Michelangelo s The Serpent In Adam And Eve
The serpent in Adam and Eve by Michelangelo is strong and large opposed to the serpent in Adam and
Eve by Cranach who is humble and small. The serpent in Adam and Eve by Michelangelo looks as if
he is half man. The lower part of his body looks like a large snake that is wrapped around the trunk of
the tree. The top half of the serpent is a strong, muscular man looking as if he has the most power out
of everyone in the piece of art. The strength that comes off of the half man shows assertive influences
over Adam and Eve but especially over Eve. He is influencing Eve directly by handing the forbidden
fruit to her. This comes off as pressuring her to take the fruit from him. The serpent in Michelangelo s
art, Adam and Eve, is clearly seen in the

Dollar General Financial Analysis Essay
This analysis contains references to years 2010 and 2009 for Dollar General Corporation, which
represent fiscal years ended January 28, 2011 and January 29, 2010 respectively. The main issues
which the company is concerned about are its ability to increase sales and profitability and reduce
costs in the current economic situation; another issue is an ability to repay an extensive amount of
long term debt which increases its risks. Analysis of profitability The rate of return on assets for
Dollar General for 2010 was 6.8% thus for each dollar the company used it earned $0.068. For 2009
ROA was 3.8%, so ROA increased between 2009 and 2010 fiscal years. Profit Margin for ROA is
4.8% for 2010 and for 2009 is 2.9%. We can see an increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It decreased by 20 percent over a year which means that the company successfully paid a part of its
long term loans. Cash flow from operations to total liabilities ratio for 2010 is 15.1% and for 2009 is
11.7%. Financially healthy company has cash flow from operations to total liabilities ratio of 20% or
more. Dollar General has a high long term liquidity risk. Interest coverage Ratio for 2010 is 3.6 and
for 2009 is 1.6. A high fluctuation makes the company risky, although it exceeded a 3.0 benchmark in
2010 it should show this stability over time. In conclusion, financial statements of Dollar General
present the increase in company s profitability and sales over the last two years, they reduced their
expenses as well. The only information that the statements do not disclose is which brands of
merchandise increased their sales, and what was the cost of goods sold compared to the profit they
made. Since the company was concerned about promotion of their private brand it would be helpful to
know what percent of sales does their private brand make comparison to other brands. Nevertheless,
the long term liquidity risk does not look as safe. The company will have to show the stability in its
ratios overtime to insure investors that it has low risk and is able to repay its debt in a long run as well
as maintain stable

The Celebration Of The Concert
I gotta tell you something, alright? It s a little motto to live by. It basically goes like this: There s going
to be times in your life when people say you can t do something, and there s going to be times in your
life when people say you can t live your dreams, and there s going to be times when people say you
can t sell out Madison Square Garden. This is what I tell them: NEVER SAY NEVER Justin Bieber....
That is exactly what popped into my head when Lupita calls me and I find out the Purpose tour tickets
were going on sale. We call Karla and start saying that we have to go to this concert. We start begging
for the tickets but all our parents end up saying no. Weeks go by and we re still begging for the tickets.

The concert is in a few day and we still haven t gotten together. As of now it looks like it ll be a
complete disaster. The day before the concert my mom finally call Karla s mom and come to the
conclusion that they re going to give me a ride to the concert and Lupita is riding with her mom and
Jackie. The day finally arrives and we re all so eager to see him live. And just the thought that I m
going to be breathing the same air as him just blows me away. They pick me up, and on our way there
Karla and I just jam out to, Justin Bieber. When we arrive there s already fans outside 4 hours before
the concert even starts, that just means they re die hard fans like us. As soon as we get out, the 90º air
hits me and I m starting to wonder when we ll start sizzling? We wait outside and it s so hot but were
first in line to get in the arena, everyone was dehydrated and they wouldn t even open the doors like a
few minutes before the doors actually open, one girl even fainted.. When they finally opened and we
went inside it was so cold it gave me the chills. But we still had to wait 1 hour before the concert even
started. So we found our seats in the meantime and tried to get something to eat. Lupita finally arrives
and so we just talk for the remaining time. The lights begin to flicker and they suddenly turn off. We

New Asembling Forms Of The Industrial Revolution
In the eighteenth century, the Industrial Revolution was the progress to new assembling forms
introducing machines for the manufacture of textile goods that were speedier and more productive
than individuals. Logical advances in mechanical development, agriculture, modern creation, and
financial extension sparked the inventions of the spinning jenny (1765) created by James Hargreaves,
allowed more wool to be spun at a time increasing production. In 1775, James Watt invented the steam
engine which was used to pump water and air into and out of the coal mines. As new and improved
editions of the steam engine was created, new forms of transportation became available such as the
steamboat and the railroad. The power loom ( also in 1775) created

Dove Controversial Adverts
This article was about the controversial ad Dove came out with a couple of months ago. It involves a
black woman taking off her shirt and revealing a white woman underneath. This ad received a lot of
criticism and backlash. The first time I saw this I was on Instagram. I couldn t believe Dove would do
that knowing the society which we live in. People are fighting for justice and equality for the black. It
s shocking they would be ignorant enough to put out this ad. After doing some research, I saw the
whole video. People had taken only one specific part of the ad. No one included the part when the
white woman pulls her shirt up, then another woman of a darker complexion is revealed underneath.

This quaint, little cafe was a love child of two theatre artists, who loved coffee but always struggled to

Chronic Blepharitis
Chronic blepharitis is a very common cause of ocular discomfort and irritation. The poor correlation
between symptoms and signs, uncertain aeitiology and mechanisms of the disease process all combine
to make management difficult. Anterior blepharitis affects the area surrounding the bases of the
eyelashes and may be staphyloccoccal or seborrhoeic. Posterior blepharitis is caused by meibomian
gland dysfunction and alterations in meibomian gland secretions. It is commonly thought of as a more
persistent and chronic inflammatory condition than anterior blepharitis and there is an association with
rosacea1.

