Blasphemy Law Research Paper
The Blasphemy Law that Malala mentioned in Chapter 17 restricted Pakistani citizens freedom in
beliefs. They are not allowed to speak their mind out against the Holy Quran without being sentenced
to death. The Blasphemy Law definitely contradicts of one Jinnah s speeches which was about people
of all religions being free to worship in the new Pakistan (222). This also ties in with Malala thinking
Jinnah would be disappointed with the poor changes in Pakistan. According to Malala, the killing of
Osama bin Laden had opened the Pakistani s eyes to see that even though the U.S. and the Pakistani
were supposed to be allies but when the U.S. needed help the Pakistani government did not help. As
stated on page 212, But we soon found out that the Americans had gone it alone. which resulted in

This is all understandable after all Malala is becoming an inspirational figure and that is against the
Taliban motives. The Taliban wants to be able to control the citizens and with Malala encouraging
them to stand up for themselves will interrupt Taliban plans. According to Malala, the Taliban were
threatening her life because she was spreading secularism (223). Malala didn t seem to give it any
attention, in fact, she isn t afraid of death, her mindset is definitely not like any average children.
Everyone will eventually die when their time comes. Malala doesn t seem to want to waste her time on
worrying and try to continue with her daily life. Malala goes into such vivid detail about everything
that happened on the day she was shot because it was the day that changes everything. She described
her last normal day, doing what she normally do and worrying about persuading people to let girls go
to school instead of the shooting that happened. The shooting changed her life, she was in danger but
she also became

Impact Of Blaxploitation Films In The Black Power Movement
The Impact Of Blaxploitation films in the black power movement During the 1960s African
Americans began to start a black power movement to overcome severe oppression. African Americans
during this time in history were being murdered and treated like animals and were not given equal
rights. Prior to the black power movement, African Americans were practicing a non violent civil
rights movement that believed in integrated marches and peaceful sit ins. African Americans before
the black power movement were trying to be more like the white man rather than themselves. For
example, black men and women were perming their hair rather than wearing their natural hair and was
even bleaching their skin. The black power movement

According to the World Bank, PPP broadly refers to arrangements, typically medium to long term,
between the public and private sectors whereby part of the services or works that fall under the
responsibilities of the public sector are provided by the private sector, with clear agreement on shared
objectives for delivery of public infrastructure and/ or public services. PPP has the ability to link the
expertise in the private sector and the control in the public sector. PPP doesn t work for all the sectors

Later the 4 projects were put on hold after the Ministry of Communications reviewed it and decided to
bring it under the government purview. The projects include metro and rail scheme and PTB had taken
steps in preparing them for the private sector. If the ministry doesn t approve the project then it would
be a great blow to Kuwait which wants to attract private sector and new technology to the country.
The metro and rail would become the largest private sector projects if they get approved. The MPA

In 2008 a new BOT (Build Operate Transfer) law was passed as Kuwait recognized the requirement to
attract foreign investors and start the development plan. BOT is the method through which private
sector would be involved in mega projects under the Kuwait development plan. The new law was a
model of PPP according to which, the private investors would build and operate for a fixed time frame
and benefit from the revenue streams. In Kuwait time frame was usually 20 40 years after which it
would be transferred to the government. Despite all the optimism, the government did not sign any
BOT contracts and 31.4% projects or $61.2 billion worth of projects were held or called off. Promises
by the ministers and senior officials became a routine in the media with the private investors frustrated

Introduction of Malaysia Bond Market
INTRODUCTION
1.1 WHAT IS BOND?
In finance, a bond is an instrument of indebtedness of the bond issuer to the holders. It is a debt
security, under which the issuer owes the holders a debt and, depending on the terms of the bond, is
obliged to pay them interest (the coupon) and/or to repay the principal at a later date, termed the
maturity. Interest is usually payable at fixed intervals (semi annual, annual, and sometimes monthly).
Very often the bond is negotiable, i.e. the ownership of the instrument can be transferred in the
secondary market.
Thus a bond is a form of loan or IOU: the holder of the bond is the lender (creditor), the issuer of the
bond is the borrower (debtor), and the coupon is the interest. Bonds provide the ... Show more content

bonds that are based on Shariah compliant concept. As at end Dec 2010, Islamic bonds accounted for
39% of total bond outstanding.
1.3 BOND MARKET DEVELOPMENT IN MALAYSIA * With the shift in public policy in the
1980s to consolidate public sector activities and promote the private sector as the engine of growth, a
new financing pattern emerged. With this transformation of the economy, the decline of public sector
borrowing was compensated by an increase in financing by the private sector. The private sector has
relied on the banking system for its financing needs, of which a large portion was intermediated
through the banking system the ratio of bank credit to gross domestic product (GDP) in Malaysia was
high at 149% in 1997. Nevertheless, the ratio of bank deposits to GDP was also high at 154% and
therefore banks were able to finance their lending operations from their deposits. * As the banking
sector was heavily exposed to the economic crisis that struck the nation in 1997, it was very cautious
in extending new credits. In the post crisis period, loan growth was low; for example in 1998 and
1999, growth was less than the target of 8% proposed by the government. * The malignancy of the
Asian financial turmoil was derived from the externally driven currency crisis with the internally
induced banking crisis. In other

The Conflict And Systems Theory Of Conflict Management
Conflict is an offensive obstruction of contrasts from two distinct parties on a perceive contradiction
on the desires and concerns of others carrying out their goals. According to Cooper, Conflict develops
when something is propelled into the space already occupied by something else that cannot readily
accommodate this new presence (2003). The destructive potential experience of conflict exists as a
major aspect of organization life which offer access for advancement, change and development. These
conflict results are vital to theory conflict management method in achieving a conclusion.
Management assumes a willingness to desist or disengage so that the energy produced by the conflict
can be appropriately dissipated (Cooper, 2003).
Systems theory of conflict management is an ideology that reconizes the conceivable sources of the
several types of conflicts in an organization while also explaining how the conflicts can be resolved.
The theory places significance on characters of individuals in the affiliation while concentrating its
investigation on how and why an person s deed can trigger a reaction or reply from another person
within an organization or institution, and how its solution can be worked out. Due to the fact that
organizations hire diverse individuals with distinct personalities and cultural backgrounds, there are
possibilities of the employees failing to work smoothly with each other and thus a workable solution
has to be sought so as to build a knighted

