Jd Salinger Essay
Salinger, J(erome) D(avid) (1919 ), American novelist and short story writer, known for his
stories dealing with the intellectual and emotional struggles of adolescents who are alienated
from the empty, materialistic world of their parents. Salinger s work is marked by a profound
sense of craftsmanship, a keen ear for dialogue, and a deep awareness of the frustrations of life in
America after World War II (1939 1945).
Jerome David Salinger was born and raised in New York City. He began writing fiction as a
teenager. After graduating from the Valley Forge Military Academy in 1936, he began studies at
several colleges in the New York City area, but he took no degree. He did, however, take a fiction
writing class with Whit Burnett, an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the early 1960s, Salinger virtually stopped writing for publication and disappeared from public
view into his rural New Hampshire home. In an interview that he granted during the 1970s, Salinger
maintained that he continues to write daily, and has merely rejected publication as quot;a terrible
invasion of his privacy. quot; Salinger s reclusiveness added to his cult status.

The Catcher in the Rye is narrated by Holden Caulfield, a 16 year old boy who has just flunked
out of his third private boarding school. Unwilling to remain at school until the end of the term,
Holden runs away to New York City. He does not contact his parents, who live there, but instead
drifts around the city for two days. The bulk of the novel is an account, at once hilariously funny
and tragically moving, of Holden s adventures in Manhattan. These include disillusioning
encounters with two nuns, a suave ex schoolmate, a prostitute named Sunny, and a sympathetic
former teacher who may be homosexual. Finally, drawn by his affection for his ten year old sister,
Phoebe, Holden abandons his spree and returns home.
Salinger s depiction of Holden Caulfield is considered one of the most convincing portrayals of an
adolescent in literature. Intelligent, sensitive, and imaginative, Holden desires acceptance into the
adult world even though he is sickened and obsessed by what he regards as its quot;phonies, quot;
including his teachers, parents, and his older

Owen Meany Quotes
Passage 7 Quote #2 Owen Meany would accuse Calvin of bad faith. There were no accidents;
there was a reason for that baseball just as there was a reason for Owen being small, and a reason
for his voice. In Owen s opinion, he had INTERRUPTED AN ANGEL, he had DISTURBED AN
ANGEL AT WORK, he had UPSET THE SCHEME OF THINGS. I choose this Quote because it
is a huge turning point in the Novel, If Owen hadn t interrupted that angel Owen wouldn t have
killed Tabby and the chain of events that lead to Owen Dying would never have occurred. This is
when I truly started to believe that Owen doesn t have free will at all and that God is going to
Steer his fate. This passage is a great example of the theme of Free will Versus fait. I think that
the whole novel is a chain of events that no matter what the characters do will end up in Owen
and Tabby Dying. For instance on her wedding day When the chunk of Hail hits Tabby in the
Head its foreshadowing that something no matter what will kill her. Passage 8 Quote #3 So he s a

kind of snootiness is essential to the setting of the novel and actually forms John into the man we

Disneyland Hong Kong
Executive Summary Hong Kong Disneyland (Disney HK) is owned by Hong Kong International
Theme Parks Limited, a joint venture company with 57 percent shares from the Hong Kong
Government and 43 percent shares from the Walt Disney Company. One of the key reasons Disney
HK was constructed is to create new jobs for both within Disney and through other employment
opportunities and was also estimated to generate economic benefits for Hong Kong. This report
would include a comprehensive analysis of the company, Disney HK. It aims to analyse the current
situation of the company and propose strategies that would help Disney HK to improve and attain

It is part of Disney HK s rationale in creating a unique experience of Disney s magic and Chinese
culture to position itself as a premium theme park in Hong Kong and the Asian region, a theme park
that would come to mind for international tourists and to engage potential mainland Chinese visitors
(Disney HK, 2012). It is the core strategy for Disney HK in sustaining its position, profitability and
competitive advantage in the long run.

Disney HK has failed to reach its target number of 5.6 million visitors in the first year of
operation, achieving a total of slightly over 5 million visitors well under its expectation. In the
second and third year of operation, the park visitors were recorded at 4.17 and 4.5 million
respectively (Tai and Lau, 2009). This led to a loss in profit incurred by Disney HK over three
years of operation despite its effort on integrating to Chinese culture and attempt to create a high
value and unique customer s experience to the Disney magic. As a result of the loss, Walt Disney
and the creditors of Disney HK had eased the pressure on payments over management fees and
royalties, performance targets on its commercial loan were also removed (HK SAR, 1999). In the
following year, an opportunity presented itself as Walt Disney had cleared its commercial loans,
where Walt Disney was relieved from a major obstacle from realising

Pre Eclampsia Research Paper
A popular hypothesis explaining the cause of pre eclampsia is immune maladaptation(14).To date,
the etiology of preeclampsia is not completely understood, however an increasing body of evidence
indicates the involvement of the immune system in the form of faulty tolerance to the conceptus as
an fundamental part of the pathogenesis(50).The immune system has been incriminated in the
pathophysiology of preeclampsia with alterations in the cellular immunity and cytokines production
that are work toward the maintenance of pregnancy(76). The maternal immune response against the
fetusand placenta has too been proposed to have an central role in the pathogenesis of
preeclampsia(185).
In contrast to normal pregnancy, there are indications of increased inflammatory responses and
also of an immune deviation toward Th1 in the established preeclamptic pregnancy (183).
Accompanied by a shift in the direction of Th1 type immunity as identified by the increased IL 2
/IL 4 ratio and IFN Оі /IL 4 ratio , there is too increased circulating levels of the pro inflammatory
cytokines IL 6 and TNF О±, also the chemokines IL 8 , interferon inducible protein 10 (IP 10)
and monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP 1), as well as the adhesion molecules intercellular

NK cells are usually disappeared by full term. Conversely, in preeclampsia, NK cells continue to be
active in the maternal decidua. Activation of NK cells might be accountable for the Th1
predominant inflammatory response profile experiential in preeclampsia, with increased IFN Оі

preeclampsia, maybe by inhibiting trophoblast invasion locally, and/or by the induction of

What patients said:
I had a lot of itching, and I was nauseated, throwing up all the time. I couldn t keep anything down
in my stomach.
When I got the nausea, I couldn t eat and I had a hard time taking my blood pressure pills.
Symptom 7: Shortness of Breath
Trouble catching your breath can be related to the kidneys in two ways. First, extra fluid in the
body can build up in the lungs. And second, anemia (a shortage of oxygen carrying red blood
cells) can leave your body oxygen starved and short of breath.
What patients said:
At the times when I get the shortness of breath, it s alarming to me. It just fears me. I think maybe
I might fall or something so I usually go sit down for awhile.
I couldn t sleep at night. I couldn t catch my breath, like I was drowning or something. And, the

South Africa Is a Sick Nation
1.Comments in Jansen words saying South Africa is a sick nation:
I agree, because according to Jansen:
We burn down and break down:
Every time there is a problem people doesn t like to wait for negotiations with the government
but they just burn the properties of the state and all the important assets for service delivery and
equipment.
If people strike they burn cars, hospitals, police stations and they forget that tomorrow they will
need those things that is why I agree with Jansen that South Africa is a sick country.
We turn over garbage cans:
We take all the trash cans and pour them on the street as a sign of being angry and not satisfied
and this can result in problems such as dirty streets, air and land pollution and it will affect our
lives and put our lives in danger.
We beat each other senseless with chairs in the political rallies:
We don t have shame or don t think for the lives of others because we harm them in such a
way as if they don t live with us they are not part of us and we destroy our morals and respect by
fighting our brothers and sister instead of fighting the problems that we are facing in the country.
We threaten each other and we kill each other
We like to set standard for others and tell them if they don t reach those standard or certain
activities that they were given we are going to kill them.
We forget that killing each other won t bring peace in our nation but it will just bring shame
and too much hatred to us and we won t

have a phone to make calls or send messages, but we must remember that the phone has a price
tag at 6000 euros and isn t targeted old ladies that have a budget at 300 DKK.
The third reason is that the phone costs 6000 euros and has absolutely no features and is
compared to a luxuries watch as stated in the text at line 15. In my opinion a phone that cost 6000
euros should have a lot of features, that it don t break is not enough.
The fourth reason is that electronic brands all over the world is making their devises break after a

