How Electricity Is Produced By Using Coal
These days, most of us tend to take electricity for granted. If one were to be asked where it comes
from, you would most likely get responses from all over, with a common response being, Out of the
sockets in the wall! In this paper I will be giving a very brief overview of how electricity is produced,
specifically from coal.
Generating electricity requires a fuel source, and the fuel source for both EKP and DP L is coal. About
60% of the electricity nationwide is produced by using coal. Coal arrives mainly by a barge, but also
by rail and truck. Barges typically deliver around 1,500 tons of coal, which is enough to keep a plant
running for a couple of hours. A plant uses around 21,000 tons of coal each day, so over 1,000,000
tons of coal is stockpiled next to the plant. A device called a stacker reclaimer scoops coal onto a
quarter mile long conveyor that can transport up to 900 tons of coal into the plant each hour. Once
inside the plant, up to a thirty hour supply of coal can be stored in bunkers. Coal moves from the
bunkers to feeders to be measured and moved to pulverizers. Coal enters the pulverizer and spins in a
large drum where hundreds of steel balls grind it into a fine powder. Now a fine powder, the coal
leaves the pulverizers and heads to the boiler. About 335 tons of coal can be pulverized per hour.
Large fans add warm air to the powdery coal and blow it into the boiler. The boiler has miles of tubes
filled with high quality water. Once

Target Market And Competitive Analysis Essay
Target market and competitive analysis
It specifies the person who are the main source of income or via whom the business is growing and
becoming successful. It means the customers who are likely to buy the product. One should consider
numerous steps while considering the target market for the products. It can be divided into following
categories:
Demographic: It specifies the gender, income and education. In this category the people who are well
educated and have knowledge about good and bad products come. In terms of our product, it is
launched in China so it will target the educated people of China who believe in quality and standard.
Furthermore, females love pets more as compare to men so the other approach will be to target the
women of China by giving the best quality and standard of pets food in China market. The good
influence on one woman will impact the other women of the society because this gender is the most
friendly and information provider gender because information from one woman to other woman
transfers very fast. Instead of this the Butch Pet food will target the high income people of China
because they love to keep the pets in their houses and farms so by giving promotions and good quality
the high income people will be targeted for sale in China.
Geographic: It means to target the people on the basis of region, city size and climate. The climate of
China is good for Pets so it is a advantage for the Butch company to sell the product over there

How Did The Black Church Influence The Civil Rights Movement
The black church did several things for the boycott. Some of those things are it put Martin Luther
King in the spot light of the civil rights movement. The church also help educate the black people on
their own situation. Some that attended the meetings in the black church were able to shed the fear
they had held for a long period of time.
Martin Luther King Jr. was not well known at the time of the boycott. He is only 26 years old and new
the area. He was asked by the other reverends to lead the boycott. He actually wasn t sure if he should
because he was new to the area, but that was one of the reasons the other Black reverends wanted to
him to lead it.
Another reason the church was such an influence on the boycott was because black people

A Research Study On Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology is the interdisciplinary science which strives to make processes or modular units
functional on a nanoscale dimension (1 x 10 9 metres) for scientific and industrial use (Hempelmann,
Natter, Wolff, 2014, pg. 8). This recent field of science first practised only 35 years ago, has redefined
modern science as it is today; through fields such as engineering, chemistry, physics and biology
(nano.gov, 2016). Uniquely, in comparison to other disciplines of science, nanotechnology is
particularly useful in solving modern day problems, which, sufficed to say, have only augmented to
that of major concern in the past 50 years. The most significant of these problems concern clean
renewable energy.
In non industrial and commercial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, due to sustainability, and the threat to the environment, use of such energy sources cannot
continue. This presents a serious problem, and, as such, the field of nanotechnology had been looked
to for a viable solution. Only in the last decade have studies, in the field of a unique material, truly
surfaced that presents a plausible answer to this dilemma; graphene.
Discussion
Macro vs. Nano
Graphene is essentially a visible (absorbing 2.3% of light), one atom thick hexagonal lattice of carbon
atoms (see Figure A), Earths best conductor of electricity, and a hardness 200 times stronger than steel
(University of Manchester, 2015). Now, it must be stated that graphene is simply one atom thick
graphite. However, in comparison, macro (graphite) and nano (graphene) are very different:
1.Structural orientation: although the two materials form an identical hexagonal lattice, graphite forms
its lattice in flakes, resulting in a soft, brittle surface, whereas graphene consists of 1.4 x 10 10 metre
long carbon bonds within a tightly back uniform lattice resulting in superior strength (La Fuente,
2015).
2.Conductivity: graphene has a higher conductivity than that of graphite (La Fuente, 2015). The
quintessential reason for graphenes high conductivity is due to several reasons: zero band gap (see
Figure B), the lack of surface resistance against delocalized (free) electrons, and its large surface area

Fight Club Symbolism
In the modern society masculinity is seen as consumism status and accumulating possessions that
dominates as a lifestyle. Both the flim and the novel differ drastically. This essay will prove that the

