Synthesis Essay on Indocumented Immigrants in the US
In my ENC 1101 class, we were required to go through several of processes to map out the
formula of writing our final assignment in our class: a synthesis essay. The most imperative part
of our assignment was to choose a synthesis essay question on a list that our professor gave us.
The second most vital ingredient in the formula was to choose two texts from our Allyn Bacon
Guide to Writing book which would be the backbone of our synthesis essay that we would have to
expand on and create our own ideas from. The question that I choose to further my vague
knowledge on immigrationwas: What should the United States do to make progress in solving the
problem of undocumented immigration? The texts and ideas that I write about to answer my... Show

Seeing the many sides of the immigration conflict, I believe the Congress should allow
undocumented immigrants to live in America, but they must show that they are an asset to
America. Despite the fact that Williams writes for a call to action for the resolution of
immigration in the United States, his article is a blog article written for his blog followers.
Williams article is not intended for scholarly audiences, while Hanson s article is. Hanson s
article is published on the History News Network, which requires great thought and reviewing,
whereas Williams is just required to write an article and post on the Huffington Post in his
profile, without an editor to review the contents of the article. Williams is free to voice his
opinion in whichever language he desires due to it being a blog article, and Hanson is not.
However, due to this being so, Hanson s article proves to more credible that Williams article,
especially due to the fact that Hanson is a military historian and political essayist. But, Williams
article provides pathos in his article by including a personal anecdote in the introduction of it. The
anecdote transcends the article to his purpose of explaining the political part of the immigration
issue, making his standpoint and call to action clear. But then again, Hanson writes with logos,
making his readers look

How Natural Law Enforces Human Rights
Natural Law enforces human rights. When we look at abortions laws we see between a legal
system based on the legal theory of natural law the law that comes from God s nature and
inherent right and wrong as He defines it furthermore a legal system based on legal positivism
(law is derived from whatever man says is law no inherent right and wrong). Prior to the turn of
the 20th century, legal philosophy from whence laws were derived in the Western world was
based upon a natural law theory. A belief that there was an inherent right and wrong based on God
s principles. In the late 1800 s early 1900 s the legal philosophy began to shift and is now
predominantly based upon legal positivismwhich says that law is only right or wrong because man
has made it so. Natural law is based on the character of God; thus, like Him, it does not change as
man changes.
The importance of how natural law enforces human rights
Natural Law shapes conduct, forces specific conduct, and is designed by God to influence moral
behavior. Natural law imposes morality which enforces the protection of human rights. Natural
law gives a person the free will to do whatever they please as long as that free will does not harm
others or violates the Natural laws created by God. Nonetheless, God is the source of Natural Law
with an expression of moral order through the word of God. Society and government were not
central conceptions in the life of a people governed by God through his prophets,

Principles Of Maria Montessori In Early Childhood Education
Part B
Maria Montessori and Rudolf Steiner are both known as an educator in early childhood education.
Their theories, principles, and beliefs share many similarities. But at the same time, show many
differences. Inspired by the work of Itard and Seguin, two almost forgotten French doctors, Maria
Montessori took the idea of scientific approach to develop her theories, principles and beliefs in
early childhood education, which through observation and experimentation. All the learning
activities and teaching materials are purposeful and aimed to stimulate senses, mind, and provide
self esteem and achievement. There are twelve principles in her approaches of teaching. Firstly,
natural spirituality. Montessori saw that children were inherently ... Show more content on

Therefore, there are no grades or tests. Children are never in competition with each other. So, the
process is the most important thing than the results. Next is prepared environment. Montessori
classroom environment is prepared in every way for optimal development: physically, cognitively,
socially, and emotionally. Lastly, the principle and philosophy of Maria Montessori in early
childhood education is absorbent mind. From the age 0 6 years old is what Montessori called the
all around formative period of the absorbent mind. At 0 3 years old, children are unconsciously
absorbing what is around him and is more reactive than purposeful in his actions. Meanwhile at 3 6
years old, children begin to explore the outer environment through more purposeful movement and
exercise. Rudolf Steiner develops early childhood education based on the age development of a
child. Steiner s theory centered on all aspects of growth and development including spirituality. His
philosophy sprang from the idea that there are three seven year cycles of development. Steiner
believe that education needs to work with the unfolding abilities and changing needs of the child at

NFL Protests
2017 is a rough year for the United States of America. In the center of racial divide, President
Donald Trump is trying to keep the country content. Whether it s protests all over the country
ranging from racial discrimination, or players of the National Football League (NFL), nobody can
just throw their issues aside and appreciate that they are living in the greatest country in the world
and there are countries around the globe that live worse than us. Every country will have issues
between the citizens within the country, but every person can do their part to help alleviate those
problems. We must unite together to end the protests against the flag and the President as well
ending discrimination between races. Ever since 2016, professional athletes have protested police
brutality and racial inequality by taking a knee during the Star Spangled Banner. Colin Kaepernick,

He stated that players who kneel for the National Anthem should immediately fired. This sparked
an uproar from most of the players in the NFL as well as owners of teams. Two days after the
statement, NFL teams took the field as they do any other Sunday during the year. This week was
different though. A group of players from every took a knee during the National Anthem. Over 200
players throughout the NFL decided to rally with each other and protest the President s remarks.
This needs to stop. Sure, you have the right to free speech and the right to protest but standing for
the National Anthem is an unwritten rule of America. Nowhere does it say you are required to
stand for it but it is a sign of respect to the members of the Armed Forces that fought for and even
died for your rights and freedoms, one being that you can kneel for the Star Spangled Banner. Odds
are that most of the athletes that are kneeling have currently, or have had, a family member in the

Tyrannosaurus Rex Fossils
In 2005, Palaeontologist Mary Schweitzer and her team made the discovery of finding original
soft tissue, including blood vessels, in a Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil in Montana. Many of
Schweitzer s fellow scientists insisted that she had been mistaken because of previous theories of
how fossils were preserved. The fossilwas buried in a permeable sandstone, where groundwater
could get in. Since organic material is quickly broken down in water, the soft tissue should have
decayed quickly under the conditions. When an animal dies, the soft tissues (skin) decays and
disappears over time, while hard tissues (bone) may gradually obtain minerals from the
environment and become fossils. Evolutionists scrambled to propose a reason on how the soft
tissue could have been completely preserved in pristine condition (Fields, H. 2006) (Morris, D.
2005). The extensive study of bones from New Zealand s extinct giant Moa bird calculated that the
lifespan of DNA should be measured in thousands, not millions of years. Therefore the unfossilised

The skin showed evidence of stripes and perhaps soft tissue. Apparently scientists stated that it
died on the banks of Hell s Creek, where its body was rapidly buried under accumulating
sediment and should have been wiped out by the decay process. However, the mineralization had
been so rapid that it is trapped and preserved as the waterlogged soil buried it in before the body
could decay much, thus ensuring preservation. Although fossils containing organic compounds or
mummified soft tissues have been discovered before, the presence of both is extremely rare
(National Geographic News, 2017) (Charles, Q. 2009). The fossilised soft tissues resemble those
seen in modern birds and crocodilians supporting the hypothesis that modern birds and crocodiles

Martin Luther King Influence
Martin Luther King Influence and Power
In the great country of America; America is who it is today because of the men and woman who
were great leaders that were able to influence people. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of those great
leaders that has changed America for the better because he had a dream. He was a black baptist
minister who was a spokesperson against segregation and led peaceful protests. In the 2014 movie
Selma, the film shows how Mr. King led the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches and
the events leading up to it. Mr. King was a remarkable leader because he could motivate people to
join him in the protest against segregation and influence America to change.

Mr. King spoke at the church in Selma to inspire the people to not stand back and not do
anything anymore. In his speeches he used inspirational appeal, which is when a leader spur
emotions in the follower s sense of justice or loyalty to the organization. In Mr. Kings first speech
in Selma he brings up how the 4 girls were unjustly murdered in their own church and that only
2% of the black population in Selma had the right to vote. He said, those that have gone on before
us say no more, that means protest, that means march, that means disturb the peace, that means jail
and that is hard . By the end of his speech the congregation was on their feet applauding and
chanting give us the vote. Because Mr. King used inspirational appeal and brought up the injustice
that was happening the people were willing to protest and march. If Mr. King started off with that
they were going to march and protect for first the people wouldn t have reacted the same way.
Mr. King was very well liked and respected by the black community because he was protesting
against segregation. Because he was so well known everywhere Mr. King went and he showed
referent power because the people wanted to meet him and shake his hand. Referent power is
when followers want to be like or closely associated with the leader. The followers want to
develop a personal relationship with the leader. Everyone in the black community looked up to

The Garden Of Forking Paths Theme
The infinite is a concept that is difficult for man to comprehend, yet in Jorge Luis Borges short
story The Garden of Forking Paths he does such a fantastic job of describing this idea of infinity
and its effect on mankind through his explanation of a labyrinth. This short story also can be used
as somewhat of a lens while reading Fun Home by Alison Bechdel. Borges story begins with frame
narrativebut both stories are, for the most part, told from a first person point of view. This aspect
of point of view is very helpful in supporting the idea of infinite possibilities and infinite
universes. By writing their stories from a first person point of view Bechdel and Borges give their
readers a glimpse into the idea that each action, however little that action or decision may be,
always has a reaction that can alter the outcome of a persons life drastically. Each action, can have
different outcomes that essentially leads to infinite outcomes in other universes. A majority of
Borges story is told from a first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Borges The Garden of Forking Paths he shows that perhaps there are many sides to a story
and a person should not just choose one and trust it entirely. Alison Bechdel promotes a similar
idea in Fun Home, and shows that each action, no matter how small, can have a large effect on a
person s life. It is impossible to explain an exact outcome because there are numerous reasons why
a certain result occurred. While both of these stories explore completely different topics, they
relate to each other in underlying theme. Writing these two pieces in a first person point of view
makes each character seem somewhat untrustworthy, and this is why the idea of infinite
possibilities is so relevant. It is such a difficult concept to grasp and completely understand,
however the infinite plays a much bigger role in a person s life than they can even

Positivism Advantages
Positivism developed a particular scientific method and their method uses rationale thinking
(deduction and induction thinking), to try and establish the truth (Usher, 1996). Positivism
assumes that knowledge is gained from observation of the world out there, because it is absolute
and unchanging (Donald, Lazarus Lolwana, 2010, p. 79), for example 2 X 2 = 4 this sum will
never change. In the following essay I will discuss why positivism is attractive, who would benefit
from positivism, why positivists call human beings things , and what the educational implications
are.
Positivism is commonly associated with Auguste Comte and shared the view that the only authentic

of its verification, a statement is meaningful if and only if it is in principle verifiable

if it could be verified and logical positivists said verification had to be in terms of simple, direct and
indubitable descriptions of sense experience (Phillips, 2000, p.