Political and Religious Motivations in Dante Alighieri’s...
I: Introduction For many years Dante Alighieri s epic poem the Divine Comedia has been
known as a work born from his religious perspective and internal conflict of faith. Many have
suggested that he wrote the text to share his perspective of Christianity with the world. However,
beyond religious implications, Dante sought just as equally, if not more so, to share his political
philosophy and the agony inspired by some of the political occurrences in his life with the
world. It is important, then, to consider the following question: to what extent is Dante s Inferno
a politically motivated text rather than a religious one? Alighieri s epic, particularly Inferno, is
not solely a religious text, as it has been thought of by so many for so many years, but rather is
an allegorical political text. This can be seen most clearly in the first three cantos of the Inferno,
though it is also present in the rest of the poem. The first three cantos will be the most focused
upon here, supplemented with substance from the next seven as well. As one of the most
influential works of literature ever written, arguably the most influential religious works ever
written (aside from religious foundational texts such as the Bible and the Qur an), and one of the
most widely known epics ever written, it is necessary that the world strives to gain a complete
understanding of what the author s true purpose is, and thus what the true intended contribution of
the work is as well. As one of the six

The Role Of Propaganda In American Civil War
Propaganda, persuading to believe a biased opinion, through the forms of cartoons, news, and
metaphors. Propaganda has been used throughout the modern century and far back to the
beginning of religion and literature, it eventually carried over to the US with many iconic forms
of propaganda such as, We want you for the US army, and We can do it (Mach). Nevertheless there
are many other powerful types and examples of propagandathat influenced American wars, many of
which were shown in the American Civil War. Four examples are, the Emancipation Proclamation,
the church, Dixie, and King Cotton. The Emancipation Proclamation was Northern propaganda
which declared slavery illegal, though it did not go into effect immediately and was had to be
submitted twice till it became effective. It states in the decree that all persons held as slaves within

Migration And Racial Tension Of Australia
Migration and racial tension
I believe that the two topics that I have chosen relate to each other in many ways. The racial
tension came from the migrating races to Australia, and the issues that the Australians of the time
had with the new people . The migration occurred because there was a growing business in a new
country, there were more opportunities for trade and everyone wanted to try their luck on the gold
fields. I found the migrating story s from the Chinese to be more of an interesting theme. This is the
same with the racial tension, the mass groups of Chinese were the main targets with the racism.
Most migrants that came to Australia to grab a share of the gold rush, left behind family and home.
In traditional Chinese culture this was particularly difficult for them to come from a parent s heavy
focused family system, to an alien country to live.
The Chinese people that came to Australia were typically men brining there family over with
them to work for an income that would be big enough to support them. The wife however was
left at home to forfill the role of looking after her in laws in this time. The family would have to
work for them aswell, and send a percentage of there profit over.
As the population of chinses immergents started to climb, they were starting to become apart of
population statistics. If you were Chinese by birth and you were outside NSW, the governments of
the other states took advantage of you and made you pay a special reentry

We humans who live on the surface of the earth are all Overlanders! This is what I found out

seven year old sister Lizzie gets to go off to camp, while he is stuck at home watching his 2 year

and flees to a beach. There, he and Boots are confronted by two giant, talking, aggressive rats!
The rats have a hatred for Overlanders and decide to eat Gregor and Boots. A fight ensues.
Gregor and Boots are rescued by the Regalians, but not without casualties. They are taken back
to the city. There, Gregor finds out about a prophecy called The Prophecy of the Gray . Vikus
thinks will be fulfilled by Gregor. Now it is time to start the Quest to save Regalia from the
Rats. But, Gregor is a reluctant warrior. He doesn t think that he is really the one to save them
all. He doesn t want to believe that the responsibility is his. Vikus reveals the information that
Gregor s father is alive and being held prisoner by the rats. Gregor learns that where there is life,
there is hope! Gregor now has his own quest, to rescue his father from the rats! Gregor captures
the imagination of anyone who has some frustrations in their life. I can relate to Gregor s
wanting to make his life better. My problems are not near to the level of Gregors, but I would

Torrance And Creativity
Dr. Torrance and Creativity

discussing Dr. Torrance s background, a reflection of his work in creativity, how his work has
influenced program offerings, and how Dr. Torrance s work could impact our work with aging.
Lastly, I will discuss what I have learned from studying him.
Dr. Ellis Paul Torrance was born in 1915 to a farming family in rural Georgia (Childs, 2013). He

has no practiced or learned solution, some degree of creativity is required (Millar, 1995). During
his time at the Air Force, he wrote 135 research papers with his colleagues on survival and
creativity and began designing creativity tests (Bert, 2002). His research studies continued and he

Representation Of The Body Is A Physical Tool
Module 2 Essay
Our bodies represent something and, in the case of our society, bodies can speak for people as
well. A person is judged and policed according to what they do to themselves, the way in which
they present themselves to society, and by the things they associate themselves with. Bodywork
allows a person to consciously tailor their body to their specific desires and needs. The body is a
physical tool, but also a means of communicating. Thus, this essay will outline how female
participation in bodywork, specifically in regards to roller derby, can be both empowering and
disempowering at the same time depending on which aspects a person chooses to emphasize and
their perspective used to analyze it.

After the first lap, each opposing pack member a jammer skates by translates into one point (Cohen

exterior, in opposition to society, as well as re produce hegemonic feminine and masculine customs.
The women are encouraged to build more toned and muscular bodies but the also incorporates
hyper femininity, in which the derby girls choose their attire.
Generally, female participation is categorized as empowering or disempowering according to the
hegemonic ideals and stereotypes, which are instituted and policed by society but rarely questioned.
The ideal female body is supposed to be constructed to appear as being small, thin, frail, and
beautiful by removing hair, controlling weight, exercising, utilizing makeup, and wearing the
appropriate feminine attire (StrГјbel Petrie, 2016). In other words, the ideal female body being
policed by society is not created to be powerful or athletic, but rather an object to be gazed upon
by the outside eye. However, many females construct and utilize their bodies in a way that is more
than just an object of appeal, they use them in an athletic way typically associated with masculinity.
The type of female athletics and the female body represented in roller derby skaters combat the
hegemonic societal female norms. These two physical activities require female athletes to
demonstrate huge feats of strength, aggression, and power, which is

that psychological stress could contribute to many illnesses such as hypertension, ulcers, and heart

We need to give our children an introduction to single sex education when they are young. A lot of
research has shown that single sex schools have a great deal of advantages for students. With
benefits ranging from increased participation, to new activities and the loss of gender stereotypes.
For example, on the whole, girls and boys who are educated in single sex schools gain more
confidence than their coed peers. In addition, they make academic gains above those in co ed
schools. They also learn to gravitate towards untraditional areas that are not always accepted for
their gender. Single sex education also has fewer bullying reports and less distractions. Though it
s hard to generalize about all single sex schools, there are some commonalities that tend to
characterize many single sex schools. All of this may be true, yet there are still people who think
that single sex schooling promotes poor social skills and sexisim. They think that the world is a
co ed world, people have to have relationships with cross gender people. Most people get married,
they have family members, they might even work in environment where they have to work across
men and women. Single sex education has a educational and mental effect on children, they are the
future after all, right?
Single sex education is very beneficial for your child s future education. In a single gender school,
there is a very relaxed environment for the simple reason of not having to

