Essay On Odysseus
Crafting an essay on Odysseus is a multifaceted endeavor that demands a comprehensive
understanding of Greek mythology, literary analysis, and historical context. Odysseus, the
legendary hero of Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey," possesses a complex character that requires
meticulous exploration. Delving into his cunning intelligence, leadership skills, and the myriad
challenges he faces throughout his epic journey adds layers of intricacy to the essay.
The narrative of Odysseus unfolds across various settings, each laden with symbolic significance
and cultural nuances. Navigating through the intricate plot while unraveling the hero's
psychological and emotional evolution necessitates a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation
for the subtleties of ancient storytelling.
Moreover, addressing the various themes interwoven into the narrative, such as heroism, loyalty,
and the power of cunning intellect, requires a nuanced approach. The essay must not only
analyze Odysseus as a character but also illuminate the broader themes and messages embedded
in the epic.
Researching scholarly interpretations and critical analyses adds another layer of complexity to
the writing process. Engaging with academic discussions about Odysseus from various
perspectives, including historical, psychological, and feminist lenses, enriches the essay and
provides a well-rounded perspective.
Additionally, the task of weaving together a cohesive and persuasive argument demands a strong
command of language and rhetorical skills. Crafting a compelling thesis statement and
effectively supporting it with evidence from the text and scholarly sources is crucial for a well-
rounded and convincing essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on Odysseus is no small feat; it requires a synthesis of literary
analysis, historical understanding, and critical interpretation. The complexity of the character and
the epic itself necessitate a thorough and thoughtful approach to do justice to the depth and
richness of the material.

William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying and in Virginia Woolf s A Mark on the Wall
Subjective Narratives in Modernist Texts
Like many other modernist texts, William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying employs many
unreliable narrators to reveal the progression of the novel. One of the most interesting
of these narrators is the youngest Bundren child, Vardaman. Like the rest of his
family, Vardaman is mentally unstable, but his condition is magnified due to this lack
of understanding of life and death. Because he doesn t grasp this basic concept,
Vardaman s attempts to understand his mother s death are some of the most
compelling aspect of the novel. Over the course of the book, Vardaman attempts to
rationalize his mother s death through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then reasons that he, or Peabody, is the one who has done this to Addieand
retaliates: He kilt her. He kilt her (Faulkner, 54). Like the other Bundren narrators of
this novel, Vardaman often uses the word it in his narratives instead of fully
enumerating his intent. This passage is no exception; especially when Vardaman is
describing Peabody leaving Addie s room.
This confusion with presence and being is continued in Vardaman s second narrative
where he tries to associate Addie s death with other deaths he has experienced in the
past of rabbits and possums:
I thought it was her, but it was not. It was not my mother. She went away when the
other one laid down in her bed and drew the quilt up. She went away. Did she go as
far as town? She went further than town. Did all those rabbits and possums go
further than town? God made the rabbits and possums...Why must He make a
different place for them to go if she is just like the rabbit. (Faulkner, 66)
This passage shows that Vardaman has never learned about death, and simply lied to
when things died they went to town. These lies only perpetuate his irrational logic
regarding Addie s death. As this particular narrative progresses, Vardaman
determines that Addie is not a rabbit or a possum because she is in the coffin (box)
and Cash nails the box up, signaling that she is not going to town,
The Fascinating Aspects in Passionate Nation and Major...
There are several fascinating aspects of the material found in Passionate Nation and
in Major Problems in Texas History. One of the most eminent of these is the fact
that there actually was a fair amount of cooperation on the part of Mexico, some of
its citizens, and even of key political figures with Anglos and the fledgling state of
Texas. What is particularly noteworthy of this fact is that there appears to be little
reason for such cooperation on the part of Mexico, particularly when one examines
the geography at the time. Mexico was huge, as big as if not bigger than the U.S.
in the early part of the 19th century. It sprawled from the top of Oregon, as far west
as the pacific, as far south as where it is located today, and encompassed the
majority of western states including Montana, New Mexico, and many others. With
this palpable demonstration of land and authority, the relative degree of intolerance
that were conventional policies between Mexico and Anglo residents of Texas that
there was no immigration or slavery allowed seems perfectly natural. With so
much land and numbers on the side of the Mexican government, as well as support
from other nations which included at various times the indignant British (which had
recently lost the colonial war) as well as the Spanish, there really appears to be no
good reason for any sort of tolerance or kindness on the part of Mexican officials to
Anglos in Texas. However, there was, which seems somewhat inexplicable. The
Abortion Is Not A New Idea
According to Merriam Webster s Dictionary abortion is, the termination of a
pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of
the embryo or fetus. Abortion is not a new idea, that is only understood in America.
It is a procedure that has taken place worldwide for centuries. There is much debate
over this topic because everyone has their own opinion of the idea. Some believe it
should be banned forever and in all circumstances and others believe that abortion
should be allowed and socially acceptable. Abortion in the United States of America
has especially been a hot topic issue. Whether it has been deciding if it should be
legal or not, defining what it is, if it should be tolerated and countless... Show more

This also means that only the people that in all reality, could afford the child they
are attempting to abort, could pay for a doctor proficient enough to do the
procedure safely. Before abortions were legalized, in the 1920 s and 1930 s,
groups of people trying to make birth control more accessible to women, which
was highly opposed by the Roman Catholic church (Garrow 835). This shows that
people only see the value of a woman by what she creates and carries in her body,
because if people do not want birth control to be accessible to women, they only
want them around to carry children. Years went by without much luck on the goal of
legalizing abortion, for the safety of the mothers or the mothers well being in general.
Until Roe v. Wade. It is a common misconception that Roe v. Wade was the only
court case revolving around abortion occurring at this time, but realistically, there
were dozens. With that being said, it is without a doubt that it was not a fluke. It
was not by chance that the passing of this court case was a one time scenario. If
Roe v. Wade had not occurred, there would have been any of the other cases similar
to Roe v. Wade that would have taken its place in the Supreme court in 1973, when
the case was officially votes on and passed, which allowed women to have an
abortion and be in relative privacy if she chose to do so (Garrow 836). This is a
revolutionary court case in American history
Negligence Is An Important Part Of Tort
Study on Negligence
1.0Introduction
Negligence can be defined as lack of proper care or attention (Ludowyk, Moore,
2006). Negligence is an important part of tort. A tort is defined as a civil wrong
(other than a breach of contract) in the form of a breach of duty for which the legal
remedy is an award of damages. Negligence is that a reasonable person doing
something which may cause damage.
The purpose of this essay is to understand the three essentials of negligence. In order
to fully understand the three essentials, this essay shows some details about the three
essentials. In addition, this essay fully analyses the novus actus interveniens.
2.0 Background
When the plaintiff wants to prove the defendant owed by negligence, he or ... Show

