or white blood cells and can spread throughout the immune system. This type of lymphoma is

Having The Grapes of Wrath and Their Eyes Were Watching God on my library shelf occurred
because the two novels are required summer reading for my junior year language arts class. I
doubt I ever would have read Hurston s book, but Steinbeck s book is known to me. So, I took
advantage of this opportunity, to become involved with Tom Joad (and his family) and Janie
Crawford (and her grandmother and three husbands). From my reading, I saw connections with
the issues of power and self fulfillment, survival, family life and relationship, and community
connections. Both books take place in the 1930 s; one in rural Florida and the other from
Oklahoma to California. The writing style in the books relies on conversation indicative to the
identity of the characters and the setting. The initial problem I had is reading the southern dialect
spoken by the characters in Hurston s book and the migrant s choice of words and speech patterns
in Steinbeck s book. Eventually, I succumbed to it and became engaged with the character s
determination and the impact of events on their lives as the stories evolved.

deaths. It lasted six years, beginning with Adolf Hitler s invasion of Poland in 1939. As the
Allied Powers (mainly the United States, Britain, and the Soviet Union) and the Axis Powers
(Germany, Italy, and Japan) were in direct conflict with each other, many wonder if the cost of
victory was too extreme. In late 1941, the process of creating the world s first, most deadly
weapon began. The production of the first atomic bomb was code named the Manhattan Project.
After months of production, August 6, 1945, America dropped the Little Boy bomb on
Hiroshima, wiping out ninety percent of the city. August 9, 1945, just three days after the
devastation of the first bomb, America dropped the Fat Man bomb on Nagasaki. Dropping the
atomic bomb on Japan was not necessary, nor justified in ending World War II. Due to the fact
that America targeted heavily civilian populated cities (with limited military value), that Japan was
in a position of surrender before the bomb was dropped, and the fact that the U.S. did not give
enough time for Japan to process the devastation of the first bomb before the second in Nagasaki

A lot of the appeal of internal medicine is Sherlockian solving the case from the clues. We are