Children under 12 years of age The use of drugs of the tetracycline class, including doxycycline,
during tooth development may cause permanent discolouration of the teeth (yellow grey brown). This
adverse reaction is more common during long term use of the medication but has been observed

Methodology
Sample and Participants
For the purposes of this study, the method used to select participants was convenience sampling.
Therefore, 30 students from the University of the Ozarks located in Clarksville, Arkansas, were
selected to participate in the study. The ages of the students ranged between 18 and 25 years. In order
to conduct this study, a control group and an experimental group were created consisting of 15
members each. The first group was the experimental group where the participants were required to
own an iPhone and download an app. The second group was the control group where participants
owned any type of smartphones and did not have to download a specific app. The reason students had

At the end of the 24 hour period, the students recorded the amount of time they actually used their
smartphone according to the Moment app. This procedure was performed for two days. At the end of
the second day, these students completed the post test. The post test consisted of three questions based
on the Likert Scale. The first question asked whether their estimations matched those of the app; the
second question asked whether they were surprised with the results; the last one, questioned their
likeliness of changing their cellphone use. The control group, on the other hand, only completed a pre
test consisting of a two question survey, which asked the students whether they were aware of the time
they spent on their smartphones and whether they were likely to change the amount of time spent on
their smartphones.
Results
Control Group A total of 30 students participated in the study, 15 downloaded the Moment app and 15
only estimated the amount of time spent on smartphones. Both groups obtained interesting results.
Firstly, the results of the study showed that people in the experimental group estimated using their
iPhone less than the students in the control group. Correspondingly, as observed in appendix VI, the
first group had a median estimation of 159 hours, while the second group had a median estimation of
298.47 hours. When asked whether students were likely to change their smartphone

These pressures have been added to by interventions from the regulator requiring the company to cut
charges to consumers.
Vodafone is the market leader in the UK. In terms of retail revenue market share in the first quarter of
this year the company had 32.5% of the market compared to its rivals Orange (25.7%), O2 (22.4%),
and T mobile (19.4%). Oftel the telecommunications regulator states that demand is strong and still
growing for mobiles. UK mobile subscribers exceeded 50 million during the period April to June
2003, and in May 75% of UK adults owned or used a mobile phone. Call volumes increased by 5%
and messaging volumes by 4% in the first quarter. However, the Klondyke period of growth in the
UK, during which people were buying and using mobile phones for the first time is clearly over with
sales year on year change down from the heady height of 90% to still very substantial level of 32 % in
2003. The expectation must be that the company will find it difficult to maintain even this level of
growth in a highly competitive market that is moving towards stability.

Case Study Analysis Paper 1: A Tale of Two Coaches
Based on our learning from week one of our class, the purpose of this paper is to discuss the
leadership perspectives manifested in both Bobby Knight and Mike Krzyzewski, coaches who have
made significant marks in their field in college basketball. I hope to be able to identify the power
bases both coaches rely upon, as well as whether their actions are more aligned with either a
managerial role or leadership role. In addition, I hope to identify how significant the leadership traits
have influenced their leadership, based on the five factor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coach K clearly shows all the traits of agreeableness, which is the extent to which a person is
generous, kind, appreciative, sympathetic, forgiving, and trusting. Also both coaches can be said to be
conscientiousness, as they are efficient, organized, reliable, responsible, and thorough in their pursuit
of excellence. Coach Knight clearly displays neuroticism and his unstable, self pitying, touchy,
anxious, tense, and worrisome attitude comes clearly through as displayed through rants and berating
of his players. I can also agree that both coaches are open to experience, as their coaching skills
although one hundred and eighty degrees apart, do show signs of introspective, imaginative,
insightful, and originality, and both have a wide range of interests outside of basketball. In conclusion,
Although Coach K was originally mentored by Coach Knight as both a player and as an assistant
coach; they both have adopted different styles of leadership. They appear to be almost polar opposites,
yet have both managed to have done well in their respective field. As the late Emanuel Rohn once
said, The challenge of leadership is to be strong but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not a
bully; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly . If only
Coach Knight had followed this simple statement, how much further would he have gone?

Kkbg In America Summary
Spies: The Rise and Fall of the KGB in America is a book written by John Earl Haynes. the book goes
into very specific detail of the activity of the KGB in the United States during the 1930 s and 1940 s.
This book which was written with the KGB archives formed the most complete source of soviet
espionage in America. Co author of the book Alexander Vassiliev was given access to stalin era
records and material of Soviet espionage activity against the United States. Haynes also presented a
webcast for this book through the Library of Congress. In the Webcast Haynes spoke about the
background information of his book Spies. Haynes also explained the different sources he used to
write the book, and the validity of those sources. Watching the webcast I learned the importance of
having multiple primary sources when writing a book about history. Not only are primary sources
important, but being able to connect those primary sources to one another proves the information is
valid. Haynes did a wonderful job explaining the connections between sources he used to write Spies,
which turned out to be most of his presentation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wanted to learn how the KGB came into our country and why. Although I was disappointed that the
webcast did not go into very much detail about KGB operations or spies, I did learn a great amount
about using primary sources when writing about History and facts. The reason I will buy and read
John Haynes book Spies is because after watching the webcast I know the information is valid and I
know it is a topic I am now interested in studying further. I believe the records, information, pictures,
and facts given in Haynes webcast presentation were to verify his sources and let scholars know that
his book is based on truth. This is very important to students and scholars when searching for proper

