Sally Hansen s Insta-Dri Fast Dry Nail Color Advertisement...
Cosmopolitan is a women s magazine for fashion, sex advice, dating tips and celebrity news.
This magazine has been around since 1886, but it had a totally different concept, until 1965.
When it was first launched in 1886 by Paul Schlicht, it was considered a family magazine. It
wasn t until 1965 when a woman by the name of Helen Brown took over the magazine in seeking
somewhere women could go to get advice on various topics. Now the magazine is being run by
Kate White, Editor in Chief. Because Cosmo contains explicit information that is not advised to
people under eighteen, its demographic is women who are at the ages of eighteen and older, Some
grocery stores have to cover it up because of the complaints of its sexually explicit... Show more

One ad that was found in this magazine is an advertisement for Sally Hansen Insta Dri Fast Dry
Nail Color. The ad for Sally Hansen Insta Dri Fast Dry Nail Color caught my eye because it uses
an intriguing analogous color scheme, of magenta and deep purple. The ad shows a female s hand
with nails that have shiny flashy fuchsia polish and she seems to be buckling her shoe. She has
on a flirty peep toe purple heel and has uptempo purple nail polish on her toenails. The ad
captives the reader with its catch line of Nail Color Newsflash. One Stroke. One Coat. Done.
This slogan explains that with one stroke of the brush that one will have full coverage of the nail
polish on your nail. The ad also says that one coat, which means that with one coat ones nail with
be fully covered with nail polish. The ad also gives in more details of the advantages of the Nail
Color, such as the one stroke application, one coat coverage, and that it dries in just 60 seconds.
The ad shows the twenty four shades of nail colors for this brand. This is one of the many products
made by Sally Hansen. Sally Hansen is known for their beauty products. When advertising their
products they use the slogan, Beauty that Works. They have a wide variety of products that help
with body, hands, lips, feet, face, and hair removal. Sally Hansen has a three page advertising

Sodium Chloride Lab
Sodium Chloride is added to the ice to lower the melting point of the ice, which is called ionic
dissociation. The sodium chloride is added to the ice in the larger bag in order to keep the
dissolving ice from becoming room temperature. Sodium chloride keeps the ice/ slush at a low
temperature that allows the ice/slush to start chilling the cream and milk which is located in the
smaller bag. The freezing point drops to about 10 degrees Celsius. This allowed the ice/ slush to
remain cold at a low temperature. The sodium chloride prevents hydrogen bonds and keeps the
water molecules solid. This is called freezing point depression. This is one of the colligative
properties of science. Without the temperature dropping, the ice/ slush would not remain cold and
crystals would not be able to form in the smaller bag. The crystals create the ice cream s texture.
The solution with the sodium chloride interferes with the production of crystals. The heat... Show

Then, when about 8 minutes passed, the ice became mostly slush and water. I felt that it was
still at a cold temperature. I noticed how larger crystals were forming in the bag with the milk
and cream. It had a thick texture. The sodium chloride kept the ice/ slush cold in order to freeze
the milk and cream in the bag. I noticed how cold the bag became when more salt was added.
The salt, when put in the bag, sped up the speed of the reaction occurring. I felt the bag become
increasingly colder and even when we put a towel on the bag, this did not affect the reaction. The
heat the towel gave off was not enough to slow down the reaction occurring. The ice cream froze
evenly for the most part. When my group took the small bag out that contained the milk and
cream, I could see the very large crystals that formed during the reaction. Since they were large
crystals, the ice cream did not melt quickly when I was enjoying

Genetic Predictions in the Fruit Fly

Genetic Predictions in the Fruit Fly The Drosophila melanogaster is a fruit fly with a very short
life cycle. They can be winged or wingless, and have red eyes or white eyes. The different options
are called alleles. Alleles are the variants of a specific gene, and one is received from each parent
on each chromosome. ( What Are Dominant and Recessive? ). It was chosen to use winged
females and wingless males to predict the offspring in this experiment. The winged allele is
dominant, meaning it only needs one allele to physically appear. The wingless allele is recessive,
which gets covered up by the dominant allele ( Fruit Fly Genetics ). Each trait has two alleles in

Benjamin Franklin s Influence On American History
Discoveries, Historical Events and Evolution took place mostly in the eighteenth century. Benjamin
Franklin was one of the many people to discover new outcomes in science experiments, take part of
important historical events in the newborn America and was the main reason why America evolved
as an Independent Nation today. The thirteen colonies was ruled by the British in the eighteenth
century. These colonies were located along the eastern coast of America. The colonies started at
New Hampshire and ended in Georgia. Benjamin was born on January 6, 1706, in Boston,
Massachusetts. Education in his early life ended by the age of ten. By the age of twelve, he went

In the1740 s, one of Ben s english correspondents gave the Library of Philadelphia an electrical
machine for the whole city to use. Since they received this donation, Ben and a couple of his friends
began to take interest in electricity because that machine gave such a great amount of curiosity to
all philadelphians. Franklin wrote a book on his studies on electricity in 1751, this copy went
through three different languages including english. One of his experiments on electricity was
trying to identify the difference between thunderbolts and electricity. Ben flew a kite in a dangerous
thunderstorm in france on June tenth, 1752. With the help of his son, William, they hooked up his
kite to a silk string, tying an metal key to where the bolt would strike it. Ben s educated guess was
that the lightning itself was an electrical phenomenon, and the electrical effect of the lightning bolt
striking it might be able to transfer to another object. Also the causes and effects in the experiment
could be recognized as electricity. Concluding this experiment, it successfully showed that the
energy from the bolt was static energy. Ben grew more popularity conducting this