Chewing Gum Research Papers
Chewing gum helps your breath?
What do you know about chewing gum? How does chewing gum can help your breath? Many people
in the world have enjoyed the benefit of gum. Chewing gum is not just sweet only, but chewing gum
has many kinds of flavors, including spearmint, strawberry, blueberry, etc. People chewing gum for
different reasons, for instance, reduce their stress, makes their breath fresh, snacking, or other reason.
Also, chewing gum can help stimulate the production of saliva, another reason is you will gain a burst
of fresh breath right away. When it s been a while since you last brushed, and not so long since your
last meal, some people reach for a stick of gum to help improve their breath? No matter which flavors
of gum, every flavor can help your breath. I did an experiment by choosing three brands of gum such
as Trident, Extra, and Wrigley s. For my experiment, I surveyed 30 volunteers, a survey has 10

The result of my experiment showed that over 60 percent chose trident. People believed trident was
stronger than the other because Trident brand emphasized freshness and elimination of bacteria.
Moreover, people who chose trident started that chewing their gum had a cool feel more than sweet
taste this is reason why trident is stronger. While Wrigley s brand and extra brand emphasized with
fresh too, but both brand wanted to long lasting taste that s why both brands added sweeter than
trident. Another question on the survey was to find out which brand was sweeter. The participant over
50 percent chose Wrigley s brand and they believed sweeter taste makes more long lasting taste. In
contrast, trident is not long lasting taste because less sweet. This is a reason why trident is tasted

Essay about Consumer Appeal
Consumer Appeal
Advertisers of today have strategically combined commercials and television shows in order to sell
products. Gloria Steinem discusses a similar idea in her article, quot;Sex, Lies, and Advertising. quot;
She repeatedly demonstrates how advertisements, particularly in magazines, are complementary to the
articles around them. In the same manner, so are commercials to television programs.
They are both aimed at the same groups or types of people, such as sex, age, gender, etc.
Many times, the time of day or day of the week a show is aired has a lot to do with the types of
viewers the program will attract. Thus, the types of commercials will also differ. On ... Show more

This leaves a majority of the older crowds watching the program.
According to Gloria Steinem, the target of the television show will be the same as that of the
commercials. This proved to be true with quot;Profiler quot; and its commercials. There were a total
of twenty commercials aired. They included and Allstate Insurance ad, a number of car dealers and
promotions, chewing gum, beauty products, medicine, food, and television satellites. Most of them
had female voice overs with predominantly white actors and/or actresses. The actors and/or actresses
were also good looking, thin, and of high to medium status.
In Steinem s terms, and as mentioned by Cayo Gamber, an advertisement is generally linked to the
article, or in this case, the program. The show is seen as a quot;complementary copy quot; for the
commercials; because it included certain accessories to a person in the same life style as the characters
in the program.
The cars advertisements, in particular, were at times found in the show.
However, the other products weren t really enforced by the program. Above all, the program did help
maintain the intended target interested and tuned in to that specific channel.
The benefit of airing commercials at that specific time of

Gospel Is The Good News
The word gospel is derived from Old English meaning good news or glad tidings . The Greek word
euangelion which means good message is the the source for the word evangelist. 1.
Mark s Gospel, now considered the first of the synoptic gospels makes no delay in the identification of
who this man, Jesus, is. He is the Messiah, the anointed one, from the Greek word Christos. From the
very first verse of this Gospel, the evangelist knows and proclaims who Jesus is: the Messiah, the Son
of God. 2. Now this evangelist will, through his Gospel, begin a discourse which will allow all the
characters from the disciples to the centurion to realize that Surely, this was the Son of God. Mark 15:

Jesus authority to forgive sins is central to the good news. However, for Mark it is more than
forgiveness. John baptized with water, but the good news of Jesus coming is that he will baptize with
the Holy Spirit which is proclaimed by John the Baptist in verse 8. 7. When Jesus heals the paralyzed
man and then tells him that his sins are forgiven the teachers of the law are incredulous. This is part of
the good news. Jesus has the power to forgive sins however upsetting it is to the religious
establishment.
Mark 1:15 goes up to say to believe in the good news. Belief, faith, is the core of the good news. Mark
9:23 sums it best: Everything is possible for one who believes . Mark 11: 24; Therefore I tell you
whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours . Jesus also shows
the healing power of faith in Mark 2:5,34 and 10:52 as he heals the paralytic man and the woman who
touched his clothes wishing to be healed. He teaches us a valuable lesson in that it was their faith that
healed them which should be an example for us today.
Another motif which is sewn in the fabric of the good news is what William Loder calls the radical
inclusiveness of Jesus or simply put we are all part of God s kingdom . 8. He enlists fisherman, a tax
collector, and the open sharing of a meal

Recognizing Same-Sex Marriage Legally in the United States
Gay rights is a very popular issue in American politics that asks ask the question Should same sex
marriage be recognized legally. Some Americans support gay rights and believe all homosexuals
deserve the right of protection from discrimination. They do not believe marriage would devalued but
would allow homosexuals to have same benefits and security as heterosexual couples. Some of the
rights same sex marriages would be entitled to include: eligibility of health insurance through each
other s employers, visitation rights in hospitals and jails, and the right to sue over wrongful death of a
partner, right to refuse to testify against spouse in court, tax and Social Security benefits. Opponents
of the gay rights movement believe marriage is between one man and one woman. They believe it is a
wrong and unnatural act that devalues the institution of marriage. They believe marriage is meant to
foster two parent families that are the foundation of our society. Gay rights have been a controversial
issue for many years, but until recently there had not been any real progress in ensuring same sex
couples have the rights they deserve that are given to heterosexual couples and crushing the belief that
being who they are is wrong or shameful.

