Effective Communication With Children
Effective communication is important when working with children to develop relationships,
childcare workers must make contact with children to be understood. Two different forms of
communication are; verbal and non verbal. Verbal communication involves a child care worker
using written or spoken words to communicate with a child. Non verbal communicationis the use of
body language including gestures, touch and eye contact which would most often go alongside
verbal communication to make communication with children more effective.
Early years practitioners should use verbal communication when communicating with children, this
is important to obtain information from children, this may be when getting to know a child asking
them their name age

How Does Washington Irving Use Mythology
Several elements of mythology are present in the story, Rip Van Winkle , written by Washington
Irving. This story takes place in the Catskill Mountains where Rip Van Winkle wanders off in
hopes of fleeing his, shrew , of a wife. Rip encounters peculiar men who offer him a strange brew
and he finds himself waking 20 years in the future. Each of these elements, the setting, mysterious
characters, and the strange environments show the different characteristics of a mythological story.
As the story opens, the reader finds the setting to be on the Hudson River looking at the Catskill
Mountains. These beautiful mountains have their own magical air about them. Irving points this
out with wording like, every change of weather, indeed, every hour of day produces some change
in the magical hues and shapes of these mountains, and that wives from far and near use them as a
barometer .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Irving lets the reader know that this is a very old village from colonial Dutch times, and that the
bricks have actually been brought from Holland. The reader is then introduced to the main
character of the story, Rip Van Winkle
. Irving portraits Rip as an easygoing man who is kind and
gentle. Rip was loved by all his neighbors , especially children. No one had a bad word for Rip
except his wife, who, taking advantage of his meekness, regularly nagged him. Her treatment of
him earned Rip sympathy from others. His only weak point was his inability to work for profit.
It was not that he lacked patience or perseverance; for, as Irving points out, He would sit on a
wet rock, with a rod as long and heavy as a Tartar s lance, and fish all day without a murmur, even
though he should not be encouraged by a single nibble. Rip Van Winkle and his wife are
exaggerated characters in the story, Rip with his

Causes Of Scarlet Fever Infection
Scarlet Fever When illness strikes, children have a very difficult time explaining how they are
feeling. Thus, parents must rely on visual cues and changes in behavior to determine when their
child is ill. This week s discussion will focus on an 8 year old child who was taken to Emergency
Room with abdominal pain resulting in appendicitis. After surgery was performed, the child then
developed a health care associated infection, scarlet fever. This post will also cover the following
items: implications of being exposed to a patient with scarlet fever, nursing actions to prevent the
spread of the infection, two nursing actions and an explanation of precautions for this kind of
childhood infection, finally a nursing diagnosis statement appropriate for this patient to included
corresponding outcomes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main risk factor for contracting scarlet fever is coming in contact with the bacteria responsible
for the infection. This bacteria can be spread in respiratory droplets when an infected person
coughs or sneezes. (Centers for Disease and Control Prevention, 2016). An outbreak of strep throat
or scarlet fever in the community, neighborhood, or school may increase the risk of infection. To
minimized the spread of this diseases and other childhood disease parents need to be educated in
the spread of such diseases by requiring children to have immunizations (Pillitteri, 2014).
Nursing Diagnosis
To carry out patient care, an appropriate nursing diagnosis is developed based on the child s
assessment.

Personal Computer Impact
Throughout history, new technology has always had an economic impact, each technology
differing in significance of impact. In some cases this impact may not be as drastic as it appears at
first glance, and in others, it may be more so. The personal computer, first introduced in 1975, has
certainly had an impact on the economy of the developed world in which it is, including the United
States. However, there are those out three who believe that the personal computerhas not had as
great an impact on economics in the United States as it would appear at first glance. The personal
computerhas certainly affected the economy, but the questions of How much? , and Who remain.
When the personal computer first came onto the scene in the 1970s, many companies tried to
jump into the new market. Some of the names involved are still familiar household names even
still today, but some failed in this new market quickly after joining. One name that is still easily
recognizable today is Apple. In 1976, Apple designed and released the Apple I. However, it wasn t
until 1980 that personal computers became affordable enough that they could be used at home. In
that year, Commodore released a personal computer that only cost consumers $299, which was
more affordable to the average consumer than previous computer prices had been. It is estimated
that by the end of 1980, there were around one million personal computers in use in the US. In
1993, Apple and Microsoft had become major players in

Descriptive Essay On Lynyrd Skynynd
I have not been to many concerts in my life, so I did not know what to expect when I went to see
Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert last month. A few years ago, I saw Celine Dion in concert and was
very impressed by her beautiful stage, the infallible theatrics of her performers, and the wardrobe
changes. I expected the Lynyrd Skynyrdconcert to be similar, but it was nothing like that at all.
Concerts can vary in considerable ways; everything from the stage set up, performance, and the
audience can completely change the concert goers experience.
The Celine Dion concert had a very elaborate stage with beautiful props and decorations. Each
seemed to magically change to match every new song she sang. I was expecting a comparable lay
out at the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. Their concert, however, was just the opposite. While waiting
for Lynyrd Skynyrd to perform, I noticed that the stage was sparse and unimpressive. The only
thing that really caught my eye was a baby grand piano on the left side of the stage. The other items
on stage were just typical musical instruments that you would expect to see at any rock concert. The
only thing that changed throughout the concert was a cheap backdrop that would occasionally
change to fit the song.
As Celine came out on stage and started to perform her first song, everything was choreographed
perfectly. Celine, her band, and her backup dancers, impeccably executed each song. The Las
Vegas style influence on her show was undeniable. Obviously, she and

Kinsey Review
In the movie, Kinsey, it was obvious that society had a lack of knowledge about sex and about
people s sexual activities. Alfred Kinsey changed the way that people thought about sex. He did
an important and monumental thing informing people and answering people s questions about
sex. At one point in the movie it showed Kinsey reading a script from the bible where boys were
supposed to control their nocturnal emissions, a natural and uncontrollable act of puberty, or they
would be looked down upon by God. A quote from the movie it is the lord s work to help youth

