Profile Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Profile Essays" can be both a rewarding and challenging
endeavor. On one hand, the genre offers an opportunity to delve deep into the intricacies of a
person's life, capturing their essence in words. However, on the other hand, this very depth can
pose a challenge, as it requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to articulate nuances that
might be easily overlooked.
To compose a compelling profile essay, one must navigate through the complexities of human
experience, carefully selecting and presenting anecdotes, quotes, and observations that not only
inform but also engage the reader. The task involves the delicate balance of providing a
comprehensive portrait while avoiding information overload.
Furthermore, the writer must hone their interviewing skills to extract meaningful insights from
the subject, skillfully weaving these elements into a cohesive narrative. The challenge lies in
striking the right chord between objectivity and empathy, maintaining a respectful distance
while creating a piece that resonates with authenticity.
Additionally, the structure of a profile essay demands meticulous planning. Organizing the
information in a logical sequence, establishing a strong introduction that captivates the reader,
and crafting a conclusion that leaves a lasting impression—all require careful consideration.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing a profile essay can be an enriching experience. It
allows the writer to explore the depths of human character, fostering a deeper understanding of
individuals and the stories that shape them.
In conclusion, tackling a profile essay is no easy feat. It demands a blend of investigative
journalism, storytelling finesse, and a profound understanding of the subject. Yet, it is through
these challenges that a writer can unearth the gems of a person's narrative and present them in a
compelling and insightful manner.

Negative Self Esteem
Positive self perception and self esteem is crucial to the well being of all
individuals. Therefore, the negative self perception and low self esteem of children
and adolescents who have attracted disability labels is concerning, especially because
these qualities seem to digress as students progress from elementary grades, to middle
years, and to high school. While society has made many strides toward full inclusion
of students with disabilities, it is clear that, for various reasons, simply including
students who attracted disabilitylabels in the classroom is not improving how these
students perceive or feel about themselves. Understanding why and what can be
done is critical to ensure that all students well being, including a positive sense of
self and sense of belonging, is supported by our schools and by society in general.
While the development of self esteem is fundamental for children s and adolescents
adaptive functioning and perceived well being , many children who have attracted
disability labels report negative self perceptions and low self esteem (JemtГҐ, Fugl
Meyer, Г–berg, Dahl, 2009, p. 568). In fact, many of these children have been
taught to hate themselves because of their disability and lack of any abilities deemed
positive (Rodis, Garrod, Boscardin, 2001a, p. 18). They often feel less than those
around them, partly because others perceive them as less than , too. For this, they
feel guilt and embarrassment, frustration and loss of control
Apple Stock Price
As of march 26, 2016 the current value of the 1,000 shares of Apple stock is
$105,670. The stock price for Apple 25 years ago was $2.19, for a total value of
$2,190 (AAPL, n.d.). This means the 25 year return on 1,000 shares of Apple stock
is 4,725%. If the EE savings bonds are sold, the payout would be $119,588,
compared to the value of the bond if kept until maturity of $121,250. An advantage
of selling a combination of stocks and bonds is that it allows better financial security.
Keeping some stockincreases the potential of substantial gains from an increase in
share price and dividends, but also has a moderately high level of risk. Maintaining
some money in bonds has a set rate of return, but the risk is very low. The best

The City Of Sierra Vista Medical Center Rehabilitation...
In the city of Sierra Vista, AZ a beautiful new hospital stands on the eastern outskirts.
A new building is like a new beginning, a fresh start for all. However, with newness
comes concerns that change to problems or opportunities. Furthermore, past
tendencies and or problems with existing employees, turnover, and lack of quality
leadership do not go away with a new building. The need for change in the Canyon
Vista Medical Center (CVMC) rehabilitation department is apparent, but unless the
change is made in an appropriate manner, the change would be short lived and turn
out to hurt the rehabilitation center at the hospital. The need for specific human
process and human resource interventions will lead to the necessary changes to help

The amount of conflict between these two groups at CVMC requires intervention.
The Human Process Intervention, focuses on people within organizations and the
processes through which they accomplish organizational goals. These processes
include communication, problem solving, group decision making and leadership
(Cummings Worley, 2015, p. 157). More specifically the intervention that would be
utilized to help with the conflict between the PT s and PTA s would be to do
individual interventions and team building. An individual intervention such as the
Johari window is a great tool that allows individuals to gain feedback about their
behaviors (Cummings Worley, 2015). The understanding and awareness of their
behaviors and how they act among their fellow co workers could awaken them to
change.
Along with individual interventions, team building would be utilized to help with
the conflicts between these two groups. As evident in the past, conflict among these
two groups roams, the prevention and quieting of conflict has been unsuccessful. In
the words of Coggburn, Battaglio and Bradbury (2014) conflict is a fact of
organizational life it is inevitable and potentially desirable (p. 499). Putting the PT s,
a PTA and a tech together as a team would force these three groups to work together.
In fact, the conflict among them may allow for linked learning, higher creative and

Video Pipe Inspection
Video Pipe Inspection | Plumber Katy When a problem occurs in the drainage or
sewer portion of your plumbing, the help of a plumber in Katy is going to be
necessary. Visualizing the problem is only possible with a sewer camera used for
a video pipe inspection. The sewer camera consists of a tiny waterproof video
camera connected to a flexible fiber optic cable. The live image is transmitted to a
monitor for the plumber in Katy to view. The image displays the interior of the
pipe and any problems, such as a clog and its nature, the condition of the pipe, any
cracks, breaks, bellied, collapsed pipe or other problems, and it displays the precise
location and depth of the issue. The plumber can use this information to determine

In fact, it isn t uncommon for damage to your home to have already occurred by
the time there are signs of a problem. The video pipe inspection saves time and can

or sewer pipe issues, contact a plumber in Katy with the ability to provide a video
pipe inspection, which saves time, money and reduces inconvenience while ensuring
the job is done right the first time. One of the best ways to ensure your plumbing
remains in good condition is to schedule a routine plumbing inspection and drain
cleaning. The frequency will depend on the preventative care your household