Immigration Protest
Introduction:
A day without immigrants protest was one that spread an ideal ology throughout businesses and labor
force. The goal of this protest was to unite as immigrants and show what kind of hit the economy and
labor force would take if immigrants weren t there to fuel it. This has taken place twice in recent
history, once on May 1, 2006 and recently on February 21, 2017. One could argue whether they are
successful in their efforts to show how important immigration is to the American economy.
Background studies:
Immigrants make up 12 percent of the population and more than 17 percent of the working population.
This means that based on population immigrants are more involved in the workforce than natives
themselves. With trump getting elected to Presidency, and his views on immigration control and it
being viewed as discrimination, one could say that he is just putting fuel on the flame. According to
Moriah Butler, Immigration protest are viewed by the general public in a disruptive manner with
people saying that there will never be a right time to protest (Butler 1.)
Jose Andres is a different case in many opinions. Andres owns a restaurant and for the protests he shut
down his business in order to show his employees that he cares about them. According to him he has
workers that have been with him for 25 or more years. He says that he owes it to them to show that he
cares because they have stuck with him in good and bad times, and have put in more

Feasibility Study
Phase 1: Research
Good research is the key to success in property development. We start out by arming ourselves with
all the information needed to determine which locations have the potential to make money or not.
In this phase we evaluate potential suburbs, neighbourhoods and sites, do a preliminary market study,
put together a preliminary budget, carry out a preliminary financial analysis, prepare a timing analysis
and review the political climate and the council approval process.
Here are the steps we will evaluate in detail during the course:
a) Become expert in at least one area probably starting with the suburb where you live.
b) Decide what kind of development suits your goals and capability.
c) Gather information from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this phase we finalise the acquisition of the site, get any required government approvals and
begin talks with builders and other professionals we will need for the construction of the project.
We will evaluate these pre construction steps later in the course:
a) Organise our finance
b) Secure the property by purchase or option
a) Engage an architect to produce your plans and DA.
b) Evaluate prospective builders and project managers
c) Submit a Development Application or other required documentation to Council
d) Revise and update our Feasibility study. (We will keep doing this throughout the project)
e) Organise Certification and Construction Certificate
f) Begin pre sales if applicable
Phase 4: Construction
This is one of the most exciting moments in the process. During this phase your development project
will finally become tangible.
While you may not be doing any of the actual construction work yourself, you will gain great
satisfaction seeing your hard work come to fruition.
In this part of the course we will examine these steps in detail:

Why Do We Study Our Times
Why did the authors do the study? We don t remember our past as accurately as we would like to
believe. It is impossible to remember every detail of our lives. Because of this serious revisions and
important distortions occur over time. We use self schemas to organize our personal history. Memories
become less accurate and increasingly coherent over the years. We rewrite our personal histories. We
aren t lying about our past we re just misremembering the way it fits with our schemas. This is why
Ross, McFarland, and Fletcher conducted this experiment. They wanted to shed some light on how
this came about. What did they do? There were 54 males and 47 females subjects recruited from the
University of Waterloo. The questionnaire on attitude was completed by thirty five subjects and 66
subjects completed the assessed behavior recall questionnaire. A pretest was conducted to select the
attitudes issues for the study. The subjects were exposed to a communication that was favorable or
unfavorable toward tooth brushing. The remaining subjects were exposed to a communication that
was favorable or unfavorable toward bathing. The subjects were taken to a room in groups of 2 to 5

In the novel Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, Okonkwo is a character who shows the difficulty
of staying true and saving his religion. Okonkwo is a very strong man. At times he may be very
stubborn, like most men. With many occasions he is very impatient and struggles with controlling his
anger. In the book, he is exiled for seven years. During those seven years missionaries come into the
village and try to make all of the Ibo tribe convert into Christianity. Since he,Okonkwo, is not there to

It was very obvious that Okonkwo was not willing to convert, he stayed and instead tried to get as
many people as he could to stand up to them and begin a war to get the British out one and for all. The
story would have gone much different if he would have agreed with the british and converted without
going down with a fight. It would not seem like him.
Additionally, the theme of this meaningful novel is culture conflict. It proves to see if danger that you
know is going to overpower your culture and effect your life, do you join it or fight for what you
believe in. That is exactly what Okonkwo did. No matter what the issue was he always knew that he
had done something wrong and and did his time, but in the end of the day he still stood up for what he
believed in. Just like today cultures should still treat each other with respect and respect different
beliefs. At the end of the novel, Okonkwo had hung himself because he knew the missionaries would
eventually and he wanted to be the one with the power to take his life. He decided to be the bigger
person and take his own life instead of giving them the power.
In the final analysis, Okonkwo was very unsatisfied with the coming of the British. He begins to
become more intimidating and decided to stand up for his tribe, sadly no one had his back. Okonkwo
becomes a tragic hero because he has tried to save his tribe, culture, and life but has failed in doing so.