Overcoming Esteem And Self-Confidence
Overcoming fear is one of the greatest challenges that you will face as you learn how to improve
your self esteem and self confidence.
Imagine that you lived in the 17th century when there were no airplanes and parachutes. Imagine
that you lived happily with your family at the top of the mountain until you ran out of food and
water. You can see all the water and the food that you need to help your family survive from the
top of the mountain. However, to reach the water and food you need to overcome your fear and
jump from the mountain top to the ground. You know that when you jump you will dive into the
river beneath the mountain and not suffer physical injury. You also know that it will change
your life to jump because you will be able to gather all the food and water that your family needs,
but you need to overcome the fear and doubt that is holding you back. You also need to overcome
questions triggered by fear on your mind and make you anxious, what if I hit the rock , What if I
find no way to climb back up , What if...
Our lives are not too different from this story. We sometimes face difficulties and challenges
such as being unhappy at work, being unhappy with our bodies because we picked up weight,
toxic relationships and criticism. This results in us being unfulfilled. From this we also
experience a low self esteem and a lack of confidence : sometimes we know that if we could just
take a leap of faith and jump to change our lives our lives could improve, but we

Country As A Developing Country
Honestly, one would think that in todays modern world every country should be developed.
However, few realize that there are still many developing countries. Mostly due to ignorance, and
the majority doesn t pay attention to the needs of developing countries. For instance, the only time
a person may think of a developing countryis when the see the commercials on television, and
believes that this must be the only issues facing developing countries. Normally, people visualize
those commercials asking for money to feed, or asking for help of some type of medical
expenses. Take the United States as an example, and often this country would release funds to
foreign aid before their own citizens. Which could easily cause tension amongst the government
and the American people. According to, SAE there are about 137 developing countries, and
countries that earns on average 11,905 or less are a developing country. There are many different
choices when comes to picking a developing country. However, the country of Sierra Leone will
be the country up for discussion. Sierra Leone is one example of what the World Bankconsiders to
be a developing country, and it is in West Africa. As well as, the capital, Freetown
, was founded as a
home for reported former slaves. Currently, Sierra Leone has a population of about 6.1 million
citizens, and on average the life span expectancy is 48 years old male, and 49 years old female.
However, this country s most brutal civil war ended in 2002, and

sisters who try to find true love, while requiring a balance of reason and emotion. Elinor and

how quickly she opened her heart into loving a man, putting feelings before logic. Marianne is

and it sheds light on how their emotions change the plot of the story. Both Elinor and Marianne
get their hearts broken by the men they loved. In the beginning, Elinor meets a man named
Edward Ferrars and the two immediately click almost like they were meant for one another. They
soon face troubles when they find out others don t find them good enough for each other.
Marianne tells Elinor that she finds Edward too dull, while Edwards s mother doesn t approve of
them being together. Putting others aside, the feelings between them begin to grow and we start to
question if they are falling in love. Eventually, Elinor and her family end up moving to Barton
Cottage, causing things with Edward to become complicated. They begin to communicate less, and
Marianne finds it strange that Edward had not came to visit Elinor yet. But Elinor being the strong
one, hides her feelings well and acts like she s not upset with the situation. It is later on in the novel

Photographic Images Hanging On The Gallery Wall
Chapter Five
Photographic Art Images.
There are many books, fine art prints, articles in journals and magazines about architectural
photography by some excellent photographers, emphasising architecture s visual strength, design
and conceptual quality, without which there would be no challenges for the photographer to
attempt to capture in the first instance. Architectural photography has an immense capacity to
stimulate the wonder of the man made world in a virtuoso manner. The intrinsic worth of a
successful work of decorative art photography is that it can open up new perceptions. Through
photography buildings exude a visual charge and imaginative possibilities beyond their everyday
functions, giving the viewer an interesting and engaging ocular experience, and a visual
understanding of the world.
The picture hanging on the gallery wall leaves itself wide open to scrutiny, criticism or study but
ultimately invites, with visual intrigue the aesthetic pleasure and satisfaction, which the viewer
derives from sensory involvement of the image before them.

Such decorative architectural images draw our attention to the way we view the world of buildings
and underline the fact that most people usually only use a building for work and leisure without
really understanding that sometimes these structures are a complex art form in their own right.

Sociological Perspective Of False Consciousness
False consciousness is sociological concept that I can personally identify with the most. False
consciousness acording to the text book is a condition in which people, usually in groups that
are relatively powerless, accept beliefs that work against their own self interests. False
consciousness has to do with myself because of my evangelical parents that defined my
childhood due to their ideology and how so many of peers act against their self intrests due to a
toxic ideology given to them by the ruling class. False Consciousness supports my view that the
world is filled with many deceived subgroups that act in False consciousness. This sociological
concept allowed me to learn more about why False Consciousness occurs and strengthened my
view of the perceived power that the ruling class has over working class but the actual untouched
power the working class has over the ruling class. As I grew up I saw how the church created an
ideology for my parents that justified its excessive exploitation of them and how they simply
accepted this ideology even though it went against many of our best intrests. We missed meals on
a regular basis because the church demanded 15% of all of our income when we had very little to
give. In the text book it gave an example of medival European society; the ruling class could
promote its interest through the Church . My parents church promoted it s intrests and my parents

Most people assume that workplace diversity is about increasing racial, national, gender, or class
representation in other words, recruiting and retaining more people from traditionally
underrepresented identity groups. Taking this commonly held assumption as a starting point, we
set out six years ago to investigate its link to organizational effectiveness. We soon found that
thinking of diversity simply in terms of identity group representation inhibited effectiveness.
Organizations usually take one of two paths in managing diversity. In the name of equality and
fairness, they encourage (and expect) women and people of color to blend in. Or they set them
apart in jobs that relate specifically to their backgrounds, assigning them, for example, to areas that
require them to interface with clients or customers of the same identity group. African American
M.B.A. s often find themselves marketing products to innercity communities; Hispanics frequently
market to Hispanics or work for Latin American subsidiaries. In those kinds of cases, companies
are operating on the assumption that the main virtue identity groups have to offer is a knowledge
of their own people. This assumption is limited and limiting and detrimental to diversity efforts.
What we suggest here is that diversity goes beyond increasing the number of different identity
group affiliations on the payroll to recognizing that such an effort is merely the first step in
managing a diverse workforce for the

Literary Themes In True Grit
There are many themes in the novel True Grit. One thematic concept explored in the book evolves
around the concept of coming of age. The author utilizes many literary elements to convey this
theme to the reader. Some of those literary elements are symbolism, setting and character
development.
One literary element the author uses is setting. True Grit takes place in the Wild West. The Wild
West setting is known to be a place with a significant amount of crime and drama, and Fort
Smith is an example of a Wild West location. Fort Smith was surely not a place for an average 14
year old girl. Even Mattie Rosses Lawyer said this in the book. Fort Smith is no place for a
young girl alone, not even a Mattie . (Portis 78). Living in a dangerous city like Fort Smith may
be impossible for an average 14 year old girl, but not for Mattie. Mattie Ross proves him wrong
and survives the dangerous place. She built up her strength and level of maturity in the town. She
sold horses for $325, watched three people get hanged to death, lived with a random old lady and
hired a Marshal, that she had never met in her life, to help her kill Tom Chaney. Charles Portisuses
the setting of the story to show us the struggles and hardships Mattie had to go through in Fort
Smith. He portrayed that a small girl that can live in a town like Fort Smith is no match for evil
bandits and murderers.
The second literary element utilized by Portis was Symbolism. Symbolism was a big concept in
the novel. There were many symbols in the book, but the ones that best portrayed the theme were
the two pieces of gold and her dads gun.
The Californian pieces of gold were a big part of the story. Mattie s grandpa gave the gold pieces
to her dad on his wedding. Ever since then Frank Ross carried those two pieces of gold
symbolizing union and happiness between him and his Family. When Chaney shot Frank, he took
away the gold pieces from him. This symbolized Chaney taking away happiness from the Ross
family. Later on in the story, Rooster found one of the pieces of gold in Quincy s pocket,
symbolizing that they are on the right track to catching Chaney and that they are almost of halfway
there. The quote that shows this part of

Mobile Ad Hoc Network Essay
Mobile ad hoc network (MANTE) is a group of wireless mobile computers (nodes) in where they
help each other to forward packets when out of range of direct wireless transmission. When out of
range could mean constantly moving, no base station infrastructure or infrastructure destroyed. Ad
hoc networks can effortlessly and inexpensively be established. Ad hoc network can be easily set
up due to the fact it doesn t require a centralized administrator and doesn t require a fixed network
infrastructure (base station/ access point). With the creation of Ad hoc networks came the problem
of secure routing protocols for this type of network.
Ariadne is one the secure routing protocol which was created to improve ad hoc networking
security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ariadne can be implemented in three ways to authenticate routing messages: sharing of secret
keys between all pair of nodes, TESLA (broadcasting authentication) with sharing of secret keys,
and digital signatures. Sharing secret keys between nodes requires n (n 1)/2 keys to be established
in the network (Anjum, 2007), the keys can be installed by the key distribution center before
message routing. This type of approach creates administrative (someone to distribute the keys) and
scalability (time delay) challenges¬¬. The TESLA approach requires the same type of process
as the first, but it adds a single message authentication code (MAC) to a request message, this
creates a security issue when broadcasting the message where the receiver can impersonate the
sender. TESLA then uses one way hash chain and clock synchronization to prevent this. The third
implementation requires each node to have a set of asymmetric key and in short requires each node
to have certain computational capability. The focus will be on TESLA implementation assuming
each commination share a MAC key, every node has one way hash chain capability, all nodes know
the authentication key of the TESLA one way key chain of every other node, and sender trust the
destination source.

