July of 1794. As a result of the Terror, over 14,000 people were killed by the use guillotines, firing

Lyon, and Vendee (Document 1). In Paris, most of those executed were nobles and upper middle class
citizens, while throughout the rest of France, the majority of those executed were peasants and

Doing School Summary
Denise Pope Clark, author of Doing School, went to Faircrest High School in order to study the
behaviors and habits students, teachers, and parents use to ensure success in the school system. I am
going to analyze each claim she made and determine if they are accurate or not based on my own
experiences. Pope begins by explaining the habits used to get ahead by students and categorizes them
under an umbrella she calls Doing School . The habits she identifies are establishing allies and
treaties, multi tasking, cheating, and being what she calls a squeaky wheel . See the writing task above

In the poem Lady Lazarus, there are many images that invoke the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from
the dead. The encounters that Lady Lazarus had with death both accidental and intentional resonates a
dark and grim tone throughout the poem. Looking at the lines four and five, she makes a reference to
the lampshades that were made out of the skin of slaughtered Jews by the Nazis. With this reference
she wants readers to make that connection between her and the Holocaust victims. As we go down to
lines ten through fifteen, she tells the readers to peel off the napkin referring to the white sheet used to
cover corpses to view her face. She also describes herself having eye pits instead of eyes and stinking
sour breath . With those references, I interpret that as although technically she is alive, her body is

lives of a cat through a simile but in a much grimmer version by saying she has nine times to die.
When Lady Lazarus refers to annihilating a trash in lines twenty three to twenty four, my
interpretation of that statement is that she is speaking about death. Once a decade she comes close to

gets the doll he sees Clifton is performing with them after he left the brotherhood he goes to crush the
