The two most important battles in the Revolutionary war were the Battle of
Saratoga in the north and the Siege of Yorktown in the south. These two battles
were parts of the Revolutionary War, which was a civil war with two sides the
British Loyalists and the Patriots. These two battles are important because they were
major advances for the Patriot side of the war.
The Battle of Saratoga was fought on October 17, 1777 in Saratoga, New York. This
battle was known as the turning point in the war for the Patriots side and when the
French decided to get involved and team up with the Patriots. The Patriots won the
Battle of Saratoga when 5,895 British and Hessian (allies with the British) troops
with General Burgoyne leading them surrendered their weapons. Without this victory

One trial learning is a theory much like the name sounds, learning that takes place in

learned from cues which tell a person to do a behavior rather than from being
conditioned through rewards that followed the behaviors. Many conditioned
responses occur as a result of the one trial learning such as taste aversion to certain

In Cyra McFaddin s article published in the New York Times titled In Defense of
Gender, she asserts that male pronouns should not be eliminated from written and
spoken English works. McFaddin uses satire in an attempt to make readers
sympathetic to a writer s problem of trying to be nondiscriminatory by using gender
neutral language. Cyra McFaddin s goal is to convince readers that gender neutral
language won t solve any problems or advance feminist ideas because she believes
some take it to the extreme. She also thinks that using slashes and the term person
makes the English language sound cumbersome and will never please everyone. I
disagree with McFaddin. She is quick to criticize the progress that others are
attempting to make without offering a solution to the gender neutral language that
she so despises. I believe that any progress forward is worthwhile, and accuracy is
paramount. Ultimately, everyone just wants to be included in the default. While
McFaddin attempts to use humor to cover her complaints of how bland or distracting
writing seems when gender neutral language is used, and how it doesn t aid in the
development of relationships when used; inclusion of everyone is much more
valuable and worthwhile.

Teachers should show that they care about their students by being kind, showing
compassion and asking about students life s outside of the classroom setting. I
agree with Lavoie when he discusses how teachers should ask questions about
student s personal life s because this way students can feel like they have a special

I am a student who is motivated by people. For example, when an adult figure in my
life, like my parents for instance compliment me on my achievements, I feel way

Dreiser in his newspaper article named A Certain Oil Refinery . In the article,
Dreiser offers a very bleak and realistic description of an oil refinery in Bayonne,
New Jersey. He describes the crude working environment in which the workers find
themselves toiling day and night in the dark, sinister caverns of the refinery. The
whole article gives off a feeling of industrial realism, illustrating the darksome
rooftops of the factories and the dreary, unkempt environment its smoke was

does truly mean what he says when he apologizes. So much so that he runs away