New York Daily News Article Analysis
The paper that is being looked at is the New York Daily News, published on the 6th of July, claiming
to have the largest circulation in the Manhattan Bronx area(ref3). The circulation is quite substantial
for the city, but doesn t spread any further within that paper. It is one of the first tabloids within the
area to have grown popularity, and in the chosen article suggests a more conservative lean, having a
strong impact on the language used within the pages of the newspaper. It seems to be more likely to be
focused on appealing for the middle class. In this article especially, there is the use of strong
homophobic language, and refusal to correctly gender those taking part in the riot, including referring
to the patrons of the bar as little girls (ref4). This brings into question the amount of seriousness this

and the police force. The pair describe what they know to have happened within the building and the
questions that were asked throughout the community. All questioning the actions of the police, and
their prior motives as well. Not only do Bruce and Nan provide an understanding of how the LGBT
community generally viewed the paper, but within their search for answers, they give a strong

community in New York at the time. The couple comment about a payoff having been one of the main
reasons for the riot, suggesting the lack of effort that it took to influence that division of the police

Malcolm Gladwell once stated, ten thousand hours of deliberate practice are needed to become world
class in any field (Gladwell). In other words, Malcolm believed that an individual who dedicated
thousands of hours to a specific occupation would manifest success. Similarly, this ten thousand hour
rule could apply to a certified specialist in appellate law because anyone able to meet the challenge
and educational requirements to become a certified appellate specialist would have spent at least ten
thousand hours practicing in this specific field. According to John Derrick who is a certified specialist

Religion In James Agee s A Death In The Family
Whether a person is religious or not, everyone has a different viewpoint on religion. Some people see
religion as a helping hand, something that is meant to do good. Others see it as a negative force used
for evil and to cause harm. A lot of people have no opinion on the matter whatsoever. One of the main
themes in James Agee s novel is religion and the causes of it. In A Death in the Family, the characters
are very set in stone with their beliefs. While one character turns to their religion for comfort after a
tragedy, another uses a person s lack of beliefs as a reason not to perform an act for their family.
Throughout Agee s novel, religion is used as a constructive force for some characters and destructive
for other characters.

Father Jackson does not give his regards to the children or say his is sorry for what has happened.
After Father Jackson enters the Follet house, he goes over and sits in Jay s chair in the sitting room
which causes the children to stare at him. He does not even introduce himself to the kids he just stares
back them with such displeasure. He begins to lecture the kids about staring at him and how they
should act like a proper lady and gentleman. After he finishes lecturing them, Aunt Hannah comes into
the room and brings Father Jackson to see Mary. While the adults are in the room, Rufus and
Catherine listen as the door and feel that it was something evil, to which she was submitting almost
without a struggle, and by which she was deceived, (270). As they are listening at the door, they both
imagine Father Jackson being killed in different scenarios, which reveal their distaste for the man. The
more we read on, the more we see that Father Jackson has different motives with his religion. Father
Jackson is shown as a very close minded individual who does not seem to have any respect for
someone who is not religious. He also refuses to complete Jay s burial service because Jay was never

Kant On Prostitution
Prostitution is often called the world s oldest profession. It has been traced back to thousands of years
ago, and is still happening within our society today. There has been an overwhelming amount of
debate surrounding the topic of legalization of prostitution within Canada. Prostitution can be
determined at many angles, and possibly become legal in our nation, however, prostitution is proven
to be unethical, demoralizing and criminalizing. Prostitution is associated with a great deal of crime,
such as human trafficking, sexual assault/rape, and the demoralization of a human body. Therefore,
legalizing prostitution increases the demand for immoral behavior within our society. One form of
illegal prostitution is streetwalking. This is where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant deems that people have a responsibility to act morally and to have good intentions, because it
will then lead to ethical result. Meaning if you do good, good will be done onto you, therefore we
should make moral decisions because it determines the ethical outcome. However, he also believes
that is it not possible to help others without helping ourselves. Prostitution correlates within Kant s
theory because it evaluates the moral issue of whether the service of prostitution is degrading ones
body. Prostitutes allow men, who are willing to pay, to use their bodies to as methods of pleasure
towards men. Therefore, according to Kant, the demoralization of a woman s body, resulting from
prostitution is considered immoral because it violates the formulation of means to an end , signifying
that all persons are valuable and using them to satisfy our desires is deemed inappropriate. Within the
Catholic Church, prostitution is deemed a sin because it defies the principles of a human body being a
temple of God. Corinthians 6:19 states, What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy
Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your

Analysis Of The Sweet Hereafter By Mitchelll Stephens
The Man with a Mission, Mitchell Stephens Sometimes there is a situation that one is dragged in to,
such as some type of accident. For example, Mitchell Stephens is one of the narrators in The Sweet
Hereafter by Russell Banks. In his side of the story, he is a lawyer from New York who heard about a
bus accident in Sam Dent where ten children died in a bus crash. Mitchell is also the one lawyer
representing Risa Walker and her husband in a negligence suit that financially compensated them for
the loss of their son Sean. Mitchell is not only just a lawyer like many others but also had more
experience. He sympathizes with the parents who lost their children in the accident because like these
parents who lost their children he also has a daughter Zoe, who is he can consider dead due to her drug
problem. To this reason, Mitchell Stephen has the most to gain by telling his tale to the reader because
he seeks to relieve himself from his grief and to help future children riding to school who do not have
to come to the same fate as others in the accident. One reason why Mitchell is trying to gain
something by telling his tale is that he trying to help the people who lost their children in the accident.
Mitchell might a lawyer but he did not come to San Dent just because there was a good case like the
bus accident and he it was good pay, no, not Mitchell, he even said it himself that he did not come for
the money as Mitchell said people immediately assume we re greedy, that it s money we re after,
people call us ambulance chasers and so on, like we re the proctologists of the profession, and, yes,
there is lots of those ((Banks 90). The reason he came to San Dent was that he was angry because he
knows this was not just an accident as he Mitchell said I knew at once that it wasn t an accident at all.
There are no accidents. (Banks 91). Mitchell wanted to help the people from San Dent by making
them as angry as he was. To forget about their grief and Point their anger to the one who is the culprit.
Other reason to why Mitchell is the one narrator in The Sweet Hereafter that is trying to gain
something by telling his tale is because of him a man on a mission. Like many other lawyers heard
about the accident

Silas Marner , Literary Analysis
The Aspects of Parenting in Silas Marner Love and Respect are the most important aspects of
parenting and of all relationships. Jodie Foster says. There are no constraints to love In the book of
Silas Marner by George Eliot this is very true, all children need love and respect from their parents
because all children have a privation of wanting to be loved. In the novel, Silas is a man who is living
the life when his best friend William Pane accuses him of stealing from the church and Silas s life is
turned upside down. He moves to a village called Ravenloe and becomes a hermit and the desolation
of his life now makes him anti social towards the others living in Raveloe. For living he is a weaver