Marijuana Legalization in the United States Marijuana has had a long history as an illicit drug,
but is quickly becoming a mainstream issue. Some people use marijuana to ease their pain and
treat their illnesses. Many others use it because of it mood altering effects. Laws have been passed
to regulate both of these uses of the drug. Those who advocate legalization favor easing or
overturning laws against the possession and use of marijuana for recreational purposes, medical
use, or both. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its recreational use became widespread throughout the white upper middle class. In the 1970 s
Richard Nixon and Congress instituted a War on Drugs . (Shectman, M., 2012). Marijuana,
however, was categorized separately from other narcotics, which eliminated mandatory sentences
for small amounts. In 1986, President Reagan signed the Anti Drug Abuse Act, which instituted
mandatory sentences for drug related crimes. Possession of 100 marijuana plants now carried the
same penalty as possession of 100 grams of heroin. This act was later amended to include the,
three strikes, you re out policy, requiring life sentences for repeat drug offenders. In 1989,
President Bush reinforced this policy by declaring a new War on Drugs . ( Marijuana Timeline ).
Effects on Justice System Cannabis or marijuana prohibition has a grossly negative effect on the
economy. This impact continues to weigh heavily on the justice system. Not only does the
prohibition require enforcement, processing and incarcerations which generates millions in costs to
the government, it also causes millions of missed revenues because of its illegal status. In 2006, a
study was performed by King and Mauer regarding the War on Drugs, focusing on the effects of the
war on marijuana. Their study included some startling statistics and conclusions. The results of this
study suggest that law enforcement resources are not being effectively allocated to offenses which
are most costly to society.

Pushing The Herd Off The Cliff Edge
Introduction
The idea of institutional herding has a striking implication for security price volatility. Estimations
from the essay Sending the Herd Off the Cliff Edge suggests that the predominance of herding
behavior may explain why the financial system in 1990s had been in crisis for 40 out of the 120
months or 33% of the time (Persaud, 2000). These concerns, along with the increasing stock market
ownership of institution investor in comparison to individual investors, is often used as a basis for
advocating for an increase in monitoring institutional trading in equity markets in hopes that it that
would lead to a reduction in the dominance of institutional investors in the financial market.
However such claims are not fully supported by empirical research in the literature. Two schools of
thoughts emerge the first being that herding enhances pricing efficiency, and second ascertains that
herding initiates short term trend reversals.
The emergence of two seemingly polar opposite beliefs is not as a result of lack of scholarly
competence but rather due to the nature of complexity within the subject leading to conflicts in
assumptions and methodology. Conflicts in assumptions and methodology often arise due to
rational definitional irregularities on institutional herding. An example of such a definitional
irregularity occurs when as Avery defined herd behavioras a trade by an informed agent which
follows the trend in past trades even though that trend is counter to his

Write An Argumentative Essay On Bulldogs
Humans and dogs have shared what can be called a sacred bond. Throughout history, one can see
many leaders have had dogs by their side. The English bulldog has grown in popularity over the
years, which has encouraged people to buy an English bulldog before even researching about
them. In order to become a good owner, one must be aware of the medical costs, price for the dog
itself, and how to properly care for the dog. While one may think it is easy to own a bulldog, the
breed is known to have major health conditions. Many bulldogs are known to have shorter
lifespans compared to other dog breeds. A large majority of bulldogs require a soft palate
surgery in order to even breathe properly. Elongated soft palates narrows the airways in bulldogs,
causing increased airway resistance. This, in the worse case, can lead to heart failure or even
death. Bulldogs also tend to have problems with bones and joins. Chondrodysplasia, a structural
defect found in bulldogs, causes the legs in bulldogs to stop or slow down and also makes their
backs lengthen. One health... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When buying a bulldog, one has two options. One can buy a bulldog that has tons of medical issues
at a cheaper price, or one can buy a more expensive bulldog that has fewer medical issues. Even a
cheap bulldog can cost between 300 to 500 dollars, and that is just for the dog itself. A well bred
bulldog usually is priced from a range of 1,500 to 4,000 dollars. The better the breeder, the more
expensive the dog. On top of that, the owner has to buy special insurance for a bulldog because
of all its health issues. They also have special diets and specific food allergies, which means that the
owner has to buy special bulldog food to fit their needs. Bulldogs all have expensive and special
needs, so the owners themselves need to be responsible in order to properly take care of

Lynn has a higher risk for developing iron deficiency anemia because of her pregnancy. She also
indicated that the does not take her prenatal vitamins daily and according to her 24 hour diet recall,
she is not getting an adequate amount of nutrients in her diet. Lynn states that she suffered from
heavy periods prior to her pregnancy.
Rationale: According to Rao Georgieff (2007), there is an association between pregnancy and an
increase demand for iron. Pregnancy demands about 1,000 mg of additional iron due to the
expanding RBCs and plasma volumes of the mother and the growing placenta. Maternal iron is
important for the transfer of the necessary amount of iron to the fetus, important for the
development and function of the organ systems. Mothers with a poor iron status and malnutrition
can lead to iron deficiency anemia, especially if the woman had insufficient iron before pregnancy

The simulators used today are extremely accurate as to the limitations of people and equipment,
and as advances in technology improve so do the simulators, as they become more and more
realistic. Computer game technology is also responsible for these improvements; today s video
game consoles have many times the computing power than the military s simulators a few years
ago.2 The army has even developed its own video game based on the simulators it uses for
combat training. Americas Army is more than just a shoot em up game; it is built to portray a
real soldiers life, everything from basic training to choosing a career. According to one of the
games designers, Lt. Col. Casey Wardynski, the game took over two years and around $8 million
dollars (USD) to develop, but the main point of the game is education of real Army life, and is
said to be the most realistic game ever developed. Simulators cannot however depict every aspect
of military life, dealing with other team members, salty commanders, and there is nothing to
simulate being cold, tired and hungry at the end of the day. All in all however, simulators are a
vital part of today s military training and operations. In the near future, if it is not already possible,
I would not be surprised if a simulator can be developed for any situation by simply inputting a
given situation, and the soldiers will be able to use the simulator before going into the actual

These problems have arisen due to the decentralized operational structure of the company. The IT
initiatives in this regards have been 1) ERP development and deployment and 2) Data warehousing
effort. But even with such initiative from SYSCO, management still had problems with monitoring
and comparing performance across the organization.
The lack of knowledge from employees has been a big setback to act as well as having the right
information for decision making. Although, SYSCO had made efforts for data warehousing, the
organization lack of expertise to extract this data from the data warehouse. Although Ms. Day had
Directors approval, user resistance is one big barrier to BI success. Other barriers include having
irrelevant data and poor data quality. Another issue was that each operating companies already
has their own BI application but now they are being force to share such data. As for personal
experience, if a company has worked for so many years in a decentralized process, users are
reluctant to share full information. This share attitude needs to be brought out as a main focus to
be able to acquire the data and to answer the main problems of the organization.