Analysis Of Millay s Lost Love
An Analysis of Millay s Lost Love in Poetry
Poetry is a unique way of telling a story in which the medium in question shows instead of tells. They
come in all sorts of styles from a Haiku to Free Verse. Some of them are very clear as to what they are
about while others can be convoluted and they have to think about for a while. The message in the
poem could be about anything. Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote about a variety of topics mostly about
the pain of loss from either death, break up, etc. Everyone at some point learns what it is like to lose a
loved one and after reading these it could help to them to cope. To lose someone one loves can be very
difficult, how one copes with that is varied but there is bound to be a Millay poem to help with that.
Time does not bing relief; you all have lied is a poem in which Millay describes the voraciousness of
his or her pain after having lost someone near and dear to them. Within this fourteen line sonnet they
depict the variety of ways they miss them and are reminded of them in their daily life. There are a
hundred places where I fear To go, so with his memory they brim! ( Millay 56). Within a poem the
author has only so much space to convey all they wish to say. To tell a tale and have the audience to be
able to feel and relate to it. Millay shows how with the passing of each season, the changes in the
weather how no matter the time that has passed she continues to miss them. I miss him in the weeping
of the rain; I

Corn Vs Corn Essay
America grows a lot of corn. Of all the different grains grown here more than 95% of it is corn. While
corn is grown in most every state, most corn is grown in the Heartland, which is what the middle of
the country is sometimes called. Illinois and Iowa, two states in the Heartland, produce 30% of all
corn in America.
Do you enjoy corn of the cob in the summer time? Most of us do, but do Americans eat all this corn
that they grow? No, we do not eat it all, but we do eat quite a bit of it. Sometimes we eat corn without
realizing it!
Corn on the cob or corn in your dinner are obvious ways to eat corn. There are less obvious ways, too.
Corn can be processed, or made, into sweeteners and oils. Sweeteners are added to other foods to
make them sweet. Corn syrup is a sweetener used to make many things, ... Show more content on

Corn can also be made in to cereal, grits, or flour. Grits are kind of like oatmeal, but made with corn.
The corn is dried and ground up. Then, the grits can be mixed with water or milk. Many people enjoy
a bowl of warm grits at breakfast. Flour is made in a similar way to grits but is ground to be very fine,
like regular flour. Americans rely on corn in their diet.
Farmers and other people in agriculture also rely on corn. A lot of corn is used to feed cows and other
animals like pigs and chickens. How much corn that livestock is fed depends on the cost. Farmers may
choose to feed their animals something different if corn costs too much. Or, they may choose to feed
their livestock something different if there is not enough corn for the animals. In some years, not
enough corn is grown to meet all the needs that we have.
Lastly, corn is used to make a fuel. This fuel is called ethanol. In some places ethanol is mixed with
gasoline to run cars and other vehicles. Next time you are at a gas station, look at the gas pump to see
if it says that the fuel contains ethanol. If it does, then you are putting corn into your

Foxtrot Dance History
The Fox Trot Approaching the 20th century it was hard to pick just one topic to write on. Since I did
not have a good understanding on what the Fox Trot was or how it originated, I decided to dig into
some research. After spending some time I had found that the Fox Trot was one of the most famous
dances at this particular time. The Fox Trot is defined as a ballroom dance that has alternating two
quick steps and two slow steps. The long walking movements involve a subtle rise fall action. Turning
movements are similar to Waltz, but with a more moderate rise and fall, and more length wise action (
Foxtrot Dance Steps in Ballroom Dance. ). When researching I found that the Fox Trot was associated
with the Vaudeville era and was named after the Vaudeville actor, Harry fox. Although, that was not
his real name, he was born with the name Arthur Carringford in Pomona, California, but in 1882, he
adopted the stage name of Fox after his grandfather ( Foxtrot Dance History Origins of Ballroom

The Disquieting Duckling Asger Jorn
The Disquieting Duckling by Asger Jorn (1959) is oil on canvas painting. The style of this painting is
Neo Dada, a movement with audio, visual and literary manifestations that had similarities in method
or intent with earlier Dada artwork. Asger Jorn played a massive role in this movement. The title
refers to a fairy tale by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen called The Ugly Duckling. The
story is about a duckling that is born in a corral and who suffers abuse from his surroundings until,
much to his delight and the surprise of others, matures into a beautiful swan, the most beautiful bird of
all. In the story, there are descriptions of this idyllic scenery, where all appears to be nice and beautiful
but is not. They feel disturbed by the duckling because it is different and does not fit in. ... Show more

The duckling was printed on the image. Another reason why the duckling is misplaced in this painting,
is that it is not formally a part of the art. It is a painting found at a flea market that Jorn has modified.
He makes only the abstracted elements, but since he chose to paint on this exact surface, it holds a
great significance as his adjustments. The Painting can roughly be divided into two. The left side of
the natural elements and the house that is made by an unknown painter and with its naturalistic style is
in high contrast to the right side with the duckling made by Asger Jorn himself. The duckling is
painted with very aggressive brush strokes that creates a movement in the figure. It has an extensive
range of colors uses primary and secondary pure colors to produce light. The placement of the house
gives a geometric element in the composition with the straight lines. The house is an essential part of
the painting because it adds the geometrical element and the element of humans in what otherwise is
nature and abstracted organic shapes. The bottom base is somewhat neutral and unifies the two

Conformity Vs. Normative Information
From the time we are very little, the number one source for correct facts has always been on the news.
Yet after recently learning about conformity involving informational versus normative information, it
opened my eyes further to understand how influenced society is as a whole. Another similar example
that has been growing recently is social media. Instead of flipping on the news stations, it is just as
popular now for individuals to look up information on the internet. Although just like how news
stations are biased and only hold true to the sources they support, as do websites on the internet. What

Abstract
The state of the U.S. economy has an impact on every American. There has been economic depression
in this country since the collapse of the housing market in 2007, that has seen widespread
unemployment and home foreclosure combined with conservative consumer spending. Research
conducted through financial new websites, government reports and survey provided information on

approximately 13.1 million unemployed people in America according to the report by the Bureau of
Labor Statistics. This is equal to an unemployment rate of 8.5% ( Employment Situation Summary ,
2012 p.1). These numbers may sound high very high; however, they actually represent a significant
decline in unemployment as the rate has fallen 0.6% since August of 2011. The release by BLS