Separation Of Government Power
The founding founders, of the United States of America, had the foresight to understand that a
government s power should not be absolute and unchecked. With this in mind, they wrote the
Constitution to account for this. They divided the government into three branches with a different
function for each branch. The provisions of this are written in the first three Articles of the
Constitution. These Articles established a separation of power by dividing powers between the
following three branches: the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch.
The goal of dividing powers is to ensure that each branch of government is not more powerful than
the other. It also ensures that each branch is accountable to the other branch (The White, n.d.).
This is done through checks and balances where a branch can allow or deny the action of another
branch. The legislative Branch is covered under Article I. The Executive Branch is covered by
Article II. Article III covers the Legislative Powers.
The Legislative Branch is established by Article I. Its function is to enact legislation. This means
that this branch creates and processes laws. It is made up of a House of Representatives and a
Senate, and together they are known as Congress. Here are some highlights of what ... Show more

A social policy is a public policy and practice in the areas of health care, human services, criminal
justice, education, and labor. (Malcolm Wiener Centre) In European Union, it has passed a long way
to seeking adopt a common social policy and social welfare agenda among the E.U. member

In the European level, EU are also did a lot of work trying to leading member states participate

activates. This has given to the control measures that are based on voluntarism, education and the

The book that i read was Friday Night Lights a town, a team, and a dream by Buzz Bissinger.
The movie was the 2004 film. Now the book is way better than the movie. It gives a closer look
at some of players and it goes more in depth on how football is everything for the town odessa. In
that way the book version helps the story being told.n contrast, Ivory is ruled by his nonchalant
attitude toward football. Ivory loves the sport, but hates the pressure that comes along with it.

Deception In A Scandal In Bohemia
Wit is defined as mental sharpness or inventiveness. In the Victorian age, women were supposed to
be inferior to men which is why this story is intriguing. In the short story , A Scandal In Bohemia ,
Conan uses the character Irene to portray how deception in one s character is commonly
overlooked, even by people who think there is nobody better than themselves.
During the Victorian era, there were gender and class issues. These play a huge part in A Scandal
In Bohemia . Conan wrote this story around the late 1800s and early 1900s. In England, men were
considered the man of the house, and women were to stay at home. Also, princes were to marry
royal and not break the royal bloodline. That was their standards.
Holmes is too smart for his own good. He could never love anyone more than he loves his work.
While his best friend, Watson, is very social and outgoing, ...Holmes...loathes every form of
society with his whole Bohemian soul... (Doyle 3). Holmes did more observing than creating real
relationships with people because he sees through everyone, and nobody deems worthy in his eyes.
This is why his piqued interest in Irene is peculiar.

She refrained from being the stereotype for women in the Victorian age. Adler had a life for herself
without a husband. She was a single woman with a singing career and was a Prima Donna before
her current husband became present in her life. Irene outshone her society s gender expectations.
Irene also challenged class issues in this short story. Irene s ...moral integrity in refusing to give into
the King s demands is sharply contrasted with the king s own selfish class consciousness, which
values position over ethics (Maunder 123). Not giving the king the picture puts Irene in a position
that tests class problems. She refuses authority essentially. The king is more worried about ruining
his reputation as king than admitting he had an affair with

Jane Long, also known as the mother of Texas, is one of the most important historical figures of

one to her mother dying just a few short years later. Jane was a tenacious woman, when she set her
mind on doing something she would always follow through with it.
Jane met her husband James, a physician, when he had traveled into Natchez to help as a surgeon
at the battle of New Orleans. They soon fell in love and wanted to get married , but Barbara, Jane s
sister said no because she felt they were too young. But, both Jane and James were steadfast on

Only twelve days after she gave birth to Rebecca, she joined James which made her one of the

Essay On The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall
The Jilting of Granny Weatherall is a short story were a jaunty, cachectic, aged, dying women is
forced to contend with all her past failures and fears, self defining and societal. The thing that
made the story more thought provoking and difficult to follow is that it is told from a point of
view of Granny who in her illness is mentally aware at times and disordered in others causing her
to speak or inwardly express random, abrupt, past and present thoughts, and future desired
experiences which she openly shares with her doctor, priest, familymembers, God and her

mortality, role, and loss of time to express herself to her beloved George or Hapsy which causes

The Paris Peace Accord
The Paris Peace Accords were negotiated between the United States and North Vietnam on January
1973. It was intended to establish peace in Vietnam and end the Vietnam War. The United States
would end any direct U.S. military involvement, and it temporarily stopped the fighting between
North and South Vietnam. The settlement included a cease fire throughout Vietnam. In addition, the
United States agreed to the withdrawal of all U.S. troops and advisors and the permanent
deactivation all of the U.S. bases within 60 days. In return, the North Vietnamese agreed to release
all U.S. and foreign prisoners of war. Vietnam is a country running on the eastside of the Indochina.
The Vietnamese fought French rule in the First Indochina War, eventually expelling the French in
1954. Vietnam was became divided politically into two rival states, North and South Vietnam.
Conflict between the two sides intensified, with heavy intervention from the United States, in what
is known as the Vietnam War. The communists attacked South Vietnamese targets during the 1968
Tet Offensive. Although the campaign failed militarily, it was a huge shock to the American
establishment, and turned the United States public opinion against the war. With the increasing
casualty count, rising domestic opposition to the war, and growing international condemnation, the
United States began withdrawing from ground combat roles in the early 1970s. This process also

Throughout History, Poetry Has Evolved To Fit The Needs
Throughout history, poetry has evolved to fit the needs of the poet. Typically, scholars categorize
writings in time periods that often reflect similar ideals between writers. The Age of the
Romantics, can be viewed as a literary movement in which writers appear to have a similar driving
force behind writing. Two important authors during this Age of the Romantics are William
Wordsworthand William Blake. Although both Blake and Wordsworth are considered to be writers
from the Romantic literary period, they have contrasting beliefs on what it means to be a poet and
the poets function in society. For starters, Blake argues that people must not be limited to their
senses. One of Blake s chief arguments is that humanity is hindered when they... Show more content