Unfortunately, most homeowners wait until a plumbing problem has already

The Mining Of Mining Industry
Mining is an essential need for humans to access coal which produce rich resource
to generate electricity. Mining comes as simplistic image of just people in hard hats
with a pickaxe repeatedly pounding onto rocks until they gather desired materials.
However, mining requires a trade cost in order to get reliable energy resource, as coal
mininginfluences and infatuated the environment around it. In particular, surface
mines, also known as strip mines, is a practice mining commonly used to access
coal by removing layers of overlying soil and rock. Additionally, strip mining
requires heavy used of machines, such as bulldozers, power shovels, and trucks in
order to extract the resources from the ground. Surface miningis arguably the most
effective type of mining, as 60 percent of the world s materialistic coal comes from
the practice of this type of mining. Thus tactics of surface mining at such fast and
furious pace is in not an efficient method for gathering resources, and will result in
pollution and negligent on the land, forests and soil, and water that environment
provides naturally.
Surface mining, also known as strip mining, is a mining practice defined as very
shallow ore seam is first exposed by removing all of the overlying soil and rock,
otherwise known as the overburden. The ore is then excavated and removed from the
surface. (Gates Blauvelt, Mining and Pollution) Alternatively, surface mining utilizes
and removes the soil in order to yield high amounts of
Analysis Of Santa Clause Is Coming To Town
The song, Santa Claus is Coming to Town is a very happy and cheerful song that
is played during the month of December to bring out the Christmas spirit in people.
The history behind it is how two men got their big break and made one of the most
played Christmas songs of all time. The song was originally written by John
Frederick Coots and composed by Haven Gillespie on October 1933. Gillespie was
in charge of expressing his gift of writing children s song lyrics while Coots came
up with the tune that caught the attention of young children. The two came up
with the song while riding a subway car in New York. The two men had a
masterpiece in their hands, but needed someone to produce it. Many artists passed
on the song because they didn t believe the it would hit big on the charts and would
be difficult to sell, especially since it was a song for kids. Coots at the time was a
writer for Eddie Cantor and tried to persuade him to sing the song live on his radio
station. Cantor was undecided on whether to sing it, but his wife eventually
convinced him to give the song a chance. He ended up performing it live on
November 1934 on his radio station and brought huge publicity to the song. After
it was aired on the radio station, the song blew up. People from all over were
requesting to hear the song over and over again. It sold over 400,00 copies and
300,00 of those were sold within the first 24 hours. The song made the writers
millionaires with hundreds of copies being sold. It
Essay Penn State Scandal
The Jerry Sandusky case had a major impact on Penn State. It affected both
academics and athletics in a major way. In this essay I will discuss the situation that
occurred and the impact that the social media had on this once great school. Jerry
Sandusky is a retired American football coach. He was the assistant coach at
Pennsylvania State Universityunder the legendary Joe Paterno for 30 years. He was
the defensive coordinator for the football team. He is also the founder of The
Second Mile. The Second Mile is a non profit organization that serves
underprivileged youth. This is where Jerry Sandusky had met many of his victims.

Graham Spanier at the time was the president of Penn State University. He was
forced to resign following the Penn State child sex abuse scandal. Tim Curley was
the athletic director for Penn State and Gary Schultz was the Vice President. After
it was revealed that they failed to report the incident to authorities, both of these
men were fired by the board. The FBI had stated that after conducting an
investigation that these senior officials had known about Sandusky s actions as
early as 1998 and had failed to disclose this information to authorities. On October
9, 2012, Jerry Sandusky was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years and a maximum
of 60 years in prison. Spanier, Curley, and Schultz have been charged with grand
jury perjury, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and child endangerment in
association with the scandal. Paterno and McQueary never had any charges
pressed on them because they did what they were obligated to do. McQueary had
reported the incident to his superior which is Joe Paterno. Joe Paterno also reported
the incident to his superior who is Curley and Schultz. This whole situation caused a
huge reaction nationwide. The media had criticized the University for being so
irresponsible. Many radio stations and newspapers harshly criticized the school for
this scandal. Many people had criticized McQueary for not protecting the child that
was being raped by Sandusky. The media criticized him for not protecting the child
and reporting it to

Analysis Of Piano And Hide And Seek
Piano and Hide and seek show fond, vivid memories of childhood. The writers
have obviously lived a happy life as they write in a joyful tone; this reflects the
sentiment of Christie s quotation. In contrast A Mother in a refugee camp and
Prayer before Birth describe the horror of growing up in a poor environment.
Prayer before Birth indicates that life is a lottery and it is a matter of luck whether
you avoid the hardships and pain of life. However If tries to guide the child away
from making mistakes. If, describes growing up to be a good and happy person,
rather than a fulfilled childhood.
Prayer before Birth is a dark and disturbing poem written from the point of view of
the unborn child who is preaching to God that when he is born, hoping he is not
affected by the horrors of society. Macneice s negative views towards current society
are shown through the fetus spiteful thoughts; in the fifth stanza, Macneice lists how
the unborn child wants to avoid bureaucrats hectoring him, avoid being laughed at
by lovers and not be frowned at by mountains this portrays how paranoid the fetus is.
Not only is he worried about being judged by ordinary people, but also the landscape
surrounding him. The influence of nature will affect his unspoilt unborn form, but he
should not be looking at it pessimistically. One of the most powerful effects used by
Macneice is the repetition of the phrase I am not born yet. This emphasises the fact
that he has not yet

