Cultural Awareness Essay
Composing an essay on the subject of cultural awareness presents a unique set of challenges. The
intricacies involved in addressing cultural diversity, sensitivity, and understanding demand a
nuanced approach that goes beyond mere factual representation. Cultures are dynamic,
multifaceted, and deeply rooted in history, making it a complex task to encapsulate their essence
in a coherent and respectful manner.
One of the primary difficulties lies in navigating the vast array of cultural nuances without
oversimplifying or generalizing. Each culture is a tapestry of traditions, beliefs, customs, and
values, and capturing this richness without reducing it to stereotypes requires extensive research
and a careful selection of examples. Moreover, ensuring that the essay is inclusive and does
justice to the diverse spectrum of cultures adds an additional layer of complexity.
Cultural awareness also involves addressing the challenges and conflicts that arise when different
cultures intersect. Balancing the celebration of diversity with an acknowledgment of potential
misunderstandings or conflicts requires a delicate touch. Writers must be attuned to the potential
pitfalls of cultural appropriation, ethnocentrism, or bias, striving for an objective and unbiased
perspective.
Crafting a culturally aware essay involves not only understanding the subject matter but also
possessing the skill to communicate effectively. The language used must be respectful, and the
tone should foster an atmosphere of openness and acceptance. Striking this balance is no easy
feat, as writers must constantly be vigilant of potential pitfalls that could inadvertently
perpetuate stereotypes or reinforce cultural biases.
In conclusion, writing a cultural awareness essay is a challenging endeavor that demands a
combination of research, sensitivity, and effective communication. It requires a commitment to
portraying cultures accurately while avoiding the pitfalls of oversimplification and bias.
Successfully navigating these challenges can lead to a thought-provoking and enlightening essay
that fosters a deeper understanding of the rich tapestry of human cultures.

Business Minors
1.When should I start applying for internships?
Not having enough internships can be a disadvantage in the long run. Most
internships look for students with at least 60 credits, so start applying for internships
when you are a upper sophomore. Internships help the employers know that you had
an opportunity to apply the skills you learned in college in a real world work
environment. It is recommended that students have six months to two years of
internship experience on their resume.

Maryland Vaccinating Case Study
I am passionate about this issues. I have worked as an immunization nurse for
several years in the state of Maryland. In Maryland there are strict requirements for
vaccinating children for school entry. I worked for Prince George s County and
Baltimore County Health Department. In the state of Maryland many children each
year are out compliance and therefore are not allowed to attend schooluntil the
requirements are satisfied.
The challenges with this policy issues is that many parents disagree with the
mandated vaccination laws for children. Parent s want to make their own decisions
about whether to vaccinate their children. Many parents have concerns about the
safety of the vaccines or religious reasons for choosing not to vaccinate.
Differences In Blue Penguin By Dr. Seuss And Blue Penguins
Discrimination has been present in society since ancient times. Discrimination is the
theme of the books, The Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss and Blue Penguin
by Petr HorГЎДЌek. These two books with a difference of more than fifty years
show us, as some of its characters, Blue Penguin from the book Blue penguin, and a
group of plain belly Sneetches from the book The Sneetches and Other Stories are
similarly discriminated, but they face the situation differently. Blue penguin accepts
himself and the plain belly Sneetches, unlike the blue penguin, try to be like the star
belly Sneetches.
The story of the Sneetches and the story of the Blue penguin are both charming. One
was written in 1961 and the other in 2015. Both stories with their wonderful
characters teach us about the influence of discrimination. The sneetches made a
mistake trying to change their appearances to fit in the society in which they lived
but in the end, both stories showed that it is never too late to change and begin to
accept others and more important to accept ourselves. On the other hand, there is the
story of the blue penguin who was a strong penguin but he was constantly
discriminated by the other penguins to the point of wanting to leave the South Pole.
Blue Penguin never wanted to change its appearance or its way of being, unlike the
sneetches he always accepted himself. as a result, the other penguins had to accept
him the way he was.

Benchmade Rivalry
Analysis of Porters five industry forces on Benchmade
Introducing a new product or service into a marketplace requires more than just a
great idea. Companies are often enamored with new product ideas that would
appear to be unlimited in its ability to capture a market. However, limits do exist
and failure to properly conduct market research could lead to a failed product
introduction. Enabling analysis of a market to determine the level of competition
requires the use of Porter s five industry forces; the character of rivalry, the threat of
new entrants, the threat of substitute products or services, the bargaining power of
suppliers, and the bargaining power of buyers (Williams 2017).
Rivalry among competitors is a normal part of the business environment and should
be expected in any market. However, understanding the character of the rivalry, or
how intense the behavior is of the companies competing in that industry, is the first
of Porter s five industry forces (Williams 2017). As an example, in 1988 Benchmade
Knife Company was founded by Les de Asis in California, producing fixed blade and
folding knives. As a sporting knife manufacturer, Benchmade competitors included;
Buck, KA BAR, Case, Gerber, Kershaw, Syderco, SOG, Columbia River Knife Tool
(CRKT), Cold Steel. There were also many custom knife makers usually sold under
the knifemakers name offering custom designs and handcrafted precision. A crowded
industry field offering steel stamped production knives all the
Eviction Sociological Perspective
Eviction, while it hurts the family the most, also takes a toll on the communities in
the form of ingroups and outgroups. In his book, Evicted, Matthew Desmond says,
Eviction even affects the communities that displaced families leave behind.
Neighbors who cooperate with and trust one another can make their streets safer and
more prosperous (p. 298). To make those streets safer and to develop trust and a
sense of security, in groups are created by those in the neighborhood who talk to each
other often and form a friendly relationship. Eviction can break that relationship and
sometimes result in the removal of the security and trust in the ingroups. It also
creates worry about what the next renter will be like. When that renter moves in they

