Possibility Of The American Dream
The American Dream is a goal that many, if not all, Americans hope to achieve. The definition
differs among those that dream of it, but the general idea is the same: to find some sort of success
in life. The American Dream does not come easy to everyone; some believe that over time, the
American Dream has become unachievable. The American Dream is still accessible; it just takes a
lot of effort, confidence, and sacrifice to achieve.
The American Dream is not an easy thing to achieve. There could be multiple things stopping
you from achieving it. For some people, self reliance and sacrifice are what make it the
American Dream possible. In the article, Is the American Dream Still Possible? by David
Wallechinsky, the author believes that self reliance and sacrifice are needed to achieve the
American Dream. Wallechinsky writes about a woman named Shelly Comer who has worked
her whole life to give her kids a good life. She has an annual income of $70,377. Shelly says, But
I have nothing saved for me... I m putting it all into the kids, so that they can succeed in school,
(Wallechinsky, 11). Shelly is giving the money she would use for herself to her kids in order for
her kids to have good lives. Another example is from the movie adaption of Raisin in the Sun,
written by Lorraine Hansberry. Raisin in the Sun is a movie about an African Americanfamily
living in the south side of Chicago during the 1950s. The Younger family gets a check for $10,000

Gender And Social Aspects Of The Sexual Revolution In The...
Industrial revolution was the change to new manufacturing process that took place in the 18th to
the 19th century. The process involved the change from the use of hands in production to the use
of machines. The examples included the engineering of chemicals and iron productions, use of
steam power and the plant machine method. Due to the developments in the way of production in
the industries, employment especially the textile industry featured both male and female genders
improving the overall living standards of people. Sexual revolution can also be described as
sexual liberation because it was seen as freedom from the traditional codes of behavior to
interpersonal relationships and sexuality (Gill 103). As a result of this there was witnessed several
changes in the general perceptions and traditions held, especially on genderand social stereotypes,
which resulted to sexual liberation. This paper is going to look into industrial revolutionand find out
the extent to which it constituted to sexual revolution and the everyday social and family life for
both men, women and the children.
Industrialization took place earlier in the western countries than the other parts of the world.
Through the introduction of machines that made work easier in the industries, employment was no
longer a man s thing and women found an opportunity to work (Carlin 318). The revolution created
a shortage in labor and textile factories absorbed young single ladies from the rural areas. The

Bulimia and Depression Essay
Bulimia and Depression
The prevalence of eating disorders among American women has increased dramatically in the past
decade. In turn, the psychological community has expanded it s scope of research and study by
focusing more attention on eating disorders and concentrating on other extended issues related to
eating disorders. The desire to distinguish and understand a possible relationship between bulimia
nervosa and depression has become a major focus within the field. The purpose of this paper is to
introduce the reader to literature from two different journal articles on this relationship.
How Are Bulimia and Depression Possibly Related?:
Presently, there are two predominant hypotheses on the relationship between bulimia ... Show more

Cognitions manifested by bulimics include dysfunctional attributions regarding weight gain, guilt,

Schlesier, et al. (1987) state that depression:
...carries characteristic cognitive features of clinical import. Maladaptive thinking patterns related
to depressive symptomatology include negative automatic thoughts, dysfunctional attitudes, and
causal attributions.
Therefore, there are connections between these two disorders. There is a link in the relationship
between bulimia and depression. Understanding this link is essential for treatment and therapy.
Article I Bulimia and Depression: A Review of the Affective Hypothesis :
Lisa Hinz and Donald Williamson (1987) reflect on the evidence presented in past studies relating
bulimia and depression and discriminate between the idea that bulimia is an affective variant of
depression or a separate diagnostic entity often associated with depression. In their attempt to
understand the relationship, the authors point out the complications that arise in an evaluation of
studies that deal with depression and other illnesses due to the common associations made between
the two. Hinz and Williamson (1987) state that evaluation of the affective variant hypothesis is
difficult because it is well established that depression accompanies many chronic psychiatric and

The evolving exercise uses an environment that is changing by the introduction of questions that
need to be recognized and appropriate responds need to be articulated. The evolving exercise will
gauge the candidate s ability to see a situation or trend that is deteriorating and develop and plan to
turn the situation around. Depending on the candidate s responds the conditions will either improve
or further deteriorate.
In the interactive style assessment center the candidate must interact with designated role players
and must exchange, ideas, concerns or thoughts. The role players follow a scripted dialogue and

In this step a series of interviews and meeting, conducted by a trusted member of the leadership
team, will occur to obtain meaningful information and provide any necessary guidance the new
leader will need. To accomplish the gathering of needed and meaningful information a key group of
individuals are enlisted into the process and they include the new leaders, boss, or members of the
Board of Director, peers, and direct reports. Interviews with the boss, or bosses, will identify
landmines he must avoid, and what not to do , if the new leader wishes to be successful
(Burroughs, 2011). In a peer interview information is gathered from all peers the new leader will
come into contact with. The need for a leader to influence others outside his immediate authority

leader struggled with, probability of success will increase. The last section of interviews should