3.1 Reasonable foreseeability
If the plaintiff s injury was not a reasonable foreseeable, the defendant did not have
a duty of care. In the case Tame v New South Wales (2002) 211 CLR 317, the
plaintiff had been in a traffic accident. She was tested and returned a zero blood
alcohol level.
However, the police officer recorded as 0.14 by mistake. Later, it was correct. In
addition, the plaintiff s lawyer told her the truth and it would not affect her
insurance. Then the plaintiff was obsessed and had a mental problem. In this case,
the plaintiff s mental problem is not a reasonable foreseeable injury. Therefore, the
police officer had not been under a duty of care and the state was not liable.
3.2 Recognised duties of care
The way to recognise duties of care is to find if there is a law regarding relationship
between the plaintiff and the defendant (Pentony, 2013). For example, the teacher is
under a general duty of care to provide students a safe environment to study, or the
manufactures need to provide a higher quality good to customers.
3.3 Neighbourhood factors
If the case is not in an established category, the Court may look at the important
characteristics of this case to establish an existent neighbourhood relationship to
justify a duty of care. In order to establish it, the Court needs to consider the plaintiff
s weakness in the matter, whether the plaintiff relays on the

Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry Important Quotes
Roll of Thunder Hear, Hear My Cry Essay In the novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My
Cry, by Mildred D. Taylor, it is shown that the one of the characters T.J. is the most
despicable person in the whole story. To start off, the character T.J. is described as
a person who is very manipulative towards the Logans. For example, when T.J. had
gotten Stacy in trouble by making him cheat on a test. she asked him how he got
them cheat notes. But Stacey wouldn t tell on ole T.J., and you know good and
well old T.J. wasn t bout to say them notes was his (81). It is shown how T.J. had
gotten cheat notes and had given them to Stacey, but Stacey didn t want to be a bad
friend so he didn t say it was T.J. Also, T.J. has demonstrated many times that he will
manipulate people to get what he wants. For this reason, when Stacey had gotten a
brand new jacket from Uncle Hammer, T.J. had taken an interest in it, and had told

is a individual that would of ontop of being manipulative and shameless, he is also
disgraceful. He shows in many different times in the story that he is a low, mean
person, that does not care about anyone, but himself. For instance,T.J. once brought
the Simms brothers with him to church to just show them off to the Logans as if to
say that he has found better friends. T.J. had also said that the Simms brothers treat
him like a man , and saying that they would buy him things and treat him better .
Just trying to show off to the Logans that he has found better people than them. It is
also shown in the book that T.J. s father doesn t like him being around the Simms
brothers because he knows they re bad people, but he still insists with hanging out
with them, even when his father has told T.J. that he would kick him out. He say I
stay way from that house one more night, he gonna put me out, and he mean it, too
(245). It has proven that the character T.J. is just a disgraceful person on top of
everything he has
The Impact Of Digital Distraction In The College Classroom
Digital Distraction in the College Classroom
Digital distraction is the addiction that one has to the internet, their phone or any
form of digital technology. This is constantly becoming a bigger problem in this
day and age as technology is advancing and new electronics are constantly being
released. These nonstop advancements are having a big impact on education,
especially in the college classroom. Being digitally distracted can do a lot to a
person, considering the fact that the phone and internet have become a huge form of
pleasure for many. Being digitally distracted can make a person lazy and careless
and when it is happening in the college classroom, it gets in the way of learning.
Digital distraction is being seen everywhere nowadays, but one of the places that is
has the biggest impact is the college class because it inhibits learning not just for the
user, but for the people around them too. Due to this rise in technology, millennials
have been dubbed digital natives for their comfort with and addiction to devices like
smartphones (Gose). This is something that needs to be fixed because it causes things
such as, the students not listening and missing their professor s instructions, leading
to bad grades and habits, distracts others, and can cause overall laziness. Although
technology has become an on growing problem in the class there are some solutions
to solving this issue such as taking phones away, having a place to put them at the
beginning of class, a

Napoleon seemed to have been seen as a man chosen and destined by god to find
victory, though in reality he was a workaholic, and spent long nights carefully
drafting his plans for battle. He was careful to maximize his manpower where it
counted most. That said, Napoleon saw a value in remaining unpredictable, always
maintaining an aggressive stance to force his opponent to respond to his moves. He
often determined that the moment was more important than manpower. Often, after
maneuvering for some time, Napoleon would order his men to charge towards the
enemy s approximate location. Sometimes he himself recalls that the approximation
was weak, but it was more important to move quickly and definitely, than to wait for
complete intelligence to reveal the true nature of the enemy s whereabouts.
Napoleon did not hold many rules on his troops when on the march, only that they
move at a steady pace and stay close together so that they could get into formation
quickly. Ultimately, it is clear that Napoleon had a natural gift for choosing the right
moves, and furthermore seemed to be at his best when under the pressure of an
intense battle, while the commanders of other armies tended to mishap. Napoleon is

How Does Iago Use Rhetorical Devices In Othello
Most murder mysteries and tragedies end with killings that are committed with
sole action, but in Othello, a tragedy by William Shakespeare, the reader is shown
that you can end a man s life with just words and a plan. Taking place in Venice,
Italy the play is about a moor, Othello, who falls in love with a fair skinned woman
who goes by the name of Desdemona. Eventually the two get married, but Iago, the
main antagonist, plans to seek revenge by killing both Othelloand his wife.
Shakespeare shows how Iago uses rhetorical devices to convince Othello that
Desdemona is having an affair resulting in both their deaths. The first scene I m
going to be using as an example is in Act three scene 3 lines 92 280. In this scene