he was going to move to the North Side she even said No, Matt. You don t know

Was Art An Expression Of Society After The Bombing In...
Identification and Evaluation of Sources:
The aim of this investigation is to explore, to what extent was art an expression of
society after the bombing in Guernica? These sources explain the causation of the
bombing and how art expressed society after the bombing. How the bombing
influenced artists such as Picasso to paint one of his most famous paintings and his
emotions towards the bombing and how it made art his only weapon to fight against
the war.
Pablo Picasso s painting was painted in 1937, that painting is a highly valuable source
towards the investigation of the expression that the society had towards the bombing.
This painting was created to show the public what the civilians in the city had to go

Frederick Douglass And Anne Moody
In 1619, when the first Africans were brought into Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the
production of crops on the farms of Caucasian landowners, a period in our country
s dark history began, and with it a struggle for equality and freedom. For over 200
years, slavery consumed the United States, compelling blacks to long and later fight
for the freedom their fair skinned counterparts had stripped from them. Decades later,
the oppression of black rights marked the beginning of another struggle; one for basic
rights that the black population had been denied. During these struggles, several
names would come to mind for their achievements and efforts against racism and
slavery, names like Frederick Douglass and Anne Moody. Frederick Douglass
paved his own road to freedom while Anne Moody put her life on the line fighting
for the rights that she knew she deserved. Although time frames apart, both
Frederick Douglass and Anne Moody were able to resist and fight racism due to
their thirst for knowledge, the help they extended towards other blacks, and their
faith in succeeding despite previous failures. Although Frederick Douglass was a
slave and Anne Moody a free woman with a century between them, both were able
to defy racism by making the most of their education. Slaves were not expected to
read or write, and even after the abolition of slavery, blacks were thought to be
uneducated and unintelligent. Frederick Douglass, upon receiving only a short
period of instruction from his

Ritz said he believes many tragic occurrences and recent events in society may be a
primary reason behind why campus carry is becoming a reality.
People are concerned about their safety, their students and families, Ritz said. I think
people have finally realized that 99.99 percent of firearm owners are responsible,

Andy Hart, Ph.D., Extension 4 H and youth development specialist, is a close friend

Dr. Ritz is a good instructor, Hart said, I do not think that students carrying guns on
campus would bother him at all.
He said Ritz is not a professor that seems to encounter many issues with students and
does not think he will ever have to fear for his life because of an upset student.
Ritz said he suspects that if a criminal or rogue outlaw wanted to bring a gun into his
classroom prior to the legalization of campus carry, they are probably already doing
so.
A sign or a law is not going to stop someone that is not a law abiding citizen, Ritz
said.
Ritz also said he does not think campus carry will affect his job negatively.
Hart said he thinks campus carry could possibly cause some distractions for Ritz and
other professors.
I think the reason that campus carry was made legal was to
Hunger And Hunger Related Illnesses
Approximately 795 million people in the world are chronically malnourished. That
means that one in nine people do not have enough food to live a healthy lifestyle.
This is the biggest problem affecting a considerable amount of the human
population. Hunger and hunger related illnesses kill just over 6 millions children a
year. Hunger is not partial to race or gender, it s a problem in all corners of the
world, it affects people in even the most developed countries. The more humans
progress the more this problem, logically, the more this problem should diminish but
that is not the case. The problem does not lie in the lack of foodproduction, or lack of
food on earth, rather there is an excess of food that could feed everyone with ease.
Global food insecurity is a solvable issue. The selfishness and yearn for excess is
what is continuing starvation. Hunger could be solved at any point in time if
everyone came together to support efforts. The government and the people need to
work together to end this epidemic, this is a problem everyone needs to deal with.
Hunger is defined in Merriam Webster s Dictionary as a craving or urgent need for
food or a specific nutrient or an uneasy sensation occasioned by the lack of food.
The effects of hunger on a human are dreadful. Hunger doesn t just affect the
stomach, it affects the whole body. Vital organs are compromised and one becomes
more likely to get diseases. When one is malnourished it becomes harder to
concentrate as the brain

Modern World Challenges At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, new
opportunities, as well as challenges, needed to be addressed by Buddhism as a
religion. Cultural and religious patterns were being affected and across regions at the
expense of the pre modern Buddhist world ( Encyclopedia Britannica , 2014).
Westernization began to settle in a lot of Buddhist countries due to conquests.
Economic, political, cultural and religious influence from the west was becoming
heavy. All across Asia the everyday life and thoughts of Buddhist communities
became infused with notions of socialism and liberal democracy, modern rationalistic
and scientific thinking and modern capitalistic economies. Also, Buddhism, as a
religion started to reappear in communities it previously flourished many years ago.
Buddhism rapidly moved into the west and prospered with new developments, which
energized the Buddhism religion back in Asia ( Encyclopedia Britannica , 2014).
Women In Buddhism
Women have fully been permitted to participate in a religious community since the
early days of Buddhism. But they were bound by restrictions, since they ve typically