Dunsey was culpable of stealing Silas s money, black mailing Godfrey, killing Godfrey s horse, and
ending up falling in a hole and dying (Eliot, 58). He had absolutely no forbearance by the way he
acted that day. Godfrey also not the best example of being respectful wants to be with Nancy when he
already has a wife and denies his own daughter (Eliot, 96). If Squirre Cass was a good parent who
raised his kids to be respectful and honest they would not be getting themselves into so much trouble.
He lacked love towards his children and did not give them enough attention or the care they needed to
learn what was right and wrong. Godfrey and Molly are both selfish, and lack many parenting skills.
Molly brings her daughter into the freezing cold through a snow storm just so she can get revenge on
Godfrey at his party. She falls in the snow and dies (Eliot, 91). She put the child at great risk and did
not seem to have any solicitude for the child, but after the child fell into the snow she wandered off
and managed to make her way into Silas s cottage and luckily Silas finds her and keeps her. If he had
not she could have died, Molly put her own daughter at risk of death. If she truly loved and cared for
her daughter she was have done what was best. This shows how uncaring she is towards her love for
Eppie, her own daughter. Godfrey is just as guilty as being a bad parent as Molly. He does not

Emmeline Pankhurst Women To Vote Analysis

November 10,2016
Women in European History
Professor Giloi
Midterm Exercise
Emmeline Pankhurst is a strong activist for women s right to vote. She was a British activist who
wanted to have women s voices heard and taken seriously. Pankhurst has taken steps to reach her goal,
of having women to vote, by forming a union called Women s Social and Political Union. In creating
this it has gathered women all over who have the same mindset as her. This has helped Pankhurst with
some sort of military tactics to be carried out. The tactics started off as nonviolent movement and
became a violent movement. The Women s Social and Political Union had put in place techniques
such as parliamentary petitions, marches, hunger strikes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It means that women would be able to have more control over their own lives. Pankhurst felt as
though if women had the ability to vote then their would be equal laws put in action. In The
Importance of the Vote Pankhurst elaborates on this further. She takes the issues that concern women
that are controlled by men to help get her point across, on how if women were allowed to vote it could
change for the better. Pankhurst mentions, We should have equal laws for divorce, and the law should
recognize that they have two parents (34). She talks about how when parents are married, the mom is
responsible for the child and the same goes for when the parents decide to have a divorce. When the
parents divorced the mother would have to go out to look for work, which meant the child would not
receive proper care. The mom would then have to face time in prison, hence why Pankhurst wanted to
have equal laws so there can be a compromise. She also uses another point in that piece on the
inheritance laws. Pankhurst mentions, When you look at the laws of inheritance in this country, it
makes you smile to hear that argument...Men have taken very good care that women do not inherit
until all male heirs are exhausted (35). Men have oppressed women from having any type of control
over owning land. They would give it to the oldest male heir or the next male making it unfair for
women. Pankhurst was trying to say by having equal laws the oldest child can take over the heir
whether they are male or female. It can be a big game changer for

The New Wave Immigration Of Southern And Eastern Europeans
The supplemental texts of LSP 200 explore the history of the old wave immigration of Southern and
Eastern Europeans to the United States and compares the experiences of this group with the new wave
immigration of non European immigrants to the United States post 1965. One common phenomenon
was clearly defined and explained the most important indicator of immigrant success in adapting to
American culture, segmented assimilation. Kasinitz defines segmented assimilation as various
outcomes of the second generation based on different opportunities and social network (Kasinitz
Mollenkopf, 7). He then provides examples of how public intuitions, such as Urban High School in
New York City contribute to this theory by racializing and genderizing their students (Kasinitz
Mollenkopf, 28 49). The micro aggressions experienced by the Dominican male students of Urban
High School, such as the interactions between teachers and students in classroom settings are
representative of larger processes that are components of institutionalized racism The lived experience
of these students contributes to the disparities in education seen among the second generation, which
ultimately diminishes their opportunities and social networks (Kasinitz Mollenkopf, 29).
Gerber defines segmented assimilation as how race and social class have combined effects on where
immigrants live and eventually go to school, and overall acculturation pattern (Gerber Kraut, 21).

Computer And Computer Science
In today s society, computers and computer science play a large role in everyday life whether it be at
work, at school or during personal time. In this paper the history of the computer, the science of them
and its incorporation into school will be explored. The topic that the exploration will start with is the
history of the Computer and computer science between 1936, starting with Alan Turing and his
Universal Turing Machine, leading through Bell Laboratory and all the advances through and into
present day. This will lead into the connection between the computer and education and how education
was changed with the incorporation of computers. The final part explains the problems that has
surrounded computers and the study of computer science since their creations and how the solutions
were formed over the years and how they continue to change the face of computer science, like the
first models being as large as small buildings or a more recent issue of the limited diversity of
computer science. Without computers and computer science, schooling today would be very much
different than it is today. Computers have an extensive history in education and the goal of this paper
is to present that information. In 1936 one the first concept of a computer was developed by Alan
Turing, the Universal Turing Machine(UTM). Before Turing, there were only theories about
computing machines that could do simple calculations but there were not any functioning models.

Solar Power Importance
Solar power is an important aspect of life that people should consider putting in their homes. Solar
power is the process of obtaining the energy from the sun and converting it to multiple uses. It can be
used to light, heat, and cool homes for cheaper than electric companies. Solar power is created by
using a device called a solar panel. Solar panels are used to soak up the sun s rays to create renewable
energy for homes and businesses. Solar power is saved during the daylight so that it can be used
during the night. If it is a cloudy day; enough energy can be preserved. If it isn t, the solar panel can
still get the energy it needs if the sun s rays shine through the clouds. On a cloudy day, the thicker the
clouds the less energy obtained(U.S. Department of Energy,2009).
Solar power is mostly used in places with the most sunshine. For example, they are majorly used in
places in the United States like California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Another good place to have
solar panels is in other countries, especially close to the equator. Close to the equator is a good spot for
the use of solar panels because the sun s rays are stronger there.
The process of creating the Solar panel is not an easy process. Solar panels are made up of mostly
different types of silicon and glass like substances. The process of making them and installing them is
costly, but after that they are done, they are fine. A photovoltaic cell is a cell that converts solar energy
into electrical energy(

Review 1 Flowers Review
When it comes to online casino gaming and slot machines, NetEnt certainly know a thing or two that s
for sure. Showing that they can think outside of the lines when needed, the 5 star developer has
released flowers, a game that exudes flower power to say the very least. Built upon 5 reels, this game
unloads double symbols and the chance to win big!
Theme and Design
If you really had to summarise the theme of this slot machine in one word it would be adorable . In a
departure from the usual NetEnt offerings, Flowers abandons all things serious to deliver something

budgetary implications. Taking your coins, you are free to spread them on all 30 paylines, should
really wish to maximise your betting efforts.
How to Play Flowers
While its abstract nature is pretty much undeniable, you won t need too much knowledge outside of
the norm to play this game. Sticking to what s simple and for the most part what works, when playing
Flowers you can control the paylines in place by using the button labelled Lines . For reference, you
can also alter the paylines by using the numbers located to both the right and left of the reels. Setting
the wager amount can be done via the green Bet Level buttons, with the coin value altered in a very
similar fashion. All paylines can be immediately wagered upon at the highest coin value via the Max
Bet button, while you can also implement autoplay if you wish. Hardly complex, Flowers is one of
those slot games that is easy to get around.
Flowers Final Verdict
Appearing seemingly out of nowhere and certainly throwing the cat amongst the pigeons, few would
have ever predicted that NetEnt would head down the happy go lucky route with a major slots release.