Oak Hills High School Research Paper
Greetings incoming freshmen! I have been assigned to give you advice as you make the joyous
transition to Oak Hills high school. Seeing as I have no real highschool experience or social
experience, I am sure this instruction will go beautifully. Ah High school the marvelous and
breathtaking time where hearts are broken and young lives are ruined. Highschool helps you
grow into bright young adults with life experience and social skills. Because, of course shoving
people into lockers and smearing ketchup in stairwells is how intelligent adults behave in the real
world. This social and educational extravaganza was made to educate and prepare the adults of
tomorrow with its lustrous hallways filled with couples searching for each other s tonsils, its
remarkable classrooms with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I mean what do I know? I walked in the doors of Oak Hills three years ago and i have spent
my time here avoiding any and all social contact and events. I, of course would recommend that
you do the same, but then you would miss out on all of your exciting high school experiences. For
example you would miss out on Prom, when going to this event I highly recommend that you
lay off the alcohol, because being the concerned and responsible people we are at Oak HIlls we
breathalyze every few people at this event, so only if you are extremely lucky will you get away
with it. If you are in the vast majority of the population that does not have luck then if you get
caught you will likely be suspended and jeopardize both college and highschool opportunities.
Another exciting event to go to at Oak Hills are the football games. Here you get to witness the
exemplary talent of the band and only the band, I assure you no other performance you see at a
football game will be exemplary. At these football games you get the pleasure of watching the
occasional testosterone fueled fist fights along with listening to the

Hiram Miller—a Essay
Yizhou Xu Section 002 Case: Hiram Miller A
I, the general manager of Hiram Miller Chicago branch, am considering we should have something
done with our current warehouse on Jefferson Street. The basic problem is that the 60 year old
warehouse is not capable for our daily business from many aspects any more as we move into the
21st century. Due to many limitations, the shortcomings to run that warehouse are overwhelming
the advantages it remains. Small size, inefficient layout, obsolete facilities, low tech equipments and
bad working environment are dragging our company down within such an intense competition ...

The quality of the warehouse and the equipments can be improved if we whitewash the warehouse
and replace some old machines with the news. The working environment will be polished up and
make the work more efficient, meanwhile, will not change the basic operating structure. For
example, good condition elevators can eliminate the battle between the shipping and receiving
departments. The second choice is finding a third party warehouse which meets our basic
requirements. We can utilize third party to manage the warehouse and reach our goal as well.
Finally, we can build a new warehouse near the O Hare Airport where has ample of land so that
we can construct a warehouse fully meets our requirements. For our long term benefits, I
strongly suggest to build a new warehouse near the airport. Renovation is a short term solution
and just keeps our business work normally and I cannot believe how long that old fashion
building would maintain. The core problems are the weak floor and the low ceilings which
cannot be restructured. Those will constrain heavy equipment to move in. The work needs to be
done by hand which means slow and more workers. On another hand, if we rent a warehouse
rather than own by ourselves, we will lose the control of the warehouse even though it solves our
problems. Thus, the effective communication and the specialized service may be the problems.
Despite of sacrificing the advantages of inner city location like vicinity of our

The Princess Ideal Beauty And The Beast
As I walk down Main Street USA at Disneyworld in Florida, with the smell of fresh baked candy
sitting in the air, and seeing the dressed up characters walking around, seeing all the little girls
dressed up as their favorite princesses, I can t help but wonder how Walt Disney took something
from his imagination and made it into what it is today. Growing up, every little girldreams of being
just like the princesses that they see in their favorite Disney films. Whether that be Jasmine
from Aladdin, or Belle from Beauty and the Beast, every little girl dreams of finding their own
prince charming, getting married, and living in a castle far far away. Even when we look
around in our society, we see the princess ideal that is shown to young girls, where ever we look
we are shown this. When little girls first see a Disney Princess, they are presented with the ideal
women, long perfect hair, flawless skin, small waist, and long legs. Also, most of the time (minus
Cinderella) always have flawless clothing that they wear. This appeals to almost every little girl
that sees this, and reinforces the ideal that little girls need to be like the princesses that they see on
the movie and television. Disney has regularly played up the role of the femalein their films and

The Reaction Of A Fischer Esterification Reaction
In this experiment, a Fischer Esterification reaction was performed with two unknown
compounds. The unknown compounds, Acid 2 and Alcohol D, were identified by using the
knowledge of the reaction that took place, and the identity of the product that was synthesized.
The identification of the product resulted from analysis of IR and NMR spectra. For this
experiment, Alcohol D and Acid 2 reacted in the presence of concentrated sulfuric acid, resulting
in a colorless solution with brown layer on top. After washes with sodium bicarbonate and brine,
the pale yellow liquid product was dried and then distilled. Distillation resulted in two colorless
fractions, the second of which had a boiling point of 69 70 ЛљC. This boiling point is unrealistic
for any compound obtained in this experiment, so it was not used in identifying the product.
After distillation, both fractions were spectroscopically analyzed. The IR and NMR spectra
obtained for both fraction were identical, meaning both fractions contained exactly the same
substance. Both fractions also smelled the same, like piГ±a colada, therefore confirming this
conclusion. This outcome also meant that the amount of product synthesized was 5.7393 g. For
the identification of the product, IR, 13C NMR and 1H NMR spectra were examined, and the
product was found to be butyl propionate. In the IR spectrum, RM 11 Bi, five key peaks are
observed. These peaks are sp3 hybridized carbons at 2961 cm 1 and 2877 cm 1, an ester at 1737 cm

Essay On Tupac
The genre of rap was born from a simple experiment. On an August night in 1973, Dj Kool Herc
decided during his sister s back to school party to extend an instrumental and start MCing or
rapping over the music. (PBS) This genre like many before it produced controversy that
skyrocketed it into fame and popularity. No artist experienced the rap life more than Tupac 2Pac

Brenda s Got a Baby (peaked at #11 on Hot 100 R B/ Hip hop charts). When reviewed by Source

male from the inner city area of America. Although this approach to the industry wasn t one that
gave him a jump start like the radio heavy songs of his competition during that era, it did hold
truth and leave a mark on those that heard it. The Source Magazine Following a slightly ignored,
but successful run in acting Tupac would produce Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z his second studio

The Manufacture Of Teen Space On Cruise Ships
The Manufacture of Teen Space on Cruise Ships: An Environment of Autonomous, Aspirational
Consumption
Cruise ships are cathedrals of consumption in which consumer activity is controlled and encouraged
by the enchanting environment constructed (Ritzer, 7). Through an atmosphere of spectacle and
grandiosity cruise ships entice spending from passengers. This effect continues throughout all areas
of the ship, including space specifically designed for young travelers. Capitalism s construction
of the child as a consumer is reified in these isolated and purified kids only areas. By creating age
specific kidspaces , cruise ship companies effectively encourage the Kids Getting Older Younger
(KGOY) phenomenon and the growing anti adultism mentality, by granting tweens and teens an
effective façade of independence that allows them to enact their power of consumer choice.
Spaces geared for ages 12 17 will be explored on three major cruise lines; Carnival, Disney, and
Royal Caribbean, in order to better understand the effects of these environments on young
consumers. In order to decipher the ways each cruise line hails the youth audience, this essay will
look at the construction of kidspace as well as the language used to describe each environment.
As mentioned above, cruise ships are in fact consumer spaces. These massive ships encompass so
many facets of contemporary capitalist society. Restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, amusement
parks, spas and nightclubs, are just a start to

Henry And Freud
What would humankind be like if society did not exist? Sigmond Freud explores this train of
thought. Freud had a theory that every person has a large unconscious, and identified that there
were three parts: Id, Ego, and Superego. The Id is a person s instinctual and biological urges and it
focuses on the pleasure principle . The Ego relates to a being s rational and thoughtful mindand it
focuses on the reality principle . The Superego is a person s source of conscience that occupies
socially desirable impulses and operates on the moral principle . In the movie, Regarding Henry, the
main character, Henry, goes through a traumatic experience which causes him to lose his entire

with sudden life changes. He was used to where he was living but then he is almost forced out of
it. Another example of Henry s Id is when he is taking a walk through the city and passes a pet

the store holding the puppy. This is the Id because the Id focuses on the pleasure principle and the

Giacomo Puccini s Madama Butterfly
Madama Butterfly, written by Giacomo Puccini, tells the tragic tale of Cio Cio San and her
American lover through music and lyrics in Italian. The production uses visual imagery to connect
with the audience across language barriers and to create a stunning picture. One example of this
visual imagery is the use of Bunraku and puppetry to portray certain characters. The use of Bunraku
for the child created a lifelike portrayal but could not provide full emotional depth, and the other
puppets towards the beginning of the operafelt unnecessary and confusing. The child puppet
moved in a way that was close to the way and actual child moves, and the realism of this
movement helped me keep the idea of the child in my head as I watched the show. I was able to
ignore the three people controlling the child partly because of what they wore, the dark and veiled
costumes concealing their identities, and partly because the movement and actions looked very
real. When the child walked, the perceived weight shift was correct, and this helped create the
illusion that Cio Cio San had a child with her onstage that was her own. The ability to have a
portrayal of a child onstage helped the emotional connection because it gave... Show more content

connecting with an inanimate object. I understand the need for a puppet to portray this role
because it is a hard piece for a young child to play a part in, but connecting and understanding the

