is a satire, ridiculing class, gender, and marriage. This essay will describe some points from each of these sections, as well as give a brief synopsis of the play these examples come from. The Importance of being Earnest includes three acts, with seven major characters. In act one, we start with a conversation between Jack (a notable bachelor) and Algernon (an in debt bachelor, with a laid back temperament), in which we learn both have made up friends, who are often sick, as to escape from wherever they live whenever they want. In the end, despite several lies, arguments, and much turmoil, everybody gets married. There are many examples of satire referring to class. One of the first is the fact that the side of the street you live on affects how fashionable you are. This is an example of satire because it is not true, and is ridiculing high class people by pointing out how shallow that they can be. Another example is the statement that sugar is a low class food item. This is a satire for the same reason as the first example. A third example of class related satire is that high class people always talk about other peoples business. This ridicules high class people for being churlish and not allowing for other peoples privacy. In all, Earnest points out how snobbish and shallow Mr. Wilde thought high class people are. There are also many examples of gender based satire. The first of these is that only men can have a Bunburry. This is not true and shows that men think themselves more sophisticated than women. A second example of this type of satire is that women marry for a name. This is a satire because it ridicules women for being shallow. A final example of gender related satire is that women are ... • 23. The Effect Of Creativity On The Classroom The following section of this paper will be a critical discussion about the materials Elliott discussed in the chapter. Overall I really enjoyed Elliott s arguments about creativity, I found it very easy to read and helped open my eyes on the use of creativity in the classroom. The creative philosophy that Elliott outlines in this chapter was incredibly helpful. I have always thought of the creative aspect in a classroom as being a compositional project, or improvisation and Elliott s disapproval of that thought process has cleared some questions I had. There are so many possibilities to involve creativity in the classroom now, such as with performance, composition, improvisation, listening assignments and more. I am very excited to get out there and try some new lessons out for myself. Furthermore, the curriculum tends to feel too broad yet too limited at the exact same time when it comes to creativity. There are four components in the curriculum and they often seem very segregated. Even in some of our classes it has always been, write a lesson plan for one of the wings . I really like this idea of Elliott s to always involve creativity because then it combines the wings. Creativity can take place alongside performance, historical context or critical evaluation. It is our job as teachers to stop segregating these wings so that everything is not so blocked off. Taking a step back, what would have been great in this chapter is if Elliott went into further detail of how to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Proposal How Human Resource Policies Influence the Performance of Medium Sized Manufacturing Firms Name: Instructor: Institution: Course: Date: How Human Resource Policies Influence the Performance of Medium Sized Manufacturing Firms 1. Introduction Globalization has created a paradigm shift in the ways by which firms conduct their business. The convergence of world economies has minimized and in some cases eliminated both legislative and geographical barriers to international production and sale of goods and services. The flip side of this process is the increased competition for world markets created especially by the threat of multinational firms to local firms (Garry Litan, 1998). Local firms must find ways to compete and survive the threat of take over and crowding out of the market by multinational producers who enjoy favorable economies of scale. This is effectively achieved by ways of in themselves creating this very economy of scale; expanding business operations helps them lower the marginal cost of production allowing them to therefore provide a favorable pricing policy within the market. In achieving the aforementioned, firms must build up capacity. The attention of managers and researchers alike has been commonly directed towards assets in the sense of physical (fixed and current) and monetary assets (optimal capital structure) of the firm in achieving this objective. Though I enjoy skating, the point of meeting at the high school was so that no one had to see our novice attempts at it. After five minutes of failing to get the board to leave the ground with me remaining on it, Raith and Mea cross the road just in time to witness my pitiful endeavor. We spent most of the morning cruising on our boards and sitting, drinking various sodas we had brought, and chatting. So we collectively decided to head down to the skate park because it was close, had a bathroom, and sounded like it could be fun. Little did we know how much trouble would come from this little trip. We arrive at the skate park to find that, surprisingly, no one is there. I make my way to the bathroom, as well does the rest of the group. Assessing the Potential Contributions of Information