Mother Nature takes a deep breath, and she sighs a breeze. Her feet are planted solidly in the ground,
and her tap root toes dig deep into soft soil. Her eyes are storms; but, behind the eyes, her mind is a

subliminal thought. In To Paint a Water Lily by Ted Hughes illustrates the intricacies of a pond to
depict an understanding that nature is complex than what is comprehensible. Moreover, Hughes argues
that in order to create an accurate portrait of one aspect of nature, such as a water lily, one must
understand its environment.
Hughes begins the poem by distinguishing the water and the sky, thus in the opening line the author
has already complicated nature s depiction. Water and sky become two minds of the same woman, the
pond. The personification of the environment sends a message immediately: this image is not a
landscape, but a portrait. Just as a well made portrait captures the subject s personality through the ...

Sixteen lines of this poem are dedicated to describing creatures that alight the subject of the painting,
delicately perching for a brief second before humming away. If this much detail is required to
understand the water lily above the surface, then there must be something to say about the waters
below; however, it is through the exclusion of the details of the water that Hughes makes his most
powerful comment on nature. The water lily balances delicately between what is known about nature,
the dragonfly so to speak, and whatever horror nudge her root, the uncertainty, the unconsciousness,

Questions On Cadet Wing Commander
MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: How I would return Det. 775 to number 1 as Cadet Wing Commander
1. Being Cadet Wing Commander is something that I really want to do. Before coming to Detachment
775, since coming to USC I have learned that we were once the number one small detachment in the
nation and as Cadet Wing Commander I will everything I can in order to return it that status. In order
to do this I will try to get everyone involved, I would make sure everyone is on the same page as far as
rules, goals, and information being distributed, and I would change PT to accommodate more cadets.
2. Currently I am not as involved in the detachment as I would like to be, but I am a very persistent
person and will ensure assignments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4. Changing PT in the morning to accommodate everyone:
a. There is no doubt that there is a significant skill level during PT. PT should be split at least 3 4 PT
sessions a month. Meaning cadets are broken up based on their personal skill level and which area
they need the most help in. This way every cadet is being pushed to the max.
b. We all have a goal to decrease our run time and exercises such as the Indian run will push cadets to
improve their running score. Therefore, by intensifying PT as the semester continues and completing
more intense exercises, cadets will be pushed to their max and scores will improve.
c. Setting high goals will push and motivate cadets to push themselves harder than the previous PT
session. Goals such as:
(1.) If the detachment as a whole does at least 15% higher from the PFD taken in fall to the PFD taken
in spring, then the cadets will get to choose what exercises will be done for one PT session.
(2.) Cadets run time for 1.5 mile run will decrease by 30 seconds from the beginning of the semester
to the end of the semester.
(3.) Cadets will be able to increase their personal push up amount done in one minuet by at least five
push ups by the end of the semester, unless they have maxed the number of pushups required for the
standardized PT test.
5. At this point in time if I were to become cadet Wing Commander, I do not feel I would be able to

Book Theif Love Quotes
The Power of Love The human heart feels things the eyes cannot see, and knows what the mind
cannot understand. This quote, stated by Robert Vallet, resonates with all human beings irrespective of
their race, religion, or culture. The Book Thief, written by Marcus Zusak and narrated by death, tells
an eye opening story from the perspective of a small group of Germans who silently, secretly and
courageously opposed Nazism during the time of the Holocaust. While death is featured prominently
throughout the story, ultimately, love shines through. This is seen not only in The Book Thief, but in
everyday life. Hence, Zusak s purpose in writing The Book Thief is to expose his readers to the
exceptional, yet beautiful power of love: how love can save a person, change a person, and ultimately
be everlasting. The bond of love between individuals has the power to save lives. It supersedes the ...

A Time That Has Changed The Life Of Farmers
In a time that was not that long ago, in a village that wasnt that far from this one. There live a young
boy, Skylar, and his parents. They lived the hardworking life of farmers. They worked from sunup to
sundown, only stopping to eat a simple lunch of bread and water. On there good days they may even
have the luxury of an apple. Skylar s parents could not afford to pay help while Skylar was in school,
and he told them that he did not want them to struggle for him. So he never went. This devastated him.
But he would never tell anyone, or let it show. He knew if he did, he would break his parent s heats.
One day while walking to the market to get the water from the town well and the food for the day he
started to think about books and his farming chores. He was no longer paying attention to where he
was going and he bumped into someone. Skylar frantically said Oof. Sorry, sorry. I wasn t looking
where.. as he spoke he looked up and saw a girl around the same age as him. He had seen her around
town before but never really noticed her. Oh no. Its entirely my fault. I was reading my book on the
way to school. I wasn t watching where I was going. She sounded very flustered as she gathered up
her school books and her lunch.
He thought to himself I suppose this is what people call pretty.

Heroic Actions In The Odyssey
In the Odyssey, Odysseus is portrayed as an hero after the Trojan war, however, he showed signs of
villainous acts throughout the story that were overshadowed by his, questionably, heroic actions. An
example would be when he fought the cyclops, Polyphemus. Instead of leaving peacefully, he let his
anger cloud his vision and taunted the giant by saying O Cyclops! Would you feast on my
companions? Puny am I in Caveman s hands? How do you like the beating that we gave, you damned
cannibal! Eater of guess under your roof! Zeus and the gods have paid you! (Odyssey, P.g 383) Due to
his taunt, his boat was washed back on shore. Even after his crewmates warned for him to stop, he
continued and told the cyclops who he was and where he was from. When