Similarities Between France and Canada’s Health Care System
Many would agree that a worthy, controlled health system, above all, should essentially contribute to
good health. The responsibility of a health care system is that the organization of people, institutions,
and resources deliver the health care services required and meet the health needs of focus populations.
Another duty that the health care systems stimulate is the reduction of inequality to race, gender,
social status and religion. Each health care system is different when looking at specific countries
across the world, however some countries are more similar than others, such as France and Canada s
health care system. These two countries have numerous similarities when examining their health care
systems, conversely that does not denote that both France and Canada are just as equivalent as the
other. When observing countless aspects, such as longevity and infant mortality, as well as a lot of the
inputs such as doctors or beds per capita, and of course the total expenditure on health as a percentage
of GDP over the year, it is seen that France has a better and more enhanced health care system than
Canada.
One major issue that differentiation France s health care system opposed to Canada s is the wait times,
French citizens wait minimal minutes compared to those in Canada. Canadians can t overlook the
reality of wait times when it comes to their health care system, it usually takes up to months for
diagnostic tests or MRIs, and for emergency care it can take up to

Postpartum Depression ( Ppd )
Grase Garlobo Professor N. Hammond ENC 1101 23 October 2015 Postpartum Depression (PPD) The
birth of a baby can trigger powerful emotions such as joy, excitement, maybe some fear and anxiety.
But it can also trigger something you did not expect depression. The depression is called postpartum
depression, or also known as postnatal depression, it s a type of depression that can affect both the
mother and the father. This is most likely to happen after giving birth or up to a year later. But it
usually occurs within the first three months after delivery. Postpartum depression doesn t actually have
a specific cause but it is mostly caused by the anxiety of the responsibilities of parenthood. (Mayo
Clinic Staff) There s isn t a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of this may play an important role in postpartum depression. If left untreated, postpartum
depression can interfere with parents child attachment and cause family problems later on in life. For
mothers, untreated postpartum depression can last for months or up to years, sometimes becoming a
chronic depressive disorder. Even when treated, postpartum depression increases a woman s risk of
future episodes of major depression. For fathers, postpartum depression can have a ripple effect,
causing emotional damage for everyone close to a new baby. According to the Mayo Clinic Staff,
When a new mother is depressed, the risk of depression in the baby s father may also increase . New
dads are already at a highly risk of depression, whether or not the mother is affected. Children of
parents who have untreated postpartum depression are most likely to have emotional and behavior
problems, such as sleeping and eating disorders, excessive crying, and attention deficit/hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD). And will also delay in language development. Treatment and recovery time vary on
the mother or father and depending on the seriousness of the depression. Postpartum depression is
usually treated with psychotherapy or mostly known as talking therapy, medication, or sometimes it
can be both at the same time. Psychotherapy, may help for the parent(s) talk through their troubles

Informative Essay About Massage
There are many types of massage, each with their own benefits to relieve stress, pain or enhance
general wellbeing. Massage is an ancient art with many variations depending on the country of origin.
I explore some of the most popular, explaining the treatment and their individual benefits.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage, the most popular worldwide, is also known as Classic massage and is the
foundation for most other types of Western massage. It involves using firm but gentle pressure to
promote relaxation, working on areas of specific muscle tension. It is performed on bare skin using
oils or lotions. The therapist uses their hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers
of the muscles. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues

The West has caught on to its benefits using it as a quick de stressing program.
Indian Head Massage is a very relaxing treatment which, as the name suggests, focuses on massaging
the head. Indian Head Massage (Champissage) also includes massage of the shoulders, upper arms,
neck, scalp, face and ears. The treatment uses a range of different movements including deep kneading
and compression movements over the neck, shoulder and scalp areas. Performed sitting upright in a
chair, it helps to clear the mind as it revitalizes and improves alertness and concentration levels, whilst
improving joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders.
Reflexology Massage
Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is based on the concept that there are reflex areas on the feet
and hands that correspond to specific organs, glands, and other parts of the body. The underlying
theory is that if pressure is applied to a specific reflex area, it affects the organ

Example Of Child Motivation For A Child Observation Of A...
For my field observation I visited a children s playgroup. It was a mommy and me type of playgroup
where the mothers would be with their children in the room while the children wandered around and
played. The group was run by my cousin s wife who I will refer to throughout the paper as E. There
was a total of 11 people at this playgroup. The ages of the children ranged from six months to a little
over five years old. All the children were caucasian and came from a middle to upper middle class
family. All the families I will talk about live in the Northern Virginia region. I have changed the names
of the children and their mothers for privacy. The playgroup consisted of four different families. The
first family consisted of E and her three children. E has dizygotic twin girls who are three years old,
and one more daughter who is one year old. The second family consisted of the mother who I ll call S,
and her three year old daughter. The third family consisted of the mother who I will call L, and her
two and a half year old daughter and six month old son. The fourth family consisted of the mother
who I will call M, and her son who was a little over five years old. All the families who attended these
playgroup sessions knew one another. E and M are sisters, S is E s neighbor, and L is a friend of E.
These group play sessions are a biweekly event that occurs at E s house and are held in E s living
room. E has set up the living room to be a safe area where the children are

Literature, a Contribution to Society Reading, in general has affected all societies in all time periods,
and reading is more than just an everyday task. These two authors affected society in their time, with
their reappraising stories: A Horseman In The Sky and A Rose For Emily. However, William Faulkner
(author of A Rose For Emily) and Ambrose Bierce (author of A Horseman In The Sky) have different
views and affects on society by when the particular story was published, the use of figurative
language, and different genres. Back in the time of these stories there were not as many movies,

Affirmative Action And Its Effect On Minority Minorities...
Affirmative action is described in sociology as, policies and programs that aim to avoid discrimination
and redress past discrimination through the active recruitment of qualified minorities for jobs,
promotions, and educational opportunities. (i.e. Exp. Soc., pg 280). In other words, the law was put in
place as an attempt to create pluralism in the United States structure of opportunity. When describing
affirmative action, the generalized assumption is individuals being handed opportunities based only on
their ethnicity. Whether or not that opinion rings through to the majority, consider the events that lead
to the enactment of affirmative action in the first place. The structure of opportunity in the United
States has always been a biased and unfair in its distribution of opportunities. Since the beginning, the
structure of opportunity has always been in favor of whiter, and ultimately wealthier Americans.
Segregation, discrimination, and complete disregard for people of different ethnicity and color made it
as such.
People of color were seen as an inferior, and ultimately poorer group of people than people who were
white. In earlier time, a metaphorical glass ceiling held back student of different ethnicity from
becoming more educated. The glass ceiling that held them back for so long was the structure of
opportunity being as biased as it is. In essence, the economic conditions, culture, and other aspects of
certain people had an impact on how they lived in society.