Aggregation and Knowledge Brokering To Improve Business Process Performance Introduction The depth and value of tacit knowledge an organization has within its own structure and surrounding ecosystem is significant and potentially transformative in its value. Combined with the explicit knowledge organizations possess, which according to empirically derived studies, is just 30% of total knowledge captured (Wilhelm, Kohlbacher, 2011), organizations have latent potential to improve processes yet are not capturing it. The role of Information Aggregation Mechanisms (IAM) (Chen, Plott, 2002), prediction markets and methodologies (Dye, 2008), and the potential to transform businesses processes with this collective intelligence (Billington, Davidson, 2010) is the focus of this analysis. Insights gained from the literature review leading up to this study indicate that a more precise form of crowdsourcing is emerging gaining insights into recurring and predictive oriented events (Dye, 2008). The emergence of hidden profiles or concentrated groups of experts who have the majority of tacit knowledge an organization requires to innovate are starting to emerge in the work retailer BestBuy is doing for example (Dye, 2008). Identification Of Unknown Amino Acid Identification of Unknown Amino Acid Measurements of Buffer Capacity Student #: 998493250 Authors: Young, Lee Melissa Abstract The titration curve of the unknown exhibited many characteristics, such as equivalence points, pKa of ionizable groups, isoelectric point, and buffer regions, that are particularly distinct to lysine. For unclear reasons, the pH during the titration did not reach the pH for pure 0.2 M NaOH nor 0.2 M HCl and normal equivalence points expected at two extreme ends of the titration curves for all amino acids were not observed. The titration of a phosphate buffer showed that the buffer capacity is directly proportional to the molarity of the buffer. However, our results showed that although the initial pH of the phosphate buffer was less than the pKa value, the measured buffer capacity was higher towards acid than base. The accuracy of the pH meter and calibration process was questioned under assumptions that the pH of the prepared phosphate buffer was actually above pKa. Introduction The hydrogen ion (H+) concentration is extremely important to living organisms. Even small changes in H+ ¬¬ion concentration can cause serious consequences to the structural and functional integrity of molecules. Consequently, it is important to regulate the pH within strict limits so that important biochemical processes of living systems can proceed normally. My professor of English Dr. John Burkett instilled this into the class as we studied the Psalms. This sets the stage when actively reading, the reader is engulfed by the text and is then alongside with the psalmist: in feeling, emotion and even to the landscape where the psalmist is. Thus, actively reading motivates the reader to clearly understand the meaning of the text that is read. The word is described in the Dictionary of hermeneutics by Dr. James D. Hernando reads: Meaning is a word used differently by scholars in their various approaches to interpretation . David writes the Psalms for the reader to understand the fuller meaning as in the Sensus plenior . However David uses figurative language he is writing with the readers in mind. Figurative language refers to all uses of words that are metaphorical or symbolic in nature, conveying a meaning different from their common, literal sense. An example of David s figurative language is You have kept count of my tossing s; put my tears in Your bottle; are they not in Your book (Ps. 56:8 ESV)? The bottle is a figurative meaning of God remembering all his tears. • 37. Overfishing In South Africa Overfishing has become a devastating reality and priority concern to our Oceans in South Africa, as well on a global scale. The interest of overfishing, is to eradicate hunger issues in developing countries all over the world, as well as to create a vast improvement of job opportunities, however due to our unsustainable fishing practices, it is just a matter of time before our oceans are completely depleted of marine species, and the destruction of the aquatic ecosystem. This issue will resort to irreparable socio economic and environmental circumstances that will be of severe consequence if we do not alter our local and international commercial fishing operations. Due to overfishing throughout the continents, South African waters has become a viable target for international role players to maintain the demand of fishing operations and fish stocks that is required for global markets. Due to inadequately monitored fishing operations, overfishing has left South Africa with a significant shortage of food resources for the poor, who depend on fish as their staple diet. According to the World Wildlife Fund, Seafood is the largest traded food commodity in the world. Approximately three billion people worldwide rely on seafood as their primary source of protein. As the world tries to meet that demand, 55 percent of the world s fisheries are fished to their maximum sustainable yield, while 30 percent have been pushed beyond their biological limits. Many Baby Boomers are still working with Obama Care, they are working to pay for Affordable Health Care costs and prescriptions. With the Baby Boomers about to leave the workforce, there are steps that an organization must take to keep the baton of