The Origins of Voodoo Essay
The Origins of Voodoo Voodoo is a religion rich in heritage and founded in faith and community. The
religion has been villainized by western culture and has been wrongly portrayed as malignant and
dangerous. The religion is not founded in any of the (known) black magics or fear popularized by
Hollywood films, but rather it is based on balance and tradition. The religion is not something that
should be encountered with inhibition or fear induced from childhood horror stories, but embraced for
its strength and history. Voodoo originated as an amalgam of African religions during the slave trade.
As slaves were shipped from Africa to the Caribbean, groups of slaves sharing a similar heritage were
broken apart to prevent any sense of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the three centuries of religious oppression, voodoo became a symbol of pride and independence for
the slaves. Any pride in a slave is, of course, regarded as a threat to the slave owner. Rumors of human
sacrifice and devil worship became prevalent in the social circles of plantation owners and slave
traders. These statements had no validity, but traveled quickly throughout the Caribbean and America.
The practitioners of voodoo embraced this fear as means to frighten their former masters and gain
some respect in a world where they were deprived of everything. Former slave owners quickly found
themselves duped into the beliefs of voodoo dolls and hexes. Of course, many slave owners simply
killed their slaves rather than be frightened by the voodoo. The practice itself is not actually
frightening or powerful in any way, but that doesn?t matter to superstitious folks like those in Salem.
No historical evidence of human sacrifice or affiliation with Satan has been discovered (Voodoo), or
likely ever will be. Primary religions involved in the African aspect of voodoo are Macumba and
Candomble of the Yoruba people of Nigeria, and several now extinct tribes from the Congos and
Cameroon. These religions lay the groundwork for the course of religious ceremonies and contain the
origins for the deities worshipped in modern voodoo. Voodoo?s principle deity, Olorun is the voodoo
equivalent to God. Though the name can be traced to the Yoruba tribe, it is unknown if

What Role Does Nature Play In Icarus
What is nature s role in the myth of Icarus and Daedalus? In the short story Icarus and Daedalus and
the poem Icarus nature plays a big role when Icarus, Daedalus son, escapes with him by flying but
ends up being careless and dies due to the sun. The short story talks about the story of Icarus and
Daedalus when the poem is about Icarus death and what he must have been thinking while plunging to
his death. In Icarus and Daedalus by Josephine Preston Peabody, and Icarus by Wendy A. Shaffer,
nature exacerbates by having Icarus die in both the short story and poem.
To begin, in In Icarus and Daedalus by Josephine Preston Peabody, Icarus is foolish and nature is not
on his side, and he ends up flying too close to the sun and dies. Daedalus ... Show more content on

Shaffer, the poem uses nature against Icarus. This poem is about what it would be like to be Icarus
while he was taking his last breath. Was Icarus mad? Was he blaming his father? Was he regretful?
These were all questions that were addressed throughout the poem. The mythical poem states,
Watching white feathers flutter upward, curse the wax as a fair weathered friend... Did he rail at the
sun... he laughed, and admitted that even had he known of the many failings of fathers and feathers, he
would have done it anyway (Shaffer 20). This piece of evidence displays the importance of Icarus
flying to close to the sun and dying. It shows how he killed himself along with the nature. The nature
of the myth and poem plays the role of freedom and death. The feathers signify freedom because of
being able to flutter and fly, while the sun signifies death and misfortune. Even though Icarus died, he
died being the adventurous foolish person he is. With nature not on his side, it shows how when you
do not follow rules, you may end up being in serious trouble even if it was fun. If you get too
senseless, you can end up having a big problem. Overall, in the poem Icarus by Wendy A. Shaffer,
nature is the root of Icarus

Use of Excessive Force by Police
Use of Excessive Force by Police
Use of Excessive Force by Police Police officers are given a significant amount of discretion simply
due to the nature of the job. Officers are faced with many threatening situations forcing them to react
quickly, yet appropriately. They have the power to infringe upon any citizen s rights to freedom and
therefore they must use this power effectively. One major concern with the amount of discretion
officers have is their power to decide when to use force or when to use lethal force. Manning (1997)
argues that it is generally accepted that police should be allowed to use force. He also explains that
there are an uncertain amount people who agree on as to what constitutes excessive force. The line ...

Guidelines need to be set so that officers continue to incorporate and maintain the concept of
community policing. Therefore, there must be information available to inform reader that police
discretion not only encompasses use of police profiling, responses to domestic violence, or choices in
acceptance of gratuities but discretionary decision to use force. When debating the issue of police use
of force, the issue of what actions constitute too much force must also be addressed. Another concern
is the possibility of corruption amount officers. When given such great power, the probability of
corruption is high. Officers generally do not start out as corrupt, but years of work on the force can
create animosity between officers and suspects and lead them to decide to use force more quickly
(McEwen, 1996). Many times, officers patrol the streets alone which creates the opportunity for
potential abuse of power (McEwen, 1996). Although police officers need to be permitted to exercise
some discretion, they also need limits and guidelines to follow when using their powers of discretion
(Manning, 1997). The decision to use force should not be taken lightly in that citizen s lives are at
stake. Police should be allowed discretion in decisions to use force; however, this discretion should be
limited. In several cases in Arizona, officers have used deadly means of force. In all cases, the officers

Political Representation Of Political Violence
When embarking on a study of the representation of political violence in drama, it is essential first of
all to establish some agreed upon terms and frames of reference, and some reasonably stable
understanding of the object of study. Political violence as a subject for dramatic representation can be
seen as a special category of what is called political drama more generally. Political drama can be
understood to include such ingredients as the clash of political philosophies and strategies in concrete
situations, the struggle for political power through democratic or extra democratic means, the
maneuverings, triumphs and defeats of parties, groups and classes in pursuit of their political goals,
and the ceaseless weighing of ends and means in that pursuit. As a field of human activity and
commitment, politics, broadly defined, has furnished material for a huge number of plays, engaging
audiences in the recurring variations of personal and political dilemmas. Some of these plays can be
seen to have the overt aim of changing or reinforcing the spectators understanding and political
alignment; others present the spectacle of human behavior in the political realm in an ostensibly
neutral way.
The dramatic representation of political violence addresses more specifically the call to violent action,
armed struggle, the readiness to fight and to kill, in the pursuit or defence of political ends. It can, to a
considerable extent, be analyzed in the terms and

Summary Of The Bhagavad Gita
The Bhagavad Gita, which means the song of the lord, is a part of the Mahabharata. It is a story about
the discourse between Arjuna, a prince, and Lord Krishna, who is an incarnation of the highest of all
divinity, creator of the entire universe. In the book, Arjuna is confused about his duty, dharma, to the
law of an elite warrior and kinship. It is Krishna who helps guide and encourage Arjuna to follow his
true path, svadharma. The book discusses three broad ways to live: devotion to god (bhakti), karma,
and jnana yoga which is practice and discipline. The Bhagavad Gita adapts and reformulates many
ideas of soul, karma, and ritual from Vedic sacrifice, the Upanishads, and Buddhism. These three
concepts are the major themes and are all interrelated with one another.
The Bhagavad Gita adopts and adapts the concept of karma from Buddhism, the Upanishads and
Vedic sacrifice. The concept of karma means action. In Vedic sacrifice and the Upanishads, karma is
associated with a ritual action. It was believed that by having rituals being performed by saints on
their behalf, one could improve the quality of their rebirth in the next life. The sacrificer would ask the
gods for strength, wealth, children, and immortality. In the Upanishads, karma is also associated to the
ideas of atman, self soul, and brahman, soul. The purpose of jnana yoga is to achieve the Upanishads
core teachings of the equivalence of the atman and the brahman. The Buddha changed the concept of
karma

which can empower them in the employment relationship. Union also is legitimate voice of employees

their dissatisfaction with economic aspects of the job, a desire to influence the work environment and

of professionalism.
What I feel about professionalism is it plays a big part in your everyday life because it can have an
impact your day to day interactions with any and every one. It could place you in a category rather the
person verbalize that to you or not it plays a part. The people you attract to yourself and the jobs that