Potassium Sulfate And Sodium Chloride Essay
Introduction A solution is a uniform mixture of two or more components. The components can be
identified as solutes or a solvent. The solutes are the minor components of the solution, and they are
what get dissolved. The solvent is the major component of the solution, and it does the dissolving.
Solutions are measured in terms of solubility. Solubility refers to the maximum amount of solute
that will dissolve in the solvent. When the maximum amount of solute has dissolved, the solution
becomes saturated. In solving the solubility, two things must be known: the mass of the solute and
the mass of the solution.
Different techniques can be used to determine the solubility of a solution, such as filtration through
paper cloth or evaporation by heat. In this experiment, the solubility was obtained through
evaporation of the solvent by heat. Potassium sulfate and sodium chloride will used in solutions to
test the solubilities at room temperature and approximately 40в„ѓ. Potassium sulfate will also be
used in a solution to test the uncertainty of the experiment.

The Little Black Book Of Supervision Essay
In The Little Black Book Of Supervision , Chapter 4 of Managerial Skills, Gil Sargent stresses
upon the importance of planning and organizing in the workplace. The company s resources,
personnel time, tools and equipment should be managed properly. If these are not managed
properly, then it can cost a firm fortune (Sargent, 2003). It is, therefore, necessary that manager
should put to use the time and work study. It means how much time is taken to do a particular
work while at a job. Once it is done, employees should be told about managing time. A firm will
not be able to achieve results if they are not getting the equipment necessary to time. Before
organizing, it is very essential to plan beforehand. As planning is the first and foremost step. In
planning one decides, what is to be done, when is to do and how something is to be done. It
controls the work. take note of the losses such as time lost by employees, any material losses and
equipment and tools losses. Most important thing to note here is that scheduling is just assigning
tasks. It does not mean that effective planning has been done. The process of organizing begins
from analyzing the work, then the plan has to be refined and at the end implement the plan
(Sargent, 2003).
Motivation is a key to get the work done from employees. Employees reward system decides to how
to keep the employee happy and motivated. These should be designed in a way that makes an
employee work on their own. Rewards system only work if

Essay On Colonoscopy
The American College of Gastroenterology Guidelines recommend colonoscopy,as the preferred
cancer screening test for patients 50 years and older(Rex 2017). The technique of Endoscopic
Mucosal Resection (EMR) was developed for removingsessile or flat lesions confined to the
superficial layers (mucosa and submucosa) of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including the colon,
esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. EMR with submucosal injection helps facilitate complete
resection of polyps (Hwang 2015; Fyock 2010; Steele 2013), which is critical, as incomplete

(Hwang 2015). This is typically controlled by snare tip soft coagulation (STSC), a technique
involving protruding the snare tip 2 3 mm beyond the catheter, followed by application of
coagulating current while lightly touching the tip directly onto the bleeding point. Vigorous
irrigation with the foot pump clears the resection field of blood and helps localize the bleeding
vessel. In the minority of cases where STSC does not achieve hemostasis, coagulating forceps or
through the scope (TTS) clips may be used, both of which have been associated with a low rate of
re bleeding and complications. (Ma 2016)
Delayed post polypectomy bleeding (DPPB) is rare after cold snare polypectomy and is usually
related to thermal injury following hot snare polypectomy, occurring in 1 2% of patients with
sessile polyps 20mm in size. The risk of DPPB is directly related to polyp size (risk increases by
9% to 13% for every 1 mm in polyp diameter), right colon lesions, pedunculated morphology, and
polyp pathology. For pedunculated polyps, the increased risk of DPPB is associated with a stalk
exceeding 5 mm, polyp head 20 mm in size, location in right colon, and the presence of
malignancy. Most DPPB cases can be managed endoscopically., In many cases bleeding resolves
spontaneously. Options for endoscopic hemostasis in the event of active bleeding include forceps
coagulation or endoclips. The method selected is based on lesion location, endoscopist

Utilization Of Drones
In today s world, there has been leaps and bounds as far as advancements in technology. Smart
phones, artificial intelligence, self driving cars, and drones. Technology itself is rather
controversial to some. Some say that cell phones are brainwashing people, artificial intelligence
will take over the world. Self driving cars just can never be safe. When it comes to drones, an
entire new root system of controversy sprouts. Drones are remotely piloted airships that can
carry cargo or video cameras long distances, while the pilot sits at a stationary location. Drones
have been used to drop explosives overseas into war zones, and this is where the argument starts.
Should drone strikes be allowed abroad? Studies say, Sure, why not? The utilization of drone
strikes has vastly lowered the civilian death, or collateral damage, in war zones. Previous
weaponry, such as bombs, tanks, or mortars, have been the cause of forty to sixty seven percent of
the deaths of civilians. Since introducing drones, these percentages have dropped to eight to

they are inanimate objects. To risk a simple piece of machinery is far preferable over risking a

Humans And Apes Have An Ape-Like Ancestor
The complete history of human evolution is a long standing mystery scientists have yet to fully
figure out. The topic typically focuses on the evolutionary trajectory of primates, which over the
course of millions of years, has lead to the appearance of anatomically modern humans. As you can
imagine, piecing together beyond ancient history, involves the combined prowess of many
scientific disciplines, and once in a while, a curveball may confuse even the most methodical
anthropologists. Other times, a rare ah ha! moment is encountered, which can shed light on the
complex timeline of Homo Sapiens.
Take, for example, the recent discovery of shoulder blades belonging to two early human
Australopithecus species [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australopithecus], which researchers

Examples Of During Childhood Ignorance Is Bliss
During childhood, ignorance is bliss
What is it about a child that makes truth a fluid, flexible thing?
When I was a kid, I was lied to. A lot. I believed anything, I was impressionable and, honestly
speaking, my mind resembled Play Doh easily molded by whoever got their hands on it. Was I
weak in character? Was I an introvert passively living a life of deceit? Maybe but that s irrelevant.
I did this, you did this, and I m sure that random person you saw cycling next to your car this
morning, did this. We ate it up. Teachers, parents, the seventh graders who conquered the rear of the
bus these were all sources of authority that we never intended to question.

Ophelia Character Analysis
In the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius, is seen as a fair
maiden who wants her love with Hamlet to be eternal. Due to the many warnings from her father
Polonius and her brother Laertes, she succumbs to her father s wishes and plays the role of a good
daughter, thus betraying Hamlet. Previously in the play where Hamlet gives his soliloquy on life
and death, Ophelia has been ordered to break off her relationship with Hamlet while Polonius
eavesdrops to prove that Hamlet has truly gone mad. As a result of Hamlet s supposed madness and
Ophelia s docile character during the confrontation, both of their fragile hearts shatter and Ophelia
begins her dark descent into madness, leading to her eventual death.
Throughout acts one and two of the play, Ophelia in Hamlet s eyes is seen as one of the only
fair and trustworthy outliers in the array of deception. After his soliloquy about life and death
with its dark and apathetic tone, there is a shift when Ophelia is in his presence. As Hamlet
realizes his beloved is approaching, he commands himself, Soft you now! to make sure Ophelia
does not hear what he is saying as if not to corrupt this beauty from heaven (Shakespeare III.i.86).
His mood perks up and the tone of his words become more endearing when he calls her a Nymph

The positive connotation of this word puts Ophelia on a pedestal while

Reasons For Appeasement In Ww2
The definition of appeasement is to make a concession to an enemy power to avoid conflict; which
it was supposed to in WW2. Although appeasement is designed to avoid conflict, some believe that
the appeasement in WW2 just created more conflict and ended up lengthening the war. There are
numerous reasons as to why appeasementwas the right option for Great Britain and France and as
to why they not only wanted, but needed to appease. Examples of these reasons are the US
Separationist Approach, the damage of WW1 and the lack of army and weapons within Great
Britain and France, which was fuelled by the fact that they didn t expect a war due to Versailles.
When World War 1 had ended, Germanyhad been at a great loss due to Versailles. They lost

