Merchant Of Venice Character Analysis
Portia in The Merchant Of Venice, has been considered as one of the most perfectly developed female
protagonist. The heiress of Belmont represents the nexus of the play, as the quest for her hand creates
a motive for Bassanio to borrow money which initiated the bond plot and the ring plot. Furthermore
she manipulates the trial and resolves the bond episode and the ring episode. Portia is introduced in
the play as being a wealthy heiress whom many suitors try to court. Her significance and characteristic
in the play can be seen in her genuine love, her graciousness and her witty yet playful traits. She
further represents the comparison between Belmont and Venice, herself and shylock and most
importantly, love and self interest, one of the key themes in the play. Critics liked to compare Portia
with Shylock and the comparison brings out the salient traits of her character. One of them stated that
while Portia stand for everything bright, generous, and noble while Shylock represents wickedness
and evil .
The language used in the play suggests that money is a source of power and desire. The penniless
Bassanio feels inferior to Portia who is intelligent, noble and refined. Portia s speech, unlike a woman
in the Elizabethan era, seems to be heavily loaded with financial expressions. Her language reveals
how comfortable she is in the masculine, world and her unwillingness to leave it. Her speech also
demonstrates her intelligence and eloquence and seems to mock the existing social norms. Indeed
Portia has shown to be far from obedient to patriarchy. Portia s father had left a clause in his will that
the suitor will pick the correct casket to in order to marry her. Although she couldn t break the clause,
her intelligence serves her well in her pursuits of Bassanio as she manipulates the test for her own
purpose. It reveals the casket choosing event itself was a gimmick and rather Portia was controlling
the entire situation according to her will and treating her suitors as mere puppets. On the other hand,
while men around the world are vying for her attention, she is apparently considers herself as superior
and better position to judge men s masculinity. However her intolerance and hypocrisy is suggestive

Canadian Immigration Policy Essay
The history of Canadian immigration highlights that the immigration policies has been selective about
the immigrants coming to Canada. The basis of the choice of immigrants and corresponding policies
and laws were motivated and shaped by the political, social and economic position of Canada
throughout the decades. Through the historical records the Canadian immigration policies had been
heavily influenced by ethnicity, race and religion factors.
The most unconcealed act of discrimination of excluding immigrants on basis of their ethnicity was by
implementing the Chinese Immigration Act of 1885. The restrictions on Chinese immigrants were
placed until 1947.The immigration policies of 1906 and then 1910 became more restrictive in type of

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Essay
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is a well known autosomal recessive disorder and the vast majority,
approximately 95%, of cases are due to a deficiency of 21 alpha hydroxylase. The other common type
of CAH is caused by a deficiency of 11 beta hydroxylase. In both types of the disorder, the adrenal
gland is unable to produce sufficient amounts of cortisol and aldosterone. CAH is estimated to
manifest in 1 of every 15,000 live births. In the United States, the prevalence of the disorder is lower
in African American children in comparison to Caucasians. Moreover, the decreased synthesis of
cortisol results in diminished negative feedback of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ATCH) and over
secretion of ACTH. This pathological increase of ACTH in an attempt to increase serum cortisol
levels is prevented because of the lack of appropriate enzymes and actually results in increased

On the other hand, affected males present normally at birth with some showing signs of
hyperpigmentation of the scrotum or a large phallus. It is recommended that surgery on females with
ambiguous genitalia has the most positive outcomes between two and six months. Individuals with
CAH are also at higher risk of early pubertal development and short stature as adults. Additionally,
fertility rates in women with classic 21 alpha hydroxylase CAH are low, while most males with the
disorder are fertile as adults with a minority exhibiting evidence of Leydig cell failure and impaired
spermatogenesis. In patients with classic 21 alpha hydroxylase CAH there is an elevated serum 17
hydroxyprogesterone concentration of higher than 1200 ng/dL. In fact, most of the neonates found
with the disorder have serum concentrations of 17 hydroxyprogesterone that exceed 3500

Diversity In Canada
Diverse cultures has made Canada the best country for foreign immigrants. Canada made a huge
impact to the immigrants because the government accepted each of them to live in the country; which
gave them the opportunity to re build their lives and status again. Also, Canada has lots of
opportunities in terms of jobs and education. Everyone is welcome in Canada. People has diverse
cultures, ethnicity, and beliefs, but they are treated equally in Canada. They also do not discriminate
each other in terms of their colour, status, class, age, gender, work, and education level. Foreign
immigrants have come all over the world to come to Canada; to have a better life and see what Canada
can do for them in coming years. To begin with, Canada is known ... Show more content on

Aboriginal people during the 1900s were struggling because government of Canada took away their
legal rights and ownership from their homeland. They have suffered from many discrimination, for
instance, children were forced to go to residential school and they were not allowed to speak their own
language. Also, government did not give them any proper health care and medication; causing the
children to die at very young age. Another reason is that when the Europeans bought their land, they
promised to give Aboriginal people the rights to go for hunting and fishing, but they did not keep their
promised to keep Aboriginal legal rights from their land. Additionally, they had two different
government to rule Aboriginal people from the north and south. Basically, in the north, they had the
accurate rights for the Aboriginal people, but in the south, federal government was treating Aboriginal
people inappropriately; slowly claiming their homeland.
The second issue that the Aboriginal people were facing was the ethno cultural groups that came to
Canada from different countries across the globe. Since Asians, Ukrainians, Finns, and Norwegians
came to Canada, the government have somehow forgotten the Aboriginal people. The government of
Canada was focused on the immigration; landing many job opportunities from the people that came
from different countries, but unfortunately, Aboriginal people were having so

Huck Finn Religious Hypocrisy Analysis
In the Adventure of Huckleberry Finn Mark Twain uses satire to exemplify human weakness.
Throughout the whole adventure, and even before departing from St. Petersburg, Huck comes face to
face with a variety of people meant to deride the American person. Religious hypocrisy and its
representation in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn establish one of Mark Twain s greatest allegations
with the American civilization. A prominent example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the Watson
sisters, Widow Douglas and Miss Watson. Very quickly Huck observes that each sister represents a
different version of the good place. Both sisters ardently try to civilize Huck and teach him good
religious values. Huck tells the reader that, Sometimes the widow would take me one side and talk
about Providence in a way to make a body s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Huck is able to observe this because religious hypocrisy around him is increasing as does his
awareness of it. He is describing how he gets two different viewpoints of heaven from each sister, and
it confuses him. Huck is not able to truly learn about the greatness of heaven and Christianity because
the sisters contradict and that is not something he wants to follow. Huck quickly decides both places
seem undesirable to him. This quote about the sisters shows Twain s distaste for the hypocritical
religious people during this time. He demonstrated people contradicting themselves, as well as saying
one thing and then doing another. Another example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the feuding
families. The Grangerfords and Sheperdsons have been in a feud for 30 years, and cannot even
remembered why it started. The hypocrisy here is seen in the faithfulness of local congregations. Huck
states that, [T]he men took their guns between their knees while they were attending church listening
to sermons on brotherly love (Twain 114). This again causes damage to Huck s outlook on religion.
These two families