Professionalism will be used in my career on a daily basis. I would have to come to work prepared and

Lepers were only able to approach a town at night and they needed to ring a bell to warn others of

lepers in his youth, but he learned to love them. His faith in God was so strong that when he

stretched forth his hand as though to receive an alms, he kissed it, and then put money therein. The

Examples Of Phoniness In Catcher In The Rye
Phoniness in The Catcher in the Rye In our society, we all hide our true nature and act in ways to
please others or to appear differently. One example of this is when many are with friends, as seen in
the song The Art of Peer Pressure by Kendrick Lamar, a track in the album good kid, m.A.A.d city. In
it, the song describes a youth who is misled by his friends, and despite not truly enjoying what he
does, partakes in drug and alcohol abuse with his friends, and eventually, partake in gang violence. As
the youth, K.Dot, stays more with his friends, he performs actions that he declares he had never done

This self destructive behavior is another one of the many created by his worldview of others as
phonies . One example can be seen in page 75, where Holden states that life itself makes [him] so
depressed. This shows us how his worldview that focuses on the negative aspects of everyone could
be problematic, as it leads Holden on to develop depression. Another example can be seen in Chapter

(page 29) His motivation to leave Pencey Prep is shown to be one of having developed depression
after seeing everyone there as phonies. Once again, this displays a prime example of how Holden s
idea of phonies can lead to self destructive actions such as developing depression. A third example of
this can be found towards the end of the book, where Holden straight up states that he really felt like,
committing suicide. (104) By this point, we see the final phase of his depression created by his phony
worldview, presenting an extremely self destructive behavior and mindset in depression. Holden
develops depression through his worldview of others as phonies , which shows how problematic his

future, are victims of your latest tragic endeavor.
Within this past month, you have vehemently advocated for the new tax plan, which intends to

2010). Auditing should be done by a competent, independent person. Accounting is the recording,
classifying, and summarizing of economic events in a logical manner for the purpose of providing
financial information for decision making (Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010). Many people confuse
auditing with accounting because auditing is usually concerned with accounting information, and
many auditors have a considerable amount of experience in the accounting profession. This confusion

Internal audit experience can be used to fulfill the experience requirement for becoming a CPA (Arens,
Elder, Beasley, 2010).
The AICPA is the organization that sets professional requirements for CPAs. The AICPA also conducts
research and publishes materials on many different subjects related to accounting, auditing,
management advisory services, and taxes (Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010). The organization also
prepares and grades the CPA examinations, provides continuing education to its members, and
develops specialty designations to help market and assure the quality of services in specialized
practice areas (Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010).
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board provides oversight for auditors of public
companies, including establishing auditing and quality control standards for public company audits,
and performing inspections of the quality controls at audit firms performing those audits (Arens,
Elder, Beasley, 2010). The PCAOB has responsibility for establishing auditing standards for public
companies, while the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the AICPA establishes auditing standards for
private companies. The ASB previously had responsibility for establishing auditing standards for both
public and private companies (Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010). Existing auditing standards were adopted
by the PCAOB as interim auditing standards for public company audits (Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010).

