2. Portraying the artist
The promotional package we have created is very
effective in the sense that, we have been able to
portray the artist very well, creating a hip hop and rap
image, showing the party life style that the rapper or
artist would have, this means that we effectively
communicate with the audience and get the message
intended across clearly. We have the mise en
scene, motifs, themes, composition and the music
video itself to portray the artist and appeal to our
audience.
3. In one of my posters I tried to create an old school hip hop
look for the artist, which relates to the lyrical content and
the sound that we have. The font itself, is a font that was
very popularly used by some hip hop artists. For the
content, there are some slightly explicit content of which are
of relation to sex, thus there parental advisory tag for the
younger audiences.
The colours I have used and certain features are of the
modern day hip hop artist, this is to keep in time with the
trending fashions. For instance the authentic signature I
used is something that is very frequently used, this is
because the audience and fans value their favourite artist, so
this makes it an item of higher value, as this is the signature
of a star.
4. In the other poster I did, I tried to put across, the style and
fashion of the genre, along with the kind of life style
associated with a rapper.
Most artist always have girls surrounding them, this goes
with the theme of, “money, cars, girls and parties” which is
the typical trend in most hip hop and rap music videos.
The kind of dressing I put across challenged the fact that in
most hip hop videos or posters the girls are almost
naked, in this I tried to create more of a sense of
swagger, style and a new era hip hop look, which worked
very well.
The colours used are bright in this poster, this is to contrast
with the other poster I did along with matching some of the
posters my group did as seen, this makes them look more
attractive and works with the rest of the package to make it
more effective and appeal to the audience.
Bright colours are particularly more effective on posters
because, this will make them stand out and attract new
audience and create a certain atmosphere, giving away an
aspect of the album, in this case, it is fun, party life and hip
hop. Bright colours also attract eyes, giving away a certain
feeling of confidence and usually excite the audience new
or pre-existing.
5. The mise en scene is one thing I think we manage to portray very
well, this is because the hip hop scene is usually cities, cars and
streets, for instance in the third scene, there is the graffiti in my
background which is one theme highly associated with hip hop
and rap music.
Other things such as the city in the first scene shows the busy
street and normal life going around, this is another factor which is
used a lot in hip hop, pictures or music videos, this usually makes
the video more effective and have a bigger impact on the
audience or viewers as if they feel they relate however they are
nothing alike or in any way similar.
In the second scene the mise en scene also creates a nice effect
of the blurred background of train station as the train is
moving, this look very nice and was interesting as the background
was moving and the characters stay in the same place, however
we used the green screen for this which looked very good.
However, the video contrasts with the posters as the video is in
black and white throughout, and the posters are very
colourful, this challenges the mise en scene and the
theme, however this was very successful as this made some of
the effects used in the video a lot more effective.
6. The artist is wearing, snap back in scene In the video, in some of the stills, the artist is
wearing a get fresh jumper which relates a lot with the music video which is a great use of
composition to portray the artist, the fashion really relates to the music video and the theme
we have for, along with the genre.
The snap back is a now a typical new era hip hop accessory which is seen in many music
video as it is part of a very popular fashion trend or “swag”.
Shoes, there are various different shoes in the music video all of which a pretty impressive
and look very flashy which is also another theme and feature of hip hop, having nice clothes
and nice shoes, chains and expensive items is prominent in hip hop.
7. Audience
I think that we have effectively addressed our audience or our intended audience, this is
because we have managed to create a typical hip hop music video and create posters that
also compliment this, along with the digi pack.
The audience will expect the party music, music to dance to and exciting music. This has
been the main aim in creating the advertisement, this was intended to create an atmosphere
of excitement and party life style.