Music That Subverts The Standard Form Of Arranging Sounds...
Serialism is style of music that subverts the standard form of arranging sounds produced by
musical instruments and approaches the composition from an almost mathematical standpoint. It
can be described as a compositional strategy in which the composer arranges notes in a particular
order based on the characteristics of a sound such as pitch, duration, amplitude or even timbre, but
giving no preference to each individual characteristic; all aspects of a sound are equal. Once the
notes are arranged the composer uses a pre determined set of rules to arrange them in to a
composition. It could be argued that it originated as a response to composers in the late 19th and
early 20th century struggling to stretch the limits of their capability... Show more content on

a tone row; this tone row was then re arranged through a set of rules to form variations known as
set forms or row forms. The basic forms of these rules are retrograde and inversion, arranging the
notes in reverse order (for example B C G becomes G C B) or upside down (for example B C G
becomes B Bb Eb) respectively. Combining these rules is known as retrograde inversion. These
new arrangements could be transposed to provide a larger range of varying row forms with
which to form a composition. Row forms are represented through a system of numbers and
letters. The letter indicates the form of the tone row, P indicating the original or prime form, R
indicating the retrograde form and I indicating inversion, with RI representing retrograde
inversion. The number indicates the pitch class in which the first note of prime and inverted
forms of the row is to be played, or the last note of retrograde and retrograde inverted forms. So
for example I2 is an inverted form of P0 that has been transposed two semi tones up. Through these
rules it is possible to see the fundamental idea of serialism, composition that moves away from the
traditional tonal relationships of notes, while creating new relationships through pitch, order,
numbers and intervals. While

Origins of C
What are C and OOP?
C is an advanced, high level programming language ( Computer languages ) that is used to develop
powerful applications for MicrosoftВ® WindowsВ®, many Linux environments, and other well
known and widely used operating systems. C is quickly becoming the standard language for
commercial software development (Oualline).
OOP, an abbreviation for objectoriented programming is simply code that attempts to place a new
layer of abstraction between the programmer and the data he is working with ... this layer will help
the programmer develop better code more quickly than he could do before. (McHale). OOP
languages must include four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first implementation arose in 1958 and quickly became the standard for expressing algorithms.
Algol was most widely used in the academic community, which thusly led to its widespread usage.
P: begin integer h, i; real array A[1:5], B[1:5, 1:2]; for i := 1 step 1 until 5 do
A[I] := 6 i; h := 1
Loop: if h *= 5 then begin B[h,1] := 1;
B[h,2] := 5 + 3 * (h A[h]); h := h + 1; go to Loop end end P
(Parsons)
The similarity between such modern languages as Pascal and Modula 2 and Algol proves it
influential to the programming community, even today. Algol also introduced the concept of free
format, a concept that allows programmers to arrange the code any way they want (assuming the
syntax is correct) (Parsons). This concept proves itself useful today in making source code easier to
read and eliminating the problem of spaghetti code (code written in an unreadable fashion, or strung
together as spaghetti is).
Simula67
Simula67 was developed by the Norwegian armed forces (Kristen Nygaard and Ole Johan Dahl
at the Norwegian Computer Center) and was the first of its kind to use classes (as class is
defined by a program unit containing both data and associated functions ) (Overland, 3). Its
development was initiated between 1961 and 1967. SIMULA I, appearing first in 1964, was
designed as a system

In Workplace Change: Managing Workplace Change, Becker, Tennessen, and Dahl state that some
implications to organizational change are:
В…addressing concerns about job security and the workplace, increasing change acceptance,
identifying the benefits of the change and create incentives for acceptance, perceive management
commitment for satisfaction and commitment to the new workplace strategy, broadcast information
through interactive dialogue, explain broad goals, and discuss personal implications (1997).
These implications can result in both positive and negative effects within an organization

common question employees will have, when it comes to change, will be, How does this affect

Human Diversity Issues In Social Work
There are several issues related to issues of human diversity that have influenced the development
of my interest in social work. As I take a look around my community and what is occurring in the
world I notice the different cultures, environments, and lack of humanity. I took an interest in these
three categories and learned there are recurring issues within each. There is a lack of cultural
competency in the society. Different cultures do not interact effectively with one another as much
as they should. A person may interact differently with a certain cultureonce they are forced or need
to. For example, a person may only interact with a person from a different culture for work

Abraham Lincoln and Julius Caeser were both politicians they are both similar in their own way

Jewish Folk Dance As A Means Of Creating A New Israeli...
Jewish national identity was colonized when Jewish people were forced out of ancient Israel and
dispersed to various different nations. Anti Semitism was one of the principle means for this
colonization because it made it dangerous for Jewish people to express their own national identity
in the European nations they dispersed to. As a result, certain traditions, like Jewish folk dance,
which were not codified, were lost. Jewish folk dance also disappeared because folk traditions are
strongly connected to the land in which they originated and the majority of Jewsleft Israel.
Furthermore, because of the third commandant of the Torah, Jews were not allowed to depict
images of their dance. Consequently, their traditional dance was lost forever. However, when the
Jews returned to Israel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they found it important to recreate
traditions like folk dance to reassert their fractured nationhood after so many years of diaspora.
Thus, Israeli folk dance was a means of creating a new Israeli culture.
Israeli folk dance was created by using elements from other dance cultures with themes and music
of modern Israel. In this paper, I will argue that while anti Semitism resulted in the colonization of
Jewish national identity, women re created Israeli folk dance as a means to establish a new Jewish
identity, as well as an identity for themselves. By focusing on Romania and Yemen, we will
identify the vestiges of colonialism in Israeli folk dance, and

The Cask Of Amontillado, And The Masque Of The Red Death
Edgar Allen Poe, a master of suspense, wrote stories over a hundred and fifty years ago that
remain popular today. One of Poe s suspense techniques in these short stories are unreliable
characters. An unreliable character is a character, whether in literature, film, or theatre, whose
credibility has been seriously compromised. The unreliable narrator forces the reader to ask
questions like, Is this true? rather than Who did it? or What happened? Poe uses unreliable
characters in many of his stories very effectively to keep the reader guessing what is ultimately
true. Three of his most famous stories, The Tell Tale Heart , The Black Cat, The Cask of
Amontilladoand The Masque of the Red Death . He illustrated how effective such narration is....