Othello is truly questioning if his wife is cheating. In this quote Iago is using
emotion to get to Othello, pathos, he is saying how he s glad Othello is telling him
that he shouldn t help a friend when the truth is too much. This isn t only ironic, but
it also tugs at Othello to make Iago seem more honest and trustworthy than ever.
Othello even responds to him saying he should always be honest. In another quote

Symbolism of God Father Death
An Analysis of the Symbolism in Brothers Grimm
Godfather Death
In literature, symbolism is used to suggest an underlying meaning in a story. In the
story of Godfather Death, a quite ironic title, the Grimm brothers used a multitude
of symbols to convey the story s moral value. The Grimm brothers used seven
symbols in this story. All of them play a part in conveying the message that death
cannot be defied, death is constant, and death is fair. The father in this story searches
for a godfather for his thirteenth child, a son. The first person he comes to is God. He
sees God as unfair and biased toward poor people. He states he does not want him as
the godfather because he feels God does not disperse wealth equally; this stems from

He may have gone looking for a godfather to his thirteenth child to bring the
number in his family back to a divine twelve. The next symbol is the herb of
healing. This is a gift and also a curse that Death bestows upon his godson. Death is
willing to help him become a famous, wealthy doctor. Death who is fair, keeps the
promise he made his godson s father long ago, but the herb is used as Death sees it
to be used, not the godson. This is spun into action when Death says When I am
standing at their feet they are mine, but if I am standing at their head they are to be
healed (Grimm 12). In Essence I see Death using his godson to help him invoke the
ill. This outlines the power struggle that some father son relationships go through.
The father, always wanting what they think is best for the
child; the child being tired of being told what to do, rebels and defies the parent or
authorative figure.
As the story flows, the doctor has healed many and is gaining quite a reputation.
The king in this case represents the greed that can consume a man once he has had
a taste of success. The king becomes ill and the doctor is summoned to confirm or
deny his fate. The doctor sees Death standing at the king s feet; this as it is known
to the doctor is certain death. The doctor knows Death will forgive him; after all he
is Death s godson. The doctor defies Death s wishes and turns the king around to
where death is now standing at his head.
Investment Vehicles For Emerging Muslim Economy
Investment Vehicles for Emerging Muslim Economy: Which is which? Introduction
Capital market play vital role in financial growth. Mutual fund is one of the
securitization vehicles that commonly practice in today s modern economics
environment. Levy and Post (2005) mentioned investors, regardless of the type of
investment they choose, have one common goal which is to get return out of their
investment. Investors often have risk and return trade off in determining their desire
return. Thus, it is important to understand the financial stance of the investors in
order to determine types of investments that suit them. This essay s aim first to
discuss 2 types of mutual funds, open end and close end investment. Going further is
to relate them with the emerging Muslim s economy conditions. It is believed that
Muslim s economy is way far behind due to their weakness in the capital market.

Water And Electricity Essay
Electricity, Heating Water Electricity, heating and water consumption can be
substantial costs in a budget, which you need to check on every now and then e.g.
compare cost with local standards. Teach the children to save on electricity, heating
water. Our little game was that our child could help avoiding that the polar bears
would drown by saving on electricity and heating. Electricity Needless to say, only
turn on the light, when you need it, turn off electrical appliances when not used, but
there are other ideas for preventing paying too much for electricity, here are a few of
them: Get the cheapest electricity supplier; Use consumption from your bills for the

They found that women are worst at this, but are also better at selling the clothes
again. One of the causes are impulse buys, therefore, a remedy would be avoid
sales, window shopping, outlet visits or browsing the internet shops for ideas,
when not having anything better to do. Instead, prepare a shopping list in advance
and stick to it, e.g. only buy the new trousers you actually need. Another way to
reduce impulse buys is; leave the debit cards at home when you are shopping and
bring cash instead, which may be harder to spend; the cost becomes real. In
addition, it is also easier to limit the amount you put in your pocket in advance.
Some claim that it is possible to dress nicely for everyday and parties for little

interesting advantage of online shopping is however, that you can often find

should try an internet search to check if you can find the jacket at a better
Analyzing The Strengths Of Qualitative And Quantitative...
Q methodology was first introduced by psychologist William Stephenson (1902
1989). Q methodology combines the strengths of both qualitative and quantitative
methods (Brown, 1996). The method is one that studies subjectivity and can be
used on various researches. Subjectivity can be defined as a person s
communication of his or her point of view and it is always stems from a person s
internal frame of reference (McKeown Thomas, 1988). An internal frame of
reference can refer to the personal viewpoint of the respondent; in this research, it
is the viewpoint of several people for reasons why project are delayed. This frame of
reference has been established through the experience of working on or being in
other ways involved in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, this reference provides much more information than a yes, no question ever
did (McKeown Thomas 1988). Q methodology uses the concept of ranking as
simplified in Table 4.2. By asking multiple people from SHTC to rank the 40
statements, the prioritization of these criteria comes forth. All statements are based
on people s opinion on why project delay, yet the comparison with other people s
opinions and ranking the statements will bring about the real subjectivity (Brown,
1993). 4.1.2 The Q analysis process As the method revolves around the ranking of
statements, the process starts by defining these statements. This set of statements,
also referred to as the Q sample, should comprehensively represent the concourse:
the sum of all things people say or think about the issue being investigated. The
concourse is most typically collected through interviews and focus group
discussions. In addition, sources such as publications, essays, or any other sources
related to the issue may be used. The collection of the concourse and the Q sample is
described in the previous chapter. What is in fact investigated is not just the
concourse itself, but the inherent operant structure that exists in the concourse or the
Q sample (Dryzek, Clark, McKenzie, 1989). The Q sample often exists of
statements, however, it can be created from basically anything: from words to
paintings or even songs (Brown, 1996). With the Q sample, the respondents can