He is used to zookeepers training and providing for him, so he is able to respond
to cues from Pi and submit to his dominance. However, he is no docile house cat.
He has been tamed, but he still acts instinctually, swimming for the lifeboat in
search of shelter and killing the hyena and the blind castaway for food. When the
two wash up on the shore of Mexico, Richard Parker doesn t draw out his parting
with Pi, he simply runs off into the jungle, never to be seen again. Though Richard
Parker is quite fearsome, ironically his presence helps Pi stay alive. Alone on the
lifeboat, Pi has many issues to face in addition to the tiger onboard: lack of food
and water, predatory marine life, treacherous sea currents, and exposure to the
elements. Overwhelmed by the circumstances and terrified of dying, Pi becomes
distraught and unable to take action. However, he soon realizes that his most
immediate threat is Richard Parker. His other problems now temporarily forgotten,
Pi manages, through several training exercises, to dominate Parker. This success
gives him confidence, making his other obstacles seem less insurmountable.
Renewed, Pi is able to take concrete steps toward ensuring his continued existence:
searching for food and keeping himself motivated. Caring and providing for Richard
Parker keeps Pi busy and passes the time. Without Richard Parker to challenge and
distract him, Pi might have given up on life. After he washes up on land in Mexico,
he thanks the tiger for
The Key Component Of Computer Systems
Memory has been the key component of computer systems right from the
beginning. The convergence of consumer, communication, and data processing
applications combined with the rapid growth of cloud computing services have
led to an explosive growth in memory requirement (Baldi et al., 2014; Abaker et al.,
2015). At present, DRAM and NAND flash memories together make up 89% of
the memory market (Baldi et al., 2014). The success of DRAM and flash has been
essentially attributed to their small cell size and scalability. To meet the ever
growing demand for modern multi core systems to process data at higher rates,
there exist serious challenges that shall limit the dominance of DRAM and flash
memories. The unavailability of cost effective scalable lithography for sub 20nm
feature size is one of the factors affecting further evolution of such memories (ITRS,
2013). These challenges have spurred great interest in alternative technologies to
shape the landscape of future memory systems. Among the competing contenders,
phase change memory (PCM) has emerged as one of the most promising memory
technologies for the next generation memory systems dues to its salient features of
high density, superior scalability, very low leakage power, low latency, good
endurance, long retention (over 10 years), large capacity, byte addressability, shock
resistivity and better reliability compared to other non volatile memories (Raoux et
al., 2008; Lee et al., 2010; Wong et al., 2010; Zilberberg et
ASPCA Advertisement Analysis
Many ASPCA advertisements use a combination of different appeals to recruit
people, specifically pet owners, to donate to their important cause, which is saving
and rescuing endangered, neglected, and abused animals. The many different
strategies that the ASPCA advertisements use are ethos, pathos, logos, warm colors,
a scene of a loving environment, images of animals in pain and hurting, and a
reward if their target audience does decide to help their cause. I think that this is an
effective advertisement due to all of the strategies that they do use. In this
commercial it starts of with a sad song performed by Sarah McLachlan, and a fact that
every hour an animal is beaten or abused . This is a very good attention getter using
the appeal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because people will imagine that happening to their own loving pet and it
pulls on their heartstrings to help. People do not want to see animals, which are
pets hurting like they are in this commercial. They fear for these animals and want
them to feel that love that they give to their own animal. They use three different
but major appeals in this as well, the first being logos. The advertisement tells us
that an animal is abused every hour. They used this so we could put it into
perspective just how often it happens. The next appeal they had used is ethos
because they used someone who is famous to help build the credibility of ASPCA.
If it is someone we know, we as humans are more likely to listen to what they have
to say. The last major appeal they used was pathos. Pathos was used in many forms
in this commercial from the song that was used, to the pictures that scrolled across
our screen, to the fact that no pet owner want to see a pet hurting and in pain as the
pictures showed. The words the Sarah said as well played into the appeal of pathos,
by saying these animals NEED your help . This appeal is the one that is suppose to
pull on ones emotions and it does just that in this

The 1980 s were an interesting time for American television. Viewership was
steadily increasing, and the amount of family time spent in front of the television

My kids play four sports, baseball, football, basketball and lacrosse. Preview of
Main Points: First, I ll discuss youth sports and its philosophy on awarding
children with a trophy just for signing up. According to Brian Sanders from I9
Sports, his philosophy is every child gets an All Star trophy. They believe by
giving a trophy to every child it would make them feel special, by participating,
being part of a team and complete the season. Every child should receive an award
it will build up their self esteem and would encourage them to play again. I m
ambivalent when it comes to the younger kids age 4 and age 5. This happens in all in
house youth sports organization.
Second, I ll discuss why this can potentially hurt the child in the long run. This
culturally is changing our children. This is hurting our children. Giving trophies to
every child just for participating will not want them to improve. It gives them a
false sense of hope and entitlement. A trophy will make the child believe that their
good enough. When their confronted with a first time of difficulty there more like
to quit. According to Ashley Merryman, losing is good for you. Kids need to
improve to become a winner. When children mistakes we should help them through it
and teach them to recognize the mistakes and improve and work for it. Also you
should teach them to graciously congratulate the winner and the loss as a lesson to
improve your skills. Give my example with my

Describe how marketing techniques are used to market products in two organisations
In this task I will describe how marketing techniques are used to market products in
two different organisations in this case NHS and Nike.
NHS
The NHS was found by Aneurin Bevan on the 5th of July 1948 when he opened
the Park hospital in Manchester; his ambition was to break a high standard of
healthcare to everyone. This gave the opportunity for doctors, nurses etc. to be
together and provide a service which is free and of high standard. Gradually the
NHS improved and the quality of the health improved dramatically and with the
money doctors were able to carry out research which allowed them to do more to
help the health care for everyone.

This strategy is all about branding which is creating a unique name and image for a
product in the consumers mind, mainly through advertising campaigns. This is
important because if the product is seen as unique then more customers may want to
buy the product as it is not already out there.
relationship strategies
This strategy is used by businesses to build a relationship with their customers; this
will mean that their customers will be loyal to them which could result in the
business making more revenue. Examples of this strategy are customer loyalty
schemes. The reason a business would do this is to ensure that they have loyal
customers which will ensure that those customers will come back to their business.
transactional marketing
Transactional marketing is a business strategy that focuses on single, point of sale
transactions. The emphasis is on maximizing the efficiency and volume of individual
sales rather than developing a relationship with the buyer. This means that the