A New Alliance For A Future North American Union
The three relatively unpopular governments presently enthroned in Washington, Ottawa and
Mexico City, joined in very large companies, most of them American, to establish the foundation for
a future North American Union. This is a new alliance of permanent type within which the
Americans have a de facto predominant influence. It would force Canada and Mexicoto harmonize
many laws and regulations in the interests of the world of Big Business and those of US
administrations primarily concerned with their imperial ambitions and undemocratic worldwide. It
is obvious that such a continental thrust integration plan, both economically and politically, is
substantially different from the original idea of fair and free trade in goods and services, through
the abolition tariff and non tariff barriers between the countries of the hemisphere. This idea first
took shape with the free trade agreement of 1988 between Canada and the United States.
Subsequently, in 1994, Canada had to accept that Mexico is joining the North American Free Trade
Agreement, also forcing him to make substantial concessions on the application of the Investment
Canada Act, which governs foreign takeovers of Canadian companies, in addition to ensuring the
US privileged access to Canadian energy resources. All this should have been enough to open the
US market to Canadian companies. It seems, however, that this is not the case. Large corporations
and the US government want to use the pretext of fighting terrorism

Health Care Services And Health Services
All citizens in such countries are entitled to receive health care services that include routine and
basic health care. Access to health care is very difficult to a lot of people in the United States.
Access to health services means the timely use of personal health services to achieve the best
health outcomes. With access to health services a person can find a health care providerthat he or
she can trust, have access to a health care location where services are provided. Every person in
the United State should have access to health care; no one should be without it. Health care helps
with prevention of disease and disability, physical and mental health status, detect and if possible
treatment of health conditions, and overall improves the quality of life. I would like to work in
the health care where I am able to help inform people on the access of health that is available to
them. A lot of people, especially the poor have no knowledge of what access they have for health
care.
Differences in access to health services affect individuals and society. Limited access to health care
impacts people s ability to reach their full potential, negatively affecting their quality of life. With
this, people without health care with run across hurdles that including lack of availability, high cost
of service and lack of insurance coverage. I learned that the lack of suitable coverage makes it
difficult for people to get the health care they need and, when they do get care, burdens

Edward Luttwak s Analysis On Military Force, Military...
Edward Luttwak s analysis of Roman strategy evaluates the link between military force, military
power, policy, and deterrence. Luttwak describes force as the actual application of a state s
military capability while power is derived from the state s perceived ability to impose force. The
Romans employed a combination of force and power to achieve their policy aims regarding
security. Deterrence provides security by relying on power and the threat of force to prevent an
adversary from committing an unwanted act. Today, United States policy leverages the nation s
perceived power, bolstered by its potential to employ force, in order to deter aggression by
potential adversaries and enhance security. To begin, it is important to explore Luttwak s
definitions of force and power. He describes the use of militaryforce as a finite ability to directly
apply military means in order to force an adversary s compliance. A state s ability to use force is
thus limited by the size of its military capabilityand its ability to concentrate that capability against
an enemy. More importantly, once military forces are committed to an action they are no longer
available to pursue other objectives and are essentially consumed. The implication is that reliance
on military force limits a state s ability to achieve its objectives to the amount of force it can
employ at a given time and place. Examples of the finite nature of military force are numerous.
Luttwak points to

The Debate Of Security Versus Privacy Essay
In 2013, a man named Edward Snowden leaked classified information from the United States
National Security Agency (NSA). With this, the public discovered that even if you re not doing
anything wrong you re being watched and recorded. The presence of a watchful government wasn t
anything new but the means of surveillancewas never fully disclosed by anyone. The biggest
question raised by the public was does our right to privacystill matter? . The NSA claims to be
doing this in order to protect the rights of citizens, not dissipate them. The debate of security
versus privacy has evolved into a choice between liberty and totalitarian control. Even if tyranny
arises due to a global threat, once it s established, the people are without a voice. Liberty requires
security without intrusion, security plus privacy. Even if people have nothing to hide, they should
hold onto their rights to privacy as it is better than submitting themselves to the will of an absolute
power. For free will is the most valuable characteristic of life on earth because with it, we act as
individuals rather than subservient drones. in fiction. George Orwell s 1984 introduces the concept
of Big Brother, referring to the omnipotence of government surveillance. The framing of Big
Brother represents government surveillance at its worst; Any defection from the norm will result in
a person being tortured into submission. In reality, this form of blatant government surveillance will
always be met

Textual Analysis Of Tony Early s Essay Simply Form A Family

EN 103 Prof. McSpadden
Textual Analysis
In his essay Somehow Form a Family Tony Early uses structure and tone to convey his use of
television as an escape into an alternate reality and a way to mask his problems. In the years
following his family s purchase of the Zenith television, Early is faced with many challenges such
as an absentee father, a loss of religion, a mental breakdown, and the loss of his sister. During all
of these challenges television is there for him, promising him that life will get better. Early uses
structure to show how big a part television plays in his life. He arranges the essay chronologically

The first example of his lack of emotion is his opinion of his father. He hides the announcement
of his fathers absence in a paragraph filled with a vivid description of his family s television
watching habits. He simply writes, Daddy...moved out followed by his and Shelly s after school
television schedule(19). The only emotion is added in at the end of the paragraph with his
statement that, [they]went to school angry which simply declares his emotion while remaining
neutral to the situation(20). When his father buys him the golf clubs and he overhears his
parents conversation he does not declare any emotion he simply tells what happened and then
moves on to speaking about Shock Theatre on Channel 13 (20). The first time we see true
emotion, especially a positive emotion, after the purchase of the television is when he is
speaking of The Brady Bunch. His tone is happier when he is writing about his imaginary life
with the Brady s. He seems proud of his imaginary affair and his response to Greg Brady beat[ing
him] up (20). This is the most emotion in his writing since the Zenith was brought into their house.
The third example is his reaction to his sister s death. He writes, Shelly died on Christmas Eve
morning...She had wrecked Mama s car. That night I stayed up late and watched the Pope deliver
the Christmas mass from the Vatican. There was nothing

Examples Of Learned Helplessness
Since childhood Sandra had experienced numerous difficulties in her life, began by her father
who was continuously abusing her in different ways, his actions had developed a sense of
helplessness inside of her that stayed with her for many years to follow at the age of 22 Sandra
got married to her husband who at first seemed to be a man of well manners, but it was proven
later on that he was completely the opposite of her expectations, besides he had also created an
abusive unhealthy environment for her which has further increased her level of helplessness.
Learned helplessness is defined as the inability to take control over one s life due to a previous
lack of control in important life outcomes (manyu li ,vaishali mardhekar, alka wadkar may 1 2012 )
The Learned helplessness phenomenon is proposed as a model for the emotional numbing and

that they no control or power to change their current stressful situation to a better situation
(bronwyn harris 9 oct 2014) Some people use the mechanism of learned helplessness to deal with
painful situations. For example a child who is been abused by their guardian and a partner who is
been abused by their other half will adapt the behavior of being submissive and accommodating to
their abuser s behaviour ,as they feel that they cannot fight with the situation and escaping from it is
impossible.(bronwyn harris 9 oct

Value Chain Analysis By Jim Riley
Jim Riley published study notes about value chain analysis and he teaches that value chain analysis
describes the activities that take place in a business and relates these activities to an analysis of the
competitive strength of the business. This paper includes comparing and contrasting two articles.
The first article is The 7 Steps of Software Development Case Study Chapter 1 but the second one
is ValueChain Analysis by Jim Riley. Also, these two articles will be applied to the company Pep
Boys, which I chose to do the value chainanalysis to. Since I do not work yet, I chose Pep Boys
because my close friend works there as a vice president of marketing. There are seven traditional
steps that can go bad in a software development project but if you follow all these steps than your
software project is going to be in a better shape and it should not have that many crashes. The first
step is preliminary investigation or analysis, where software developers and project managers
clarify the requirements to project sponsors. Second is specification and requirements analysis,
which involves taking the requirements and describing them in a way meaningful to programmers.
The third step is design or architecture, which gets into more low level details. The next step is
where the program is built, also called as development or coding. The fifth step is testing and
documentation, which makes sure that the program functions as required and that the program s
functionality is