The Red Devils Soccer is one of the most famous and most viewed sports around
the world. Every country has its league, and every league consists of a certain
number of competing teams. Modern soccer, or soccer as we now know it, started
in England; the home of the Barclays Premier League. The Barclays Premier
League is known to be one of the most exhilarating, competitive and unpredictable
leagues in the world. Many strong teams compete in the Barclays Premier League
and it is always hard to expect who the winner will be, but for the past few years, out
of all the teams competing in the Premier League, one team stood out and proved that
it is truly the best English team in this period of time, and that team is Manchester

The best example that shows how hard Manchester United fight for the title is
what happened last season (2011 2012) with Manchester City as Manchester

when Manchester City scored two goals, won the match and therefore won the
title by goal difference. Manchester United weren t only successful in England, but
also in Europe with around 200 UEFA Champions League appearances and 5 major
European titles. Manchester United is a team that doesn t miss the UEFA
Champions League too often especially after Sir Alex Ferguson took over. In the
current UEFA Champions League (2012 2013), Manchester United qualified to the

Reasonable Occupation Review Paper
Effects of the Realistic Job Previews on Employees Job Satisfaction
Abstract
Reasonable occupation review (RJP) is the presentation of data both positive and
negative given to the forthcoming representative about the occupation and the
association. The data gave is expected to give the practical picture of the association.
The part of the data stream is to touch base at a phase where the desires of the
representative and the candidate match. It is being contended that representatives
who are given RJP s amid the enlistment and determination process have higher
occupation fulfillment. Along these lines, the point of this study is to distinguish the
connections between practical work sneak peaks and worker work fulfillment in the
associations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is made helpful by utilizing both formal and casual techniques. Its convenience
can be surveyed if the association discovers workforce, which coordinates its
necessities.Better enlistment strategies give an upper hand to the association
(Kecia, and Gail, 1999). One of the striking elements of an enlistment procedure is
the capacity to influence an applicant (Quinetta, Collins and Oreg, 2005). It
imparts looked for after and ugly parts of the employment to the occupation
candidate before he/she makes a choice to acknowledge the occupation offer
(Champnoise, 2004). Great RJPs give a complete depiction of the employment (O
Nell et al., 2001). It is meant to guarantee that gainful and able candidates must join
the association with a long haul responsibility to the association (Champnoise,
2004). It is normal that a great job practical sneak peak can help in lessening the
turnover and the employing cost (O Nell et al., 2001). RJPs are proposed to give
practical employment data. On the off chance that the data is excessively negative,
then it would withhold the possibility to join the association (Quinetta, Collins, and
Oreg, 2005). The data gave ought to be adjusted both positive and negative data, and
the excessively positive data is unsafe for an association (Morse, 2007). RJPs are
given in different configurations and through various strategies (Champnoise, 2004).
In any case, it is too imperative that the
The Ancient Greek Notion Of Virtue Ethics
Virtue ethics can be described as a collection of numerous theories that put their
emphasis mainly on the role of virtue and character rather than emphasizing on the
guidelines associated with the actions and the consequences of this actions. The
origin of virtue ethics can be dated back to the ancient Greek and this concept was
highly conceptualized by the early Greek philosophers and thinkers.
An early Greek notion of virtue ethic different from some specific issues but at the
same time, there were issues on the moral character which seemed to be very
similar. Most of the great Greek thinkers believed that in order for a sound decision
to be made and what actions to be taken in different situations, requires a person who

National Parks In The Canadian Economy
The Canadian government and people spent millions on national parks each year on
the upkeep of their national parks. Unfortunately, this past year alone they have lost
about $30 million in national funding. However in 2015 spending was $3.3 billion
total. Of that, 82% ($2.7 billion) was visitors spending alone. Furthermore, visitors
spending accounts for 75% of the GDP impact, 76% of employment impacts and
62% of the tax impact. (Parks Canada, 2016). As these numbers show National Parks
are a very large part of the Canadian Economy. With the budget cuts this means that
parks will be open for shorter seasons and many staff members will lose their jobs.

The Myth Of Black Holes
For years black holes have been the work of science fiction, but a new development
says that black holes are not just a mere myth, but that they lurk in the darkness in
space. Black holes do exist because we have observed them, scientists have tested
them, and they are remnants of giant stars. Black holes are a section of space where
the mass of several billion of our sun s (depending on the size of the star) is crushed
into a very small section. This causes the gravity to be so strong, even light cannot
escape. This means that there is no reflected light, hence the name Black Holes.
Though they are black and naked to the eye, special telescopes can find them. They
search for areas of deep space where there are deep gravitational influences. ... Show

When this happens several things can happen depending on the size and mass of
the star. Take our Sun for example, when it grows old it will enlarge into a Red
Giant, then it will shrink into a White Dwarf. This is one of the more Peaceful
options. (It will engulf Mercury and Mars when it is a Red Giant and make life on
Earth very hot.) However if the star has a very large mass, at least 1.4 times the mass
of our sun, it will explode in a supernova casting away most of the star s mass.
Leaving only the core, the core will begin to collapse, only this time it can t

even though they seem all powerful (and they are to some matter), they too have to

Essay On Loftus And Plamer 1974
It is difficult for the witness to recall the details of the time, speed, and distance for a
car accident, therefore in 1974 a group of experimenters from University of
Washington conducted two related experiments based on this issue (Loftus Plamer,
1974). First, they questioned whether the changing verb in a questionabout speed
would effect people s estimation adding on to the first question they asked does the
leading question produces a demand characteristic or the question actually causes a
person s memoryto change (Loftus Plamer, 1974). Build on to the questions, they
came up with two hypotheses, first the form of a question will effect people s
response to a complex event, and when two pieces of information are integrated, the