He believes that people fail to use the imagination and then fail to transcend what their senses can
tell them is real. He explains in There Is No Natural Religion that, He who sees the Infinite in all
things sees God. He who sees the Ratio only sees himself only (117). Blake truly believed that
humanity needs to see more than just science and things that can be proven, he really believed in
the power of imagination. To Blake, he saw imagination as a portal to messages from a higher
power namely God. By contrast, Wordsworth takes a completely different approach to poetry
where he relief heavily on his senses. Wordsworth relied on his senses to produce images that he
could then use to produce his poetry. Wordsworth describes, I have said that poetry is the
spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in
tranquility (303). He continues, Now, if nature be thus cautious in preserving in a state of
enjoyment a being thus employed, the poet ought to profit by the lesson thus held forth to him
(303). These lines indicate the chief mission Wordsworth find himself on when writing poetry.
Thus, because nature can produce such feelings in the poet, the poet must therefore rely heavily
on what he sees. In order for him to have powerful feelings to recollect on he must first have a
visual aid to send him into this spontaneous overflow. This is one of the core differences between
Blake and

How Hooke’s Law Has Led to Advancements in Respiratory...
Everyday amazing things happen in the human body. One of the things that happens is the way
we take a breath, how we are able to use that breath to sustain life. As a breath is taken in, there s
many different physical and gas laws that take place to allow it to happen. With Hooke s law I
will be discussing what it is, how it relates to respiratory care, and the medical advances it may
include. Hooke s law was named after the man that discovered it in 1660. Robert Hooke was a
17th century physicist who discovered the relationship between the forces applied to a spring and
elasticity. He published his book in 1678 that included the description of his work. Hooke s law
states that any elastic body, like a spring is acted on by a unit of... Show more content on

Once the limits have been reached, there is very little or no change that will occur in the
response to any pressure change. This is figured out by using the equation of change in pressure
and the change in volume. (Jardins, 2013) By using this equation it will help figure out how
compliant the lungs are. This is critical in figuring lung dysfunctions and developing care for a
patient. One of the major diseases that lowers the elastance of the lung and the most preventable
is Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD is categorized with an increase of
airway resistance and the loss of lung elasticity. As a restriction in airflow develops, it leads to the
hyperinflation of the alveoli. Some other diseases that are caused by low elastic conditions and is
related to Hooke s law are traumatic chest injuries, pneumonia, pneumothorax, pleural effusion,
acute respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary edema, and interstitial lung disease. All of the
disease and/or illness s cause the pressure volume curve to slide to the right very quickly and
allows the lung elastic properties to decrease significantly. (Jardins, 2013) Hooke s law is directly
related to the use of mechanical ventilation. If when a patient is placed on a mechanical ventilation,
you can exceed the limitations cause by the lower elastance of the lung. A severe type of
pneumothorax can occur in people who need mechanical assistance to breathe. The action of the

Breastfeeding Should Be Allowed In Public
Breastfeeding is natural and breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants. Breastfeeding
helps babies to fight infections, prevent allergies and diarrhea, and protects against several chronic
conditions, breast milk contains antibodies that help infants fight off viruses and bacteria, and is
easy for an infants stomach to digest. Also, breastfeedinghelps the infant and the mother to bond
and it can help the mothers to lose extra calories fast, which they gained during pregnancy.
However, breastfeeding in public tends to be controversial, and breastfeeding mothers are forced
to use the public bathroom to feed their babies. If anyone of us can have our lunch or dinner in
public, why shouldn t a breastfed baby has the same rights? And who wants to have lunch in the
bathroom? Women should breastfeed anywhere except in the bathroom. women have a legal right
to breastfeed her babies in public, and women s breast is created to nurture babies. People argue
breastfeeding in public is indecent exposure and unconformable to those who are watching a
mother nursing a child. Breastfeeding in public shouldn t bother other people because it is
unrealistic to expect mothers to feed their babies in places like bathrooms.

The Rorschach Inkblot Test Was Developed By Hermann Rorschach
The Rorschach Inkblot Test was developed by Hermann Rorschach in 1921 in his book
Psychodiagnostik. However, despite finally accomplishing his goal of publishing his now
infamous Inkblot Test, he died the following year. Rorschach s inkblots were created by hand
and he experimented with forty inkblots to begin his research. However, he later revised it
down to the ten we know today. Inkblots were a common phenomenon in Rorschach s childhood
because there were numerous games and party tricks using inkblots. So it is not a surprise to
find that Rorschach would use such a technique in his projective testing. Likewise, he and his
father were artistic, which played a large role in Rorschach s creation of such stimuli. (Chapter 2)
The Inkblot Test was later adopted by American psychologists by word of mouth due to there
being no written translation of Psychodianostik in English until 1942. Samuel Beck and Bruno
Klopfer were the two psychologists most popular for their modernization of the Rorschach scoring
system. Klopfer was a research assistant from Berlin who was able to administer the Rorschach, so
he taught Beck and his colleague Marguerite Hertz the administration of the test. Throughout this
era of the Rorschach and leading up to the publication of the Exner System by John Exner in 1974,
the Rorschach was a highly disputed and criticized form of assessment by many. Exner s System
integrated the five existing scoring systems created after Rorschach s death. Exner s

An Argument for GMO s in Foods Essay
One of my favorite episodes of the television show, quot; The Simpsons quot;, begins with Marge,
the mother, serving her family a dinner of unusually large, genetically modified foods. Shortly
after dinner is served, one of the potatoes eats a carrot. Although this example is comedic
hyperbole, it is still an excellent illustration of the public perception of genetically modified
organisms (GMOs) as dangerous quot;Frankenfoods quot;. This perception is out of touch with
the reality of GMOs and runs contrary to a large body of scientific evidence that indicates that
GMOs are safe for people and our environment. In this paper I will be focusing my attention on