The Patterns Of Segregation In Major League Baseball
Another avenue that can be discussed in the sport that is being managed and why it may be harder for
minorities to take over. A look in Major League Baseball, shows that baseball is America s pastime.
With the sport being a white dominated sport by leadership, it s harder for minorities to integrate into
leadership roles. Sack, Singh Thiel (2005) suggests, there is reason to believe that positional
segregation by race and ethnicity, or stacking, does have an indirect, disparate negative impact on
minorities. There are patterns of segregation in the sport of baseball and it continues since everyone
that is brought into the professional baseball world are actually playing the sport and not owning the
team. . Sack, Singh Thiel (2005) noted,

Ancient Egyptian Royalty And The Pantheon Of Gods Essay
When asked to describe Ancient Egypt, many will speak of towering pyramids, glittering
sarcophaguses, and fist sized scarab pendants. However, the image of Ancient Egypt that most have
learned has one glaring flaw: it inordinately focuses on the lives of the social elite. The descriptions
given seldom mention the stories of merchants, artisans, or slaves; they are solely focused on
exploring the lives of the Egyptian royalty and the pantheon of gods that they worshipped. The social
disparity in the study of Ancient Egypt is not the fault of professors, textbooks, or the field of
education in general; rather, it is indicative of the deep social divides which were omnipresent in
Egyptian society from its initiation. In Western Civilizations: Volume One, the authors confirm the
rigid socioeconomic class system of this era: The social pyramid of Old Kingdom Egypt was
extremely steep. At its apex stood the Pharaoh and his extended family, whose prestige and power set
them entirely apart from all other Egyptians. This strict social structure pursued the Egyptian
consciousness, even in death. The Book of the Dead, a collection of spells and incantations to aid a
deceased person through the afterlife, contains ample evidence that social class followed Egyptian
citizens past their mortal existence. In my brief study of Ancient Egypt, I have found evidence in The
Book of the Dead to support the claims made by Dr. Symes that Ancient Egyptian society followed a
strict social caste

The Marketing Of Wal Mart
The Good The traditional Wal Mart is the one that all consumers have come to know and love in their
communities. What is the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of Wal Mart? One stop
shopping, a place where a consumer can get it all, clothes, food, shoes, and electronics. The list is vast
because Wal Mart carries many types of items. Wal mart has the items and the pricing is reasonable.
The local Wal mart is also convenient because they are twenty four hours, seven days a week and open
on holidays. The lights are continuously on at Wal Mart. It meets the fast pace of society because of
the one stop experience. Hence, this is the reason competitors refer to them as monopolist because
they dominate every aspect of shopping in the experience. Furthermore, they have built a reputation
for catering to their customers through their strategic marketing plans like price matching, layaway
and more. The Bad Wal Mart has many positives but what about their negative aspects. One might
ask, what could possibly be negative about Wal Mart? Some consumers do not equate bigger to better.
The large size can hinder the concept of it being a quick stop and shop experience. The convenience of
them carrying many items can become an issue when the consumer is looking to run and get out
quickly. In most cases, it just does not happen. The large assortment of items can cause consumers to
buy more compulsively, which can be a drawback for entering the store. Personal

The Last Battle, by C.S Lewis, begins with a donkey named Puzzle and his ape friend named Shift. It
was decided that Shift shall make all of the decisions since Puzzle is convinced he is not clever
enough. Shift basically has complete control over Puzzle and can manipulate him into doing anything.
While they were walking by the Caldron Pool, they saw a lion s skin in the water. Shift assures Puzzle

of Narnia into believing that Puzzle is Aslan. Shift uses this opportunity to get all of Narnia to obey

Essay on Hell s Kitchen and the Capeman Murder
Hell s Kitchen and the Capeman Murder
Hell s Kitchen is the section of Manhattan that is between 34th and 59th Streets and from 8th Avenue
to the Hudson River. It was the home of New York s most dangerous criminals from the early
tenement days to Prohibition to the Westies. The population consisted of poor people who lived in a
disorderly fashion and expressed themselves with a demanding spirit. Mayhem and reports of criminal
homicide from the late nineteenth century on supply a good idea of daily life in Hell s Kitchen. These
reports illustrate a neighborhood full of crime, poverty, religious worship, hard work and family
commitment. Vampires, Dragons, and Egyptian Kings divided by race, ethnicity, and neighborhood

Second, during the drafting of the Civil War there was a lot of chaos and many fatal riots against the
rich because they were able to buy there way out of the war, including the protest of the Conscription
Act. Differences in the beliefs of these people led to a segregated community and the creation of gangs
had begun. The first neighborhood gangs were formed by the massive amount of children (often
referred to as sea urchins) that became homeless after the Civil War. The Dutch Heinrichs led the 19th
Street Gang and it was known as one of the most infamous cliques around. They commanded tribute
from factory owners and merchants, they broke into houses and they abused and robbed strangers. The
gang s leader Dutch Heinricks was incarcerated after attacking a police Captain. Thereafter came the
Gophers, who were targeted for arrest after the slaying of a man named William Lennon in a bar at
45th Street and 11th Avenue, and the Dead Rabbits who lived in the filthy tenements west of 7th
Avenue in the 20 s and 30 s. By the 1900 s, 36th Street to 59th Street west of 9th Avenue became an
area of dirty tenements and factories forming a depressing and dark neighborhood that carried out the
nature of slum life. The murder rate (often committed by gang members) in this section of the city
continuously multiplied. The practices of the local criminal and the Westies gang in the middle of the

The United States Illogical Practice of Democratic Peace...
The idea of a lasting, ideally global, peace has been present in the minds of people for centuries. The
most notable formulation of this is Kant s vision of perpetual peace. He saw it as a condition that
needed to be maintained by politics between states with governments which represented society and
separation of power. From this basic framework stems the idea called democratic peace theory (pg.
82). Democratic Peace Theory (DPT) asserts that democracies do not generally fight other
democracies because they share common norms and domestic institutions that constrain international,
state actors from going to war. Sebastian Rosato states, In practical terms democratic peace theory
provides the intellectual justification for the belief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The normative side of the theory, while powerful, can be a double edged sword. Implementing the
normative side theory can be dangerous according to an individuals or groups subjective
interpretation. The idea of global peace and security is so seductive that normative logic can be used to
justify war. Woodrow Wilson, a firm believer in Kant s ideas, told Congress, The world must be made
safe for democracy when asking it to declare war on Germany. Furthermore, the justification for war
in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003, allowed George W. Bush and Tony Blair to state they are
bringing democracy to Afghanistan (pg. 20).Subjective interpretation of what democracy is can be
used to validate aggression.
Institutional Logic Institutional logic states, Democratic institutions and processes make leaders
accountable to a wide range of social groups that may, in a variety of circumstances, oppose war
(Rosato, pg. 587). The accountability of political elites wanting to stay in office means they must be
ready to discredit unpopular policies and align themselves with other elites who share the same
interests. Democratic states also allow for freedom of speech and a supposedly transparent political
process, meaning the mass public can monitor and rate the government s performance holding these
leaders accountable. However, Roasto states, because they are conscious of their