knowledge from leaving with them. First is to assess the training needs; second, set up a budget to meet the needs; third, choose between Traditional or Technology based method to deliver the required training. First, an organization must assess their training needs to set up a training program that s effective and foundational. A training needs assessment is used to determine whether training is the right solution to a workplace problem (Cekada, 2010, p. 28). Data must be gathered continually to determine what training needs must be met and develop a plan to accomplish the organization s objectives because training program is a costly expense for employers. • 39. The Pros And Cons Of High School Students One of the problems teachers in America fear with students is whether they should have a job. Most students, in their junior and senior year of high school, have part time jobs. However, junior year and senior year claims to be the busiest years of a high school student. So particularly, teachers feel as if students shouldn t work too much or they shouldn t work at all being that they may overwork themselves or not stay focus on school. Students should have the benefit of working through high school if it s going to be beneficial later in life or college even if they have to go through some setbacks or lessons learned. Getting a job in high school and having a résumé, it won t actually be too many jobs on the list so in that case, it s not going to exactly qualify as genuine work involvement. Most teens would most likely be working at fast food restaurants, cashiers, babysitters, and etc. There are a few jobs that won t have a high pay, but it ll be enough just for a high school student working. Having time management is very import in today s generation. Being a high school student and having a job at the same time will definitely be beneficial for future references. It teaches them how boost their self esteem, credit hours, and be responsible like an adult. Time management is basically what takes over being a high school student. It s the most important idea in high school. Learning how to manage more than one thing at a time will only be helpful for when the student is about to start their college life. It s like the student is starting ahead of time while they re in high school so they can know what to expect in college. In high school and having a job could be less more difficult than having a job in college. In college, you re going to deal with more credit hours, more duties and have more life experiences. • 40. The Correlation Bonding And Chemical Properties Of The As... The nature and interlayer interactions of the as synthesized BN materials were also characterized by Raman spectroscopy (Figure 4b). The Raman spectra of the T BN and F BN show specific peaks at ∼1371 and ∼1369 cm−1, respectively, corresponding to the B N vibration mode (E2g). The full width at half maximum (FWHM) was determined to be ∼35 and ∼24 cm−1 for T BN and F BN, respectively. The larger FWHM value and higher wavelength demonstrated a low crystalline structure along with the low interlayer interactions at T BN as compared to that of F BN [32 34]. The intermolecular bonding and chemical properties of the as synthesized BN were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy (Figure 4c). The FTIR analysis of T BN shows two strong absorption peaks at ∼1382 and ∼790 cm−1, ascribed to the in plane B N transverse stretching vibration and the B N B out of plane bending vibration, respectively [35 37]. The broad absorption peaks at ∼3415 and ∼3227 cm−1 indicate the presence of residual B−OH and B−NH2 groups, respectively. The same FTIR results are also observed for F BN. However, the higher intensity of the IR peaks of F BN as compared to that of T BN indicates the existence of stronger interlayer interaction because of the presence of more number of amino functional groups at the F BN surface, strongly reducing the porosity and decreasing the surface area of the F BN materials [38]. Then, the SSA and pore size distribution of the as synthesized BN products were determined by nitrogen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The Uniform Crime Records And The Federal Bureau Of The... In the late 1920s, the Committee on Uniform Crime Records was established by the International Association of the Chiefs of Police (IACP). The goal of the Committee was to develop a systematic way to measure crime in the United States. The Committee collaborated and decided to focus on seven (7) specific crime areas which they felt were the most known crimes and the most likely to be reported. These crimes were: burglary, robbery, larceny theft, rape, auto theft, murder and aggravated assault (James Rishard, 2008). The IACP developed their own definitions of these crimes to ensure uniformity of reporting the data collected. This information and definitions were published in 1929 in the Uniform Crime Reporting Manual. The first report of data collected was published later that same year and was amassed from 400 cities across the 48 contiguous United States, as well as the territories of Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. This report became known as the Uniform Crime Report (UCR). The following year, in 1930, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) was tapped to control the crime data collected for the UCR (James Rishard, 2008). Since 1930, there have been a few modifications made to the UCR. The FBI began recording the