The Importance Of Women s Army Corps During WWII
After the posters and women taking over jobs that helped the war such as WAC
(Women s Army Corps). The Women s Army Corps did not pass into law for a year after it was
introduced and it became into law because of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The women gained
their official status and salary but they still were treated unfairly because they did not get equal
pay or benefits like the men did. Women Corps performed variety of jobs such as, clerk, radio
operator, electricians and aircraft controller. The women later on got veteran benefits and were a
total of 16,000 women army corps. While the war was going on and after couple months since
Pearl Harbor, the United States President Franklin Roosevelt signed a law executive order 9066

There were only sounds of bombs and bullets that morning; they destroyed eighteen American

premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to
absolute victory. I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert
that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make very certain that this form
of treachery shall never endanger us again. Next day congress had approved the declaration of
war. Towards the end of world war two, United States looked to a new weapon known as the b 29

The Importance Of Following Directions In Law Enforcement
Following directions is one of the most important skills in life. The ability to follow direction
the way you are told and the way it is suppose to be done is a recipe for success. Following
directions helps avoid preventable mistakes that may cause costly mistakes and as it pertains to
law enforcement, someone s life. Making sure you are paying attention to instruction is critical,
and nowhere is this truer than in the workplace. Always follow steps carefully, know what you
are supposed to do and when you are supposed to do it. In regards to law enforcement following
directions is crucial to the safety of yourself and to others whether it be, firearms, officer
survival, enforcing the law, or just contacting a citizen. Following directions on a gun range is
extremely important because when there are people other then yourself with loaded weapons
you need to be aware of everything that is going on at all times. If you don t understand
something or don t hear a command given by an instructor, you need to as Mr. Robertson would
say, speak up! . Any mistake made on the gun range is preventable, it s up to us the students to
make sure we are following our safety rules and following directions to keep the class running
smoothly for everyone. Following directions is more then just listening to someone give orders, it
can be something such as obeying the policies set forth by your agency. Following direction is
paying attention to detail and doing things right the first time. The

Developing Technology And Integrated Hsr System
China, by far, has the largest existing HSR network, followed by Japan, France, Spain and
Germany. China also has the most ambitious expansion plans, with the most kilometers of lines
currently under construction and the most planned. Spain is also undergoing an HSR construction
and planning boom, with France and Turkey also notably having ambitious HSR expansion plans.
If it is assumed that expansion proceeds as planned, in the next few decades, China will have the
largest HSR network, with Spain and France in a distant second and third, both surpassing Japan in
total system size. Overall, Japan has the most developed and integrated HSR system, being the first

France has the fastest tested time for a non maglev, steel wheeled train, at 574 km/h. It is a matter
of history that H Neuvon, who was a member of the Japanese delegation (1960) visiting France
about the 25kV overhead traction system and played an important role in the first Shinkansen, was
closely associated with the Indian Railways in introducing the Rajdhani Express trains. While IR is
still stuck at the 1964 determined 130 kmph restriction, the Japanese have already migrated to
double the speed already.
China, while being a newcomer to HSR, has very rapidly expanded its HSR system and has some of
the most ambitious plans, by far, of any country for HSR expansion within the country and across
the entire Asian continent. In contrast, the United States as a whole has only just recently, with the
endorsement and backing of President Obama, begun an effort to develop HSR by allotting funds
for the exploration, planning, and in some cases, building of regional HSR systems.
Having said this, part of the current efforts to develop HSR includes funding projects, such the one
in California, connecting Sacramento to L.A., which have been in the planning phases for some time