Margaret Atwood s Oryx And Crake
In Margaret Atwood s Oryx and Crake, she describes a frightening dystopian futuristic society that
consists of the compounds and the pleeblands. The compounds are home to wealthier class, that work
in industrial plants during the day and enjoy the shopping malls and fancy dining at night. The
pleeblands are nearly the exact opposite. Snowman, the main character of the novel and former
inhabitant of the compounds, describes them as disease infested, drug ridden ghettos. These two
communities could not be further separated. Unfortunately, it appears as if Margaret Atwood s
dystopia is upon us. In Slavoj Zizek s Violence, we are reminded of the time period just several years

Zizek is trying to address a systemic problem of objective violence that is a result of global isolation
and division. He writes on page 102, This new racism of the developed is in a way much more brutal
than the previous ones: its implicit legitimisation is neither naturalist (the natural superiority of the
developed West) nor any longer cultural (we in the West want to preserve our cultural identity), but
unabashed economic egotism. The fundamental divide is one between those included in the sphere of
(relative) economic prosperity and those excluded from it (102). This quote perfectly describes the
global epidemic that we now face, where the global community is so fixated on building walls and
turning our heads to those who do not fit our mold. What is more frightening, however, is that
economic egotism along with racial and sociological isolation is happening on a domestic basis. It s
not as simple as national pride and desire to keep our cultural intact, as Zizek notes. Rather, in the
United States, seen first hand in New Orleans, there is a blatant rejection for those who are not on the
same economic and social platform as ourselves(102). In Oryx and Crake, Margaret Atwood illustrates
a fantastical world with compounds and pleeblands. Over the course of the book the reader is given
many images of the pleeblands. A good example is when

In my opinion Catastrophe theory is more of a model than a theory in that it attempts to predict human
behaviour and performance rather than explaining how it occurs that is why it is not a reliable theory.
the model proposes that performance is affected by the relationship between somatic (Physical)
anxiety and cognitive (Mental) anxiety. when cognitive anxiety is high but somatic anxiety is low
performance is enhanced but when both cognitive and somatic anxiety are high, performance can
suddenly deteriorate. Following this sudden decrease in performance, the performer tries to regain

Intrapersonal Conflict
Intrapersonal conflict reveals itself through different individual attitudes and behaviours. Most of
these attitudes and behaviours may originate from self induced, emotional or inner feelings which may
include frustration and emotional instability. These attitudes or behaviours may lead to absenteeism
and destructive behaviour among individuals in an organization (Hughes, 2001). Poor attitudes and
behaviours which result from intrapersonal conflict usually decrease the performance and efficiency of
an organization. On the other hand when it is managed in the right manner it helps individuals
promote capacity to adapt and attain a balance in the working relations with the organization.
The management of intrapersonal conflicts can be achieved through the implementation of two
strategies which include cognitive strategies and behavioural strategies. Cognitive strategies, often
referred to as defence mechanisms, help an individual to falsify, distort or deny a particular conflict.
Cognitive strategies represent an attempt to control or manage negative and disturbing feelings
associated with conflict and to allow an individual to carry on with his normal activities. Cognitive
strategies include repression (an attempt to push conflict out of existence), rationalization (hiding the
truth from oneself), fantasy or even denial of reality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Basic Classic Threats For It Systems And Data
1. What are the four basic classic threats to IT systems and data? Give an example of each. According
to Mr Moeller, we can classify IT system threats as four main classes. Interruptions: interruption refers
to the situation where an IT component, typically a hardware or a software, gets corrupted or is
completely lost. The main issue behind this kind of thread consists of the disruption of service
provided by that IT component. An example could be someone performing a denial of service on an IT
system by overwhelming network connections. Interceptions: this class encompasses all threat related
with the stealing of, gaining unauthorized access to, data or service. For instance, it could be a
program or a user trying to illegally access another system or data. One example that particularly
applies to this scenario includes eavesdropping communication between system to retrieve or capture
data. Modification: I believe this one could the most dangerous class as any threat that fall into this
categories not only affects/tampers a system but also removes tractability. In other words, this kind of
threat tends to alter system environment without leaving. Thinking of hacking tool such as metasploit,
that is exactly the definition/description of some payload such as reverse shell. A user that managed to
get a reverse shell from a target machine can modify environment parameter such as permission,
process ID of running program as well as deleting log files that may hint plausible

The New Virtual Office Environment
Introduction Often time people find themselves working at odd hours of the day or night in order to
connect with their teams around the globe. Meetings and conference calls are a necessity to conduct
business and expand operations; however, in order to meet this need more and more employees are
working virtually. Conference calls are conducted from home, airports, and automobiles. On line
meetings can be held using applications such as Microsoft Lync that have audio and video capabilities.
Screen sharing will enable everyone to view and discuss documents and presentations from anywhere
and in real time. This not only applies to the CEO of a corporation or a partner in a firm. From the
employee working at any level in the corporate structure to the entrepreneur to the small business
owner use today s technology to conduct business at the best time and place for themselves and their
teams. This is the new virtual office environment.
In the beginning.... The buzz word in 1999 was Y2K. Everyone was concerned that computers would
cease to work and the world would come crashing down around us. It didn t. Instead technology
exploded allowing a new way of working to be ushered in. As far back as 1997 technological
advances such as cell phones, emails, and laptops with modems began our journey toward today s
virtual work environment. Even then two out of three Fortune 500 companies employed
telecommuters (Cascio, 1998). Leaders in the business world embraced the new