It really comes down to whether or not you think a true burger is one that is served on a bun, or
with two pieces of bread.
Charlie Nagreen: In 1885, Charlie sold hamburgers from an ox drawn food stand at the Outagamie
County Fair in Seymour, Wisconsin. He initially sold meatballs, but wasn t very successful. He
quickly realizes that meatballs were too inconvenient, so he decided to flatten them and place
them in between two pieces of bread, so that they would be easier for the fair patrons to eat. Many
came to know him as Hamburger Charlie. He would return to sell them at the fair every year, until
his death in 1950.
Oscar Weber Bilby Family: To date, this is the first known hamburger that was served on a bun.
While the family admits that hamburgers were already served on bread, prior to grandpa Oscar
adding the bun, they still maintain that grandpa Oscar was the true originator of the hamburger.
Grandpa Oscar began serving grilled meat on buns in 1891. He would give them out every fourth

Essay on Fame in Djerassi’s Cantor s Dilemma
Dreams of Fame in Djerassi s Cantor s Dilemma
Opportunistic scientists, the most hypocritical deviants of the modern age, revolve around the
scientific method, or at least they used to. The scientific method once involved formulating a
hypothesis from a problem posed, experimenting, and forming a conclusion that best explained the
data collected. Yet today, those who are willing to critique the work of their peers are themselves
performing the scientific method out of sequence. I propose that scientists, or the treasure hunters
of that field, are no longer interested in permanent solutions, achieved through proper use of the
scientific method, and rather are more interested in solutions that guarantee fame and fortune. ...

Krauss is nothing more than a black mailing criminal and, as a opportunistic scientist , is motivated
by a lust for recognition.
The theme of scientists in search of the pot of gold is mentioned by the characters of Cantor s
Dilemma. Cantor states, ...most scientists suffer from some sort of dissociative personality: on
one side, the rigorous believer in the experimental method, with its set of rules and its ultimate
objective of advancing knowledge; on the other, the fallible human being with all the
accompanying foibles .1 Cantor continues to describe the issue of simultaneous discovery and
then strikes right at the heart of the scientists who step beyond the bounds of the scientific
method. He states, ...a scientists drive, his self esteem, are really based on a very simple desire:
recognition by one s peers .2 Recognition is what the Nobel is about, and if a fictional scientist has
to ignore the methodology that governs science to get it, so be it. Yet, the Nobel Prize is real and
so are the deviant scientists.
In real life there are corrupt scientists who will do whatever it takes to receive popularity.

Masculinity In Things Fall Apart
In Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, is a novel where the reader is introduced with an African
culture, the Igbo culture. It portrays the culture before the confrontation between Nigeria s white
colonial and the traditional culture of Igbo people. One of the character s presented in the novel
values manliness to the extreme and somewhat gets out of hand. The Igbo culture presents the
essential role men had and why they were the head of the family.Men that had titles were

Okonkwo s characterization in the opening of the novel reveals that men gained their fame by
personal achievement which then leads them to be considered as a successful man. Okonkwo is
portrayed as a honorable and well respected man. He did not let his father s characterization affect
him. Fortunately, among these people a man was judged according to his worth and not according
to the worth of his father (achebe8). Evidently, this shows that his value of manliness is very
important to him, being a successful man is an important role to him. Weakness and femininity
were the two characteristics that are vile to him, he tends to call out men with no tiles or
accomplishment, women. Okonkwo does not value manliness just because he desires to, but
because it also plays an important role in his culture. The men in the Igbo culture are the head of
the family, and the only person who has the authority to do anything they desire. Men with titles
and personal achievement were represented as successful men, because they demonstrated that they
were capable of being worthy and showed no weakness. In their culture women were seen as the

WHAT ROLE DOES RELIGION, MORALITY, AND WORLDVIEW PLAY IN THE CREATION
OF PUBLIC POLICY?
Public policy is a statement that defines the procedures of an institution for the achievement of
consistency in decision making. It is the result of a political process, which involves enacting laws
and regulations to enable the addressing of public concern in a constitutional manner. The
efficiency of a government is founded on the presence of proper and reliable policy making
procedures. The process of policy creation is thus the implementation of the constitution by the

Indeed, the conviction of religion gives humans the ability to stand against anyone and anything
thus making religious groups a force to reckon. Religion is a symbol that acts to establish powerful,
pervasive, and long lasting moods and motivation in men formulating conceptions of a general
order of existence and clothing these conceptions with such an aura of factuality that they seem
uniquely realistic. Examples of this influence include the Islamic movement, the strong influence
the Pope has on the Catholic movement, and the impact the Pentecostal movement had on the US
government. The worldview contributes to the aspects of living, which include lifestyle, customs,
thoughts, philosophies, beliefs, and culture. These aspects seem to change with different
generations causing even greater conflict amongst interest groups in policymaking. Indeed,
individuals in opposite factions or groups may agree based on facts but sharply differ on
conclusions simply because of their different worldviews. A classic case of the worldviews

Analysis of Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town
In the poem Anyone Lived in a Pretty how Town E. E. Cummings plays with jumbled syntax, a
seemingly random rhyme scheme, and the paradox of non identical repetition to convey his
message about the ordinariness of daily life, the passing of time, and the inclusive anonymity of
people we encounter in our lives. Anyone Lived in a Pretty how Town describes the daily lives of
the people who live in a certain, nameless town. The town is not named and neither are any of the
townspeople, other than to give titles such as man, woman, child. These anonymous people living
in the anonymous town do nothing notable; in fact, they are all fairly unremarkable as they go
about their daily lives. The poem addresses all the seasons of life that the... Show more content on

Hassan Sabbah s Influence On The World
Hassan Sabbah was born and raised in the city of Qom, Iran in the 1050s to a family of Twelver
Shia. Early in his life, his family moved to Rey, South Khorasan in the district of Tehran. Rey was a
city that had a history of radical thought since the 9th century. It was in this center of religious hub
that Hassan developed a keen interest in metaphysical matters and live by the Twelver code of
instruction. From the age of 7 to 17, he studied at home, and mastered palmistry, languages,
philosophy, astronomy and mathematics.
Rey was also home to the activities of Ismaili missionaries in the territory of Jibal located in

one of the missionaries of his youth, a man who had taught the youthful Hassan in Rey. His name
was Resi Abufasl and he further instructed Hassan.
From here he went to Caucasian Albania, current Azerbaijan, hundreds of miles to the north, and
from there through Armenia. In Armenia, Hassan was persecuted from the region, due to heated

He then turned south and traveled through Iraq, reached Damascus in Syria. He left for Egypt

Introduction and History
Laser Doppler flowmetry, or LDF, is a unique way to measure the microcirculatory blood flow
without a painful or invasive procedure. LDF uses the Doppler shift theory as a way to transmit the
information, with the scattering of light coming from the laser by way of the red blood cells. [A, B,
C] Micro vascular applications have greatly benefited from this type of technology. The accuracy
and reproducibility can be shown after years of extensive research. It can continuously monitor the
blood flow and between every two to five seconds give an average output value. [E]
The blood cell velocity in capillaries is too low to use the technique of the Doppler shift using
ultrasound, as the frequencies of the sound that would reverberate back would be too small to
identify. [B] Using the laser, calculations based upon the measurements between the primary light
source s frequencies that were transferred towards the vasculature and the reflective light coming
back towards the source can determine the blood flow s velocity. [B] This non destructive way to
assess microcirculatory function has been around for approximately 40 years now in its realised
state. The proposed device became experimentally plausible in 1972 when Riva used LDF for
measuring retina vessels in rabbits. [D] Around 1980 another