  • 2. Jd Salinger Essay Salinger, J(erome) D(avid) (1919 ), American novelist and short story writer, known for his stories dealing with the intellectual and emotional struggles of adolescents who are alienated from the empty, materialistic world of their parents. Salinger s work is marked by a profound sense of craftsmanship, a keen ear for dialogue, and a deep awareness of the frustrations of life in America after World War II (1939 1945). Jerome David Salinger was born and raised in New York City. He began writing fiction as a teenager. After graduating from the Valley Forge Military Academy in 1936, he began studies at several colleges in the New York City area, but he took no degree. He did, however, take a fiction writing class with Whit Burnett, an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the early 1960s, Salinger virtually stopped writing for publication and disappeared from public view into his rural New Hampshire home. In an interview that he granted during the 1970s, Salinger maintained that he continues to write daily, and has merely rejected publication as quot;a terrible invasion of his privacy. quot; Salinger s reclusiveness added to his cult status. II. Works Print section The Catcher in the Rye is narrated by Holden Caulfield, a 16 year old boy who has just flunked out of his third private boarding school. Unwilling to remain at school until the end of the term, Holden runs away to New York City. He does not contact his parents, who live there, but instead drifts around the city for two days. The bulk of the novel is an account, at once hilariously funny and tragically moving, of Holden s adventures in Manhattan. These include disillusioning encounters with two nuns, a suave ex schoolmate, a prostitute named Sunny, and a sympathetic former teacher who may be homosexual. Finally, drawn by his affection for his ten year old sister, Phoebe, Holden abandons his spree and returns home. Salinger s depiction of Holden Caulfield is considered one of the most convincing portrayals of an adolescent in literature. Intelligent, sensitive, and imaginative, Holden desires acceptance into the adult world even though he is sickened and obsessed by what he regards as its quot;phonies, quot; including his teachers, parents, and his older ... • 3. Owen Meany Quotes Passage 7 Quote #2 Owen Meany would accuse Calvin of bad faith. There were no accidents; there was a reason for that baseball just as there was a reason for Owen being small, and a reason for his voice. In Owen s opinion, he had INTERRUPTED AN ANGEL, he had DISTURBED AN ANGEL AT WORK, he had UPSET THE SCHEME OF THINGS. I choose this Quote because it is a huge turning point in the Novel, If Owen hadn t interrupted that angel Owen wouldn t have killed Tabby and the chain of events that lead to Owen Dying would never have occurred. This is when I truly started to believe that Owen doesn t have free will at all and that God is going to Steer his fate. This passage is a great example of the theme of Free will Versus fait. I think that the whole novel is a chain of events that no matter what the characters do will end up in Owen and Tabby Dying. For instance on her wedding day When the chunk of Hail hits Tabby in the Head its foreshadowing that something no matter what will kill her. It is part of Disney HK s rationale in creating a unique experience of Disney s magic and Chinese culture to position itself as a premium theme park in Hong Kong and the Asian region, a theme park that would come to mind for international tourists and to engage potential mainland Chinese visitors (Disney HK, 2012). It is the core strategy for Disney HK in sustaining its position, profitability and competitive advantage in the long run. 1|Page Disney HK has failed to reach its target number of 5.6 million visitors in the first year of operation, achieving a total of slightly over 5 million visitors well under its expectation. In the second and third year of operation, the park visitors were recorded at 4.17 and 4.5 million respectively (Tai and Lau, 2009). This led to a loss in profit incurred by Disney HK over three years of operation despite its effort on integrating to Chinese culture and attempt to create a high value and unique customer s experience to the Disney magic. As a result of the loss, Walt Disney and the creditors of Disney HK had eased the pressure on payments over management fees and royalties, performance targets on its commercial loan were also removed (HK SAR, 1999). In the following year, an opportunity presented itself as Walt Disney had cleared its commercial loans, where Walt Disney was relieved from a major obstacle from realising ... Pre Eclampsia Research Paper A popular hypothesis explaining the cause of pre eclampsia is immune maladaptation(14).To date, the etiology of preeclampsia is not completely understood, however an increasing body of evidence indicates the involvement of the immune system in the form of faulty tolerance to the conceptus as an fundamental part of the pathogenesis(50).The immune system has been incriminated in the pathophysiology of preeclampsia with alterations in the cellular immunity and cytokines production that are work toward the maintenance of pregnancy(76). The maternal immune response against the fetusand placenta has too been proposed to have an central role in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia(185). In contrast to normal pregnancy, there are indications of increased inflammatory responses and also of an immune deviation toward Th1 in the established preeclamptic pregnancy (183). South Africa Is a Sick Nation 1.Comments in Jansen words saying South Africa is a sick nation: I agree, because according to Jansen: We burn down and break down: Every time there is a problem people doesn t like to wait for negotiations with the government but they just burn the properties of the state and all the important assets for service delivery and equipment. If people strike they burn cars, hospitals, police stations and they forget that tomorrow they will need those things that is why I agree with Jansen that South Africa is a sick country. We turn over garbage cans: We take all the trash cans and pour them on the street as a sign of being angry and not satisfied and this can result in problems such as dirty streets, air and land pollution and it will affect our lives and put our lives in danger. We beat each other senseless with chairs in the political rallies: We don t have shame or don t think for the lives of others because we harm them in such a way as if they don t live with us they are not part of us and we destroy our morals and respect by fighting our brothers and sister instead of fighting the problems that we are facing in the country. We threaten each other and we kill each other We like to set standard for others and tell them if they don t reach those standard or certain activities that they were given we are going to kill them. We forget that killing each other won t bring peace in our nation but it will just bring shame and too much hatred to us and we won t ... • 9. Political and Religious Motivations in Dante Alighieri’s... I: Introduction For many years Dante Alighieri s epic poem the Divine Comedia has been known as a work born from his religious perspective and internal conflict of faith. Many have suggested that he wrote the text to share his perspective of Christianity with the world. However, beyond religious implications, Dante sought just as equally, if not more so, to share his political philosophy and the agony inspired by some of the political occurrences in his life with the world. It is important, then, to consider the following question: to what extent is Dante s Inferno a politically motivated text rather than a religious one? Alighieri s epic, particularly Inferno, is not solely a religious text, as it has been thought of by so many for so many years, but rather is an allegorical political text. This can be seen most clearly in the first three cantos of the Inferno, though it is also present in the rest of the poem. The first three cantos will be the most focused upon here, supplemented with substance from the next seven as well. As one of the most influential works of literature ever written, arguably the most influential religious works ever written (aside from religious foundational texts such as the Bible and the Qur an), and one of the most widely known epics ever written, it is necessary that the world strives to gain a complete understanding of what the author s true purpose is, and thus what the true intended contribution of the work is as well. Propaganda has been used throughout the modern century and far back to the beginning of religion and literature, it eventually carried over to the US with many iconic forms of propaganda such as, We want you for the US army, and We can do it (Mach). Nevertheless there are many other powerful types and examples of propagandathat influenced American wars, many of which were shown in the American Civil War. Four examples are, the Emancipation Proclamation, the church, Dixie, and King Cotton. The Emancipation Proclamation was Northern propaganda which declared slavery illegal, though it did not go into effect immediately and was had to be submitted twice till it became effective. • 13. Migration And Racial Tension Of Australia Migration and racial tension I believe that the two topics that I have chosen relate to each other in many ways. The racial tension came from the migrating races to Australia, and the issues that the Australians of the time had with the new people . The migration occurred because there was a growing business in a new country, there were more opportunities for trade and everyone wanted to try their luck on the gold fields. I found the migrating story s from the Chinese to be more of an interesting theme. This is the same with the racial tension, the mass groups of Chinese were the main targets with the racism. Most migrants that came to Australia to grab a share of the gold rush, left behind family and home. In traditional Chinese culture this was particularly difficult for them to come from a parent s heavy focused family system, to an alien country to live. The Chinese people that came to Australia were typically men brining there family over with them to work for an income that would be big enough to support them. The wife however was left at home to forfill the role of looking after her in laws in this time. The family would have to work for them aswell, and send a percentage of there profit over. As the population of chinses immergents started to climb, they were starting to become apart of population statistics. The story begins with the protagonist, Gregor. He is a bony eleven year old boy. He lives in a hot, cramped apartment with his poor, struggling family. He is living in a state of frustration. His seven year old sister Lizzie gets to go off to camp, while he is stuck at home watching his 2 year old sister, who is called Boots. The rats have a hatred for Overlanders and decide to eat Gregor and Boots. A fight ensues. Gregor and Boots are rescued by the Regalians, but not without casualties. They are taken back to the city. There, Gregor finds out about a prophecy called The Prophecy of the Gray . Vikus thinks will be fulfilled by Gregor. Now it is time to start the Quest to save Regalia from the Rats. But, Gregor is a reluctant warrior. He doesn t think that he is really the one to save them all. He doesn t want to believe that the responsibility is his. Vikus reveals the information that Gregor s father is alive and being held prisoner by the rats. Gregor learns that where there is life, there is hope! Gregor now has his own quest, to rescue his father from the rats! Gregor captures the imagination of anyone who has some frustrations in their life. The objectives of this paper include discussing Dr. Torrance s background, a reflection of his work in creativity, how his work has influenced program offerings, and how Dr. Torrance s work could impact our work with aging. Lastly, I will discuss what I have learned from studying him. Dr. Ellis Paul Torrance was born in 1915 to a farming family in rural Georgia (Childs, 2013). In 1946, after leaving the Army, Torrance started his career at Kansas State College in the counseling bureau where soon after he was transitioned into the role of Dean of Men and a few years later returned as Director of the Counseling Bureau and professor of psychology (Bert 2002). In 1951, he was appointed Director of Survival Research in the Air Force, and in1957 he developed a definition of survival creativity, whenever one is faced with a problem for which he has no practiced or learned solution, some degree of creativity is required (Millar, 1995). During his time at the Air Force, he wrote 135 research papers with his colleagues on survival and creativity and began designing creativity tests (Bert, 2002). His research studies continued and he began to publish books and more research studies(Childs, 2013). As a professor of educational psychology at the University of Georgia, he invented the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking setting the standard for measuring creativity (Bert, 2002). He also developed the Future Problem Solving Program, which is known all over the world (Bert, 2002). A person is judged and policed according to what they do to themselves, the way in which they present themselves to society, and by the things they associate themselves