Personal Narrative-Freshman Ella
Freshman Ella. It s a scary thought, but for this story we have to go back to March of my
freshman year at an event called Chamber Festival, which is basically when you play in small
groups instead of large orchestras. In our school orchestra I was second chair viola which, me only
being a freshman, was a very big deal. At least it was for me. Many of my other friends in orchestra
already had their own instruments, and I felt like it was time to get one of my own. So for
months I begged my parents. I insisted that I wouldn t give up playing in a year or two, that I
really would stick with it long enough for the investment to make sense. Finally, in the beginning
of 2015, they agreed to get me a viola. Now was the hard part, agreeing... Show more content on

So first I went to Christian Eggerts. When I went there and asked for the viola they held for me,
I was sorely disappointed. The viola they had, had the exact same timbre as my school viola
which, though not bad, wasn t what I was looking for. I was disappointed, so I decided to look at
the other music shop, called The Baroque ViolinShop. When I walked into the white walled room,
the first thing I noticed was the three tables full of violins and violas. I walked around for a while,
before working up the courage to ask one of the workers if they had any 16 and ВЅ or 17 inch
violas. They had one, a 16 and ВЅ inch with a light finish, and slight striations on the wood. The
strings are worn, and my fingers have grey lines indented on the tips, after I ve played for hours.
The sides of the face are chipped from two years of wear and tear, for it goes everywhere I go. I
have a pretty indepth knowledge of what this viola looks like. Unlike most instrument owners, I
haven t given this viola a name yet. I don t know why, I just haven t found the right name yet. I
have put so many hours into this viola, you think I would be able to think of a name, since every

Third Round Of Speeches In The Book Of Job
In the book of Job, three different rounds of speeches are seen throughout. These speeches occur
when Job and his friends are discussing the life of Job and the actions of God. The third round
includes speeches from Eliphaz, Job, Bildad, and Zophar (Lucas, 2008, pg. 125). It is often
questioned whether or not the third round of speeches in the Bibleare in the original order. This is
question because the flow in which the dissussion occurs causes some confusion. The textbook
states that Bildad s speech is short and Job s reply contains some sections that might sound better
on the lips of his friends (Lucas, 2008, pg. 124). The four main proposed reconstructions of the
third round of speeches include: Dhorme, Stevenson, Gordis, and Habel (Lucas,

Hypothyroidism Research Paper
Hypothyroidism: The Effects of an Underactive Thyroid Gland Within the endocrine system, the
thyroid gland plays an important role on daily function and activity. The thyroid gland is a butterfly
shaped gland located in front of the neck, right below the larynx. The thyroid gland produces
thyroid hormones, primarily T3 (thyroxine) and T4 (triiodothyronine) (NIDDK, 2013). It is very
important that the body produces the appropriate amount of thyroidhormones because these
hormones affect nearly every organ in the body. More specifically, thyroid hormones regulate an
individual s metabolism such as heart rate, energy use, energy level, and protein synthesis (Family
Doctor, 2014). Hypothyroidismis a disorder of the thyroid gland. Hypothyroidism... Show more

Autoimmune diseases cause the immune system to attack the body s own cells, tissues, and organs
(Mayo Clinic Staff, 2015). Therefore, autoimmune diseases can cause the immune system to attack
thyroid glands. When this occurs, the attack causes inflammation and interference in thyroid
hormone production (NIDDK, 2013). Thyroid surgery that involves the removal of the thyroid
gland may cause hypothyroidism. Thyroid glands are surgically removed for people with cancer,
certain diseases, and hyperthyroidism (NIDDK, 2013). Radiation therapy, such as radioactive
iodine, gradually destroys the thyroid gland (NIDDK, 2013). With the absence of thyroid gland, this
leads to hypothyroidism. Congenital diseases, more specifically defective thyroid gland, can cause
hypothyroidism. Some infants are born with defective thyroid gland or no thyroid gland (Mayo
Clinic Staff, 2015). The pituitary gland produces TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). TSH instructs
the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones (Family Doctor, 2014). Pituitary disorders may
hinder and limit the production of TSH by the pituitary gland. The lack of production of TSH
directly affects the production of thyroid hormones. Therefore, pituitary disorders may lead to
hypothyroidism. Medications can interfere with thyroid hormone production. This

A Lesson Before Dying Literary Analysis
In past years, as well as, in the twenty first century, African Americans are being oppressed and
judged based on the color of their skin. In, A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines, this is
the primary conflict that plagues Jefferson s as well as Grant s everyday life. By pleading guilty
to a murder that he did not commit, Jefferson has to choose to die just as he is, a hog in the
white s eyes, or die a man. On the other hand, Grant, who is his teacher, is faced with being
looked down upon by his community all because of his race and status. He is graced with the
challenge of turning Jefferson into a man before his execution date. It is only a matter of time
before they both realize that they cannot change the past and they have... Show more content on