Essay about Michelangelo s Statue of David
The statue of David, completed by Michelangelo in 1504, is an easily recognizable symbol to people
not only in Florence, but from all around the world. The David has a special meaning for Florentines,
and is a symbol of what the city strives to be; strong, courageous, and youthful. The sculpture tells the
tale of the battle between David and Goliath. David, a young boy at the time, was angered at the way
Goliath was treating the Israelis and stood up to the giant feat of taking on Goliath. With a simple
slingshot and stone, he defeated the angry giant, and became a symbol of liberty. The story shows that

were proposed as to where to place the David. These locations included places around Florence, but
the two most favored were the courtyard of the Palazzo Vecchio and the Loggia dei Lanzi. After much
deliberation, the statue was finally placed by the main doorway of Palazzo Vecchio in the Piazza della

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button written by Eric Roth and based on a short novel by F. Scott

Comparing Poems Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori
Dulce et Decorum est Pro Patria Mori in latin means it is sweet and fitting to die for your country .
These poems talk about the experiences soldiers endure during battle when people at the time believed
that this was a patriotic duty for young men to go to war and risk their lives for their country. During
this period, there were no televisions or newspapers that were able to uncover what was unraveling on
the battlefield and trench, to warn these young patriotic men of the horrors that would await for them.
Owen and Horace were once one of these young heroic men that experienced the physical, emotional

Serving Mentally Ill Prison Populations
The United States has the highest rate of adult incarceration among the developed countries, with 2.2
million currently in jails. In the last three decades those with mental disorders have been increasing
more rapidly than the courts would like, which could be the result of the deinstitutionalization of the
state mental health system.
What Are the Services Provided by Mental Health Courts?
The mental health system focuses primarily on the treatment of illnesses, public health, and harm
reduction. The courts attempt to purview each system so that they can fulfill its duty and produce the

vThe desire to rule a country, set up a powerful kingdom that could run for a longer time, and names
markup the history is almost every human s wish. Lives, money and so many other precious things
have been put into use to save kingdoms. One such example of ruling the kingdom is in that of Syria.
The Asad family is running the kingdom since decades, four decades indeed. The king runs a rule of
law, modified by him for him, and his powerful allies. Now that the Syrians have had much of the
brutalities and sufferings from the king s government, they at last decided to stand up against the king,
and force him to step down from the throne.

The Syrians planned a peaceful protest against the king, and wanted the king to step down of the
power. The protest lasted. The Syrian thought the protest would make the king to step down from the
throne and would not turn up to be so violent, cause life and home loss and demolish the syria s
infrastructure, things went wrong. In the deepest desire to run the kingdom, and unlike other
democratic Arab governments, the Bashar al Asad administration took to violence to calm down the
protestors. Hence started a civil war in the country that led to killing of millions Syrian. This protest
that is still in its full bloom, left tens of thousands dead, millions left their home, and took their
shelters to neighboring countries like turkey, Lebanon and Jordan. According to a survey, more than
eighty thousand people died, and millions homeless in the twenty four months.
The higher flames from that of the war in Syria need to be stopped. The head of the opposition party,
the al Nusra front is said to have stronger connections with the leader of al Qaeda, Aiman al Zawaheri,
who was senior advisor to late Osama Bin Laden. The Al Nusra front is heavily armed by the the al
Qaeda, and the arsenal provided to them by the al Qaeda is both of light and heavy type. The Syrian
government is therefore facing heavier and stronger offense from the opposition.

Community Organization Intensifies Community Stability and...
Crisis in community is a regular phenomenon. The need for community organizing addressing
community crises is, therefore, evident and perpetual. Bill Lee (2011) suggests that a pragmatic
approach to community organizing intensifies community actions addressing community crises
associated with the problem of inequality, environmental degradation and crises, and economic
instabilities. This paper intends to explore the influences and effects of Pragmatic of Community
organization on innovation and vice versa.
Bill Lee identifies community as a complex notion of the way people live and connect with each other
(Lee, B., 2011, p.20), and defines community organization as a social intervention which seeks to
maximize the ability of oppressed or disadvantaged people to take action and influence their
environment: ..... (Lee B., 2011, p.100). Lee also suggests that a pragmatic community organizing
should have specific objectives that include community participation, sense of community, social
production (Gamble, N. D. Weil, M., 2009, p.123), proper use of appropriate resources, and social
learning in order to achieve community goal focusing upon citizen empowerment (Lee, B., 2011, p.
94).
According to Lee, pragmatic community practice adapts two approaches namely healing or traditional
social work approach, and reformation or structural social work approach (Lee, B., 2011, p. 77) in
order to overcome community crises associated with three perspectives such as: social,

Nietzsche s Conception Of The Apollonian And The Dionysian
Many philosophical minds assume that during his time Friedrich Nietzsche didn t adapt along the line
of any traditional conception of the philosopher. Furthermore, one can say that Nietzsche is the
interpretation of the wise man after all he is serene, temperate and Apollonian. Furthermore, Nietzsche
used his beloved Apollo along with Dionysius in his philosophies of response to tragedy even though
there is tension between the two opposing forces known to him as the Apollonian and the Dionysian.
In the first place we must familiarize ourselves with the Greek god Apollo known to be the god of
light and reason. Comparatively, this leads Nietzsche to identify the Apollonian way of life