Essay On How To Solve The Sparse Approximate Dft Problem
The first work that tried to solve the sparse approximate DFT problem can be found in cite{NYN93},
in which they designed an algorithm based on Hadamard Transform, i.e. the Fourier transform over
the Boolean cube. A polynomial time algorithm to interpolates a sparse polynomial was developed in
cite{Y95}. The method in this paper inspired the authors of cite{GMS05}, in which they described
an algorithm that can be used to approximate DFT when $N$ is a power of 2. In the early 2000s,
people paid a lot of attention to the sparse approximation problem in Fourier space. The first algorithm
with sub linear runtime and the sub sampling property was given in cite{GGIMM02}. In which they

However, it needs to point out that the runtime of the algorithm in cite{AGS03} has a high
dependence on sparsity compare with cite{GGIMM02} and cite{GMS05}.
All the SFT algorithms above are randomized algorithms. This means they have small probability to
fail to give the correct or optimal recovery on each input signal. Thus, they are not appropriate for
long lived failure intolerant applications. The first deterministic sub linear time SFT algorithm was
developed in cite{I08} based on the deterministic Compressed Sensing results of Cormode and
Muthukrishnan (CM)cite{RSR69}cite{CM05}cite{CM06}. A simpler optimized version of this
algorithm was given in cite{I10}, which has similar runtime/sampling bounds ($mathcal{O}(s^2
log ^4 N)$) to the one in cite{GMS05}. Later, in cite{I11}, a further modified SFT algorithm was
provided. It showed simple methods for extending the improved sparse Fourier transforms to higher
dimensional settings. More specifically, the algorithm can find the near optimal $s$ term
approximation for any given input function, $f: [0,2pi]^{D} rightarrow C$ in $mathcal{O}(s^2
D^4)$ time (neglecting logarithmic factors). The algorithms in cite{I08}cite{I10}cite{I11} are all

properties of aliasing among frequencies in sub samples DFTs. The algorithms

Toyota s Case Analysis Of The Toyota Motor Company
Toyota Motor Corporation is an international car manufacturer that is based out of Toyota, Japan.
Toyota started vehicle production in 1933 with the company being a division of Toyoda Automatic
Loom Works devoted to the production of automobiles under the direction of the founder s son,
Kiichiro Toyoda. Throughout the early years of Toyota, they were well known for making highly
desirable vehicles that were efficient and reliable. However, in recent years Toyota has been plagued
with recalls for various reasons. Many of these recalls are safety related issues that have tainted to
company s sterling reputation. For instance, in January 2010, Toyota suspended sales of eight recalled
vehicle models to fix accelerator pedals with mechanical problems that could cause them to become
stuck. In December 2012, Toyota announced an agreement worth more than $1 billion to settle a
lawsuit involving unintended acceleration in some of its vehicles (Wikipedia, 2017). Business experts
believed that it was not necessarily the recall that damaged Toyota s reputation, but rather the way that
the recalls were handled. Many individuals believe that Toyota executives were insincere in their
apologies, and that they did very poorly at explaining the recalls and what the course of correction was
for the problems (Kaufman, 2010). Toyota s CEO, Akio Toyoda, stated in an inter interview that the
company was growing to quickly and was putting growth related goals above quality concerns