What do you want me to do? What can I do? You the teacher... Yes, I m the teacher, I said. And I
teach what the white folks around here tell me to teach reading, writing, and rithmetic. They
never told me how to keep a black boy out of a liquor store (Gaines 13). Seen from this line, Grant
does not want to help Jefferson, he thinks that Jefferson is not his problem and that it s not his fault
that Jefferson is going to be executed. This accurately depicts Grant s selfishness, while in the end
only helping him to please his aunt and Jefferson s godmother. This is a turning point in Grant s
development as a character. This marks the point where he learns to accept and no longer wants to
fear. And when he finally decides to take a chance, and not be afraid of the outcome. Grant has a
swift change in thinking as the novel progresses. Seeing things differently and looking deeper into
the little things in his life. They sentence you to death because you were at the wrong place at the
wrong time, with no proof that you had anything at all to do with the crime other than being there
when it happened (Gaines 158). Based on this line, there is an obvious change in Grants
perception. He is understanding that the sooner he realizes what has been laid out to him, the better
off he will be. That there is no point in holding on to the past because there is ultimately nothing he
can do to change what has been done. As the novel

Essay on Creon as the Tragic Hero in Sophocles Antigone
Creon as the Tragic Hero in Antigone
This essay will compare two of the characters in Antigone , Antigone and Creon, in an effort to
determine the identity of the tragic hero in this tale.
To identify the tragic hero in Sophocles renowned play Antigone , we should first consider both
the elements present in Greek tragedies and what characteristics define a tragic hero. Aristotle s
definition of tragedy is: Tragedy is a story taking the hero from happiness to misery because of a
fatal flaw or mistake on his part. To be a true tragic herohe must also elicit a strong emotional
response of pity and fear from the audience. This is known as catharsis or purging of emotion. In
most cases the tragic hero begins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This illustrates that although she begins the play in misery she continues to suffer throughout the
play.
Antigone has a possible flaw in that she is too stubborn and persistent to obey Creon s order; I
know my duty, where true duty lies (Antigone, 128). Her punishment then encourages feelings of
pity from the audience because her deed was honorable and respectful towards her brother
Polynices. The chorus supports this view by bidding her a respectful farewell when she is taken
away, But glory and praise go with you lady (Antigone, 148). Antigone is also very proud, and this
may have contributed to her death. Even when she is caught she remains strong and defends
herself by claiming that the chorus thinks that her act was honorable, All these would say that what
I did was honorable (Antigone, 139). This causes Creon to remain angry with Antigone, you are
wrong, none of my subjects think as you do (Antigone, 140). If she had been more patient and less
defensive, Creon may not have been as harsh in the punishment he set for her.
Creon, who received the throne after the banishment of Oedipus, begins Antigone with high status
as the king of Thebes. He is fortunate to be honored as Thebes appointed king during her triumph
over the army of Polynices, Creon, son of Menoeceus, Whom the gods have appointed for us in our
recent change of fortune (Antigone, 130).

Pros And Cons Of Gun Control
Gun Control will NOT reduce crime
The right to bear arms is guaranteed in the constitution by the Second Amendment. Liberals are
looking to amend the constitution any way they can. They want to ban handguns or at least restrict
sales. Studies have shown that gun control cannot stop people from committing the crime.
While the Founding Fathers of this country were developing the system of government, as set forth
in the Constitution, many feared that a standing army controlled by a strong central government
would leave them helpless. The federal Constitution contained no provisions to prohibit a standing
army or allow states to create their own militias. The Constitution was signed by thirty nine men

Firearms are the most deadly instruments of attack. State constitutions of forty three states
guarantee citizens the right to use weapons in self defense. Most states with this law believe that
every citizen has the right to bear arms in defense of himself or the state. A study by the National
Safety Council shows that accidental death by firearms is near the bottom of the scale among
causes of accidental death. Accidental deaths involving firearms has decreased from three thousand
in 1967 to eighteen hundred in 1986, and is still decreasing (Gottlieb 16).
Gun control would not really reduce the rate of violent crime. Firearms kill Sixty percent of all
murder victims in the United States. Firearms injure another seventy thousand per year. Medicare
paid out 14 billion dollars last year for injuries involving firearms (Lindermann 1). Professor
Donald B. Kates said that a study conducted by the University of Wisconsin said, Gun control laws
have no individual or collective effect in reducing the rate of violent crime. The study considered
economic, demographic, and racial variables. Congressman Bill Goodling says that the willful
criminal is the real cause of most violent crime, not the gun (Gottlieb 18).
If a handgun ban were issued, there would have to be citizens that would comply with such a law.
In robberies and assaults, victims are far more likely to die when the perpetrator is armed with a
gun than when he or she has

INTRODUCTION
Swarm robotics is the new approach to the coordination of multi robot systems that consists of
many relatively smaller robots. The inspiration of this is the social behaviour of many animals and
insects like ants, geese etc. the terms Swarm Intelligence refers to the collective behaviour that is
the outcome of the work of the smaller individuals, each acting autonomously. Swarm intelligence
is a property of systems of non intelligent exhibiting a collectively intelligent behaviour.
Since the 1980 s, swarm robotics has become a major area of research. As new solution approaches
are being developed and validated, it is often possible to realize the advantages of swarm robotic
systems.