  • 2. Blasphemy Law Research Paper The Blasphemy Law that Malala mentioned in Chapter 17 restricted Pakistani citizens freedom in beliefs. They are not allowed to speak their mind out against the Holy Quran without being sentenced to death. The Blasphemy Law definitely contradicts of one Jinnah s speeches which was about people of all religions being free to worship in the new Pakistan (222). This also ties in with Malala thinking Jinnah would be disappointed with the poor changes in Pakistan. According to Malala, the killing of Osama bin Laden had opened the Pakistani s eyes to see that even though the U.S. and the Pakistani were supposed to be allies but when the U.S. needed help the Pakistani government did not help. Malala didn t seem to give it any attention, in fact, she isn t afraid of death, her mindset is definitely not like any average children. Everyone will eventually die when their time comes. Malala doesn t seem to want to waste her time on worrying and try to continue with her daily life. Malala goes into such vivid detail about everything that happened on the day she was shot because it was the day that changes everything. She described her last normal day, doing what she normally do and worrying about persuading people to let girls go to school instead of the shooting that happened. Impact Of Blaxploitation Films In The Black Power Movement The Impact Of Blaxploitation films in the black power movement During the 1960s African Americans began to start a black power movement to overcome severe oppression. Prior to the black power movement, African Americans were practicing a non violent civil rights movement that believed in integrated marches and peaceful sit ins. According to the World Bank, PPP broadly refers to arrangements, typically medium to long term, between the public and private sectors whereby part of the services or works that fall under the responsibilities of the public sector are provided by the private sector, with clear agreement on shared objectives for delivery of public infrastructure and/ or public services. PPP has the ability to link the expertise in the private sector and the control in the public sector. The projects include metro and rail scheme and PTB had taken steps in preparing them for the private sector. The metro and rail would become the largest private sector projects if they get approved. The MPA (Mega Project Agency) designs and implements the infrastructure projects in Kuwait. In 2008 a new BOT (Build Operate Transfer) law was passed as Kuwait recognized the requirement to attract foreign investors and start the development plan. BOT is the method through which private sector would be involved in mega projects under the Kuwait development plan. The new law was a model of PPP according to which, the private investors would build and operate for a fixed time frame and benefit from the revenue streams. In Kuwait time frame was usually 20 40 years after which it would be transferred to the government. Despite all the optimism, the government did not sign any BOT contracts and 31.4% projects or $61.2 billion worth of projects were held or called off. It is a debt security, under which the issuer owes the holders a debt and, depending on the terms of the bond, is obliged to pay them interest (the coupon) and/or to repay the principal at a later date, termed the maturity. Interest is usually payable at fixed intervals (semi annual, annual, and sometimes monthly). Very often the bond is negotiable, i.e. the ownership of the instrument can be transferred in the secondary market. In A Death in the Family, the characters are very set in stone with their beliefs. Prostitution is associated with a great deal of crime, such as human trafficking, sexual assault/rape, and the demoralization of a human body. Therefore, legalizing prostitution increases the demand for immoral behavior within our society. One form of illegal prostitution is streetwalking. This is where ... Meaning if you do good, good will be done onto you, therefore we should make moral decisions because it determines the ethical outcome. However, he also believes that is it not possible to help others without helping ourselves. Prostitution correlates within Kant s theory because it evaluates the moral issue of whether the service of prostitution is degrading ones body. Prostitutes allow men, who are willing to pay, to use their bodies to as methods of pleasure towards men. Therefore, according to Kant, the demoralization of a woman s body, resulting from prostitution is considered immoral because it violates the formulation of means to an end , signifying that all persons are valuable and using them to satisfy our desires is deemed inappropriate. Within the Catholic Church, prostitution is deemed a sin because it defies the principles of a human body being a temple of God. Corinthians 6:19 states, What? • 13. Analysis Of The Sweet Hereafter By Mitchelll Stephens The Man with a Mission, Mitchell Stephens Sometimes there is a situation that one is dragged in to, such as some type of accident. For example, Mitchell Stephens is one of the narrators in The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks. In his side of the story, he is a lawyer from New York who heard about a bus accident in Sam Dent where ten children died in a bus crash. Mitchell is also the one lawyer representing Risa Walker and her husband in a negligence suit that financially compensated them for the loss of their son Sean. Mitchell is not only just a lawyer like many others but also had more experience. He sympathizes with the parents who lost their children in the accident because like these parents who lost their children he also has a daughter Zoe, who is he can consider dead due to her drug problem. To this reason, Mitchell Stephen has the most to gain by telling his tale to the reader because he seeks to relieve himself from his grief and to help future children riding to school who do not have to come to the same fate as others in the accident. One reason why Mitchell is trying to gain something by telling his tale is that he trying to help the people who lost their children in the accident. Mitchell might a lawyer but he did not come to San Dent just because there was a good case like the bus accident and he it was good pay, no, not Mitchell, he even said it himself that he did not come for the money as Mitchell said people immediately assume we re greedy, that it s money we re after, people call us ambulance chasers and so on, like we re the proctologists of the profession, and, yes, there is lots of those ((Banks 90). The reason he came to San Dent was that he was angry because he knows this was not just an accident as he Mitchell said I knew at once that it wasn t an accident at all. There are no accidents. (Banks 91). Mitchell wanted to help the people from San Dent by making them as angry as he was. To forget about their grief and Point their anger to the one who is the culprit. Other reason to why Mitchell is the one narrator in The Sweet Hereafter that is trying to gain something by telling his tale is because of him a man on a mission. In The Importance of the Vote Pankhurst elaborates on this further. She takes the issues that concern women that are controlled by men to help get her point across, on how if women were allowed to vote it could change for the better. Pankhurst mentions, We should have equal laws for divorce, and the law should recognize that they have two parents (34). She talks about how when parents are married, the mom is responsible for the child and the same goes for when the parents decide to have a divorce. When the parents divorced the mother would have to go out to look for work, which meant the child would not receive proper care. The mom would then have to face time in prison, hence why Pankhurst wanted to have equal laws so there can be a compromise. She also uses another point in that piece on the inheritance laws. Pankhurst mentions, When you look at the laws of inheritance in this country, it makes you smile to hear that argument...Men have taken very good care that women do not inherit until all male heirs are exhausted (35). Men have oppressed women from having any type of control over owning land. They would give it to the oldest male heir or the next male making it unfair for women. One common phenomenon was clearly defined and explained the most important indicator of immigrant success in adapting to American culture, segmented assimilation. Kasinitz defines segmented assimilation as various outcomes of the second generation based on different opportunities and social network (Kasinitz Mollenkopf, 7). He then provides examples of how public intuitions, such as Urban High School in New York City contribute to this theory by racializing and genderizing their students (Kasinitz Mollenkopf, 28 49). The micro aggressions experienced by the Dominican male students of Urban High School, such as the interactions between teachers and students in classroom settings are representative of larger processes that are components of institutionalized racism The lived experience of these students contributes to the disparities in education seen among the second generation, which ultimately diminishes their opportunities and social networks (Kasinitz Mollenkopf, 29). Solar power is the process of obtaining the energy from the sun and converting it to multiple uses. It can be used to light, heat, and cool homes for cheaper than electric companies. Solar power is created by using a device called a solar panel. Solar panels are used to soak up the sun s rays to create renewable energy for homes and businesses. Solar power is saved during the daylight so that it can be used during the night. If it is a cloudy day; enough energy can be preserved. If it isn t, the solar panel can still get the energy it needs if the sun s rays shine through the clouds. On a cloudy day, the thicker the clouds the less energy obtained(U.S. Department of Energy,2009). Solar power is mostly used in places with the most sunshine. For example, they are majorly used in places in the United States like California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Another good place to have solar panels is in other countries, especially close to the equator. Close to the equator is a good spot for the use of solar panels because the sun s rays are stronger there. The process of creating the Solar panel is not an easy process. Her eyes are storms; but, behind the eyes, her mind is a pond. Nature s mind has a visible surface, but also an entirely hidden world of the unknown water of subliminal thought. In To Paint a Water Lily by Ted Hughes illustrates the intricacies of a pond to depict an understanding that nature is complex than what is comprehensible. Moreover, Hughes argues that in order to create an accurate portrait of one aspect of nature, such as a water lily, one must understand its environment. Hughes begins the poem by distinguishing the water and the sky, thus in the opening line the author has already complicated