The participants were shown to a car accident film again and following with filling
out a questionnaire, among all the questions there is again one critical question
asking for a speed estimate when the car hit each other or smashed each other. In
this experiment, there are fifty participants in the control group which they were not
asked about the speed of the vehicle. After one week, the participants returned and
without re watching the film they were asked to fill out series of a questionnaire,
and among these questions, the critical question is did you see any broken glass?
The participants were asked to answer either yes or no (Loftus Plamer, 1974). In this
experiment, the verb in the critical question is the independent variable and the
answer of broken is the dependent variable.
As the result of the experiment, it appears there is an effect of the verb in estimating
whether there is a broken glass or not. Experimenters explained that when two pieces
of information are integrated, the subject has a memory of an accident that will be
more severe than in fact it was (Loftus Plamer, 1974).
Overall, this experiment is really successful and interesting yet for the second
experiment, there is a week in the middle between participants first watched the video
and come back in answering the question, in between this week there might be a

A Lecture About Salary Package And Investment
This week, we have a great honor to have Cass Chappell giving a lecture about
salary package and investment. Mr. Chappell, who is skilled in financial planning,
investment services, and insurance, is the CFP of Chappell Financial Group.
Before this class, I have never thought about investing and other factors in the
salary package. One reason is I am new here, and the other reason is I have never
thought about retirement. No one has ever told me or talked with me about
investing in retirement. I have learnt a lot from this class. Mr. Chappell told us
stock is an excellent way to get money from one company, because it means the
ownership of the company. However, it is also risky for an employee holding
stock from his or her company. Bonds are much safer investment for people. As for
mutual funds, it is one of the most exciting investments. Mutual funds have
different focuses and ranges, and small companies have more risks than big
companies. If you are sure about your retirement date, you can invest mutual funds
related to that specific date in the future. One of the biggest take away for me is
three baskets. I did not know any of them or their factors. The first basket is called
Regular . No option limitation or minimum limitation for this choice. People who
invest this basket can pull out their money at any time. Moreover, they do not need
to pay tax. The second basket is Roth . It does not have option limitation, but you
have to put at least $5,500 in your accounts. In
Canadian Law And Aboriginal Laws
Canadian law expresses the values and beliefs that Canadians up hold in society. It
aims to resolve disputes in a peaceful manner while protecting aims to protect
individuals and providing stability for society as a whole. There are many historical
origins of law that have directly or indirectly influenced Canadian law, and such they
have shaped the Canadian legal system. The most prominent ones are the British
common law, the Napoleonic Code known as civil lawand Aboriginal laws.
To begin, common law originated in Medieval England in the time of King Henry
II. The practice developed sending circuit judges from the King s central court to
travel throughout England to hear the various disputes. The aim of these courts
(assizes) was to add consistency and fairness to the legal system. Alongside the
traveling courts King Henry also established the jury system. Over time these
judges recorded the information of each case they heard as well as the decisions
and punishments that were ordered. This is known as case law or common law.
This began a justice system that relied on the principle of stare decisis or to stand by
the decision . This principle developed into the rule of precedent which was used to
apply the previous decision to a case with similar circumstance. This system was used
throughout the country and thus was known as common law. As the English began
colonizing Canada they brought their legal systems with them, which greatly
influenced today s legal system.

That s something people should think about before committing to such a life

Oprah Winfrey s career skyrocketed in the 1970s. Her first television show hosting

Heart Of Darkness Enlightenment Essay
Characters in a novel are normally not just static. They develop in myriad ways
ranging from intelligence to physical characteristics. Charles Marlow from Heart of
Darkness is one of these types of characters. Marlow s development is not like most
characters. His changes are not simple they are multidimensional. These changed
qualities add up to create an overall sense of enlightenment. What exactly is Marlow s
enlightenment is something very hard to distinguish as there multiple definitions for
enlightenment. However, Enlightenment can be best defined as a state in which one
person becomes more knowledge or more spiritually aware that is greater than
themselves. Therefore, it is possible to say that there many degrees in which a person

His partial enlightenment can be seen through his more developed intellectual self,
greater wisdom and his prejudice in the novel. The areas in which Marlow
becomes more well versed are his wisdom and the intellectual self. However with
everyone he still fails in certain areas most specifically with his prejudices. These
prejudices focus primarily on his narrow minded view of women and the
unwillingness to accept the differences in culture and the people. It is also
important to note that he realizes in some of these areas the more enlightened
view;however, he still chooses the wrong view or at least does these things for the
wrong reason. Some of these viewpoints of Marlow may have been subject to the
views in these societies. For example, women in the Victorian Age were seen as
weak housewives that stayed within the house, and For Marlow it was too much to
accept just like the true nature of the humans. Marlow s reluctance then posits that
what we choose to learn about or truly become more enlightened about is ultimately
subject to our own personal limitations and what we like to hear. The reason why it
is so hard for Marlow to accept the universal truth is because it is not what he wants
to hear. Additionally, the people surrounding us also limit who we tell this
information to because if we believe that we can not handle a