Assigning tasks to the member robots of the swarm to do the task productively and efficiently and

My Personal Philosophy Of The Church Of God
Since I have become at Vanderbilt Divinity School, some of the most frequently asked questions
that I receive are, what are you going to do with that? Are you going to become a preacher? I

For years, I aligned myself solely with this eschatology that proclaimed that if we just believed
in Jesus resurrection and were baptized we would earn a golden ticket into the pearly gates. I was
taught to distance myself from sinners, those who did not believe the way that I did; despising
them for either their disbelief or other belief system. When I was GOGIC, I could not hang with
Baptist Christians, because they were heathens and their theology did not include the power of the
Holy Ghost. When I went to the Baptist church, I was told not to associate myself with COGIC
Christians because they relied to heavily on the Holy Spirit and their church doctrine, which made
them holier than though. They would say sanctimonious things like holiness is still right! and were
quick to inform people who did not believe the same doctrine as them, that they were going to hell
because they did not really know Jesus.
But when I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I
became a man, I put away childish things 1 Corinthians 13:11. As an adult I became very
frustrated with this hand me down theology. I felt it necessary to know God for myself. By the
age of 16 I had witnessed thousands of impoverished people attend church religiously every week,
and believe that God will allow them into heaven if they strongly believed in Jesus Christ. Not to

interests? Many argue that space exploration is vital to our society and one day the human race in
its entirety will have no option but to leave Earth in search of a new planet. Others insist the space
programs in America have created some of the world s most useful inventions, ranging from CT
scanners to digital cameras to firefighting equipment; these inventions supposedly prove space
explorations worth. While these statements may have some truth to them, there are multiple
setbacks that make space exploration difficult for American space programs to accomplish, and, in
the end, not worth it at least for now. One of the most significant issues is the cost. According to
Washington Post, funding for space exploration in America is at an all time low of one half percent,
reduced from four percent of America s government spending. With this low percentage of
government investment, the costs that are required to send... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In reality, the impact of space exploration on humans is as much a mystery as what could be
discovered. Until scientists conduct more research, it s not safe enough for humans to travel further
into the cosmos. For now, there are too many variables involved that make space exploration not
worth the time, effort, and money. Once scientists have obtained enough information regarding
cosmic exploration, it s certain that the American people will be forever affected. As Ron Garan

Why Brazil
Why is Brazil, Brazil?
Why is Brazil, Brazil? the first thing that comes to mind is beautiful sun tanned blond women,
white sand beaches, carnival, endless sex, partying through the night, and the samba. Well, Brazil is
a lot more than the aforementioned. To know what Brazil is, you must start at the very beginning
with a little Brazil history 101. Brazil or the Portuguese pronunciation Brasil is the largest country
in today s South America and the fifth largest in the world. Brazil is known and famous for its
soccer teams and the annual Carnival in Rio de Janiero, Salvador, Recife, and Olinda. Brazil is a
vast country made up of vast diversities of people from the energy of Pernambuco along with Bahia,
the beauty and intrigue of the Amazon rainforest to its world class landmarks. There is plenty to do
and see in Brazil
Brazil was originally inhabited solely by indigenous people, mainly of the Tupi and Guarani ethnic
groups. With the arrival and settlement of the Portuguese; and the extraction and export of the
valuable wood from the pau brasil tree, from which the country draws its name. Brazil was first

Social And Cultural Events In The 20th And 21st Century
Education has been affected greatly by social and cultural events of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Because education follows the moves of society, the need for new skills in life and in the
workplace change and students can be career and college ready. This, however, has not always
been the case. The first of two main cultural and social events focused on are the events that led up
to the Brown vs. the Board of EducationSupreme Court case, which resulted in the desegregation of
schools. The second are the effects that the Great Recession had on the education system. In the
1940s the Civil Rights Movement began gaining strength and the country began moving slowly to
desegregation. In 1947, in the face of much opposition, Jackie Robinson became the first African
Americanbaseball player. When he traveled to the south he was denied access into hotels,
restaurants, and other venues because of this race. Because Robinson was in the army the armed
forces became desegregated in 1948 and eventually led to the elimination of segregated schools
(Schwartz, 2003). During this era African American students were in separate but equal schools
although many black schools suffered from poor facilities and a lack of funding and other
amenities that were provided at white schools. Black students were often bussed great distances to
attend school. In 1952, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
(NAACP) lawyers represented the case Brown vs. the Board of education. This case dealt with
the right of a black child to attend an all white school close to her home instead of being bussed
across town to the all black school. Initially, the ruling was in favor of the Board of Education, but
the adverse effects of separate but equal schooling on the black community were clearly shown
(Schwartz, 2003). African Americans were also held back by not having the right to vote. A
literacy exam was required to be passed in order to vote. Because of their schooling restrictions,
many African Americans were illiterate, which denied them of the right to vote. A workshop for the
United Nations drew several community members and teachers from the south (Horton, Freire,
1990). One member who attended