The Pursuit Of Happiness By Chris Gardner Essay
The Pursuit of Happiness is a movie about a single African American father named
Chris Gardner, who was evicted from his apartment in San Francisco, and him and
his son have nowhere to go. Chris is an intern as a stockbroker unfortunately this
position pays no money. These two face many challenges together as they live in
shelters and face the hardships of life as anything and everything gets thrown their
way. However, Chris refuses to give up as he struggles to make a better life for him
and his son. According to Macinois (Macionis, 2017), family violence involves
emotional, physical, or sexual abuse of one family member by another (p. 642).
Chris s wife is being in lack of terms a bitch towards him because he hasn t sold any
of his bone density machines. Once he explained what happened throughout his
day she didn t want to hear what he had to say. She s been bringing him down ever
since he signed himself into the company that doesn t result in a good paying pay
check. She doesn t show any emotional relation to him they hardly act as a couple
let alone seem close. She pays no attention to him she displays emotional abuse
towards him by making him feel like he is a worthless father and husband. In
reference to Macinois (Macionis, 2017), gender roles involve attitudes and activities
that society links to each sex (p. 91). In society, we have gender roles males are
usually the tougher and the figures of the family while the mother is the nurturing
one. Unfortunately,
Persuasive Essay On Freedom Of Speech
Freedom of Speech What is free speech? Does the term free speech cover offensive
words? Painful ones? Words that disrespect others? What about objectionable, or
even wrong beliefs? When is speech illegal? What is exactly meant by free speech?
According to Rampell, the term free speech includes hate speech , and is therefore
protected by the first amendment (np). This means that even messages we don t like,
agree with, feel uncomfortable about, or even are disgusted by, are legal.
Unfortunately, many college students consider harmful words an assault, and some
students believe that such verbal attacks can and should be met with violence (French
np). Students and speakers today are discriminated against in classrooms and other
scenes where free speech and debateshould be especially cherished. In 2017 alone,
there have been multiple riots born of originally peaceful protests. Students in
Middlebury College in Vermont revolted at a peaceful debate with far right
Charles Murray. While Murray tried to reach his building, a mob formed, forcing
him and his debate partner, Allison Stanger, to move to another building (Beinhart
np). When Murray and Stanger tried to leave, they and the car they were in were
attacked by students. The leftist Stanger was sent to the emergency room because
she tried to protect the guest (Fatzick np). In Berkeley, California, students were up
in arms, wanting to prevent Milo Yiannopoulos from speaking. Their haste to
silence a man they disagreed with led to a huge disaster. In the streets, fellow
classmates were attacked. One student who supported President Trump was brutally
beaten, and an innocent bystander who claimed to be Muslim was assaulted for
looking like a Nazi (Ramaiyer np). Others were beset upon as well, with pepper
spray, matches, and baseball bats. In total, only one person was arrested (French np).
Unless this one person attacked this many people and businesses, it s safe to assume
that dozens of perpetrators have gone unpunished for the crime of hurting a human
being! This free speech is not protected under the First Amendment. People are
hurting other people. Another time Mr. Yiannopoulos attempted to give a speech,
protesters rudely barged into the lecture

Theories Affecting Anna s Fear Of Snakes
The DSM 5 defines a phobia as a persistent and unreasonable fear of an object (or
situation) that is generally avoided to refrain oneself from intense anxiety. By
contrast, a fear is absolutely rational and reasonable as the feared stimuli is usually
threatening to the individual. There are various types of phobias, these include social
phobias, agoraphobia and specific phobias. If it is assumed that Anna has a phobiaof
snakes, this would be a specific phobia as such disorders are defined as a person
who, when exposed to the feared stimuli (in this case, snakes), experiences extreme
anxiety. There are several theories that may be considered to help explain how Anna
acquired this specific animal phobia. The theory of classical conditioning,... Show

Many researchers have investigated gender differences and the prevalence of
fears and phobias, with several studies reaching the same conclusions, resulting in
concurrent validity. One sample of 336 males and 384 females responded to a
questionnaire consisting of statements which they determined true or false to
ascertain whether they had a phobia or not (Fredrikson et al, 1996). Findings reveal
that males only had an animal phobia prevalence of 3.3%, while females had a
prevalence of 12.1%, therefore suggesting that there are in fact gender differences
in phobias, with females being more vulnerable. However, as this study used the
self report method it is possible that demand characteristics skewed the results as
males are more likely to deny their phobias. This may be because fear is not
considered a masculine trait by society but females are generally portrayed as the
weaker gender and so may be more willing to admit to their phobia. This therefore
limits the validity of this theory in relation to Anna and Bjorn. Nevertheless, this
study also investigated the age differences in the prevalence of phobias and found
that animal fears were more common in younger children than adults, although since
Anna and Bjorn are both the same age, this does not explain why Bjorn does not fear
snakes. Similar findings
Sherman Alexie s Flight
The novel Flight was a very interesting story about a young boy who seems to be

makes the poor decision to shoot up a bank. To have the boy come to the
conclusion what he was doing was wrong Sherman Alexie sends him to different
places and times to show teach him something more, almost like the Scrooge and
the many ghosts he encounters in A Christmas Carol . I will discuss a few of his
flights analyzing each flight and his journey from Zits to Michael through
emotional encounters and tough lessons. The first flight I will discuss is Zits

who has a father and meets many famous Native American figures and he gets to
experience the Native American culture. For the first time he identifies with the
Native American s and wants to be fully Native American, but in this boy s body
Zits does not have a voice. I believe the boy not having a voice could represent that
children, generally don t have a voice. Zits never had much if any say in where his
next home would be and he certainly didn t choose to be left behind by his father.
During his flight he also witnesses a great battle, the torturing and dismantling of
human men by the Native Americans. He is then told to kill a young white boy. This
flight teaches Zits that being here doesn t solve his identity crisis and he s beginning
to realize that maybe his actions were

Digital Design Theories, Practices, and Technologies
Learning the fundamentals of Digital Media is essential to laying a solid
foundation to allow for a sturdy backing in digital design. Digital design theories,
practices, and technologies can provide designers a stable of skills to build core
competencies and over time wisdom. Mastering digital design fundamentals will
provide opportunity for career growth. Depending on the industry, an entry level
designer can rise from senior designer, to art director, and then creative director. As
digital media continues to mature, categorical design disciplines will continue to
evolve, shape, and style the visual culture. From magazines to web pages, the
spectrum of visual design will continue to move people everywhere on an emotional