Whole Foods Competitive Strategy
Proposed activities/measures for building sustainable business mode
From the pitfall that I have found, there are several things that Whole Foods Market
needs to improve, which are organic foods and green suppliers. Start with organic
foods; although Whole Foods Market faces with high competitive in the market, they
cannot avoid or pay less attention on their practice or commitment. The company
should encourage more and provide a supportive education on green practice and
sustainable agriculture to not only organic farmers but also conventional farmers by
showing them benefits of doing sustainable agriculture. The second thing is a green
supplier that the company gives the commitment with customers. The company needs
to pay more responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The company that I chose to compare with Whole Foods Market is Walmart, which
has green sustainability practice same as Whole Foods Market. Firstly, Walmart
Company in U.S.A has engaged with the Phigenics, which is a water management
company to control their water consumption. Phigenics Company helps Walmart to
develop the process that utilizes the real time monitoring and independent
validation to make sure that water consumption is used efficiently across Walmart s
branches. It consists of a system that meets the standard for automatic sensor
monitoring, high security wireless and data, and a program handling by specialist
in water management. According to the development and implementation of this
process, the company has reduced the water consumption around 25 percent per
open recirculating system during the past six year. It is approximately about 660
million gallons of water saved (Global responsibility report, 2015). Therefore,
Whole Foods Market could improve their water management system and reducing
water consumption by this idea. Second suggestion is transportation and logistic.
Whole Foods Market also has a green mission on transportation, which is using bio
diesel in their company; however, this is another idea that I found from Walmart
Company. The company realized that although a mile per gallon acts as an
indicator of driving effectively, it does not show exactly how it could improve fuel
saving. Since, the company found that up to 30 percent of these factors such as
region, weather, and weight could easily affect fuel economy. Besides, the factors
such as increasing a use of top gear, limiting over rev, and avoiding unimportant
idling can be causes of increasing of fuel economy. Hence, from what Walmart has
learnt, the company set up a policy for their employees to follow, which

change the existing state of affairs. Throughout his essay, Gladwell refers to many
different protests throughout history and calls on the reader to discern that the

often more successful. The higher success rate in the protests without social media is
cause of strong tie phenomenon which is when people have an invested interest in
the event due to emotional bonds and face to face social connections. An example
that Gladwell uses of a successful protest was the Greensboro sit ins. Due to face to

Solar Energy s Place in the Power Industry Essay
Since when it was determined that electricity could be generated from the sun, the
power industry has taken slack for not considering it as a viable addition to their
generation fleet. However, there are two facts that need to be remembered with
respect to the power industry. The first thing to remember is that power has to be
supplied to their customers regardless of the weather or the time of day. Secondly,
power companies are just like any other company; they are in the business of making
money. Because of those two facts, solar energyat its current technological state has
no place in the power industry s current generation fleet.
The figure to the right shows the load on a normal week day during the summer.

However, the downsides to using the diesel generators are that they are most
expensive form of generation and are most harmful to the environment. If the diesel
generators still do not meet demand, a power company will buy power from
surrounding companies. If not enough power can be bought, the power company will
have to shed load or cut power to a portion of their customers to prevent a system
wide shutdown that will possibly effect neighboring utilities.
Though the trends in generation in the industry fluctuate, a power company s
generation fleet is pretty set in stone (nuclear, coal, combined cycle, natural gas and
diesel). This diversification of generation help the companies insure reliability in
their system. However if there is one area that could use significant improvement, it
would be the companies response to periods of high demand. As stated above in the
opening, a power company has two main objectives. One, serve power to all of their
customers regardless of the situation, and two, make money. Buying power from
surrounding companies and shedding load are the worst case scenario. Also, running
diesel generators are not cost effective and have no sign of getting any cheaper
considering the current situation in the gas and oil industry. Therefore, solar power
has the opportunity to fill a major void in how power companies react in peak
demand situations. However if you compare to the two graphs shown

During battle and wartime, in the experience stage, all of the frivolous emotions
and concerns are melted away as this newly realized proximity to death brings a
new appreciation for life and the truly important things. The things that truly matter
to a man may vary and some of them, such as love, fear, comfort, and compassion,
are intangible. And yet it is these intangible things and not direct orders from a
commander that drive a man onward during war. Unfortunately, war not only reveals
the innermost truths of a man s character, it also destroys his capacity for leading a

By this point we are 60 to 70 years old and ready to retire in some level of comfort
and dignity, without having to work anymore retirement and our declining years,
they say. That lasts another dozen years, give or take a decade. The level of
comfort and dignity one enjoys during those final years is measured mostly by the
wealth we have managed to accumulate during the 3 or 4 decades we toiled at those
chosen professions we spent so many years preparing for. For most of us, that
wealth consists mainly in something modern society calls a pension. Because most
of us lack the discipline, sophistication, or skills needed to set aside and invest
money during our working years, the task of accumulating pension funds is left
mainly up to our employers, who in turn hire highly specialized teams of people to
administer those pension funds. Some of them do that extremely well; others not so
much. Because not all employers offered pensions, in 1935 Congress passed
legislation authorizing the federal government to tax workers and their employers, in
exchange for guaranteeing a basic pension. That legislation was the Social Security
Act. Social Security was never intended to replace employer provided pensions, or to
discourage workers from accumulating their own retirement funds. Rather, the intent
was that Social Security would provide a guaranteed base upon which workers and
their employers could build. Employer provided pensions are not