Summary Of The Rooftop Of The Creek
Mary split with Lovienthal and Steaks as they left the rooftop in search of Laura and Pamela.
She wanted to inform them of the zombies breaching the creek, and to help gather the children
because it looked imperative that they would be leaving the school immediately. Steaks and
Lovienthal set off for the bus garage to get Albert. They both hoped that he, Johnny, and the
McAllisters had made it farther along in their fortification of a couple of buses than what the
time had allotted them to work. When Mary found Laura she was in the teachers lounge with
Sarah and Pamela playing a board game. Mary quickly and frantically told them what had
happened. A wave of panic than set over Laura leaving her speechless and visibly shaking.
Pamela stepped up and told her to take Sarah and go with Mary to the gymnasium to retrieve her
sons and the other children. After that they should meet back at the cafeteria where she would
be with James packing up supplies. Laura still stood frozen and Pamela had to snap at her
yelling, Go now! in order to get her to break out of her coma like state. Laura then grabbed her
daughter by her arm, and together with Mary they ran for the gym. As soon as Pamela left the
teachers lounge she ran into Blake and Mitch. They had seen the McAllisters leave the school and
then return in Albert s golf cart with a subsequent mass of the living deadgiving chase to them.
Pamela told them she was on her way to gather James and

Tmj Dentist Surgery Essay
About five to 12 percent of Americans have a painful condition called TMJ. Known medically as
temporomandibular joint and muscle disorders, TMJ refers to a set of uncomfortable disorders
affecting the jaw joint, as well as those muscles controlling jaw movements.
Although some TMJ issues are the result of injuries, most people suffer from this condition
without knowledge of a clear reason. In most cases, TMJ isn t a sign of severe medical problem.
Fortunately, the pain doesn t last long and subsides with minimal or even no treatment. In fact, most
patients don t need surgery, even if their discomfort persists. If you think you may have this
problem, here are some common symptoms and how a TMJ dentist can help you find relief.

These self care methods include applying ice packs, eating soft foods and other treatments.
Pain management is another important part of treating TMJ problems. Both over the counter
painkillers and prescription drugs, used only for a short time period, can help with discomfort.
Dentists can demonstrate relaxation techniques for controlling stress, which can cause TMJ pain.
What s more, they can show you how to practice biofeedback techniques to help you relax.
Sometimes TMJ pain is due to teeth that aren t aligned properly. When this is the case, dentists can
correct the problem by fixing poorly aligned teeth.
In other situations, TMJ is due to teeth grinding. This can be addressed by a using a mouth guard.
Considerations and Warnings
A TMJ dentist will stay away from any dental treatments that could permanently alter your jaw or
bite, such as bridgework or crown treatments.
Females are at least twice or more as likely to have TMJ disorders as males

Catherine Fordham Consomme Essay
A woman fights off an attacker while walking alone at night in Catherine Fordham s ConsommeМЃ.
(Just quickly, I want to say that this film does deal with sensitive material relating to sexual
harassment and sexual assault, and I don t want this film to have a negative impact on anyone
reading this review.)
ConsommeМЃ begins with a young woman leaving an apartment building late at night after a
fight with someone. She begins walking briskly through the streets of Brooklyn. The viewer then
sees this same woman slowly waking up in a brightly lit bedroom, which is what reveals that this
short film will be told through a series of flashbacks.
During the woman s flashbacks to her walk the night before, the audience hears lots of loud city
noises ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Either she doesn t sense his presence or she s trying to ignore it because she s sure she s being
paranoid. However, when the man grabs her, her fear and the audience s fear is realized. He drags
her into an alley and begins attacking her.
In contrast to the dark, foreboding, dangerous night flashbacks, the current shots of the woman
waking up are all well lit, bright with sunshine, and full of light colors. They are quiet and
peaceful. However, the woman s face and body are beaten up pretty badly. She has cuts and
bruises on her legs and face, reminding the viewer of the brutal attack she endured the night
before. At this point in the film, the viewer still doesn t know exactly how the attack will end will
the man just beat her up? Will he rape her? Will she have to go to the hospital?
The final flashback moment I will discuss, so as not to give away the ending, is the moment this
woman realizes she is going to be sexually assaulted. Prior to this, the man had been just beating
her up in the alley. He was kicking her and throwing her around. However, he pins her up against
a vehicle in the alley and the woman hears him begin to undo his belt buckle. When she realizes
what is about to happen, she goes into pure survival and fight mode. That s where I ll leave off

The technological requirements for achieving AI at the level of the human mind may be on the
near horizon; they may also have already been surpassed. But AI is certainly more than a novelty
research in AI is not just for the sake of creating human like automatons. There are many potential
applications of AI that could revolutionize how human beings interact with computers. So much
of how people live their lives has changed since the commercialization of the computer. Every
man, woman, and child seems to have a smart phone these days, and there isn t a job out there
that doesn t require some proficiency in computer use. Imagine then, the impact of AI on society
and the economic landscape. Not only would computers process data extremely fast, but they
would possess the same intelligence as human beings. One application in particular is poised to
have an enormous effect on one of the biggest industries in the United States and abroad: health
care. The same technology that Watson used to win Jeopardy can be used to process all kinds of
unstructured information. Medical diagnostics are based on research, records, and personal
experience. AI could be used to scan through this information with incredible speed and accuracy,
resulting in well founded diagnoses without ever entering the doctor s office. This is just one of
the ways that AI may change how things are done in the modern world. But how close are we?