The Causes of the First World War
This question has formed part of the historiography of the causes of the First World
War, a historical debate that has endured ever since the conflict ended. It
periodically resurfaces with new theories being advanced such as the Fischer
thesis, usually on account of the release of previously unseen documents or
because of a shift in the political climate. It has emerged to the fore once again
because this year is the centennial of the war s outbreak and there are plans to
commemorate it nationally across the UK. In order to fully understand how
Britain s decision to go to war against Germany is best explained one must engage
into the debate revolving around the question of the extent to which Britain and
other countries were responsible for causing war. This helps explain the intention
Britain had for war which is vital in understanding their decision making process to
cause war in the first place. Some schools of thought have come to the conclusion
that it was everybody or nobody the continent slithered over the brink into the
boiling cauldron of war without any trace of apprehension or dismay. 1 That
analysis will be considered in this essay as will the widespread thesis that it was
Germany s aggression which not only created the preconditions for war, but also
triggered Britain into war with the political imbalance of power being created from
the growing naval and colonial expansion of Germany. Other factors that help explain
why Britain went to war against Germany
Clinical Approaches Of Treating Sleep Terror Disorder

phenomena that are closely related make up this spectrum of behavior, described as
complex behaviors or physiological events that manifest when an individual

accurate facts of the nature of sleep terror episodes. Additional management may be a

Among the categories of disorders recognized by the American Academy of Sleep

sleep stages or upon waking are identified as parasomnias (American Academy of

during their lifetime. A Canadian study found that 88% of children manifested at
least one parasomnia between age five months and six years (Kotagal, 2008). The
incidence of parasomnias begins to decline after age 25 years. Almost all adults who
experience parasomnias report a history of parasomnias during childhood (Kotagal,

etiology and epidemiology, and can occur
Bertrand Russel s Enlargement Of Self
Bertrand Russel was born on 18th May 1872. He was a British philosopher,
mathematician, historian, writer, social critic and also political activist. Numerous
points of his life, he considered himself a socialist, and a liberal. He was born in
Monmouth shire into one of the most upper class families in Britain. Russel led the
British revolt against idealism, In the early 20th Century. He is one of the founders of

One point that Bertrand Russel talked about is the enlargement of self. In the book
he stated, All acquisition of knowledge is an enlargement of self, but this
enlargement of self is best obtained when it is not directly sought. Russell s

extremely important there is an ethics screen for hiring process. The company will
have a strong ethics policy that will be very transparent about company s ethical

potential applicants about the ethicsjob screen. Moreover, this helps to maintain

Individual Identity In North America
One of the key concepts of a democratic regime is the individual freedom, which is
also referred as American s identity in North America. Following this concept, in
1791, the first amendment was ushered into position on the United States
Constitution, bringing the utmost protection for the liberty to establish, exercise
religion, the freedom of expression, and the freedom of speechinto existence.
Apparently, this egalitarian nation has created a fair, rational opportunity for its
citizens to form their opinions, thoughts without any fear, yet it also provides the
right to make a speech without a discreet selection of words, potentially leading to
disrespect, infliction of personal self esteem, and even conflicts. One of the typical

Indeed, there are much more considerations, trials, and evaluations than mere reliance
on the First Amendment, for the power to declare whether something is
constitutional lies to the hands of the Supreme Court s justice, not the Constitution.
In fact, the U.S constitution is a legal premise for the justices to form their judgments.
Supposing a person attacks Jones because of him burning the Kuran, he filed a
lawsuit against that person, yet he could not refer it constitutional considering two
reasons. Firstly, the law enforcement officers did not arrest him for his expression;
instead, they solely charge him for a third degree felony for allegedly transporting
fuel in violation of the law, and unlawful carry of firearm; therefore, no infringement
would occur due to the absence of government s involvement. Eventually, the case
will definitely end as the contravention of the first amendment did not come from the
government. Secondly, if the government had Jones arrested for his expression, some
people would say find it unconstitutional to arrest Jones, yet the act of burning the
Qurans would not be protected by the First Amendment, for although the First
Amendment protected all forms of communications and ways to deliver the messages
and communications, the Supreme Court recognized four main exceptions with

Long Term Conflict Effects
The effects of long term conflicts are numerous and include both physiological and
psychological effects. Children are specifically effected by ongoing conflicts.
Children who grow up in areas of ongoing conflict develop stereotypes and attitudes
towards those in the opposing group. It effects their understanding of the world in
general and develops the way in which they respond to violence and conflict. In
essence, growing up in an area with an ongoing conflict changes a child s entire

ever, according to the Organic Trade Association s recent report. American s spent
a whopping $43.3 billion on organic food in 2015, an 11 percent increase over last

The Pros
Organic foods are free of harmful pesticides, antibiotics, GMOs, and additives.
They have less of an environmental impact than conventional farming.
The nutritional value is typically higher in organic foods.
Avoid pesticides
One of the main reasons to buy organic food is to avoid possible exposure to
pesticides. Over 1 billion pounds of pesticides are used every year in the United
States alone, according to a study in Reviews on Environmental Health. These
chemicals are designed to be toxic. They are used in an attempt to prevent damage
from insects, weeds, rodents, and fungus. However, their long term safety in low
doses is not fully understood.
While there are no current long term studies about the potential impacts of pesticide
residue on human health, there is growing evidence that concentrated pesticide
exposure is related to increased rates of chronic diseases like diabetes, cancer, and
Alzheimer s, according to a recent study. Experts believe that the amount of pesticide
residue on produce is not in high enough concentrations to be harmful.
Pesticides are known to be especially dangerous for children and pregnant women.
They have been linked to attention and learning problems, low birth weight, abnormal
brain and nervous system development, and pediatric cancer, according to the

certain values, like to have a desire to be good mothers and good wives. However, as
much as they try to do these things, they find that their passions and instincts are put

the problems of being a womanin a man s society for years. Feminist literature existed
before feminismas a movement did. Finally, in the 20th century, this led to the
second and third waves of feminism criticizing the limitations of patriarchal and
sexist society for women. Doris Lessing in her story To Room Nineteen uses many
symbols to explain how women in patriarchal society feel oppressed and unfulfilled.

by resentment and that she was a prisoner (263). As the narrator explains, She must
tell Matthew but what? She was filled with emotions that were utterly ridiculous,
that she despised... (264). Like many women, Susan was trying her best to be happy
and grateful in a situation that she emotionally hated. The symbols of poison and
prison, both slow and dreadful, are used to emphasize how Susan can be suffering
even as she seems good on the outside. Her entire
Women Buying Cars Essay
Women Buying Cars
Last spring while trying to buy my first car, I experienced frustration in gaining
acknowledgment from salesmen as well as their respect at several different
dealerships. I discovered it was my attitude and approach to the salesmen that would
make the difference in the treatment I received from the them in buying a car myself.
I discovered, by informing the salesman from the beginning that I was serious and
financially capable of buying a car, I was able to get a salesman to take time in
helping me, a high school female, make a car purchase.
Through my experience, I discovered women are at fault for the treatment received
from car salesmen while making an effort to buy a ... Show more content on