nature s depiction. These statements had no validity, but traveled quickly throughout the Caribbean and America. The practitioners of voodoo embraced this fear as means to frighten their former masters and gain some respect in a world where they were deprived of everything. Former slave owners quickly found themselves duped into the beliefs of voodoo dolls and hexes. Of course, many slave owners simply killed their slaves rather than be frightened by the voodoo. When debating the issue of police use of force, the issue of what actions constitute too much force must also be addressed. Another concern is the possibility of corruption amount officers. When given such great power, the probability of corruption is high. Officers generally do not start out as corrupt, but years of work on the force can create animosity between officers and suspects and lead them to decide to use force more quickly (McEwen, 1996). Many times, officers patrol the streets alone which creates the opportunity for potential abuse of power (McEwen, 1996). • 31. Perseverance Is The Essence Of Boyhood Perseverance is the essence of Boyhood. Through several different households, an array of living situations, different levels of poverty, and a plethora of experiences; we see Mason overcome coercion in school, at home, and in his own mind. Through what may seem as unfavorable situations Mason emerges as an individual with a positive out look on the rest of his life. What made him this way? Was it his moms support and the way she raised him and his sister? Did seeing his mom start from basically nothing and picking herself up and making something out of nothing help give Mason a spark of ambition? Maybe it was all the things his father told him that stuck with him through all these years and gave him the motivation to always keep his head up and not let bad moments make up a bad life. If none of this gave us the outcome we got, then was it predisposition from the day Mason was born to be kind, gentle, shy, and a mostly positive person? Mason, his mom, and his sister did not let being poor define them. His mom did not succumb to the negativity of several bad relationships, troublesome times, and abuse from all angles. She could have let all these things define her but she kept her head up and overcome these obstacles. What made her be this way? What gives people this drive to be better? We could look at the opposite end of things and ask what makes people not want to be better. • 32. Political Representation Of Political Violence When embarking on a study of the representation of political violence in drama, it is essential first of all to establish some agreed upon terms and frames of reference, and some reasonably stable understanding of the object of study. Political violence as a subject for dramatic representation can be seen as a special category of what is called political drama more generally. Political drama can be understood to include such ingredients as the clash of political philosophies and strategies in concrete situations, the struggle for political power through democratic or extra democratic means, the maneuverings, triumphs and defeats of parties, groups and classes in pursuit of their political goals, and the ceaseless weighing of ends and means in that pursuit. As a field of human activity and commitment, politics, broadly defined, has furnished material for a huge number of plays, engaging audiences in the recurring variations of personal and political dilemmas. Some of these plays can be seen to have the overt aim of changing or reinforcing the spectators understanding and political alignment; others present the spectacle of human behavior in the political realm in an ostensibly neutral way. The dramatic representation of political violence addresses more specifically the call to violent action, armed struggle, the readiness to fight and to kill, in the pursuit or defence of political ends. It can, to a considerable extent, be analyzed in the terms and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Summary Of The Bhagavad Gita The Bhagavad Gita, which means the song of the lord, is a part of the Mahabharata. It is a story about the discourse between Arjuna, a prince, and Lord Krishna, who is an incarnation of the highest of all divinity, creator of the entire universe. In the book, Arjuna is confused about his duty, dharma, to the law of an elite warrior and kinship. It is Krishna who helps guide and encourage Arjuna to follow his true path, svadharma. The book discusses three broad ways to live: devotion to god (bhakti), karma, and jnana yoga which is practice and discipline. The Bhagavad Gita adapts and reformulates many ideas of soul, karma, and ritual from Vedic sacrifice, the Upanishads, and Buddhism. These three concepts are the major themes and are all interrelated with one another. The Bhagavad Gita adopts and adapts the concept of karma from Buddhism, the Upanishads and Vedic sacrifice. The concept of karma means action. In Vedic sacrifice and the Upanishads, karma is associated with a ritual action. It was believed that by having rituals being performed by saints on their behalf, one could improve the quality of their rebirth in the next life. The sacrificer would ask the gods for strength, wealth, children, and immortality. In the Upanishads, karma is also associated to the ideas of atman, self soul, and brahman, soul. The purpose of jnana yoga is to achieve the Upanishads core teachings of the equivalence of the atman and the brahman. The Buddha changed the concept of karma ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Francis Of Assisi Religion Moreover, he did not even keep his drawers, but stripped himself stark naked before all the bystanders. This does not sound like the description of a typical Saint, but Francis of Assisi was certainly not a typical Saint. His devotion to Jesus Christ was unmatched as he dedicated his life to authentically following the ways of his Savior. Initially, Francis undertaking of replicating the life of Jesus over a millennium removed from his time on Earth was not taken well by Italian society and many considered him to be a madman. His methods and ways were appalling to many at the time. Ironically, his devotedness to Christianity was most threatening to the institution of the Church itself. Lepers were only able to approach a town at night and they needed to ring a bell to warn others of their presence. Lepers were major outcasts of Italian society, and even Francis himself was not fond of lepers in his youth, but he learned to love them. His faith in God was so strong that when he encountered a leper near Assisi, He leapt from his horse and ran to embrace him. When the leper stretched forth his hand as though to receive an alms, he kissed it, and then put money therein. The thought of kissing a leper was horrifying at the time, but this shows how Francis loved all. Throughout his life he would continually visit the dwellings of lepers and provide them with what little he had. He also would kiss both their hands and faces as well as bathe their feet, bind their sores, and kiss their wounds. Francis ran counter to the norms of society as he expressed no prejudices against the lepers. While many thought of outcasts and beggars as a nuisance Francis believed that, The one who begs for the love of God must be, on the contrary, at ease and joyful, for he is claiming only what is his due. Francis would always side with the lowly over those in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Examples Of Phoniness In Catcher In The Rye Phoniness in The Catcher in the Rye In our society, we all hide our true nature and act in ways to please others or to appear differently. One example of this is when many are with friends, as seen in the song The Art of Peer Pressure by Kendrick Lamar, a track in the album good kid, m.A.A.d city. In it, the song describes a youth who is misled by his friends, and despite not truly enjoying what he does, partakes in drug and alcohol abuse with his friends, and eventually, partake in gang violence. As the youth, K.Dot, stays more with his friends, he performs actions that he declares he had never done before, and only does it because of peer pressure. This self destructive behavior is another one of the many created by his worldview of others as phonies . One example can be seen in page 75, where Holden states that life itself makes [him] so depressed. This shows us how his worldview that focuses on the negative aspects of everyone could be problematic, as it leads Holden on to develop depression. Another example can be seen in Chapter 7, where Holden states I just didn t want to hang around any more. It made me too sad and lonesome. (page 29) His motivation to leave Pencey Prep is shown to be one of having developed depression after seeing everyone there as phonies. Once again, this displays a prime example of how Holden s idea of phonies can lead to self destructive actions such as developing depression. A third example of this can be found towards the end of the book, where Holden straight up states that he really felt like, committing suicide. (104) By this point, we see the final phase of his depression created by his phony worldview, presenting an extremely self destructive behavior and mindset in depression. Holden develops depression through his worldview of others as phonies , which shows how problematic his worldview truly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Persuasive Speech On Government Reform Sir: On the occasion of the one year anniversary of your inauguration as President of the United States, THE CRISIS wrote this letter to mark the momentous affair. Sir, you have now been President for twelve months, and what is the result? You have systematically broken all your promises and failed your constituency. Over a year ago, voters were whisked away in your fantasies of greater America, and now they are all rendered sober by the new reality. You give strength to your rich friends and donors, while the people who voted for you, who hoped of a stronger, more prosperous economic future, are victims of your latest tragic endeavor. Within this past month, you have vehemently advocated for the new tax plan, which intends to drastically cut taxes, while broadening the base . You promised to eliminate unwanted loopholes, tax breaks, and special favors. You assured voters that there would be a new tax system, where less time and energy would be wasted on gaming the system to reduce taxes, and for a tax system that would become fairer. However, this plan is not fulfilling your promises, because it will cut too many taxes without raising enough revenue to support the government. This will result in hurting the middle class, while creating a devastating deficit. Thirty seven out of thirty eight economists agreed that your bill will create a deficit that substantially increases the national debt in a short period of time. Do you even know what s in the projected 5.9 trillion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