with. Bodywork allows a person to consciously tailor their body to their specific desires and needs. The body is a physical tool, but also a means of communicating. Thus, this essay will outline how female participation in bodywork, specifically in regards to roller derby, can be both empowering and disempowering at the same time depending on which aspects a person chooses to emphasize and their perspective used to analyze it. The women are encouraged to build more toned and muscular bodies but the also incorporates hyper femininity, in which the derby girls choose their attire. Generally, female participation is categorized as empowering or disempowering according to the hegemonic ideals and stereotypes, which are instituted and policed by society but rarely questioned. The ideal female body is supposed to be constructed to appear as being small, thin, frail, and beautiful by removing hair, controlling weight, exercising, utilizing makeup, and wearing the appropriate feminine attire (StrГјbel Petrie, 2016). In other words, the ideal female body being policed by society is not created to be powerful or athletic, but rather an object to be gazed upon by the outside eye. However, many females construct and utilize their bodies in a way that is more than just an object of appeal, they use them in an athletic way typically associated with masculinity. The unknown compounds, Acid 2 and Alcohol D, were identified by using the knowledge of the reaction that took place, and the identity of the product that was synthesized. The identification of the product resulted from analysis of IR and NMR spectra. For this experiment, Alcohol D and Acid 2 reacted in the presence of concentrated sulfuric acid, resulting in a colorless solution with brown layer on top. After washes with sodium bicarbonate and brine, the pale yellow liquid product was dried and then distilled. Distillation resulted in two colorless fractions, the second of which had a boiling point of 69 70 ЛљC. This boiling point is unrealistic for any compound obtained in this experiment, so it was not used in identifying the product. After distillation, both fractions were spectroscopically analyzed. The IR and NMR spectra obtained for both fraction were identical, meaning both fractions contained exactly the same substance. Both fractions also smelled the same, like piГ±a colada, therefore confirming this conclusion. This outcome also meant that the amount of product synthesized was 5.7393 g. For the identification of the product, IR, 13C NMR and 1H NMR spectra were examined, and the product was found to be butyl propionate. In the IR spectrum, RM 11 Bi, five key peaks are observed. These peaks are sp3 hybridized carbons at 2961 cm 1 and 2877 cm 1, an ester at 1737 cm 1, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The solutes are the minor components of the solution, and they are what get dissolved. The solvent is the major component of the solution, and it does the dissolving. Solutions are measured in terms of solubility. Solubility refers to the maximum amount of solute that will dissolve in the solvent. When the maximum amount of solute has dissolved, the solution becomes saturated. In solving the solubility, two things must be known: the mass of the solute and the mass of the solution. Different techniques can be used to determine the solubility of a solution, such as filtration through paper cloth or evaporation by heat. In this experiment, the solubility was obtained through evaporation of the solvent by heat. The Little Black Book Of Supervision Essay In The Little Black Book Of Supervision , Chapter 4 of Managerial Skills, Gil Sargent stresses upon the importance of planning and organizing in the workplace. The company s resources, personnel time, tools and equipment should be managed properly. If these are not managed properly, then it can cost a firm fortune (Sargent, 2003). It is, therefore, necessary that manager should put to use the time and work study. It means how much time is taken to do a particular work while at a job. Once it is done, employees should be told about managing time. A firm will not be able to achieve results if they are not getting the equipment necessary to time. Before organizing, it is very essential to plan beforehand. As planning is the first and foremost step. In planning one decides, what is to be done, when is to do and how something is to be done. It controls the work. take note of the losses such as time lost by employees, any material losses and equipment and tools losses. Most important thing to note here is that scheduling is just assigning tasks. It does not mean that effective planning has been done. The process of organizing begins from analyzing the work, then the plan has to be refined and at the end implement the plan (Sargent, 2003). Motivation is a key to get the work done from employees. • 34. Utilization Of Drones In today s world, there has been leaps and bounds as far as advancements in technology. Smart phones, artificial intelligence, self driving cars, and drones. Technology itself is rather controversial to some. Some say that cell phones are brainwashing people, artificial intelligence will take over the world. Self driving cars just can never be safe. When it comes to drones, an entire new root system of controversy sprouts. Drones are remotely piloted airships that can carry cargo or video cameras long distances, while the pilot sits at a stationary location. Drones have been used to drop explosives overseas into war zones, and this is where the argument starts. Should drone strikes be allowed abroad? Studies say, Sure, why not? The utilization of drone strikes has vastly lowered the civilian death, or collateral damage, in war zones. Previous weaponry, such as bombs, tanks, or mortars, have been the cause of forty to sixty seven percent of the deaths of civilians. Since introducing drones, these percentages have dropped to eight to seventeen percent. The accuracy of the strikes has greatly depleted the rates of civilian... This postwar prosperity fueled the purchase of material goods by the American people as personal savings were at an all time high (Divine 946). The advertising industry turned from wartime propaganda to advertisement of consumer goods. The Phillips Jones Corporation, who manufactured Van Heusen apparel, used print advertisement to promote its product. The topic typically focuses on the evolutionary trajectory of primates, which over the course of millions of years, has lead to the appearance of anatomically modern humans. As you can imagine, piecing together beyond ancient history, involves the combined prowess of many scientific disciplines, and once in a while, a curveball may confuse even the most methodical anthropologists. Other times, a rare ah ha! moment is encountered, which can shed light on the complex timeline of Homo Sapiens. Nathan Young, a researcher behind the study published recently in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,, highlights this fact in a news release in a news release. I believed anything, I was impressionable and, honestly speaking, my mind resembled Play Doh easily molded by whoever got their hands on it. Was I weak in character? Was I an introvert passively living a life of deceit? Maybe but that s irrelevant. I did this, you did this, and I m sure that random person you saw cycling next to your car this morning, did this. We ate it up. Teachers, parents, the seventh graders who conquered the rear of the bus these were all sources of authority that we never intended to question. Why yes, there were monsters in our closets. Christopher Columbus was an adventuresome, completely wholesome man who had the courage to discover a new world. And Santa Claus, he was a jolly old man with a white beard filled with secrets and magic. I once asked my grade 1 teacher why she would tell us lies particularly about colonialism. Until I hit puberty, I was taught no, I earnestly believed that Columbus was a hero, a role model. • 38. Ophelia Character Analysis In the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius, is seen as a fair maiden who wants her love with Hamlet to be eternal. Due to the many warnings from her father Polonius and her brother Laertes, she succumbs to her father s wishes and plays the role of a good daughter, thus betraying Hamlet. Previously in the play where Hamlet gives his soliloquy on life and death, Ophelia has been ordered to break off her relationship with Hamlet while Polonius eavesdrops to prove that Hamlet has truly gone mad. As a result of Hamlet s supposed madness and Ophelia s docile character during the confrontation, both of their fragile hearts shatter and Ophelia begins her dark descent into madness, leading to her eventual death. Throughout acts one and two of the play, Ophelia in Hamlet s eyes is seen as one of the only fair and trustworthy outliers in the array of deception. After his soliloquy about life and death with its dark and apathetic tone, there is a shift when Ophelia is in his presence. As Hamlet realizes his beloved is approaching, he commands himself, Soft you now! to make sure Ophelia does not hear what he is saying as if not to corrupt this beauty from heaven (Shakespeare III.i.86). His mood perks up and the tone of his words become more endearing when he calls her a Nymph (III.i.87). Shakespeare s diction here further builds upon how the audience sees their relationship. Although appeasement is designed to avoid conflict, some believe that the appeasement in WW2 just created more conflict and ended up lengthening the war. There are numerous reasons as to why appeasementwas the right option for Great Britain and France and as to why they not only wanted, but needed to appease. Examples of these reasons are the US Separationist Approach, the damage of WW1 and the lack of army and weapons within Great Britain and France, which was fuelled by the fact that they didn t expect a war due to Versailles. This is a new alliance of permanent type within which the Americans have a de facto predominant influence. It would force Canada and Mexicoto harmonize many laws and regulations in the interests of the world of Big Business and those of US administrations primarily concerned with their imperial ambitions and undemocratic worldwide. It is obvious that such a continental thrust integration plan, both economically and politically, is substantially different from the original idea of fair and free trade in goods and services, through the abolition tariff and non tariff barriers between the countries of the hemisphere. This idea first took shape with the free trade agreement of 1988 between Canada and the United States. Subsequently, in 1994, Canada had to accept that Mexico is joining the North American Free Trade Agreement, also forcing him to make substantial concessions on the application of the Investment Canada Act, which governs foreign takeovers of Canadian companies, in addition to ensuring the US privileged access to Canadian energy resources. • 42. Edward Luttwak s Analysis On Military Force, Military... Edward Luttwak s analysis of Roman strategy evaluates the link between military force, military power, policy, and deterrence. Luttwak describes force as the actual application of a state s military capability while power is derived from the state s perceived ability to impose force. The Romans employed a combination of force and power to achieve their policy aims regarding security. Deterrence provides security by relying on power and the threat of force to prevent an adversary from committing an unwanted act. Today, United States policy leverages the nation s perceived power, bolstered by its potential to employ force, in order to deter aggression by potential adversaries and enhance security. To begin, it is important to explore Luttwak s definitions of force and power. He describes the use of militaryforce as a finite ability to directly apply military means in order to force an adversary s compliance. A state s ability to use force is thus limited by the size of its military capabilityand its ability to concentrate that capability against an enemy. More importantly, once military forces are committed to an action they are no longer available to pursue other objectives and are essentially consumed. The implication is that reliance on military force limits a state s ability to achieve its objectives to the amount of force it can employ at a given time and place. Examples of the finite nature of military force are numerous. Luttwak points to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The biggest question raised by the public was does our right to privacystill matter? . The NSA claims to be doing this in order to protect the rights of citizens, not dissipate them. The debate of security versus privacy has evolved into a choice between liberty and totalitarian control. Even if tyranny arises due to a global threat, once it s established, the people are without a voice. Liberty requires security without intrusion, security plus privacy. Even if people have nothing to hide, they should hold onto their rights to privacy as it is better than submitting themselves to the will of an absolute power. The first step is preliminary investigation or analysis, where software developers and project managers clarify the requirements to project sponsors. Second is specification and requirements analysis, which involves taking the requirements and describing them in a way meaningful to programmers.