Traditional Native American Culture
Long before the white man discovered America, people have already been living here. These
people are known as the Native Americans. As the settlers came to the native land, they brought

characteristics valued by the group, such as generosity, wisdom, fortitude, and spiritual power

Paul Dunbar Sympathy Essay
Paul Dunbar, an African American poet who was famous during the Harlem Renaissance, wrote
a poem titled, Sympathy in 1899. The poem expressed his relations to a caged bird and how he
understands how the caged bird feels. Dunbar s use of imagery and repetition helps to clearly
depict the struggle to obtain freedom and the feeling of imprisonment. Dunbar s usage of
imagery is greatly expressed throughout the poem, with the uses of your senses. When the river
flows like a stream of glass; When the first bird sings and the first bud opes... , Dunbar uses the
senses of sight and hearing to help the reader picture the scenery to better understand that the
bird is trapped in a cage witnessing the beautiful outside of flowers blossoming and can t be a
part of it. In addition, Dunbar later elaborates the birds struggle to be on the inside of the cage
by stating I know why the caged bird beats his wing Till its blood is red on the cruel bars And a

Interrogating Culture and Biology in the Understanding the theory of Person
Overview
Within the purview of the understanding of the theory of the person, relativism holds sway.
Several things are at play in forming an individual s response to external stimuli. An individual s
understanding of his culture often informs these responses. Whereas individual s understanding of
culture(s) is limited, that is the point where relativism comes in. where a knowledge stops is
where another start, hence opinions vary in relation to the individual experience of a subject
matter. The dynamics of a culture is dependent on its environment. These variables also have deep
rooted relations with biology (Sapolsky 2017: 3). Sapolsky infers that there is a ... Show more

the generalization made there cannot be overemphasized. An inherent inhibition would be a
product of an individual or group s experience. If not, how would we explain the making of a
serial killer? What informed Hitler s decision to annihilate the Jews?
This paper interrogates the various contradictions in Nordstrom s opinion, about the various levels
of violence and their interpretations. Culture influences interpretations of events and they are
relative to context and individuals or groups. It also interrogates Berkowitz (1978:707) tentative
summation of pain as being the source of aggression in man. I attempt to test their ideas using
Sapolsky s research in neuroscience and Eagleton s literary theory. Nordstrom questions the idea
that projects the intrinsic nature of aggression in man against the backdrop of theories in
psychoanalysis theories eschewed by Eagleton and Sapolsky. Also, it appreciates the philosophical
musing of Nordstrom while she offers a case of what ought to.... as against what is in war and
violence narratives.
The Irony in Nordstrom s reality
Nordstrom s description of war as cultural reality (Nordstrom 1998: 148) elucidates the thoughts of
this paper and reiterate the idea of cultural relativism. Hence, it casts a shadow on the notion of
political aggression or otherwise. Aggression at this point would be relative to an

correlational findings, in which variables were found to be significantly associated with each
other. Your task is to determine which of the three major causal models (i.e., interpretations)
could account for each finding. Indicate in the table below, by placing an X in the appropriate
space, which of these three models could provide a possible explanation. Place an X in the space
only if you judge the causal model to be possible reasonably plausible. If you decide that the third

Kasischke s Disappearance
Laura Kasischke s poem Bike ride with older boys examines the theme of power imbalance
between a young thirteen year old and older boys in a modern day society. Kasischke s poem
explores the vulnerability of young girls and the emotions of regret by presenting her poem in an
informal matter, in the past tense by reflecting on a memory of when she was thirteen, where she
had the opportunity to meet older boys at stop n go . The poem juxtaposes the flashback
Kasischke has in her kitchen by providing the audience with two scenarios in which could have
happened without revealing to much. In the first scenario she dispenses that it was the best
afternoon of [her] life , the boys were respectful and it was everything as she imagined it

My Experience Of Youtube Videos
I started off watching YouTube videos of different varieties. I first started with a longer video. I
thought that I would try to watch a comedy video to see if I could still catch the jokes that would
maybe need a voice inflection with it. It was a lot harder to laugh at the jokes because I couldn t
hear the tone of voice that they were using. I found that with all the comedy things I normally
would watch, I didn t laugh as much because I couldn t hear the tone of voice.
The next video was a beauty hack video. I don t normally watch these types of videos because
they are mostly makeup beauty hacks, and I don t wear makeup. But I wanted to see what it
would be like if someone who was Deaf wanted to learn beauty hacks. It was pretty hard to ... Show

Hulu s captions were pretty good though. I liked how Hulu used periods and dashes for each new
person talking. I found that YouTubedid not use periods, so it felt sometimes like a long run on
sentence. If there were multiple people talking on the YouTube videos it was hard to tell who
was talking in the captions. There would be no indicator of who was saying what. The last T.V.
show I decided to watch was something completely new. I decided to watch The Golden Girls. I
had never seen an episode before so I didn t know what the style of the T.V. show would be like,
and I didn t know the characters so I couldn t imagine their voice saying the words like I kind of
could with the other videos/T.V. shows. I noticed that when the show was about half way over I
couldn t wait for it to be over. I got really annoyed with having to constantly having to read
everything or I d be lost as to what was happening. With this show I had to read pretty fast
because there were so many characters and they would have line after line. It was a constant
looking at the captions and not at the picture. When I normally watch T.V. I don t use captions. I
find them annoying if the captions are on and the sound is also on. My eye will go down to the
captions and not what is happening. When it was only the captions it was better because the sound
was off. But I still got really annoyed having to read everything if I