The Murder Of The United Colonies Of America
Hello. I am supposed to be dead, I am not and I have no idea why. I woke up in a hotel room without
any memory. Then I looked at a television and almost had a heart attack. I was wanted for murder. The
murder of the President of the United Colonies of America(UCA. That also includes The United
States). He was giving a speech and was shot by a sniper. Me.
Apparently, when they saw where the bullet came from, they rushed to check it out and they saw an
M24 on the ground. It had three bullets missing and my fingerprints all over it. They said it could only
be a trained hitman or a UCA Marine. They say I was both.
I can t remember anything, not even my name. But I have two memories. One was being thrown from
an F2 tornado. It threw me about a mile. I was lucky that I landed on my right arm. I m left handed. I
had been taken to the hospital and they had me drink a serum that healed my bone completely. The

Disadvantages Of Antitrust Law
Chief Justice Roberts stated courts in the U.S. have historically granted injunctions upon a finding of
infringement since the 19th century. The Antitrust Division in the U.S. also admits a patent owner s
rights to exclude are similar to the rights enjoyed by owners of other forms of private property in the
Antitrust Guidelines for the Licensing of Intellectual Property. Therefore, as a fundamental principle,
antitrust law does not generally prohibit the holder of any other property right from seeking an
injunction to vindicate that right. The FTC has the right to regulate unfair methods of competition and
unfair or deceptive acts or practices under Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. During the
past two decades, the FTC has been heavily involved in several high profile SEP disputes, including
Dell Computer Corp., N Data, Rambus Inc. v. FTC, Motorola Mobility, and Bosch GmbH. The FTC
generally invokes competition law as a basis for investigation over these cases under Section 2 of the
Sherman Act and Section 7 of the Clayton Act. The particular concern ... Show more content on

These consent agreements mostly impose strict requirements for an SEP holder to seek injunctive
relief. For example, in Bosch GmbH, the FTC dictated that Bosch GmbH can only seek injunctions
against an unwilling licensee. The unwilling licensee shows unwillingness by refusing to accept the
SEP holder s offer of a license on F/RAND terms, or a court s determination. In Motorola Mobility,
the order prohibits Google/Motorola from making any future claims for injunctions over a F/RAND
Patent against a potential licensee. This unwilling licensee similarly should refuse (1) a F/RAND offer
either in writing or in sworn testimony, (2) a court order, (3) a binding arbitration determined F/RAND

Aung San Suu Kyi influenced the people of Myanmar or Burma, which is East of India. The People of

The Importance Of The Government
Throughout history, government has been criticized and called out for it s inability to do it s job of
protecting its people properly. People see the government as power hungry, cold, and corrupt. This is
evident throughout time when the people are discontent with their government. Henry David Thoreau
once said, That government is best which governs least. Henry David Thoreau lived two hundred
years ago, but his statement is still relevant today. I neither disagree or agree with his statement. Both
forms of government has it s flaws and benefits and I feel it s dangerous to only agree with one side.
The government should not be intertwined with the lives of the citizens but the government should not
have a hands off approach either. I believe the government should be a balance of the hands off
approach and the government that utilizes it s power. I believe that a government that does not use it s
power is wrong because it would slow down humanity and leave the country s citizens vulnerable.
Without a strong government, advances in science and medicine would slow down completely
(Figurative language, hyperbole). NASA would cease to exist and many government backed science
programs would be lost. This would mean a considerable loss in human advancement. A government
where it uses it s power can be strong because it unites many to solve one problem. A government has
the power to make changes that a private company may not have the funds or authority to do. Another

Emotional Intelligence And Effective Leadership
Emotional Intelligence and Effective Leadership Emotional intelligence is defined as the ability
necessary to identify, assess and control the emotions of oneself, other people or entire groups (May,
2013). It means having the skills to control one s emotions, as well as to read the room or interpret the
moods and emotions of others with whom one is interacting. As a leader this is invaluable, since it is
important to maximize the potential of one s staff. Getting along with others is a key ability of leaders,
and having and using emotional intelligence allows a leader to manipulate the situation to encourage
people to like you more. Using emotional intelligence offers leaders that chance to be viewed as more

It is the old saying, is the glass half empty or half full.
A second example, occurred at work when I had a phone call delivering terrible news of a personal
nature. Instead of letting this news impact my behavior and taking out my frustrations on my staff, I
worked to remain positive and approachable. This enabled the department to work productively for the
rest of the afternoon, rather than have work disrupted due to a poor attitude (mine) and the response to
that attitude.
EQ vs. IQ
Emotional intelligence taps into a fundamental element of human behavior that is distinct from your
intellect. Intelligence is simply your ability to learn, and it s the same at any age (Bradberry, 2014).
However, Emotional intelligence is a flexible set of skills that can be acquired and improved with
practice. One can further develop their level of emotional intelligence over time, and don t necessarily
have to be born with it.
There is no known connection between IQ and emotional intelligence; you simply can t predict
emotional intelligence based on how smart someone is (Bradberry, 2014).
Your emotional intelligence is the foundation for a host of critical skills it impacts most everything
you say and do each day (Bradberry, 2014). Emotional intelligence is the single biggest predictor of
performance in the workplace and the strongest driver of leadership and personal excellence
(Bradberry, 2014).