Underground Trains In The 1800 s
`In the 1800 s the people of Miami Florida used what most cities back then, the
amazing horse drawn carriage. But what most people do not know that they used
things like steam trains, ( elevated ones to be more exact.) which were obviously
powered by steam because of there name. They used electric tram cars. The tram
cars were used on the streets unlike the city of Boston, USA and London, UK. Those
cities used them under the streets ( Boston got the idea from London, and London
came up with the great concept of having an underground railway which turned into
the Underground and the Subway. ) Today Miami uses what most cities use, like
cabs, maglev trains, buses, aircraft, (helicopters ) skateboards, cars, segways, and
hoverboards. The
Characteristics Of Erges And Escher
Part III. Modernism, Postmodernism and Escher:
Relate Escher s lithographs Magic Mirror, Print Gallery, Waterfall and Relativity to
Borges and Kafka s work. What aspects and/or themes of their work could these prints
illustrate? What Modernist and Postmodernist characteristics do you find in them?
Mauritius Cornelis (M.C.) Escher was a Dutch artist that focused on drawing and
printmaking. In correlation with Escher s work, the themes of his pieces often
centered the impossible. These creative ideas present Modernist and Postmodernist
characteristics, as they draw on the subconscious and fragmentary nature of human
life. In the lithograph Magic Mirror, there is a large emphasis placed on the fictional
winged lion, while Print Gallery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this work, Marquez focuses on corruption as Senator Onesimo Sanchez accepts
pay offs from his people. As specified by the text, In this story he is clearly a
corrupt politician who accepts bribes and stays in power by helping the local
property owners avoid reform (2053). Accordingly, in the text, Sanchez speaks at a
rally and knowingly presents promises that he does not intend to keep. In the text,
it states, We will no longer be foundlings in our own country, orphans of God in a
realm of thirst and bad climate, exiles in our own land. We will be different people,
ladies and gentlemen, we will be a great and happy people, (2056). This quote
emphasizes that Sanchez deceives his people in order to stay in power. Additionally,
Sanchez encounters Nelson Farina, who is an escaped convict that continuously begs
him for a false identification card. Thus, Farina sends his daughter, Laura, to seduce
Sanchez into providing him with an ID. However, Laura is wearing a chastity belt
that her father uses to persuade Sanchez into delivering his request. Ultimately, these
ideas relate to the theme of corruption as Sanchez relays and performs deals based on
his own satisfaction.Another theme within the story is loneliness. This theme is
prominent in the work, because Sanchez suffers alone due to his underlying
alienation. Sanchez is a husband and a father, yet he never tells any of them that he
has six months and eleven days to live.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Ever since I was able to open my eyes, I ve watched countless movies from
countless of different movie franchises. I ve watched some of the best movies ever
made, and some of the worst movies ever made too. That includes watching the
movies made from small and unknown movie franchises to large and famous
franchises. Watching movies is like a hobby for me; every weekend, I would
watch a brand new movie in the theatre or search for a amazing movie that I have
not seen before. With the experience of watching a countless number of movies, I
know out of all the movie franchises, Marvel Cinematic Universe is by far the best
movie franchise, having the highest movie ratings and the largest Worldwide Box
Officeand Domestic Box Office. Marvel Cinematic Universe has made 22 movies
so far, but only released 17, and those 17 have been amazing to watch. The movies
have the highest average on Rotten Tomatoes. The average Rotten Tomatoes is
about 83%, which is relatively high considering it is the average. Rotten Tomatoes
is a system to determined by people whether the movie is good or bad. It is in
percentages, the higher the percentage the better the movie is. The most recent
movie, Spider man Homecoming was especially entertaining to watch. It has 92%
Rotten Tomatoes which is outstanding. The movie with the highest rating from
Marvel Cinematic Universe of 94% Rotten Tomatoes is Iron Man (Giles). Iron Man
was actually the first movie that Marvel had produced and released. It was a

Video Game Violence and Its Effects on Children
As we enter the 21st Century, video games are becoming more popular each and
everyday. People of all ages can and do enjoy video games as a way to spend there
free time. These games allow the player to live in the game whether it s about sports
or a role playing game. The problem with the video games in the market is that they
are becoming too violent in some people s minds. Also, many of these violent
video games are being advertised and directed to America s children. This is my
question for America; can video games influence violence and aggression in
children? In this paper, I will include American s view on this issue, what tests have

Video games can also lower the violence in the world since people can perform
violence virtually in games instead in real life. But still, even though players aren t
actually killing, they are still possibly involved emotionally in the idea of killing.
This occurs when players play first person shooter games. These types of games
allow the player to experience everything that the killer goes through. Players feel
emotions like anger, nervousness, power and pride while killing its opponent or
being killed. So video games can be seen as a safe way for players to release rage and
emotions. However, Columbine did happen and in a way it took images from a
computer game to the real life.
Video games have been around since 1974 when Pong, the first video game by Atari,
was released in the United States. Since then video games have grown into a huge
industry for all ages. The biggest group of customers for the industry is young
males. Boys aged 8 18 spend an average of 40 minutes a day playing video games.
Girls on the other hand are increasing their game playing but only play (Smith 2).
According to Cassel and Jenkins, editors of From Barbie to Mortal Kombat, found
out that approximately 80 percent of game playing among nine to fifteen year olds
was done by boys in 1990. The reason that for this percentage is due to the type of
video games that are out in the market today. Violence is the key component to most
video games that boys are
Essay about Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time
Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time
Carol Ann Duffy s poem Mean Time is about loss of love and the different ways in
which time brings about change or loss of life itself. The poem is very personal and
autobiographical to Duffy s life as are most of her poems. Mean Time is based on
mourning your lost love and how regrets seem meaningless when one day you get
up and realise its not just time which has passed you by, but time has stolen your life
too, and in the end it will only be the mourning that you regret. The idea of time and
how it is finite is one of the main themes in the poem.
The title Mean Time could be emphasising a few points one of which is how time
can be mean when one needs a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stanza is ended by stating that it s our mistakes she is recognising that her
partner is not all to blame and they need to share mistakes, this shows the first sign of
putting her life back together.
The poem moves on and tells us how she wants just one hour to be lifted so she
would never have said the words she did. This sets the tone for the whole poem;
regret and longing. It makes the reader feel that she has wasted enough time of her
life on this one man, its time to move on. However one moment she is regretting
spending too much time mourning her lost love, now she is stepping over old
territory again, which makes the poem a bit clichГ©, so the sympathy for the woman
is now lost.
One of the last important themes of Mean Time is conveyed in the final stanza,
this is how time is finite we will be dead because death is rapidly approaching
everyone, which highlights the fact that mourning is pointless. This is where the
reader can relate to Duffy because they can share their mistakes too because the
events in the poem can happen to all most anybody. I believe that Duffy s
conclusion is do not let your heart take control of your life, you need to no when to
move on.
The language throughout is very calm and well organised which helps
Applying The Ends-Ways-Risk Framework
Critical requirements (CR) are conditions, resources and means that are essential for
a center of gravity to achieve its critical capability (Strange Iron, 2013, p. 7).
Applying the Ends Ways Means Risk framework again, critical requirements
represent the Means (i.e. things needed) a COG needs to facilitate a critical
capability. Critical requirements can be tangible or intangible. For example,
ammunition and fuel or having X number of tanks would be considered tangible
requirements while popular support or societal polarization would be considered
intangible. Ultimately, the physical nature of the CR is irrelevant provided it
facilitates a critical capability. It s important to note that critical requirements are not,