If the main character was not mad, it would still be a good story. However, Poe made this
narrator unreliable by making him mad. The narrator says, I heard all things in heaven and in the
earth. I heard many things in hell. How then am I mad? This shows that he is unreliable, he asks
himself how he is mad but, right before he said he heard things in heaven and hell. That is
unreliable. Poe also doesn t name the unreliable narrators in these stories which makes them
unreliable. He does name other characters that are more reliable including, the old man and Pluto
in The Tell Tale Heart and The Black Cat. Additionally, Poe uses violence and death to show that
the characters were unreliable. In The Black Cat the main character cut his cats eye out and then,
hangs his cat. In The Tell Tale Heart the main character chokes the old man to death. This is

How To Build An Autocracy
Growing up in a community where the education succeeds, and learning is rich, it is easy to see
why America as a whole is ignorant to facts and education that is essential to fill our civil duties
of voting. The underlying facts of what s to come is hidden because of rhetoric and lying to the
public, and the public is blind to these facts because of their lack of education. In America, the lack
of quality education and knowledge of extremely important information will lead to the destruction
of our country and to our civic society.
Ever since 1960 the culture of American Education has gone down significantly. In efforts to make
things easier for readers, authors are trying to trim their materials so it is basically easier for the
reader to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article Ignorance Does not Lead to Education Bliss, published in The Atlantic, written by
Jonathan R. Cole states,
When this kind of ignorance reaches the level of presidential aspirants, it must give Americans
pause. Where does the ignorance originate? Why has it become so pervasive in the United States
today? Can the U.S. have meaningful elections if its citizens have a paucity of civic knowledge
and history that might allow them to make informed decisions? A significant part of the answer
lies, I believe, in the failures of the American education system .
What Cole is arguing is that why should we in the United States hold elections if we seriously
have no idea what we are talking about. We are making decisions without ever really knowing
what we are talking about or what people are even saying. We have a paucity of knowledge for
the important things that we need to know like civic knowledge and the history of our country
and of the world, which are essential topics. Our education system is failing us, and if we don t fix
it, our country will continue to fall, until we are at a point where we can t come back from it
anymore. Education is something that needs to urgently so that our country can come back on

A Report on the Healthcare Reform
On March 23, 2010, President Barack Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care
Act, also known as Health Care Reform, which promises to accomplish three primary goals:
provide health insurance coverage for all Americans; reduce the cost of insurance for individuals,
businesses and the government; and, increase the quality of care and the value we receive for
every dollar we spend on health care in the United States(Tanner, 2010). By analyzing the major
provisions contained in the act, their potential impact on health care administrators and the many
organizations in which they serve and the proposed methods by which we will pay for each
provision; it is clear that the act succeeds in some areas; partially succeeds in others and fails
completely in the rest. There is little doubt that the act will provide insurancefor the uninsured and
it may improve overall quality and provide some increase in value for services delivered; but it
will come at an enormous cost that will be unsustainable for future generations. Health care
expenditures in the United States are currently about 18 percent of GDP, and this share is
expected to continue to rise with the share of GDP devoted to health care in the United States
projected to reach 34 percent by 2040 (CEA, 2009). U.S. spending on healthcare is greater than any
other developed country, yet unlike others which provide near universal coverage, the United States
still has 46 million uninsured (Godell, 2008). For

Synopsis Of Storytelling Games
Alex Ingles
Dr. Liane Ritchey Sillet

Thesis: Storytelling in games gives the gamers the opportunity to be involved in the game,
experience the characters, stimulate feelings like fear and excitement and let the player know they
make situations happen and the choices they make affect the outcome as well as motivate them to
continue on.
Background:
After reading parts of The Storytelling Animal, it was clear that storytelling is in everything. As
an avid videogame player it was evident that many of the games that people play, like Battlefield,
have a storyline. After reading articles from the Proquest database like From Computer Games to
Interactive stories, a plan was developing about games and stories. Other thoughts on the thesis
were whether video games have stories and traits of their own and should these games have a
storyline, especially since it is a game. After researching and a discussion about this topic with the
professor, it was decided to do the first thesis idea. The topic is extensive in gaming articles and
magazines. Gamers on both sides have an opinion. It seemed that most of the articles read dealt
with stories and games rather than just gameplay. An article by Jan Simons in Game Studies
discusses the narrative theory extensively as well as the ludology and narratology side.
Theoretical Issues:
When studying video games one needs to know how human behavior works. Most theories
regarding video games deal with the violent actions

The heart beats and pumps blood through our blood vessels, in which carries oxygen to our lungs.
There are three main types of blood vessels in the heart circulatory, in which are the Arties,
Capillaries, and Veins. The Arteries that is the aorta large artery carry oxygen blood away from the
heart, the branch becoming smaller as they carry blood further from the heart into organs.
Capillaries connect the arteries and veins allowing oxygen, nutrients and carbon dioxide pass
through the cells. Veins are the one that passes through the vessels and remove waste products from
our bodies.
The heart consists into three layers in which are endocardium, the myocardium, and the epicardium.
The endocardium is the inner layer of the heart (chambers and valves). The myocardium is the

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hardwood...
There are many choices of hardwood flooring for home owners. This is why it is important that
you choose the right type. Although there are varieties that are more affordable, they may come
with their own drawback. In this post, we discuss the major types of hardwood flooring available,
together with their advantages and disadvantages so that you can make a wise choice when you go
out to buy them.
Bamboo
In the strictest sense of the word, bamboo is a grass and not a wood. However, it is mostly taken to
be wood. The strands of bamboo are normally glued together so as to create engineered planks or
solid strips, just like it is with hardwood.
It has three grain patterns which are flat, woven and vertical. Flat grains tend to show the plant s
characteristics of intermittent growth nodes; woven types come with sinewy patterns while vertical
grains have closely packed strands that produce fine grain appearance.
Pros
Bamboo is durable and tough.
Also, it is considered sustainable because the plant from which it is harvested can be easily grown
and regenerated.
Cons
Even being a natural material, there are some environmental concerns about the adhesive used in its
construction process (regarding toxicity).
Maple hardwood flooring
This can increase the beauty of any room. These floors are extremely durable.
Pros
Affordability: it is very affordable since it is largely available.
Great color: Maple flooring has warm hue and light color that can fit almost any room.