Effect of The Immersion of Manga
A Brief Take on Comic Books Counterpart.
Are you an Otaku? A growing group of people, united, fans of Anime and Manga all over the world
call themselves this name, but how did this craze begin?
What is Manga s appeal?
Manga is a Japanese graphic novel, known most commonly to be similar to traditional Comic Books
from the US. The differences lie in the art styles, genre and reading ways. Unlike the comic books
featuring superheroes, Japanese Manga focuses on issues from psychological insights to school life
and historical stories. Manga also has a very different feel from Comic Books due to the natural
shading and black and white themes. Although Manga is now available in many bookstores all over
the world, the transition from Manga being exotic to a common reading material took a long time and
three major steps until it became inspiration to people outside of Japan.

differences set areas apart, the Japanese language and ways may seem new or exotic. Additionally this

Despite the common English backgrounds, societies in the New England and Chesapeake regions of
Colonial America had split off into two incredibly different cultures: A very religiously focused New
England and the more economic oriented Chesapeake. Because these regions were settled for different
purposes, the development of these societies led to the distinctions between them. One of the major
causes for emigration from England to North America was religious persecution. Religious tolerance
in Britain for other Christian sects besides the Anglican church was virtually nonexistent, resulting in
many members of other sects to seek religious haven in the colonies. The vast majority of immigrants

Contrary to the pilgrims of New England, those who settled in the Chesapeake area colonized the
region for more economic purposes. Many people who settled in the Chesapeake were down on their

couldn t be much worse than the conditions they faced back in England. Most received their tickets to
America through indentured servitude, paying for their trip with a few years of free labor for a

indentured servants who had no land or property of their own once their work contracts expired.
Because the land westward was populated by Natives and therefore almost impossible to acquire, the
dissenters focused against the rich and powerful members of the colonies. The successful uprising led
to reforms such as work regulations explained in Document E, as well a shift away from indentured
servitude and towards slavery of blacks. Other settlers besides indentured servants were aspiring
traders and gold hunters mentioned in Document F. While traders had little success early on and

Is Chivalry Needed in High School? More than a code of manners in war and love, Chivalry was a
moral system, governing the whole of noble life. This quote by Barbara Tuchman explains the
standard used during the medieval period when people followed moral principles to live a noble life.
The medieval period, which took place from the fifth to the fifteenth century, is well known for
chivalry and noble life. The chivalry code is a code of conduct, or a code of manners, that required
knights to conduct themselves in a manner worthy of their high calling. This code, mainly pertaining
to knights, appears in any King Arthur or similar knightly story. Even though the chivalry code was

The Man Of The River
The Man in the River As I reach the middle of the pedestrian crossing on the east side of Wayne

chest against it as I hang my head down towards the North Saskatchewan. My shoulders feel the heat
of summer in the black shirt I stupidly decided to wear. There wasn t a cloud in the sky on this sunny
day as the sky gave a bluer than usual tinge to the otherwise murky waters. The wind blew humid and
strong, creating lively chop as the river flowed. After a few seconds I back off the railing as the heat of
the metal becomes too intense, and I focus my attention to the miniature island just offshore from the
river valley. It had been so mysterious and interesting every time I glance at it, and every time the
island would remind me of John. Whenever I would go on river valley walks with my mom or dad, I
would see the island peering through the rows of trees, but they would never want to go. I remember
one walk where John came with us as I finally got my opportunity to explore the island. John was my
dad s best friend from childhood, growing up in a tough neighborhood made each of them gritty. They
went to high school at Victoria comp, loved sports and because of their background, inevitably got
into scraps. However that same background also gave them high aspirations for their educations as
they both attended the University of Alberta. Although they were in different faculties my

can also be disadvantageous because it can and will cause laziness because with more freedom the

Mahatma Gandhi Philosophy
During the period of British colonies in India, Mahatma Gandhi (1869 1948) led his community to
protest against its harsh policies. Gandhi played an important role as a political figure and primarily as
a social reformer in political movements. The Father of the Nation established and employed his
philosophy including satyagraha, swaraj, and ashima in Indian nonviolent civil disobedience. In this
period, Gandhi s decision to be celibate and to adopt Bramacharya was consistent with his political
philosophy.
While Gandhi was well known as a political leader, he was primarily a social reformer. Through
power of a political figure, he could reform Indian society. First reason, his philosophy originated
from his childhood. It matured gradually until he took political activities at his middle age. In his

later commitment as a political activist to the emancipation of women (6). At age of eighteen, he learnt
to be tolerant of other religions. The syncretic spirit of Hinduism helped him to define religion...in its

Estrogen and progesterone contraceptives
Estrogen and progesterone contraceptives can prevent pregnancy by:
Stopping the release of an egg (ovulation).
Thickening the mucus of the cervix, making it difficult for sperm to enter the uterus.
Changing the lining of the uterus. This change makes it more difficult for an egg to implant.

Alex shows this theme through his decisions in the book. At the beginning of the book he only cared
about himself but as he is alone for awhile and then meets Darla he seems to care more for other
people he meets, than for himself. He gives more then he gets. He gave little Katie s family food and
was there for them when she died. Darla started making decisions like an adult even when her mother
was alive. She made food and harvested corn. Darla grew up quickly when they were still on the farm.
Alex and Darla grew up when they were with one another. They cared for eachother almost as if they
were married. They cooked and traveled well and didn t let little things bother them. Also after Alex
killed multiple people he almost became not as soft as he was. He grew up a lot through killing
multiple people, after this he seemed not as afraid to stand up for himself and Darla. In Ashfall, these
themes were represented through the characters words and actions. Alex, Darla, and other characters
showed that love, family, and survival conquer everything through hard situations. Mike Mullin
represented these themes well throughout the book. All in all, Alex made it through all hard times with
love, family, and survival pushing him to make it to

and decisions, but more towards Daru and the duties he had to fufill as he was the host. 5. This story
has as its background a specific political situation the French Algerian crisis in the years following
World War II. How does Daru reflect France s plight? Is the story s meaning limited to this situation?
What does the story tell us about good and evil and the nature of moral choice?
In the short story The Guest by Albert Camus, Daru s predicament goes hand in hand with France s
difficulties and Camus self appreciation. In the short story The Guest we are introduced to see Daru s
concern to attend the political situation in the French North

The Significance of Liberal Reforms between 1906-1910 Essay
The Significance of Liberal Reforms between 1906 1910 After the Liberal government came into
power due to a landslide victory. When they came to power the Liberals knew there was great need for
reform. They knew this change was really required to help and improve Britain and as a whole, make
it a better country. There were many parts of Britain that were in very poor condition (in poverty). To
eliminate this factor that had plagued Britain the Liberals introduced many reforms between 1906
1910. Each of these had specific aims. They were mainly directing these towards the working class
people. One of the crucial targets of the reforms was the children of Britain. They knew that the
children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This meant that they were coming out harder criminals than when they went in. As the liberals had
become aware of this they set up Borstals where only children were allowed to be imprisoned. Within
these Borstals the children were educated. The intention of this was that these children would grow up
as respectable adults with high morals. Out of the reforms introduced for children this seemed to deem
the most successful, even though children were still put into adult prisons when the Borstals become
to full (again the government didn t have enough money to introduced many of these Borstals). The
Liberals knew it was not just the children who needed aid in Britain. It was also people too old to
work. The elderly. Booth and Rowntree s survey into poverty revealed that the majority of the elderly
were being forced to work in workhouses when it was no longer possible for them to work for any one
else. In 1908 the Old Age Pensions Act was introduced. This had great significance as it freed the
pensioners from the fear of the workhouse. Once more as the government were struggling to find
enough money to properly fund this, it was a mere 5 shillings that was supplied to only pensioners
over 70. These five shillings were only just enough to survive and as pensioners were only given to
people over 70, there were be many pensioners that had to work when almost physically