Theme Of Blank Sonnet
A distinguished sense of hollowness, and darkness is discernable in George Elliot Clarke s poem
Blank Sonnet . This poem expresses, the author s difficult and awkward communication with a
lover through a broken relationship. word choice and imagery is imperative to the overall effect
and tone of the poem. The usage of an atypical sonnetstylization, broken sentences, forms of
metaphors, symbolism, sensory language, and alliteration form strong imagery, and a sense of
disconnect. The overall effect leaves the reader with a resonating feeling of emptiness.
The main theme within Clarke s Sonnet is his distance and inability to communicate with a lover.
This poem is written for his lover as an attempt to connect with her, although within the poem, he is
continuing to communicate poorly. The way in which he copes with this broken relationship drives
the tone of the poem.
A common theme throughout the poem is the coping mechanism used for his troubled
relationship. He does not view his alcoholism as a fault, but as a comfort and an escape. He
yearns to sleep beneath a patchwork quilt of rum . (Clarke 6) Furthermore, he wishes to drink
until he is unaware that his relationship is troubled. He wishes for the slow collapse of language
/ [w]ashed out by alcohol. (Clarke 7 8) He desires to detach, and isolate himself from the situation
mentally, rather than remove himself physically. This suggests that he has no wish to recover from
his alcoholism, and no desire to leave his

Although few other competitive companies exist, through the years Gillette has become so
famous and rigid that it is a household name now. Given this lack of competition, Gillette has the
freewill to do almost anything. Their ads now give more attention to the product system rather
than focusing on the market. The Gillette Mach3, a modern ad is very simple, and pictures the
Gillette blade and mentions its features (Mach 3 Shaving System). Although the ad is very
simple in nature, Mach3 is the most sold Gillette product. Thus, owing to low competition and
the comfort and uniqueness of the Gillette products, the demand is very high, regardless of the
plain features of the ads. Though the demands are high due to lower competition, the Gillette
product pricing remains a controversy. The 1950s ads focused a lot on the cheapness of the
blades and their ability to meet the expense of everyman (Display Ad 71). J. P. Spang, Jr., the
President of the Gillette Company in the 1950 s had said that they had focused on producing
products that are available in quantity and quality, keeping in mind to sell it to the consumer at the
lowest price consistent with a fair profit (Spang 25). Meanwhile, modern ads do not emphasize on
the prices, as they know their products are expensive. Due to their ongoing high demands, the
company probably assumes that in the modern era, the consumers do not get swayed away by
higher prices as long as the product is being upgraded. This

Purposes For Conducting Qualitative Research
Purposes for Conducting Qualitative Research
There are four major purposes for conducting qualitative research. They are exploratory,
explanatory, descriptive and emancipatory.
The purpose of exploratory qualitative research is to investigate little understood phenomenon, to
identify or discover important categories of meaning and to generate hypotheses for future research.
The purpose of explanatory qualitative research is to explain patterns related to the phenomenon
being studied and to identify plausible relationships shaping the phenomenon.
The purpose of descriptive qualitative research is to describe and document phenomena.
The purpose of emancipatory qualitative research is to create opportunities and the will to engage
in social action.
Step 1: Develop a theoretical and conceptual understanding of the phenomenon being studied;
which includes performing background research on the theoretical foundations of the phenomenon
and researching research conducted on the phenomenon s field. This step involves making sure
one fully understands the topic. One should have a clear understanding of the topic before moving
further into the next step. A significant amount of research of the topic should be done to develop
a clear understanding of the topic and how to approach finding background information in regards
to what is being discussed. For example, with the topic of social media and college students, one
should understand what social media is, how and why it is used, and

Essay On Athens Vs Sparta
Both Athens and Sparta hold great historic value for Greece and the world. Athens, the capital and
largest city in Greece was the symbol for freedom, art, and democracy. The city took its name from
the goddess Athena, the goddess of wisdom and knowledge. Sparta, a town near Evrotas River, was
the center of the Peloponnese in southern Greece. This Dorian Greek military state city was the
protector of Greece as it provided a large army for many years.
Both societies were very different in many aspects. Sparta was content with itself and provided its
army when required. Athens on the other hand wanted to take control of more and more land in
Greece. They could not defeat Sparta s army, however they had built a powerful navy which
protected Greece from the Persian threat during Xerxess invasion of Greece.

Dissociative Identity Disorder
The DSM 5 defines dissociative identity disorder (DID) as the occurrence of a minimum of two
different personalities and maybe more than two. It also clarifies that the switching between the
distinct personalities can be observed by the individual who is suffering from dissociative identity
disorder or witnessed by others. (Barlow, 2014, P. 1). This disorder used to be known as multiple
personality disorder, which is more recognized and understood to people without a psychology
background. This disorder can be quite intense to including the different identities have different
names, backgrounds, and memories. Dissociative identity disorderis fairly common in clinical
residents. It is believed that dissociative identity disorder has been around for as long as human
populations have been around. The most primitive cases of an individual suffering from DID
correspond with early cases on Mesmerism. Mesmerism was also known as hypnosis or animal
magnetism. There is a reason for these two occurring together in history and that is they have an
inherent association. The main thing DID and Mesmerism share is that they both deal with the
uncovering of several modified states of consciousness that were out of the ordinary.
The early 1800s gave us the first written records that describe dissociative identity disorder in very
accurate terms, some of the terms are similar to the way we still describe them today. In 1811,

The Adult Human Brain Retains a Large Amount of Plasticity
It is now widely recognised that the adult human brain retains a larger degree of plasticity than
was previously thought. This is perhaps particularly true of the neural mechanisms underlying
sensory perception, where substantial behavioural and neural changes have been demonstrated
in a wide variety of sensory functions following experience. Sensory plasticity has been
recognised for its rehabilitative potential, for instance through perceptual training regimes,
which have been used to improve visual function in adults with amblyopia, a developmental
disorder of vision, and those with central vision loss. Now a new study provides evidence for
visual plasticity in adults with long standing central vision loss who did not undergo any
specific training (Chung, 2013a). Central vision loss, primarily brought about by age related
macular degeneration, is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the developed world
(Bunce and Wormald, 2006). The vast majority of individuals with central vision loss develop a
preferred retinal locus (PRL), a specific region of the peripheral visual field that they use to
perform everyday tasks such as reading. However, peripheral vision is limited in a number of
ways in comparison to foveal vision. For example, in people with normal vision, reading speed,
contrast sensitivity and visual acuity are worse in the periphery compared to the fovea.
Additionally, peripheral vision is limited by visual crowding, which describes the increased

The Rise Of Terrorism
Since 2001, the American society as we know it has changed dramatically. The rise of terrorism
on the homefront has caused us to change how the government interacts with its citizens. The rise

September 11th, 2001, caused the government to step back from the idea of transparency and
take a look at its own citizens as possible threats to national security. If one were to take a
Bayesian inference following the events of 911, the governmental response could have been
seen as inevitable. The national security of the hegemonic state of the world had become

better. These uncomfortable encounters with other people are because Emily is socially awkward.
Emily s speech shows that she is socially awkward. An example of this... Show more content on

An example of this from the text comes when Faulkner writes, After he father s death she went
out very little; after her sweetheart went away, people hardly saw her at all (264). Emily keeping
to herself and away from anyone after these two events shows that she doesn t know how to
interact with other people. The fact that her sweetheart suddenly deserted her also raises some
concerns in regards to her social skills. Another example from the text that Emily was socially
awkward occurs when Faulkner writes, He [the Negro] talked to no one, probably not even to
her, for his voice had grown harsh and rusty as if from disuse (268). This shows that Emily either
doesn t care to or doesn t know how to communicate with other people. Considering her slave was
one of the few people she ever interacted with, it is bizarre that she rarely communicated with
him. A final example that shows Emily is socially awkward happens when Faulkner writes, The
man [Homer Barron] himself lay in the bed (264). Emily killing Homer as a way to keep him
again shows that Emily doesn t know how to interact with other human beings. She even goes as
far as to leave his rotting corpse in the bed and sleep next to it, which only adds to Emily s social
awkwardness.
In A Rose for Emily, Emily struggles with her social skills countless times throughout the story.
Emily s speech, and actions clearly exemplify her social awkwardness, as well as the other
character s words about Emily. However, it s not her fault. Emily s father destined her to a life of
limited human interaction and a life cut off from the world outside her large estate. Perhaps Emily
s father was just trying to protect his daughter, or that only the best suitor would do for her. The
one thing that is certain, though, is Emily s obvious lack of social

The Russian Revolution Essay
The Russian Revolution
Here are some of the causes of the Russian Revolution in March 1917:
~Failures in the War
~The mutiny in the Army
~The Tsarina and Rasputin
~Food Shortages
~Strikes
PREFACE:
In 1904 The Tsar of Russia (Nicholas II) embarked on a war with Japan, hoping for a quick and
glorious victory that would unite the country, decrease support for the Tsars opponents and gain
control over Korea and Manchuria. Unfortunately for the Tsar, the Japanese were well prepared,
both industrially and military. The Japanese crushed the Russian army and destroyed most of it s
fleet. Damaged both militarily and industrially, Russia had to sign a peace treaty. In 1905 the Tsar
crushed the attempted revolution using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other reason was transporting the crop once it was harvested. ` The USA could fit into
Russia two and a half times and over and Britain nearly 100 times`4, the problem with
transportation was that the railroads were very often the only way to transport large amounts of
goods as Russia s conditions often made roads impassable. `By 1900 Russia had only as many
miles of track as Britain`5 and Britain was 100 times smaller. This meant that there were very
large delays of delivering food and most of it rotted before even reaching town. The only way of
transporting goods from the industrial West to the unfarmable East was the Trans Siberian
Express, which took more than a week to complete its journey from Moscow to Vladivostok.
During the WWI (which started in 1914), Food Shortages increased greatly because more
strikes begun demanding an end to the war. Strikes of course caused food shortages as peasants
began striking and not producing any food. Also more soldiers were needed to join the army and
so the factory workers were taken to fight and peasants left the countryside to seek better jobs in
factories so fewer farmers were left to grow food. Another very important reason that caused an
increase in food shortage was that ` the Russian railway system was being used to carry supplies
to the war front and so trains carrying food to the cities had been reduced`1so