Examples Of Estella In Great Expectations
Imagine living a luxurious, wealthy life full of money and possessing everything desired at any given
time. This utopia may sound like an enjoyable experience, however, it would be contained of personal
and emotional hardships. These everyday struggles introduce themselves when the owner of such
wealth realizes that those riches can generate loneliness or great sadness. This concept of negative
consequences resulting from occupying wealth is expressed in Charles Dickens novel, Great
Expectations. Dickens utilizes Estella, a cold hearted, ill mannered protagonist to portray that even
with all the accessible wealth in the world, it is still possible not to discover happiness and respect for
others. Dickens idea is conveyed through Estella s personality, reckless attitude, and as well as Miss
Havisham, Estella s adopted mother. One of the main ways that Estella s unhappiness is conveyed
throughout the novel is through her personality. Estella is often viewed as impolite or unsympathetic
towards others, especially men. As a young child, Estella was constantly inhospitable to Pip, the main
protagonist. For example, when he would attempt to socialize, Estella simply replies with, He calls the
knaves, jacks, this boy! (70) She would criticize him on his appearance, exclaiming, And what coarse
hands he has! (70) Although Estella lives a privileged lifestyle, she still enjoys ridiculing Pip and
using his low social class against him. In this way, socializing and acquiring

Not much has changed in human nature in the past couple centuries. When we want something, we

modern times as it was in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
It is difficult to imagine for the modern man, but there was once a time when messages and
information had to be delivered by hand, horseback or by vehicle. This was a very big problem in a
world that was expanding and evolving rapidly and was full of growing local and international
turmoil. The more the world began to expand, the harder it became to relay messages and information,

Orsted was dumbfounded about his discovery, but had no way of explaining how it was possible that
the electrical current had an effect on the magnetic needle of the compass. After reading about Orsted
s results, a man by the name of André Marie Ampère sought to find the reason for this occurrence and
what he discovered changed the field of electrical engineering forever. He demonstrated that when two
wires were placed parallel to one another, both carrying an electric current, they d either be attracted to
or repulsed by each other depending on which directions the currents were traveling. [4]. Ampere later
created what is known as Ampere s Law which relates electricity and magnetism.
So why was this relationship between electricity and magnetism so important to the field of electrical
information transmission? This question began to be answered by a man named Joseph Henry in 1830.
Intrigued by the recent innovation of electromagnetism, Henry decided to test its effectiveness in the
field of electrical transmission. Henry decided that if he passed current through one end of a
transmission wire he could use the current to activate an electromagnet at its opposite end. Henry
attached a bell to the electromagnet a mile from his current emission point and was able to ring the
bell by sending current through the line. [2] This telegraph system was brilliant, but Samuel Morse
saw even more potential in the model.

The Great White Shark, immortalized by the Hollywood film Jaws, is at the midst of an international
controversy. The shark, despite its notoriety, is in danger of extinction. A conflict over the fate of these
sharks has existed for decades, but with recent attacks the debate has come to the forefront. The
environmental conflict over the Great White Shark has yet to reach a conclusion, as many factors exist

According to the World Wildlife Fund (2001), jaws are sold for between $15,000 $50,000 and teeth
for up to $600 per tooth.
Initial legislation on the protection of Great White Sharks was enacted in South Africa in 1992. Since
then, a few countries and states including Namibia, the Maldives, Australia, Florida, and California
have instituted legislation to protect these creatures (Stevens and Bruce, 1999, http). With reported
declines in their populations, the International Union for Conservation of Nature first listed the sharks
on the endangered species list in 1996. The first legislation in the United States that greatly limited the
number of sharks that can be taken from U.S. waters by commercial and sport fishermen came in
1993. In this legislation, the Great White Shark was declared off limits to commercial harvest (Paige,
2001, http). In 2000, Bill Clinton signed the Shark Finning Prohibition Act that bans shark finning in
all U.S. Waters. In addition, the act provides that negotiations to prohibit such practices be initiated
internationally (Shark Finning Prohibited in US Waters, 2001, http). The most recent fight for the
protection of the Great White occurred at the United Nations Convention on International Trade in

How Workplace Is An Essential Part Of Professional Life
Modern workplace is a specific and highly changeable sphere where the interests of employees and
employers are highly interconnected and opposed at the same time. Workplace management has
become an important part of any organizations life, especially during the last decades, when people
have been recognized by different management theories as the greatest assets of an organization.
Dealing with people, making them develop and learn, making them follow the planned agenda and
achieving something with the help of others have always been among the most important character
features of professional business and political lives. Although the simplest definition of management