Fluoride In High School Milk Case Study
Fluoride in school milk is now a cause for concern

that more than 8000 children in the Blackpool area will begin receiving fluoridated milk after
councilors approved the proposal to introduce it within the town s pre existing free breakfast

government, into question.
Back in 2013, when this idea was first brought forward, concerns were immediately raised however,
due to conflicting evidence regarding fluoride and its effect on our health, it was unfortunately

introduce the fluoridated milk is simply a result of figures showing roughly 50% of 12 year olds
in Blackpool are suffering from some form of dental decay or have missing/filled in teeth. This is
much higher than the normal average which sits at around 33%. Councillor Graham Cain explained

A piece of dramatic irony that we are given is that we know Fortunato is going to be killed,
unfortunately Fortunato does not know this. Fortunato s name is even ironic. Fortunato means

especially for the wealthier classes were equipped with special springs and sounding devices to
give the person mistakenly buried alive a chance to be rescued (Crichton 326 28). One of the
most pragmatic of these devices, which involved the placing of bells on the limbs of the recently

Londinium Essay
Around 50 AD, the Romans built and constructed one of the most economically successful and
diverse cities in the world today, known to us as modern day London. In the course of its
construction and rule under the Roman Empire, the city was known as Londinium. The Romans
controlled London from around 50 410 AD, a period as long as that which separates Queen
Elizabeth I from our present Queen , during which Londinium was one of the largest trading ports
in the world. (Museum of London; 2012) Roman Londinium overcame many obstacles in terms of
invasions and battles, but the city reestablished itself numerous times in order to advance and
modernize throughout the years. After being rebuilt around 70 AD due to an invasion, Londinium
replaced Colchester as the capitol of Roman Britain because of the quick expansion and economic
prosper the city was able to produce. (p. 21; London: A Social History, Porter, R. 1994) Although
the city was subject to numerous unfortunate events, it quickly became the largest and most

There has been controversy as to who originated the term Londinium . In 54 BC, Julius Caesar

Socrates, describing him as so godlike so bright and beautiful, so utterly amazing (Plato, 217a).
But Socrates pointed out that if Alcibiades can see in Socrates a beauty that is really beyond
description , it makes Alcibiades remarkable good looks pale in comparison (Plato, 218d). At
that point of time when Alcibiades made the offer, he does not have self awareness. What
Alcibiades saw in Socrates is the ability to make himself better, not the divine Beauty itself. Here
again it shows that Alcibiades did not learn from Socrates nor is he ascending towards the
beautiful because his desire takes precedent over his love for

The Passionate Shepherd To His Love And Raleigh Was Right
Throughout the three poems The Passionate Shepherd To His Love, The Nymph s Reply To The
Shepherd, and Raleigh Was Right; By Christopher Marlowe, Sir Walter Raleigh, and William
Carlos Williams. We can see the themes of nature and love addressed in different ways throughout
all three poems. In the first we see nature in a positive, auspicious way, whereas in the subsequent
poems we see nature in a negative, gloomy, violent light. The tertiary poem Raleigh Was Right
agrees with and supports Raleigh s views of nature in a negative light.
In the first poem, The Passionate Shepherd To His Love, we see nature portrayed in a positive,
heartwarming, romantic way. One example of this can be found in the first line of the second stanza,
And we will sit upon the rocks, this shows nature in a positive light. ... Show more content on

Examples of this negative outlook can be found within the first line of the second stanza, Time
drives flocks from fields to fold, this shows the poems negative attitude towards nature. Other
examples can be found such as in the first line of the third stanza, The flowers do fade, this is
saying that the flowers and all pretty things of nature will decay and die as time passes. The evident
negative attitude towards nature can also be found the the third and final poem.
In WIlliams s poem Raleigh was right William seems to agree with Raleigh s negative view of
nature. Evidence of this can be found in the first second line of the first stanza, For the country
will bring us no peace, Williams is saying that the country will not bring any peace of mind.
Other evidence of this negative view of nature can be found in the sixth line of the first stanza,
lance shaped leaves. This shows nature in a hostile light, comparing leaves to lances. All three
poems commonly have the ideas of love and nature, however each one has a unique view of

Aerosols Research Paper
1.(20) Define the following terms, including method(s) of generation, usual particle size range, and
deposition in the respiratory tract:
a.Aerosols: Aerosols are stable suspensions of solids or liquid particles in air, these can be in the
form of dust, fogs, mists, fibers, fumes, and smoke. Aerosols can vary in particle size, and due to
the varying size of aerosols, they can be found in multiple areas of the respiratory tract. Aerosols
are can be generated many different ways such as from a burning material, a liquid that is boiling,
sand blasting, sweeping, condensation, and evaporation.