age, sex and race of those arrested as well as increasing the known crimes reported to law enforcement from seven (7) categories to eight (8) categories by adding the category of arson (James Rishard, 2008). There are many terms and or phrases used to describe proximity such as personal space, soul space, bubble, comfort zone, too close for comfort, grill, invasion of privacy, etc. In this assignment we were asked to invade a stranger s personal space and record their reaction to this event. I went to a neighborhood Starbucks and proceeded to invade the personal space of a stranger sitting at a table with his laptop. I also tried talking within close proximity of someone just to see their reaction, but the results of the Starbucks experiment brought about greater output. After church on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 2:16pm I walked into the Starbucks located at 1830 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL 33432. I walked up to the counter and ordered a triple shot of espresso with 3 raw sugars, and a tall cup of ice with splash of soy milk. The broken window theory did not show signs of correlation with the reduction of crime in New York City. In addition, the increase in officers resulted in more random patrols, deterring crime in public places. Criminals looking to commit crime had less time. Police officers arrived within seconds of a 9 1 1 phone call. Also, New York City police used precision to focus patrol resources on the times and places with the highest risks of serious crime known as Compstat . With more police officers, patrol presence was concentrated at the hot spots and hot times of criminal activity. As a result, the increase in police between 1991 and 2001 accounted for a crime reduction of 5 6 percent (Levitt). Arrest rates skyrocketed from 50 to 70 percent in the 1990s (Francis). • 46. Viability of Non-Nuclear Deterrence Strategies Near the end of World War II, the United States (U.S.) atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki demonstrated that nuclear weapons can technically be used as a strategic imperative [1]. Nuclear capability, thereafter, was much sought after by states as the basis for deterrence and thus fuelled the nuclear arms race during the Cold War, especially between the U.S. and the Soviet Union [2]. However, several literatures [3] [4] [5] have debated that nuclear deterrence and utilisation of nuclear weapons are morally and ethically unacceptable. Several others [6] [7] argued that nuclear capability is not the be all and end all of deterrence. In addition, the existence of Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty (NPT) measures, theoretically, makes it difficult for non nuclear states to acquire the capabilities to produce nuclear weapons and to do so without being detected [8]. Hence, this essay seeks to examine the viability of non nuclear deterrence strategies, particularly to address the question Who are the potential adversaries of non nuclear states and what are the deterrence strategies that are viable? Setting the Context The potential adversaries that non nuclear states may face will be generalised into three types for the purpose of this discussion. These are nuclear state actors, non nuclear state actors, and non state actors (NSAs). Nuclear state actors includes the five nuclear weapon states under the NPT, as well as the three non NPT and one undeclared nuclear powers [9]. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Christmas Music In Christmas A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales gets a boost. It is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season. However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported. Kaching of Christmas But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December 25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said. Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery, expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion. If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In The Glass Castle some characters seek freedom from society s rules while others seek the comforts and security that come from a normal life. What is more important to children? Freedom or security? I am convinced that what matters most to children is security. They may seek freedom but to them freedom means running around. However, running around leads to chaos. Then chaos can lead to danger and when children feel endangered or they ve fallen and got hurt they seek safety. Even if they live in a stable or peaceful household they want to feel safe and secure and, especially children living how Jeannette and her siblings did, want security. There are millions of children all over the world who live in poverty and are unprotected from the outside world that surrounds them. Most children who live in Bangladesh are in poverty and have basic material needs that must be met in order to ensure child safety. But since those needs are not met the child abandons their family and moves on doing drugs, committing crimes and living in the street. This is exactly what happened to Maureen Walls in The Glass Castle. Her needs were scarcely met in the Walls household so she spent a lot of time with other families and they practically took her up as their surrogate daughter. In final consideration to this situation, by the end of the story we found out that Maureen turned into a drug addict and smoker who hated her family, just like the children in Bangladesh.
