final product. Rather, the advertisement is used to draw in customers who then must
settle for the next best thing according to the company, of course. Additionally, he
gives a second definition of bait and switch. This definition is the conditional
opposite, though it has the same central meaning: a seller advertises he has the high
quality good at a low price but replaces it with the identical good, renamed and
carrying a higher price. (Lazear 828) Lazear also claims that bait and switch is a
profitable strategy resulting in a fully rational equilibrium with false advertising.

The ad that my partners and I analyzed is one with interesting components to it. This
assignment made me think more about how ads convey the intentions of the creators
as well as what one can interpret through studying the ad. My partners and I studied
the Ray Bans still ad (pictured below) (Copyranter 1).
Other people inspire people all the time so one of the first places to look at was any
inspiration for this advertisement. It was found that the inspiration for this ad was
Taylor Mead (Bans 1). Taylor Mead was an openly gay man who was an actor. He
was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan in 1924 and died in 2013. During his life, he
moved to New York City to live freely. While in New York City, Mead was an actor
in the movie The Flower Thief and due to this, Mead caught Andy Warhols attention
(Herd 1). Andy Warhol was a famous artist who created works such as performance
art, filmmaking, and more (Biography.com Editors 1). It has been widely thought
that Warhol was gay or that he was a voyeur who is someone who gains sexual
pleasure from watching others being naked/engaging in sexual activity (By June 1951

Portugal s journey to democracy started in 1910 by first attempt of the Portuguese
people to establish the country as a democracy. Before 5 October 1910, Portugal was
ruled by the principles of constitutional monarchy. However, a putsch lead by the
Portuguese Republican Party established the First Republic by abolishing the
constitutional monarchy regime. The constitutionthat was adopted inaugurated
parliamentary regime with a president as a head of state. Unfortunately, the
republican regime lasted for only 16 years which were exceptionally unstable and
disordered; 45 different cabinets were in power, of which four were dismissed by
military coups.
A military dictatorship replaced the republican regime by pledging order and stability,
General Antonio de Spinole, the head of the Junao of National Salvation, was
declared as the leader of the new regime. The Junta and the MFA publicly declared
that they had no intentions to revolutionise the country, rather they wanted to create
democratic political institutions and allow a constituent assembly to be elected by a
popular vote.

extreme left who were dedicated to pursue a Marxist revolution in the country. In
1974 the Communist Party of Portugal managed to replace both, the president and

a body of 20 Communist members of military personnel that intended to govern the
country. The Council began a socialist revolution; land reform was introduced, banks

I do not agree with gifted students being left behind. As an educator we sometimes
just let the gifted students do their own thing because we feel that they have a
good understanding of the content. In the classroom, a majority of the focus goes
to the students who are struggling and those students get the majority of our
attention. The gifted student needs to be a focal point of the classroom as well.
Challenging them to reach new heights should be the educators focus but it does
not always happen. The No Child Left Behind initiative is another component that
hurts our gifted students. The administrators and teachers are so focused on this
law that is put in place for our schools that their main focus is to make sure all
students are kept on track with their appropriate grade level. This is a big reason in
my opinion why gifted students are being left behind. School districts are putting
so much focus those students and not doing enough for our gifted students.