II. History of Management and Workplace Learning. Theories and Concepts. Although a great number
of managerial practices have been used through the centuries of human development, they were rarely
investigated and conceptualized. However, it is clear that such important organizations as the Church
or the ancient armies were based on particular practices and concepts. The history of management
normally starts with the Industrial Revolution and the following mass production that changed the face
of the businesses and the world in general.
Each stage of the management theories development brought new ideas about the nature of an
organization, the place and importance of the workplace learning. One of the oldest theories of
management is the Scientific Management theory developed by Frederick Taylor, who tried to develop
the standards of organizations and their tasks. It is followed by the Bureaucratic Management Theory
suggested by Max Weber. This theory mostly concentrated on the types of organizations and the
hierarchy of organizational tasks and responsibilities.
These two theories compile the period, widely known today as a traditional management, where the

Social Tension Between Babo And Cereno
When Captain Amasa Delano visits the San Dominick, he notices the tension between Babo and Don
Benito Cereno while Babo is shaving Benito Cereno s beard, not unaffected by the close right of the
gleaming steel, Don Benito nervously shuddered (Melville 74). The tension between Babo and Cereno
is ironic because Captain Delano does not understand what is actually going on between the two
characters. As the social tension between Babo and Cereno rises, the aesthetic tension created by
Melville between Delano and the ship rises as well. Melville as a writer creates tension, and that
tension is rooted in irony. The close reading of the shaving scene shows how Melville uses irony to

Stocks trend, we noted a drop about $15 a share. This is a value you have been above
Since 2004. Also, looking at Starbucks SEC filings, we can see that its comparable store
sales have decreased significantly in US markets since 2004. This has prompted WillandSteph
to evaluate Starbucks current strategies in addition to the retail coffee market as a whole. To
evaluate the problem, one of the biggest questions to consider is to what extent is the designer
coffee market just a fad. In other words, will the allure of gourmet Starbucks coffee be
maintained or will more appealing options threaten the success of Starbucks primary product?
If the designer coffee market is indeed a fad industry, we need to evaluate Starbucks possible options
to avoid further decline. The overarching question that we should answer is how
Starbucks can stay profitable in the future. A good place to start involves evaluating the current market
for coffee; from this point, we can gather information about market performance and determine the
extent to which designer coffee appeals to current consumers. Through market analysis, we can
investigate whether or not the demand for gourmet coffee is wavering. We will evaluate whether
coffee companies in general are having trouble maintaining profitability or if it

The Duchess Of Malfi, By William Shakespeare
In Webster s The Duchess of Malfi, the forces of good and evil seem to be constantly at war. From the
beginning of Act I to the end of Act V, the audience witnesses these two elements struggle against one
another through each character s actions or intentions as well as through various points of imagery.
Despite the fact that the Duchess is murdered at the end of Act IV, Act V reveals that even in times of
immense tragedy and evil doing, good ultimately conquers all. Evil is easily sighted in the beginning
of the play when first meeting the characters of Ferdinand and the Cardinal. Bosola, in Webster s play,
offers an initial description of the brothers with a vivid simile: He and his brother are like plum trees
that grow crooked over standing pools; they are rich and o erladen with fruit, but none but crows, pies,
and caterpillars feed on them. (1.1.46 48). This figure of speech reveals several traits the two brothers
undoubtedly possess. First, Bosola discloses the men have great wealth and status in society they have
much to give. Yet, by using the word crooked, he immediately exposes that the two perpetuate some
degree of evil either through their intentions or their actions. The latter part of the quote indicates their
evil nature, which is why only dark symbols of nature seem to feed on them. Though Bosola s remark
hints at the darkness within Ferdinand and the Cardinal, it seems to become a severe understatement
after finding out the incredible evil they are

The United States Are Dependent On The Use Of Fossil Fuels
Our world and specifically the U.S. are dependent on the use of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are a
nonrenewable resource and one that we are extremely dependent on. We will soon run out of fossil
fuels, and when that happens in the near future we must be prepared. There are groups that believe that
renewable energy is not efficient, and the cost is too great to be effective. Some even believe that jobs
will be lost and the economy will falter. There is some truth to this, but this argument is much deeper
than monetary issues. In the long run, it is essential to develop renewable and clean energy sources
because without it the U.S. may very well be doomed. It is also beneficial to develop alternative
energy they have many advantages over conventional fossil fuels. A complete effort is essential in
order to successfully transfer to clean and renewable energy. These energy sources have major benefits
for the U.S. who is far behind European nations, and without improvements will fall behind.
Developing clean and renewable energy results in multifaceted benefits; these benefits along with the
fact that we have a limited supply of fossil fuels allows for the conclusion that it is vital to commit to
renewable energy. There are multitudes of problems with fossil fuels, but one is that they are
nonrenewable. We will be out of natural gas in about 50 years and oil between 2025 2070 (Senior).
Most of our world is currently dependent on fossil fuels, and this is an alarming fact.

Characterization And Imagery In A White Heron By Sarah...
In the excerpt from her novel, A White Heron, Sarah Orne Jewett utilizes characterization and imagery
to dramatize her young heroine s adventure, shifting the tone from ambivalent to triumphant. Aided by
characterization and imagery, the story s initial tone is ambivalent because of the mixed emotions
Sylvia feels while climbing. Sylvia is first described as daring, She had always believed that whoever
climbed to the top of it could see the ocean... Sylvia began with the utmost bravery to mount to the top
of it . As the story develops, Sylvia s courage remains intact when climbing becomes strenuous, The
way was harder than she thought... the sharp dry twigs held her and scratched her like angry talons .