In an article from World Press Review entitled Car Sexism drivesme crazy, author
Jojo Moyes says, . . . when [women] are interested, we are not taken seriously
(online). But, the salesmen don t know how serious women are about buying cars.
It s in the way women present themselves on a car lot that lets salesmen know how
serious they are. Having a passive attitude in the approach of buying a car doesn t
work. A salesman can hear you say you are interested in buying a car, but he ll take
your word for it if you prove you ve done your homework. And by doing your
homework, you ll feel more confident in talking to the salesman and know if you re
being taken for a ride yourself.
In New Choices: Living Even Better After 50, Margo Howard wrote an article
titled Don t Get Taken for a Ride. She said, ...collect advice and bone up on the
facts. Many [women] have found that organizing a worksheet at home, before
hitting the showroom, serves as an anchor. By figuring out in advance which
options you want, there is less chance of being hustled (online). If we as women
haven t done our homework on the vehicles we want, what kind of service do you
think is expected? Frances Cerra Whittelsey said in an article titled How women
can stop paying more than men for the same things in Money, . . . you ll get taken
more seriously and probably pay less if the salesman realizes you re familiar with the
Protecting Ideas with Copyright
Every process born on an idea. Here is when most organizations have their origins.
Like every production process, music production is protected from the idea to
distribution and sharing. Let s start from songwriting and composition .
В№According to the law, the lyrics that are written by a songwriter are considered
literary works and protected by copyright. Copyright is the right owned by the
creative artist to utilize or let use his composition by whoever needs with the proper
established agreements.
Written lyrics represents 1/3 of copyrights ownership as well as musical
composition and arrangement. We could see the backing chord and its progression
used in the song as its arrangement and the melody line as its composition. Only if
the artist creates every part of the song he is intitled to own 100% of song rights.
Them are split into three parts if songwriter, composer and arranger are different
persons; Can be even split into several parts if other organizations are involved. But
who and what protects copyright?
It was initially limited to literary works and gradually moved to music and other art
works. However, it was the very first British Statue that set copyright in the UK,
according to which whoever intended to copy, print or share an art work made by
someone else, had to obtain author s consense ; but only in the following North
German Confederation constitution ( Shutz des geistigen Eigentums ) in1867 , was
given a
Gopro Hero 4
Recently, 4K video has exploded onto the scene of affordable consumer cameras.
The GoPro Hero 4 and iPhone 6s are just two examples of consumer level devices
that are capable of recording 4K video. At first glance this technological
advancement seems like the perfect solution to videographers who need high
resolution video, but cannot afford a cinematic camera. However, this technology
is so new, there has yet to be a comparison between the various levels of devices
capable of recording 4K resolution video. Referring back to my problem statement,
the goal of this method is to determine if the GoPro Hero 4 and iPhone6s are a
suitable alternative to a 4K video camcorder. The following is a list of steps taken
in order to determine the effectiveness of these two devices. The first step was to
acquire the equipment and materials needed in order to achieve measureable
results. The three devices needed were an iPhone 6s, GoPro Hero 4, and a 4K video
camcorder. In addition to these cameras, I used a tripod for the camcorder, and
stabilized mounts for the iPhone and GoPro that attached to the tripod. I would
also need a color card to measure color, and a poster with a few words on it to
measure sharpness. Having access to the 4K TV in the Digital Media lab allows me to

I set the 4K camcorder onto the tripod along with the attached GoPro and iPhone in
three different settings. These three different settings were outdoors during the
daytime, outdoors in the evening, and indoors under artificial light. I also had to
make sure that each device was capturing the video in the 24fps, and that the
framing of each device was a close to the same as possible. While capturing the clips
in these three different settings, I placed the color card, and poster with wording
visibly in the frame of the video. I recorded several video clips on each device in
each setting so that I was sure I had plenty to work

  • 1. Essay On Odysseus Crafting an essay on Odysseus is a multifaceted endeavor that demands a comprehensive understanding of Greek mythology, literary analysis, and historical context. Odysseus, the legendary hero of Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey," possesses a complex character that requires meticulous exploration. Delving into his cunning intelligence, leadership skills, and the myriad challenges he faces throughout his epic journey adds layers of intricacy to the essay. The narrative of Odysseus unfolds across various settings, each laden with symbolic significance and cultural nuances. Navigating through the intricate plot while unraveling the hero's psychological and emotional evolution necessitates a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the subtleties of ancient storytelling. Moreover, addressing the various themes interwoven into the narrative, such as heroism, loyalty, and the power of cunning intellect, requires a nuanced approach. The essay must not only analyze Odysseus as a character but also illuminate the broader themes and messages embedded in the epic. Researching scholarly interpretations and critical analyses adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. Engaging with academic discussions about Odysseus from various perspectives, including historical, psychological, and feminist lenses, enriches the essay and provides a well-rounded perspective. Additionally, the task of weaving together a cohesive and persuasive argument demands a strong command of language and rhetorical skills. Crafting a compelling thesis statement and effectively supporting it with evidence from the text and scholarly sources is crucial for a well- rounded and convincing essay. • 2. William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying and in Virginia Woolf’s... William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying and in Virginia Woolf s A Mark on the Wall Subjective Narratives in Modernist Texts Like many other modernist texts, William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying employs many unreliable narrators to reveal the progression of the novel. One of the most interesting of these narrators is the youngest Bundren child, Vardaman. Like the rest of his family, Vardaman is mentally unstable, but his condition is magnified due to this lack of understanding of life and death. Because he doesn t grasp this basic concept, Vardaman s attempts to understand his mother s death are some of the most compelling aspect of the novel. Over the course of the book, Vardaman attempts to rationalize his mother s death through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He then reasons that he, or Peabody, is the one who has done this to Addieand retaliates: He kilt her. He kilt her (Faulkner, 54). Like the other Bundren narrators of this novel, Vardaman often uses the word it in his narratives instead of fully enumerating his intent. This passage is no exception; especially when Vardaman is describing Peabody leaving Addie s room. This confusion with presence and being is continued in Vardaman s second narrative where he tries to associate Addie s death with other deaths he has experienced in the past of rabbits and possums: I thought it was her, but it was not. It was not my mother. She went away when the other one laid down in her bed and drew the quilt up. She went away. Did she go as far as town? She went further than town. Did all those rabbits and possums go further than town? God made the rabbits and possums...Why must He make a different place for them to go if she is just like the rabbit. (Faulkner, 66) This passage shows that Vardaman has never learned about death, and simply lied to when things died they went to town. These lies only perpetuate his irrational logic regarding Addie s death. As this particular narrative progresses, Vardaman determines that Addie is not a rabbit or a possum because she is in the coffin (box) and Cash nails the box up, signaling that she is not going to town,
  • 3. The Fascinating Aspects in Passionate Nation and Major... There are several fascinating aspects of the material found in Passionate Nation and in Major Problems in Texas History. One of the most eminent of these is the fact that there actually was a fair amount of cooperation on the part of Mexico, some of its citizens, and even of key political figures with Anglos and the fledgling state of Texas. What is particularly noteworthy of this fact is that there appears to be little reason for such cooperation on the part of Mexico, particularly when one examines the geography at the time. Mexico was huge, as big as if not bigger than the U.S. in the early part of the 19th century. It sprawled from the top of Oregon, as far west as the pacific, as far south as where it is located today, and encompassed the majority of western states including Montana, New Mexico, and many others. With this palpable demonstration of land and authority, the relative degree of intolerance that were conventional policies between Mexico and Anglo residents of Texas that there was no immigration or slavery allowed seems perfectly natural. With so much land and numbers on the side of the Mexican government, as well as support from other nations which included at various times the indignant British (which had recently lost the colonial war) as well as the Spanish, there really appears to be no good reason for any sort of tolerance or kindness on the part of Mexican officials to Anglos in Texas. However, there was, which seems somewhat inexplicable. The