Animal Ethics Peter Singer
nor does man any moral obligation to consider the interests of these animals. In light of this, one
must question Cohen s moral motivations. If it is scientifically proven that caring for animals in a
humane manner is absolutely vital to the survival of our own kind, what motives must a man who
denies the legitimacy of this necessity have for humanity? It is one thing to make the claim that in
certain circumstances, it is vital that humans use animals as a resource, but Cohen goes even
further to blatantly disregard animal s ability to suffer, and he denies all rights of animals due to
their lack of capacity for free moral judgment (Pojman and Vaughn 817). Cohen also proudly
proclaims himself a speciesist , meaning that he openly values... Show more content on

Singer notes how all discrimination is unseen at some point until the prejudice is forcefully pointed
out; that each person should be willing to exam their most basic, accepted values and criticize our
most fundamental values (Pojman and Vaughn 802). Taking this approach, Singer continues to
question the morality of killing and using animals as a commodity. Singer considers the ideas
discussed earlier, that this determination does not depend so much on the capabilities of animals,
but rather, their sentience. Singer states that the questions is not can they reason, nor can they talk,
but, can they suffer? This idea captures the vital element that Cohen chooses to overlook. The key
commonality between humans and animals is that we both can experience pain and suffering, and
both would rather avoid it. Cohen not only disregards the environmentally harmful effects of his
side of the argument, but he also considers power to be his prime reasoning for considering
animals to be inferior. He acknowledges animal s sentient ability, but due to their lack of what he
deems intelligent capability and moral choice, he sees this as something simply to be accepted as
part of the relationship between humans and

Summary Of The Fan-Celebrity Relationship In Johnny Cash
5.1 Introduction
In the preceding quotation, Patsy draws our attention to the fan celebrity relationship, in this
instance, with Johnny Cash. Although several fans in my sample share her sentiment that Cash is
similar to a member of their family Patsy places him in even higher esteem than do other fans. I
isolate this example in the introduction to this chapter because of its mention that Johnny Cash, for
Patsy, is not a god, but, as she says, he s pretty much the next thing to it. Fandom as religion
literature maintains a tendency to bridge the gap between Patsy and God, by referring to the
celebrity as a mediator or redeemer figure, in some cases, literally, and in others it is a
metaphorical rendering. It is accurate to write the celebrity performs certain mediation for the
fan; celebrities, through their image, mediate fans hopes and desires, but also more mundane
ways fans interpret their world, such as the examples illustrated in Chapter 4. For Fandom as
religion scholars, however, celebrities such as Elvis Presley and Cliff Richards mediate more
sacred, rather than quotidian, concerns. In Fandom as religion literature, the sacred is set apart and
protected from everyday banality, and through universe maintenance, such as the shrine building
described by Doss in the chapter Saint Elvis, places the celebrity on a sacred pedestal. Other than
such connotation, the celebrity as sacred figure is a poorly defined entity in Fandom as Religion
literature (see Doss 1999;

The Walt Disney Company Understanding Monopolies
The Walt Disney Company Understanding Monopolies Overview and History The Walt Disney
Company is a major media and entertainment enterprise that is based in Burbank, California and
operates in more than forty countries with a worldwide appeal. After going bankrupt with his first
cartoon company Laugh O Gram in 1922 Walt Disney moved to Hollywood, California to start
over (Campbell, Martin, Fabos 456). Walt and his brother Roy created the Disney Brothers
Cartoon studio in 1923 and they signed a contract with M.J. Winkler to produce a series of
animated comedies which became known as the Alice Comedies (Walt Disney). In 1928 they
debuted Steamboat Willie, an animated film with synchronized sound that features the character
Mickey Mouse who would go on to become the world known icon for the Walt Disney Corporation
(Walt Disney). The following year the brothers replaced their partnership with the creation of four
companies: Walt Disney Production, Ltd.; Walt Disney Enterprises; Liled Realty and Investment
Company; and the Disney Film Recording Company (Walt Disney). From a struggling cartoon
studio the company grew and expanded to include motion pictures, documentaries, and television
programs. The continued successes enabled Walt Disney Productions to make an initial public
stock offering in 1940 (Walt Disney). The Disney Empire continued to grow with the opening of its
first theme park, Disneyland in 1955. Additional theme parks including Walt Disney World, Epcot,

Antibiotics Combat Infectious Bacteria
Introduction:
Antibiotics have the ability to kill or hinder the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics contain compounds
that are naturally produced by organisms to combat diseases caused by microbes. Discovery of
penicillin by Sir Alexander Fleming became the first stepping stone of many new antibiotics of
today s modern medicine. Antibiotics typically invade the very components that make up bacteria,
such as cell walls and metabolic pathways (Sato et al., 2014). However, frequent mutations of
bacteria cause today s strains to become more resistant. One of many ways which bacteria undergo
mutation is through horizontal transfer of genes (Lindsay J.A., 2013). The war against disease is a
battle that humanity has fought for centuries, and only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Polymyxin B is known to only be effective against Gram negative bacteria, which was consistent
with the collected data. Gram positive effective antibiotics and protein synthesis inhibitors such as
azithromycin and tetracycline were expected to be ineffective to Gram negative bacteria, along
with DNA dependent RNA polymerase inhibitor such as rifampin. However, contrasting results
were depicted after 48 hours of incubation at 37вЃ°C. The bacteria appeared to be susceptible to
azithromycin when the bacteria were anticipated to be resistant. This discrepancy could be
explained through the molecular mechanism of azithromycin. Azithromycin induces adenine
methylation in the rRNA in the 50S ribosomal subunit, and past experiments have indicated that it
has a higher affinity for the erythromycin binding site for the ribosome to cause azithromycin to
be more susceptible in Gram negative bacteria (Retsema et al., 1987). In addition, a polypeptide
inhibitor such as penicillin was anticipated to be susceptible to the Gram negative bacteria, but it
was displayed to be resistant. Penicillin is known to be a ОІ lactam antibiotic consisting of ОІ
lactam ring that inhibits the cell wall synthesis of Enterobacteriaceae. A prevalent mechanism for
resistance to ОІ lactam antibiotic is hyperproduction of ОІ lactamase (Philippon et al., 2002).
Moreover, it is proposed that bacteria are resistant to penicillin due to the formation of microbial
colony biofilm (Thomson

Communication In Autistic Children
The definition as well as the symptoms of autism have been mentioned in the previous part of the
research proposal. Symptoms of autism will usually start showing when a child is around 18months
(Hourigan Hourigan, 2009:40). The main problem concerning autism that this literature study will
focus on is the delay and defect with regards to communication in the autistic child with specific
reference to the classroom situation.
Extensive studies have been done on the autistic spectrum disorder. These children will be
introverted and usually live their lives in an isolated world. They struggle with many different
aspects of everyday life which causes them to retreat into their comfort zone of seclusion. Educators
and teachers should strive to understand this comfort zone in order to be able to relate and
communicate effectively with these children. Autistic children struggle to relate with one another,
communications are extremely difficult. Different strategies should be implemented to encourage
and help autistic learners to communicate more effectively with one another and with their teachers
to facilitate teaching and learning in the classroom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only do these children seem to enjoy music but they also frequently demonstrate a high level of
musical ability (Armstrong, 2010). Autistic children perform exceptionally well in areas of music
when compared to the average healthy child. Armstrong (2010) further states that music also seems
to have an effect on the ability of people with autism to memorise nonvisual material . Clearly,
autistic children have a strong affinity towards music. The fact that children with autism display
special interest and ability in music has led to the question whether music can t play a role in the
communicative approach with these

Influence of the Partition of India in Literature

Parsee lady journalist (Monsoon, 2000). Khushwant Singh is a Sikh Indian journalist. He has
composed books like Train to Pakistan, I Shall Not Hear the Nightingale and Delhi. The present
study proposes to attempt a correlation fundamentally between Ice Candy Man and Train to

The Partition of India in 1947 influenced a large number of individuals (Hasan I) and keeps on
influencing the individuals and the nations work today, and is dreaded to be more regrettable than
Holocaust. Sidhwa in Ice Candy Man indicates that before the Partition, the distinctive groups and

Muslims and the Hindus could even become hopelessly enamored with one another crosswise over
religious qualifications. Shanta, a Hindu young lady and Ayah by calling, is coveted by an
aggregation of her admirers comprising of the Muslim hero of the novel, Ice Candy Man, Sher

IT improves communication thus improving customer satisfaction and encourages innovation and
creativity which can be used in business growth and expansion. IT also improves the Human
Resource Management process and saves time through automation of various tasks. The use of
internet and computers to work eliminated the space and time boundaries as employees can work
from anywhere and anytime.
Though we enjoy the benefits that come with technology at work, it also tends to be risky,
especially when it comes to data/information security. Those employees in important decision
making positions will need access to private business information which can pose as a threat, as it
is very difficult to monitor the usage and privacy of this information. Employees carry flash drives
at work, so they can easily transfer critical business information and use it for their own personal
gains.