  • 2. How Electricity Is Produced By Using Coal These days, most of us tend to take electricity for granted. If one were to be asked where it comes from, you would most likely get responses from all over, with a common response being, Out of the sockets in the wall! In this paper I will be giving a very brief overview of how electricity is produced, specifically from coal. Generating electricity requires a fuel source, and the fuel source for both EKP and DP L is coal. About 60% of the electricity nationwide is produced by using coal. Coal arrives mainly by a barge, but also by rail and truck. Barges typically deliver around 1,500 tons of coal, which is enough to keep a plant running for a couple of hours. A plant uses around 21,000 tons of coal each day, so over 1,000,000 tons of coal is stockpiled next to the plant. A device called a stacker reclaimer scoops coal onto a quarter mile long conveyor that can transport up to 900 tons of coal into the plant each hour. Once inside the plant, up to a thirty hour supply of coal can be stored in bunkers. Coal moves from the bunkers to feeders to be measured and moved to pulverizers. Coal enters the pulverizer and spins in a large drum where hundreds of steel balls grind it into a fine powder. Now a fine powder, the coal leaves the pulverizers and heads to the boiler. About 335 tons of coal can be pulverized per hour. Large fans add warm air to the powdery coal and blow it into the boiler. The boiler has miles of tubes filled with high quality water. Once ... Target Market And Competitive Analysis Essay Target market and competitive analysis It specifies the person who are the main source of income or via whom the business is growing and becoming successful. It means the customers who are likely to buy the product. One should consider numerous steps while considering the target market for the products. It can be divided into following categories: Demographic: It specifies the gender, income and education. In this category the people who are well educated and have knowledge about good and bad products come. In terms of our product, it is launched in China so it will target the educated people of China who believe in quality and standard. Furthermore, females love pets more as compare to men so the other approach will be to target the women of China by giving the best quality and standard of pets food in China market. The good influence on one woman will impact the other women of the society because this gender is the most friendly and information provider gender because information from one woman to other woman transfers very fast. • 5. A Research Study On Nanotechnology Nanotechnology is the interdisciplinary science which strives to make processes or modular units functional on a nanoscale dimension (1 x 10 9 metres) for scientific and industrial use (Hempelmann, Natter, Wolff, 2014, pg. 8). This recent field of science first practised only 35 years ago, has redefined modern science as it is today; through fields such as engineering, chemistry, physics and biology (nano.gov, 2016). Uniquely, in comparison to other disciplines of science, nanotechnology is particularly useful in solving modern day problems, which, sufficed to say, have only augmented to that of major concern in the past 50 years. The most significant of these problems concern clean renewable energy. In non industrial and commercial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, due to sustainability, and the threat to the environment, use of such energy sources cannot continue. This presents a serious problem, and, as such, the field of nanotechnology had been looked to for a viable solution. Only in the last decade have studies, in the field of a unique material, truly surfaced that presents a plausible answer to this dilemma; graphene. Discussion Macro vs. Nano Graphene is essentially a visible (absorbing 2.3% of light), one atom thick hexagonal lattice of carbon atoms (see Figure A), Earths best conductor of electricity, and a hardness 200 times stronger than steel (University of Manchester, 2015). Now, it must be stated that graphene is simply one atom thick graphite. However, in comparison, macro (graphite) and nano (graphene) are very different: 1.Structural orientation: although the two materials form an identical hexagonal lattice, graphite forms its lattice in flakes, resulting in a soft, brittle surface, whereas graphene consists of 1.4 x 10 10 metre long carbon bonds within a tightly back uniform lattice resulting in superior strength (La Fuente, 2015). 2.Conductivity: graphene has a higher conductivity than that of graphite (La Fuente, 2015). The quintessential reason for graphenes high conductivity is due to several reasons: zero band gap (see Figure B), the lack of surface resistance against delocalized (free) electrons, and its large surface area (Geim, MacDonald, ... Gloria Steinem discusses a similar idea in her article, quot;Sex, Lies, and Advertising. quot; She repeatedly demonstrates how advertisements, particularly in magazines, are complementary to the articles around them. In the same manner, so are commercials to television programs. They are both aimed at the same groups or types of people, such as sex, age, gender, etc. Many times, the time of day or day of the week a show is aired has a lot to do with the types of viewers the program will attract. Thus, the types of commercials will also differ. On ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This leaves a majority of the older crowds watching the program. According to Gloria Steinem, the target of the television show will be the same as that of the commercials. This proved to be true with quot;Profiler quot; and its commercials. They included and Allstate Insurance ad, a number of car dealers and promotions, chewing gum, beauty products, medicine, food, and television satellites. Most of them had female voice overs with predominantly white actors and/or actresses. The actors and/or actresses were also good looking, thin, and of high to medium status. In Steinem s terms, and as mentioned by Cayo Gamber, an advertisement is generally linked to the article, or in this case, the program. The show is seen as a quot;complementary copy quot; for the commercials; because it included certain accessories to a person in the same life style as the characters in the program. The cars advertisements, in particular, were at times found in the show. However, the other products weren t really enforced by the program. The Greek word euangelion which means good message is the the source for the word evangelist. 