Setting In Ernest Hemingway s Christmas 1910
Have you ever wondered why an author chooses a certain time and place in his or
her novel? You may ask, why would he/she choose this time in war or why this time
in rebuilding? An author that uses setting to support the theme very well as Ernest
Hemingway in his short story Christmas 1910 . The setting of Christmas 1910 is in
the Great Plains. At that time there were not many people living there, only a few
went to a farm and have a more peaceful life away from the cities and people.
Hemingway uses this setting to convey his theme in his novel, which is loneliness.
Which makes sense because, in the vast Great Plains, all there was at the time was
land, farms, and a little town far away. Which to some people, it can get very
lonely, such as the main character Abby. On page 26 Hemingway shows her
loneliness by writing, John Marsh wasn t looking at me anymore, though I fancied it
was something he was struggling to control. . Another supportive quote of her
loneliness is on page 31 when Hemingway wrote, trying to send some brain waves to
this outsized boy... . Finally, another big sign of Abby s loneliness is when
Hemingway wrote, Right away my vanity was kicking up. I was glad this young
man, who had a long, lank, handsome face, a little like Sam actually, had settled
himself at our nicest household possession, which was this table. And I hoped he
understood the meaning of the blue tarpaper on our walls. (Hemingway 23). What all
these quotes show is Abby s
Mechanicville Inventory
Nick DuBois

Tourism Development
Hometown Inventory Paper Mechanicville is a city, one of the smallest cities in the
area by state actually. It is located in Saratoga County, New York. More specifically,
The city is located on the eastern border of Saratoga County and is north of Albany,
the state capital. Mechanicville borders the towns of Stillwater (of which it was once
a part) and Halfmoon in the county, and the town of Schaghticoke, in Rensselaer
County. Many people describe Mechanicville as a boring, dull, nothing to do town,
but in reality Mechanicville has a very important history, and in my personal opinion
is a great place to live.
Today in Mechanicville, we celebrate the annual Family Day at Tallmadge Park
located ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the residents gather in Tallmadge park at the beginning of the day, until night
falls. It starts with a breakfast from the chamber of commerce and also mcdonalds,
and a flag raising ceremony. There are different bands that play in the band stand,
and many different tents where the locals can sell things, in a yard sale type way.
There are also rides, and many trailers that sell fair food in them such as cotton
candy, corn dogs, and fried dough. At night usually around ten, there is the annual
firework show, which lasts about a half hour. It is one of the days where
Mechanicville residents can get out and see each other and socialize with old
friends, or a great activity to bring your kids to on a hot summer July day.
Another activity they have here in Mechanicville is something called the duck derby.
Many residents of Mechanicville gather down at the docks, behind the police station
and race rubber ducks down the Hudson River and the ones that finish first get some
sort of prize. A few years ago at one of the duck derby s a local high schoolteacher
ended up creating a flash mob with a bunch of her students, something that no one
was expecting to happen. At the duck derby there is also food, and music and
usually a lot of people celebrate it, because that also takes place in the
Social Classes In The Middle Ages
The Middle Ages is one of the most famous and controversial time periods in Earth
s history. It s known for many things such as the treatment of women, the black
death, the dominance of the church in society, etc. But one of the most defining
ways of life in the Middle Ages was the separation of nobles and non nobles in
society. While the separations between upper and lower classes are still commonly
understood today, one might still ask; What exactly was the separation of nobles and
non nobles in the middle ages? Although there were some similarities between the
classes in the Middle Ages, the separation between nobles and non nobles was
tremendously accentuated by oodles of privileges and birthrights given to nobles
when none were given to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It wasn t something that was hush hush either, in fact, the unfair lives of the
peasants were very well known at the time. ... there should be equality among all
people... but that all men should be free and of one condition. (Medieval
Sourcebook: Anonimalle Chronicle... 1 2). In this passage, the leader of the peasant
revolt, Wat Tighler, lists the demands that the peasants want in exchange for ending
their revolt. While the nobles were given luxuries such as education, music, cushy
housing, etc., non nobles got nothing even close to that, and this list clearly displays
that. Supported by the labor and taxes of the peasants, the lord, and his wife would
seem to have had a comfortable life... For seven years pages were schooled in
religion, music, dancing, riding, hunting, and some reading, writing, and arithmetic...
The nobles enjoyed hunting, games, and tournaments. (Middle Ages). Nobles got
lucky opportunities to be knights, rich, powerful, etc. while the majority of peasants
lived their lives out doing basic work such as farming or blacksmithing. This
extreme difference truly separated the nobles and non nobles in that, the nobles lived
lives full of meaning and life while the majority of non nobles lived their lives in
servitude, work, and little to no

Cultural Awareness Essay. Cross-Cultural Awareness Research Analysis Essay Example Topics and ...