As long as Bt and non Bt are crops are segregated and planted adequate distances away from each
other, they will pollinate themselves well before Bt pollen arrives via wind or insects. The same
EPA report concludes that, in the United States, the transfer of genes to wild species is also
quite low. For Bt corn and potatoes the risk is essentially zero since wild varieties do not exist
here. Bt cotton is also grown in the U.S., and in Southern Florida and Hawaii where wild varieties
exist the EPA has banned Bt cotton cultivation. Thus, limiting the planting of Bt crops to areas
where they have no native relatives negates the problem. The other major environmental concern,
that Bt toxins pose a threat to non target (species other than the pests which are trying to be
eliminated and/or controlled) invertebrate and microbe species is similarly unfounded. EPA, 2001
concluded that: Bt [proteins] have been tested against a wide variety of terrestrial and aquatic
invertebrates including earthworms, collembola, daphnids, insect predators and parasites, spiders,
and honeybees and have been shown to have a high degree of safety for these non target
organisms. In most cases, no adverse effects were observed even though test populations were
exposed to levels of toxin in excess of 500 1,000 fold concentrations than they would be expected
to encounter under field conditions. This low risk to non target species contrasts sharply with broad

result Carmen she purchased a used sewing machine for $1,800 cash on May 1.
The investors asked Carmen to provide a financial report covering March 1st June 30th. Upon
review of this information, Carmen gathered the following. Customers paid $7,400 in cash for
ribbons and accessories, but she was still owed $320 for a transaction on June 30. A part time
employee was still owed $90 after being paid $1,510. Rent was paid in cash at the end of each
month. Inventory replenishments costing $2,900 had been delivered and paid for by June 30.
Carmen estimated the June 30th merchandise inventory on hand had cost $4,100. Opening office
supplies were almost all gone with an estimated $20 in supplies was left.
Carmen did not know why Ribbons an Bows cash on June 30 was $3,390, which was less than
the April 1 balance of $4,000. She also had trouble accounting for the following in her financial
report. No interest had been paid on the investors loan. Related expenditures on the sewing
machine and her computer could prove to have estimated useful lives of 5 and 2 years
respectively with no resale value. She did not know how to account for the free legal work and
cash register provided. She also had not paid herself dividends for the four months of operations. If

How Dramtically Affected My Reading Life
1. If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all (by
Oscar Wilde). Originally, I disliked reading, but soon did I realize that the only reason I despised
reading was because I kept reading the wrong type of books. By reading a wide selection of
different types of books this year, it really opened up my eyes. In other words, by reviewing
numerous amount of books, it has impacted me by making me realize that a bookis just more then
thousands of words and hundreds of pages. But instead a story that has dramtically impacted me
and how i can look upon situations. That being said, by reading and viewing many different books,
it has changed my outlook on how I judge relating to reading and books. As previously stated by
reading a lot of books, it has impacted my reading life. What I mean by this is for as long as I could
remember reading was not for me because I would only read very few books and all would bore me
to death. However, the selection of books that I read this year impacted my reading life by
making me way more interested to read on and overall be way more greedy to read. For example,
the book The Dead and The Gone by Susan Beth Pfeffer made me love reading, and also made me

The Key Dimensions Of Contracts Essay
Introduction
The pre eminent procedural character of a contract is that there are essential elements that must be
present for it to be legally binding. Australian contract law is largely attributable to the common law
principles albeit various statutes have blossomed to supplement the substance of common law and
doctrines of equity. The law of Contract pervades the day to day social and economic activities that
have been accentuated by a precipitously burgeoning firmament of electronic commerce. At the
outset, this has significantly given rise to enormous complexities within the panoply of contract law.
Ideally, there are various forms of contract that attract legal attention. It is apt to early state that this
paper seeks, for all intents and purposes to explore the key dimensions of contracts by electronic
means.
Electronic Contracts
Contracts by electronic means are commonly referred to paperless contracts, figuratively. They
can be defined as agreements created in digital form without the traditional use of a pen and
paper. The dividing line between electronic contracts and the traditional form of contract is very
thin. They are arguably governed by the general rules of offer and acceptance applicable in
contract law and accepted both internationally and by Australian law. Conversely, a contract
formed electronically is treated like a paper agreement and is legally valid if the contract can easily
be retrieved for future references after the execution and the parties

The Pros And Cons Of The Keystone Pipeline

You wake up one day but everything seems odd. Its freezing cold in your house and you wonder

is looking for medicine because she is extremely sick but there is no medicine that she can find
to help her. Do you know why, it s because this is how our future will look like if we have
nothing efficient enough to transport the oil that we use in almost everything to us.Therefore we
believe the U.S should build the Keystone Pipeline XL because doing so will provide more jobs
and increase tax revenue, oil is extremely essential for daily life and the keystone will help to
transport our oil easier and safer.
The Keystone Pipeline will provide jobs for the U.S. Since the Keystone Pipeline requires a lot
of help and work to be done, that means it will require a lot of workers to help build it. If we do
complete the keystone pipeline xl there is an estimated 138.4 million in annual property tax. That
money can be used for schools churches and activity centers which therefore will create more jobs.

An Auteurist Critique of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Wes Anderson is a world renowned filmmaker known for creating vividly colorful films that are
consistent with his auteur signature. Though he has only directed 7 films (not including his
upcoming film and two short films), he is a perfect example of how even a small body of work
can demonstrate auteur theory. Anderson s films have frequent themes, visual and methodological
style and he even uses a lot of the same actors in most of his films. The Life Aquatic with Steve
Zissou (2004) is a great example to demonstrate Wes Andersons stylistic use of pastel color
schemes, symmetrical shot composition, and thematic use of story elements such as trust,

When confronted by a reporter aboard his ship about his latest documentary, Steve resorts to
childish name calling instead of accepting the fact that his opinion is not the only opinion. Steve
Zissou shows no hesitation risking his own life and that of his crew when searching for a
mysterious shark that ate his friend and fellow colleague. Anderson commonly uses family
issues as a thematic device in all of his films. Steve Zissou s long forgotten son, Ned Plimpton,
suddenly shows up to a screening of Steve s documentary, and shortly after they begin a deep
search for a real relationship. This relationship is short lived, however, due to Steve s neglect to
replace the old helicopter atop the Belafonte. Near death experiences are very common in
Anderson s films, Sam Shakusky being struck by lightning in Moonrise Kingdom, and Francis
near death experience in The Darjeeling Limited (2007) are two examples. In the case of The
Life Aquatic the whole crew aboard the Belafonte comes face to face with their death. While
carelessly lounging in the onboard spa, Steve inadvertently lets his ship be taken over by pirates.
Steve (and his ego) take it upon himself to save the crew single handedly. At this point in the film,
the cinematography takes a different turn than what is usually portrayed by Anderson. Wes
Anderson is known for his use of the camera stylistically. His films are