Smaller particles with an AED of 1 5Вµm are captured here. The most common method of
particulate accumulation in this area is due to sedimentation, air has slowed enough to allow
particulates to settle.
The alveolar region consists of the lower lung area and gas exchange regions. The air velocity in
these regions are very low, surface areas have increased while the size of conducting airways has
greatly decreased. Particles trapped in these regions generally have an AED of less than 1Вµm.
The entire airway passage system acts like a large filter. As you enter the HAR where airways
are large and velocity is high, mucosal cells and other filtration methods trap larger particles. As
air continues to the final destination, air passages greatly increase, surface area increases, while
size of these passages decrease in diameter, and air velocity greatly decreases. The decrease in
size and velocity changes the general mechanisms for deposition where in the HAR it would
largely be due to impaction, eventually it is reduced to sedimentation and diffusion. 4.(20) Metals

well that are named Shay and David. The inciting incident that starts the conflict is when Shay runs

is seen in patients under the age of 45 (Mayo Clinic, 2018). The disruption of bowel function may

The Doctor Of The Future
As Thomas Edison once said, the doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his
patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease (
Alternative Medicine Quotes ). This quote is gradually becoming a popular philosophy among
American citizens and holistic physicians who prefer alternative medicines to traditional medicines.
In short, this quote explains how the clinicians of the future will practice preventive medicine.
Physicians will instruct their patients on how to live an enhanced lifestyle, and also how to nurture
their bodies physically so that they can avoid illness and disease in the first place. The alternative
medicinephilosophy is solely based upon the reality that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, many Americans distrust American drug companies, which seem as if they just aim
to overmedicate American citizens in order to gain dollars. Society would prefer more natural and
harmless remedies. A recent report concluded that 25 million Americans made an estimated 425
million visits to alternative care providers annually, which is more than the visits that were made to
primary care physicians ( Alternative Medicine ). This statistic alone showcases American citizen s
desire for alternative medicine care and treatment.
Americans are without question, the most heavily medicated people on the Earth. When most
Americans ponder about drug use in America, they immediately think of illegal drugs such as
marijuana or cocaine. However, pharmaceutical drugs are far more widely used than illicit drugs
are, and the use of such medications has skyrocketed over the past few decades (Thompson 12).
According to a 2006 study by Boston University, eighty two percent of American adults and more
than half of children take at least one medication (prescription or nonprescription drugs, vitamins, or
herbal supplements) every day (Thompson 7). However, the forces that shape these statistics are
highly controversial. The driving force is the pharmaceutical industry. With $291 billion in annual
sales, the pharmaceutical industry is the fastest growing and most profitable sector of the American
economy and spending on prescription drugs is the fastest

Analysis Of Emily s A Rose For Emily
Love is a morphing entity that devours everyone from conception to death. Love is a beautiful,
disgusting phenomena that allows deep relationships to form between persons or between people
and objects. In A Rose For Emily , Emily experiences a large variety of bittersweet instances of
love. Emily Is shown overbearing lovefrom her father, materialistic love from Tobe, first love
from Homer Barron and curious love from the town. When a person experiences love it s hard to
let go of that person or object. Emily fears to loose love from anyone especially after the sudden
loss of her only love at the time, her father. After Emily s father passed, Emily fears that she can
just as easily loose grasp of any other person whom she grows attached to. Perhaps the traumatic
experience or fear of losing love is enough drive poor Mrs. Emily well into the twisted path of
insanity. Emily first experiences love from the controlling hands of her father. Emily s father
solely prevents any young man from even growing close to his precious daughter. so when she
got to be thirty and was still single , we were not pleased exactly, but vindicated; even with
insanity in the family she wouldn t have turned down all of her chances if they had really
materialized . Emily s father knew that no man could love his daughter as much as he does.
Therefore no one was able to date his daughter until his death. Emily showed no emotion about her
father s passing and continually said he was not

Hydrogen Automobiles The effect of pollution that is emitted from vehicles is a serious concern in
today s society. The cause of this pollution is the toxic emissions from current vehicles. This toxic

facts, many are very concerned with the condition of the Earth s atmospheric gases in the future. In

Of coarse, as the name implies, this process involves the use of coal. One of the more popular
methods of attaining Hydrogen is electrolysis. This is process of which water is broken down
into pure hydrogen and pure oxygen. Elements other than hydrogen attained from the reaction
are excess and are emitted from the vehicle through the exhaust. This is why only water vapor is
the only exhaustion given off from hydrogen vehicles. Another commonly overlooked benefit of
Hydrogen as a power source is that it is a renewable energy source. Rather, it can be obtained
from a renewable energy sources with no increase in carbon dioxide emissions. Hydrogen acts
like a carrier of energy rather than a source of energy. It can be produced and consumed
continuously. Using solar, electric, water, wind and nuclear power to power electrolysis and other
forms of attaining hydrogen. Although Hydrogen may environmentally safe and renewable,
Hydrogen as an energy source still has its downfalls. Hydrogen has a low volumetric energy density
Traditional combustion engines can be converted to run on hydrogen. This involves the use of
fuel cells and electric motors instead of a traditional engine. Hydrogen reacts with oxygen inside
fuel cells, which makes electricity to power the motor. Fuel cells are very fragile and are very
costly to produce. Scientists are currently searching for more efficient and less costly methods of
producing fuel cells. Scientists

Change In The Music Of Today s Music Industry
Looking back at the music that everyone enjoyed a few decades ago, and then compare it to todays
genre of music there are many differences. In the past two decades alone there has been a drastic
change in the music that is considered popular. Going from a four man band that play instruments
to one person pressing buttons on a computer and using auto tune. The talent in today s music
industryhas obviously declined over the years. As the music we listen to continues to change and
trends come and go, nobody really notices how it changes. With all of the technology and social

Comparing Abercrombie And Fitch, Forever 21, American...
Social Marketing
Of the hundreds of named brand clothing that form part of the retail and fashion industry I chose
to compare, for my analysis, Abercrombie Fitch, Forever 21, American Eagle, and H M. These
stores are prominent, well known for selling apparel, shoes, and accessories by the means of
offering sales and promotions to their customers. This is a clever strategy for attracting customers,
allowing them to believe that they bought goods at affordable, convenient prices and not to mention
the prestigious name prescribed to the clothing brands. Using keyhole.co as my main source, I
obtained relevant and valuable information regarding the status of these brands. My intentions
were to compare a period of 14 days, however, due to the limited access that I received from my
free trial, the program only allowed me to see fewer of the dates than I anticipated. I want to take
this opportunity and mention ahead of time that due to the various and distinctive products that
are sold from these stores, when looking for the spending capacity I decided to focus on shirts
/ jeans for men and women and compare the prices among them since each of these retailers carry
those items and as a way to make this report easier to contrast and comprehend. Also, when
approaching the section of setting , I screen shotted some of the images on Instagram and made
them into a collage to separate the type of clothes and trends that each of these brands sell currently.