1. From the very first verse of this Gospel, the evangelist knows and proclaims who Jesus is: the Messiah, the Son of God. 2. John baptized with water, but the good news of Jesus coming is that he will baptize with the Holy Spirit which is proclaimed by John the Baptist in verse 8. 7. When Jesus heals the paralyzed man and then tells him that his sins are forgiven the teachers of the law are incredulous. This is part of the good news. Jesus has the power to forgive sins however upsetting it is to the religious establishment. Mark 1:15 goes up to say to believe in the good news. Belief, faith, is the core of the good news. Mark 9:23 sums it best: Everything is possible for one who believes . Mark 11: 24; Therefore I tell you whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours . Jesus also shows the healing power of faith in Mark 2:5,34 and 10:52 as he heals the paralytic man and the woman who touched his clothes wishing to be healed. He teaches us a valuable lesson in that it was their faith that healed them which should be an example for us today. The goal of this protest was to unite as immigrants and show what kind of hit the economy and labor force would take if immigrants weren t there to fuel it. This has taken place twice in recent history, once on May 1, 2006 and recently on February 21, 2017. One could argue whether they are successful in their efforts to show how important immigration is to the American economy. Background studies: Immigrants make up 12 percent of the population and more than 17 percent of the working population. This means that based on population immigrants are more involved in the workforce than natives themselves. With trump getting elected to Presidency, and his views on immigration control and it being viewed as discrimination, one could say that he is just putting fuel on the flame. According to Moriah Butler, Immigration protest are viewed by the general public in a disruptive manner with people saying that there will never be a right time to protest (Butler 1.) • 15. Why Do We Study Our Times Why did the authors do the study? We don t remember our past as accurately as we would like to believe. It is impossible to remember every detail of our lives. Because of this serious revisions and important distortions occur over time. We use self schemas to organize our personal history. Memories become less accurate and increasingly coherent over the years. We rewrite our personal histories. We aren t lying about our past we re just misremembering the way it fits with our schemas. This is why Ross, McFarland, and Fletcher conducted this experiment. They wanted to shed some light on how this came about. What did they do? There were 54 males and 47 females subjects recruited from the University of Waterloo. The questionnaire on attitude was completed by thirty five subjects and 66 subjects completed the assessed behavior recall questionnaire. A pretest was conducted to select the attitudes issues for the study. The subjects were exposed to a communication that was favorable or unfavorable toward tooth brushing. Essay about Michelangelo s Statue of David The statue of David, completed by Michelangelo in 1504, is an easily recognizable symbol to people not only in Florence, but from all around the world. The sculpture tells the tale of the battle between David and Goliath. David, a young boy at the time, was angered at the way Goliath was treating the Israelis and stood up to the giant feat of taking on Goliath. Benjamin ends up in Russia where he meets and has his first love affair with the wife of a British Trade Minister. This is an important turning point in Benjamin s life; he discovered what it means to love and to be loved. The two have conversations night after night in the lobby of the hotel and develop their love prior to consummating it. The relationship runs its course. Benjamin s captain, Mike Clark, volunteers the tugboat to aid in the war efforts after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. This is where Benjamin experiences his first loss. After reading about Orsted s results, a man by the name of André Marie Ampère sought to find the reason for this occurrence and what he discovered changed the field of electrical engineering forever. He demonstrated that when two wires were placed parallel to one another, both carrying an electric current, they d either be attracted to or repulsed by each other depending on which directions the currents were traveling. [4]. Ampere later created what is known as Ampere s Law which relates electricity and magnetism. So why was this relationship between electricity and magnetism so important to the field of electrical information transmission? This question began to be answered by a man named Joseph Henry in 1830. Intrigued by the recent innovation of electromagnetism, Henry decided to test its effectiveness in the field of electrical transmission. Henry decided that if he passed current through one end of a transmission wire he could use the current to activate an electromagnet at its opposite end. Henry attached a bell to the electromagnet a mile from his current emission point and was able to ring the bell by sending current through the line. From the beginning of Act I to the end of Act V, the audience witnesses these two elements struggle against one another through each character s actions or intentions as well as through various points of imagery. Despite the fact that the Duchess is murdered at the end of Act IV, Act V reveals that even in times of immense tragedy and evil doing, good ultimately conquers all. Evil is easily sighted in the beginning of the play when first meeting the characters of Ferdinand and the Cardinal. Bosola, in Webster s play, offers an initial description of the brothers with a vivid simile: He and his brother are like plum trees that grow crooked over standing pools; they are rich and o erladen with fruit, but none but crows, pies, and caterpillars feed on them. (1.1.46 48). This figure of speech reveals several traits the two brothers undoubtedly possess. First, Bosola discloses the men have great wealth and status in society they have much to give. Yet, by using the word crooked, he immediately exposes that the two perpetuate some degree of evil either through their intentions or their actions. The latter part of the quote indicates their evil nature, which is why only dark symbols of nature seem to feed on them. There are groups that believe that renewable energy is not efficient, and the cost is too great to be effective. Some even believe that jobs will be lost and the economy will falter. There is some truth to this, but this argument is much deeper than monetary issues.