  • 1. Cultural Awareness Essay Composing an essay on the subject of cultural awareness presents a unique set of challenges. The intricacies involved in addressing cultural diversity, sensitivity, and understanding demand a nuanced approach that goes beyond mere factual representation. Cultures are dynamic, multifaceted, and deeply rooted in history, making it a complex task to encapsulate their essence in a coherent and respectful manner. One of the primary difficulties lies in navigating the vast array of cultural nuances without oversimplifying or generalizing. Each culture is a tapestry of traditions, beliefs, customs, and values, and capturing this richness without reducing it to stereotypes requires extensive research and a careful selection of examples. Moreover, ensuring that the essay is inclusive and does justice to the diverse spectrum of cultures adds an additional layer of complexity. Cultural awareness also involves addressing the challenges and conflicts that arise when different cultures intersect. Balancing the celebration of diversity with an acknowledgment of potential misunderstandings or conflicts requires a delicate touch. Writers must be attuned to the potential pitfalls of cultural appropriation, ethnocentrism, or bias, striving for an objective and unbiased perspective. Crafting a culturally aware essay involves not only understanding the subject matter but also possessing the skill to communicate effectively. The language used must be respectful, and the tone should foster an atmosphere of openness and acceptance. Striking this balance is no easy feat, as writers must constantly be vigilant of potential pitfalls that could inadvertently perpetuate stereotypes or reinforce cultural biases. In conclusion, writing a cultural awareness essay is a challenging endeavor that demands a combination of research, sensitivity, and effective communication. It requires a commitment to portraying cultures accurately while avoiding the pitfalls of oversimplification and bias. Successfully navigating these challenges can lead to a thought-provoking and enlightening essay that fosters a deeper understanding of the rich tapestry of human cultures. In Maryland there are strict requirements for vaccinating children for school entry. I worked for Prince George s County and Baltimore County Health Department. In the state of Maryland many children each year are out compliance and therefore are not allowed to attend schooluntil the requirements are satisfied. • 5. Differences In Blue Penguin By Dr. Seuss And Blue Penguins Discrimination has been present in society since ancient times. Discrimination is the theme of the books, The Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss and Blue Penguin by Petr HorГЎДЌek. These two books with a difference of more than fifty years show us, as some of its characters, Blue Penguin from the book Blue penguin, and a group of plain belly Sneetches from the book The Sneetches and Other Stories are similarly discriminated, but they face the situation differently. Blue penguin accepts himself and the plain belly Sneetches, unlike the blue penguin, try to be like the star belly Sneetches. The story of the Sneetches and the story of the Blue penguin are both charming. One was written in 1961 and the other in 2015. Both stories with their wonderful characters teach us about the influence of discrimination. The sneetches made a mistake trying to change their appearances to fit in the society in which they lived but in the end, both stories showed that it is never too late to change and begin to accept others and more important to accept ourselves. On the other hand, there is the story of the blue penguin who was a strong penguin but he was constantly discriminated by the other penguins to the point of wanting to leave the South Pole. Blue Penguin never wanted to change its appearance or its way of being, unlike the sneetches he always accepted himself. as a result, the other penguins had to accept him the way he was. In the book Blue penguin , Petr HorГЎДЌek
  • 6. Benchmade Rivalry Analysis of Porters five industry forces on Benchmade Introducing a new product or service into a marketplace requires more than just a great idea. Companies are often enamored with new product ideas that would appear to be unlimited in its ability to capture a market. However, limits do exist and failure to properly conduct market research could lead to a failed product introduction. Enabling analysis of a market to determine the level of competition requires the use of Porter s five industry forces; the character of rivalry, the threat of new entrants, the threat of substitute products or services, the bargaining power of suppliers, and the bargaining power of buyers (Williams 2017). Rivalry among competitors is a normal part of the business environment and should be expected in any market. However, understanding the character of the rivalry, or how intense the behavior is of the companies competing in that industry, is the first of Porter s five industry forces (Williams 2017). As an example, in 1988 Benchmade Knife Company was founded by Les de Asis in California, producing fixed blade and folding knives. As a sporting knife manufacturer, Benchmade competitors included; Buck, KA BAR, Case, Gerber, Kershaw, Syderco, SOG, Columbia River Knife Tool (CRKT), Cold Steel. • 9. Frederick Douglass And Anne Moody In 1619, when the first Africans were brought into Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the production of crops on the farms of Caucasian landowners, a period in our country s dark history began, and with it a struggle for equality and freedom. For over 200 years, slavery consumed the United States, compelling blacks to long and later fight for the freedom their fair skinned counterparts had stripped from them. Decades later, the oppression of black rights marked the beginning of another struggle; one for basic rights that the black population had been denied. During these struggles, several names would come to mind for their achievements and efforts against racism and slavery, names like Frederick Douglass and Anne Moody. Frederick Douglass paved his own road to freedom while Anne Moody put her life on the line fighting for the rights that she knew she deserved. Although time frames apart, both Frederick Douglass and Anne Moody were able to resist and fight racism due to their thirst for knowledge, the help they extended towards other blacks, and their faith in succeeding despite previous failures. Although Frederick Douglass was a slave and Anne Moody a free woman with a century between them, both were able to defy racism by making the most of their education. Slaves were not expected to read or write, and even after the abolition of slavery, blacks were thought to be uneducated and unintelligent. Frederick Douglass, upon receiving only a short period of instruction from his