Crazy Horse And Mount Rushmore
Tragic as well as heroic events will continue to happen in life that raise certain questions. How do
we honor or remember the people who put their lives on the risk for others or other incredible

progress towards a greater society. We can learn from those who showed bravery or other by
looking at tragedy to have our hearts softened. Knowing and remembering important aspects of
history is crucial to progression. However, many can question how to do this in the most

The history of our country and expanding into new territories can be a touchy subject for many.
However, this is a part of the United State s history that cannot be rewritten. Debates can go on
about what was wrong and right, yet in the Black Hills, the carvings of Crazy Horse and Mount
Rushmore can be found. Including Downes, there is skepticism on the Mount Rushmore monument.
Downes shares, It was bad enough that white men drove the Sioux from hills they still hold
sacred; did they have to carve faces all over them too? It s easy to feel affection for Mount
Rushmore s strange grandeur, but only if you forget where it is and how it got there. This point
is very valid, considering the very spot this monument is located and the history of people
driven out there. When sculptors and designers are wanting to create a piece of work for
everyone to look upon, thinking of people s ancestry is a huge aspect that needs to be deeply
considered. Yes, the Black Hills are beautiful and have perfect rock formations for such a piece of
art, yet there is some harsh feelings in that area. Although, no matter what an agency wants to show
respect to, there will always be someone offended, even in the aspect of people who lived long ago.
Mount Rushmore is a beautiful, mesmerizing piece that captures many beholders. When fireworks
are shot from behind it on the fourth of July, patriotism is shot through every American s heart who
is lucky enough to witness it. Even though the beauty is mesmerizing, people in the area s ancestry
should always be taken into consideration when placing a

Essay about “Going to Meet the Man”; the Black Man Inside...
In Going to Meet the Man by James Baldwin the reader opens up with a scene that is considered
one of the most horrific torture and murder scenes in history; or of the 1940 s. The story is so
graphic that it takes you away from the main idea of racism, hatred and murder. Nevertheless, the
theme of the story is a transformation of a young child into a stereotypical Black Southern
American hating bigot. Through dramatic detail Baldwin explains the mindset of a white southern
police officer and how he came to hate Black Americans. This was representative of the racial,
violent black South because this exemplified what happens to most white Americans and how they
are brained washed unknowingly to hate anyone that does not resemble the same... Show more

It is obvious from the story and the historical period in which the story takes place that Jesse had
grown up in an extremely racist society and experienced prejudice on a daily basis from the
attitude that his father expresses toward the black race. Here, Baldwin shows how any person in
any situation can become the victim of twisted family values and societal expectations. Baldwin
combines attacks on black people during the civil rights era and the period of history to this story
to allow the reader to understand what Jesse feels on the day his innocence and perception of
race was no more. The black body was on the ground, the head was caved in, one eye was torn
out one ear was hanging. But one had to look carefully to realize this, for it was, now, merely, a
black charred object on the black, charred ground.
Boy, Objects, things; replaceable things. Never first names, last names, Mr or Sir in between
names just things. Never remembered other than a picture taken for a personal photo album
hanging from a noose. The laughs, the screams, the smell and the fires is all that remain for
nostalgic thinking. For blacks in the 1940 s its not forgotten and rarely talked about and for the
whites it is what drives the power to hate and continue the