Childhood Asthma And Its Relations
Childhood Asthma and its Relations to Traffic Related Air Pollutants
2. Introduction (300 word to 350 words) 359
Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that is not to be underestimated; it affects approximately
12.1% of children in the United States (English et al. 2006). Asthma is particularly concerning and
threatening to children for multiple reasons, one being the anatomy of children. Asthma has no cure
however there are some ways to treat asthma. If gone untreated, asthma could be deadly. Many
causes of asthma cannot be exterminated however they can be reduced. Air pollution, being one of
them, is something that many people may consider to be unavoidable, but in reality it is an
unfortunate result of a luxury that the majority of the population consider a necessity.
Asthma causes inflammation of the airways and the bronchi of the lungs. This in turn causes a
decrease in oxygen uptake leading to the common asthma symptoms of shortness of breath,
coughing and wheezing, and chest pain (Erzurum et al. 2006). In severe cases, if the airways
haven t gone back to normal, lips can become blue due to lack of oxygen. If this occurs, it is
imperative to seek immediate medical attention. The anatomy of children is different than adults in
that practically everything is smaller. The main anatomical differences that have to do with asthma
are that children have smaller and shorter airways, a larger tongue, a longer and floppier epiglottis,
and a funnel shaped trachea. All of

Movie Summary
The movie Black Hawk Down is based on a true story. It takes place in Somalia in October of
1993. A warlord by the name of Mohamed Farrah Aidid seized control of Mogadishu, the capital
city of Somalia. He accomplished this by capturing shipments of international food supplies at the
ports and used hunger as his weapon. More than 300,000 Somalians died by starvation. The United
States responded by sending in Delta Force, U.S. Army Rangers, and the 160TH Special
Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) to capture Mohamed. It was a mission that was to only last

You can see how SSG Eversmen does not agree with the answer they got. His reaction brought
forth the principle of utility also known as the greatest happiness principle. This principle states,
when choosing a course of action, always pick the one that will maximize happiness and minimize
unhappiness for the greatest number of people (Rosenstand, p.232). In SSG Eversmen s eyes,
intervening would have maximized the happiness of those starving by allowing them to get to eat
and saving them from getting shot.
Another moral issue that appears is during a conversation between Staff Sergeant Eversmen and a
few of his brothers in arms. The platoon s lieutenant is reading a book about Somalian culture and
is laughing about some of the things he is reading. One of the sergeants tells the lieutenant that
Staff Sergeant Eversmen likes the Somalian people. Staff Sergeant Eversmen explains it s not a
matter of liking them or not liking them, he is just trying to better understand them. This points out
one of the six problems of ethical relativism. The problem is not criticizing or praising cultures. In
other words, we have no right to criticize other cultures, period (Rosenstand, p.131). Staff Sergeant
Eversmen was trying to be understanding of not just the Somalian culture, but also, the civil war
they were in the middle of.
A final moral issue happens when one of Staff Sergeant Eversmen s good friends, Sergeant Smith,

Prior to the passing of the Affordable Care Act, government interventions existed but none as
intrusive and omnipresent as those in the ACA. Although, previously, fewer government intrusions
existed, the healthcare industry and health insurance companies in the United States were still

Great Del Close Influence On Improvisational Theatre
There are five simple rules to improv, follow these rules and more than just the art changes, your
life changes. Improvisational comedy has been around far longer than most people suspect, it
can be traced back to the days of Commedia Dell Arte. This style of theatre was popular
throughout Europe for almost 200 years starting in the mid 1500s. Performers would travel
building makeshift stages and create dialog and plot lines on the spot. Later, Keith Johnstone and
Viola Spolin would re invent the art into what we see today on shows such as Who s Line is it

The Development Of The Self And The Ability Of Form...
The development of the self and the ability to form relationships with others both begin in
infancy, as the child starts to understand its own existence. The formation of close relationships
with parents and, eventually, with peers is crucial to the psychological and physiological well
being of a child. The first signs of self awareness can generally be found by age two. Children at
this stage can recognize themselves in the mirror and in photographs, as well as use personal
pronouns to refer to themselves. One popular test of self recognition involves discreetly putting a
small mark, usually an ink dot, on the forehead of a child. When the child is told to look at their
reflection in a mirror, a child that has developed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The social world is not as concrete as the physical world, and is governed by subjective laws that
change from person to person. Whenever people are incorporated into a task, that task
instantaneously becomes much harder and this is especially true for young children. If a child
does not yet have the ability to recognize their inner self , it is virtually impossible for them to
have effective communication with someone else, whereas this child can easily figure out that
an object dropped from the highchair will inevitably fall to the ground. Relationships are
incredibly important to both our functioning as a society and our existence as a species. If
relationships were considered bad, then there would be serious repercussions. The most obvious
is the strong decline in reproduction that would occur as a result, also neurosis would be
widespread from social isolation. Relationships also help to motivate us. Upward social
comparison occurs when we compare ourselves to those who are perceived to be better than us
(Festinger 1954). In most people, this creates motivation to try and reach this peak, so long as it is
an achievable goal. Relationships also supply us with affection and the benefits of attachment. As
people grow older, attachment with others is necessary to supplant that which was felt with their
parents, as proximity to them is decreased with the emergence of

After the fight, while people were talking about it, Toby says, The other two boys were excited,

However, now, Toby lost interest right after the fight showing that what he thought was his

