The genre of my music video is dance, pop as it reflects the songs me and my group have
choose. My target audience is young adults between the ages of 18– 21 years old as most
dance, pop videos are aimed at young adults because they may relate to the song and its
often played in bars and clubs. Our videos dance, pop characteristics are filming in Camden
town, the location is often light and very busy as it’s a tourist attraction which relates to the
dance, pop genre. Our main performer will be wearing casual outfit (black jeans and a
leather jacket) our main performer also is wearing makeup which makes her stand out. The
link between the lyrics and visuals is evident, as the lyrics become more exciting the
performer shows happy, energetic expressions.
To create a certain image of our performer we had a lot of close ups and shots of her
walking from behind to make it clear to the audience this is our only performer and she is the
main star.
Our music video will be shown on Capital TV, 4Music and Viva as they are channels that
play mainstream videos which are in the UK top 40 or artists which are well known. Our
video would also be available on the internet on websites such as YouTube and Vimeo
which can then be posted on blogs or social networking sites for example Facebook, twitter
and Tumblr. It is important that the video is available online as the internet has a huge
impact on the charts and is a way to get the music video available to everyone across the
world. Our artist relies on the internet as our target audience are known to use the internet a
lot and is also an easy way to interact with the target audience.
In our music video we use only original clips we filmed ourselves. Our video has many
strengths as it is original and creative, we feel that the direction we took this music video in
has work perfectly for my group and is very appealing to our target audience as it is different
from what they usually see on music channels and will catch their eye. I feel my editing skills
in this particular video were good as i have never edited a music video independent, I
synced the music well and I believe everything has a nice flow. We also used different kinds
of shots such as close ups, long shots and mid shots. My group and I didn’t want all our
scenes to be in the same location so we had at least 3 different location types otherwise our
video would have been repetitive and boring,
One of our weaknesses was that we didn’t film enough scenes so when it came to editing
scenes had to be reused; I believe it is a good representation of the original artists music
video. I think it meets our target audiences needs as our target audience is 18 – 21 young
adults. That age group is mainly interested in pop and dance genre music as it is one of the
most popular genres.