  • 2. Michelangelo s The Serpent In Adam And Eve The serpent in Adam and Eve by Michelangelo is strong and large opposed to the serpent in Adam and Eve by Cranach who is humble and small. The serpent in Adam and Eve by Michelangelo looks as if he is half man. The lower part of his body looks like a large snake that is wrapped around the trunk of the tree. The top half of the serpent is a strong, muscular man looking as if he has the most power out of everyone in the piece of art. The strength that comes off of the half man shows assertive influences over Adam and Eve but especially over Eve. He is influencing Eve directly by handing the forbidden fruit to her. This comes off as pressuring her to take the fruit from him. The serpent in Michelangelo s art, Adam and Eve, is clearly seen in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dollar General Financial Analysis Essay This analysis contains references to years 2010 and 2009 for Dollar General Corporation, which represent fiscal years ended January 28, 2011 and January 29, 2010 respectively. The main issues which the company is concerned about are its ability to increase sales and profitability and reduce costs in the current economic situation; another issue is an ability to repay an extensive amount of long term debt which increases its risks. Analysis of profitability The rate of return on assets for Dollar General for 2010 was 6.8% thus for each dollar the company used it earned $0.068. For 2009 ROA was 3.8%, so ROA increased between 2009 and 2010 fiscal years. Profit Margin for ROA is 4.8% for 2010 and for 2009 is 2.9%. We can see an increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It decreased by 20 percent over a year which means that the company successfully paid a part of its long term loans. Cash flow from operations to total liabilities ratio for 2010 is 15.1% and for 2009 is 11.7%. Financially healthy company has cash flow from operations to total liabilities ratio of 20% or more. Dollar General has a high long term liquidity risk. Interest coverage Ratio for 2010 is 3.6 and for 2009 is 1.6. A high fluctuation makes the company risky, although it exceeded a 3.0 benchmark in 2010 it should show this stability over time. In conclusion, financial statements of Dollar General present the increase in company s profitability and sales over the last two years, they reduced their expenses as well. The only information that the statements do not disclose is which brands of merchandise increased their sales, and what was the cost of goods sold compared to the profit they made. Since the company was concerned about promotion of their private brand it would be helpful to know what percent of sales does their private brand make comparison to other brands. Nevertheless, the long term liquidity risk does not look as safe. The company will have to show the stability in its ratios overtime to insure investors that it has low risk and is able to repay its debt in a long run as well as maintain stable ... • 4. The Celebration Of The Concert I gotta tell you something, alright? It s a little motto to live by. It basically goes like this: There s going to be times in your life when people say you can t do something, and there s going to be times in your life when people say you can t live your dreams, and there s going to be times when people say you can t sell out Madison Square Garden. This is what I tell them: NEVER SAY NEVER Justin Bieber.... That is exactly what popped into my head when Lupita calls me and I find out the Purpose tour tickets were going on sale. We call Karla and start saying that we have to go to this concert. We start begging for the tickets but all our parents end up saying no. Weeks go by and we re still begging for the tickets. The concert isn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concert is in a few day and we still haven t gotten together. As of now it looks like it ll be a complete disaster. The day before the concert my mom finally call Karla s mom and come to the conclusion that they re going to give me a ride to the concert and Lupita is riding with her mom and Jackie. The day finally arrives and we re all so eager to see him live. And just the thought that I m going to be breathing the same air as him just blows me away. They pick me up, and on our way there Karla and I just jam out to, Justin Bieber. When we arrive there s already fans outside 4 hours before the concert even starts, that just means they re die hard fans like us. As soon as we get out, the 90º air hits me and I m starting to wonder when we ll start sizzling? We wait outside and it s so hot but were first in line to get in the arena, everyone was dehydrated and they wouldn t even open the doors like a few minutes before the doors actually open, one girl even fainted.. When they finally opened and we went inside it was so cold it gave me the chills. But we still had to wait 1 hour before the concert even started. So we found our seats in the meantime and tried to get something to eat. Lupita finally arrives and so we just talk for the remaining time. The lights begin to flicker and they suddenly turn off. It involves a black woman taking off her shirt and revealing a white woman underneath. This ad received a lot of criticism and backlash. The first time I saw this I was on Instagram. I couldn t believe Dove would do that knowing the society which we live in. People are fighting for justice and equality for the black. It s shocking they would be ignorant enough to put out this ad. They come in all sorts of styles from a Haiku to Free Verse. Some of them are very clear as to what they are about while others can be convoluted and they have to think about for a while. The message in the poem could be about anything. Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote about a variety of topics mostly about the pain of loss from either death, break up, etc. Everyone at some point learns what it is like to lose a loved one and after reading these it could help to them to cope. To lose someone one loves can be very difficult, how one copes with that is varied but there is bound to be a Millay poem to help with that. Time does not bing relief; you all have lied is a poem in which Millay describes the voraciousness of his or her pain after having lost someone near and dear to them. Within this fourteen line sonnet they depict the variety of ways they miss them and are reminded of them in their daily life. There are a hundred places where I fear To go, so with his memory they brim! ( Millay 56). Within a poem the author has only so much space to convey all they wish to say. To tell a tale and have the audience to be able to feel and relate to it. The style of this painting is Neo Dada, a movement with audio, visual and literary manifestations that had similarities in method or intent with earlier Dada artwork. Another duty that the health care systems stimulate is the reduction of inequality to race, gender, social status and religion. Affirmative action is described in sociology as, policies and programs that aim to avoid discrimination and redress past discrimination through the active recruitment of qualified minorities for jobs, promotions, and educational opportunities. (i.e. Exp. Soc., pg 280). In other words, the law was put in place as an attempt to create pluralism in the United States structure of opportunity. When describing affirmative action, the generalized assumption is individuals being handed opportunities based only on their ethnicity. Whether or not that opinion rings through to the majority, consider the events that lead to the enactment of affirmative action in the first place. The structure of opportunity in the United States has always been a biased and unfair in its distribution of opportunities. Since the beginning, the structure of opportunity has always been in favor of whiter, and ultimately wealthier Americans. Segregation, discrimination, and complete disregard for people of different ethnicity and color made it as such. People of color were seen as an inferior, and ultimately poorer group of people than people who were white. In earlier time, a metaphorical glass ceiling held back student of different ethnicity from becoming more educated. This theory has three rules and they are The activity while studies have shown that your performance will increase until you have reached your optimal level of arousal, there are some sports that require you to have a low arousal level and example of a sport that requires a low arousal level is snooker, as the player has to be very calm and collected and take his/her time to choose the right ball to pot and they have to find the exact spot on the ball that they want to hit, if they had a high level of arousal they would very likely miss their shot. In Inverted U theory, there is an optimal level of performance then after that the athlete s performance will start to deteriorate. Catastrophe theory however suggests that there is a decline in performance resulting from the combination of high cognitive anxiety and increasing somatic anxiety. In my opinion Catastrophe theory is more of a model than a theory in that it attempts to predict human behaviour and performance rather than explaining how it occurs that is why it is not a reliable theory. the model proposes that performance is affected by the relationship between somatic (Physical) anxiety and