The Education Of The United States Essay
The Education Revolution
Currently, the United States is ranked 14th in its educational standard, 17th in educational
performance and 24th in literacy (Mark). Compared to the rest of the world, we are behind
countries like Poland, China, Finland and New Zealand. For a country that prides itself on its
successful western society, what is stopping us from having an education system to match the
standards we have put on the rest of our amenities. However, a solution is closer than it seems.
According to Rasmussen College, there are 6.7 million students currently enrolled in online
courses, therefore with an increasing number of students attending these classes, it is not a question
on whether or not these classes will become normal, but when and how these classes will
revolutionize our education system (Bird). Online courses offer students the ability to create an
education based around their schedule, and allow students who may struggle or may not be able to
attend a traditional school environment the chance to have an equal education. Not only can the
students benefit from an online education environment, but both schools and professors can gain
from an online system. Moreover, such courses can help create a global education system that
allows anyone to have the same access to an education anywhere in the world as long as they have a
connection to the internet.
Online classes allow students to create a flexible schedule for students with jobs and busy home

Tale Of The Shoe Internal Conflict
The Tale of the Shoe :
The Tale of a Struggle Within
The passage from Emma Donoghue s, The Tale of the Shoe, advances the idea that the struggle
between good and evil does not have to be presented through physical entities that it can be
developed through an internal conflict, which is shown through the use of agency and sensory
experience.
In the well known Cinderella story the antagonists are the evil stepmother and her two daughters,
an external force that attempts to cause suffering for and to control Cinderella. Donoghue s
version of the story argues that this perception of evil is not the only one that exists that evil can
come from an inner source. This is expressed via the manipulation of agency. Although the story
is told in third person limited, the agency of other forces seeps into the narrative. The antagonists
take the form of voices. The voices become a character of their own they have the ability to ask
questions and scold the narrator, They asked why I was still alive (Donoghue 2). These voices
force the protagonist to perform the traditional chores that Cinderella does, Nobody made me do the

The pain is caused by the evil within her and this restricts her. This restriction is seen with her
speech, Every word that came out of my mouth limped away like a toad (Donoghue 1). The fact
that the story opens with a line about the sensation of feeling or touch, Till she came it was all
cold (Donoghue 1) foreshadows that the she who comes will right all the wrongs with the
protagonists touch or senses. The evil within the narrator can only be solved with the help of the
woman, who evokes the good part of the senses. Sensory experience is re established as helpful
with the sight of beauty and goodness, from the woman from the fire, Her eyes had flames in their

Paul is a long time friend of LeBron they both grew up in Akron, Ohio together. Rich Paul started
the agency Klutch Sports Group, Paul only has a view other clients but when you have LeBron as
the face of your agency things are definitely going well.

That can come in many different ways from commercials, movies, endorsements, winning games,
winning championships, and winning awards. With a client like LeBron you have a very good
chance to be getting almost all of theses every year. Agencies also expect that their client do well
off the court as well. With the way media and technology is so commonly used today it is very
important that clients of the Agency do not do things to jeopardize the positive view of him or
herself or the agency.
LeBron makes easily enough to have his deal be considered a fair deal. LeBron could definitely
be making a lot more money then he as at the moment, which might sound absolutely considering
the $70 million he makes annually. When you look at what LeBron has done in his career you
can see how he could definitely be making more money. He is the face of the NBA right now, he is
also the face of Cleveland, Ohio, and he is the face of Nike. The amount of recognition that he

A World Divided by Those Who Can Afford Technology and...
Imagine a world divided by those who can afford technology and those who cannot. Those that
have access to technology are the richest in the world, and those that do not are stuck in poverty
with no way to improve their economic status. It sounds like the starting lines of a Hollywood
movie but it is a growing issue in America and abroad. The digital divide is the divide or gap
between people who have access to technology and those that do not. The divide is creating
problems for schools who require more and more assignments to be done on a computer. Also,
having the internetis having the power of information and knowledge that not everyone has the
ability to access. Other countries suffer from the digital divide at a staggering percentage
compared to US, UK and Europe. (Crawford) In the United States the ability to get internet
access is usually limited to where you live. There are many homes in the US where there is not
reliable internet access. There are elementary schools that require papers, homework and research
to be done on computers. The students that do not have easy access to a computer will have a
strong disadvantage over those that do. Schools are getting better and more advanced computer
labs but not all students can stay after school to complete their homework, if they are required to
take the bus. In 1995 the Commerce Department published its findings on the digital divide. They
found geographic, economic and racial gaps between

Chinese Culture In China

in the world. Due to its large size, China borders thirteen other countries including North Korea,
Russia, Vietnam, and India; and since the country is so large there are diverse climates depending
on where a person is located (Culture of China, N.d). (ENTER) China is also home to many
endangered animals like the red crowned crane, giant panda, golden monkey, and the Yangtze

originated from the Chinese culture. Paper making was created in China in 105 A.C (Cree, 2010)
Woodblock printing was a common practice but was expensive and time consuming. This is all
changed when Bi Sheng invented movable type printing which made printing easier and quicker.

Essay On Concussions In Sports
The effects of too many concussions and other injuries sustained during contact sports can carry
on for the rest of your life if the case is severe enough. Most of the time, however, concussions are
very minor and only require a short time period of rest. If enough concussions do occur during an
athlete s life, say the amount a professional football player or hockey player might have endured,
chronic traumatic encephalopathy could take place. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy occurs when
an athlete endures repeated blows to the head that resulted in concussions or a secondary blow to
the head while the brainis still recovering from a concussion. Usually, the brain returns back to its
normal state if it has the proper testing and time to heal.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sports are not for everybody, not only because of talent level, but because a certain mindset is to
be had to be successful at any sport. A commitment is made. Forty hours of practice a week, the
average amount of time spent practicing for football players, all for a one hour game, the
average time of one game of college football, takes dedication. That is not even counting the time
spent icing, resting, and studying the playbook or film, not to mention the school work to be
kept up with for college and high school students. Most athletes have become used to the grind
and juggling three or four time consuming activities all at one time while being successful at
each. Waking up at the break of dawn, following a schedule, and suffering consequences when a
bad choice is made creates character and discipline that is often needed for many little league,
high school, and college athletes. The most important non tangible thing sports teach anyone is
how to get back up after falling, how to get knocked down but get right back up and keep going,
how to move on from failure and overcome it, focusing on the next important part of life. These
skills of determination and courage taught through sports are essential for being successful in any
part of life and are hard to come by anywhere