  • 3. Possibility Of The American Dream The American Dream is a goal that many, if not all, Americans hope to achieve. The definition differs among those that dream of it, but the general idea is the same: to find some sort of success in life. The American Dream does not come easy to everyone; some believe that over time, the American Dream has become unachievable. The American Dream is still accessible; it just takes a lot of effort, confidence, and sacrifice to achieve. The American Dream is not an easy thing to achieve. There could be multiple things stopping you from achieving it. For some people, self reliance and sacrifice are what make it the American Dream possible. In the article, Is the American Dream Still Possible? by David Wallechinsky, the author believes that self reliance and sacrifice are needed to achieve the American Dream. Wallechinsky writes about a woman named Shelly Comer who has worked her whole life to give her kids a good life. She has an annual income of $70,377. Shelly says, But I have nothing saved for me... I m putting it all into the kids, so that they can succeed in school, (Wallechinsky, 11). Shelly is giving the money she would use for herself to her kids in order for her kids to have good lives. The need for a leader to influence others outside his immediate authority is paramount and if the new leader is aware of what he should avoid, or what areas the previous leader struggled with, probability of success will increase. The last section of interviews should involve all direct reports under the authority of the new leader. While many at this level of the organization are leery of any change in leadership and change is inherently disruptive to the work groups. • 7. Personal Narrative-Freshman Ella Freshman Ella. It s a scary thought, but for this story we have to go back to March of my freshman year at an event called Chamber Festival, which is basically when you play in small groups instead of large orchestras. In our school orchestra I was second chair viola which, me only being a freshman, was a very big deal. At least it was for me. Many of my other friends in orchestra already had their own instruments, and I felt like it was time to get one of my own. So for months I begged my parents. I insisted that I wouldn t give up playing in a year or two, that I really would stick with it long enough for the investment to make sense. Finally, in the beginning of 2015, they agreed to get me a viola. Now was the hard part, agreeing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So first I went to Christian Eggerts. The viola they had, had the exact same timbre as my school viola which, though not bad, wasn t what I was looking for. I was disappointed, so I decided to look at the other music shop, called The Baroque ViolinShop. When I walked into the white walled room, the first thing I noticed was the three tables full of violins and violas. I walked around for a while, before working up the courage to ask one of the workers if they had any 16 and ВЅ or 17 inch violas. They had one, a 16 and ВЅ inch with a light finish, and slight striations on the wood. The strings are worn, and my fingers have grey lines indented on the tips, after I ve played for hours. The sides of the face are chipped from two years of wear and tear, for it goes everywhere I go. I have a pretty indepth knowledge of what this viola looks like. Unlike most instrument owners, I haven t given this viola a name yet. I don t know why, I just haven t found the right name yet. These speeches occur when Job and his friends are discussing the life of Job and the actions of God. The third round includes speeches from Eliphaz, Job, Bildad, and Zophar (Lucas, 2008, pg. 125). It is often questioned whether or not the third round of speeches in the Bibleare in the original order. This is question because the flow in which the dissussion occurs causes some confusion. The textbook states that Bildad s speech is short and Job s reply contains some sections that might sound better on the lips of his friends (Lucas, 2008, pg. 124). Hypothyroidism Research Paper Hypothyroidism: The Effects of an Underactive Thyroid Gland Within the endocrine system, the thyroid gland plays an important role on daily function and activity. The thyroid gland is a butterfly shaped gland located in front of the neck, right below the larynx. The thyroid gland produces thyroid hormones, primarily T3 (thyroxine) and T4 (triiodothyronine) (NIDDK, 2013). It is very important that the body produces the appropriate amount of thyroidhormones because these hormones affect nearly every organ in the body. More specifically, thyroid hormones regulate an individual s metabolism such as heart rate, energy use, energy level, and protein synthesis (Family Doctor, 2014). Autoimmune diseases cause the immune system to attack the body s own cells, tissues, and organs (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2015). Therefore, autoimmune diseases can cause the immune system to attack thyroid glands. When this occurs, the attack causes inflammation and interference in thyroid hormone production (NIDDK, 2013). Thyroid surgery that involves the removal of the thyroid gland may cause hypothyroidism. Thyroid glands are surgically removed for people with cancer, certain diseases, and hyperthyroidism (NIDDK, 2013). Radiation therapy, such as radioactive iodine, gradually destroys the thyroid gland (NIDDK, 2013). With the absence of thyroid gland, this leads to hypothyroidism. Congenital diseases, more specifically defective thyroid gland, can cause hypothyroidism. Some infants are born with defective thyroid gland or no thyroid gland (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2015). The pituitary gland produces TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). TSH instructs the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones (Family Doctor, 2014). Pituitary disorders may hinder and limit the production of TSH by the pituitary gland. The lack of production of TSH directly affects the production of thyroid hormones. In, A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines, this is the primary conflict that plagues Jefferson s as well as Grant s everyday life. By pleading guilty to a murder that he did not commit, Jefferson has to choose to die just as he is, a hog in the white s eyes, or die a man. On the other hand, Grant, who is his teacher, is faced with being looked down upon by his community all because of his race and status. He is graced with the challenge of turning Jefferson into a