The Battle Of Yorktown By Comte De Rochambeau
Even though the 13 colonies declared their independence from Great Britain on 4
of July 1776, they actually gained their freedom only after the decisive war, the
Battle of Yorktown (Introduction.) Yorktown was established in 1691 to regulate
trade and collect taxes. Due to its location surrounded by the York River which led
into the Chesapeake Bay, Yorktown would soon develop into a center of
commerce. Not only Yorktown fit for building wharves, storehouses, and docks
which used to export and import goods from Great Britain, but it also suit for
setting up a naval base by taking advantage of its surrounding of the York River and
Chesapeake Bay area (The Role 4.)
In the past, the three groups that involved in the Battle of Yorktown were French,
American and British. In summer of 1780, French allied with American and
provided them a major boost of 5,500 troops which were commanded by Comte de
Rochambeau (History of the Siege.) In May 10, 1781, British General Charles Earl
Cornwallis, known as Lord Cornwallis, decided that he could not control over the
southern colonies until he defeated Virginia. With that in mind, he searched for a
place to set up a naval base which made Yorktown a perfect place in his plan
(Colonial 12.) In the beginning of August 1781, Lord Cornwallis led British forces
from Portsmouth, Virginia to the tobacco port of Yorktown and fortified his position
to prepare for the upcoming war. Knowing Lord Cornwallis move as well as finding

The dragons represent the god of Marduk. Marduk was a god, but historians
believe what he was god of is unclear because of the fact that it is very complicated,
and they do not have enough evidence to support it. The tiles of the actual gate
were glazed blue tiles. The blue tiles are believed to come from lapis lazuli which
is a metamorphic rock packed with the dense, rich mineral called lazurite. After
entering and passing through the gatehouse, a long, straight path called the
Processional Way runs into Babylon. This is about half a mile long paved with red
brick on the outer parts and yellow brick in the middle. Each of the bricks used to
make the path have a inscription underneath them. The inscriptions are small
prayers from King Nebuchadnezzar to Marduk the god. The walls are estimated at
about fifty feet high, and the wall are lined with around one hundred and twenty

problematic as a patient will continue to bleed when being given fluids through an

The Invention Of The Modern World
In almost every scientific discipline, complex, specialised instrumentation has been
considered important, if not integral to scientific development. As the scientific
developed and professionalised, instrumentation integrated yet further into the social
routine of formal laboratory work and, arguably, became endemic within the fabric of
everyday late industrial life1. This state of affairs has persisted since at least the late
nineteenth century2. In some cases, instrumentation has almost subsumed the
individual scientist within historical narrative. It is impossible to imagine classic
depictions of the great myth of Galileo without the obligatory appearance of at least
one of his telescopes3, or a sketch of Newton without his refracting prism. Celebration
of material apparatus has been an enduring theme, particularly in more poplar
depictions of the process of scientific progress. Today, the seemingly
incomprehensibly complex microscope or (now orbital) telescope are still instantly
recognisable, as visual shorthand for the sharpest points within the material armoury
of the scientist. It is therefore undeniable that from the genesis of Western modernity
in the sixteenth century there has been a near obsession with developing, enhancing
and portraying devices of observation, measurement and quantification. Yet the
literary examination and incorporation of scientific instruments into narrative and
displays of physical heritage has been a convoluted and (at times)

science, information science, and nursing science designed to assist in the

the practice of nursing and the delivery of nursing care (Thede, 2012). There have
been many different contributions to healthcare since the evolvement of healthcare

Richard Nixon Pros And Cons
Richard Nixon was the 37th President of the United States, who dealt with much
controversy. Nixon started as a straightforward politician who was bringing
groundbreaking advancements to the fields he worked in. But all that work would
not be enough to fight against the drama that would later follow him during his
presidency. After the disastrous end to presidency, Nixon would try with all his might
to right his wrongs. During Nixon s bout in the White House, he made a mistake that
would overshadow all his other achievements.
While Richard Nixon was a politician, he achieved many great things. While Nixon
was
Vice President he did many things. While Vice President to Eisenhower, Nixon
made the position important. He took National Security Meetings, when the
President could not. He also went on good will trips to gain support for the
American s during the Cold War (Nixon Library). This is an important achievement
because the role of Vice President did not have much meaning before then, other
than as a backup in the unlikely event something were to happen to the president.
This also shows he was always very involved with his job and strived to be good at
it. When Nixon won the 1968 election he did many things in his tenure as president.
During his presidency, Nixon succeeded in ending American fighting in Vietnam,
improved relations between the US and USSR, and relations between the US and
China. This has meaning as it shows that Nixon was good at his job, and truly

Finally, when the lifeboat reached the island of Mexico, the savage Pi is gone

however, he was the motive and spirit that encouraged Pi to stay alive before being