Enrique s Journey Theme
Immigration affects families in many different ways. In the book Enrique s Journey by Sonia
Nazario, family is a core element. After Enrique s mother leaves for the U.S., the whole concept of
their family gets distorted. The walking out of Enrique s father and the abandonment of his
grandmother help to disband the familyeven more. Enrique also threatens to repeat the same
mistakes his family made with his daughter when he considers leaving her behind in Honduras.
Family is the central theme in Enrique s Journey because of his relationship and resentment with his
mother, the rejection of his father and grandmother, and Enrique s decision to leave his daughter,
Jasmin, behind. Enrique s mother, Lourdes, leaves for the U.S. to find work

Essay about Sculptures in James Baldwin s If Beale Street...
In Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, Written by Himself, Douglass
describes his overseer as a man of the most inflexible firmness and stone like coolness (Andrews
181). He adds that his mistress s tender heart became stone (Andrews 188). When he first tries to
free himself from such people, Douglass ends up all alone, within the walls of a stone prison
(Andrews 208). Throughout these references, the image of stone is repeatedly linked with the
stonehearted and dramatic Caucasian oppression of African Americans. James Baldwin also
includes images of stone and wood in his novel, If Beale Street Could Talk. Stone and wood are
often mentioned together and are used for a joint purpose as Fonny, the... Show more content on

The first time, Fonny experiences rape in the form of [a]busive or improper treatment[, as in]...a
rape of justice ( Rape, def. 3). Although Fonny defends Tish from an attacker at a vegetable stand,
Officer Bell says, We re going to take you down, boy, for assault and battery (Baldwin 149). This
is improper treatment because the officer tries to arrest Fonny despite Tish s defense of his
actions, and he repeatedly refers to Fonny as boy even after Tish points out that [h]e s not a boy
(Baldwin 149). When the white Italian woman, who owns the vegetable stand, also defends
Fonny s actions, the officer decides not to arrest him; however, as a result of the officer s
metaphorical rape and taunting parting remarks, Fonny experiences a metaphorical stone
imprisonment. [W]ith a dreadful quietness he tells Tish, Don t ever try to protect me again
(Baldwin 151). His defenses are up, and he presents a stony exterior to his girlfriend; he makes
her cry although he s tormented and he knows, hadn t been for [her], [his] brains might be
spattered all over that precinct basement (Baldwin 153). He makes it very clear that it s his role to
protect her, but it s not her role to protect him; likewise, it s not her role to protect the sculpture that
is the metaphorical representation of him.