Technology Impact On Lifestyle
Technology: The Impact on Health and Lifestyle
Many people these days tend to shy from person to person conversations. Why? Because of
technology, people these days lack the experience and courage to speak to each other without being
timid or awkward. It has become a normal habit in our society to communicate through phones and
laptops. Day by day, our generation is slowly developing a horrible future by losing social skills.
Majority of of the current generation believe that internet is important and that we need technology to
communicate. Also, humans believe that living a healthy life is important. Who knew that spending
too much time with technology is causing human health to fade? Technology could possibly kill us or
harm our health in numerous unspeakable ways. Something as simple as holding a phone, texting,
watching T.V, or playing video games can have a significant effect on our health. Electronical devices
start as far back as 1835 when Joseph Henry, who was an American scientist, created the first
electronical remote device. Joseph created a remote switch that was used as part of a telegraph. Henry
s remote idea was later used for improving telephones. Electronics were first invented to help people
communicate and/or improve their everyday lives. They were meant to enhance people s lives by
making life easier. These days, those factors have been replaced from being helpful to being used for
personal pleasure. Now, people are using electronic devices in improper

A Comparison Of Shrek And Siddhartha
Siddhartha and Shrek contain similarities as mono myths; however the story of Shrek is the more
creative work of the two. Both stories are good examples of mono myths, but the appeal of each story
is very different. The audience reading Siddhartha and the audience watching Shrek are most likely
polar opposites. Siddhartha s audience is probably more adults and religiously based. Shrek s audience
is probably more children and family friendly.
Siddhartha is a spiritual and religious novel that is intended to teach the reader about how
Enlightenment may be achieved. The story line follows Siddhartha through his journey to find
Enlightenment for himself. Siddhartha is the son of a wealthy Brahmin. Siddhartha learns the ways of
the Brahmin but he soon sees that the Brahmin are continually in the process of learning. No Brahmin

realizes that the way to Enlightenment wasn t through the teaching of the Brahmin. Siddhartha knows
that he must seek to find his own way to Nirvana. Siddhartha s tests are going against his father s
wishes, joining the Samanas for 3 years, trying to learn from Buddha, losing Govinda s
companionship, experiencing an awakening in nature, meeting Kamala, learning how to be a merchant
from Kamaswami, becoming almost suicidal, switching to a journey of spirit, learning from the
ferryman, and dealing with fatherhood. Siddhartha s helpers are Govinda, Vasudeva, Kamala, and the
river. The climax is when Siddhartha realizes that he has managed to leave the self . Siddhartha s flight
is entering the journey of the spirit. Siddhartha s return is when he returned to the river and sought the

Technology Has An Important Asset Nowadays
Technology has been an important asset nowadays, people use it to improve their way of living.
Therefore, many people use technology for many reason. For example; transportation,
communication, education, hospitality, games, design, bank, booking, and payment system. In
Indonesia, the number of internet user is increasing according to a statistical analysis (Lim, 2003). The
user of internet was less than 1 percent in 1998.
Now internet transformed into an advancement mode of communication. The barrier that prevented
people to get any kind of information they wanted is no longer exist. People can access and get almost
of any information from the internet. People do not need to go somewhere else to get any kind of

Online Tax
The government of DKI Jakarta change the old tax payment system with the new online tax payment
system. The system allows both assessment and official kind of tax payment available in DKI Jakarta
via online; Income, Salary, Hotels Restaurants, Companies, Land Buildings, cars, etc. There are many
big cities all over the world that been using this system and succeed; New York, Singapore, and
Chicago. Therefore, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, tries to implement it here
in DKI Jakarta. The tax services which includes Registration, Implementation, Payment, as well as
Confirmation are main functions that can be found in the new Online Tax System. One of the method
of using Information Technology in Tax Payment is through the Tax Payment Web Portal. It is about
time as the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta provides an accessible and complete user friendly Tax
Payment Web Portal. With the increase of intensive internet usage, citizens residing in Jakarta has
opened up new possibilities to increase tax services in the name of information Technology. Moreover,
with the recent use of Information Technology, real life interactions between customers and employees

Real Estate Data Set
This task involves trying to give an educated guess on a linear regression model for pricing real estate
using a real facts date set using numbers and facts. Normally two approaches are used for valuing a
real estate property: income and sales comparison. The sales assessment approach values a real estate
property based on sale prices of similar properties. In this case the properties with familiar
individuality are basically on the same price level, it would be typical to use a linear regression model
to complete this demonstration. Our team will examine the significance of numerous independent
variables to a real estate value. Two important strategies to regression testing is to run all test, and run
a subset of the test based on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The correlation is 41% between Bdrm and Size. We have concluded that there is no problem of
multicollinearity in the data. We also found that Price and Size have relatively large scales compared
with other variables. So it is natural to consider the logarithmic form of these two variables. We will
run a new regression in which the regressor is log (price) and the regressand Size is replaced by its
logarithm log (size). The R squared of this new model is around 60%, even a little lower than the
original model. The statistical significance of other independent variables keeps almost unaffected.
The analysis of coefficients in this model with logarithms is not intuitive. So we still stick to the
reduced linear model estimated in (a). We analyzed the OLS residuals to check for possible
heteroskedasticity for a cross sectional data set. We computed the fitted values of Price and OLS
residuals in our model. Then residuals are sorted by fitted values of Price, and a scatter diagram of
residuals is plotted against the fitted values in Figure 2. It is observed that all points are fairly scattered
and there is no obvious pattern for the dependence of the residuals on the fitted values. We conclude
that a linear model with homoskedastic errors is satisfactory for this data set. We evaluated the validity
of this linear regression model by checking the accuracy of its prediction. The linear model is
estimated by using 100 out of 105

Analysis Of Peter Singer s Argument On Famine, Affluence,...
I m a strong believer in that anyone can make their own choices in life. There is no such thing as
moral obligation in my books, however there does exist courtesy or kind heartedness. Peter Singer s
argument regarding famine, affluence, and morality is, in my opinion, strongly influenced by
sympathetic and empathetic feelings based on observations in a still developing country. In a sense,
his reasoning is subjective and biased because he seems to focus only on the problem, and not the
circumstances that could have prevented such problems from the beginning. I will elaborate on some
of the loopholes in his arguments, and further clarify why the more fortunate people (in terms of
wealth) should NOT be morally obligated to help the poor, rather they should have the choice of being
courteous or kind, and they should have the freedom to spend the money they worked so hard for
according to their own agenda. To start, I would like to establish that suffering and death from lack of
food and other necessities is indeed a bad thing. There is no counter argument to that statement.
However, the problem lies in the second and third premises, which states that (2) if it is in our power
to prevent something bad from happening, then we have a moral duty to do it; (3) therefore, we have a
moral duty to help the poor. According to Singer, the second premise is comprised of a strong and
weak argument. The strong argument states that the wealthy people should help the poor people at a