cognitive (Mental) anxiety. when cognitive anxiety is high but somatic anxiety is low performance is enhanced but when both cognitive and somatic anxiety are high, performance can suddenly deteriorate. Following this sudden decrease in performance, the performer tries to regain control by decreasing arousal. when they attempt to do this, their performance doesn t immediately return to its original level but remains low and only gradually starts to rise as arousal and anxiety returns to much lower levels. it is also possible that performance will continue to ... • 33. Intrapersonal Conflict Intrapersonal conflict reveals itself through different individual attitudes and behaviours. Most of these attitudes and behaviours may originate from self induced, emotional or inner feelings which may include frustration and emotional instability. These attitudes or behaviours may lead to absenteeism and destructive behaviour among individuals in an organization (Hughes, 2001). Poor attitudes and behaviours which result from intrapersonal conflict usually decrease the performance and efficiency of an organization. On the other hand when it is managed in the right manner it helps individuals promote capacity to adapt and attain a balance in the working relations with the organization. The management of intrapersonal conflicts can be achieved through the implementation of two strategies which include cognitive strategies and behavioural strategies. Cognitive strategies, often referred to as defence mechanisms, help an individual to falsify, distort or deny a particular conflict. Cognitive strategies represent an attempt to control or manage negative and disturbing feelings associated with conflict and to allow an individual to carry on with his normal activities. Cognitive strategies include repression (an attempt to push conflict out of existence), rationalization (hiding the truth from oneself), fantasy or even denial of reality. ... • 34. Basic Classic Threats For It Systems And Data 1. What are the four basic classic threats to IT systems and data? Give an example of each. According to Mr Moeller, we can classify IT system threats as four main classes. Interruptions: interruption refers to the situation where an IT component, typically a hardware or a software, gets corrupted or is completely lost. The main issue behind this kind of thread consists of the disruption of service provided by that IT component. An example could be someone performing a denial of service on an IT system by overwhelming network connections. Interceptions: this class encompasses all threat related with the stealing of, gaining unauthorized access to, data or service. For instance, it could be a program or a user trying to illegally access another system or data. One example that particularly applies to this scenario includes eavesdropping communication between system to retrieve or capture data. Modification: I believe this one could the most dangerous class as any threat that fall into this categories not only affects/tampers a system but also removes tractability. In other words, this kind of threat tends to alter system environment without leaving. Thinking of hacking tool such as metasploit, that is exactly the definition/description of some payload such as reverse shell. A user that managed to get a reverse shell from a target machine can modify environment parameter such as permission, process ID of running program as well as deleting log files that may hint plausible ... • 35. The New Virtual Office Environment Introduction Often time people find themselves working at odd hours of the day or night in order to connect with their teams around the globe. Meetings and conference calls are a necessity to conduct business and expand operations; however, in order to meet this need more and more employees are working virtually. Conference calls are conducted from home, airports, and automobiles. On line meetings can be held using applications such as Microsoft Lync that have audio and video capabilities. Screen sharing will enable everyone to view and discuss documents and presentations from anywhere and in real time. This not only applies to the CEO of a corporation or a partner in a firm. From the employee working at any level in the corporate structure to the entrepreneur to the small business owner use today s technology to conduct business at the best time and place for themselves and their teams. This is the new virtual office environment. In the beginning.... The buzz word in 1999 was Y2K. Everyone was concerned that computers would cease to work and the world would come crashing down around us. It didn t. Instead technology exploded allowing a new way of working to be ushered in. As far back as 1997 technological advances such as cell phones, emails, and laptops with modems began our journey toward today s virtual work environment. Even then two out of three Fortune 500 companies employed telecommuters (Cascio, 1998). Leaders in the business world embraced the new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm from Arlington, Texas. The Rangers will hand the ball to Nick Martinez (6 6, 4.01 ERA) as he will look to put together another nice performance after his last time out against the Giants. The Rangers will need a strong performance from Martinez, because the Houston Astros will turn to staff ace Scott Kazmier (6 5, 2.10 ERA) hoping to salvage a game of the three game series. He ll face a depleted Rangers lineup that s resting some of their more imposing hitters, and for that reason I expect the Astros to get the win tonight. • 40. Essay On How To Solve The Sparse Approximate Dft Problem The first work that tried to solve the sparse approximate DFT problem can be found in cite{NYN93}, in which they designed an algorithm based on Hadamard Transform, i.e. the Fourier transform over the Boolean cube. A polynomial time algorithm to interpolates a sparse polynomial was developed in cite{Y95}. The method in this paper inspired the authors of cite{GMS05}, in which they described an algorithm that can be used to approximate DFT when $N$ is a power of 2. In the early 2000s, people paid a lot of attention to the sparse approximation problem in Fourier space. The first algorithm with sub linear runtime and the sub sampling property was given in cite{GGIMM02}. In which they give a randomized algorithm with runtime poly($s, log N, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it needs to point out that the runtime of the algorithm in cite{AGS03} has a high dependence on sparsity compare with cite{GGIMM02} and cite{GMS05}. All the SFT algorithms above are randomized algorithms. This means they have small probability to fail to give the correct or optimal recovery on each input signal. Thus, they are not appropriate for long lived failure intolerant applications. The first deterministic sub linear time SFT algorithm was developed in cite{I08} based on the deterministic Compressed Sensing results of Cormode and Muthukrishnan (CM)cite{RSR69}cite{CM05}cite{CM06}. A simpler optimized version of this algorithm was given in cite{I10}, which has similar runtime/sampling bounds ($mathcal{O}(s^2 log ^4 N)$) to the one in cite{GMS05}. Later, in cite{I11}, a further modified SFT algorithm was provided. It showed simple methods for extending the improved sparse Fourier transforms to higher dimensional settings. More specifically, the algorithm can find the near optimal $s$ term approximation for any given input function, $f: [0,2pi]^{D} rightarrow C$ in $mathcal{O}(s^2 D^4)$ time (neglecting logarithmic factors). The algorithms in cite{I08}cite{I10}cite{I11} are all aliasing based search algorithm cite{indyk_overview}, which means they rely on the combinatorial properties of aliasing among frequencies in sub samples DFTs. • 41. Toyota s Case Analysis Of The Toyota Motor Company Toyota Motor Corporation is an international car manufacturer that is based out of Toyota, Japan. Toyota started vehicle production in 1933 with the company being a division of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works devoted to the production of automobiles under the direction of the founder s son, Kiichiro Toyoda. Throughout the early years of Toyota, they were well known for making highly desirable vehicles that were efficient and reliable. However, in recent years Toyota has been plagued with recalls for various reasons. Many of these recalls are safety related issues that have tainted to company s sterling reputation. For instance, in January 2010, Toyota suspended sales of eight recalled vehicle models to fix accelerator pedals with mechanical problems that could cause them to become stuck. In December 2012, Toyota announced an agreement worth more than $1 billion to settle a lawsuit involving unintended acceleration in some of its vehicles (Wikipedia, 2017). Business experts believed that it was not necessarily the recall that damaged Toyota s reputation, but rather the way that the recalls were handled. Many individuals believe that Toyota executives were insincere in their apologies, and that they did very poorly at explaining the recalls and what the course of correction was for the problems (Kaufman, 2010). Toyota s CEO, Akio Toyoda, stated in an inter interview that the company was growing to quickly and was putting growth related goals above quality concerns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