The sodium chloride is added to the ice in the larger bag in order to keep the dissolving ice from becoming room temperature. Sodium chloride keeps the ice/ slush at a low temperature that allows the ice/slush to start chilling the cream and milk which is located in the smaller bag. The freezing point drops to about 10 degrees Celsius. This allowed the ice/ slush to remain cold at a low temperature. The sodium chloride prevents hydrogen bonds and keeps the water molecules solid. This is called freezing point depression. This is one of the colligative properties of science. Without the temperature dropping, the ice/ slush would not remain cold and crystals would not be able to form in the smaller bag. The crystals create the ice cream s texture. Genetic Predictions in the Fruit Fly Kayla Berezne Mrs. Cohen Honors Biology 24 March 2013 Genetic Predictions in the Fruit Fly The Drosophila melanogaster is a fruit fly with a very short life cycle. They can be winged or wingless, and have red eyes or white eyes. The different options are called alleles. Alleles are the variants of a specific gene, and one is received from each parent on each chromosome. ( What Are Dominant and Recessive? ). It was chosen to use winged females and wingless males to predict the offspring in this experiment. The winged allele is dominant, meaning it only needs one allele to physically appear. With this in mind, they wrote the Constitution to account for this. They divided the government into three branches with a different function for each branch. The provisions of this are written in the first three Articles of the Constitution. These Articles established a separation of power by dividing powers between the following three branches: the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch. The goal of dividing powers is to ensure that each branch of government is not more powerful than the other. It also ensures that each branch is accountable to the other branch (The White, n.d.). Typically, scholars categorize writings in time periods that often reflect similar ideals between writers. The Age of the Romantics, can be viewed as a literary movement in which writers appear to have a similar driving force behind writing. Two important authors during this Age of the Romantics are William Wordsworthand William Blake. Although both Blake and Wordsworth are considered to be writers from the Romantic literary period, they have contrasting beliefs on what it means to be a poet and the poets function in society. He believes that people fail to use the imagination and then fail to transcend what their senses can tell them is real. He explains in There Is No Natural Religion that, He who sees the Infinite in all things sees God. He who sees the Ratio only sees himself only (117). Blake truly believed that humanity needs to see more than just science and things that can be proven, he really believed in the power of imagination. To Blake, he saw imagination as a portal to messages from a higher power namely God. By contrast, Wordsworth takes a completely different approach to poetry where he relief heavily on his senses. Wordsworth relied on his senses to produce images that he could then use to produce his poetry. Wordsworth describes, I have said that poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility (303). He continues, Now, if nature be thus cautious in preserving in a state of enjoyment a being thus employed, the poet ought to profit by the lesson thus held forth to him (303). These lines indicate the chief mission Wordsworth find himself on when writing poetry. Thus, because nature can produce such feelings in the poet, the poet must therefore rely heavily on what he sees. One of the things that happens is the way we take a breath, how we are able to use that breath to sustain life. As a breath is taken in, there s many different physical and gas laws that take place to allow it to happen. With Hooke s law I will be discussing what it is, how it relates to respiratory care, and the medical advances it may include. Hooke s law was named after the man that discovered it in 1660. Robert Hooke was a 17th century physicist who discovered the relationship between the forces applied to a spring and elasticity. He published his book in 1678 that included the description of his work. Hooke s law states that any elastic body, like a spring is acted on by a unit of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the limits have been reached, there is very little or no change that will occur in the response to any pressure change. This is figured out by using the equation of change in pressure and the change in volume. (Jardins, 2013) By using this equation it will help figure out how compliant the lungs are. This is critical in figuring lung dysfunctions and developing care for a patient. One of the major diseases that lowers the elastance of the lung and the most preventable is Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD is categorized with an increase of airway resistance and the loss of lung elasticity. As a restriction in airflow develops, it leads to the hyperinflation of the alveoli. Some other diseases that are caused by low elastic conditions and is related to Hooke s law are traumatic chest injuries, pneumonia, pneumothorax, pleural effusion, acute respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary edema, and interstitial lung disease. All of the disease and/or illness s cause the pressure volume curve to slide to the right very quickly and allows the lung elastic properties to decrease significantly. (Jardins, 2013) Hooke s law is directly related to the use of mechanical ventilation. However, despite finally accomplishing his goal of publishing his now infamous Inkblot Test, he died the following year. Rorschach s inkblots were created by hand and he experimented with forty inkblots to begin his research. However, he later revised it down to the ten we know today. Inkblots were a common phenomenon in Rorschach s childhood because there were numerous games and party tricks using inkblots. So it is not a surprise to find that Rorschach would use such a technique in his projective testing. Likewise, he and his father were artistic, which played a large role in Rorschach s creation of such stimuli. (Chapter 2) The Inkblot Test was later adopted by American psychologists by word of mouth due to there being no written translation of Psychodianostik in English until 1942. Samuel Beck and Bruno Klopfer were the two psychologists most popular for their modernization of the Rorschach scoring system. Klopfer was a research assistant from Berlin who was able to administer the Rorschach, so he taught Beck and his colleague Marguerite Hertz the administration of the test. Throughout this era of the Rorschach and leading up to the publication of the Exner System by John Exner in 1974, the Rorschach was a highly disputed and criticized form of assessment by many. The same EPA report concludes that, in the United States, the transfer of genes to wild species is also quite low. For Bt corn and potatoes the risk is essentially zero since wild varieties do not exist here. Bt cotton is also grown in the U.S., and in Southern Florida and Hawaii where wild varieties exist the EPA has banned Bt cotton cultivation. Thus, limiting the planting of Bt crops to areas where they have no native relatives negates the problem. The other major environmental concern, that Bt toxins pose a threat to non target (species other than the pests which are trying to be eliminated and/or controlled) invertebrate and microbe species is similarly unfounded. EPA, 2001 concluded that: Bt [proteins] have been tested against a wide variety of terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates including earthworms, collembola, daphnids, insect predators and parasites, spiders, and honeybees and have been shown to have a high degree of safety for these non target organisms. • 22. The Key Dimensions Of Contracts Essay Introduction The pre eminent procedural character of a contract is that there are essential elements that must be present for it to be legally binding. Australian contract law is largely attributable to the common law principles albeit various statutes have blossomed to supplement the substance of common law and doctrines of equity. The law of Contract pervades the day to day social and economic activities that have been accentuated by a precipitously burgeoning firmament of electronic commerce. At the outset, this has significantly given rise to enormous complexities within the panoply of contract law. Ideally, there are various forms of contract that attract legal attention. It is apt to early state that this paper seeks, for all intents and purposes to explore the key dimensions of contracts by electronic means. Electronic Contracts Contracts by electronic means are commonly referred to paperless contracts, figuratively. They can be defined as agreements created in digital form without the traditional use of a pen and paper. The dividing line between electronic contracts and the traditional form of contract is very thin. They are arguably governed by the general rules of offer and acceptance applicable in contract law and accepted both internationally and by Australian law. Conversely, a contract formed electronically is treated like a paper agreement and is legally valid if the contract can easily be retrieved for future references after the execution and the parties ... Introduction (300 word to 350 words) 359 Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that is not to be underestimated; it affects approximately 12.1% of children in the United States (English et al. 2006). Asthma is particularly concerning and threatening to children for multiple reasons, one being the anatomy of children. Asthma has no cure however there are some ways to treat asthma. If gone untreated, asthma could be deadly. Many causes of asthma cannot be exterminated however they can be reduced. Air pollution, being one of them, is something that many people may consider to be unavoidable, but in reality it is an unfortunate result of a luxury that the majority of the population consider a necessity. Asthma causes inflammation of the airways and the bronchi of the lungs. This in turn causes a decrease in oxygen uptake leading to the common asthma symptoms of shortness of breath, coughing and wheezing, and chest pain (Erzurum et al. 2006). In severe cases, if the airways haven t gone back to normal, lips can become blue due to lack of oxygen. If this occurs, it is imperative to seek immediate medical attention. The anatomy of children is different than adults in that practically everything is smaller. The main anatomical differences that have to do with asthma are that children have smaller and shorter airways, a larger tongue, a longer and floppier epiglottis, and a funnel shaped trachea. Tale Of The Shoe Internal Conflict The Tale of the Shoe : The Tale of a Struggle Within The passage from Emma Donoghue s, The Tale of the Shoe, advances the idea that the struggle between good and evil does not have to be presented through physical entities that it can be developed through an internal conflict, which is shown through the use of agency and sensory experience. In the well known Cinderella story the antagonists are the evil stepmother and her two daughters, an external force that attempts to cause suffering for and to control Cinderella. Donoghue s version of the story argues that this perception of evil is not the only one that exists that evil can come from an inner source. This is expressed via the manipulation of agency. Although the story is told in third person limited, the agency of other forces seeps into the narrative. The antagonists take the form of voices.