Corinthian Religion
The church that Paul had established in Corinth was all sorts of controversies and divisions such as
division among themselves, lawsuits before unbelievers, moral disorders etc... Paul addressed the
Corinthian believers but also it seems his letter is relevant to all followers of Christ up to this date. I
therefore would like to choose one issue which is moral disorder sexual immorality happened in
Corinth. Besides other issues, Paul also had to deal with the problem of sexual immorality (1Cor. 6:12
20). Clearly that some of the Corinthians were going to prostitutes. It seems like the Corinthians
wanted to justify themselves in saying, Food for the stomach and the stomach for food (6:13) or just
simply say when you are hungry, you eat. However, in regarding to this, Paul addressed that the body
is the members of Christ (6:15) and the temple of the Holy Spirit (6:19); not to be used for immorality,
but for the Lord (6:13). He also argued that For the two, it says, will become one flesh (6:16). This
implied to the human marriage where the love of husband and wife reflect the love of Christ for his
Church. No one is allowing separating them. Also, he asserted that our bodies no longer belong to us
but to Christ. Then we should not do anything to harm them for if we are united to prostitutes are
actually harmful to the body.
** Now a day, we all admit that our society is somewhat has sexuality disorder in terms of premarital
sexual, sexual active, living together before marry. I believe we are dealing with this issue with our
students, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Are Worse Than Other Sports Injuries
Some sports injuries, are worse than others Are athletes protected enough in sports? Even though in
some sports, athletes wear pads for protection. Some sports require more pads than others do. Not all
athletes feel safe in their own sport. Some athletes are more prone to injury in other sports. The
injuries players face in football are awful. It s a high risk sport. Players of the sport retire so early from
the NFL because of the massive hits. It really takes a toll to their body. Some players retire by thirty
years old for reasons like injuries. ACL/MCL tears are the most common injury that is actually
serious. Some players in this sport are too big to tackle in their upper body, so they get tackled in their
lower body, like their knees. This is one cause of ACL/MCL ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I play for Memorial so I can say, it is a risky sport. I love it, and there are lots injuries that can happen
though. Hits, blocking shots, constantly being hit by sticks; all of these can cause some form of injury.
Players face lots of bruises, but some of these can cause a more serious, long term injury such as knee,
elbow and hand injuries. Basketball can be high risk. I ve seen some very graphic injuries from
watching a basketball game. All sports have some sort of injury possibility, but this oe would
definitely be on the bottom of the rest. Main injuries are ankle sprains, jammed fingers, or some of the
possible more severe injuries include knee injuries. My experience with injuries aren t a whole lot,
because I would like to say I don t put myself into situation to get hurt a whole lot. I have faced a lot
of bruises in lacrosse and they hurt, but they eventually go away. I have been in a lot of pain after a
few slashes to my hand, I came out right away because of the pain. I hung in there and finished and it
eventually went away. I ve never broken a bone, and I have never gotten hurt to the point where I won

Primrose Oil Supplements Research Paper
The benefits of evening primrose oil supplements are something I have taken for my health for several
years now. I first found out about taking this supplement in my early 20 s. I read an article in a trashy
magazine one day on EPO for larger breasts. It said, taking evening primrose oil (EPO) for a time will
help improve bust size. As I was a small busted woman and yearned for the day my breasts would just
naturally enlarge on their own. I, of course, bolted out the door to buy my first bottle (1). Did my
breasts enlarge? Sadly no, they did not, fortunately with age comes acceptance of one s body and
despite the fact my breasts did not grow bigger. I do continue to this day to take EPO. The benefits of
evening primrose oil and fenugreek are two supplements often marketed as being able to increase
breast growth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

its ability to help fight cancer, heart disease and help the body fight production of chemicals that cause
inflammation. Once again, no proof.benefits of evening primrose Women who suffer from