The hyena expresses the evil and the wrong things in the world, considering its
characteristics, hyena was parallel to the cook. Pi described the hyena in negative
terms, such as the hyena s coarse coat seems to have been patched together from
the leftovers of creations (Martel, 128), and the colour of hyena looked liked the
symptoms of a skin disease (Martel, 128). Not only Pi wanted the readers the
readers to see how unpleasing a hyena looks, it also foreshadows its vicious
actions. Both the hyena and the cook were selfish, as the hyena killed the zebra
and orangutan for its own good, similarly, the cook s savagery on the Taiwanese
sailor for his own benefits. The second story was a lot harder for a reader to accept
comparing the cook s actions to hyena s killing. The hyena was included in the
story to contrast Pi s divine and justice, because nobody can tolerate evil. That being
said, Pi killed the cook for his revenge, and Richard Parker killed the hyena.

explain. When I got home from school yesterday, I had a package sitting at my
front door full of seven cassette tapes with no return address or any explanation of
what I was even supposed to do with them. I figured I would pop them into my dad
s stereo in the garage and find out; little did I know what I was about to hear would

her. I don t know, I never really got the chance to know her. She never let me.
Anyways, as I listened to her soft voice echo in the garage, she explained what I
was listening to. It was her recorded suicide note with thirteen stories, each on one
side of a cassette tape. Each story explained one person s impact on her decision to
end her life. She explained the process that these tapes were supposed to go through.

began the first story, Justin Foley, a senior who was Hannah s first kiss who
spread rumors that they did more than just kiss. I paused the tapes and figured I
should use something more private, for fear that someone in my house would hear.
I knew that a friend of mine had a walkman, and I figured I d be able to borrow it
from him, just for a night to listen to the tapes. I packed up the tapes and walked to his
The Impact Of Hopelessness On Prognosis Of Mental Health
Impact of hopelessness on prognosis of mental health It is believed that humans
are driven by internal forces or emotions that are felt extensively and expressed
irrevocably. Joy, gloom, anger, frustration, desperation all shape the course of
events in the life of a human and grants humanity the signature resilience and the
eternal will to survive. However, not all human emotions serve to fill the mankind
with satisfaction. Hopelessness, the state of being devoid of any hope to complete
or to reach a destination, is often characterized by lack of motivation and will to
achieve what one desires coupled with the thinking that nothing or no one can do
anything about their condition. According to Valtonen, (2011, p. 9), if the impact of
hopelessness on a physically sound person can drive them to the depths of self pity
and a feeling of uselessness, its effect on a mentally ill patient can result in poor
prognosis and an even worse outcome such as relapse or suicide.... Show more

On a personal level, it can transform into other serious mental issues like depression
and suicide ideation which adds to the ever present mental burden of dealing with
mental illness (Acosta, Aguilar, Cejas, Gracia, 2013, p. 52). It can also lead to
relapse of the mental disorder the patient was initially diagnosed with and can result
in medication noncompliance. All these factors result in poor prognosis and a
generally unfortunate outcome in the form of further deterioration of the mental
disorder. Furthermore, the impact of hopelessness is not only on the disease process
but also on the inter personal relationships of the patient and can alter the perception
with which a person views the world, which has a social impact on the patient s life
at home and their relationship with the members of society (Yanos, Roe, Lysaker,
2010, p.
Popular View Of Family Life
The differences between the popular views of family life and the reality of life for
most contemporary families can be seen in many forms. The popular view has not
completely disappeared, and the more realistic view may not apply to every family.
However, many still view the popular view of family life to be the ideal. Over the
years many changes to familylife have occurred, from the ideal family home, to the
structure of the family to the activates that a family engages in.
In the images above we see the popular image of the all American dream of having
a family home with a white picket fence versus the more realistic image of a family
living in an apartment. The popular image of a single family home with a white
picket fence has been replaced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, more and more families are being distracted from time they could
spend with their family. Many parents are not able to stop work when they get
home. Parents and children alike, have become too easy to become distracted by
things such as electronics or have become addicted to electronic devices not seeing
the impact that it has on family life.
In the images above we see the popular family view of traditional gender roles of the
father and mother versus the reality of modern much more relaxed gender roles. In
the past men only completed the masculine tasks such a cooking on the barbeque
grill. However, in today s society women are just as likely to complete tasks that may
be seen as more masculine.
In the images above we see a big family meal versus a mom skipping a meal so her
children can eat. Everyone likes to think that in a county such as America that
everyone has access to food. However, as of 2008, 1 in 8 Americans struggled to
get enough food for (Zinn, Eitzen Wells, 2010). The big family meal with lots of
food has steadily declined over the years for multiple reasons, one is that less and
less families sit down to family meals and another is that many people cannot afford
the have the big family meal and struggle to put anything on the
Death of General Wolfe Essay
Analysis of The Death of General Wolfe by Benjamin West
In 1770, artist Benjamin Wolfe completed what would become his most
controversial and talked about piece of artwork, an oil on canvas painting titled The
Death of General Wolfe, the purpose of which was to teach a moral lesson. The
Death of General Wolfe portrays the Battle of Quebec, but more specifically it details
the moment when Major General James Wolfewas on his deathbed shortly after the
British had driven the French away in victory. Although this piece is considered to
be historical since it details a true event, the details in it prove to be fabricated for
the sake of art. Benjamin West was truly a remarkable artist who required no formal
art education to learn how to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that the clouds are passing by and opening can represent two things. The
first is that it can be a symbol of General Wolfe, and as the clouds pass over head,
his soul will similarly pass over and die. Second is that the passing clouds can be
viewed as a sign of hope that the battle is now over and people can live peacefully.
One other piece of symbolism is the flag behind General Wolfe, which serves as a
directional force. Since it is pointed at both General Wolfe and the sky, it signifies
the fact that Wolfe s soul will go up onto Heaven. The colors in this piece are
instrumental in moving the eye across the piece and drawing attention to specific
parts of the piece. For instance, for the most part, the colors that are used are dark.
However, to emphasize General Wolfe, the focal point in the middle, his outfit is
painted in a brighter red and yellow and the ground beneath him is light as well.
Also, in order to allow the eye to glide across the painting almost all of the soldier s
uniforms are red, creating rhythm. One solider, who is apparently rushing into see
Wolfe, is painted in green, which is the complimentary color to red. The use of
complimentary colors brings the eyes attention to the panicked solider, emphasizing
the overall sense of urgency in the piece. The piece is also well balanced and uses
appropriate scales and proportions. Overall I think West was successful in his piece. I
admire the