The Electoral College System For Electing The United...
With the Electoral College system for electing the United States president winning the most
popular votes is not a guarantee a candidate will become president. They must also get 270
Electoral College votes to win. A candidate can become president if he gets at least 270 Electoral
College votes and does not have the most popular votes. Many people do not like the Electoral
college system for this reason. They feel the person with the most popular votes should win.
Unfortunately for them, the Founding Fathers did not have much faith in the American people
selecting the President. They believed the American people s political knowledge was limited so
they were not qualified to elect their President.
At a meeting of the Constitution Convention held on July 17, 1787, Delegate Mason stated A
popular election, in this case, is radically vicious. The ignorance of the people would put it in the
power of some one set of men dispersed the candidates. At the same convention on July 19, 1787,
Delegate Gerry stated that The people are uninformed and would be misled by a few designing men.
The Founding Fathers were afraid if they gave unlimited power to elect the president to some
politically uninformed people it could lead to a tyranny of the majority. To keep this from
happening, they formed the Electoral College system that would be used to elect the president.
They felt the Electoral College system would keep the election of the president from the politically

key Variables The independent variable is the home visitation intervention and the education on
prenatal care and breastfeeding. The dependent variable is the parent child interaction and level of
responsiveness and communication as well as the increase knowledge of expectations for the child

Except For Those Of Us Who Are Above It By Herb Block
History classes have always been a requirement for high school students to graduate. Some of these
classes include United States history, Government, and World History. Although, there is a lack of
any classes dealing with local history. State history alone only receives attention in the elementary
school system and about a week in Government class. All school systems should include, in the
required classes to take to receive a high school diploma, a local historyclass, so that the students
may have a knowledge of the place where they live. Although, a more underlining issue behind
local history needs to be answered first. In the general world of history, local history is too often in

They should rather figure out their own history and help out the poor amateurs trying their best
to put the puzzle together. Furthermore, local history in general needs to be cared about more.
Like said before, the top level of prestige among historians is occupied by those who teach
African or Asian history (Hicken 1). This prestige is also portrayed very well by Herb Block s
political cartoon Except for Those of Us Who Are above It. Which, displays bureaucrats sitting on
top of Washington above everyone else, with a caption Equal Justice Under Law. Which, shows
that those of more important roles consider themselves better than the lower rules. All together, this
shows that after people spend countless years in school and in the work force being a historian, they
are studying the histories abroad and of more accomplishment, rather than their own with facts that
have no meaning. Although, even major historians have hypocritically given themselves over to
the study of some phase of history which, in the long run, amounted to only a minor aspect of a
larger problem (Hicken 1). Yet, they ridicule local history and those who research it. These issues
amongst historians are the major underlying issues when proposing the concept of a local history
class. Now, looking at local history in a more positive light; it has an impression on the current
environments people are surrounded with. What has happened in the past has shaped the places

Crime And Juvenile And Adult Crimes
In today s criminal justice system in the United States, there is a lot of dispute between what the
qualifications are for juvenile and adult crimes. Some believe that the only difference is age.
Others say it is the severity of the crime. It s obvious that when adults commit crimes, whether they
are a misdemeanor offense or a felony, they pay for it. The confliction comes when a juvenile
commits a crime. What exactly determines if they are tried as an adult or a juvenile? Does it
vary by state to state? Are there federal laws that govern that debate? There have been cases
where children have been tried in a court of law as an adult. So what exactly is the clear cut reason
why juveniles are tired sometimes as adults, and other times as juveniles?
So what exactly is a crime to begin with? According to dictionary.com, crime is defined as an action
or an instance of negligence that is deemed injurious to the public welfare or morals or to the
interests of the state and that is legally prohibited. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse
/crime?s=t). People of all ages commit a crime. The crimes that people commit can range from
shoplifting to murder. But what happens when a juvenile commits one of these crimes? First, let s
cover what a juvenile is. According to (http://www.hg.org/juvenile crime law.html), Minors under
the age of 18 years, who commit a crime, or otherwise violate established rules and statutes, are
identified as juvenile delinquents, juvenile offenders,