  • 3. How Does Washington Irving Use Mythology Several elements of mythology are present in the story, Rip Van Winkle , written by Washington Irving. This story takes place in the Catskill Mountains where Rip Van Winkle wanders off in hopes of fleeing his, shrew , of a wife. Rip encounters peculiar men who offer him a strange brew and he finds himself waking 20 years in the future. Each of these elements, the setting, mysterious characters, and the strange environments show the different characteristics of a mythological story. As the story opens, the reader finds the setting to be on the Hudson River looking at the Catskill Mountains. These beautiful mountains have their own magical air about them. Irving points this out with wording like, every change of weather, indeed, every hour of day produces some change in the magical hues and shapes of these mountains, and that wives from far and near use them as a barometer .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Irving lets the reader know that this is a very old village from colonial Dutch times, and that the bricks have actually been brought from Holland. The reader is then introduced to the main character of the story, Rip Van Winkle . Irving portraits Rip as an easygoing man who is kind and gentle. Rip was loved by all his neighbors , especially children. No one had a bad word for Rip except his wife, who, taking advantage of his meekness, regularly nagged him. Her treatment of him earned Rip sympathy from others. His only weak point was his inability to work for profit. It was not that he lacked patience or perseverance; for, as Irving points out, He would sit on a wet rock, with a rod as long and heavy as a Tartar s lance, and fish all day without a murmur, even though he should not be encouraged by a single nibble. Rip Van Winkle and his wife are exaggerated characters in the story, Rip with his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Personal Computer Impact Throughout history, new technology has always had an economic impact, each technology differing in significance of impact. In some cases this impact may not be as drastic as it appears at first glance, and in others, it may be more so. The personal computer, first introduced in 1975, has certainly had an impact on the economy of the developed world in which it is, including the United States. However, there are those out three who believe that the personal computerhas not had as great an impact on economics in the United States as it would appear at first glance. The personal computerhas certainly affected the economy, but the questions of How much? , and Who remain. When the personal computer first came onto the scene in the 1970s, many companies tried to jump into the new market. Some of the names involved are still familiar household names even still today, but some failed in this new market quickly after joining. One name that is still easily recognizable today is Apple. In 1976, Apple designed and released the Apple I. However, it wasn t until 1980 that personal computers became affordable enough that they could be used at home. In that year, Commodore released a personal computer that only cost consumers $299, which was more affordable to the average consumer than previous computer prices had been. It is estimated that by the end of 1980, there were around one million personal computers in use in the US. In 1993, Apple and Microsoft had become major players in ... • 6. Descriptive Essay On Lynyrd Skynynd I have not been to many concerts in my life, so I did not know what to expect when I went to see Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert last month. A few years ago, I saw Celine Dion in concert and was very impressed by her beautiful stage, the infallible theatrics of her performers, and the wardrobe changes. I expected the Lynyrd Skynyrdconcert to be similar, but it was nothing like that at all. Concerts can vary in considerable ways; everything from the stage set up, performance, and the audience can completely change the concert goers experience. The Celine Dion concert had a very elaborate stage with beautiful props and decorations. Each seemed to magically change to match every new song she sang. I was expecting a comparable lay out at the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. Their concert, however, was just the opposite. While waiting for Lynyrd Skynyrd to perform, I noticed that the stage was sparse and unimpressive. The only thing that really caught my eye was a baby grand piano on the left side of the stage. The other items on stage were just typical musical instruments that you would expect to see at any rock concert. The only thing that changed throughout the concert was a cheap backdrop that would occasionally change to fit the song. As Celine came out on stage and started to perform her first song, everything was choreographed perfectly. Celine, her band, and her backup dancers, impeccably executed each song. The Las Vegas style influence on her show was undeniable. Obviously, she and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1986, President Reagan signed the Anti Drug Abuse Act, which instituted mandatory sentences for drug related crimes. • 11. Pushing The Herd Off The Cliff Edge Introduction The idea of institutional herding has a striking implication for security price volatility. Estimations from the essay Sending the Herd Off the Cliff Edge suggests that the predominance of herding behavior may explain why the financial system in 1990s had been in crisis for 40 out of the 120 months or 33% of the time (Persaud, 2000). These concerns, along with the increasing stock market ownership of institution investor in comparison to individual investors, is often used as a basis for advocating for an increase in monitoring institutional trading in equity markets in hopes that it that would lead to a reduction in the dominance of institutional investors in the financial market. However such claims are not fully supported by empirical research in the literature. Two schools of thoughts emerge the first being that herding enhances pricing efficiency, and second ascertains that herding initiates short term trend reversals. The emergence of two seemingly polar opposite beliefs is not as a result of lack of scholarly competence but rather due to the nature of complexity within the subject leading to conflicts in assumptions and methodology. Conflicts in assumptions and methodology often arise due to rational definitional irregularities on institutional herding. An example of such a definitional irregularity occurs when as Avery defined herd behavioras a trade by an informed agent which follows the trend in past trades even though that trend is counter to his ... The English bulldog has grown in popularity over the years, which has encouraged people to buy an English bulldog before even researching about them. In order to become a good owner, one must be aware of the medical costs, price for the dog itself, and how to properly care for the dog. While one may think it is easy to own a bulldog, the breed is known to have major health conditions. Many bulldogs are known to have shorter lifespans compared to other dog breeds. A large majority of bulldogs require a soft palate surgery in order to even breathe properly. Elongated soft palates narrows the airways in bulldogs, causing increased airway resistance. This, in the worse case, can lead to heart failure or even death. Bulldogs also tend to have problems with bones and joins. • 22. Music That Subverts The Standard Form Of Arranging Sounds... Serialism is style of music that subverts the standard form of arranging sounds produced by musical instruments and approaches the composition from an almost mathematical standpoint. It can be described as a compositional strategy in which the composer arranges notes in a particular order based on the characteristics of a sound such as pitch, duration, amplitude or even timbre, but giving no preference to each individual characteristic; all aspects of a sound are equal. Once the notes are arranged the composer uses a pre determined set of rules to arrange them in to a composition. It could be argued that it originated as a response to composers in the late 19th and early 20th century struggling to stretch the limits of their capability... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This order could be based on properties such as symmetry or pre determined intervals, or even just instinctive ideas of the way in which notes could relate to one another. This order of notes is called a tone row; this tone row was then re arranged through a set of rules to form variations known as set forms or row forms. The basic forms of these rules are retrograde and inversion, arranging the notes in reverse order (for example B C G becomes G C B) or upside down (for example B C G becomes B Bb Eb) respectively. Combining these rules is known as retrograde inversion. These new arrangements could be transposed to provide a larger range of varying row forms with which to form a composition. Row forms are represented through a system of numbers and letters. The letter indicates the form of the tone row, P indicating the original or prime form, R indicating the retrograde form and I indicating inversion, with RI representing retrograde inversion. The number indicates the pitch class in which the first note of prime and inverted forms of the row is to be played, or the last note of retrograde and retrograde inverted forms. So for example I2 is an inverted form of P0 that has been transposed two semi tones up. Through these rules it is possible to see the fundamental idea of serialism, composition that moves away from the traditional tonal relationships of notes, while creating new relationships through pitch, order, numbers and intervals. • 29. Jewish Folk Dance As A Means Of Creating A New Israeli... Jewish national identity was colonized when Jewish people were forced out of ancient Israel and dispersed to various different nations. Anti Semitism was one of the principle means for this colonization because it made it dangerous for Jewish people to express their own national identity in the European nations they dispersed to. As a result, certain traditions, like Jewish folk dance, which were not codified, were lost. Jewish folk dance also disappeared because folk traditions are strongly connected to the land in which they originated and the majority of Jewsleft Israel. Furthermore, because of the third commandant of the Torah, Jews were not allowed to depict images of their dance. Consequently, their traditional dance was lost forever. However, when the Jews returned to Israel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they found it important to recreate traditions like folk dance to reassert their fractured nationhood after so many years of diaspora. Thus, Israeli folk dance was a means of creating a new Israeli culture. Israeli folk dance was created by using elements from other dance cultures with themes and music of modern Israel. In this paper, I will argue that while anti Semitism resulted in the colonization of Jewish national identity, women re created Israeli folk dance as a means to establish a new Jewish identity, as well as an identity for themselves. A Report on the Healthcare Reform On March 23, 2010, President Barack Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Health Care Reform, which promises to accomplish three primary goals: provide health insurance coverage for all Americans; reduce the cost of insurance for individuals, businesses and the government; and, increase the quality of care and the value we receive for every dollar we spend on health care in the United States(Tanner, 2010). By analyzing the major provisions contained in the act, their potential impact on health care administrators and the many organizations in which they serve and the proposed methods by which we will pay for each provision; it is clear that the act succeeds in some areas; partially succeeds in others and fails completely in the rest.