Profile Essays

  • 1. Profile Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Profile Essays" can be both a rewarding and challenging endeavor. On one hand, the genre offers an opportunity to delve deep into the intricacies of a person's life, capturing their essence in words. However, on the other hand, this very depth can pose a challenge, as it requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to articulate nuances that might be easily overlooked. To compose a compelling profile essay, one must navigate through the complexities of human experience, carefully selecting and presenting anecdotes, quotes, and observations that not only inform but also engage the reader. The task involves the delicate balance of providing a comprehensive portrait while avoiding information overload. Furthermore, the writer must hone their interviewing skills to extract meaningful insights from the subject, skillfully weaving these elements into a cohesive narrative. The challenge lies in striking the right chord between objectivity and empathy, maintaining a respectful distance while creating a piece that resonates with authenticity. Additionally, the structure of a profile essay demands meticulous planning. Organizing the information in a logical sequence, establishing a strong introduction that captivates the reader, and crafting a conclusion that leaves a lasting impression—all require careful consideration. Despite these challenges, the process of writing a profile essay can be an enriching experience. It allows the writer to explore the depths of human character, fostering a deeper understanding of individuals and the stories that shape them. In conclusion, tackling a profile essay is no easy feat. It demands a blend of investigative journalism, storytelling finesse, and a profound understanding of the subject. Yet, it is through these challenges that a writer can unearth the gems of a person's narrative and present them in a compelling and insightful manner. For assistance with similar essays and more, consider exploring the services offered at HelpWriting.net. • 2. Negative Self Esteem Positive self perception and self esteem is crucial to the well being of all individuals. Therefore, the negative self perception and low self esteem of children and adolescents who have attracted disability labels is concerning, especially because these qualities seem to digress as students progress from elementary grades, to middle years, and to high school. While society has made many strides toward full inclusion of students with disabilities, it is clear that, for various reasons, simply including students who attracted disabilitylabels in the classroom is not improving how these students perceive or feel about themselves. Understanding why and what can be done is critical to ensure that all students well being, including a positive sense of self and sense of belonging, is supported by our schools and by society in general. While the development of self esteem is fundamental for children s and adolescents adaptive functioning and perceived well being , many children who have attracted disability labels report negative self perceptions and low self esteem (JemtГҐ, Fugl Meyer, Г–berg, Dahl, 2009, p. 568). In fact, many of these children have been taught to hate themselves because of their disability and lack of any abilities deemed positive (Rodis, Garrod, Boscardin, 2001a, p. 18). They often feel less than those around them, partly because others perceive them as less than , too. For this, they feel guilt and embarrassment, frustration and loss of control

The amount of conflict between these two groups at CVMC requires intervention. The Human Process Intervention, focuses on people within organizations and the processes through which they accomplish organizational goals. The history behind it is how two men got their big break and made one of the most played Christmas songs of all time. The song was originally written by John Frederick Coots and composed by Haven Gillespie on October 1933. Gillespie was in charge of expressing his gift of writing children s song lyrics while Coots came up with the tune that caught the attention of young children. The two came up with the song while riding a subway car in New York. The two men had a masterpiece in their hands, but needed someone to produce it. Many artists passed on the song because they didn t believe the it would hit big on the charts and would be difficult to sell, especially since it was a song for kids. Coots at the time was a writer for Eddie Cantor and tried to persuade him to sing the song live on his radio station. Cantor was undecided on whether to sing it, but his wife eventually convinced him to give the song a chance. He ended up performing it live on November 1934 on his radio station and brought huge publicity to the song. After it was aired on the radio station, the song blew up. People from all over were requesting to hear the song over and over again. It sold over 400,00 copies and 300,00 of those were sold within the first 24 hours. The writers have obviously lived a happy life as they write in a joyful tone; this reflects the sentiment of Christie s quotation. In contrast A Mother in a refugee camp and Prayer before Birth describe the horror of growing up in a poor environment. Prayer before Birth indicates that life is a lottery and it is a matter of luck whether you avoid the hardships and pain of life. However If tries to guide the child away from making mistakes. Prayer before Birth is a dark and disturbing poem written from the point of view of the unborn child who is preaching to God that when he is born, hoping he is not affected by the horrors of society. Macneice s negative views towards current society are shown through the fetus spiteful thoughts; in the fifth stanza, Macneice lists how the unborn child wants to avoid bureaucrats hectoring him, avoid being laughed at by lovers and not be frowned at by mountains this portrays how paranoid the fetus is. Not only is he worried about being judged by ordinary people, but also the landscape surrounding him. The influence of nature will affect his unspoilt unborn form, but he should not be looking at it pessimistically. One of the most powerful effects used by Macneice is the repetition of the phrase I am not born yet. This emphasises the fact that he has not yet

The convergence of consumer, communication, and data processing applications combined with the rapid growth of cloud computing services have led to an explosive growth in memory requirement (Baldi et al., 2014; Abaker et al., 2015). At present, DRAM and NAND flash memories together make up 89% of the memory market (Baldi et al., 2014). The success of DRAM and flash has been essentially attributed to their small cell size and scalability. To meet the ever growing demand for modern multi core systems to process data at higher rates, there exist serious challenges that shall limit the dominance of DRAM and flash memories. The unavailability of cost effective scalable lithography for sub 20nm feature size is one of the factors affecting further evolution of such memories (ITRS, 2013). These challenges have spurred great interest in alternative technologies to shape the landscape of future memory systems. Among the competing contenders, phase change memory (PCM) has emerged as one of the most promising memory technologies for the next generation memory systems dues to its salient features of high density, superior scalability, very low leakage power, low latency, good endurance, long retention (over 10 years), large capacity, byte addressability, shock resistivity and better reliability compared to other non volatile memories (Raoux et al., 2008; Lee et al., 2010; Wong et al., 2010; Zilberberg et

