Throughout his writing career, CS Lewis has been known for writing many books
with a hint of biblical connotations in them. As Kathryn Lindskoog states, CS Lewis

being of the readers, assuring them that he is on their side. Yet another connection is
the associative connection. Lewis uses words that a child can associate with. Every
child knows, loves and anticipates the idea of Father Christmas, and so when Lewis
explains that the White Witch has kept Father Christmas out of Narnia, he instills an
idea in the reader s mind that the Witch must be a terrible person. At another point
in the book, Aslan warns the children, if the witch is to be finally defeated before
bedtime we must find the battle at once (191). Here, Lewis uses a word, bedtime,
which every child has heard and is familiar with, allowing the child to better
understand the story. Again, when Aslan (the symbol of Christ) dies, a child may be
able to better sympathize with the death of an animal rather than that of a great figure
who lived two thousand years ago. Even the fact that Lewis credits the resurrection of
Aslan to the Deep Magic provides a medium that explicates the much harder
theological implications found in the Bible (Brennan).

The first element of art that is used in this work of art is line, which can be seen
throughout the entire painting. Indeed, the first thing I noticed was variety of lines

Beethoven Monologuel Orchestra
The Seoul Philharmonics Orchestra were unique and performed phenomenally.
When I first started to watch the orchestra, I thought I was going to be very dreary
because it was a performance I would have to watch. However, Seoul Orchestra was
the complete opposite. The concert is called Beethoven Symphony No.9 and it was a
full orchestra. The performers that performed were all professionals. I chose to watch
this performance because Beethoven is one of my favorite classical composers and

This year on Spring Break my family went on vacation to Punta Cana, Dominican
Republic. We traveled there a couple of times when I was younger, but don t have
any memories except for the flight. I want to share two favorite things that were
awesome about our trip, the food and the gift shops. I really enjoyed both of them
because the food tasted delicious and the gift shops had a bunch of cool items such as

future, if it is not already possible, I would not be surprised if a simulator can be
developed for any situation by simply inputting a given situation, and the soldiers will
be able to use the simulator before going into the actual combat situation.

In the 1981 film Gallipoli, directed by Peter Weir, there are various emotions felt
throughout the film that help to express important themes. Excitement and sadness
are two key feelings that are focused on, nearly every scene. They help emphasise the
wastefulness of young life and potential, but also the patriotic attitude towards war at
the time.
Gallipoli follows young athlete Archie Hamilton on his journey to fight alongside the

A sad tone is expressed throughout the entirety of the film, and helps develop the
themes of the wastefulness of life and potential during war. A visual technique that
shows this emotion/theme is the close up of Archie s watch. We first see a close up
of his watch in the opening scene where Uncle Jack is timing his races. Later, just
before Archie and the men go over the top, we see another close up of Archie s
watch as he hangs it on the bayonet. This is symbolic of Archie s time running out;
that his time is about to end, and gives the scene a sad connotation. This close up
also links the beginning and the end of the film, and emphasises how great Archie
could have been, reiterating the idea of the wastefulness of life and potential.
Lighting is a key film technique that can immensely impact emotions and themes.
During the scene where the soldiers disembark onto the shores of Gallipoli, the
director uses a blue filter to give the scene a more eerie and sad feel. In using this,
Peter Weir was able to use the scene to create a big impact on the mood of the film.
Immediately after they disembark, we see that the soldiers moods have changed.
They are now starting to realise the reality of war, and have had a change in
perspective. Sadness is now the dominant theme for most of the rest of the film.
The colour blue is associated with seriousness, so is an ideal filter to use for a
scene like this to help portray sadness. A panning shot of all the soldiers corpses
after they go over the top is also extremely effective. The shot consists of a slow
pan across the battlefield looking at all of the corpses lying on the ground.
Immediately, the emotion of sadness sinks in, as this scene portrays the
wastefulness of life the most effectively. The film ends abruptly with an 8 second
freeze frame of Archie as he is shot. Archie looks as if he is breasting the tape at the

page divided them into three categories: comedies, histories and, tragedies. The list
of comedies included Measure for Measure and The Merchant of Venice, plays that
modern audiences and readers have not found particularly funny. Also included
were two late plays, The Tempest and The Winter s Tale, that critics often now
classify as romances (Mullan). If we ask ourselves what these four plays have in
common with those such as As You Like It or Twelfth Night; which we are used to
calling comedies, the answer gives us a clue to the meaning of comedyfor many of