  • 2. Synthesis Essay on Indocumented Immigrants in the US In my ENC 1101 class, we were required to go through several of processes to map out the formula of writing our final assignment in our class: a synthesis essay. The most imperative part of our assignment was to choose a synthesis essay question on a list that our professor gave us. The second most vital ingredient in the formula was to choose two texts from our Allyn Bacon Guide to Writing book which would be the backbone of our synthesis essay that we would have to expand on and create our own ideas from. The question that I choose to further my vague knowledge on immigrationwas: What should the United States do to make progress in solving the problem of undocumented immigration? The texts and ideas that I write about to answer my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seeing the many sides of the immigration conflict, I believe the Congress should allow undocumented immigrants to live in America, but they must show that they are an asset to America. Despite the fact that Williams writes for a call to action for the resolution of immigration in the United States, his article is a blog article written for his blog followers. Williams article is not intended for scholarly audiences, while Hanson s article is. Hanson s article is published on the History News Network, which requires great thought and reviewing, whereas Williams is just required to write an article and post on the Huffington Post in his profile, without an editor to review the contents of the article. Williams is free to voice his opinion in whichever language he desires due to it being a blog article, and Hanson is not. However, due to this being so, Hanson s article proves to more credible that Williams article, especially due to the fact that Hanson is a military historian and political essayist. But, Williams article provides pathos in his article by including a personal anecdote in the introduction of it. The anecdote transcends the article to his purpose of explaining the political part of the immigration issue, making his standpoint and call to action clear. But then again, Hanson writes with logos, making his readers look ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Natural Law Enforces Human Rights Natural Law enforces human rights. When we look at abortions laws we see between a legal system based on the legal theory of natural law the law that comes from God s nature and inherent right and wrong as He defines it furthermore a legal system based on legal positivism (law is derived from whatever man says is law no inherent right and wrong). Prior to the turn of the 20th century, legal philosophy from whence laws were derived in the Western world was based upon a natural law theory. A belief that there was an inherent right and wrong based on God s principles. In the late 1800 s early 1900 s the legal philosophy began to shift and is now predominantly based upon legal positivismwhich says that law is only right or wrong because man has made it so. Natural law is based on the character of God; thus, like Him, it does not change as man changes. The importance of how natural law enforces human rights Natural Law shapes conduct, forces specific conduct, and is designed by God to influence moral behavior. Natural law imposes morality which enforces the protection of human rights. Natural law gives a person the free will to do whatever they please as long as that free will does not harm others or violates the Natural laws created by God. Nonetheless, God is the source of Natural Law with an expression of moral order through the word of God. Their theories, principles, and beliefs share many similarities. But at the same time, show many differences. Inspired by the work of Itard and Seguin, two almost forgotten French doctors, Maria Montessori took the idea of scientific approach to develop her theories, principles and beliefs in early childhood education, which through observation and experimentation. At 0 3 years old, children are unconsciously absorbing what is around him and is more reactive than purposeful in his actions. Rudolf Steiner develops early childhood education based on the age development of a child. Steiner s theory centered on all aspects of growth and development including spirituality. Tyrannosaurus Rex Fossils In 2005, Palaeontologist Mary Schweitzer and her team made the discovery of finding original soft tissue, including blood vessels, in a Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil in Montana. Many of Schweitzer s fellow scientists insisted that she had been mistaken because of previous theories of how fossils were preserved. The fossilwas buried in a permeable sandstone, where groundwater could get in. Since organic material is quickly broken down in water, the soft tissue should have decayed quickly under the conditions. When an animal dies, the soft tissues (skin) decays and disappears over time, while hard tissues (bone) may gradually obtain minerals from the environment and become fossils. Evolutionists scrambled to propose a reason on how the soft tissue could have been completely preserved in pristine condition (Fields, H. 2006) (Morris, D. 2005). The extensive study of bones from New Zealand s extinct giant Moa bird calculated that the lifespan of DNA should be measured in thousands, not millions of years. The Garden Of Forking Paths Theme The infinite is a concept that is difficult for man to comprehend, yet in Jorge Luis Borges short story The Garden of Forking Paths he does such a fantastic job of describing this idea of infinity and its effect on mankind through his explanation of a labyrinth. This short story also can be used as somewhat of a lens while reading Fun Home by Alison Bechdel. Borges story begins with frame narrativebut both stories are, for the most part, told from a first person point of view. This aspect of point of view is very helpful in supporting the idea of infinite possibilities and infinite universes. By writing their stories from a first person point of view Bechdel and Borges give their readers a glimpse into the idea that each action, however little that action or decision may be, always has a reaction that can alter the outcome of a persons life drastically. Each action, can have different outcomes that essentially leads to infinite outcomes in other universes. A majority of Borges story is told from a first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Borges The Garden of Forking Paths he shows that perhaps there are many sides to a story and a person should not just choose one and trust it entirely. Alison Bechdel promotes a similar idea in Fun Home, and shows that each action, no matter how small, can have a large effect on a person s life. It is impossible to explain an exact outcome because there are numerous reasons why a certain result occurred. While both of these stories explore completely different topics, they relate to each other in underlying theme. Writing these two pieces in a first person point of view makes each character seem somewhat untrustworthy, and this is why the idea of infinite possibilities is so relevant. It is such a difficult concept to grasp and completely understand, however the infinite plays a much bigger role in a person s life than they can even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Positivism Advantages Positivism developed a particular scientific method and their method uses rationale thinking (deduction and induction thinking), to try and establish the truth (Usher, 1996). In the following essay I will discuss why positivism is attractive, who would benefit from positivism, why positivists call human beings things , and what the educational implications are. Mostly due to ignorance, and the majority doesn t pay attention to the needs of developing countries. For instance, the only time a person may think of a developing countryis when the see the commercials on television, and believes that this must be the only issues facing developing countries. Normally, people visualize those commercials asking for money to feed, or asking for help of some type of medical expenses. Take the United States as an example, and often this country would release funds to foreign aid before their own citizens. Which could easily cause tension amongst the government and the American people. There are many different choices when comes to picking a developing country. However, the country of Sierra Leone will be the country up for discussion. Sierra Leone is one example of what the World Bankconsiders to be a developing country, and it is in West Africa. As well as, the capital, Freetown , was founded as a home for reported former slaves. There are many books, fine art prints, articles in journals and magazines about architectural photography by some excellent photographers, emphasising architecture s visual strength, design and conceptual quality, without which there would be no challenges for the photographer to attempt to capture in the first instance. Architectural photography has an immense capacity to stimulate the wonder of the man made world in a virtuoso manner. The intrinsic worth of a successful work of decorative art photography is that it can open up new perceptions. Through photography buildings exude a visual charge and imaginative possibilities beyond their everyday functions, giving the viewer an interesting and engaging ocular experience, and a visual understanding of the world. The picture hanging on the gallery wall leaves itself wide open to scrutiny, criticism or study but ultimately invites, with visual intrigue the aesthetic pleasure and satisfaction, which the viewer derives from sensory involvement of the image before them. False consciousness acording to the text book is a condition in which people, usually in groups that are relatively powerless, accept beliefs that work against their own self interests. False consciousness has to do with myself because of my evangelical parents that defined my childhood due to their ideology and how so many of peers act against their self intrests due to a toxic ideology given to them by the ruling class. False Consciousness supports my view that the world is filled with many deceived subgroups that act in False consciousness. This sociological concept allowed me to learn more about why False Consciousness occurs and strengthened my view of the perceived power that the ruling class has over working class but the actual untouched power the working class has over the ruling class. As I grew up I saw how the church created an ideology for my parents that justified its excessive exploitation of them and how they simply accepted this ideology even though it went against many of our best intrests. We missed meals on a regular basis because the church demanded 15% of all of our income when we had very little to give. Most people assume that workplace diversity is about increasing racial, national, gender, or class representation in other words, recruiting and retaining more people from traditionally underrepresented identity groups. Taking this commonly held assumption as a starting point, we set out six years ago to investigate its link to organizational effectiveness. We soon found that thinking of diversity simply in terms of identity group representation inhibited effectiveness. Organizations usually take one of two paths in managing diversity. In the name of equality and fairness, they encourage (and expect) women and people of color to blend in. Or they set them apart in jobs that relate specifically to their backgrounds, assigning them, for example, to areas that require them to interface with clients or customers of the same identity group. African American M.B.A. s often find themselves marketing products to innercity communities; Hispanics frequently market to Hispanics or work for Latin American subsidiaries. In those kinds of cases, companies are operating on the assumption that the main virtue identity groups have to offer is a knowledge of their own people. This assumption is limited and limiting and detrimental to diversity efforts. What we suggest here is that diversity goes beyond increasing the number of different identity group affiliations on the payroll to recognizing that such an effort is merely the first step in managing a diverse workforce for the ... • 17. Literary Themes In True Grit There are many themes in the novel True Grit. One thematic concept explored in the book evolves around the concept of coming of age. The author utilizes many literary elements to convey this theme to the reader. Some of those literary elements are symbolism, setting and character development. One literary element the author uses is setting. True Grit takes place in the Wild West. The Wild West setting is known to be a place with a significant amount of crime and drama, and Fort Smith is an example of a Wild West location. Fort Smith was surely not a place for an average 14 year old girl. Even Mattie Rosses Lawyer said this in the book. Fort Smith is no place for a young girl alone, not even a Mattie . (Portis 78). Living in a dangerous city like Fort Smith may be impossible for an average 14 year old girl, but not for Mattie. Mattie Ross proves him wrong and survives the dangerous place. She built up her strength and level of maturity in the town. She sold horses for $325, watched three people get hanged to death, lived with a random old lady and hired a Marshal, that she had never met in her life, to help her kill Tom Chaney. Charles Portisuses the setting of the story to show us the struggles and hardships Mattie had to go through in Fort Smith. He portrayed that a small girl that can live in a town like Fort Smith is no match for evil bandits and murderers. The second literary element utilized by Portis was Symbolism. Symbolism was a big concept in the novel. There were many symbols in the book, but the ones that best portrayed the theme were the two pieces of gold and her dads gun. The Californian pieces of gold were a big part of the story. Mattie s grandpa gave the gold pieces to her dad on his wedding. Ever since then Frank Ross carried those two pieces of gold symbolizing union and happiness between him and his Family. When Chaney shot Frank, he took away the gold pieces from him. This symbolized Chaney taking away happiness from the Ross family. Later on in the story, Rooster found one of the pieces of gold in Quincy s pocket, symbolizing that they are on the right track to catching Chaney and that they are almost of halfway there. Ad hoc network can be easily set up due to the fact it doesn t require a centralized administrator and doesn t require a fixed network infrastructure (base station/ access point). With the creation of Ad hoc networks came the problem of secure routing protocols for this type of network. Ariadne is one the secure routing protocol which was created to improve ad hoc networking security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ariadne can be implemented in three ways to authenticate routing messages: sharing of secret keys between all pair of nodes, TESLA (broadcasting authentication) with sharing of secret keys, and digital signatures. Sharing secret keys between nodes requires n (n 1)/2 keys to be established in the network (Anjum, 2007), the keys can be installed by the key distribution center before message routing. This type of approach creates administrative (someone to distribute the keys) and scalability (time delay) challenges¬¬. The TESLA approach requires the same type of process as the first, but it adds a single message authentication code (MAC) to a request message, this creates a security issue when broadcasting the message where the receiver can impersonate the sender. TESLA then uses one way hash chain and clock synchronization to prevent this. The third implementation requires each node to have a set of asymmetric key and in short requires each node to have certain computational capability. The focus will be on TESLA implementation assuming each commination share a MAC key, every node has one way hash chain capability, all nodes know the authentication key of the TESLA one way key chain of every other node, and sender trust the destination source. The Principles Of Laser Doppler Flowmetry 2 Table of Contents Introduction and History1 The Principles Of Laser Doppler Flowmetry2 Clinical Applications4 Recent Developments4 Glossary5 Works Cited6 Introduction and History Laser Doppler flowmetry, or LDF, is a unique way to measure the microcirculatory blood flow without a painful or invasive procedure. LDF uses the Doppler shift theory as a way to transmit the information, with the scattering of light coming from the laser by way of the red blood cells. [A, B, C] Micro vascular applications have greatly benefited from this type of technology. The accuracy and