That means that one in nine people do not have enough food to live a healthy lifestyle. This is the biggest problem affecting a considerable amount of the human population. The selfishness and yearn for excess is what is continuing starvation. Hunger could be solved at any point in time if everyone came together to support efforts. • 22. The Myth Of Black Holes For years black holes have been the work of science fiction, but a new development says that black holes are not just a mere myth, but that they lurk in the darkness in space. Black holes do exist because we have observed them, scientists have tested them, and they are remnants of giant stars. Black holes are a section of space where the mass of several billion of our sun s (depending on the size of the star) is crushed into a very small section. This causes the gravity to be so strong, even light cannot escape. This means that there is no reflected light, hence the name Black Holes. Though they are black and naked to the eye, special telescopes can find them. They search for areas of deep space where there are deep gravitational influences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When this happens several things can happen depending on the size and mass of the star. Take our Sun for example, when it grows old it will enlarge into a Red Giant, then it will shrink into a White Dwarf. This is one of the more Peaceful options. (It will engulf Mercury and Mars when it is a Red Giant and make life on Earth very hot.) However if the star has a very large mass, at least 1.4 times the mass of our sun, it will explode in a supernova casting away most of the star s mass. Leaving only the core, the core will begin to collapse, only this time it can t explode with no fuel left. So it shrinks to a tiny size but it retains its same mass and is extremely dense. Edward Rayne says [after] the star s collapse it will continue to shrink until the matter is all compressed into an infinitely small, infinitely dense point called a singularity. This is the centre of a black hole. This is when the black hole forms. In conclusion Black Holes are not Sci Fi anymore, because we can observe them, they give off gamma rays which traces back to black holes, and they come from stars with large mass. Though they were once thought to be the work of Sci Fi writers we now know that they are really out there, nomading their way. But even though they seem all powerful (and they are to some matter), they too have to follow the laws of gravity and can t just barge into our galaxy. So we don t have to worry about some random black hole swallowing us. But if it did come and

First, they questioned whether the changing verb in a questionabout speed would effect people s estimation adding on to the first question they asked does the leading question produces a demand characteristic or the question actually causes a person s memoryto change (Loftus Plamer, 1974). Build on to the questions, they came up with two hypotheses, first the form of a question will effect people s response to a complex event, and when two pieces of information are integrated, the subject... In this experiment, there are fifty participants in the control group which they were not asked about the speed of the vehicle. After one week, the participants returned and without re watching the film they were asked to fill out series of a questionnaire, and among these questions, the critical question is did you see any broken glass? The participants were asked to answer either yes or no (Loftus Plamer, 1974). In this experiment, the verb in the critical question is the independent variable and the answer of broken is the dependent variable. As the result of the experiment, it appears there is an effect of the verb in estimating whether there is a broken glass or not. Experimenters explained that when two pieces of information are integrated, the subject has a memory of an accident that will be more severe than in fact it was (Loftus Plamer, 1974). Overall, this experiment is really successful and interesting yet for the second experiment, there is a week in the middle between participants first watched the video and come back in answering the question, in between this week there might be a history threats to the internal

Mr. Chappell, who is skilled in financial planning, investment services, and insurance, is the CFP of Chappell Financial Group. Before this class, I have never thought about investing and other factors in the salary package. One reason is I am new here, and the other reason is I have never thought about retirement. No one has ever told me or talked with me about investing in retirement. I have learnt a lot from this class. Mr. Chappell told us stock is an excellent way to get money from one company, because it means the ownership of the company. However, it is also risky for an employee holding stock from his or her company. Bonds are much safer investment for people. As for mutual funds, it is one of the most exciting investments. Mutual funds have different focuses and ranges, and small companies have more risks than big companies. If you are sure about your retirement date, you can invest mutual funds related to that specific date in the future. One of the biggest take away for me is three baskets. I did not know any of them or their factors. The first basket is called Regular . No option limitation or minimum limitation for this choice. People who invest this basket can pull out their money at any time. Moreover, they do not need to pay tax. The second basket is Roth . It does not have option limitation, but you have to put at least $5,500 in your accounts. In

It aims to resolve disputes in a peaceful manner while protecting aims to protect individuals and providing stability for society as a whole. There are many historical origins of law that have directly or indirectly influenced Canadian law, and such they have shaped the Canadian legal system. The most prominent ones are the British common law, the Napoleonic Code known as civil lawand Aboriginal laws. To begin, common law originated in Medieval England in the time of King Henry II. The practice developed sending circuit judges from the King s central court to travel throughout England to hear the various disputes. The aim of these courts (assizes) was to add consistency and fairness to the legal system. Alongside the traveling courts King Henry also established the jury system. Over time these judges recorded the information of each case they heard as well as the decisions and punishments that were ordered. This is known as case law or common law. This began a justice system that relied on the principle of stare decisis or to stand by the decision . This principle developed into the rule of precedent which was used to apply the previous decision to a case with similar circumstance. This system was used throughout the country and thus was known as common law. As the English began colonizing Canada they brought their legal systems with them, which greatly influenced today s legal system.

If the diesel generators still do not meet demand, a power company will buy power from surrounding companies. If not enough power can be bought, the power company will have to shed load or cut power to a portion of their customers to prevent a system wide shutdown that will possibly effect neighboring utilities. Though the trends in generation in the industry fluctuate, a power company s generation fleet is pretty set in stone (nuclear, coal, combined cycle, natural gas and diesel). This diversification of generation help the companies insure reliability in their system. That lasts another dozen years, give or take a decade. The level of comfort and dignity one enjoys during those final years is measured mostly by the wealth we have managed to accumulate during the 3 or 4 decades we toiled at those chosen professions we spent so many years preparing for. For most of us, that wealth consists mainly in something modern society calls a pension. Because most of us lack the discipline, sophistication, or skills needed to set aside and invest money during our working years, the task of accumulating pension funds is left mainly up to our employers, who in turn hire highly specialized teams of people to administer those pension funds. Some of them do that extremely well; others not so much. Because not all employers offered pensions, in 1935 Congress passed legislation authorizing the federal government to tax workers and their employers, in exchange for guaranteeing a basic pension. That legislation was the Social Security Act. Social Security was never intended to replace employer provided pensions, or to discourage workers from accumulating their own retirement funds.