Abortion Is Not A New Idea According to Merriam Webster s Dictionary abortion is, the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. Abortion is not a new idea, that is only understood in America. It is a procedure that has taken place worldwide for centuries. There is much debate over this topic because everyone has their own opinion of the idea. Some believe it should be banned forever and in all circumstances and others believe that abortion should be allowed and socially acceptable. Abortion in the United States of America has especially been a hot topic issue. Whether it has been deciding if it should be legal or not, defining what it is, if it should be tolerated and countless... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also means that only the people that in all reality, could afford the child they are attempting to abort, could pay for a doctor proficient enough to do the procedure safely. Before abortions were legalized, in the 1920 s and 1930 s, groups of people trying to make birth control more accessible to women, which was highly opposed by the Roman Catholic church (Garrow 835). This shows that people only see the value of a woman by what she creates and carries in her body, because if people do not want birth control to be accessible to women, they only want them around to carry children. Years went by without much luck on the goal of legalizing abortion, for the safety of the mothers or the mothers well being in general. Until Roe v. Wade. It is a common misconception that Roe v. Wade was the only court case revolving around abortion occurring at this time, but realistically, there were dozens. With that being said, it is without a doubt that it was not a fluke. It was not by chance that the passing of this court case was a one time scenario. If Roe v. Wade had not occurred, there would have been any of the other cases similar to Roe v. Wade that would have taken its place in the Supreme court in 1973, when the case was officially votes on and passed, which allowed women to have an abortion and be in relative privacy if she chose to do so (Garrow 836). This is a revolutionary court case in American history
  • 5. Negligence Is An Important Part Of Tort Study on Negligence 1.0Introduction Negligence can be defined as lack of proper care or attention (Ludowyk, Moore, 2006). Negligence is an important part of tort. A tort is defined as a civil wrong (other than a breach of contract) in the form of a breach of duty for which the legal remedy is an award of damages. Negligence is that a reasonable person doing something which may cause damage. The purpose of this essay is to understand the three essentials of negligence. In the case Tame v New South Wales (2002) 211 CLR 317, the plaintiff had been in a traffic accident. She was tested and returned a zero blood alcohol level. However, the police officer recorded as 0.14 by mistake. Later, it was correct. In addition, the plaintiff s lawyer told her the truth and it would not affect her insurance. Then the plaintiff was obsessed and had a mental problem. In this case, the plaintiff s mental problem is not a reasonable foreseeable injury. Therefore, the police officer had not been under a duty of care and the state was not liable. 3.2 Recognised duties of care The way to recognise duties of care is to find if there is a law regarding relationship between the plaintiff and the defendant (Pentony, 2013). For example, the teacher is under a general duty of care to provide students a safe environment to study, or the manufactures need to provide a higher quality good to customers. 3.3 Neighbourhood factors If the case is not in an established category, the Court may look at the important characteristics of this case to establish an existent neighbourhood relationship to justify a duty of care. In order to establish it, the Court needs to consider the plaintiff s weakness in the matter, whether the plaintiff relays on the

This is a gift and also a curse that Death bestows upon his godson. Death is willing to help him become a famous, wealthy doctor. Death who is fair, keeps the promise he made his godson s father long ago, but the herb is used as Death sees it to be used, not the godson. This is spun into action when Death says When I am standing at their feet they are mine, but if I am standing at their head they are to be healed (Grimm 12). In Essence I see Death using his godson to help him invoke the ill. This outlines the power struggle that some father son relationships go through. The father, always wanting what they think is best for the child; the child being tired of being told what to do, rebels and defies the parent or authorative figure. As the story flows, the doctor has healed many and is gaining quite a reputation. The king in this case represents the greed that can consume a man once he has had a taste of success. The king becomes ill and the doctor is summoned to confirm or deny his fate. The doctor sees Death standing at the king s feet; this as it is known to the doctor is certain death. The doctor knows Death will forgive him; after all he is Death s godson. The doctor defies Death s wishes and turns the king around to where death is now standing at his head.