reproducibility can be shown after years of extensive research. It can continuously monitor the blood flow and between every two to five seconds give an average output value. [E] The blood cell velocity in capillaries is too low to use the technique of the Doppler shift using ultrasound, as the frequencies of the sound that would reverberate back would be too small to identify. [B] Using the laser, calculations based upon the measurements between the primary light source s frequencies that were transferred towards the vasculature and the reflective light coming back towards the source can determine the blood flow s velocity. [B] This non destructive way to assess microcirculatory function has been around for approximately 40 years now in its realised state. The proposed device became experimentally plausible in 1972 when Riva used LDF for measuring retina vessels in rabbits. [D] Around 1980 another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This poem expresses, the author s difficult and awkward communication with a lover through a broken relationship. word choice and imagery is imperative to the overall effect and tone of the poem. The usage of an atypical sonnetstylization, broken sentences, forms of metaphors, symbolism, sensory language, and alliteration form strong imagery, and a sense of disconnect. They are exploratory, explanatory, descriptive and emancipatory. The purpose of exploratory qualitative research is to investigate little understood phenomenon, to identify or discover important categories of meaning and to generate hypotheses for future research. The purpose of explanatory qualitative research is to explain patterns related to the phenomenon being studied and to identify plausible relationships shaping the phenomenon. This is perhaps particularly true of the neural mechanisms underlying sensory perception, where substantial behavioural and neural changes have been demonstrated in a wide variety of sensory functions following experience. Sensory plasticity has been recognised for its rehabilitative potential, for instance through perceptual training regimes, which have been used to improve visual function in adults with amblyopia, a developmental disorder of vision, and those with central vision loss. Now a new study provides evidence for visual plasticity in adults with long standing central vision loss who did not undergo any specific training (Chung, 2013a). Central vision loss, primarily brought about by age related macular degeneration, is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the developed world (Bunce and Wormald, 2006). Now also imagine that your father cuts you off from the world and the people in it, and the only human contact and relationships you grow up with are with that of your father and a house slave. Living this way until your early adulthood when your father dies it would be a miracle that you developed any social skills at all. For Emily in A Rose for Emilyby William Faulknerthis is her life. The interactions that Emily has with other people throughout the story can only be described as odd, but she doesn t know any better. These uncomfortable encounters with other people are because Emily is socially awkward. Emily s speech shows that she is socially awkward. An example of this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this from the text comes when Faulkner writes, After he father s death she went out very little; after her sweetheart went away, people hardly saw her at all (264). Emily keeping to herself and away from anyone after these two events shows that she doesn t know how to interact with other people. The fact that her sweetheart suddenly deserted her also raises some concerns in regards to her social skills. Another example from the text that Emily was socially awkward occurs when Faulkner writes, He [the Negro] talked to no one, probably not even to her, for his voice had grown harsh and rusty as if from disuse (268). This shows that Emily either doesn t care to or doesn t know how to communicate with other people. Considering her slave was one of the few people she ever interacted with, it is bizarre that she rarely communicated with him. A final example that shows Emily is socially awkward happens when Faulkner writes, The man [Homer Barron] himself lay in the bed (264). Emily killing Homer as a way to keep him again shows that Emily doesn t know how to interact with other human beings. She even goes as far as to leave his rotting corpse in the bed and sleep next to it, which only adds to Emily s social awkwardness. In A Rose for Emily, Emily struggles with her social skills countless times throughout the story. Emily s speech, and actions clearly exemplify her social awkwardness, as well as the other character s words about Emily. However, it s not her fault. Emily s father destined her to a life of limited human interaction and a life cut off from the world outside her large estate. Perhaps Emily s father was just trying to protect his daughter, or that only the best suitor would do for her. The one thing that is certain, though, is Emily s obvious lack of social ... The Russian Revolution Essay The Russian Revolution Here are some of the causes of the Russian Revolution in March 1917: ~Failures in the War ~The mutiny in the Army ~The Tsarina and Rasputin ~Food Shortages ~Strikes PREFACE: In 1904 The Tsar of Russia (Nicholas II) embarked on a war with Japan, hoping for a quick and glorious victory that would unite the country, decrease support for the Tsars opponents and gain control over Korea and Manchuria. Unfortunately for the Tsar, the Japanese were well prepared, both industrially and military. The Japanese crushed the Russian army and destroyed most of it s fleet. Damaged both militarily and industrially, Russia had to sign a peace treaty. In 1905 the Tsar crushed the attempted revolution using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The other reason was transporting the crop once it was harvested. ` The USA could fit into Russia two and a half times and over and Britain nearly 100 times`4, the problem with transportation was that the railroads were very often the only way to transport large amounts of goods as Russia s conditions often made roads impassable. `By 1900 Russia had only as many miles of track as Britain`5 and Britain was 100 times smaller. This meant that there were very large delays of delivering food and most of it rotted before even reaching town. The only way of transporting goods from the industrial West to the unfarmable East was the Trans Siberian Express, which took more than a week to complete its journey from Moscow to Vladivostok. During the WWI (which started in 1914), Food Shortages increased greatly because more strikes begun demanding an end to the war. Strikes of course caused food shortages as peasants began striking and not producing any food. Also more soldiers were needed to join the army and so the factory workers were taken to fight and peasants left the countryside to seek better jobs in factories so fewer farmers were left to grow food. Another very important reason that caused an increase in food shortage was that ` the Russian railway system was being used to carry supplies to the war front and so trains carrying food to the cities had been reduced`1so ... • 43. Animal Ethics Peter Singer nor does man any moral obligation to consider the interests of these animals. In light of this, one must question Cohen s moral motivations. If it is scientifically proven that caring for animals in a humane manner is absolutely vital to the survival of our own kind, what motives must a man who denies the legitimacy of this necessity have for humanity? It is one thing to make the claim that in certain circumstances, it is vital that humans use animals as a resource, but Cohen goes even further to blatantly disregard animal s ability to suffer, and he denies all rights of animals due to their lack of capacity for free moral judgment (Pojman and Vaughn 817). Singer notes how all discrimination is unseen at some point until the prejudice is forcefully pointed out; that each person should be willing to exam their most basic, accepted values and criticize our most fundamental values (Pojman and Vaughn 802). Taking this approach, Singer continues to question the morality of killing and using animals as a commodity. Singer considers the ideas discussed earlier, that this determination does not depend so much on the capabilities of animals, but rather, their sentience. Singer states that the questions is not can they reason, nor can they talk, but, can they suffer? This idea captures the vital element that Cohen chooses to overlook. The key commonality between humans and animals is that we both can experience pain and suffering, and both would rather avoid it. Cohen not only disregards the environmentally harmful effects of his side of the argument, but he also considers power to be his prime reasoning for considering animals to be inferior. He acknowledges animal s sentient ability, but due to their lack of what he deems intelligent capability and moral choice, he sees this as something simply to be accepted as part of the relationship between humans and ... • 45. Summary Of The Fan-Celebrity Relationship In Johnny Cash 5.1 Introduction In the preceding quotation, Patsy draws our attention to the fan celebrity relationship, in this instance, with Johnny Cash. Although several fans in my sample share her sentiment that Cash is similar to a member of their family Patsy places him in even higher esteem than do other fans. I isolate this example in the introduction to this chapter because of its mention that Johnny Cash, for Patsy, is not a god, but, as she says, he s pretty much the next thing to it. Fandom as religion literature maintains a tendency to bridge the gap between Patsy and God, by referring to the celebrity as a mediator or redeemer figure, in some cases, literally, and in others it is a metaphorical rendering. It is accurate to write the celebrity performs certain mediation for the fan; celebrities, through their image, mediate fans hopes and desires, but also more mundane ways fans interpret their world, such as the examples illustrated in Chapter 4. For Fandom as religion scholars, however, celebrities such as Elvis Presley and Cliff Richards mediate more sacred, rather than quotidian, concerns. In Fandom as religion literature, the sacred is set apart and protected from everyday banality, and through universe maintenance, such as the shrine building described by Doss in the chapter Saint Elvis, places the celebrity on a sacred pedestal. Other than such connotation, the celebrity as sacred figure is a poorly defined entity in Fandom as Religion literature (see Doss 1999; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After going bankrupt with his first cartoon company Laugh O Gram in 1922 Walt Disney moved to Hollywood, California to start over (Campbell, Martin, Fabos 456). Walt and his brother Roy created the Disney Brothers Cartoon studio in 1923 and they signed a contract with M.J. Winkler to produce a series of animated comedies which became known as the Alice Comedies (Walt Disney). In 1928 they debuted Steamboat Willie, an animated film with synchronized sound that features the character Mickey Mouse who would go on to become the world known icon for the Walt Disney Corporation (Walt Disney). The following year the brothers replaced their partnership with the creation of four companies: Walt Disney Production, Ltd.; Walt Disney Enterprises; Liled Realty and Investment Company; and the Disney Film Recording Company (Walt Disney). From a struggling cartoon studio the company grew and expanded to include motion pictures, documentaries, and television programs. The continued successes enabled Walt Disney Productions to make an initial public stock offering in 1940 (Walt Disney). Antibiotics contain compounds that are naturally produced by organisms to combat diseases caused by microbes. Discovery of penicillin by Sir Alexander Fleming became the first stepping stone of many new antibiotics of today s modern medicine. Antibiotics typically invade the very components that make up bacteria, such as cell walls and metabolic pathways (Sato et al., 2014). However, frequent mutations of bacteria cause today s strains to become more resistant. One of many ways which bacteria undergo mutation is through horizontal transfer of genes (Lindsay J.A., 2013). Polymyxin B is known to only be effective against Gram negative bacteria, which was consistent with the collected data. Gram positive effective antibiotics and protein synthesis inhibitors such as azithromycin and tetracycline were expected to be ineffective to Gram negative bacteria, along with DNA dependent RNA polymerase inhibitor such as rifampin. However, contrasting results were depicted after 48 hours of incubation at 37вЃ°C. The bacteria appeared to be susceptible to azithromycin when the bacteria were anticipated to be resistant. This discrepancy could be explained through the molecular mechanism of azithromycin. Azithromycin induces adenine methylation in the rRNA in the 50S ribosomal subunit, and past experiments have indicated that it has a higher affinity for the erythromycin binding site for the ribosome to cause azithromycin to be more susceptible in Gram negative bacteria (Retsema et al., 1987). In addition, a polypeptide inhibitor such as penicillin was anticipated to be susceptible to the Gram negative bacteria, but it was displayed to be resistant. Penicillin is known to be a ОІ lactam antibiotic consisting of ОІ lactam ring that inhibits the cell wall synthesis of Enterobacteriaceae. A prevalent mechanism for resistance to ОІ lactam antibiotic is hyperproduction of ОІ lactamase (Philippon et al., 2002). Moreover, it is proposed that bacteria are resistant to penicillin due to the formation of microbial colony biofilm (Thomson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They must also get 270 Electoral College votes to win. A candidate can become president if he gets at least 270 Electoral College votes and does not have the most popular votes. Many people do not like the Electoral college system for this reason. They feel the person with the most popular votes should win. Unfortunately for them, the Founding Fathers did not have much faith in the American people selecting the President. They believed the American people s political knowledge was limited so they were not qualified to elect their President. At a meeting of the Constitution Convention held on July 17, 1787, Delegate Mason stated A popular election, in this case, is radically vicious. The ignorance of the people would put it in the power of some one set of men dispersed the candidates. At the same convention on July 19, 1787, Delegate Gerry stated that The people are uninformed and would be misled by a few designing men. All school systems should include, in the required classes to take to receive a high school diploma, a local historyclass, so that the students may have a knowledge of the place where they live. Furthermore, local history in general needs to be cared about more. Like said before, the top level of prestige among historians is occupied by those who teach African or Asian history (Hicken 1). This prestige is also portrayed very well by Herb Block s political cartoon Except for Those of Us Who Are above It. Which, displays bureaucrats sitting on top of Washington above everyone else, with a caption Equal Justice Under Law. Which, shows that those of more important roles consider themselves better than the lower rules. All together, this shows that after people spend countless years in school and in the work force being a historian, they are studying the histories abroad and of more accomplishment, rather than their own with facts that have no meaning. Although, even major historians have hypocritically given themselves over to the study of some phase of history which, in the long run, amounted to only a minor aspect of a larger problem (Hicken 1). Yet, they ridicule local history and those who research it. These issues amongst historians are the major underlying issues when proposing the concept of a local history class. Some believe that the only difference is age. Others say it is the severity of the crime. It s obvious that when adults commit crimes, whether they are a misdemeanor offense or a felony, they pay for it. The confliction comes when a juvenile commits a crime. What exactly determines if they are tried as an adult or a juvenile? Does it vary by state to state? Are there federal laws that govern that debate? There have been cases where children have been tried in a court of law as an adult. So what exactly is the clear cut reason why juveniles are tired sometimes as adults, and other times as juveniles? So what exactly is a crime to begin with?