man before his execution date. It is only a matter of time before they both realize that they cannot change the past and they have... And I teach what the white folks around here tell me to teach reading, writing, and rithmetic. They never told me how to keep a black boy out of a liquor store (Gaines 13). Seen from this line, Grant does not want to help Jefferson, he thinks that Jefferson is not his problem and that it s not his fault that Jefferson is going to be executed. This accurately depicts Grant s selfishness, while in the end only helping him to please his aunt and Jefferson s godmother. This is a turning point in Grant s development as a character. This marks the point where he learns to accept and no longer wants to fear. And when he finally decides to take a chance, and not be afraid of the outcome. Grant has a swift change in thinking as the novel progresses. Seeing things differently and looking deeper into the little things in his life. Based on this line, there is an obvious change in Grants perception. He is understanding that the sooner he realizes what has been laid out to him, the better off he will be. That there is no point in holding on to the past because there is ultimately nothing he can do to change what has been done. As the novel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Essay on Creon as the Tragic Hero in Sophocles Antigone Creon as the Tragic Hero in Antigone This essay will compare two of the characters in Antigone , Antigone and Creon, in an effort to determine the identity of the tragic hero in this tale. To identify the tragic hero in Sophocles renowned play Antigone , we should first consider both the elements present in Greek tragedies and what characteristics define a tragic hero. Aristotle s definition of tragedy is: Tragedy is a story taking the hero from happiness to misery because of a fatal flaw or mistake on his part. To be a true tragic herohe must also elicit a strong emotional response of pity and fear from the audience. This is known as catharsis or purging of emotion. In most cases the tragic hero begins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This illustrates that although she begins the play in misery she continues to suffer throughout the play. Antigone has a possible flaw in that she is too stubborn and persistent to obey Creon s order; I know my duty, where true duty lies (Antigone, 128). Her punishment then encourages feelings of pity from the audience because her deed was honorable and respectful towards her brother Polynices. The chorus supports this view by bidding her a respectful farewell when she is taken away, But glory and praise go with you lady (Antigone, 148). Antigone is also very proud, and this may have contributed to her death. Even when she is caught she remains strong and defends herself by claiming that the chorus thinks that her act was honorable, All these would say that what I did was honorable (Antigone, 139). This causes Creon to remain angry with Antigone, you are wrong, none of my subjects think as you do (Antigone, 140). If she had been more patient and less defensive, Creon may not have been as harsh in the punishment he set for her. Creon, who received the throne after the banishment of Oedipus, begins Antigone with high status as the king of Thebes. He is fortunate to be honored as Thebes appointed king during her triumph over the army of Polynices, Creon, son of Menoeceus, Whom the gods have appointed for us in our recent change of fortune (Antigone, 130). Because education follows the moves of society, the need for new skills in life and in the workplace change and students can be career and college ready. This, however, has not always been the case. The first of two main cultural and social events focused on are the events that led up to the Brown vs. the Board of EducationSupreme Court case, which resulted in the desegregation of schools. The second are the effects that the Great Recession had on the education system. In the 1940s the Civil Rights Movement began gaining strength and the country began moving slowly to desegregation. In 1947, in the face of much opposition, Jackie Robinson became the first African Americanbaseball player. When he traveled to the south he was denied access into hotels, restaurants, and other venues because of this race. Because Robinson was in the army the armed forces became desegregated in 1948 and eventually led to the elimination of segregated schools (Schwartz, 2003). During this era African American students were in separate but equal schools although many black schools suffered from poor facilities and a lack of funding and other amenities that were provided at white schools. Black students were often bussed great distances to attend school. In 1952, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) lawyers represented the case Brown vs. the Board of education. This case dealt with the right of a black child to attend an all white school close to her home instead of being bussed across town to the all black school. Initially, the ruling was in favor of the Board of Education, but the adverse effects of separate but equal schooling on the black community were clearly shown (Schwartz, 2003). African Americans were also held back by not having the right to vote. A literacy exam was required to be passed in order to vote. ConsommeМЃ begins with a young woman leaving an apartment building late at night after a fight with someone. She begins walking briskly through the streets of Brooklyn. Either she doesn t sense his presence or she s trying to ignore it because she s sure she s being paranoid. However, when the man grabs her, her fear and the audience s fear is realized. He drags her into an alley and begins attacking her. In contrast to the dark, foreboding, dangerous night flashbacks, the current shots of the woman waking up are all well lit, bright with sunshine, and full of light colors. They are quiet and peaceful. However, the woman s face and body are beaten up pretty badly. She has cuts and bruises on her legs and face, reminding the viewer of the brutal attack she endured the night before. At this point in the film, the viewer still doesn t know exactly how the attack will end will the man just beat her up? Will he rape her? Will she have to go to the hospital? The final flashback moment I will discuss, so as not to give away the ending, is the moment this woman realizes she is going to be sexually assaulted. Prior to this, the man had been just beating her up in the alley. He was kicking her and throwing her around.