  • 2. Merchant Of Venice Character Analysis Portia in The Merchant Of Venice, has been considered as one of the most perfectly developed female protagonist. The heiress of Belmont represents the nexus of the play, as the quest for her hand creates a motive for Bassanio to borrow money which initiated the bond plot and the ring plot. Furthermore she manipulates the trial and resolves the bond episode and the ring episode. Portia is introduced in the play as being a wealthy heiress whom many suitors try to court. Her significance and characteristic in the play can be seen in her genuine love, her graciousness and her witty yet playful traits. She further represents the comparison between Belmont and Venice, herself and shylock and most importantly, love and self interest, one of the key themes in the play. Critics liked to compare Portia with Shylock and the comparison brings out the salient traits of her character. One of them stated that while Portia stand for everything bright, generous, and noble while Shylock represents wickedness and evil . The language used in the play suggests that money is a source of power and desire. The penniless Bassanio feels inferior to Portia who is intelligent, noble and refined. Portia s speech, unlike a woman in the Elizabethan era, seems to be heavily loaded with financial expressions. Her language reveals how comfortable she is in the masculine, world and her unwillingness to leave it. Her speech also demonstrates her intelligence and eloquence and seems to mock the existing social norms. Indeed Portia has shown to be far from obedient to patriarchy. Portia s father had left a clause in his will that the suitor will pick the correct casket to in order to marry her. Although she couldn t break the clause, her intelligence serves her well in her pursuits of Bassanio as she manipulates the test for her own purpose. It reveals the casket choosing event itself was a gimmick and rather Portia was controlling the entire situation according to her will and treating her suitors as mere puppets. On the other hand, while men around the world are vying for her attention, she is apparently considers herself as superior and better position to judge men s masculinity. However her intolerance and hypocrisy is suggestive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Essay Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is a well known autosomal recessive disorder and the vast majority, approximately 95%, of cases are due to a deficiency of 21 alpha hydroxylase. The other common type of CAH is caused by a deficiency of 11 beta hydroxylase. In both types of the disorder, the adrenal gland is unable to produce sufficient amounts of cortisol and aldosterone. CAH is estimated to manifest in 1 of every 15,000 live births. In the United States, the prevalence of the disorder is lower in African American children in comparison to Caucasians. Moreover, the decreased synthesis of cortisol results in diminished negative feedback of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ATCH) and over secretion of ACTH. This pathological increase of ACTH in an attempt to increase serum cortisol levels is prevented because of the lack of appropriate enzymes and actually results in increased androgen ... Canada made a huge impact to the immigrants because the government accepted each of them to live in the country; which gave them the opportunity to re build their lives and status again. Also, Canada has lots of opportunities in terms of jobs and education. Everyone is welcome in Canada. People has diverse cultures, ethnicity, and beliefs, but they are treated equally in Canada. They also do not discriminate each other in terms of their colour, status, class, age, gender, work, and education level. They have suffered from many discrimination, for instance, children were forced to go to residential school and they were not allowed to speak their own language. Also, government did not give them any proper health care and medication; causing the children to die at very young age. Another reason is that when the Europeans bought their land, they promised to give Aboriginal people the rights to go for hunting and fishing, but they did not keep their promised to keep Aboriginal legal rights from their land. Additionally, they had two different government to rule Aboriginal people from the north and south. Basically, in the north, they had the accurate rights for the Aboriginal people, but in the south, federal government was treating Aboriginal people inappropriately; slowly claiming their homeland. The second issue that the Aboriginal people were facing was the ethno cultural groups that came to Canada from different countries across the globe. Since Asians, Ukrainians, Finns, and Norwegians came to Canada, the government have somehow forgotten the Aboriginal people. • 7. Huck Finn Religious Hypocrisy Analysis In the Adventure of Huckleberry Finn Mark Twain uses satire to exemplify human weakness. Throughout the whole adventure, and even before departing from St. Petersburg, Huck comes face to face with a variety of people meant to deride the American person. Religious hypocrisy and its representation in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn establish one of Mark Twain s greatest allegations with the American civilization. A prominent example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the Watson sisters, Widow Douglas and Miss Watson. Very quickly Huck observes that each sister represents a different version of the good place. Both sisters ardently try to civilize Huck and teach him good religious values. Huck tells the reader that, Sometimes the widow would take me one side and talk about Providence in a way to make a body s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Huck is able to observe this because religious hypocrisy around him is increasing as does his awareness of it. He is describing how he gets two different viewpoints of heaven from each sister, and it confuses him. Huck is not able to truly learn about the greatness of heaven and Christianity because the sisters contradict and that is not something he wants to follow. Huck quickly decides both places seem undesirable to him. This quote about the sisters shows Twain s distaste for the hypocritical religious people during this time. He demonstrated people contradicting themselves, as well as saying one thing and then doing another. Another example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the feuding families. The Grangerfords and Sheperdsons have been in a feud for 30 years, and cannot even remembered why it started. The hypocrisy here is seen in the faithfulness of local congregations. Huck states that, [T]he men took their guns between their knees while they were attending church listening to sermons on brotherly love (Twain 114). This again causes damage to Huck s outlook on religion. These two families ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A look in Major League Baseball, shows that baseball is America s pastime. With the sport being a white dominated sport by leadership, it s harder for minorities to integrate into leadership roles. Sack, Singh Thiel (2005) suggests, there is reason to believe that positional segregation by race and ethnicity, or stacking, does have an indirect, disparate negative impact on minorities. • 10. Ancient Egyptian Royalty And The Pantheon Of Gods Essay When asked to describe Ancient Egypt, many will speak of towering pyramids, glittering sarcophaguses, and fist sized scarab pendants. However, the image of Ancient Egypt that most have learned has one glaring flaw: it inordinately focuses on the lives of the social elite. The descriptions given seldom mention the stories of merchants, artisans, or slaves; they are solely focused on exploring the lives of the Egyptian royalty and the pantheon of gods that they worshipped. The social disparity in the study of Ancient Egypt is not the fault of professors, textbooks, or the field of education in general; rather, it is indicative of the deep social divides which were omnipresent in Egyptian society from its initiation. In Western Civilizations: Volume One, the authors confirm the rigid socioeconomic class system of this era: The social pyramid of Old Kingdom Egypt was extremely steep. At its apex stood the Pharaoh and his extended family, whose prestige and power set them entirely apart from all other Egyptians. This strict social structure pursued the Egyptian consciousness, even in death. The Book of the Dead, a collection of spells and incantations to aid a deceased person through the afterlife, contains ample evidence that social class followed Egyptian citizens past their mortal existence. In my brief study of Ancient Egypt, I have found evidence in The Book of the Dead to support the claims made by Dr. Symes that Ancient Egyptian society followed a strict social caste ... What is the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of Wal Mart? One stop shopping, a place where a consumer can get it all, clothes, food, shoes, and electronics. The list is vast because Wal Mart carries many types of items. Wal mart has the items and the pricing is reasonable. The local Wal mart is also convenient because they are twenty four hours, seven days a week and open on holidays. The lights are continuously on at Wal Mart. • 15. The United States Illogical Practice of Democratic Peace... The idea of a lasting, ideally global, peace has been present in the minds of people for centuries. The most notable formulation of this is Kant s vision of perpetual peace. He saw it as a condition that needed to be maintained by politics between states with governments which represented society and separation of power. From this basic framework stems the idea called democratic peace theory (pg. 82). Democratic Peace Theory (DPT) asserts that democracies do not generally fight other democracies because they share common norms and domestic institutions that constrain international, state actors from going to war. Sebastian Rosato states, In practical terms democratic peace theory provides the intellectual justification for the belief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The normative side of the theory, while powerful, can be a double edged sword. Implementing the normative side theory can be dangerous according to an individuals or groups subjective interpretation. The idea of global peace and security is so seductive that normative logic can be used to justify war. Woodrow Wilson, a firm believer in Kant s ideas, told Congress, The world must be made safe for democracy when asking it to declare war on Germany. Furthermore, the justification for war in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003, allowed George W. Bush and Tony Blair to state they are bringing democracy to Afghanistan (pg. 20).Subjective interpretation of what democracy is can be used to validate aggression. Institutional Logic Institutional logic states, Democratic institutions and processes make leaders accountable to a wide range of social groups that may, in a variety of circumstances, oppose war (Rosato, pg. 587). The accountability of political elites wanting to stay in office means they must be ready to discredit unpopular policies and align themselves with other elites who share the same interests. Democratic states also allow for freedom of speech and a supposedly transparent political process, meaning the mass public can monitor and rate the government s performance holding these leaders accountable. • 22. Disadvantages Of Antitrust Law Chief Justice Roberts stated courts in the U.S. have historically granted injunctions upon a finding of infringement since the 19th century. The Antitrust Division in the U.S. also admits a patent owner s rights to exclude are similar to the rights enjoyed by owners of other forms of private property in the Antitrust Guidelines for the Licensing of Intellectual Property. Therefore, as a fundamental principle, antitrust law does not generally prohibit the holder of any other property right from seeking an injunction to vindicate that right. The FTC has the right to regulate unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or practices under Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. During the past two decades, the FTC has been heavily involved in several high profile SEP disputes, including Dell Computer Corp., N Data, Rambus Inc. v. FTC, Motorola Mobility, and Bosch GmbH. People see the government as power hungry, cold, and corrupt. This is evident throughout time when the people are discontent with their government. Henry David Thoreau once said, That government is best which governs least. Henry David Thoreau lived two hundred years ago, but his statement is still relevant today. I neither disagree or agree with his statement. Both forms of government has it s flaws and benefits and I feel it s dangerous to only agree with one side. The government should not be intertwined with the lives of the citizens but the government should not have a hands off approach either. I believe the government should be a balance of the hands off approach and the government that utilizes it s power. I believe that a government that does not use it s power is wrong because it would slow down humanity and leave the country s citizens vulnerable. Without a strong government, advances in science and medicine would slow down completely (Figurative language, hyperbole). NASA would cease to exist and many government backed science programs would be lost. This would mean a considerable loss in human advancement. • 42. The Significance of Liberal Reforms between 1906-1910 Essay The Significance of Liberal Reforms between 1906 1910 After the Liberal government came into power due to a landslide victory. When they came to power the Liberals knew there was great need for reform. They knew this change was really required to help and improve Britain and as a whole, make it a better country. There were many parts of Britain that were in very poor condition (in poverty). To eliminate this factor that had plagued Britain the Liberals introduced many reforms between 1906 1910. Each of these had specific aims. They were mainly directing these towards the working class people. One of the crucial targets of the reforms was the children of Britain. They knew that the children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This meant that they were coming out harder criminals than when they went in. As the liberals had become aware of this they set up Borstals where only children were allowed to be imprisoned. Within these Borstals the children were educated. The intention of this was that these children would grow up as respectable adults with high morals. Out of the reforms introduced for children this seemed to deem the most successful, even though children were still put into adult prisons when the Borstals become to full (again the government didn t have enough money to introduced many of these Borstals). The Liberals knew it was not just the children who needed aid in Britain. It was also people too old to work. The elderly. Booth and Rowntree s survey into poverty revealed that the majority of the elderly were being forced to work in workhouses when it was no longer possible for them to work for any one else. In 1908 the Old Age Pensions Act was introduced. This had great significance as it freed the pensioners from the fear of the workhouse. Once more as the government were struggling to find enough money to properly fund this, it was a mere 5 shillings that was supplied to only pensioners over 70. These five shillings were only just enough to survive and as pensioners were only given to people over 70, there were be many pensioners that had to work when almost physically ... Electronical devices start as far back as 1835 when Joseph Henry, who was an American scientist, created the first electronical remote device. Joseph created a remote switch that was used as part of a telegraph. Henry s remote idea was later used for improving telephones. Electronics were first invented to help people communicate and/or improve their everyday lives. They were meant to enhance people s lives by making life easier. • 46. Real Estate Data Set This task involves trying to give an educated guess on a linear regression model for pricing real estate using a real facts date set using numbers and facts. Normally two approaches are used for valuing a real estate property: income and sales comparison. The sales assessment approach values a real estate property based on sale prices of similar properties. In this case the properties with familiar individuality are basically on the same price level, it would be typical to use a linear regression model to complete this demonstration. Our team will examine the significance of numerous independent variables to a real estate value. Two important strategies to regression testing is to run all test, and run a subset of the test based on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The correlation is 41% between Bdrm and Size. We have concluded that there is no problem of multicollinearity in the data. We also found that Price and Size have relatively large scales compared with other variables. So it is natural to consider the logarithmic form of these two variables. We will run a new regression in which the regressor is log (price) and the regressand Size is replaced by its logarithm log (size). The R squared of this new model is around 60%, even a little lower than the original model. The statistical significance of other independent variables keeps almost unaffected. The analysis of coefficients in this model with logarithms is not intuitive. So we still stick to the reduced linear model estimated in (a). We analyzed the OLS residuals to check for possible heteroskedasticity for a cross sectional data set. We computed the fitted values of Price and OLS residuals in our model. Then residuals are sorted by fitted values of Price, and a scatter diagram of residuals is plotted against the fitted values in Figure 2. It is observed that all points are fairly scattered and there is no obvious pattern for the dependence of the residuals on the fitted values. We conclude that a linear model with homoskedastic errors is satisfactory for this data set. We evaluated the validity of this linear regression model by checking the accuracy of its prediction. The linear model is estimated by using 100 out of 105 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Analysis Of Peter Singer s Argument On Famine, Affluence,... I m a strong believer in that anyone can make their own choices in life. There is no such thing as moral obligation in my books, however there does exist courtesy or kind heartedness. Peter Singer s argument regarding famine, affluence, and morality is, in my opinion, strongly influenced by sympathetic and empathetic feelings based on observations in a still developing country. In a sense, his reasoning is subjective and biased because he seems to focus only on the problem, and not the circumstances that could have prevented such problems from the beginning. I will elaborate on some of the loopholes in his arguments, and further clarify why the more fortunate people (in terms of wealth) should NOT be morally obligated to help the poor, rather they should have the choice of being courteous or kind, and they should have the freedom to spend the money they worked so hard for according to their own agenda. To start, I would like to establish that suffering and death from lack of food and other necessities is indeed a bad thing. There is no counter argument to that statement. However, the problem lies in the second and third premises, which states that (2) if it is in our power to prevent something bad from happening, then we have a moral duty to do it; (3) therefore, we have a moral duty to help the poor. According to Singer, the second premise is comprised of a strong and weak argument. The strong argument states that the wealthy people should help the poor people at a ... • 48. Corinthian Religion The church that Paul had established in Corinth was all sorts of controversies and divisions such as division among themselves, lawsuits before unbelievers, moral disorders etc... Paul addressed the Corinthian believers but also it seems his letter is relevant to all followers of Christ up to this date. I therefore would like to choose one issue which is moral disorder sexual immorality happened in Corinth. Besides other issues, Paul also had to deal with the problem of sexual immorality (1Cor. 6:12 20). Clearly that some of the Corinthians were going to prostitutes. It seems like the Corinthians wanted to justify themselves in saying, Food for the stomach and the stomach for food (6:13) or just simply say when you are hungry, you eat. However, in regarding to this, Paul addressed that the body is the members of Christ (6:15) and the temple of the Holy Spirit (6:19); not to be used for immorality, but for the Lord (6:13). He also argued that For the two, it says, will become one flesh (6:16). This implied to the human marriage where the love of husband and wife reflect the love of Christ for his Church. No one is allowing separating them. Also, he asserted that our bodies no longer belong to us but to Christ. Then we should not do anything to harm them for if we are united to prostitutes are actually harmful to the body. ** Now a day, we all admit that our society is somewhat has sexuality disorder in terms of premarital sexual, sexual active, living together before marry. I, of course, bolted out the door to buy my first bottle (1). Did my breasts enlarge?