They use three different but major appeals in this as well, the first being logos. The advertisement tells us that an animal is abused every hour. They used this so we could put it into perspective just how often it happens. The next appeal they had used is ethos because they used someone who is famous to help build the credibility of ASPCA. If it is someone we know, we as humans are more likely to listen to what they have to say. The last major appeal they used was pathos. Pathos was used in many forms in this commercial from the song that was used, to the pictures that scrolled across our screen, to the fact that no pet owner want to see a pet hurting and in pain as the pictures showed. The words the Sarah said as well played into the appeal of pathos, by saying these animals NEED your help . Also, many of these violent video games are being advertised and directed to America s children. This is my question for America; can video games influence violence and aggression in children? Video games can also lower the violence in the world since people can perform violence virtually in games instead in real life. But still, even though players aren t actually killing, they are still possibly involved emotionally in the idea of killing. This occurs when players play first person shooter games. These types of games allow the player to experience everything that the killer goes through. Players feel emotions like anger, nervousness, power and pride while killing its opponent or being killed. So video games can be seen as a safe way for players to release rage and emotions. However, Columbine did happen and in a way it took images from a computer game to the real life. Video games have been around since 1974 when Pong, the first video game by Atari, was released in the United States. Since then video games have grown into a huge industry for all ages. The biggest group of customers for the industry is young males. Boys aged 8 18 spend an average of 40 minutes a day playing video games. Girls on the other hand are increasing their game playing but only play (Smith 2). According to Cassel and Jenkins, editors of From Barbie to Mortal Kombat, found out that approximately 80 percent of game playing among nine to fifteen year olds was done by boys in 1990. The reason that for this percentage is due to the type of video games that are out in the market today. Violence is the key component to most video games that boys are

Essay about Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time Carol Ann Duffy s poem Mean Time is about loss of love and the different ways in which time brings about change or loss of life itself. The poem is very personal and autobiographical to Duffy s life as are most of her poems. Mean Time is based on mourning your lost love and how regrets seem meaningless when one day you get up and realise its not just time which has passed you by, but time has stolen your life too, and in the end it will only be the mourning that you regret. The idea of time and how it is finite is one of the main themes in the poem. The title Mean Time could be emphasising a few points one of which is how time can be mean when one needs a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stanza is ended by stating that it s our mistakes she is recognising that her partner is not all to blame and they need to share mistakes, this shows the first sign of putting her life back together. The poem moves on and tells us how she wants just one hour to be lifted so she would never have said the words she did. This sets the tone for the whole poem; regret and longing. It makes the reader feel that she has wasted enough time of her life on this one man, its time to move on. However one moment she is regretting spending too much time mourning her lost love, now she is stepping over old territory again, which makes the poem a bit clichГ©, so the sympathy for the woman is now lost. One of the last important themes of Mean Time is conveyed in the final stanza, this is how time is finite we will be dead because death is rapidly approaching everyone, which highlights the fact that mourning is pointless. This is where the reader can relate to Duffy because they can share their mistakes too because the events in the poem can happen to all most anybody. I believe that Duffy s conclusion is do not let your heart take control of your life, you need to no when to move on. The language throughout is very calm and well organised which helps

  • 31. The Invention Of The Modern World In almost every scientific discipline, complex, specialised instrumentation has been considered important, if not integral to scientific development. As the scientific developed and professionalised, instrumentation integrated yet further into the social routine of formal laboratory work and, arguably, became endemic within the fabric of everyday late industrial life1. This state of affairs has persisted since at least the late nineteenth century2. In some cases, instrumentation has almost subsumed the individual scientist within historical narrative. It is impossible to imagine classic depictions of the great myth of Galileo without the obligatory appearance of at least one of his telescopes3, or a sketch of Newton without his refracting prism. Celebration of material apparatus has been an enduring theme, particularly in more poplar depictions of the process of scientific progress. Today, the seemingly incomprehensibly complex microscope or (now orbital) telescope are still instantly recognisable, as visual shorthand for the sharpest points within the material armoury of the scientist. It is therefore undeniable that from the genesis of Western modernity in the sixteenth century there has been a near obsession with developing, enhancing and portraying devices of observation, measurement and quantification. Yet the literary examination and incorporation of scientific instruments into narrative and displays of physical heritage has been a convoluted and (at times)

The Impact Of Hopelessness On Prognosis Of Mental Health Impact of hopelessness on prognosis of mental health It is believed that humans are driven by internal forces or emotions that are felt extensively and expressed irrevocably. Joy, gloom, anger, frustration, desperation all shape the course of events in the life of a human and grants humanity the signature resilience and the eternal will to survive. However, not all human emotions serve to fill the mankind with satisfaction. Hopelessness, the state of being devoid of any hope to complete or to reach a destination, is often characterized by lack of motivation and will to achieve what one desires coupled with the thinking that nothing or no one can do anything about their condition. According to Valtonen, (2011, p. 9), if the impact of hopelessness on a physically sound person can drive them to the depths of self pity and a feeling of uselessness, its effect on a mentally ill patient can result in poor prognosis and an even worse outcome such as relapse or suicide.... The first is that it can be a symbol of General Wolfe, and as the clouds pass over head, his soul will similarly pass over and die. One other piece of symbolism is the flag behind General Wolfe, which serves as a directional force. Since it is pointed at both General Wolfe and the sky, it signifies the fact that Wolfe s soul will go up onto Heaven. The colors in this piece are instrumental in moving the eye across the piece and drawing attention to specific parts of the piece. For instance, for the most part, the colors that are used are dark. However, to emphasize General Wolfe, the focal point in the middle, his outfit is painted in a brighter red and yellow and the ground beneath him is light as well. Also, in order to allow the eye to glide across the painting almost all of the soldier s uniforms are red, creating rhythm. One solider, who is apparently rushing into see Wolfe, is painted in green, which is the complimentary color to red. The use of complimentary colors brings the eyes attention to the panicked solider, emphasizing the overall sense of urgency in the piece. The piece is also well balanced and uses appropriate scales and proportions. Overall I think West was successful in his piece. I admire the