  • 21. Analyzing The Strengths Of Qualitative And Quantitative... Q methodology was first introduced by psychologist William Stephenson (1902 1989). Q methodology combines the strengths of both qualitative and quantitative methods (Brown, 1996). The method is one that studies subjectivity and can be used on various researches. Subjectivity can be defined as a person s communication of his or her point of view and it is always stems from a person s internal frame of reference (McKeown Thomas, 1988). An internal frame of reference can refer to the personal viewpoint of the respondent; in this research, it is the viewpoint of several people for reasons why project are delayed. Hence, this reference provides much more information than a yes, no question ever did (McKeown Thomas 1988). Q methodology uses the concept of ranking as simplified in Table 4.2. By asking multiple people from SHTC to rank the 40 statements, the prioritization of these criteria comes forth. All statements are based on people s opinion on why project delay, yet the comparison with other people s opinions and ranking the statements will bring about the real subjectivity (Brown, 1993). 4.1.2 The Q analysis process As the method revolves around the ranking of statements, the process starts by defining these statements. This set of statements, also referred to as the Q sample, should comprehensively represent the concourse: the sum of all things people say or think about the issue being investigated. The concourse is most typically collected through interviews and focus group discussions. In addition, sources such as publications, essays, or any other sources related to the issue may be used. The collection of the concourse and the Q sample is described in the previous chapter. What is in fact investigated is not just the concourse itself, but the inherent operant structure that exists in the concourse or the Q sample (Dryzek, Clark, McKenzie, 1989). The Q sample often exists of statements, however, it can be created from basically anything: from words to paintings or even songs (Brown, 1996). These two face many challenges together as they live in shelters and face the hardships of life as anything and everything gets thrown their way. However, Chris refuses to give up as he struggles to make a better life for him and his son. According to Macinois (Macionis, 2017), family violence involves emotional, physical, or sexual abuse of one family member by another (p. 642). • 23. Persuasive Essay On Freedom Of Speech Freedom of Speech What is free speech? Does the term free speech cover offensive words? Painful ones? Words that disrespect others? What about objectionable, or even wrong beliefs? When is speech illegal? What is exactly meant by free speech? According to Rampell, the term free speech includes hate speech , and is therefore protected by the first amendment (np). This means that even messages we don t like, agree with, feel uncomfortable about, or even are disgusted by, are legal. Unfortunately, many college students consider harmful words an assault, and some students believe that such verbal attacks can and should be met with violence (French np). Students and speakers today are discriminated against in classrooms and other scenes where free speech and debateshould be especially cherished. In 2017 alone, there have been multiple riots born of originally peaceful protests. Students in Middlebury College in Vermont revolted at a peaceful debate with far right Charles Murray. While Murray tried to reach his building, a mob formed, forcing him and his debate partner, Allison Stanger, to move to another building (Beinhart np). When Murray and Stanger tried to leave, they and the car they were in were attacked by students. The leftist Stanger was sent to the emergency room because she tried to protect the guest (Fatzick np). In Berkeley, California, students were up in arms, wanting to prevent Milo Yiannopoulos from speaking. Their haste to silence a man they disagreed with led to a huge disaster. In the streets, fellow classmates were attacked. • 25. Theories Affecting Anna s Fear Of Snakes The DSM 5 defines a phobia as a persistent and unreasonable fear of an object (or situation) that is generally avoided to refrain oneself from intense anxiety. By contrast, a fear is absolutely rational and reasonable as the feared stimuli is usually threatening to the individual. There are various types of phobias, these include social phobias, agoraphobia and specific phobias. If it is assumed that Anna has a phobiaof snakes, this would be a specific phobia as such disorders are defined as a person who, when exposed to the feared stimuli (in this case, snakes), experiences extreme anxiety. There are several theories that may be considered to help explain how Anna acquired this specific animal phobia. The theory of classical conditioning,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many researchers have investigated gender differences and the prevalence of fears and phobias, with several studies reaching the same conclusions, resulting in concurrent validity. One sample of 336 males and 384 females responded to a questionnaire consisting of statements which they determined true or false to ascertain whether they had a phobia or not (Fredrikson et al, 1996). Findings reveal that males only had an animal phobia prevalence of 3.3%, while females had a prevalence of 12.1%, therefore suggesting that there are in fact gender differences in phobias, with females being more vulnerable. However, as this study used the self report method it is possible that demand characteristics skewed the results as males are more likely to deny their phobias. This may be because fear is not considered a masculine trait by society but females are generally portrayed as the weaker gender and so may be more willing to admit to their phobia. This therefore limits the validity of this theory in relation to Anna and Bjorn. Nevertheless, this study also investigated the age differences in the prevalence of phobias and found that animal fears were more common in younger children than adults, although since Anna and Bjorn are both the same age, this does not explain why Bjorn does not fear snakes. Similar findings

It periodically resurfaces with new theories being advanced such as the Fischer thesis, usually on account of the release of previously unseen documents or because of a shift in the political climate. It has emerged to the fore once again because this year is the centennial of the war s outbreak and there are plans to commemorate it nationally across the UK. In order to fully understand how Britain s decision to go to war against Germany is best explained one must engage into the debate revolving around the question of the extent to which Britain and other countries were responsible for causing war. This helps explain the intention Britain had for war which is vital in understanding their decision making process to cause war in the first place. Some schools of thought have come to the conclusion that it was everybody or nobody the continent slithered over the brink into the boiling cauldron of war without any trace of apprehension or dismay. 1 That analysis will be considered in this essay as will the widespread thesis that it was Germany s aggression which not only created the preconditions for war, but also triggered Britain into war with the political imbalance of power being created from the growing naval and colonial expansion of Germany. Other factors that help explain why Britain went to war against Germany

In fact, the U.S constitution is a legal premise for the justices to form their judgments. Supposing a person attacks Jones because of him burning the Kuran, he filed a lawsuit against that person, yet he could not refer it constitutional considering two reasons. Firstly, the law enforcement officers did not arrest him for his expression; instead, they solely charge him for a third degree felony for allegedly transporting fuel in violation of the law, and unlawful carry of firearm; therefore, no infringement would occur due to the absence of government s involvement. Eventually, the case will definitely end as the contravention of the first amendment did not come from the government. Secondly, if the government had Jones arrested for his expression, some people would say find it unconstitutional to arrest Jones, yet the act of burning the Qurans would not be protected by the First Amendment, for although the First Amendment protected all forms of communications and ways to deliver the messages and communications, the Supreme Court recognized four main exceptions with Jones case lying under one
